TKS away we go in the Splash and Dash the men's multiclass 50 m freestyle final it's Gallagher in four CRS in five and they're showing up already look at gallager go they won't be be too many breaths taken in the 50 m freestyle when he's edging in front again CRS with work to do in Lane number five we'll check the time qualifying time 24 flat Gallagher wins again at 235 and CRS gets his qualifying time as well they're both on the playe to Paris what a rivalry they are building these two Tom I'm going to start with you congratulations you had a blistering 50 this morning again tonight and you've still got the mo yeah it was all about the process this week really for me um the time's time's cool but just executing the race correctly and I'll go back with my coach now and see how I've done speaking of Coach Ash Callis you were a 400 freestyler in Tokyo had to recalibrate find a way to do the Sprint events you must be so proud with that swim yeah it's not so bad um from the background I had for 400 moving down to the 50s definitely a bit bit of a step but I've got Ash in my corner and uh I think he knows what he's talking about so I think he's a fair Sprinter so yes congratulations you're on the plane to Paris well done thank you thank you and over to you Rowan once again an incredible swim you've already got two gold medals from the 50 at the par Olympics how would a third go yeah I mean winning a third gold medal would be pretty cool but at the end of the day I don't think it's about me we're here at the trials to make the Australian team and it's about the team like yes sure I just raced Tommy right there we might be competitiv right now but we're going to Paris as teammates and as long as one of us gets gold and one of us gets silver I'm happy as Larry I can say that cuz you missed qualifying a little bit this morning so you knew you had to try and put the qualifying time in tonight what changed between heat and final yeah we've been putting a lot of work into just trying to get things right with my stroke and my technique I've been trying to get through the 53 without taking a breath and my lungs just aren't good enough for that so I probably need to do a little bit more work in that corner but we took a breath tonight and I swam like3 faster so that was nice but we've still got a lot of work to do if I want to get back to my PB I love saying wrong CRS you can go faster congratulations to both of you you're on the way to Paris thank you very much Alexa lir already posting a qualifying time this morning yeah she swam 2804 in the heat she's in Lane number four alongside dedicant two different classifications they swim in here so way we go in the women's multiclass 50 m freestyle Alexa shows up in Lane number four dediced off to a really nice start in Lane number five the center of the pool our Focus right now Rachel Watson going along nicely as well in Lane number number one in her S4 category but it's Lex ly in front of dedin here here is Steven showing up as well not too far away in Lane number three but it's Alexa ly Bound for Paris as a paralympian how's the time it's another qualified time for Lex a little Flex for Lex she's B for Paris and dedan not too far away in 2805 CIO D and just 03 outside of that qualifying time Rachel what coming into the wall at 41.2 just a second or so outside the qualifying time so it'll be up to selector discretion whether she makes the trip to Paris to defend her title Alexa three years ago you were lying in a hospital bed fighting for your life you just qualified for your first par Olympics yeah Lex woo now I'm trying not to get emotional because your journey has been meteoric you have been so strong so incredible and this dream only materialized a few years ago as I just said but how big a part has that played in your recovery oh massive like I've actually come so far I'm so impressed I'm even in the water I'm like yeah Lex like you come so far you have come so far and what we also love is that you look like you're are having an absolute ball every time you come out onto pool deck you're dancing you're driving you're singing along Ellie actually said that she'd like to maybe make a playlist for you a song request would you like that yes definitely like I even said to my coach when we were at Worlds we made a playlist because I love listening to music before I before I race before I train or anything I've got to have music I think that can be a diva demand at the par Olympics in Paris for you now tell me about your family they have been extraordinary they've been by your bedside they've been instrumental in your recovery how much will this mean to them as well oh a lot they actually I would mostly say they are probably the the reason why I am here because they stuck by my side for six months in that hospital never let go of me they certainly did no me cry we promised we wouldn't cry we promise at this point but your support team around you they nearly thought that they lost you yeah and now here you are we know you've already represented your country at Commonwealth Games but now you're actually going to the par Olympics I'm so excited I'm like it's the Crepes for me speaking of your family they are so excited as well and Ros Kelly has them in the crowd right now Gian Russell and Belinda lry here of course understandable emotions they are absolutely overflowing here your daughter 3 years ago you were preparing to say goodbye to