Closed Pontin's Prestatyn News

Intro hi all right so we thought we'd do um a quick update video on what's going on in prostatin at the minute so we've had the closure of um pontings and obviously with us being what mid-February they would be looking at the opening um in a few weeks had um had it not closed down um and we've read some interesting stuff in the local papers um and we thought we thought we'd have a look around the site and um let you know what we've read we'll probably post some links if we remember um onto the page onto the um the Vlog itself um so you can have a look in dep more in more depth and see what you think of it um um but it doesn't doesn't seem to it doesn't suggest that it's going to be um reopening so we'll have we'll have a look see what we can find um and I thought we'd also take a quick walk down the High Street and see what's if there's anything different have a look around the um Industrial Park there's been some new openings on there so if you're um new to the area or you holiday here or you're just interested in the basic local interested in the basic local area basic local area that doesn't sound right but what have you um then this might just be the Vlog for you anyway um we're going to find a place to park and then we'll have a have a moot around see if we can see anything anything different okay so this would be the turn in for the park those who aren't familiar with the the park itself I mean the area itself is absolutely gorgeous you've got um a golf course to your right the beach is Dead Ahead like literally Dead Ahead um and the park is on your left and they had a bungalow as well now that's not going up for sale and there's no sale signs at all so some Vans down there so we'll go we'll go and have a look we need to find somewhere to park and we'll go and have a have a peruse around the actual Exterior exterior right so I thought we'd start around the back got it on quite a strong Zoom um to see what difference with differences I can see but SP has pointed out and he's right there are a lot of especially the Upper Floor windows that are open and I've got to agree I don't think they work if they're not open the lap are to be open if that makes sense they're not already your job now when we came in it's December November there we go park is closed um if there was any open I'd say one or two Max but I certainly you know do you reckon weren't this many that we're open even down there the large windows are open it's all top floor stuff though best do out I mean there's no movement so far that we can see but definitely his windows open this is around the back again only on the top floor now that might be just to help with things like damp maybe you see all the latches are up so it may be something to help with things like d but then the bottom the bottom set armed but if you you can see it's right the way through the park windows open so someone definitely has been through the building the buildings because it is literally it's nearly every window upstairs has either got the latch open or the window is actually open some damage there I think that may have been on its way last time to be quite honest and as you can see the sight is absolutely massive has got C CCTV and there is um Security in fact there's quite a lot of movement on the park there's a lot of vehicles going around I mean that window's wide open and there's a camera right okay well there's your first security camera so that might be that's obviously why that's happening and in fact his caes hanging from roof to roof were they like that yeah I don't know so there security camera L one and in plain view as well just a come on the back further around more damage it's all storm damage I mean it's only fting so it's nothing that would have been too expensive to repair so we can't be blaming that for the closure more windows open more windows open H more windows open the chances are will'll have been on the security so whe not they pick it up is beyond but will have been on the picture as you can see around the back of the buildings they are I mean they are obviously in need of work I some of it is just general guttering um felt in on the roof the I can't remember what these called plint plint or something on the window obviously come in soan it does won't work there's no denying the park is in need of a lot of repair but that's something that hasn't changed for years I mean it's always been he's been like this for a long long time right just come out of here this is back from the road and it looks like we've got somebody moved in there we go there we go there's the new Resident pigeon there's probably a few of them lived in there right trying not to give people motion sickness now cuz obviously they the bars are quite that makes any sense to anyone makes me feel sick watching again more signage these are relatively new the tracks from where the security are going around the site on the um golf cart thing that they've got hell of a bloody M of the grass cuz the grass wasn't like that previous um seems to be coming a home for Birds right more windows open this one's wide open let's see if there's another camera in there get to the other side Buildings they still have all the can't get around there they still have all the stuff in there you know that there fridge I can see uh fridges um Furnishing and that lot is still in the building now then these trees are stuff in actual view of that window so I don't know whether there is a camera on that window lights in the park are still on okay so these buildings these aren't actually um ponton anymore these are part of the Beach's hotel across the road they bought them off ponon um look neck I don't I can't remember how many years ago but it's it's a fair few years ago did them up as um extra accommodation now in honesty I mean they look ho attachments I don't know whether they're using them for the intended purpose I me a lot of them look closed up and then I have but we have seen people coming in out of these see if they got to change what in I mean they to me look still really basic but obviously they so that one's got proper stuff in it I'm not entirely sure there's not people living in some of these but like I say this isn't this this is um beaches this isn't pontins itself this is the one I've seen people com in out of maybe they're doing work it okay right back to pontings and Beyond the standard Gates they've put additional fencing maybe where it was lower I don't know more windows bags of stuff down there like agregates they weren't there so there must be plans for something see how all the lights the furniture that's nor tin table chairs so for whatever reason they're always out they move them so they haven't removed some stuff you can see the pathway where they've dug it up with the um the trucks there doesn't actually seem to be any movement in the park itself the windows are open the V Park found its way outside seagull are still deciding that this is their home not as many as want it was s it's a bit ski with it