welcome back to the bump and Stacy show we got Curtis Rogers filling in and right now we are joined by Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett Tyler man um I was looking at your stats and I go there's no way Tyler is about to enter his 10th season man it's um it's a blessing man how how's the body feeling how's the mental there's a lot of change going on up there yeah it's feeling pretty good man I think you know overall I think a lot of it is just being able to adapt um psychologically I just think it's it's it's a very interesting situation when you're used to something for nine whole years you know what I mean and then literally you have to switch up everything because um you know the time is different coming to work the you know the coaching staff is different the you know everything is different so you kind of got to adapt and just create kind of like renew your mind a little bit you know so um obviously it's you know it's it's a learning experience and something that you just got to kind of go with the flow but it's been pretty good oh i' like that you bring up uh the changes that have undergone this offseason because that's been a huge focus of what the Seahawks team has been uh doing over since the end of the 2023 season what have what has been the biggest change that you've had to adjust to in going from uh one head coaching staff to another because I imagine that is quite the shock for or at least the culture shock for a lot of you guys uh that are in the locker room yeah I mean it's definitely a culture shock you know when people say you can you can learn learn a new habit in what like 21 days um again it's like imagine learning a habit for 365 days times nine years you know what I'm saying like it's it's one of those things where you really have to change a a lot of different stuff but um I mean there a lot of good stuff that comes with change as well so um I think the biggest thing man is that's just different is just the relationships and understanding the different type of coaching uh the different types of coaching in a way that every coach decides to go about it with their approach is different and you just got to be able to learn that and adapt to it and learn how to find you know that comfort in all that different type of stuff and so I mean obviously it's different but when you have Spring football like this during OTAs that's when you kind of work through those Kinks hey Tyler I was having a conversation with um with with Curtis a few shows back and I was breaking down I go okay what do I want to see from jsn what can he improve on what about DK and then I we get to you and I'm like man Tyler's been in the game 10 years now like what do you what do you do during this offseason to improve because uh you seen almost every defense out there you've ran every route like what do you do or what do you work on during the offseason uh I mean I think the biggest thing I try to work on is consistency uh making sure that I try to continue to work on the fundamentals especially during this time um as we're learning about a new offense just being able to figure out kind of the ends and out of the offense and a little intricate of the things that I can and can't do within the offense obviously some things you can be creative with other things you just got to kind of run and get to your spot and so it's a lot different but I think for me it's it's really just being able to tune in and learn as much as I can about everything that's going on within the offense and then just continuing to try to sharpen everything that I've been doing um obviously you know as you get older you get a lot more wiser and so understanding how to just continue grind but grind in a Smart Way Tyler you guys have a new offensive coordinator Ryan grub who cut his teeth at Washington last year what have you seen so far from his offense that has you most excited about the possibilities here in 2024 uh I mean I think the tempo I think um just the the level of assignments that all of us have with learning the offense the different things that we can get to at the line of scrimmage I mean it's it's super super not only sophisticated but it's it's literally detail oriented and so I think you know we got to really be able to study the Playbook and understand a different type of spots because any of us could be at any given position at any given time and so that's the cool part about the offense but it's also the tough part because that means that everybody has to learn every single spot and you can't get stuck just KN in one spot hey you were a uh a kick returner back in the day that's kind of how you major Mark here in Seattle before you became one of the best receivers um when you look at the changes in the kick return game what do you see and and do you expect more explosive returns well I mean I think it'll be interesting to kind of see obviously I think um you don't have to worry about anybody running full speed and somebody missing their block so I think it's a lot easier to get the blocks you know based off of the technique and the details that they're going to try to teach and um you know I think it kind of just brings you back to to throw them up Jack them up you know that's what we used to call it when you played on the field and everybody standing there and right when you catch it it's like all right find the hole and go I think you know but I think it'll be pretty cool man it wouldn't surprise me if you see some running backs back there cuz it's no different than a running back getting a toss and then being able to run I think you'll see a lot of different creativity back there but I mean you know I don't understand why they changed the rules but at the same time it's like you do understand because they're trying to figure out how to limit people from you know injuries and that's probably the toughest one with people running full speed Tyler a new face on the offensive side of the ball is Sam Howell who was acquired in a trade with Washington during the off season how much uh time have you gotten to work with him and and what are your early impressions of him as a quarterback man I think he's a really great quarterback man I mean you can tell he's calm and Collective when he's in the pocket um he makes the throws you know it doesn't really Force anything uh obviously when we play against him we saw what he could do with his legs how he can extend plays or make a defense move up thinking and collapse down and then he just throws it to a running back or to a wide open receiver so I mean I think he's learning the plays really well and I think he's doing a great job just as he continues to try to find his rhythm in his offense the receiver room is looking good man obviously you got yourself DK jsn but um there's some new faces in that room some old ones as well um who has impressed you so far during