Oklahoma State vs NCAA, Arkansas Big 3 & Bobby Petrino

who knew that the NCAA could yet again prove they're not much more than a bunch of propaganda pushing puppets and Oklahoma State versus Arkansas is kind of the epitome of a lose lose scenario for the struck again it seems to be that they have some fun fancy fixation on Stiller Oklahoma this is not the first interaction that went negatively with the NCAA what this does do is prove that the is not much more than a bunch of propaganda pushing puppets because if the SEC would have come out with this idea if it was Alabama or Georgia would have come up with this revolutionary move the NCA would be praising it they would be talking about how this is going to change the game and it's going to make things much much more streamlined for the players which is what the NC is supposed to be there for is for the players this doesn't really seem like a move that's beneficial for the players this is only beneficial for one particular party and that seems to be the NCAA but I don't buy it let me know down in the comments section for those of you on YouTube what you think because I don't buy their their excuse saying that it's um you know like illegal marketing essentially well yeah duh but that's all this new age college football era is it's marketing and again it's supposed to be marketing for the players which is something the NCAA is supposed to be all about but they're going to find a way at some point in time to make this thing a reality it's just going to take somebody more than Oklahoma State bringing it to the Forefront which I think is going to be pretty pretty normal the fun fact here though is somebody threw a hissy fit because it wasn't their idea and they found a way for the NCAA to get involved not surprising it's Oklahoma State versus the NCAA there's there's a history here just like there's a history of Oklahoma State playing Arkansas you have to go back quite a ways to get to that history but from a historical perception this is a pretty cool game this is a pretty big deal I think a lot of us were pretty excited most people were pretty excited about the game because it's an SEC style matchup and From The Trenches perspective we would get a very good understanding of where we stack not only on the o line but on the dline but now we're seeing that they do a lot more than just that they have some guys on the perimeter that's going to make this game very interesting but this is kind of what I'm rolling into this being a lose lose scenario for Oklahoma State to some degree as was uh the South Dakota State because they are an FCS team and for the casual people who don't watch a lot of college football they think that a power three team should always and forever beat an FCF Squad more often than not yes I agree with that but there are a couple uh you know limitations or I guess exceptions those exceptions would be South Dakota State North Dakota State but never mind I digress we're here to talk about the fact that whether we beat Arkansas or not this is not going to be beneficial to Oklahoma State because if we lose to Arkansas people will nationally say well of course they beat Arkansas Arkansas was a lower tier SEC Squad even with KJ Jefferson I personally think that they have a massive upgrade right now at the quarterback position that does change things significantly for Arkansas it's really hard to judge what their defense could do because they did play Arkansas Pine Bluff and they won like 70 to nothing don't get too pumped up and hyped up Arkansas fans the Cowboys beat Arkansas Pine Bluff like 63 to7 a couple years ago and then the season was completely derailed much much quickly after that very quickly after that I know words are hard for me the season got derailed in 2022 after we beat Arkansas Pine Bluff 63 to7 so it kind of gave us a little bit of a a false sense of accomplishment a false sense of security and the biggest thing though was the locker room so that was the difficulty with Oklahoma State in 2022 there was some contentious relationships and there were some guys like Spencer sers who had a little bit of a crew that disagreed with some of the meetings that happened and some of the play calling as you got closer to the TCU game and Beyond including Texas Tech but that doesn't really give you a good understanding of where you are as a ball Club because Oklahoma State experienced the same thing we felt pretty good after beating him 63 to7 with a lot of our backups in the ball game but it didn't end up very well for us unfortunately Arkansas Pine Bluff has ranked number 128 out of 129 FCS ball clubs so if South Dakota state is the best team in the FCS uh Arkansas Pine Blu is the second worst team in the entirety of the FCS so I don't know really what you can read off of that from a defensive standpoint but offensively 10 drives and 10 touchdowns not 10 drives and 10 scores 10 drives and 10 touchdowns with with essentially three different quarterbacks that is impressive like that's hard to replicate even if you're on air even if you're against a a scout team going 10 for 10 for 10 touchdowns that is absolutely Preposterous so shout out to Sam Pitman for being able to bring on an offensive coordinator that is very Innovative very creative and going to be a problem in Stater Oklahoma as we witnessed from SDSU the dline didn't do near enough the offensive line did okay in some are but we expected more so I think we we should expect more for this game but from an offensive perspective you know Sam Pitman said this might be a slobber knocker it might end up being a shootout putting 70 points up against anybody is difficult like if you were to play the top high school team in the country I don't know that they'd be able to you know replicate that that same production 10 for 10 for 10 tutes that's ridiculous so this Arkansas offense is uh probably going to cause Brian Nardo not to have any sleep throughout the course of the week I know if I were Brian Nardo I probably wouldn't sleep much mobile quarterbacks are always an issue for every defense whenever you have the 335 it does give us a little bit more of a leveraging opportunity with the outside