[Music] [Music] we're here in this cozy old band box smack dab in the middle of downtown Atlanta Georgia There are a few clouds to cover the Sun for today's game between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the seols of Florida State hi everybody Brad nestler Lee Corso Kirk herb Street and Aaron Andrews here to bring you all the action of this football game and we're set to bring you another great matchup in the world of NCAA football Florida State has so many weapons on offense and one of them is their outstanding wide receiver this defense better not blink their eyes because if they do he's [Music] gone well thanks guys and it looks like we're ready for the coin toss we're ready to get this one underway as the teams have lined up for the opening kick kicks it off and this game is underway he gets out to about the 38 yd line and now we get to see this offense for the first time as they head out onto the field they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set option here he picks it up and a costly fumble right there guys I love the option but it is risky this fumble is a perfect example but Kirk you can't forget the option can be unstoppable when run properly they were just a little unlucky there caught out of the open and he's tackled at the 25 good yardage that time on the pass and how do you like that quarterback what a throw he just had the right touch on that football Le you're right beautiful looking pass here by the Young quarterback and this one's broken up that's just good defense right there coach it was Kirk but you know what it's all reaction anytime you're out there on defense and the pass is within arms length away and knock it down he drops back he's out of Bounds at the 20 so they execute and move a little closer to the sticks yeah completing those short passes is the key because it lulls the defense to sleep a little bit then you can launch one big one downfield for a big game throws quick to the receiver and it falls incomplete and that makes it fourth down boy great defense on that play they were expecting the pass and they defended it very well by getting a hand in there to break up the play and he hooked it left well that's a tough break for these guys who were looking to put three points up on the board so we'll change possession with a score Florida State nothing Georgia Tech nothing from Their Own 20yd Line first down they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set they go with the back and he's got room gets out to around the 32 can this kid run or what he broke free and was able to get the first down they come to the line in the flexbone formation they'll go with the option brought down at the 35 yd line a pickup of about three from their own 35 yd line it's second down they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set brought down after a nice run up the middle four yds gain off the from their 39 yd line third down they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set here's the option he makes it to the 42 yd line well they try to keep it on the ground for the first down you know Brad here the defense just steps up and makes a play stopping them and bringing up fourth down [Music] [Applause] and he's hammered down a missed field goal was the result of the last drive we'll have to see if they can come through with something this possession any points are good points and I know the coach may not show it but mistakes in the kicking game drive him and all coaches crazy and not all coaches like kickers do they those are usually the ones that go for it all the time they'll give it off here he's taken down at Midfield and he reeled off a big one there this offensive line is built to allow this tailback to make plays as you just saw he's able to get into the open and create some excitement right there from the gun that's a great tackle at the 42 yd line not a bad little play there yeah it's a nice job by the quarterback reading the coverage and delivering a very catchable ball and allowing his receiver to come up with a nice gain it's hard to get any pressure on the quarterback when he is releasing the ball so quickly great completion and that one's Fallen incomplete he overshot his Target there one of the things that is important here is that they come up with the Blitz and don't give the quarterback enough space to throw the footb one man Back Field here's the give nice run and he's brought down and they convert the first down on that run the key to that play is a good blocking up front by the hog mollies you're right and those are the kind of runs that you need to have a successful offense from the 36 yd line first down one man Back Field got his man can't tack on any yardage that last pass was good for maybe five yards here's a safe play hitting the underneath receiver but it's a nice gain of five third down and six yds to go ball on the 31 yd line single set back [Applause] field oh what a hit you can't stay in the pocket all day long like that the defense is going to get there [Applause] eventually and it's the offense that takes the field on fourth down they line this one up in the shotgun four wide receivers split out in the formation looking to throw he steps out around the 30 yd line well you win some and you lose some they'll set up shot at the 30 it's first and 10 they'll line it up in the flexbone set up the middle for a nice gain a seven yd play yd gain [Applause] play they're about four yds away here on second down they'll line it up in the flexbone set option here he laterals and he shoved out of bound at the 47 that was a pretty good run incredible effort there running the football by this guy three wide outs [Applause] here straight ahead with a fullback knocked out of Bounds at the 49 yd line maybe a few but that's it second down eight yds to go ball on their own 49 they come to the line in the flexbone formation he drops back here's a throw and I don't think he got anything on that not that impressive of a play Let's see if they continue to employ the short passing game or if they decide to run the ball but at least it was a simple play the quarterback didn't try to force the issue there and risk a turnover and he's tackled at the 34 yd line he ran a clean route and the quarterback got it to him with a good pass first down and the receiver was able to shake off all the Defenders that were trying to cover him and that really really made it easy for the quarterback to pick him out and throw him the [Music] ball they'll line it up in the flexbone set here's the option good tackle there in space so with that run they pick up another first this a nice job again up front by the offensive line they're doing a good job of neutralizing the defensive front and it's allowed them to move the ball down the field and he's tackled after positive yardage so the option play to the fullbacks good for about four yds this will be the first snap inside the 20 [Applause] today toss runs it right nice pickup seven yards there for the halfback and he also picks up a new set of downs they chose to go with a toss play here and the tail back did a good job of getting up field and picking up a first down and they use [Applause] motion here's the option and it's scooped up by the running back two yd gain on the quarterback [Applause] keeper second down eight yds to go ball in the nine they come to the line in the flexbone formation boy was he drilled as he let go of that football yeah he's going to feel that one tomorrow yeah that did not look pretty third down again they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set option here brought down at about the seven yd line no can do on that run that'll bring up fourth down Bo you're absolutely right those guys got in and shut him down and now they're all fired up Georgia Tech could take the lead with this field goal and he's got it here's the drive summary to recap what just [Applause] [Music] happened Georgia Tech get set to kick this one away he kicks It Off and the kicker comes in to make the tackle and now we'll see the offense come out out of the field for their next [Applause] possession they'll start at the 40 first down 10 to go offset eye formation in the back [Applause] field he takes it right side for a good gain they gained five yards there it's second down and four to go ball on the 45 yd line a Back Field runs left and quickly taken down he may have gotten back to the line of scrimmage from their own 45 yd line third down high formation [Applause] here again with a carry brought down after a nice run up the middle that's a nice run but it's short of the first down heck of an effort by this kid but he just couldn't get to the first down marker good play by the defense to stop him just short it's a short kick a scoring Drive the last time out for this offense and they'll huddle up for this drive and they marched the ball right down the field in that last Drive coach oh yeah they took some tips from the band marching it right up in there toss play he gets hit out Bounds at the 40 yd line a big gain for the halfback you know when we talked to the coach yesterday he said they were going to run it over up and around this defense well here they got a nice gain on the old toss play option slides down so he calls his own number and gets about six yds it's second and four to go ball in the 46 they come to the line in the flexbone formation [Applause] up the Middle with a fullback and he's taken down around the 41 yd line and the fullback picks up the first I think they caught the defense a little off guard you're probably right huge gain there on the ground they'll line it up in the flexbone sack and straight ahead we go with a fullback just about three yds there yain on the from the 38 yd line Second down they line it up with three receivers they'll go with the option they'll bring him down at the 20 yd line and that's their third first down of the drive great blocking and great running equals a very successful offense and they've looked really good on this drive coach the defense needs to figure out a way to stop them or else they're going to have no problem putting points on the board nice run and is brought down a pickup of four on the play on the from the 16 yd line Second down they come to the line in the flexbone formation looks like an option here he's taken down at the 14 they'll get two on that one here's third down four yds to go this is the eighth play of this drive they come to the line in the flexbone formation and he rifles it in there for the touchdown the quarterback threw a pretty ball there for the touchdown but don't forget about the catch the receiver made one heck of a grab too [Applause] and he TS on the extra point so we take a moment here let's check out the drive [Applause] sum Georgia Tech is lining up to kick this one off decent kick and he makes it out to about the 41 yd line the last time this offense had the ball it was three and out so far nothing has been working for this offense it better start working soon KK because these guys can't afford to get into a much bigger hole two tight end set brought down at the 49 the slant pattern good for about eight yds on the play at the 49 yd line it's second and two ball in the 49 five DBS on the field h on the throw he caught it he's pushed Out of Bounds at the 34 a nice little pass play there and that was a perfect time for a screen the defense was a little aggressive that time and weren't really in great position to stop this play terrific call first down look at the throw gets it off as he's hit complete and he's level at the 25 yd line if they keep this up they're not going to see a third down all Drive second and one coming up here ball on the 25 yd line single back set three wide [Applause] receivers throws to the tight end and that falls incomplete pretty good effort here by the quarterback are trying to squeeze that ball into a tight spot yeah I know it was incomplete but he didn't have too many other options he backfield [Applause] they go with a run and he's going to be stopped short they were not going to let them close to the marker big play on third down that's just what they needed a strong stop to get some momentum back on their side they'll work from the [Applause] shotgun he's hit and taken down whoa you got to be kidding me yeah coach that's a great fourth down conversion that's what you call a momentum Builder not for the defense though they look a little dejected out there I think now's a good time for this offense to take a shot at him go for the End [Applause] Zone straight ahead on the give there's nowhere to run though and the halfbacks got nowhere to go so it's second and 10 this is the eighth play of this drive and they swap out the running back now for this next play here's the give tackle made at the 11 yd line the offensive line got a really good push there allowing the back to pick up nine on the play one man Back Field they motion to the right they'll bring him down at the nine and they get it up for the first what's interesting about that short run on third down is now now they have the ability to go to play action pass and stretch out this defense I was just going to say that but don't be surprised that they don't go and go to the air right now they'll keep it on the ground again tackle right around the 8yd line they got a little bit there but less than a yard the running back just didn't have any room to move Kirk that's because the defense called The Blitz at the right time they were able to come after the running back before he went for big yards and in motion goes to the fullback and drops the ball is roughly separated from the receiver by The Defenders and that's the way you play defense rough and tough with no apologies the defense comes out with five defensive backs this time throws to the receiver got it for the touchdown that