Can Jayden Daniels SAVE the Commanders? - Washington Commanders 2024 Preview and Schedule Prediction

Intro where do we begin with the woeful Washington commanders I'll tell you somewhere that resides in a Land of Hope because gone is the travesty that was Dan Snyder and Ron Rivera and everything that went with it soon to be gone is the Washington Commander's name a new logo a new Branch a new world for this team but for this season what can they do on a football field that's what today's video is all about breaking down what has changed from 2023 until now going through the three biggest stats that I found on this team looking through that awful year last year and trying to find anything that could tell me what was going to happen for this season and then finally going through every single game on the schedule week by week day by day to tell you how many will they win how many will they lose and where will we be at the end of it and then finally finishing with the best bet I have for this Washington Commander franchise in 2024 and let me tell you I'm more excited than I thought I was going to be Offseason Changes first up let's look at what has changed and I got to say if you began last football season wearing a Washington Commander Insignia on your lapel in any capacity whatsoever chances are you've changed teams by now in the front office on the coaching staff on the football field there has been so much turnover in just 365 days even the president CEO of the company was recently let go earlier this year Everything Has Changed For This Washington football team and I think in a lot of ways good changes have occurred especially on the coaching staff but let's go with the players who has left and there's a Litany of them you can see them next to me right now but really no one here I'm circling and going man they're really going to miss so and so because all of these players underperformed when they were in Washington whether it was their fault or not and the fact that we're sort of washing and new this the bulk of this roster is a good thing seeing the names that are leaving and knowing that none of them are going to lead to wins on their new teams anyway the coaching staff the people that have come in I think Dan Quinn in his second chance here has a chance to do something really special and turn this franchise around and I do think he's probably the best guy to do so I know there were rumors about Washington wanting to go after the Detroit offensive coordinator Dan Quinn is a dude that's going to get everything in order the right way and runs a really good defense did so in Atlanta did in Dallas and now he will do the same here in Washington he brought in a bunch of his guys as you can tell not a lot of these names are sexy the names that are jumping off of the new signes for Washington dorrence Armstrong and Nick Alec gry ain't going to sell a lot of jerseys there but everyone that walked in to this roster is such more a defend a Dependable veteran than what they had before these are dudes that Cleveland Farrell is not going to jump off the page he's not going to have a 20 sack season but he will be a better player than what they were putting out last year after they traded away montz sweat he will care more than a guy like Chase young did for this team everyone on this team is here with something to prove and that's the mindset that Dan Quinn has instilled among this entire roster and the biggest change obviously has to do with the rookies that are coming in we'll talk about Jaden Daniels in a second but pretty much each one of these picks in the first 100 all six of them are going to have big time playing minutes for this team and I'm excited to see how it all plays out Washington must hit on a few of these draft picks if they're going to be successful this year they might be starting a third round tackle or a third round round wide receiver that second round tight end Ben Cate is going to have huge playing time here next to zacker it's a sort of a guy who goes from fullback to tight end to slot receiver all over the place he needs to be dynamic immediately Mike San still is going to be their starting uh uh slot cornerback and needs to play that role with aggression and with determination immediately and of course Jaden Daniels is going to be the day one starter at quarterback I know technically not named the starter yet out of Washington they're playing that game he will be the week one starter we're not playing with Marcus marota and what he can do will take this place into the future faster or slower than we expect but before I get to breaking down the stats and diving into what Jaden could possibly be I do want to talk about what I think are the two biggest additions to this team because as I said Dan Quinn's talked a lot about mindset and changing the culture and doing all those buzzwords that are out there but I can tell you from boots on the ground of people I know in Washington right now Bobby Wagner and Frankie louu are the new leaders of that defense yes still you have uh John Allen and and donon Payne leading the leading the defensive line there they're bullies they're going to be as awesome as always but behind them with louu and Bobby Wagner Bobby Wagner is still one of the best run players in the game an excellent tackler and knows his mind is better than absolutely anybody at the position directing people along the front seven where to go how to go what's going to happen with the play and then louu who was underappreciated in Carolina this guy to come from really just nowhere and do as well as he did in Carolina and make really big money now with Washington is taking this new role he is going to be such a focal point of the blitzes the pressures all the all the focus is going to be on that louu position and he'll be moved all over the formation to be put in attack mode all the time and he is excelling at practice right now and I cannot wait to see it when it comes to NFL Sunday these guys together wag and louu will be the biggest changes I believe for this team and I think if we