USFL Network Presents: Hammer Time! Maulers Make History & Interview with Savion Williams! #usfl

foreign welcome everyone to another edition of hammer time the only show in the world for the Pittsburgh mahler's historic week for the mallers if you've been following Along on all their socials historic week it started obviously with the jerseys last Thursday kind of told you that we kind of expected it to come out uh the black and gold feels the Pittsburgh now uh as you can see from these pictures Nathan Hurley High the kicker and Matt mangle uh good friends of each other were the presenters of the Jersey to the team and the locker room went absolutely crazy uh the black and gold it feels like Pittsburgh it looks like Pittsburgh but I gotta give a shout out to Ace from the u.sville network because he basically nailed this he uh did a color Swap and it is perfect uh it feels like Pittsburgh are they the best uniforms in the league probably not but who cares they're not the worst especially after today watch looking at the showboats uniform with the short tie where it kind of cuts off here instead of going all the way to shoulder like we have with the maulers these jerseys were executed well and I really look forward to seeing how they look on the field and especially black and gold man it's Pittsburgh right we're we're supposed to have the black and gold all the time then we made a bunch of roster moves uh Mark Gilbert was signed uh the corresponding move which Caleb ham was removed from the roster Caleb ham was a victim of the numbers game he played Safety they were looking more for a cornerback the safety room is absolutely stacked with Tarpley toward it in Xavier Lewis uh Tyson Graham uh Eric Burrell is absolutely stacked they can't keep all their safety someone's gonna get cut Horton said it on Hammer Time uh about a month ago the safety room is the toughest room on the defense to break through for a new guy especially when you got torted into our starting and then you got guys like Tyson Graham and Jerry Lewis who have played for a horde defense so yeah they understand the role so they already have a head start on you um but they signed an outside corner uh people asked what's an outside corner it's a guy that can handle it on the outside um and not necessarily A Nickelback Gilbert comes from duke uh he was a three star out of high school had a pretty good start to his collegiate career the end of his collegiate career kind of got drailed by injuries uh his sophomore year he had 15 past deflections and seven interceptions uh only guy in the entire Duke history and I know Duke's not a an illustrious uh University it's not a blue blood like Alabama or or Clemson or Georgia but he's the only guy in uh Duke history to have those kind of numbers 15 deflections and five or more interceptions and he did that in his sophomore year Junior ten years coven that kind of stuff and then also an injury kind of messed up in the end he probably was on a path to NFL Draft pick status kind of got drailed uh he's been kicking around in the NFL between the Steelers lines the back to the Steelers practice squads got a few games got got a couple tackles underneath his belt I really look forward to him being one of the top corners in the league because he just has that pedigree and he's played in a Steeler defense which is kind of similar to uh what this what the maulers want to do uh black and gold defense so I expect uh Mark Gilbert to perform well and to fit in perfectly fine and hit the ground running even if he was behind for five days and then the other big pickup was traquan Dorsey traycon Dorsey is the first NFL or usfl Draft pick from college to go directly into the usfl from their draft pick process it is awesome that a spring League now has a Collegiate draft where they are calling on guys and this guy gets a shot you know Horton said on Hammer time that they really really really we're looking for guys that were at smaller schools that performed well were all conference or all Americans and maybe just need more tape against bigger guys and faster guys and the notch below the NFL and this guy fits that mold he came from Saint Francis PA offensive line played a lot of tackle saw a few snaps where he looked like he was the guard can move he's a big guy 6'4 304 pounds he's got an NFL body I'm really looking forward to seeing him uh hit the ground running the corresponding move was Jared Brooks was uh released from the roster we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors in his football career I really feel the ham and broke uh we're not done hearing about in their Co in their football careers and their football Journeys and the USB Network we get to know these guys on a personal basis by talking to them and Caleb ham came on to hammer time was gracious enough to volunteer his time to talk about his football journey and to give Let Let Me Entertain him with questions uh in fact he even gave me the video if he checked out our YouTube shorts he says hey I'm running the camp he sends that video he's in the car on the way to Canton and he gave that time these guys are great guys and they're great people and getting to know him is just an honor and it sometimes it stinks as a guy because you're a fan and you're following the team and you get to know these guys but I am sure that we're not done hearing about uh Caleb ham or uh Jared Brooks but to go back to traquan Dorsey we definitely have something here I really believe that I think uh the maulers have created a roster Construction uh their idea of the roster construction is to draft smart and to add guys that have played in the NFL as you see the mark Gilbert pick up and then the traquan Dorsey pickup there's two different styles of pickup there there's not a mold they are analyzing the roster every single day and they're looking to improve it and I I really look forward to seeing the maulers continued to analyze every single