THAT SETTLEMENT WAS REACHED BY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL WHO CALLED THE REVIEW A, QUOTE. >> SHAM NEWS FOUR'S TANNER DE LEON BREAKS DOWN THE DETAILS AND WHAT HAPPENED AT TODAY'S MEETING. TANNER. THE SETTLEMENT INVOLVES 4 INMATES WHO SAID THEY WERE KEPT BEHIND BARS FOR WAY TOO LONG WHILE WAITING ON MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATIONS. >> GOVERNOR STITT SAYS IT WOULD COST TAXPAYERS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. BUT THE AGS OFFICE SAYS IT'S A STEP THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO WAIT ON. >> I I ALL MAKE A MOTION THAT WE JUST TABLE TO THE 7. >> THE CONTINGENCY REVIEW BOARD VOTED TODAY TO TABLE A DECISION ON THE LAWSUIT. BUT IT'S ULTIMATELY A DELAY OF A DECISION THEY'LL HAVE TO MAKE IN MARCH OF LAST YEAR. THE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES WAS HIT WITH A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AFTER INMATES SAID THEY HAD SPENT MONTHS IN JAIL WAITING FOR MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATIONS. ATTORNEY GENERAL GETTING THEIR DRUM MADE AND LAWYERS FOR THE INMATES AGREED ON A SETTLEMENT IN JUNE. IT INVOLVES SEVERAL STIPULATIONS LIKE DEADLINES FOR COURT-ORDERED EVALUATIONS. A SCREENING PROGRAM AND ADDED STAFF TRAINING FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES THAT ADDED COST NOT SOMETHING GOVERNOR STITT WANTS TO TAKE IF THIS PLAN SIGNED ROUTE TO ALL THIS COST, THE TAXPAYERS THIS CONSENT DECREE REQUIREMENT, SO HAS ITS WRITTEN TODAY, A CONSERVATIVE ESTIMATE WOULD PLACE A BURDEN OF APPROXIMATELY 96 MILLION DOLLARS OVER 5 YEARS. BUT AG DRUMMOND SAYS OKLAHOMA CAN'T AFFORD TO NOT PUT THE PLAN IN PLACE, POINTING TO LAWSUITS IN OTHER STATES OVER SIMILAR ISSUES THAT RESULTED IN HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN COST AND FEES. IN A STATEMENT TODAY, HE CALLED THE REVIEW A SHAM, ADDING, QUOTE, THE GOVERNOR APPEARS BOUND AND DETERMINED TO FORCE OKLAHOMANS TO ULTIMATELY PAY UNTOLD MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. >> AGAIN, THE BOARD DID DECIDE TO TABLE THE DECISION IN COME BACK TO IT AT A LATER DATE.
