Massive police response to Foley High School, no weapon found - WPMI NBC 15

tears of relief as parents were reunited with their children who'd been in lockdown at fley high school today everybody was freaking out everybody Deborah Johnson's 15-year-old daughter texted her at 10:24 that there might have been a shooting on campus that she was scared but okay I want her to be able to communicate thank God she could and other kids were doing that with their parents we were all standing out there and that's how we knew they were okay principal Jessica Webb says when classes changed this morning a teacher overheard something troubling in the hallway from a student what the teacher overheard they felt like they heard something that was about a weapon it was never the word gun um and they it it it alarmed them enough to push their their lockdown button an alert that also goes straight to fully police and then that's when the calvary comes and it and that's what happened today Chief thirst bulock says the law enforcement response was Swift they swept the school and did not find a gun there had also not been a fight says the rumor mill on social media did not help today and created unnecessary fear a picture started floating around on social media and I think it caused more alarm we did locate that student uh we took them in for questioning uh they did not even have on the same clothes that's in that picture and um I don't believe that picture was from anywhere here on campus so um I don't believe there's any alarm to think that that student had any involvement in it that that picture was even from today and I just want to put that out there for one the safety of that student as well as to quch any uh social media rumors that may be floating around I can't tell you how frustrating parents have to be right now with this situation but also hopefully parents across baln County see what we have in place that the number one priority is protection of our students and our employes and that happened today