her now she's headed to Paris it's unbelievable you know to think that you know we had 6 months in the hospital never meant to walk or talk again and she's off to the Olympics it's obviously been such a tough few years for you Belinda how important was this dream for not only Alexa but your entire family yeah it's been incredibly important um especially seeming like R said you know she wasn't meant to live let alone walk or talk but to see her such a big personality and we got such a different daughter back I love her personality she's funny she's crazy but you know most importantly she's fulfilling her dreams um what she wanted to do prior to becoming in the Paris she always wanted to be go to the Olympics that was her thing always Lexi is still here down on the pool deck what message would you like to give her she can hear you now Benny you're a bloody legend a honey we love you we're so proud of you couldn't be more prouder and I just can't wait to to see you know see how you go and yeah watch this space hey you're going to do and and a really big thanks to a coach John like he's the Alexa Whisperer I mean you got to put up with a lot of crap from her I'll give you the drill but an amazing job John thank you and the community that wrapped their arms around you as well the whole world got behind her after accident you know that that you know she she turned a lot of heads and yeah she's done an amazing job incredible look how World Here Comes Alexa oh my God congratulations well Martin look for 57.4 take your marks away in the men's 100 m butterfly final Tim Hodge in Lane number one set a qualifying time earlier today in the S9 Dean but in two Cole Pierce in three h in Four showing up already sappy in five scha in six will Martin in seven Lewis Bishop in Lane number eight but look at Ben Hance already Ben H taking out the field not quite as fast as he looked this morning but if we remember his Heat swim this morning he did struggle with that last 15 M so I'm sure uh Ashia his coach certainly gave him some advice with pacing this event knowing that that last 10 m may be challenging for Ben H but he's already a body length ahead out we also have Cole Pierce from ning who's doing an excellent job and Alex sappy also another S10 competitor aiming for that qualifying time of 57.4 so can HS be strong on the wall here we'll check the time oh 5551 an even better qualifying time he got the back end right tonight he loves it world record holder in the 100 backstroke and look at the time in the 100 met butterfly now let's hear from the qualifiers with Ben congratulations you're off to another par Olympic Games oh thank you very much that was an exceptional Swim tonight under qualifying time we know that you're the gold medalist in the 100 back bronze medalist in the 100 fly what does it mean and I'm going to be the gold medalist in Paris in the fly tell them I'm ready you heard it here first Benny H congratulations he's left it up to you Tim Hodge two-time paralympian already what does it mean to you to book your ticket to Paris um it's to be honest just a dream come true um ever since I made my first team I kind of said in my myself I want to come back every year and try and make every team since then and I've been lucky enough to say that I've done it so far and uh to get under the the qualifying time tonight um is just kind of a continuation of that promise to myself that I'd give it my best and uh hopefully fingers crossed it all turns out all good when you are such an experienced athlete this is not your first rodeo is there a sense of relief of making the team here at these trials uh yeah definitely um it's it's obviously the the biggest stepping stone on the way to Paris to book your ticket on the team and uh um and be able to to make the qualifying time is a a a huge uh leap I guess and uh I'm I'm very thankful I've been able to do it tonight well very thankful to say that you're on your way to Paris congratulations Tim Hodge cheers thank you thanks everyone but as Lori Lawrence says stuff the silver we're going for gold got to hit that qualifying time first though three different categories in this multiclass final S9 S10 S14 swimmers represented Greenwood being steady on the blocks as you mentioned you may have notied that Greenwood was being steady on the Block she does have issues around balance and is allowed to have assistance onto the blocks as well as to steady herself on the blocks as long as that assistant doesn't push her forward at the start they must remove their hands quite intentionally but great start from Jasmine Greenwood she's looking relaxed down the first 50 very even start as well there's pressure being applied by Ruby storm you mentioned the torpeda bench is close in Lane number three and in Lane number six Taylor Cory going along very nicely indeed in fact Cory turns in front Cory touching the wall first turning out in front Greenwood just behind her9 of a second but watch out for Ruby storm these are the three that will be trying to get that qualifying time onto our Paris par Olympic team one of the best races of the meet so far the women's 100 m butterfly multiclass and Jazz Greenwood now just edging her way in front but Ruby storm trying to fight back in Lane three Cory just falling a little bit off the pace in Lane six look at the Finish from beof timing her run in Lane number five but it's Greenwood who will hit the wall first does she get