JOAQUIN PHOENIX DROPS OUT OF MOVIE, Will This Affect The Box Office Of Joker 2?

[Music] what's going on everyone welcome back to my Channel today I'm talking about Walkin Phoenix dropping out of his movie and if that's going to affect the box office for Joker 2 now Walken Phoenix owns the rights to a certain project that he's very passionate about and he wanted to be the lead role now keep in mind this is going to become important information in just a minute the basic plotline of this movie is a very intense gay love story so Wen Phoenix wanted a certain director for the project he sought out that director they had a meeting they agreed on terms the director signed on and everything was getting ready for this film cast and crew were assembled and this project was finalized and ready to go and just a couple of weeks ago the news broke that 5 days before the movie was supposed to start filming walking Phoenix suddenly dropped out of the project now we can speculate we can speculate as to why he dropped out I'm sure there's different reasons but pretty much online everyone is saying that he got cold feet about the role remember the basic plotline of the film is an intense gay love story so pretty much walking Phoenix felt that he couldn't 100% commit to the project and what the role required so he just up and left and because he did that I'm assuming the rights went along with him so they're not going forward with the movie because a lot of people were asking well why can't you just recast the role and the director said we're not doing that so I'm just assuming I could be wrong but I'm assuming because Wen does own the rights to the project because he left the project officially just got shut down so this whole entire situation is extremely unfortunate because the cast and crew are affected they're now unemployed it's not a good look for walking Phoenix and also it's just unfortunate that this role did not go to an openly gay actor because clearly if Walken Phoenix felt like he could not do it that's a problem there why did you not just hire an openly gay actor to begin with it would not have been an issue Walken Phoenix I feel like he just really wanted to be handson and a part of it but he could have done that in a producer role if he felt un comfortable in any kind of way if he felt like you know like people are saying he couldn't bring 100% of himself to that part that's okay he could still have been a producer and have been Hands-On but he just made the wrong decision and I guess he kind of made the right decision by if he did feel uncomfortable in any way he did back out of it but backing out last minute backing out last minute is just really putting everyone in a difficult position and just him leaving the project entirely and taking the rights with him I mean at least let them let them make the movie but they're not they're no longer going to make the film so now it's a bad look for him and apparently this is something that I did not know Wen has done before he has walked away from projects He even almost walked away from Joker believe it or not I'm not really sure why he almost walked away from Joker but apparently Todd Phillips had to have a a very intense conversation with waen to get him to stay and so he did and he won the Academy Award for it so I mean this is something that he has a history of doing it's not a good look he really needs to stop doing it because now with putting all of these people in a position that they are unemployed he's pissed off a lot of people and this is going to come into effect with something I'm going to mention in just a couple of minutes because when you're working in Hollywood every single job that you have gets you you know to the next couple of months until your next project employment in Hollywood is never guaranteed for anyone I think we all know this so now all of the these people cast and crew are unemployed where they thought they were going to be working for a couple of months now they're not and so now they're all in you know difficult Financial situations because they have to wait for their next project to come along or if they're signed up for something they have to wait for that start date so pretty much Wen doing this has put a lot of people in very difficult situations now let's talk about Joker 2 and the box office and if this entire situation is going to affect that well I will say the timing is kind of bad because Joker 2 is coming out in just a month October 4th that is the release date and like I mentioned this news about waen dropping out of this film was released a couple of weeks ago like two three weeks ago so it's not the best timing in the world however I don't think that the news about this is going to affect the box office I do think it's going to affect something else because when we're talking about box office numbers everyday people going to the movies everyday people aren't really invested in news like this I mean I'm invested because it's what I like to talk about it's in my my realm so to speak I'm all about movies movies ins Su you know like this is my thing I'm like obsessed with pop culture but the everyday person is not so they go to the movies because they want to see a movie or they don't want to go and see a movie it's cut and dry it's very clear so if someone wants to go and check out Joker 2 they're going to check it out they're not going based upon this news and it's not affecting their life so they're not going to be concerned with that if you know what I'm saying they're going to see the movie or they're not going to see the movie it's a very basic decision but where I think wen's very poor choice is going to affect him is during award season because as you guys know I just mentioned it a couple minutes ago Wen won best actor for playing Joker a couple of years ago and getting nominated and possibly winning for Joker 2 it could happen you never know however now that he has done this it's really put his chances in limbo because who do you think votes during award season all of these people that walking Phoenix has pissed off from this movie that's not going to get made they're part of the academy they're part of sag they are award season voters so do you really think that they are going to vote for him to win or to be nominated and win for a different movie probably not so I feel like going into award season for this coming year for Joker 2 I mean you never know maybe Joker 2 might not get recognized although I would find that hard to believe but going into this coming award season Joker 2's chances may be diminished slightly because of this because waen pissed off so many people and especially his chances for best actor because do you think these people from the cast and the crew of this defunct movie are going to vote for him especially to win most likely not so it's just a very interesting like little like you know effect like a ripple effect you know because he caused this to happen by dropping out but not realizing that what you've just done may possibly affect award season in the future for your other movie that is coming out in just a couple of weeks so that's pretty much the entire Walkin Phoenix story again it's just something that I wanted to address and talk about because I just want to start talking about pop culture news and I thought this was an important story to discuss and I did give my opinion I do think that waen just if the doubt was there he shouldn't have signed on not in that capacity he should have been a producer maybe he should have taken the Reigns and he should have been the director of the movie I mean people do it all the time in Hollywood if you're that passionate about a project and you want to control it he should have been the director but he kind of just you know I hate to say coward but he really kind of just took the Cowardly way out and dropped out with no real explanation he's in Venice right now promoting Joker too and people are asking him about this movie and he's not making comments at all he's not addressing it because he's saying that you know the other people affected by my choice are not here so it's not fair of a question to ask me he's avoiding answering any questions about this subject so I just thought it was interesting it's a shame that this occurred now all these people are affected I feel really bad for them but you know what hopefully the next job will come along and everyone can you know get the ball rolling again on their end but this is really unfortunate because I can probably guarantee lawsuits are going to be filed because of loss of wages on the cast and cruise end and walking Phoenix is just going to have to Pony up some money so this is going to end up costing him big so those are my thoughts my
