into like I said I'm going to spend most of our time talking about the Browns today Trading Camp continues in full force from Green Brier the Browns will be coming back to Berea soon and where will they be playing their home games Well for now we know they're still playing on the lake at Cleveland Browns Stadium that's what I'm calling it because the sponsor is not paying me but uh where will the Browns future be we're gonna get into that in a second plus an injury on the field and can Deshawn Watson keep up I've been asking this question on Twitter all day what do I mean that's coming up a little bit later is the Hall of Fame game tonight did I miss that I'm saying next week I mean it is August I don't even know when the Hall of Fame game is the Browns are not playing in it so I didn't pay attention let's see it's the Bears it is tonight I didn't even realize that oh my God good job out of uh whoever sent me that message yes Gunner it is tonight so let's get I'm going to get on the BET Rivers app right now I was on there earlier but I didn't even think to look at foot because I wasn't thinking about the Hall of Fame game but it is tonight and the B and the Texans are a two-point favorite at bet Rivers against the Bears for the 800m start the over under is 31 that's a low over under but it is the Hall of Fame game uh the Texans minus 134 on the money line and the bears plus 110 so the first preseason games tonight forget next this next week nonsense next week is when everybody else starts all of Fame game tonight all right uh but we don't really care about that I mean besides to potentially bet on we don't care about it because there's nobody playing them Noe but there are a lot of things to talk about with the Browns and I I got D'Onta Foreman injury scare to begin on the field where the Browns had a big injury today and hopefully uh he's going to be okay but if you haven't heard Deontay foran who the Browns signed late in the off season who is he is stylistically listen to what I'm saying here stylistically he is a Nick chub type of back he is nowhere close to the player Nick chub is don't I'm not don't mistake what I'm saying but he he his style is is similar he's a between the tackles guy I mean Nick chub can do everything but he's not a pass catcher he's you know gets quickly through the line anyway Deontay foran though uh got injured in practice the Browns put out a statement he suffered a direct Blow To The Head that resulted in neck pain the Browns athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency a action procedures to immobilize Foreman we've we've unfortunately all seen that a many times some of you have probably seen it in person I know I have um we've all certainly seen it on the television uh when a player is immobilized on that board when they have a potential neck injury he was carded off the field taken by a medic medical uh by helicopter to a medical center in Rowan Oak Virginia uh good news though he had a movement in all of his extremities so let's talk about it first the most important thing from a human standpoint we are certainly all wishing the best for Deontay foran uh whenever a player is injured it's a scary thing especially when the player has to be immobilized it's obviously very promising without being a doct are pretending to be that he has movement at in his extremities that you know you think of some of the most serious things that could happen that kind of scratches that off the board um uh right away because you know he's able to or at least it seems to because he's he's moving his extremities uh so hopefully he's all right well at this point there's been no further updates uh and we'll just hope for the best so we'll see with him on the field if he is on able to go week one Nick Chubb injury recovery & RB depth certainly it's a it's a significant thing because I just spoke with Mary K kabin on the podcast yesterday she doesn't think that Nick chub's gonna be ready to go week one and and here's the most important thing now we've seen Nick chub in practice we've seen him making Cuts in practice we've seen him in the weight room lifting absurds amount absurd amounts of weight squats all of it he is a freak and is probably in better shape than almost any human being if not any human being would be coming off what he's coming off but the last thing the Browns want to do the last thing any of us want to do the Browns cannot Rush Nick chub back the reason that in addition to having Jerome Ford and Pierre strong Jr already on the Browns that they signed Deontay foran is that you don't want to be the Browns want to put themselves in a situation where they have as many options as possible and even though in the end no matter what you're never going to rush somebody like Nick chub back the more options you have the less you can even talk yourself into that possibility because you know Nick chub's GNA want to play uh as quickly as possible the Browns also have nahe Hines with the moment is on the NFI list coming off a serious injury from last year now this Foreman situation obviously you have Ford and strong who mentioned John Kelly who's been here a couple of years on the practice squad they also drafted a kid undrafted guy a I said drafted but he's undrafted Aiden Robbins um who they just picked up this year like I said is a rookie undrafted free agent so that's another guy in the mix there whatever happens whatever the result of the situation is for Deontay Foreman nothing's going