the qualifying time she does so is broft what an effort and the reaction from broft says it all but Jaz Greenwood 10 768 a convincing qualifying time J I'll start with you congratulations that a bit of relief in making that Paris team absolutely I was really nervous this morning didn't quite execute my race right and then I don't know how I did that but I'm so happy so yeah I can't complain Tokyo silver medalist what does it mean for you to go again uh well it means everything to me this is what I do every day it's my job so hopefully I get to do it again I think you will qualifying time tonight well done we're incredibly proud of you we can't wait to see you in Paris over to you Emily I know that qualifying time was so incredibly tough for you you must be so proud with that swim tonight yeah definitely um like jazz I wasn't too happy with my swim this morning um yeah so I'm just super relieved that I put together a good race tonight and got the um time so two-time parping already going to a third yeah um getting a tiny bit older now but um I'm just yeah so H happy to um have Summer Good race tonight and yeah looking forward to Paris woohoo congratulations ladies that was an exceptional Swim tonight with hard qualifying times well done thank you getting the body right hasn't always been Cooperative throughout his journey doctors suggested he should only do two sessions a week otherwise his body wouldn't hold up but scooter wasn't having it doing all those sessions and he feels like it's improved and strengthened some of his suspect joints like the shoulders the hips well they've had their moments say scooter we see that's quite common within our paralympic team because of the impairments usually on one side of the body we always have to overcompensate with other parts of our body so par Olympic athletes are actually more prone to injury than our Olympic counterparts but off he goes he did swim at qualifying time this morning on a spine chilling race but he is out to best that qualifying time he's already booked his ticket to the Paris 24 par Olympic games in April and as you can hear he is a crowd favorite as well among all of the spectators here in cha tonight worked so hard under his lifelong coach Herby Howard in cans for the past 17 years working on that Fitness look at the underwater shot as scooter goes after it here trying to improve his time from earlier today in the Heats when he swam a 10489 crowd trying to will him home here with about 18 M to go he's got the qualifying timeline covered it appears again here scooter gr scooter patteron out 35-year-old queenslander from Kansas this is actually his fifth par Olympic trial he is buying for his third par Olympic team which he has qualified for this morning digging deep scooter Patterson another qualifying time 10425 inspiring a nation with every stroke one of the great characters Grant scooter Patterson a one-man show to saver you're off to your third par Olympics coing woo now your is a story of resilience you missed the Beijing team made your first par Olympics in London missed Rio silver and bronze medalist in Tokyo what's happening in Paris my friend oh mate I'm just over the moon to do that swim and go my third par Olympics I was watching um bran Hall Jr last night get his fifth par Olympics and I say mate that's awesome um and to come out here and get myself on the third paralympic team is pretty pretty awesome well especially can I say that you're the old man of the team 35 years young but I heard a rumor that you might be trying to go all the way to Brisbane 2032 well with penciling me my coach Herby he's down there pening 2032 I don't know the body will last that long but we'll go year for year but um I was hoping you play the Jurassic par theme song when I walk out cuz I'm old don't tell Herby that well you mentioned your coach Herby you've been with Herby for what 17 years years 17 years that's longer than the ARs Mar in Australia pull it there what do you want to say to Herby and all of those that have supported you along this journey sorry Herby mate you're a legend 17 years of marriage is pretty awesome um he's a great B have ups and down sometimes but you know 17 years is a long time we're going for um the Campell sisters record 20 years so he's a pretty awesome guy absolutely we can't congratulate you enough you're off to Paris scooter thanks everyone and thanks everyone for coming out to support a lot of my friends and family are here harres D Dan Olivia thanks for coming aw and now I'm going to introduce you to someone special Andrew Herby how Carl what's it like to coach a short person uh yeah yeah good I'm I'm the only 6'2 coach in Australia living in the shadow of so I'm doing all right um mate it's been an amazing journey uh plenty of ups and downs obviously what G said before missed out Beijing London Rio miss out there come back Tokyo what's the highlights for you um probably when you retired but it's uh no it's been an awesome Journey um love being a part of it and so lucky to be a part of it um we probably could have done this up in can seeing you swam on your own we could have just done a video and send it down and qualified but I suppose we had to come down here and do the right thing but uh but it's been an awesome journey and uh yeah loved every minute of it and now we're not over yet but yeah thanks everyone and big thanks to me parents back home and K PT thanks everyone woo