was a well drawn up play for the wide out yeah they saw something upstairs it led to a touchdown you can think the play calling there very [Applause] impressive trying to get within a field goal they'll try the point after and he hits the Pat and now we're going to take a look at the drive summary Florida state lines up for the kickoff short kick he didn't get a hold of that one buo loose ball well the offense heading back out onto the field after that kick hoping to turn this drive into another touchdown the defensive line needs to get more pressure up front this go line is just having their way with them and that really is what's helping this back get to the second level and really pick up some major yards back to pass man wide open in and out of his [Applause] hands they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation they'll run the option tackle made around the 43 yd line so the quarterback keeps it for two yds and that was a really good stick by this sophomore linebacker they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation they're going to pitch it and he carries the ball for a nice gain they tried to run on third down but they couldn't pick up the first they almost fooled him with the run there but it didn't work nice call by the coordinator though I know they didn't get the first but they kept the defense guessing he makes it out to maybe the 29 yd line the offense ready for the first play of this drive they move the ball extremely well on their last possession on their way to the end zone it's first and 10 they come out with three wide receivers they hand it off brought down after a nice run up the middle four yds on that play on the from their own 33 ydd line it's second down eye formation here runs left and quickly taken down the running back gets a yard maybe less third and six ball on the 34 yd line there are four wide receivers flad out the quarterback in the [Applause] gun here's the option and he's tackled after positive yardage Sol solid play by the defense and that's going to bring up fourth down that wasn't a bad game there but getting first downs are way more important in your rushing [Applause] average I don't really know what this one's for let's find out holding on the receiving team these are the calls that drive a coach crazy senseless penalties can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing the game they come out with three wide receivers looks like an option here here he goes knocked out of Bounds at the 31 the offensive line got a really good push there allowing the back to pick up nine on the play they come to the line in the flexbone formation [Applause] he's tackled at the 32 good run there that time they gave it to the fullback and he pounds it in there for a first down well given assist there to the offensive line they gave him a good push up front they'll line it up in the flexbone sack hand off and he's met immediately the fullback back to the original line of scrimmage and that's it give credit for that tackle to the safety he did a good job of stepping up into run support he throws the ball is knocked out incomplete it's third down and nine to go ball on the 33 yd line they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation throwing right and he brings it down down the sideline to the 10 and a huge touchdown play Big Catch there for the wide receiver bringing in his second touchdown of the game before the game the quarterback told us that this guy is always in his ear to get in the ball obviously today all the cing has worked because he's gotten the ball and a few touchdowns and this quarterback has really learned how to trust this receiver because he backs up his talk on the field and he missed it he missed the extra point and here's our Drive summary Georgia Tech is ready to kick it away he sends it off gets to about the 34 yd line their last Drive resulted in a punt so let's see if they can put together something a little more promising here that'll bring an end to the first quarter of action our score here in Atlanta the yellow jackets 16 the seals seven High formation here he's to the 40 and he hits him hard at the 49 so they pick up quite a few yards on that play Kirk well that was an excellent route and he did a great job of holding on to the football the quarterback is in the gun he's got two tight ends in this set they hook up over the middle to the 20 to the 10 and they finally push him out at the six the tight end picks up a lot of yardage on that one the big guy isn't the fastest out there but he sure has a load to bring down so after the big pass play we have a first and goal in the Red Zone again let's see if it'll be another touchdown Buble uh-oh this could get ugly it's looking that way right now they really need to hold them here so they can get the ball back and put some points on the board if not this one has all the bons of a blowout so a big momentum shift could be in the making here as we take a look at the possible fumble and remember the rules of the booth review if there is inconclusive evidence then the call Will Stand the referee needs to be 100% sure that the ball carrier was down to overturn this call well after seeing the replay it was apparent that his knee was down before he lost the ball yep those guys in the booth aren't perfect but they got it right this time it's power against Power right now on the field both teams have their jumbo sets out there touchdown seven on strong run by the halfback to get into the end zone he's a pretty sure bet to get six when you're this close to the end [Applause] zone and he converts the extra point and now we take a look at the drive [Applause] [Music] [Applause] summary the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off and it's a short kickoff and down forc that [Applause] one op right they'll wrestle him down in the back field the option didn't work out for him that time guys no but I'll tell you what that's the kind of play that sets up the old option pass perfectly sometimes a loss in a play like that isn't the end of the world if you're running it to set up the defense for something else later in the game you heard it here folks coaches first guessing calling for the option pass way to look it in and he just went over 100 yds this half with that last catch this receiver's catching everything thrown his way when a quarterback and receiver get it going early in the game Watch Out defense you could be in for a long day they'll line it up in the flexbone set they'll go with the option he's pushed Out of Bounds at the 40 yd line couple of yards there on the option to the halfback it's second and eight ball in the 40 they come to the line in the flexbone formation throws complete he's got space to work he's taken down around the 20 yd line look at that big guy go this guy will block you the entire game and then make a huge catch when you're not looking they'll line it up in the flex