to lead to Nick chub being rushed back I think that's the bottom line uh but you but you want this team to have as be the perfect scenario is that Deontay foran and Jerome Ford are sharing the backfield duties till Nick chub is ready to get in the mix and remember even when Nick chub is ready to get in the mix whether that happens to be week one or week five or week nine whatever that is he's not going to be taking a full complement of carries I can't imagine whenever he starts so it's going to be a slow build so you still want the other guys so from an on the- field perspective of Deontay foran this could potentially be a significant injury for the team is it gonna cost them a game ah probably not um uh but it's it's it's an important injury uh to keep an eye on and hopefully you know it's August 1st the regular season doesn't start for uh 6 weeks or whatever it is so um although my math been off right because I thought the Hall of Fame game was next weekend uh but there's time we'll see but it's a neck injury so obviously you're going to take precautions he might who knows I don't want to speculate as to what's going on we'll we'll get an update when we get an update we wish the best for Deontay Foreman it is a um important potential injury and a an important potential loss not devastating but important because he was as I said going to play the Nick chub role as best he could and now it'll be potentially if he's not ready to go week one uh up to some other guys to fill Browns new stadium chatter that spot second thing that's kind of come down on the Browns today uh the we we there's been a lot of talk about a potential new stadium uh from a I I think most fans want the Browns to have a new stadium the best way to pay for it really should be Jimmy Haslam paying for it himself because he can afford it and the people of Cleveland the people of the Greater Cleveland area kyoga County and surrounding counties most cannot afford it uh but unfortunately that's just not the reality of the way things work like it or not Justin bib the mayor of Cleveland and other City leaders uh today well was mayor bib sent the um there's been a lot of talk about this right as as training camp started Jimmy Haslam and Andrew Barry have both commented on it Barry said he would like a dome uh Jimmy Hassman said he believes most of the fans want the stadium out at Brook Park uh you know city leaders have talked about this maybe fighting to keep the team here it's not like they're being taken out of the area anybody from the area knows Brook Park is not I mean Brook Park Park borders part of Cleveland uh that being said I I I have no idea what the economic impact of the variety of options whether it's redoing Cleveland Brown Stadium which obviously the brown the haslams don't want to do you know uh whether it's building a new Stadium downtown or building a new stadium in Brook Park the ramifications financially whether these things do or do not happen who knows what the reality is um will will this be devastating for the city if it moves to Brook Park I don't know I don't know well enough but this is what the mayor wrote so let's let me just read this to you uh part of what he said he he said uh here we go keeping the brown stadium in the heart of our Central business district is not just a matter of sports it's about economic growth and Community Pride a downtown Stadium supports local businesses stimulates job creation and enhances our City's vibrancy said council president bla Griffin in a news release the Browns PE presence contributes to Cleveland's cultural fabric attracting visitors and residents like to our downtown um so the leadership team asked the Browns do we get here some more quotes of what was said the mayor sent a letter to hasm Sports Group quote we are unified in our belief that transforming the current facility is unquestionably in the best interest of Cleveland and kyoga County bib said in the letter we do not believe any public financial support should responsibly be made available for development of a stadium outside of the city of Cleveland um so what M what what mayor bib is saying is the city here we go uh the city commits $367 million for the stadium project and 94 million for Capital repairs from parking Revenue uh but they do the cost of a potential new uh stadium is we're talking billions of dollars of course um the Browns want a brand new stadium which I understand the Browns should pay for their own new stadium that may or may not happen it probably will not uh I think there there is there are a lot of fans that would like to see that like the idea of the brand new facility in Brook Park as opposed to I think just redoing the Stadium downtown it feels like the wrong move and I hate to say that because I've got a lot of respect for Justin Bib and I I don't know I fully admit don't know the financial ramifications of doing it and and what it cost the city of not doing it and what it would cost the city and its businesses I'd you know I don't want to see anybody get hurt financially Rank and file people business owners local business owners so I don't know I just don't think this is gonna happen and and I have no inside information on it uh but people I've spoken to who at least have some inside information believe that this is that that there's going to be a new Stadium built and it's probably going to be in Brook Park and I don't think this letter uh from the mayor is likely to change anything um we shall see