day and this roster continued to get better so earlier this week a couple days ago I got to talk to Sabian Williams Saban Williams is a d tackle from Florida a m he played at Tennessee he played at Lackawanna College uh Juco he's from the DMV area he's a great guy the he definitely was one of my favorite interviews so far he's got a big personality and I hope you enjoy it so here's shaven Williams I am joined with Savion Williams now what's going on man how you doing brother good good so tell me a little bit about Canton how's it going um I know you're a late edition and I was just wondering how how is everything going in Ohio oh man brother it's uh definitely a interesting City uh you know I mean we uh we kind of you know Camp has been taking up most of our time we've been around the facility um you know and then after that you'll be too tired to just go down lay down probably after that but you know I mean uh definitely enjoying myself here uh great great people here great great coaches um you know definitely a experience talking about the coaches um how do you think you fit into the Horton scheme um your play style that kind of stuff uh you know I I kind of see that uh coach Horan likes big ends you know kind of like uh maybe a Pittsburgh actually Pittsburgh Steelers or uh you know a Chargers team you know something like that that uh you know what I mean and I feel like uh I'm sitting around probably 295 right now uh six four so I think uh now like I said it turns it as the schemes like in uh I've been I've been definitely adjusting very well to it so far that's that's awesome uh how's share in the locker room with big personalities like Oliva and Boogie I'm around you know I'm around Boogie uh you know uh all very often because he's in my uh in my group I mean I he definitely especially boogie man he's been one of my uh ever since I've been up here we've grown really close you know and uh you know I mean he helps me he helps me if I need anything in terms of plays or anything else so I can come to him and I'll just talk to him and uh you know I mean I I'm appreciative uh and grateful to meet people like that so this is I know you were with the Jets for a short period of time this is kind of like your first real training camp it's like long long term over right yeah so what what's it like mixing in the room with guys that have been in the NFL coaches that have won Super Bowls Ray horns won a couple Super Bowls and then guys like yourself who played in the SEC HBCU you've got D2 D3 like the room is completely mixed up with stories how's it like sharing a locker room with all those guys man brother it's a true truly a blessing because uh like man I don't and I will be a fool not to learn sit here and learn from these guys you know I mean you you got uh Chris Okoye and several other guys who just who who like you said been in the league for a while um and you know what I mean and like I said and for me to you know as a young guy you know what I mean just to be able to be around that type of experience and that type of talent and uh and able to just just enable just sit there and watch them and learn from them it's just a really really uh really grateful for it because I'm getting ahead of the game already so you've played in power five you played at HPC you played Junior College you played every level so far yes sir um what's the biggest difference between the usfl and your College Station uh I would say I mean this kind of reminds me U.S Phil I mean you know SEC ball you know that's the best you can really get um you know in terms of college ball and um you know I would say that definitely um up here you know gods are just as fast as you just as strong as you you know just as uh you know it talented you but it's about who who works harder and who has been the better technique and um now I mean and you gotta really uh up here you really gotta hone in your craft and make sure that you that you um that you're working 10 times as hard because like I said everybody up here is just the talents you know I mean so you got to make sure that you working uh 24 7 and make sure you get an extra time or whatever whatever you're doing definitely definitely yes um my offense I haven't seen you I know you spent some time at Tennessee but you ended your college career at Florida a m thank you and what's your player comp give the give them a player comp that's saving Williams is like I would like to um you know and even though this is a hefty person to live up to I was saying nomica too okay uh I say I'm 6'4 300 that size what measures up well and I feel like I'm a very power powerful guy I'm very athletic very sneaky athletic um and I can be very disruptive when I want to so I mean I said and that's one of the guys I kind of look up to growing up so I would say uh definitely the Dominican suit is uh one of my one of the the amazing similarities that'll fit perfectly in the uh mahler's defense yes sir the Horton defense um actually if you think about it Carla Kemp and Jeremiah Farms last year were on the team and they're both bigger guys and they played on the defensive line outside whatever whatever you want to call into the league right yeah they're both in the league and they are bigger guys for the the end position right um talk about the end you did you play with Australian yeah yes sir well tell me a little bit about Isaiah Lynn man Isaiah land that's that's honestly I got to be one of the best they got to be one that truthfully I got to be one of the best players I've ever been around um just in terms of talent man he I was there um when he had that 19 man it was a beauty to behold you know truthfully because I mean I even know I kind of it's crazy because I only played uh six games um and I had and I had seven sacks that year and he had 19 so we would kind of switch side sometimes and stuff and he would like you know I mean it's kind of crazy how we kind of work work well with