bone set they go with the option he makes it out to maybe the 20 ydd line they give it to the fullback on the option he gets back to the line of scrimmage and that's [Applause] it they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation right side with the option gets to about the 17 yd line a pickup of about three on the and here's another third down three wide outs [Applause] here takes it left on the option they'll knock him down for a loss nice tackle to bring him down before he got back to the line of scrimmage solid effort there to break up that play So it's fourth down this will be about a 36 yd field goal attempt and it hits the upright and bounces through let's take a glance at the drive Su Georgia Tech to [Applause] kick he sends it off he's to the 20 he makes it out to maybe the 39 yd line these guys came up with a touchdown in their last drive and they'll be hoping for another six on the board here this offense needs to continue to produce on the scoreboard because they are still losing this game they come out with a big set here's the handoff and he's taken down for a loss they sure shut down the half back on that play boy they were in the back field in a hurry the back just had no space to run the football single set back field gets it he's in space he's tackled around the 42 yd line a decent gain on the pass yo Kirk good job by the quarterback here reading this play yeah the defense came with a blitz and you're right great job by this Young quarterback of recognizing the coverage in spotting the open man and he's taken down at the 32 that's pretty impressive accuracy is important but just as important as having receivers that can make plays single set back field they'll throw on first down plenty of time in the pocket looks to him again complete and down he goes at about the 23 yd line they got a few yards on that pass yeah we talked about how the run will open up the passing game but some teams like to use their intermediate passing game to open up the Run either way you look at it it's good balance you know that's the third catch that this guy's made on this drive alone anytime he is open the quarterback is delivering him the ball single back set three wide receivers they try to get it on the ground and half the team meets it nowhere to go for the halfback that's a loss of one this is what power football is all about folks they're going to pitch it and he stopped short of the first down and they lose possession on Downs you know that was one of those situations where you have to go for it to try to get something going now they need a big play here from their defense first down 10 yds to go ball of the 22 they come to the line in the flexbone formation they'll go with the option now he pitches it they'll bring him down right around the 24 yd line that'll be a two- yd gain that was a c hit by the defender he he just drove the ball carrier right to the ground they'll line it up in the flexbone set he's out to the 30 brought down at the 40 I credit the quarterback on that pass he made a great read and delivered a very nice pass for the first down he set up and put the ball right there where he had to go nice play he's going to try to throw and he's got the Junior and they finally knock him out at the 23 yd line unexpected call by the coaching staff now let's see if they can continue this drive and put some points on the board so let's see how the defense responds now it's first down and 10 they come to the line in the flexbone formation here's the option and he's taken down at the 23 not a lot on that one no on the from the 23 yd line Second down they come to the line in the flexbone formation option gets out to about the 21 two yds there on the option keeper we've got third and eight ball in the 21 yd line they'll line it up in the flexbone set they option left now he pitches it makes it out to about the 13 a big gain on the option telling you right now guys the defense has to do a better job of keeping an eye on this young man he shows he has the ability to hurt you and this is an offense that can do this to you every now and then they're in the Red Zone where last time they came away with only a field goal option here and down he goes at about the 15 yd line well the question now is how will they respond after losing a couple on that run they come out with three wide receivers it's right in the middle and he meets the defense two yd carry by the fullback and once again they'll come to the line try to convert on third down the defense comes out with five defensive two backs this time goes to the end zone and he's got the halfback touchdown that was his third touchdown of the day well the quarterback's going to get a lot of credit but I think the thing that has helped him the most back there is the protection by the offensive line he has had plenty of time to make decisions back there in the pocket and those decisions he's been making out the right ones too my friend he makes the pat here's the drive summary to recap what just [Applause] happened Georgia Tech is lining up to kick this one off he sends it off he's to the 20 he makes it out to maybe the 33y line and now a slight break in the action as the offense comes out onto the field for their next possession they'll work from the shotgun tackle made at the 44 yd line the defense brought the outside linebacker but the quarterback hung in there and delivered a great pass for the first down one man Back Field pitch out and he is hit immediately the halfback had nowhere to run and he paid for it they need to throw some blocks out there hit somebody this ain't a walk through there are two tight ends in the formation the quarterback is in the gun here's the halfback there's a flag on the playing they'll be called for an infraction that will put them back a few Paces man the coaches are going to have to talk to these young guys about committing unnecessary fouls the defense lines up with five defensive backs yo you can credit that incompletion to the pass rush great job of not letting the quarterback get comfortable back there he didn't throw a good pass at all all that Kirk he was under pressure unbelievable pressure complete he's got room they'll bring him down around the 48 yd line that was a good pass and catch there but still not enough for the first down that's not an easy conversion here on third down for the offense all the defense has to do is stay back keep everything in front of them come up and make a tackle it really was a good hold excellent job by the secondary to keep them in front of the first down marker they'll go to work at the 19 yd line first down 10 yds to go they come to the line in the flexbone formation here's the option left he's taken down at the 21 two yd pickup gain on the from their own 21 yd line it's second down they'll line it up in the flexbone set [Applause] well they run it left and a nice tackle right there gain of a yard by the fullback