linebacker instead of having to use utilize maybe a m middle linebacker as the the quarterback spy you can use somebody that has the athleticism of a call and Oliver to do a little bit more so I do think that Brian aro's defense does set themselves up to be able to contain a quarterback like this at least to some degree but he is very very talented and it's not just him they have a three-headed monster offensively that everyone in the country is going to know most of these names by the end of the season so let's talk about some of these dudes because I'll tell you if you've ever wanted to see Tony Lindsay Justice Hill and Blake Darwin play in Stillwater again it's coming we're about to see it they just might happen to be wearing a different colored Jersey speaking of different colored the game just visit ultimate dcf.com that is Ultimate CF cfb.isd app Source ultimate college football HC begin your coaching Legacy today Sim pitman's coaching Legacy at Arkansas has a little been a little up and down they look very promising at one point in time then they're very disappointing at another point in time then they had to kind of reach into the portal to try to kind of make this thing make more sense what appears as though they have done so by grabbing somebody out of Boise State that I think is very reminiscent of a Tony Lindsay guys I don't know if I want to go too too far but outside of outside of that they also have somebody that I think is very reminiscent to Justice Hill and outside of that they have a tight end that should never have gotten outside of the state of Oklahoma because he's from Bixby but Luke HW all right to quinnon Jackson is uh um a bad mama jama and then the quarterback the transfer from Boise state is phenomenal ton green now he has some limitations throwing the ball which is why I do feel like this is a fair comp Tony Lindsay was a bad dude and if he happened to get out of the pocket he was going to be able to extend the the game a little bit longer for him to find an open wide receiver but at times he would still miss open targets I think that kayin green is somewhat comparable that's why I went with somebody like Kon Lindsay as opposed to maybe Lamar Jackson right athletically you could put him up there towards the topper the upper echelon of quarterbacks in the country let alone the SEC and then the quarterback or the running back sorry who used to be a quarterback at Texas converted to a a running back at Utah is now the main running back in Arkansas and that dude is worth every penny if you're looking at price of admission and then lcaw the Oki That Got Away it's sad to see that him at Arkansas it's even more sad to see the fact that he absolutely is dominant like he might be one of the best tight ends in the SEC right here no there's no might be he is one of the best tight ends in the SEC right here right now so it goes beyond Ken green it goes beyond you know um Johnson and it also goes far beyond Luke HW but you have to have a big three to be super competitive Oklahoma state has a big three of course whether you look at the offensive side of the ball or the defensive side of the ball defensively speaking I do think that Arkansas does have quite a few limitations which is precisely why I do think this could end up being more of a shootout than a slobber knocker no disrespect Sam Pitman I think you probably know a little bit more about football than I do but from watching that offense and watching Oklahoma State's offense this might end up being a a shootout which is kind of ironic because they do run a lot of Ace formations 12 personnel which which means your your big guys up front are going to get a little bit more work I do indeed believe that means we're going to be able to use a lot more four down look I understand the you know we talked about yesterday the vanilla keeping everything very very basic for game one I'm sure they did a lot of the same things even in staying basic though if you watch their packaging compared to Oklahoma State's packaging it was entirely different they were pretty vanilla Without You showcasing a whole lot but they did show a lot of different formations they did use a lot of the the different areas of screens not just a bubble screen they would incorporate the tunnel screen they would go from 11 personnel to 12 Personnel they would do empty backfield so again there's a difference between being vanilla and and being overly predictable Arkansas was not they were a little bit vanilla but they were definitely not predictable because of how many different formations they were willing to use and how many guys they were willing to to switch in and out of certain spots now we're going to do a little bit more of a film breakdown and today was supposed to be a film breakdown of SDSU but let's face it I jumped in to learn a little bit more about kayn the quarterback and I ended up watching a lot of Arkansas stuff therefore we're just going to hit you with the big week because it is a massive week what went from you know what what seemingly should have been a w has now grown legs and it's become something much more Dynamic and much more interesting to watch now I'm sure that whatever contingent of Arkansas fans was considering maybe not coming to Stillwater maybe some of those are in fact going to find their way to uh Stillwater Oklahoma and you know what apparently we have some room I know last week was a sellout but getting some pictures there was a decent amount of empty seats for it being a sellout not a fan of that we're not in a Baylor scenario thank goodness though but Arkansas fans are likely going to show up for this one now even more so because they have reason to do so and the reason being is that that big three offensively is going to be extremely difficult to stop let alone slow down so this is going to be a massive test for for Brian Nardo just like this is going to be a massive test for our defense again the defensive line didn't really do much against South Dakota state it would be driving a hard bargain to assume they're going to be able to do much against this Arkansas offensive line but again if there's going to be a moment where you kind of set