we'll continue to to follow along with that situation but uh it does feel like we will see at some point before the end of this decade a brand new stadium with a dome which if they build a brand new stadium there's got to be a dome of course I don't I don't think Andrew Barry would have made those comments if that wasn't realistic I think at this point we know it is and I think it's probably going to be in Brook Park again I don't have any inside information uh so we'll leave it there for now and see what the response is as part of the letter that mayor bib sent he he asked for response by I think August 14th so certainly there'll be more followup on this um in the next couple of weeks to see what's going to happen now uh I wanted to I wanted to get one on on to deshun Watson before we do that got a couple of messages on the YouTube chat so I'll respond to them first uh Cottonwood slim says I love John Kelly okay uh you know he hasn't proven enough to them to be more than a practice squad player or get taken off their practice squad but we'll see Joe says Pierre strong will go get more reps too listen I since last year I've said that uh I am a i that I like Pierre strong I think he has shown some flashes and I don't have any problem with him getting more of an opportunity Joe says I thought a foreman is to Kareem hunt replacement hard-nosed short yardage Banger I mean Kem D hunt did that last year but Kareem Hunt's always been a great pass catching back and that is not Deontay Foreman's UMO Zach says bull I love you bro keep up the Great job on ucss going to the Guardians game Saturday go guards huge series thank you Zack Cottonwood slim D would be conveniently located next to Cleveland's Dustin not Dustin Hopkins airport uh but we could change it to that if he makes a Super Bowl kick and he also says the logistics of revamping the current Stadium seem difficult and where would this the Browns play these are all questions that are out there um and and are complicated I don't Can Deshaun Watson keep up? think there's any doubt about it so I put out a tweet that uh I and I asked the question can Deshawn Watson keep up we've had so many debates about deshun Watson how he's played so far how disappointing he's been so far how good can he be in the 202 24 season how important is it that he plays well and recently some who have defended deshun Watson and and I shouldn't even put it that way who have made the false claim that deshun Watson has played well when we know what our eyes tell us and most of the stats tell us that he hasn't again doesn't mean he won't there's become this disingenuous argument that we've that some have pivoted to this year well it's all about winning and of course for every team it's all about winning but great quarterback the better you're quarterback the more likely you are to win games it's really that simple so this Pie in the Sky idea that well we don't need Watson to be great we can still win you could win yeah but you're not winning when it matters and you know that and then we all know that if DeShaun Watson doesn't get back get get back to being a very good quarterback the Browns aren't winning a Super Bowl it's that simple this is not uh the 85 five Bears where nobody's throwing the ball all over the place with the best defense in in in the history of the game and the greatest running back of the history of the game or one of them it was a different era you can't win that way anymore um so deshun Watson has to play well but how well well when I say he has to keep up I I mean I I I look at that from two perspectives number one is internally he has to keep up well really three perspectives he has to keep up with himself he played an extremely high level in Houston you may want to convince yourself that he's not that he's fine but deshun Watson is no dummy Deshawn Watson he knows how he played in Houston he knows how good he was in Houston and he's got to believe that he can play that well again that's why the Browns traded for him that's why they gave up all the ammunition they gave up that's why they gave him all the money they gave him not to just be along for the winning the games and make a couple of throws not to be a decent quarterback because that's what Baker Mayfield was if that's all you wanted you didn't have to pay 260 million in three first round picks they gave up what they gave up because they thought he was great he hasn't been here now he has to keep up with himself he has to keep up keep up with his teammates there's a lot of players on this team that in the two years he's been here have played great A lot of them because the Browns have a very talented roster a roster that is going to give it see he played great in Houston he didn't have a great team around him but he played great he went to the playoffs twice lost early in his third year he still played great the team was so bad around him they didn't even win a rarity when your quarterback plays that great but it happens sometimes but now he's a he's on a team where there are very few weaknesses and if he plays great he and keeps up with the the level of play of the other best players on this team you look at the other position groups they're on the offensive line at running back two years ago obviously last year Nick chub got hurt at wide receiver with Amari Cooper at tight end with David njoku on the defensive line with Miles Garrett at linebacker with j k last year in the secondary with Denzel Ward and really others