play the Rams start this season where they ended last which is Detroit their offense was great in the second half of last season ranking fifth in points per game second in yards per attempt and first in total qbr from week 10 and on on the other hand the Lions defense went the opposite direction ranking last in yards for attempt in qbr they did some things to try to Shore that side of the ball up and now RC joins us here we're so glad to have you RC on the show The the core five back together here did the Lions you think do enough RC to this Rost to be able to slow down this Rams offense you know what I do think they did enough when you look at the concerted effort they made to get better on the back end it was exactly what they needed to do they were Patchwork on the back end especially at the corner position actually pulling people off of the street that had footballs bouncing off of their face mask in the hands of Brandon I you go out and you get Carlton Davis hoping you can get some of what he was during their Super Bowl run in Tampa terion Arnold a versatile from Alabama who understands defens is at such a high level and now maybe a guy like Alex adalone and Jack Campbell who can sort of do some of the things that are very similar can be added to the rush and also play pass coverage you are now better to me at the safety position with Bri Brian Branch being able to move from the nickel to the safety as the meek Robinson comes over from the Las Vegas Raiders so I'm really excited to see how this defense takes a step forward so that's the Lions Mina what's the biggest question for the Rams this week yeah well something that's going to help that Lions pass defense that Ryan was talking about is this Rams offensive line is incredibly banged up and and they're missing their left tackle who's out for a suspension actually allic Jackson you have Joe no who's played great deal for them Rob havenstein who's their stalwart RI tackle is questionable and on the interior they've been mixing things up as a result you have Steve who was the center now he's moving back to guard Jonah Jackson's playing Center and all this matters not just because obviously you have to keep Matthew Stafford upright but because I I really think this Lions pass rush should be improved you saw there on the dep chart adding DJ reer who I think will unlock alen mcneel and help Aiden Hutchinson get double team less Marcus Davenport opposite him healthy for the first time in a while uh normally I I really think this Rams passing attack matches up well with the lion secondary but I am concerned that Matthew Stafford won't have enough time because of the mismatch in the trenches great things to watch for in this game and so much more still coming your way on this show we've got a lot to get to up next I mean I've always kind of played with something on my shoulder you got to you know manufacture things from time to time but uh yeah I mean it kind of goes back to the prove it uh who I need to prove to just myself at this point so but I have a lot of pride in my performance so when I take the field I expect greatness and because I've done it before and and so that's kind of a standard I hold myself to talking about that chip on his shoulder which he still has apparently Adam with us here a year ago this time Adam Jets fans pumped for the debut of Rogers fast forward to today they still haven't seen much of their guy what are you hearing out of the Jets right now well he has looked sharp and he has looked like what the Jets thought they were getting last year when they traded those draft picks to Green Bay and again it's funny to me that a year ago everybody was talking about the Jets making a playoff run pushing for a Super Bowl appearance and really nobody's talked about that nationally but the people within the organization still have very high hopes for this season they know what a difference one quarterback and one player can make nobody got to see what that would be like last season after he tour his Achilles on the fourth play of the game in Monday Night Football and one of the single most significant changes and emotions we've seen in American Sports where he runs out on the field with an American flag then goes down with the Tor ailles now again Monday night he takes the field and we'll see what he can do for the Jets but the hopes within the organization Laura are high yeah it's a doover and and we all hope he stays out there a lot longer this time around Dan you've been pretty high on the Jets I will say Let's Take It on the field this weekend what do you think their offense should look like I think number one you got to make sure that Nick Bosa doesn't ruin the football game and that's a little bit different for for this offense cuz I don't know if Nathaniel Hackett has played against a pass rusher with this offensive line and Aon that has been this dominant and so you really got to be good with your play calls when it comes to running the football or how you want to go play action and making sure that Bosa doesn't dominate the game I think the second thing is the the yards after the catch have to be a stap apart for this offense it's going to have to be Aaron figuring out in the RPO game or in the screen game can Bree Hall be one of those guys remember when Aaron was in Green Bay Aaron Jones was one of the best screen backs in all of football Garrett Wilson on some of these play action crossers that's a way to attack San Francisco's very aggressive defense so you're trying to find ways in space get a Bree hall and then Garrett Wilson in these one-on-one match ups these quick hitting over the middle of the field play action passes and then Malachi Corley who's their draft pick has got to F the like the Randle Cobb role Randle was so dynamic in in many of the things down the field but also in the catch and run element and getting those three four five yard RPO plays that really set them up to Rhythm and so that's why you can't let Nick Bosa run it because it's kep you out