gave NFL comeback player of the year to teams that's stunk and are now going to be semi-relevant Wagner and louu together would put on a hell of a campaign for that award I'm very excited to see what happens for that team that's enough about the changes let's dive into some of the stats and some of them are Mighty ugly Three Biggest Stats up first is this defense and why Dan Quinn needed to be the addition because stuff needed to change so bad I have by my count seven of the 11 starters on defense being different than what they were last year and thank goodness they are because this defense was bad in just about everything pretty much wherever you look points yards pass rush their numbers were in the 30s out of only 32 they were bad just about everywhere and now we're looking at a bunch of new players and a lot of things need to change the biggest thing that stuck out to me was the big playability of this defense and this offense the offense did did not produce big plays they were 30th in plays 20 yards or longer they were 32nd plays 30 yards or longer we'll talk about the offense in a second but the defense was just as bad on the opposite side and this needs to change and I think will change with an attack mindset of Dan Quinn's defense because this defense last year let up plays 15 yards or longer at the worst rate in the NFL in quite some time over eight plays a game on average the offense washing was when playing against Washington got got to play 15 yards or more let me say that again cuz I stumbled through it eight times a game the opponent's offense got a play that was 15 yards or more down the field that's terrible that's terrible these chunk plays over and over and over again just disheartening to a team that needed everything they could every help they could get and they also did not generate turnovers and if you listen to my Dallas video yesterday you know how much Dan Quinn's uh defenses generate turnovers wherever he goes so I'm excited to see that change in washing Washington but they need to stop the big play if they're going to succeed this year the next stat has to do with the variable stats if you've been watching this channel you know how much I hinge on variable stats basically if a team was really high or really low in one of these statistical categories chances are they're coming back to the mean this year for Better or For Worse Washington has a lot of these variable stats in the worst category the first ones they're just four and six and one score games not a big difference there but it adds on to the negativity factor of this team minus 12 in turnover margin that was terrible last year as we said the defense didn't create a lot Sam Howell threw a lot of interceptions that can't happen this year Jaden Daniels last year 40 touchdowns four interceptions in college hopefully that Trend continues because that would help Washington go a long way as would Dan Quinn being added here and changing what the defense could do as I've already said the biggest one to me though is they were minus 26 in sack margin now this offensive line was not good but they were if you look at some statistical categories like ESPN's pass block win rate they were 14th in that category Sam Howell was a huge factor in taking as many sacks as he did they let up the second most sacks in the NFL Sam how was destroyed over and over again Eric bemy kept on calling pass plays they had the most pass plays on first down when facing the most amount of light boxes per defensive first down it didn't make any sense we have to have a smarter offense we have to protect this offensive line more and that starts with the quarterback getting rid of the ball and also on the other side Chase and montz sweat are gone that might be a good thing for this team they need to create more pressure off the edge and they paid guys like dorrence Armstrong Cleveland frell Frankie louu to do that stuff we'll see if it's successful but they paid the guys to go out there and do it and this Adam Peters group that brought in this new team he's he's he's brought in in free agency and through the draft they're an aggressive mindset guys they're bigger guys they they' have come from that San Francisco uh uh GM world of building a team that is aggressive and large and angry and and that's what we're getting here in Washington this sack margin needs to be better than minus 26 and I think it will be but all of it doesn't matter if they failed at their quarterback pick with the number two overall selection of Jaden Daniels Heisman winner out of LSU kind of a one-year Wonder in LSU a fifth year player there had a long college career a couple of stops and now is entering the NFL one of the most pro- ready quarterbacks entering this year's draft but will it go from C will it transition from college to the pros as seamlessly as you want it to some question marks with his game especially with his frame the way he runs the ball he like he allows himself to take hits and in the NFL they will break him he is not a bigger guy he's not Cam Newton's build by any means however he does have Elite Speed and athleticism and can create huge plays on the ground with his feet when it breaks down through the air but the best part about his game was through the air he was excellent at passing the ball specifically downfield yes he was throwing to two first round wide receivers in those games but he still had ball placement all over the place that was phenomenal and if LSU had any type of defense last year they'd be winning the SEC with how good that offense was kind of underappreciated how good they were in LSU Jaden Daniels to me I think comes in and immediately improves this team 10-fold on the offensive side of the ball I don't think he's going to be you know a top 10 quarterback right away he just will be a compet quarterback and a guy that can make every throw in the book and can see the field much better than Sam Howell did yeah on the cliff Kingsbury offense which has a lot of faults don't get me wrong but it did make Kyler Murray pretty dang impressive those first