from their own 22 yd line third down they come to the line in the flexbone formation they'll run the option and they're not going to get it great stop and he didn't get enough for the first now Brad he's going to come up short here the defense does a nice job of not allowing the ball carrier to get out into the open [Applause] he gets out to about the 48 yd line and now we'll see the offense come out on of the field for their next [Music] [Applause] possession they'll start this drive at Midfield highe formation [Applause] here not much room there as they hand it off straight up the middle couple yards there it looked like the rush caused some problems there coach yep they were in there so quick that the running back was never able to get started the defense sets up in the nickel and they get the sack he'll feel that one in the morning you bet he will I mean just look at that guy that sacked him he's a monster I could have score I felt the Earth shake when he hit the ground third down now and they need to get it inside the 42 the defense is in the nickel back to pass and it's knocked down that's a fantastic defensive effort yeah the deflection prevented them from getting any yards and now it's fourth down he's out to the 30 gets to about the 34 yd line the offense gets ready to start a new drive as they just couldn't get anything going on their last possession going three and out this drive will start at the 34 we've got a first and 10 they'll line it up in the flexbone set looking to throw caught by the sophomore tackle made ground the 44 yd line the offense was pretty successful on that play there that was a very good passing play to get the ball downfield for a very nice gain and a first down throws to the receiver and he's got it again and he's taken down right around the 32 yd line fellas he's really out to an outstanding start in this football game hey if he continues at this pace he may throw for 500 yd I'll tell you what this guy is so much fun to watch when he gets into a rhythm like this from the 32 yd line first down they come to the line in the flexbone formation fullback Straight Ahead gets out to around the 22 they call a fullbacks number and he responds by gaining 10 yards on the Run they'll line it up in the flexbone set and a quick throw huge play and it's to be first and goal nice throw great read by the quarterback and an even better route if you run a corner route like that against man coverage it makes it tough on the defense keep the sticks moving [Applause] sweetheart and he's tackled after positive yardage about four yards on that play second down on the six going in they come to the line in the flexbone formation they go with the option great play there on the option near the end zone this fullback is great at doing a lot of the dirty work he's a hard guy to bring down and no one expects him to get the ball there that's what turned this play into a great touchdown [Applause] he makes the pat that score leads us to our Drive [Applause] summary and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff short kick he didn't get a hold of that one he wasn't breaking that tackle what a hit the defense really stepped up to force that three and out on the last Drive Ace Back Field inside give makes it out to about the 49 and he reeled off a big one there this offensive line is built to allow this tailback to make plays as you just saw he's able to get into the open and create some excitement right there and it's knocked away you got to be careful throwing in the coverage like that well coach I don't think it was a poor decision it was just a great reaction by the man in coverage ey formation here and they use motion pass to the tight end but he bottles the ball away third down and they need to get it down to the 39 they line up with one running back in the back field three [Applause] wide drops back to pass it's broken up he almost had the completion yeah but the defense was ready and were able to get a hand on the pass and bring up fourth down they moved the ball very effectively on their last Drive which ended with a touchdown the defense has been talking it over on the sideline try to make some corrections let's see if they can stop him this time they really made it look easy on that last drive if they can get some protection up front then I look for this quarterback to make some really big plays the quarterback really kept his Poise under pressure and delivered a pretty nice little ball right there good decision here nice dump off it's only seven yards but the offense will take that play every time straight run nothing going on there he plows ahead for a two- yd gain and he's brought down there by the sophomore at safety that will not be the last time today we talk about this kid they come to the line in the flexbone formation looks like an option here and he tackles him hard at the 43 so on third down They Come Away with a first down on the option play Third and short and the defense almost had him stopped but the offense got just enough to move the [Music] chains they come out with three wide receivers run the middle and nothing there pick up of less than a yard on the play on the second down and nine to go ball in the 44 they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation nice run up the middle seven yards there yain on the so we're looking at another third down here they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation on the it's fourth down and they're ready to punt this one away the punters going to try to pin them deep in their own territory with a good punt here and he makes it out to about the 27 yd line came away with a nice return there Le Corso oh Nelly that was almost a big one my friend they'll go to work at the 27 first down 10 to go they line this one up in the shotgun four wide reer receiver split out in the formation he's got his man across the middle look at these numbers fellas now over 200 yd passing for this quarterback he's spreading the ball around nicely and he's made a couple of big plays that have really help add to that total well the quarterback's playing well but let's not forget about the pass protection the hog Molly's up front for giving him plenty of time to make good throw the quarterback did an excellent job of recognizing the Mike linebacker on the blitz he hung in there delivered the pass and his could at least throw him one pass on target single back set three wide receivers straight ahead on the give and there's no where to run I'm curious to see if they have the guts to go to the ground again after that play I'd say go for it give this running back a chance to get in a rhythm that's a good point coach but only if they can get some positive Works h on the throw he caught it he's knocked out of Bounds at about the 25 yd line he made the catch and they're still going to be short hey if you would have gotten some yards on first and second down you wouldn't