of rhythm but that's also why the yards after the catch will be so important there's so many great matchups week one that's how it finishes Packers get ready to open the season from Sal Paulo for more we bring in Sal pal Antonio S one more sleep to kick off what's Nick sani's message to the football game American football game in South America I mean it it's it's surreal but um I have a ton of gratitude for the opportunity in the moment from a strictly football standpoint the matchup of the Eagles offense against the Packers defense sets up like this Kell Moore was hired to give the Eagles offense more complexity so that defenses won't tee off on his quarterback number one and Jaylen Herz will cut down on the number of turnovers that's what they want but the Packers hire Jeff Halley as a defensive coordinator for an aggressive profile you'll see much more man coverage on the outside they think they can match up against the Eagles offense in this game with man coverage and extra pressure on number one Laura great stuff from St as always and as for the other side of the ball the Eagles top priority this off season has been fixing that defense through the first seven games last season they ranked fourth in qbr and were in the top half of the league in points allowed and yards per play but from week eight on it was a different story they allowed the second most points per game and the highest qbr new defensive coordinator Vic fangio will lead the turnaround effort this marks of course his 21 first season in the role Dan what challenges will Jordan love and this Packers offense throw at Philly tomorrow yeah there's so much to look at especially for a defense that's starting the season and likely going to be young in some really important parts and when you take this Matt laflor and Jordan love offense you're going to get different formations different Personnel groupings multiple tight ends are going to be on the field how does Philadelphia match up with that who do they want to try and maybe play action pass to to help sure up that protection is it going to be a J Carter is it going to be somebody off the edge maybe a Bryce Huff if you allow Jordan love to have these Pockets even though this secondary significantly rebuilt it's just really difficult to defend because he has such confidence what he's looking at so you get that one formation now is another formation with the back in the back field tight end up top now you got to pay attention to the motion how are they going to communicate how does Philadelphia and Vic fangio counter that what's the communication like on the second level because there's that ball fake again you don't have any type of real pass rush and there's another chunk pass one went over the Middlefield one went towards the sideline now you get down into the Red Zone I know Marcus loves this one back into Back Field again multiple tight ends on the field again how does Philly match it there goes that motion and here comes the Run game that split flow where everyone flows one way and that tight end Cuts back across for a rebuilt linebacker group for a rebuilt secondary group and for some young defensive tackles this early in the season it's just a lot to look at I'll go back to when these s Francisco 49ers played Philly and maybe it's not that extreme but there was so much disconnect on that defense they're disciplined eyewise it's going to be such a strain tomorrow night you know we all got to watch good college football last week so let me put it in college football terms so the Philadelphia Eagles are the team that the nil and transfer portal absolutely gutted right and they're just trying to find New pieces and get people where they can place them in cuz we needed corner we needed a linebacker so they're trying to figure this thing out and then the Green Bay Packers are the Blue Blood college team that only need to go out and find like one spot right they just needed Josh Jacobs because they already had Christian Watson and they had Romeo dos and Davian Wicks and jayen Reed and Luke Musgrave and so they just added one more piece that makes them better and so if I was the athletic director of the Philadelphia Eagles I would have been calling the athletic director of the Green Bay Packers and being like I don't want to play y'all can y'all please St here and I'm pay them two million so we can play against them because that's how bad the matchup can be when you're talking about a secondary that's trying to get used to playing with one another and the Green Bay Packers who finished this season on the high ascending as their Young quarterback got better working with many of his younger players on that offense and you expect Devin white to be a player this year and he's even out in the first game yeah RC I don't know where you get that background from from but you look like the main carrier in a bosot painting that looks phenomenal I don't know where you are but it's gorgeous listen man I'm telling you man the eye candy from Green Bay but again like I talked about with the Baltimore Ravens earlier this defensive line for the Philadelphia Eagles is newly Meed and if y'all remember two years ago the conversation we had for as much as we talked about the Eagles offense and what they were able to do they led the NFL and Sack they were a pressure football team so between Josh will Jaylen Carter turn into the new interior guy that we start to talk about and mentioned as those three techniques and how impactful will Bryce Huff be there's a Hassan reic situation going on with the New York Jets but Hassan reck with the Philadelphia Eagles was a 19 sack guy the year they went to the Super Bowl so the disruption from this front obviously is going to matter how they are in the Run game as well but I think it's going to be a point of emphasis for the Philadelphia Eagles to get back to pressure by the way you heard swagu is an art expert now he actually bought some art the last time we were in New York so you know I am in the art now shouldn't
