to those that stayed up late with us for the postcast even after that agonizing defeat but this was the game that would never end and it got to the point where you felt like the Tigers had this game won three different times maybe and there were some base running blunders by the Athletics Terk scoble I mean it was soft contact all night from TK scoble that even got the Tigers to Extra Innings in the first place um some wild pitches from that's how the Tigers scored their second run to eventually tie it up in the top of the seventh there and then as it played out I thought it was another night where Parker Meadows was the hero and he had two more hits again tonight and one of them was a two RBI double the Tigers couldn't hold that lead because Shelby Miller gives it up and there's just there really is so much to unpack but you look at that 10th inning Colt Keith singles you think with two outs may I add and you think great all right let's go close this one chance to do it in the 10th but Rooker doubles to left and that ties the game back up at three now this is where it gets a little interesting second inning of Extra Innings Parker Meadows two-run double Rogers and Tolson scorer which don't even get me started on Tolson I mean just an egregious effort from Spencer Tolsen at the plate and maybe efforts not fair but just a horrible night um 0 for six I mean what it's going to be tough not to repeatedly harp on the 0 for six from Spencer Tolson and uh we lost our light hang tight it's a live locked on tigers postcast and uh we're back baby how about that all right if you're watching on YouTube sorry it went dark there for a second um but we're back with you and back to the scoring summary it felt like after that two-run double by Parker Meadows that this game was one I mean you go up five to3 Shelby Miller on the mound he gives up the two-run Homer to Brown and we're back where we started then in the 12th it's Riley green with the single to put the Tigers up 65 and this is honestly where I felt like the Tigers were pulling um just like the last Extra Innings loss to the Padres where they were just live living with like nine lives like a cat they they had the bases loaded and only give up the one run to then force it to um another inning of extra Innings into the 12th and or into the 13th rather Tigers don't score A's do brown singles to right leay scores and that's your ball game and like I said I feel like this was four games maybe even five games all wrapped into one but it felt in some ways eerily similar to the last time the Tigers lost in Extra Innings just the other night on Wednesday against the Padres and I heard the stat from Dan Dickerson who was on call tonight not Jason bennetti um well the TV call of course Dan Dickerson always on the radio call but he was doing TV with bennetti doing college football on the weekends it felt like this couldn't be right when I heard Dan Dickerson say the Tigers were eight and eight in Extra Inning games entering tonight and I just I couldn't believe that I feel like they lose every single Extra Inning games I would have guessed 0 and 15 um obviously it's a little bit of hyperbole but it does it I did not expect them to be eight and8 in 16 Extra Inning games I did not expect them well now eight and nine I also heard that there was just five MLB games that have gone to the 13th inning or later since the implementation of the dumbest rule in sports and if you this is actually a good example of to of why I hate the ghosty Runner as much as I do and if you want to start the ghost runner on second in the 13th inning or in the 12th inning whatever it may be then sure fine but uh I don't think you need it in the 10th and the 11th um and maybe we could start having a discussion about the 12th but I've I've said that from time to time but man just as far as the bigger picture with the whole season this is just such a kick to the gut because it was so fun last night with Parker Meadows late inning heroics and you have your Ace on the mound Terk scho we're going to talk all about his start um because it wasn't bad it certainly wasn't bad at all all and even the final the final line is something you would take I mean five and 2/3 the two ear in runs but nine hits and it just it didn't feel like any of those balls were barreled up it was just even the the single the opposite way from Cameron that made it two to one in the sixth inning you're just double Palms up what is happening why are all of these softly hit balls finding a way to to um or finding the Green Grass and becoming base hits and that was the type of night it was for the Tigers and you really thought they had written the ship and were going to steal one in extras but to no avail all right we got some comments to get to and then we'll continue on with lock on Tigers postcast I want to say thank you to everybody staying up late so Rufus Elgato day baseball leads us off although he's a West Coast guy so um it would be what it'd be let's see 12 11 10 probably 10:45 where he is that was pure torture I hate the extra base runner thing yeah completely agree the ghost runner on second to begin an inning is just so um it's it's foolish it's backyard stuff it's it's um I don't want to say Bush league but it's just not it's not baseball Larry Dana David says ding dang exactly Demetrius mcneel staying up with us two tigers with golden sombreros Parker Meadows and Spencer Tolson therefore 17 times they've been struck out might eliminate this team from playoff contention or maybe not yeah as far as the playoff contention go um it's a tough night Minnesota and Kansas City are playing each other so those games are going to cancel out Seattle won um I believe Boston won let me uh let me see if I can find that game some great podcasting here um Seattle beat the Cardinals Kansas City was all over Minnesota five to nothing and um Dodgers lost to the Guardians so Guardian won and Red Sox oh yeah they're playing the white socks so of course they won so just a tough night um because again you felt like you had this game one multiple times I for sure felt like they had the game one after the Parker Meadows two run double I'm not gonna lie who pitches for the Tigers later today hinch basically used the entire Bullpen I think he had to I didn't agree with I'll tell