have needed so many on third down guys I'm a little surprised there by the quarterback not trying to throw it deeper down field they needed a little bit more yardage than they got there for the first down not quite enough for the first looks like they'll turn it over on Downs you know what I think they still made the right call there yeah it was worth the gamble even though they didn't make it they come to the line in the flexbone formation they'll run the option and the offense will recover ouch pretty big loss on the play and I think they might want to reassess the strategy here perhaps run a screen maybe hit the and that's good for a first down short throws like this are very effective because they tend to wear down the defense over the course of a game especially when they get you a first down and keep the offense on the field with an injury update here's Aaron Andrews thank you guys though he was limping coming off the field it appears only to be a strain everything appears to be all right and he's it to the 23 the defense lines up with five defensive [Applause] backs pass complete but out of bounds and the wide out couldn't drag a foot yeah but he showed really nice hands on that play nickel defense hey sometimes you got to take risks too bad it didn't turn out well for them they'll go to work at the 31 yd line first down 10 to go they line up in an eye straight run nothing going on there they get three yards on the play this run was disrup erupted by the blitz of the middle linebacker yep and the halfback couldn't slip by good play by the defense there toss play good outside run there he picks up about four yds on the toss play third down and they're going to need about three yards to pick up the first down one man Back [Applause] Field they'll go with the Run once again couldn't get that additional yard he needed to keep the drive mve no he was trying to muscle his way past those big guys but they stood their ground Fields it and hit immediately so before the offense hits the checks in now let's see if he gets some action they'll bring him down right around the 32 yd line that'll be enough to move the chains you know you can just look at the offensive line and see the Surge and that running back did a good job of reading the blocks to pick up the first down oh yeah Kirk the big uglies are getting it done up front aren't they highe formation here looking left finds his fullback tackle made right around the 18 yd line that was a nice catch he went up leaving his body susceptible to the hit but he came down with it and got a first down hey at this level of college football those are the plays you have to make and he did well coming down with that one drops back to pass the defender had his hands on it but it's incomplete unbelievable he had a pick in the end zone and it just slipped right through his hands wow he is really kicking himself after that one single set back field give to the running back and he's going to lose yardage and the defensive and lineman to block this guy because that's multiple times now that he's been knocked down by this young guy straight ahead on the give there's nowhere to run though and he gets a yard on the Run here's third and 11 ball on their own 33 the offense lines this one up in the shotgun with two tight [Applause] ends he drops back he's going long and he got it and he's he's taken down at the 28 and with that last pass coach this quarterback's gone over 300 yd for the game a very impressive performance [Applause] indeed now it's first and 10 with a defense trying to regroup after giving up the big pass straight ahead on the give there's nowhere to run though picked up a yard of anything on that run from the 28 yd line it's second Down single back set three wide receivers tackled after a decent pickup a pickup of five yain on the play they'll line it up again on third down the defense is in the nickel they'll give it off here brought down at the 23 yd line they'll be stopped before they reach the first down marker now that was some real hard-nosed defense way to bring up fourth down guys and it's the offense that takes the field on fourth down new running back now into the back [Applause] field looks to the back and can't connect they went for it but they were denied well that was a situation where they they had to go for it I agree they can't afford to let the other team hold on to the ball the time is ticking away a conversion there could really help it but it just wasn't to be they come to the line in the flexbone formation looks like an option here that'll be a takes him in the wrong direction that play just got stuck I think the quarterback might have been better off keeping it itself and cutting up field the defense lines up with five defensive backs drops back to pass the hit knocks it Loose incomplete excellent series by this defense forcing them to go three and out and the offense really struggled on this drive they're going to have to pick it up if they want to move the ball on these [Applause] guys calls for the fair Catch and now we'll see the offense come out out of the field for their next possession they'll take over at the 45 yd line we've got a first and 10 they line up in a double tight set run left and he's taken down in the back field Kirk how about that defensive end getting in there on that plate that is just a great play getting into the back field this guy is so quick that the ball carrier never had a chance complet it but he can't shake the defense they get four yards on that pass play tight end does a good job here of selling his block and then getting out on his route making a nice catch for a good [Applause] game caught with room to work and they make the stop right around the 44 yd line and that pass and catch gives them a first down yep they got the first down but it wasn't by much you guys they line up in the shotgun three wide pressure that time and he was forced into throwing before he wanted to wow the kid just avoided getting smacked on that one High formation here tackle made right around the 42 yd line maybe a few but that's it third down now and they need to get it down to the 34 they'll work from the [Applause] shotgun they go with a run and he's going to be stopped short they attempted to pick up the first by running it and they failed yeah the defensive line won the battle easily that [Applause] play and they could really put their opponent in bad field position with a good punt here they'll down this one at the nine the offense is looking to be a little bit more successful with this drive as they had to punt the ball away the last time they had it they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set takes a hand off inside and stopped the immediately and the fullback plows ahead for maybe a yard second down 10 yds to go ball on their own [Applause] nine one more quarter to play our score here in Atlanta Georgia Tech 36 FSU 17 17 they'll run