yourself up to be on NFL films this is a game to do it right right just like uh their their Center Gus Miller that was his opportunity to go up against NFL siiz guys toh put forth some NFL film and he was able to do that right you got to call a spade a spade Gus Miller did that now we have this opportunity with an SEC opponent which does go back to the lose lose if you beat Arkansas people say oh great it's a crappy Arkansas but if you lose to to Arkansas You Know It uh it it it's still it's a lose lose scenario because then you lost to a very lower tier SEC school and this is the perception right this is what's going to be talked about from a national perspective it's a lose lose if you you beat them great you were supposed to beat him if you don't beat him it's like oh crud the the world's falling because Oklahoma State can't beat you know a pedestrian Arkansas this offense is not very pedestrian it kind of goes back to some of the the you know differentiation between the FCS and FBS more often than not yes an FCS school should not be able to beat an FBS opponent but there's some FCF schools that have so many legitimate transfers and they have a coaching staff that has been able to put forth a particular program that makes them better than most everyone else I don't know that Arkansas necessarily has a program per se that they're using to build but I will say that they have maybe the one of the most most Innovative offensive coordinators in the game there's nobody that would argue the fact that Bobby patrino can call plays up with the best of them which is why he has had several head coaching opportunities and realistically speaking when he does get head coaching opportunities he does pretty dag on good there's not really been a stretch where he's been viewed as a bad coach or you know he has a resume of him not being good at the X's and O's side of the game yeah maybe he does a little bit too much but we're talking no motorcycles no secretaries just football just calling an offense and he clearly he still got his fast ball curveball slider splitter he's got every single one of them left in his Arsenal and he was able to Showcase that while still being very very vanilla he was able to utilize some of the shifts and some of the concepts and some of the different formations to confuse Arkansas Pine Bluff Arkansas Pine Bluff didn't even really need a whole lot of confusion but they got it like there's a a couple mesh Concepts in the red zone that Arkansas ran that aren't normal right your mesh Concepts maybe it's a slot and a tight end kind of conversion and and Crossing each other up in the middle of the field he was following that back up with another wide receiver so you had like a triple mesh concept which I've never seen before that's something that that Bobby patrino has implemented here at Arkansas that is again proving why he's one of The Visionaries in the game when it comes to the offensive play calling this is a this is going to be a chess match for somebody whether it be Bobby patrino or even Sam Pitman Mike Gundy Casey D Brian Nardo this will be a situation where somebody ends up playing chess and somebody ends up playing checkers like many of you I hope it's the cowboys that end up on the chess side of the board but you never know and that that running back to come you know quarterback from Texas then to Utah to Quin Jackson that dude is very Justice Hill like and Luke hos might be better than Blake jaran I might actually being slightly disingenuous on that one I will not be disingenuous about you picking up your energy game with Five Hour Energy because it's the best in the game I think you already know that or else uh or else you about this patrino offense we don't know anything about the D we now know quite a bit about the offense and if you watch some of the stuff that ton green was able to do at Boise State it was very easy to understand why it was you know a carryover in game one as an Arkansas Razer back we all know how good Jackson was at Utah so this is not a big surprise I will say that his vision and ability to cut in the back field is a little bit more advanced than I remembered from him being at Utah I thought he was a little bit more north south at Utah but evidently I might be wrong or he just happened to get uh a little bit faster but regardless this is a very very good combination of dudes and then at wide receiver they've got some guys I can't recall his his Tes law that that slot receiver number four he was he was pretty awesome he remind me a lot of a Bo bowling style of guy David gliden style of guy very sure-handed very good route Runner very understanding of where to settle down in the zone to help the quarterback which is going to be a necessity because ton green does have a propensity to bounce out of the pocket a little bit more than normal there's several times where he could have stepped up in the pocket or or stayed more in the pocket and he would have had some some deep drives downfield but him rolling out of the pocket that spells a disaster for most DBS because it's about the internal clock it's a quarterback has an internal clock to get rid of the ball a DB has an internal clock that that knows all right if my dline hasn't got to him by yet this dude's about to change his route and I don't know what's coming next that timelining area becomes a little bit more problematic when you have a mobile quarterback not to mention the fact that typically you have to have a spy so you have to bring in an extra safety thankfully the 335 aka the 425 that's a little more fancy has that built into it whether it's going to be a stand up outside linebacker that that plays a little bit more of a pseudo defensive end r or vice versa you have somebody like Colin Oliver that can put his hand in the dirt but also split back to go cover the numbers and cover the hash if need be it's going to be instrumental for Arkansas to have that type of showing offensively and this is going to be a wonderful test for Brian Nardo I believe so much in this defense I believe so much in Brian Nardo we had a lot of Miss tackles the other day we had a lot of guys picking the wrong holes picking the wrong