each other but in terms of just seeing somebody just as talented as uh as Isaiah land man you don't see that very often did did you uh play in a 3-4 at family uh it was more of a defensive end yeah I was uh so they switched me kind of a movement to five technique and sometimes the three so even though even They even played me a note sometimes so it was really a versatile you know they kind of moved me all over the line man that's been your Scouting Report since high school I looked up in some of your high school and say NFL body and can play anywhere on the defensive line yeah like what what gives what where did where did you pick up all that because usually the bigger guys they kind of stick them in the middle and they kind of live there Vince Wilfork you know what I mean where did you pick up the Outside Inside kind of stuff on the defensive line I feel like it really really I feel like it really comes from my athleticism you know what I mean and even with uh like even I I kind of kind of started football late a lot of people don't know this I kind of started I think it was around 9th 10th grade where I actually started taking football really seriously but before I played football I was actually a basketball player and um and you know got it I gotta I got I mean a lot of people tell me all the time I'm really fast and Shifty for my size so um not only am I strong you know what I mean but I can I can uh you know I mean I can go out there and play in space um if needed you know what I mean so I I feel like uh definitely that basketball background and uh just just God giving the ability um you know I mean it's reason why I can I can really just move around like that all right I asked everyone everyone that brings up basketball I ask you who's your favorite team man I coach an AAU team so like basketball okay tell your truth basketball is my like probably my favorite sport personally right every day kind of thing um who's your favorite team in basketball in the NBA right yeah NBA I would say uh I would say Lakers Los Angeles Lakers oh man you killed man I'm a Celtics fan man that was the one I would have been cool with every other one except that one team man I basically half your team is Laker fans I don't know if you know that yeah that's crazy they're all La kids like Boogie Trey Walker like uh Troy Williams they're all La kids so they're all like a fancy you fit in man yeah so talk about you came from the DMV area talk about I I think one of the biggest areas one of the most underrated areas in high school football is the BMV area the town that comes out of the DMV area talks about talk about your kind of your upbringing in the DMV area in your football life I know you started late as you said but yeah and uh yeah and it's crazy uh grew up um you know DMV man it's crazy I grew up um around around the PG County area uh Forestville I could move the moved around a lot of places even uh lived in DC for a while at one point in time so it kind of moved around around maybe even PG County DC area um and man I didn't definitely uh I mean dbmv is definitely uh slept on man in terms of football we got so much so many athletes and so many uh and if you really for us to be that small um you know what I mean and that's the produce as many athletes as we do man it's kind of uh crazy if you look at the numbers and oh I said I'm just kind of trying to uh really trying to continue it like I said even I feel like uh I guess in this crazy I got to play I really got to play uh I was up there in Florida if you remember and then I came in uh I said I grew up in a DMV area I feel like the biggest difference I feel like the trench is uh in the north I can't I feel like the trenches you get it you get more of the bigger guys you know that is more talented I guess and then you go to the I guess you go to the South or you get the the the wide receivers and the skills you know they're the fast guys and all that um but I feel like I definitely feel like uh yeah just just trying to continue uh you know what what made me what I mean like I got you yeah um you ready to drop the hammer I know you got you guys got you guys are busy um you ready to drop a hammer some uh non-football questions uh yes sir let's do it let's do it all right hold on all right man I I asked this question to everyone I coach used everything you probably know coach Tomlinson I asked coach Donaldson the offensive coordinator okay yes coach Thomas in this you know he's an older guy all right let's do it bro this is a Pittsburgh this is a Pittsburgh question since it is the maulers Wiz Khalifa or Mac Miller with got to do Wiz man you know it's crazy all the coaches say all the coaches say Mac Miller except except like Trey Walker the wide receiver but everyone else all the players say whiz you're crazy both of them both of them are legends though you can't go wrong with either one though you can't go wrong with either one I I just don't know I I guess the older guys like uh Mac Miller I don't know Horton Horton loves Mac Miller yeah yeah and it's so did coach Hall the linebackers coach so yeah yeah yeah yeah Max nice dude man if I had to I mean I guess because I'll say man yeah that's that's the hard one though it is hard well I I what what I kind of picked up from a few players is you guys kind of grew up with whiz you know yeah yeah yeah he was he was super big so you guys came up with him and the coach is a little bit older they didn't come up with them as much yeah yeah that definitely probably yeah the main main thing probably yeah uh what's the last thing you watch on Netflix you stream uh okay it's crazy I just just yesterday we had it all day I was watching The Hunger Games that's the crazy I was watching the little serious I watched the whole series yesterday you know Boogie's an All-American right yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Mr Hollywood did you see any of the Super Bowl commercials yeah I've