the option he's taken down around the N9 yd line the defensive end was the Victor on that play as he bolted in to tackle him for a loss and he was able to do that because the interior lineman held their ground leaving the runner with no options they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set tackle right around the 26 yd line coach you got something for us there yes I do with that that last throw he's thrown for over 300 yds in this game I know the defensive coordinator is kicking and hollering right now on the sidelines and even though they're comfortably in the lead it doesn't look like they're going to stop passing the ball they'll run the option very good tackle in space three yards there on the option keeper from their own 29 yd line Second down they come to the line in the flexbone formation [Applause] runs it up the gut and hit a wall of Defenders two yd carry by the fullback and that was the linebacker that got him he wasn't letting the ball carrier go very far nickel [Applause] defense here's the option to the right they tackle him there and he's still going to be short he'll be stopped just short of a first down a oh so close yet so far away I thought he had [Applause] it they bring him down and they bring him down hard on that one they're just about ready to get this drive started after their last series had some promise but it ended with a punt they'll set up shot at the 40 single back set three wide receivers tosses it out and they make the stop at the 43 yd line three yard gain by the running back and there's not much he could do to get away from the junior safety on that play they come out with four wide out brought down at the 49 yard line I'll tell you this receiver showed really good hands on that play this kid is always calling for the ball and if he keeps making plays like that he'll continue to get the ball they line up with one running back in the back field three wide they go the run and he's tackled in the back field for a loss hey coach the linebackers sniffed that play out from the start yep he wasn't going to be denied that tackle no matter who was trying to block him off s eye formation in the back field he'll get it again taken down as he works the left for a nice game they'll get six yards third down and they need to get it down to the [Applause] 39 they'll look from the [Applause] shotgun they keep it on the ground and a great tackle right there and that won't be enough for the first down great job here in shutting down the Run that's a real boost for this team the defense sets up in the nickel lets it go and he couldn't hang on to it incomplete not much of a chance on that one well he had to go for it we're at a point where there's not much time left and you got to put it all on the line nine times out of 10 the defense will make a stop on that play but you know based on the situation this offense did have to go for four they'll go to work at the 47 first and 10 they'll line it up in the flexbone set they'll run the option tackled after a decent pickup around four yds there on the quarterback [Music] keeper second and Six coming up here ball on the 49 yd line they come to the line in the flexbone formation they'll go with the option nice run and he's brought down the thing I love about this guy is he can throw the ball he can run it that's hard to stop they line it up with three receivers gets it out to the back first down they'll bring him down at the 20 that's great execution quarterback made a nice throw and the receiver was able to go up and make the [Applause] play it's first and 10 ball on the 20 they'll line it up in the flexbone set he's under some heat huge play and it's going to be first and goal this is a nice run for the first down by this quarterback the defense looks confident as they held him to a field goal on their last Red Zone [Applause] trip they'll run the option he's taken down around the N yd line I'll tell you what for a defensive back this kid is a sure tackler and he showed it right there no question you can tell these guys are very well coach when you see these kind of [Applause] tackles they go with the option nice run to the left there a pick up of five on the option to the fullback here we go folks third and goal from the four they're crowding that line of scrimmage right side with the option and he's shoved out of bound at the one yd line the tail back pi picks up about three yds on the option play and it sails through the uprights and now we take a look at the drive summary Georgia Tech kick this one off he sends it off he's to the 20 down and it's caught that was a pretty nice completion yeah but it's still a three possession game and that's a lot of ground to make up in the fourth quarter I give him credit though this quarterback quarterback yo sweethearts this kid has really impressed me today he provides great pressure and he really adds to this great pass rush and how about that hit yo he punished that quarterback pretty good fires incomplete third down and they need to get it down to the 20 the defense comes out with five defensive backs this time and it's knocked down how about that play coach Kirk that's exactly how you teach a player to defend the pass do anything possible to disrupt the play you don't necessarily have to make the interception to make a big play on defense that's very true now they'll have a fourth down situation he's looking to pass passes left gets it out to the halfback and they push him out at the 29 what a goodlooking stop that was but at hungry defense they come to the line in the flexbone formation he unloads it and they couldn't hook up on that one he tried to hit his receiver in stride but overthrew it a little too much that'll comeing time just repetition throwing that same pass over and over and he'll be fine looks like an option here nice run and he's brought down four yds gain from their own 33 yd line third down five DBS on the field passes to the back incomplete not a lot of success for this offense on this drive coach the defense did exactly what they had to do and that stopped them for three and [Applause] out he makes it out to maybe the 39 yd line and now a slight break in the action as the offense comes out onto the field for their next possession three wide receivers on the field the quarterback in the shotgun they'll bring him down at about the 41 maybe a few but that's it second and nine ball on their own 41 two tight end set straight in the middle and he meets the defense the running back gets a yard maybe less from their own 41 yd line it's third down five DBS on the [Applause] field here's a throw I don't think he got anything on that so there was not much doing on that pass play and that's going to bring up fourth down boy coach I can't really figure out that play call that's not a very aggressive effort to try to get a first down nickel [Applause] defense looking to throw he's got got it with room to run and