the Browns have a lot of players playing at a high level at a pro bowl caliber level level in an All Pro Caliber level in in um in Miles Garrett's case at at a defensive player of the year caliber level now I'm not saying he's got to win the MVP I'm not going to I'm not putting it that high willough that would be pretty sweet but he's got to play at that Pro bow level that those guys are playing on he's got to keep up with them but most importantly he's got to keep up with the other great quarterbacks in this division now we're going to put the Steelers to the side because they don't have a great quarterback are there questions about Joe burrow and Lamar Jackson sure Lamar Jackson has fallen on his face in the playoffs pretty much every season and not last year but two years before that he had injury issues Joe burrow has had injury issues last year coming off two injuries last year including one that some people have some concerns about when it comes to the to the wrist any any he tour his ACL uh his rookie season 2020 but what nobody questions about Lamar Jackson what nobody questions about Joe burrow is if they're healthy they're going to play great at least in the regular season and Burrow's played well in the playoffs we don't know that for sure about Deshawn Watson because even when he's been healthy it's not been a lot he hasn't played well enough the last two years that's just a reality but we know it's in there because he did it in Houston Deshawn Watson has to keep up with Lamar Jackson and Joe burrow I'm not saying he has to play better than them I'm not even saying he has to play exactly even I don't know how we point that out but he's got to be close he's got to be close because those rosters are good as well now I believe that not including quarterback the Browns have the best roster in this division that's my opinion but I also think it's very close I don't think they have a significant roster Edge over any of the other three teams now because the Steelers don't have the quarterback I I'm not that worried about them but the Bengals and the Ravens have quarterbacks that every other team would choose over DeShaun Watson and so be and their rosters are good not quite as good as the Browns but they're good and so Deshawn Watson has to at least be close to those two quarterbacks and so yeah if those two quarterbacks don't play well then I guess thean Watson won't have to play that well but those two quarterbacks if healthy it's a fair fair if on both are probably going to play at a pro bowl level and so at the very least Deshawn Watson will have to play at a borderline Pro Bowl level at the very least and he is capable and I think if he stays healthy this year there's a reasonable chance that he will do it I'm not GNA say 100% because he hasn't shown it the uh the last two years but I think there's a reasonable chance he still can he's still young enough that he can but he's got to keep up with them all right uh back to the YouTube chat B scrs putting a tra uh not an attractable retractable roof on the stadium seems like it could be reasonable but I don't think it's going to happen you cannot put a retractable roof on the current Stadium if that's what you're suggesting that can't be done it's never been done they're not going to do it um hopefully if they build a brand new stadium there will be a retractable roof I mean you don't want a a roof that can't I would hope that if they do this huge project in in Brook Park and build a roof that it's going to be retractable you would think Joe McConnell would you say Watson kept up with burrow and Jackson in the wins over Cincy and Baltimore last year um in those specific games burrow and Watson both played like crap so yes and the Browns found ways to win yes in those two games but it can't be just those two games and that's just like I said if those guys play like crap he can play like crap and they can win that's what happened when the Bengals and Browns played the first time Joe burrow stunk and DeShaun Watson stunk but burrow I mean burrow probably stunk worse but they both were pretty bad both teams didn't uh and the Bengals were just terrible in that game and the Browns won the game if if Deshawn Watson for most of the for for most of the Season plays as close close to as well as those two guys whatever level that may be hopefully it's on a higher level because we want to see DeShaun Watson play at a higher level the Browns are going to win a ton of games and we'll have a great chance to win the division one thing on baseball real Guardians could've done more at MLB trade dealine quick before we wrap things up Guardians we talked about the trade deadline on yesterday's podcast I gave I gave him a B minus for the deadline could have done more I would have liked one would have loved the cob move if he was the second pitcher they got it's fine as the first pitcher it's C it's okay I don't even know if I like fine it's okay and it's potentially good but I would have loved it more if they had gotten flarity tyone I know he didn't get traded certainly guys better than that and then gotten Cobb as a as another option then I would have loved it but didn't happen overall decent job at the deadline Guardians were I think the only team you know them and the tigers that didn't play yesterday the Guardians begin action today uh at 65 and 42 they have a six-game lead over the Twins and Royals uh seven in the loss column against the Royals they have a plus 81 run