few years before team started to figure it out the question is do teams start to figure it out here or will Dan Quinn Force Cliff Kingsbury to change things up when he's beating them up in practice every week because he knows what the three routes that one wide receiver is going to run I don't want to get in on Cliff kingsberry he's the only thing that's making me question every I feel about this team because I'm excited for Jaden Daniels Jaden Daniels also if you're a fantasy football player this man averaged uh throughout his entire college career not even the LSU years 60 yards on the ground and had I believe 34 tou rushing touchdowns in his college career he's going to do that in the NFL when he was pressured at LSU this was the Heisman year the best year he had when he was pressured at LSU 50% of the time he either took a sack which is bad or scrambled out of it which is great and as we talked about with this offensive line kind of let up some pressure last year Sam H was the second most pressured quarterback in the league so if Jaden Daniel is going to feel pressure he's going to scoot out and get those rushing yards Sam how could not do that I think Jaden Daniels has a chance to really be special if Caleb Williams didn't exist I would put all of my uh money down on Jaden Daniels to win rookie of the year I think he does help Washington win games how many games Schedule Breakdown though let's find out time to break down the schedule week by week game by game we're going to go be going through these every quarter which one's a win which one's a loss the commanders are projected to have 6 and a half wins this year that means if they go s- 10 they hit the over 6 and 11 they hit the under so not exactly much as expected of them however that's much higher than they had last year the first game's tough for Jaden I don't think uh I'm not a huge fan I should say of Tampa Bay this year compared to where they were last year I thought they lost some key pieces and I've never really been a fan of Todd BS run teams but this defense loves to send blitzes and a first game for a rookie quarterback on the road against a defense that has been playing together for a while and does have some players on that dline that can create some problems I think Jaden struggles here and we have a loss early however next week against the Giants I hate the Giants I think they're terrible this year we'll go over that video tomorrow if you want to see it give me a like give me a subscribe help this channel grow I do truly appreciate it but the Giants if you're a Giants fan you're going to hate tomorrow's video because they stink and you should know that they stink by now Washington and Jaden Daniels gets their first win there before losing the next two on the road yes that's right three of the first four Road games for Jaden Daniels are on the road it's going to be tough sleding to start where one and three however for some reason I really feel like they can beat the Cleveland Browns at home I think that defense really stands up here and I think Jaden makes a million different plays against a very good Cleveland defense even though on the road there might be a little bit of a different Beast it's going to be a tight game a lowc scoring game but I do think Washington pulls this one out before losing to Baltimore next week and then we're back and forth with a couple of wins and losses a fun game against a better Carolina team is a win for Washington before losing the Chicago who's coming off of their by before again beating those awful New York Giants four and five heading into week 10 and we're facing Pittsburgh who is also coming off of their buy Washington kind of got the crap end of the stick from the schedule makers here they lose that Pittsburgh game and they also lose at Philly however the next week is the biggest upset I have for Washington all season long the extra day rest plus Dallas is playing a road game after playing a Prime Time game the week before this is a tougher venue to play at I think Washington pulls off the upset here and I'm very excited to see it and they do beat Tennessee as well heading into the buy very happy to be six and seven one more win to hit this over in four games remaining and listen I don't like New Orleans this year I think with that extra days of rest especially at this point of the Season Washington gets that seventh win right here and then these last three games two of them at home a couple of divisional opponents I think Washington has the chance to play a Big Time spoiler here because all three of these teams are going to be fighting for playoff leads division leads number one seeds this is going to be the cream of the crop that Washington faces right now and Washington technically with this record has a chance at a playoff birth however right now I don't think Washington wins any of these games they they have a chance they're not going to be an easy out at this point of the season but seven- 10 is a very respectable record for Washington I love this team I'm excited for this team I'm excited for the future Washington deserves a football team that matters and I think they're finally getting one and my best Best Bet for 2024 Washington Commanders bet for the year it's a pretty simple one again I'd love to see Jaden Daniels contend for a rookie of the year but when I talk about the Chicago Bears you'll know where I'm leaning on that one but I do think Washington hits this over and I think seven wins is kind of the floor for them I do I think this is a team that could get to eight or nine I I'd be I wouldn't be surprised with that I think it's that big of a leap for Washington this year so the over six and a half at minus 120 I think is an easy play and I don't mind taking those minus 120 odds for a bet that I I think is pretty certain to hit I like Washington a lot a lot of people don't but I believe in Jaden Daniels and I mostly I believe in Dan Quinn I think this guy's going to turn this defense around almost overnight will it be a top 10 unit no but it won't be a bottom 30 and that's