seen the mom who was the legendary one when he was in the locker room oh yeah he was uh Leonard little or something yeah yeah yeah yeah scary curls and everything did you see him singing for Rihanna he was singing Rihanna no I didn't see I didn't see that I'll I'll send you that one where he's singing acapella Rihanna please dude yeah I will I will I will all right we're making a movie about your life who's the actor playing Savion Williams the actor I I would like to I mean I would say um and it's kind of maybe maybe it may be a Fame uh maybe a little famous but maybe I'll say uh I would say Michael B Jordan okay I like it the reason I say him is because um you know he especially in Creed you know he just represents a underdog you know I mean kind of you know what I mean and uh I feel like uh you know I mean I always been I always had the size I'm always had everything but you know I always been you know I always been an underdog regardless of you know any age stage in my life I had to fight for everything I had uh so you know I mean I definitely see Michael B Jordan all right usually it's the wide receiver to say Michael B Jordan yeah yeah because they're smaller but the d-line I've never gotten Michael B Jordan uh Michael Jordan for uh the d-line yet so yeah it's crazy yeah I I mean because I've seen Creed a couple couple words last month uh so you talked about you um joined football late yes sir I picked up the game late what's the moment that you realized you know what this is what I want to do for the rest of my life transfer to events Academy it's down there in Baltimore um and I went down for Alabama Camp um and Tim this was 10th grade I went down there for Alabama camp um and like I said this was just me trying to trying to just starting to take football seriously um and then when I went down there ended up winning uh the best defensive lineman ended up getting offered by them uh and uh and you know talking to Nick Saban personally and all that and that's when I really realized that if I can go down here and do that at the highest level then I know for sure um that the future is bright for me and uh you know what I mean it kind of took off right right from there I had probably probably I think from there I had even after Alabama all for me that it was like 10 more after that you know and that's how I knew for sure I was like okay maybe this is for me that's awesome man like to talk to the legend Nick Saban I just that's just crazy man it's a blessing just to even be face to face with him yeah especially especially for a kid from the DMV area okay it's not like you grew up in Alabama or Georgia where he's local kind of like yeah you're from the DMV area and you got that's awesome but yeah so you don't even get to meet guys like that yeah um so we're at the end zone that's the last segment the the floor is yours anything you want to say to family anything like that um the floor is yours man I just want to say uh truly grateful and blessed for this opportunity um I would want to thank my mom also for raising a great son um and she would I wouldn't be here without her um right now and I want to say to the smallest um all the nation that you won't you won't get the most hard working um like uh you know humble humblest guy that that you that you that you'll ever see I feel like in you know I mean like I said I'm just gonna go out there and work and produce for you guys I'm not going to talk too much I'm not going to say not going to say what I'm gonna do I'm gonna show you guys and I mean I'm ready to get to work I appreciate it man thank you for coming on I know you guys are busy good luck in Camp maybe I'll see you I'm I'm planning on coming sometime this year so yes sir I'll see you up in Canton all right I appreciate you brother all right thank you thank you brother one okay shaving Williams obviously was a great interview and it was an honor to get to know him one of my favorite pictures when we announced the signings was to him with the cigar with his hands crossed he's just ready to go celebrating that FAMU uh he played at Tennessee he got some time so he he's been at all levels in college football he's been an SEC he's been down to HBCU and played at Junior College he fits that uhfl mold definitely uh one of my favorite stories I actually sent him that video of Boogie uh singing Rihanna and today in practice or Tuesday in practice uh that that's how they started practice off with uh Boogie singing Rihanna in front of the entire team stretching so this team just feels like it's clicking um it seems like there's a lot of guys that are getting along I'm not saying the other teams are not doing that but it just it there's a different vibe with the muellers and there's like this confidence that they're working hard and they're getting better and adding guys like saving Williams over last year's team uh all the returners he's just a great fit and the roster construction just continues to Excel and I gotta get I got a tip my hat to the Hortons Tomlinson Hall the court right the the entire the entire coaching staff new guys and old guys and of course Lana young because this team just seems like it's getting somewhere so fast so quickly and the Improvement is Gonna Come so the best of the week you know I like to break down the week uh watching social media getting quotes all that kind of stuff Youth Day youth day was awesome for the entire league I definitely obviously paid attention to the mallers most and watching guys like uh Tarpley doing the three cone drill five cone drill whatever he's doing uh Samson uh grading kids doing the back pedal you know what I mean like and then the kid that was doing the moon walking while Boogie was singing to him it just felt like a great day for the usfl as a whole on a Sunday when the the compendingly the competing League was hosting its football games the usfl was promoting that they are connecting with the communities there's