lane which led to some chunk plays we didn't get enough pressure on the quarterback which has me pretty nervous but you know if he breaks contain I think we'll be okay he will do better by staying in the pocket to at least some degree and buying himself a little more time because if we can't get a pass rush like we didn't really much of last week then there's no need for him to do a bunch of running around right that's what we saw at a spenner Sanders Spencer Sanders would sometimes just run for the sake of running regardless of what was happening with wi receivers taylon green seems to have a little bit of that in him so if we can force him to be uncomfortable it could be a difficult game for him nothing in Arkansas Pine Bluff was going to be a difficult proposition for most anyone on the Arkansas Squad so I know what Sam Pitman had to say but and and I would love it to be a slobber knocker I would but it almost feels like What offense can do more which is a cause for concern because if we get in a shootout that comes down to offensive Innovative play calling I know I will catch some heat for this but I'm not betting on Casey Dunn so this is more of a Bobby patrino versus Brian Nardo scenario for me we need Brian Nardo to step up and have his biggest game of all time yes last year you know he did chip in a lot in in fourth quarters to equal wins and even in this this most recent game against South Dakota State University the first you know few plays in a drive yes we give up chunks we have some issues but they were zero for four on fourth down and they were like three for 15 or something like that on on third down so we still are able to to step up in big moments under Brian Nardo Arkansas is going to rip off some chunk plays they have more than enough speed and talent to to make some things happen but Bron Ardo this has got to be your day this has to be your game because let's face it there might not be another offensive coordinator in the Big 12 that is as creative as Innovative and as aggressive as Bobby patrino you know it's it it's kind of one of those things that you'd rather lose by 80 than not try to score 80 type of thing AKA you rather be insanely aggressive and give up some turnovers in a game that you maybe not supposed to win anyways as opposed to the former this cannot be a track me in my opinion if it is a track me that that means every possession matters significantly more and if SDSU had a good game plan to slow down Oly Gordon which they were able to do even though olle Gordon just got kicked up a notch from 104 carry 104 yards to 126 yards that little that screen dump pass that equal a touchdown where he dodged like five dudes that was in front of line scrimmage so they're actually considering that or behind the line scrimage so are considering that a run so his 126 yards yes it was nice right but it ain't going to be enough to outscore this Arkansas offense this needs to be a Bobby patrino vers Brian Nardo scario this does not need to be Bobby patrino versus Casey Dunn scenario or maybe maybe I will be pleasantly surprised and Casey Dunn was being extremely vanilla to vanilla but maybe purposely against SDSU to save a bunch of the fun wrinkles for this game now I know we'd like to hide a lot of stuff till Utah but at this point in time what do the matter I mean we we didn't rotate any of the the backups a whole lot when the game was out of hand so that was a little bit confusing so if we're going for broke we're trying to step on the throat and put people out of their misery we've got to see it this week now I would love to be surprised by Casey Dunn right and if it ends up in a shootout and he finds way schematically to outduel Bobby patrino I promise you we'll have a show where we basically do nothing but praise Casey Dunn and I'll eat a little bit of crow I do not want a shootout though between patrino and Dunn I don't want it let me know down in the comments section for my YouTube folks out there do you want a track meet between Casey Dunn and Bobby patrino or would you rather see Brian Nardo step up to the plate for more than just a quarter he does really good at Fourth quarters he does really good on third down really good on fourth down but collectively as a whole our our defense still has some issues right Jeff Robertson great to see him out there great to see him playing missed a lot of tackles Kendall Daniels great to see him at linebacker great to see him a mely approached the the line of scrimmage but missed the wrong holes took the wrong reads too many Miss tackles Nick Martin looked phenomenal Trey Rucker looked like a man possessed and on a mission but the rest of the team was two tackles three tackles one tackle two tackle two tackle one tackle two tackle three tackles so it was basically two dudes on the defense for Oklahoma State making all of the tackles and then Cory black locking down his defender on the outside um we will break down more of the arkans saw you know offense from a collective whole standpoint not just those big three but those big three are a big deal and I don't want to track me with Bobby patrino whatsoever because I don't see Casey Dunn being creative or Innovative enough to do that so this has to be the game where we see Brian Nardo do the dag on thing for multiple quarters instead of just one and on multiple down instead of just a couple this is the game where Brian Naro needs to prove that he is a little bit of a Chessmaster we just haven't all been able to see it yet from an eyeballs perspective it's Arkansas they just put up 70 points they are in the SEC aka the NCAA network so there is going to be people watching I hope it's uh an interesting game but at the same time I hope that we find a way to schematically slow down that big three they're going to do good they're going to score but we need to prevent it as as much as possible any booo that's all we're going to have where this one AR rise here as always you know I love you God bless go pokes thank you for tuning in to make this your first listen here in lockdown Oklahoma State you could be anywhere so happy you choose to be here like it if you like the D only thing dislike it if you don't