you where I didn't agree with AJ hin Bullpen usage was bringing uh taking out Tyler Holton in what would have been let's see um D D D D D D D D was that that first inning of Extra Innings because he gets the first out and then Dan Dickerson even said well he got the out he needed um but why not just ride the hot hand and continue to let him let him cook as they say he's your best relief pitcher I know the Lefty righty splits and everything like that um but I believe that would have been yeah so Tyler holton's pitching in the bottom of the 10th and he gets the strike out of Butler and then hanfy comes in and gives up the double to to Rooker and we're back to a tie game and not saying you know that um Tyler Holton would get the rest of the A's lineup but I like my chances with Tyler Holton over hanify and I like my chances with Tyler Holton over anybody he's given up two runs in basically two and a half months so that was a portion of the bullpen selection I did didn't agree with the Shelby Miller one we can debate that one as well I had people hitting me up on X so Shelby Miller's his numbers are actually pretty good well you know what else is good for the opposition anyways when he soft serves a slider middle middle and it's jacked out of the park which is what we saw tonight so um I feel like I see that more with Shelby Miller than anything else but a lot of people chiming in and this is a good one to send us to break Hannah Banana Shelby Miller sucks yeah he's um I don't need to see Shelby Miller taking the mound in a tiger's uniform anymore we can all agree with that and you might say well you don't know the numbers you don't know your stuff Jake well I have the eye test for you and maybe that's not enough that's a simplistic way of looking at it sure but no more the Tigers in the 10th a run for the A's in the 10th two runs for the Tigers in the 11th two runs for the A's in the 11th a run for the Tigers in the 12th a run for the A's in the 12th and tigers held scoreless in the 13th and voila A's win it in the home half of the 13 so when you look at the Bullpen usage again I don't think AJ H should have taken Tyler Holton out I would have loved to see him ride that hot hand and just see if he can will you to that Victory as opposed to go into hanfy and I again mentioned the back and forth I was getting into with a couple people on Twitter about Shelby Miller versus will vest I mean will vest hasn't been the best either but I would take him over Shelby Miller and then Bo brisky I actually I don't want to give him credit for the um kind of the disaster that started that home half of the 12 but for him to get out of that inning with only giving up one run was actually kind of impressive um the base is loaded and it's just the one sack fly then he gets two more easy popups um even though torque trying to field those popups is an adventure but Bo brisky gets hit with the loss he's two and four um on the season and as far as again um there was a comment mentioning how the Tigers just ran through their entire Bullpen tonight they did I mean there is no if ANS or buts about it and brand herder is GNA get the start tomorrow but you hope he can put forth a really good day to try to give that Bullpen a break and some kind of rest because they're going to need it after the taxing outing that they just had and unfortunately it all amounts for nothing and it amounts for a loss so when you look at the Wild Card Standings which we love to do on a live locked on tigers and why not the Tigers have been the best team in baseball since July 1st which is just crazy to say they haven't really been World beaters either I think they're now with the loss I think they're nine games above 500 since July 1 something like 33 and 24 I got to double check that though um but Tigers fall all the way even below the Red Sox now five and a half games back of Minnesota who um after losing to the Royals now Minnesota Minnesota let me try that again Minnesota Minnesota if you've seen that Joe Biden gift I crack myself up Minnesota they're 76 and 65 Mariners four and a half back 72 and 70 Red Sox five back 71 and 70 Tigers five and a half back right at the even 500 of 71 and 71 and tonight hurts it really does um you got to find a way to come back and get two a three if you do that then it's a 500 road trip um to the West Coast it'd be three and three and you can reset and just try to own that home stand beginning with those games against the Colorado Rockies who we know are not good but after that you have to go or no you uh remains home so it's the six game homeand three with the Rockies and then three with the Orioles and obviously the Orioles um I believe them and the Yankees are gunning it out for um the AL East and right now it's the or Orioles 82 and 60 and the Yankees 81 and 60 so a half game in front of the Yankees but point being that Orioles team really really good hey we thank you for making lock down bummer because I think the people of Oakland deserve better and they'll eventually end up in Vegas um I don't think Vegas wants a baseball team I don't think it's a I mean say what you will about the success of the Vegas Knights and now with the Raiders there but it's it's a destination and yes it's becoming a sports city but I mean the people of Oakland love their Athletics and look at the atmosphere tonight Dan Dickerson couldn't get enough of it he was talking about how great of an atmosphere was I mean 14,000 people there and it sounds like a playoff atmosphere and like I mentioned in the previous segment some of the greatest playoff atmospheres were at the Coliseum and it's just a shame and I know it's it's a dive bar it's kind of a dump but uh before and Dan Dickerson and Dan Petri talked about this before Al Davis put the mountain at the top um for Raiders games it was a beautiful scenic Ball Park venue um in in just great views in the into the bay and unfortunately it just was ruined um and like I said I think the the people of Oakland deserve better and it's a bummer um that that great once proud organization is kind of just uh Falling by the wayside and I know like I said I know they're goingon to play some games in I believe Sacramento and then while the Stadium's being built in Vegas but it just uh won't be the same that's for sure all right lots of