four communities that are lucky enough to have you have us well teams this year and I hope that this continues to grow I know if you watch any of uh big Hortons uh pressures or events that he's gone to represent the U.S Valley talks about connecting with the city of Pittsburgh as well I hope that we see that I I hope that that gets the mahler's name out there in the Pittsburgh Community and the rest of the U.S develop can learn from the maulers that it is going to be kind of like the Steelers way with the rooneys um I really really expect this team to connect with the city of Pittsburgh and now being black and gold it's even easier and the youth day was a great start quarterbacks one of the coolest things on social media is that the other teams it seems like some quarterbacks get more attention than the others obviously some of them have starters that are pretty determined or pretty sensed Stone like cookus in Philadelphia but Pittsburgh's got a wide open competition all four guys have gone equal time on social media the social media team is not associated with the actual team but they are splitting video time between Connor Sampson Chase 4K Troy Williams and James Morgan I really look forward to seeing who gets that who are the three that get onto the roster and it definitely is one of the story lines uh for the last 17 days of camp uh April 8th is going to come real quick uh looking at the calendar it's about 10 days away and 10 days we'll know who the three quarterbacks are and one guy gets cut Tomlinson set down Hammer Time back in January that one guy like they know that one guy is going to get cut so I look forward to seeing where this where the decision is and this team really was a quarterback away from being able to compete in this league uh last year the rotating quarterbacks just did not work and I look forward to you know some continuity and com some stability at the roster at the position and we'll see where it goes from there so every week I like to do a social media star of the week following all the Ballers social media this week is definitely Bryce tournament uh if you didn't catch the video definitely watch the video uh this kid shows up in a Cleveland Browns hat while Jordan's taking off his cleats and Torrance just starts talking to him you know this is a random kid this isn't youth day this is coming off of practice torn in sweaty and all that and he's taking off his cleats and he talks to the kid and he asks the kid who's your favorite player is and me personally I thought oh he's wearing a brown set who can it be you know like it's Cleveland Browns no he said Trevor Lawrence he has a Clemson fan I'm like okay that's cool you know got kids in Ohio are rooting for Trevor Lawrence and torton says is it the long blonde hair and the kid's like yep that's part of it and Jordan says well I'm trying to grow that out obviously touring does not have long blonde hair and it just it's just another example of how this league is connecting to its communities and the fact that some little nine-year-old eight-year-old he might have been younger I'm not 100 sure got to talk to Bryce tornen you know all U.S fell safety and then he can watch them on TV it just it's just a great look for the league that they're connecting to these communities they're not might not be in all eight cities that the teams represent but they're connecting to the communities I know other hubs have had similar events obviously Youth Day everyone's got it but it seems like the mallers are really connected in the community and becoming that team of uh for eastern Pennsylvania Eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania so that's it for hammer time this week March 29th next week we got first cut day before our next show next show comes out on Wednesdays remember dinner with Webb on team Wednesdays dinner's at 5 p.m grab your dinner grab your device that you can watch YouTube usfl Network subscribe so you can get the alert have dinner listen to web talk about modelers football move on with your day you can kill two birds with one stone eating and maulers it's perfect uh more roster moves I expect some roster move roster moves some more Cuts maybe a couple more ads before uh the final cut down day which is April 8th April 2nd is the first cut down day where everyone's got to be down to 54 so four guys will be cut before the next show so look forward to seeing who not look forward to where with excitement but it'll be interesting to watch these roster moves as Lonnie Young and the coach staff continue to excel in the roster Construction and then this weekend there's supposed to be scrimmages for all a teams uh skip Holtz went on to a radio show in Alabama I believe and said that his stallions are going to Memphis then low from the U.S World Network confirmed that the breakers are going to Memphis so it seems like the hubs are traveling I don't know which way it is in the north if if they're going to Eastern Michigan or they're coming to Canton me personally this is a hundred percent no sources it it would make more sense if they're just regular scrimmages and not a full game that the teams in Michigan come down to Canton because of the fields uh and what the facilities have uh there's an indoor and an outdoor field it seems like for Canton wow the Detroit Hub is practicing at Eastern Michigan and it seems like there's only one field uh the great turf field where they are able to practice so it would make more sense for the Michigan teams to come down but we'll see we'll see I know they really love the Detroit hub so dinner with Webbs dinner with Webb on Wednesdays usable Network subscribe we have 500 subscribers you wanna you wanna win that Turpin Jersey subscribe you automatically enter nothing more nothing less you don't have to pay there's nothing there's nothing just subscribe you get this show you get to spend Wednesday dinners with me there's much more that you need this has