definitely does feel deserted it is deserted but it it it feels deserted um and whatever is going on or plans to go on it certainly isn't to maintain it parts of the facia has been red off so f buildings you can see there the storms we've had nothing's been done to keep them intact and can see there there's cars down there now they've kept I mean the park everything is still there there's no for sale signs so you know me if the park was for sale Sur God did have it for sale sign it's just secured that's it it's just secured secured um the paint to secure a park that they're not opening a park that apparently wasn't making News money um I'm making enough money to stay open right so here's for the um for what we found out so I was just looking um in the local papers and things things like that online and we come across and the article about Southport pontings being closed down and this was updated the 3rd of February so this isn't long ago and it is said that the council and the the government has AED the idea of using pontins in Southport to house immigrants but from what we were aware we were always told that the pon insights weren't of an interest for this reasoning but then the article goes on to say that the government have been actively seeking out um holiday parks that aren't doing so well to um to House people and you large Holiday Park to House people because basically they you know they want to take them out of the hotels they're needing vast numbers of accommodation um so that's the routee they've taken and that P was um contact ppins Southport was contacted last year uh while the park remained open now there was rumors last year before before the park show before the Rumours summer in fact about the park um going to house immigrants and everyone kind of shooked it off because ponon has been going for years you know there was even jokes made that the park basically they would turn the park down because of the state that it's in but the park is now shut and this is a huge huge park it would house thousands of people there has been um speculation as said last time about it turning into a Housing Development the likely of that likelihood of that happening is Slim to nonone due to the fact that it's um on flood planing you know like they're already having to build up the sea defenses oh saying that it's happened before isn't the council put people where they want to put people but hey ho um but it does make you think and there's been no further statements of this this building Park is closed those signs have actually gone up um on another Pon in site which I think it's housing workers it's it was speculated it was um immigrants but it wasn't it was workers for a local electrical firm or something like that but anyway it's closed so but the same sort of s Park is closed as you can see there still Vehicles down here see what this side says The Bungalow and that was the Bungalow the holiday Bungalow so they've kept that which I thought might have sold on dpd please tweet for your attention so they're getting deliveries of what h no sign of the plaque still see so yeah very strange hi Site Update love right okay so we've just had an actual um conversation with one of the members of staff on site and and they are um as clueless to the developments of what's going to be happening in the future um for the site it seems that um everything is quite Cloak and Dagger from the company itself we've asked if um there was any chance of was able to have a wander around the site um just just you know have a reminiscence and see what changes have been done um Unfortunately they said they've been they've been told not to let anybody on site whatsoever you've got to go through Pria Hotel Group itself to get any form of permission to go in I can't see them allowing that so it looks like we're at stumbling ground with that one um they have said some of a lot of the stock has been repurposed now onto other sites so uh it looks like they have no intention of reopening which I mean we we did did think that but uh they've had interest from sales from other people but nothing's gone ahead uh the land itself is um it's even think of the word the purpose of the land is for leisure so basically to turn it into a residential site a permanent residential site and they'd they'd have to change permission for that so that doesn't and we're on a flood plane I mean again councils have done stranger things but where there's money involved but um yeah it was saying there's been more damage done again to the park unfortunately and through the storms and obviously they haven't they haven't maintain done any maintenance on them um and they have got staff on site not many um and they're basically just working their notices the ones that have been there for a long long time that that's that's the purpose that they're working their notice for the time being um so yeah it's all and all very sad they actually said they've had protesters come down about the sh about the park shutting I mean this is how much some people care about the place um they were due they would have been due to put their Marquees up um for the religious weekend which obviously can't go ahead now and they've not been able to find new um accommodation and place until today the mor St is obviously we'll have to find new accommodation they are struggling to find anywhere tidy weekenders actually have found somewhere else um I don't know whether they're going to manage it for this year or whether it's going to take next year cuz they were promis they could use a p the Southport site and of course that's Clos now I mean whoever it is who comes to purchase it should it be um should it go ahead you're looking at a a sizable amount to invest into the place but he's hoping we'll just have to wait and see so far not really any major development anyway still no movement on the site so right okay and with that I think I shall uh catch up with Spud and then it looks like it's going to throw it down so I think we may have to do press that in High Street um another day okay see you soon bye just as a final note um what do you guys think should actually be done with the side we've been suggesting well amongst ourselves obviously because I W know who to suggest to that whoever it should turn it into um like an events place a special events place like years and years and years ago it used to be um it used to hold like the world snoper champions dart championships um and events like that with the m stage it's got and all the accommodation I think that definitely is the way to go um like the the Tidy week weend is we bring it back all those events and hold it literally for that because you're talking three about 3,000 3 and a half thousand people that stay here at a time through the summer holidays you wait full that's how much it holds and um that a heck of a lot of people that will not be coming here it's very worrying time for PR I think personally but maybe if we get the right people in and turn it around get the buildings back to former glory and uh yeah