he's taken down at the 50 yd line this quarterback acts like he doesn't even know it's Fourth Down out there did you see how calm he looked in the pocket he showed great composure I don't think he's done moving the ball down the field slings it out there incomplete he's asking to get picked off that was a close one all right if no one's open there's nothing wrong with tucking it in and trying to pick up the first on the ground they line up in an eye again with the Run got him open field they go with a run and that'll be a gain of nine n y it's third down and this offense is about three feet away from that first down marker and we got a new man in there running back hands it to the back he's tackled right around the 32 yd line and a big run on third down good job there by the offensive line allowing the runner to get some good yardage le as you know anytime you can move the ball like this you're putting a lot of pressure on that defense and he's tackled in the open field that one worked pretty well and it's a good job here by the wide receiver to get open he created good separation from the defense the kicker got him three points in that last Red Zone visit let's see if they can come away with six this time knock down incomplete and that might have been a touchdown I'll tell you what that should have been a touchdown the quarterback was a little late on the pass and that allowed The Defender enough time to make a play on the football takes a hand off inside and stopped immediately maybe a yard on the Run by the tail back from the 19 yd line it's third down they come out with three wide [Applause] receivers dangerous throw this one's picked off oh man did he take a hit wow this defensive back has great hands maybe they should try him at [Applause] receiver they come to the line in the flexbone formation first down grab by the receiver that is not easy to stop the quarterback hit his man on an out route and the defender was in man cover as a Defender and man coverage you cannot get beat deep and as a result the underneath routes are going to be there as you can see it worked out great for the offense as they were looking for a new set of downs he picks up a yard on the play from their own 22 yd line Second down they come to the line in the flexbone formation and straight ahead we go with a pullback tackle at the yd line he's not your ordinary fullback this guy can move you bet he can I like this kid he's a heck of a football player they need to get him some more carries they'll line it up in the flex bone set he's to the 40 it's all about chipping away at the defense even short yardage completions can have a way of building a quarterback's confidence they come to the line in the flex bone for [Applause] option right gets to about the 44 yd line the option keeper gets him two maybe three yards and he's brought down there by the senior at linebacker that won't be the last time today we'll be talking about this young man they line it up with three [Applause] receivers nice run there as they work the outside here we got a chance to see the half pack take the sweep I thought there was pretty good blocking up front and he was able to take it for the first down with the guards and tackles opening up Poes like that for the ball carryer it's very easy to have a successful running attack they'll run the option that'll be a two- yd gain that was a great tackle the Defenders seemingly came out of nowhere and put a big hit on the ball [Applause] carrier they come to the line in the flexbone formation here's the option brought down at the 47 he holds on to it and gets maybe two yards and they'll look to convert here on another third down they come out with three wide [Applause] receivers they'll go with the option and he's tackled around the 45 yd line they don't pick up the First on that play Brad that defense is saying not so fast my friend you're not going to run that ball that [Applause] easy they're trying to pin them deep with a solid punt right here it's away short punt they threw a pick the last time out should be interesting to see what they do this time as the quarterback you just have to get that last play out of your head all quarterbacks make mistakes but the ones that don't repeat those mistakes are the really good ones Bo that was a good defensive effort there the ball was there but the defender beat the receiver to it nice play High formation here wants to throw but he's not going to have time they got him as a quarterback you have to be aware of the pass rush two tight end [Applause] set here's the tight end [Applause] drops fourth down down and the offense is still on the field three down linemen and two linebackers on the field in this defense and they're going to have to give the ball back after going for it on Fourth and long not much you can do there you got to go for it and give yourselves a chance you aren't going to convert many fourth Downs against this defense that's a really good stop they'll start at the 24 they come to the line and the flex bone formation straight run nothing going on there it looked like they picked up a yard or a little less second and nine ball in the 23 yd line they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation run the middle and nothing there that run didn't go far they'll spot the ball a yard from the line of scrimmage third and seven coming up here ball on the 22 yd line they'll line it up in the flexbone [Applause] set they go with the option back and he's pushed out of bounds setting up a first and goal a nice third down conversion there guys this offense has a tendency to run the football in this situation as you can see with with good reason or any situation for that matter if I'm the coach I'm going to run the option play over and over again until they prove to me that they can stop [Applause] it option left side three maybe four yards there on the option to the fullback second down so they line up on the three yd line going in they come to the line in the flexbone [Applause] formation and down he goes at the one yd line so they pick up three on the option keeper this is where the defense makes a name for themselves it's third down and goal from the one they're crowding the [Applause] line they go with a run and they stopped him they give it to the fullback on the option he gets back to the line of scrimmage and that's it this should be an easy field goal [Applause] and it sails through the uprights and here's our Drive summary they're lined up to kick and they might just kick it short and prevent a long return short kickoff he makes it to the 35 yd line the offense saw their last Drive end on fourth down will we see a similar result this time this defense stepped up to the challenge on that last drive and they sent a big message to that offense if you go for it then we'll stop you they go with the run and he's taken down behind the line the offense calls a [Applause] timeout second