this camp in that white out uh I mean I think um jsn has been doing really well Bobo and I think Cody Cody's been having a solid two days man um Cody's been playing really really well and so I mean that's exactly what you know you want to see especially with a new coaching staff just them having eyes on you for the first time so I think you know those are um really big guys that are doing you know a great job yeah um it's a lot different Tyler uh the running back situation with the Seahawks you got k Walker you've got Zack shanet uh you've got uh Kenny McIntosh as well when you look at this offense and and what Ryan grub and what Scott Huff are trying to install here uh how do you see the Run game going this year because I think a lot of people would would love to see it kind of get back to what it was here in Seattle where you know really controlling the clock and and controlling that time of possession yeah I mean I think I don't know if we're going to get to like being a one-sided team to where we overly pass or we overly run I just think that we're just going to be a team that's just going to call whatever we call going into that play and whatever whatever approach that they want to take I think they're going to want us to be able to excel in that uh I mean I think you know as far as running the ball I think we're going to let the running backs be who they are so if they want to um take on contact they can take on contact if they want to go out of bounds they can do that you know what I'm saying I think you know we're going to let them be who they are and and just play free and I mean they're doing a great job even lining up a receiver and being able to run routes and catch the ball as well so I think there's going to be a unique um type of offense and type of scheme for them when it comes to not only just running the ball but also catching the ball uh you've been in the real estate game for a little bit now man how's it going what you learning out there I mean it's going pretty well man I um have my license in Oregon Washington and Texas so just been balancing that stuff out while being able to play football but um also been getting a little bit into the commercial stuff as well so it's been it's been pretty exciting and pretty cool man been learning and meeting a lot of great people and being able to have opportunity to work with people as as well as developers so it's been exciting I saw you got to help Leonard Williams find a place around here did you give him the friends and family discount oh see when I work with a buyer they don't have to pay me it's the seller so they don't have to really worry about paying me man um we're we're excited for this year U we we mentioned the change that you guys are going through but what's what's the same people always are are focusing on the change rightly so right I mean 14 years with Pete but but what's what still feels consistent about what you guys are doing over there uh well I mean a lot of the people that work around us as players are still the same so the strength and conditioning coaches um the coaches that work with us with the electronic chips and all that GPS type of stuff our nutritionist um that entire group group a lot of the um the staff that works upstairs and cooks and you know the janitors and the athletic trainers so it's still a lot of sim similar faces especially when you look at the security it's really just the coaches that changed and so I mean there's still a lot of familiarity over here is just you know when you go into the meetings that's the only stuff that starts to change and when you go out there on the field and you know the type of practice that we have now like the way that they want to go about practice like that's the stuff that you start to see the differences in Tyler you got a new receivers coach too this year frisman Jackson coming over from Pittsburgh I mean Pittsburgh's reputation is kind of a wide receiver Factory they've always had uh some very talented guys on that team what's it been like uh learning Jackson and learning what uh what he's teaching you guys ah it's been pretty good man I mean um even though we're out there he has us doing a lot of different drills and you know a lot of those drills resonate into the game uh you know we saw one of the receivers catch a big a big time um jump ball and that was one of the things we practiced today so you can see how those drills are are um are assimilated into what we might see whenever we're at practice so it's actually been really good doing those drills and we can kind of see how it's been how it's been showing up when we go against the defense as well so it's been going good man speaking of the defense um obviously new head coach new coordinator um we got some new faces over there they giving you fits what you seeing with that defense uh well I mean it's the second day that we seen them I mean obviously we' seen the defense against the Ravens and stuff like that and I think it's a pretty unique defense I think it's a a a great defense I think um you know we got a lot of a lot of great guys that can fit in those positions and that could be able to play those positions well but I think the type of defense that they have it it involves a lot of communication and a lot of understanding and a lot of trusting that people are going to be exactly where they are I think so far they've been doing a great job and I think as we continue to um learn more about their defense and as they learn more about our offense I think it's going to do everything and help us Tyler last one uh from me this is kind of your guys's first opportunity to work with the the rookies and the undrafted free agents have any of them uh kind of asked to get some one-on-one time with you and maybe pick your brain about what life in the NFL is like uh not yet but I mean I think during during the conversations that we have in meetings and um when you're out there I think you know we we have conversations here and there I think it's a little different and I think it's a little tricky just because right now the rookies are kind of like everything is new right now right so they're trying to figure out how all of this stuff is going and and try to jail together and and stand out as well as not stand out in a bad way you know but stand out in a good way so I think it's so much stuff going on they're still trying to figure it out but I think as we continue to go on especially this week this the first week we're going against the defense once it slows down I think more questions will start to arise and then as vets we just got to kind of be there and talk to him well Tyler man we appreciate you taking time out of your day um I know this is busy for you guys getting acclimated and doing all that stuff we're excited for the season man we hope to talk to you soon thanks Tyler thank you no problem for