differential which is the fourth best in baseball I'm sorry fifth best in baseball their winning percentage of 607 is the best in all of baseball second best is the Phillies at 602 they're 22 games over 500 Guardians 23 games over 500 and the Guardians begin a very sexy very sexy a very exciting home stand stand tonight where theyve only lost one home stand this year unfortunately that was their last home stand to start after the break against the Padres and Tigers uh they lost four of seven they did win their last series taking two of three of the Tigers and after losing those three in a row to end San Diego series and start the tiger series they have won six of their last eight games they begin a seven-game home stand tonight 640 uh four game series with Baltimore and then three with Arizona very exciting stuff uh Baltimore got some bad injury news yesterday Jordan Westberg their third baseman who's at a breakout season broke his hand getting hit by a pitch yesterday in their game against I can't remember they were playing the Blue Jays I think and so he's going to miss most of the season of course he's going to miss this series so he goes on the injured list so one big bat from the Orioles out of the lineup they did bring it up their the top prospect in all of baseball Jackson holiday it his first major league home run a grand slam yesterday I'm assuming he'll be in the lineup today um the pitching matchups it'll be Ben Lively and Trevor Rogers tonight Trevor Rogers just acquired by the Orioles in a trade with the Marlins before the deadline tomorrow it's Carlos Carrasco and Dean Kramer that's a 710 start uh s Saturday it'll be Tanner BBY and Zack effin that's a 7:15 start on Fox effin was another pitch of the Orioles just acquired from Tampa Bay and then Sunday at 1:40 the starting pitcher for the Guardians right now is TBA Joey cantio still on the roster is it possible that Alex Cobb will be ready to go Sunday I think it's possible I haven't heard anything about that yet he was supposedly ready to go from his hip surgery rehab and then got a blister but it's been a week so they're Le right now it's TBA we'll probably hear something more I wouldn't be surprised if we found out this afternoon um more about it to see who's going to go might be Cano and then maybe next weekend against the twins we see Cobb make his debut Gavin Williams will pitch the first game of the Arizona series Guardians are facing some tough pitchers though uh not these next two days that Rogers okay Kramer's okay Zack effin's solid Corbin Burns is fantastic they're going to face Zack Gallen against Arizona next Tuesday I I like it I like the battles um looks you know I I like seeing good teams against good teams to me it's it's fun baseball it's exciting baseball I'd much rather the Guardians play the Orioles and I I know it's counterintuitive because you have less of a chance to win against a good team but same thing for the other team and and I like where it shows you where you stand to some degree I'll be curious to see what the crowds look like this weekend against a really good exciting Baltimore team should does Mustafa Saleem what team are you scared to in the play facing the playoffs Yankees Orioles Astros I'm not scared of any anyone uh it is listen playing Yankee Stadium is intimidating there's no doubt about it uh the Guardians have some experience now they got to the playoffs two years ago but the Yankees I don't think they're great I don't think any of those teams are unbeatable at all uh Yankees Orioles Astros um but if you ask me the team I'd want to play the least of the three I would ultimately say the Yankees Cottonwood slim is a former Seattle resident I keep wondering if the island you referred to might have been Vashon or possibly Banbridge um so it wasn't either I guess I could look it up real quick what was because I went let's see if I could find the restaurant we went to uh I'm gonna I'm gonna really quick see if I can find it the J [Music] Countryside I got if I could find the restaurant that we went to um it was in Langley Washington it so that's not the island but we let's see where is Langley Washington Langley Washington on what island I'll know it if I hear it um Whidby that's it that was the island I went to off the coast of Seattle Whidby Island wh DB it was beautiful and the town we went to in on Whidby Island was Langley was a cute little town and we had a nice time there that was that was probably my favorite day on on my uh trip uh be scrs I think we'll see Matthew Boyd first before Alex Cobb I don't know about that Boyd's coming back off a serious arm surgery I have no hope for Matthew Boyd he's not Alex Cobb is a much better pitcher than Matthew Boyd Matthew Boyd's a long shot Alex Cobb You're expect like I'm expecting Alex C to pitch for the Guardians in the playoffs I'm not expecting Matthew boy to pitch in the playoffs Scott how long has have Lamar and Joe been playing in their systems playing with teams with most of the coaches and teammates Watson I believe yeah okay the that doesn't change the facts yes that's an advantage for those guys no doubt agreed they've been playing longer in their systems that doesn't change the fact that Lamar that um uh that Watson hasn't played well and by the way by year two in their systems both were were Joe bar went to the Super Bowl and year two in his system and Lamar Jackson won an MVP in year two in system so that's not an excuse all right thanks everybody thanks for
