Although this this fight has been going on for a while, it's far from over. Three major wildfires continuing to burn tonight across four different counties in Southern California. It is fire season. Please take seriously evacuation orders and also thank the men and women in uniform. Governor Newsom toured the line fire in San Bernardino County while declaring a state of emergency for that one, plus the bridge and airport fires. Good evening. Welcome to Fox seven News at Ten. I'm Alex Michaelson and I'm Christine Devine. We begin tonight with breaking news fires ravaging southern California. We have live team coverage. Chelsea Edwards is live with the bridge fire and Las Vegas with the airport fire. Meteorologist Adam Kruger with the latest conditions. We begin with Chelsea at the largest of all the fires burning tonight. She is live at Mountain High. Chelsea Christine, this is an incredibly dynamic fire and an active one with an active fight. We're seeing a lot of scenes like this as we drove up to Mountain High Resort on either side of the highway. Look at this. You've got a lot of spot fires that are going largely unchecked. Large trees that you can see just smoldering, burning logs, lots of embers that are all over the place. This fire, still at 0% containment. Flames are visible from all aroundnd Ws Wrightwood as the bridge bridge fire continues to rage through the Angeles National Forest, exploding to more than 49,000 acres. Hopefully I can see to get out of here. Oh, boy. This cell phone video shows active flames on either side of highway two, taken by a resident manager of Mount Care near Mountain High Resort. When I got here, yeah, I don't even know how to describe it. Like Armageddon, like. I mean, all #### broke loose. Really. Though flames consumed parts of the Christian camp, the main buildings were spared, which Li considers a miracle. When you look at the evidence, it's pretty evident that God's hand was in saving the camp. It's burnt everywhere except the buildings. Yeah, it's incredible. In the nearby town of Wrightwood, a different story where 13 homes were destroyed. Another 20 lost in the Mount Baldy area, but some Wrightwood residents are staying put despite a mandatory evacuation order and despite the ever changing conditions on the mountain. I'm pretty confident I can make sure that at least my house and my neighbor's houses are safe. Last night was pretty crazy because of the wind came through here, I couldn't even see the neighbor's house from the smoke. It was so thick. And talk about that smoke. It is so incredibly thick here at Mountain High Resort. You can barely hear it, or you can just see it and smell it. You can taste it. It's just really intense out here right now. The good news is the temperature has dropped significantly. We're only at about 57 degrees here at Mountain High right now. But again, firefighters have a very long fight ahead of them. This is really just getting going as we are still at 0% containment. That's the latest from Mountain High I'm Chelsea Edwards. Send it back to you. All right Chelsea we hope you're able to stay safe out there tonight. Tonight a Norco man under arrest accused of deliberately started the massive lion fire burning in San Bernardino County. 34 year old Justin Wayne Halstenberg is being held on $80,000 bail. Two other men also under arrest after deputies say they were found with burglary tools in an area of running springs that had to be evacuated. New numbers out tonight. Over 36,000 acres have gone up in flames since the fire started on Thursday. Containment now at 18%. Three firefighters have been injured. More than 10,000 people have been evacuated and more than 65,000 structures. Both homes and businesses currently threatened. We continue our live team coverage of these wildfires with Fox Eleven's Ed Laskos in Lake Elsinore covering the airport fire. Ed and Christine finally, a really big break here. First time ever in this firefight. You could feel it in the air. That heat wave is gone, easing up much cooler. And also, it seems the fuel for this fire mostly gone. The fire burning over the hillside into an area that burned six years ago in the holy fire. Remember that? Let's get you right into this. One of the roadblocks here. Grand Ave, just off Ortega Highway. Still closed because of mandatory evacuations. You can see all the flashing lights there from the sheriff's black and white. But beyond that, look how dark it is there. That's the hillside above Lake Elsinore. That's the best thing you're going to see. See? There's no flames up there, just darkness. Watch Night three of the airport fire. Only a few hotspots still glowing up there after a desperate firefight. It was rushing down pretty quick. And now tonight, it's. Thankfully, it's gone. It was starting up a little bit, I want to say around, like 7:00. We were seeing a little bit of flames, but thankfully, you know, they got it under control. This along Ortega Highway, one of those hotspots of burning, bush burning chaparral quickly knocked down by this hose line. That is, water drops continue seemingly nonstop as fire command pushes through a break in the heat wave to break the fire's approach. We held the fire to minimal perimeter growth last night through today, and our firefighters are working around the clock to not only uphold that trend, but hopefully begin containment. But the damage in some of the mountain top communities already done and it was, I don't know, quite a disaster, a smoldering disaster here. Walking through this area off Ortega Highway, vehicle after vehicle burnt down to the rims. Several homes structures here burned right down to their foundations. Check this. It's what's left of a bathtub. The only thing left here. I don't know for sure if it. It was burning down towards the house when I left, and I just packed everything. I grabbed a few things and grabbed my animals and got out. He doesn't know if his home is even still standing. Even firefighters don't know, the extent of which remains unknown at this time as it is unsafe for our assessment teams to enter that area. All this after the out-of-control fire roared out from Trabuco Canyon in Orange County, a wall of flames blasting over the mountain top into Riverside County, now stopping its fiery march just in time. I woke up at like three in the morning for work and they were still fighting it. You could still yeah, you could still see the flames pretty high on top. So they really did a good job. They. Yeah, they took care of her. You know my respect for them. You could say that again. All of our respect to those brave firefighters now live quickly from fire command. Some of the latest numbers. More than 23,000 acres burned here. Only number that matters. Containment. It is only at 5%. We have ten firefighters hurt. One of them ran into a beehive, stung hundreds of times. Two civilians hurt as damage estimates continue to come in. Now for more on the fire situation, particularly the weather situation, a big impact on all of this, let's head to meteorologist Adam Kruger. Adam. It's yours. All right. Thanks. Well, things are working in our favor a little bit now. You talked about the temperatures lowering the relative humidity is gradually on the rise as well. But as far as our wind concern, the biggest issue is going to be up at the bridge fire. There's a fire weather warning in effect until 10 a.m. tomorrow, because that's where the winds will be most breezy. And we also have the very dry air as well up in this area. But gusts will be from the west at about 20 to 30mph through the night tonight. So winds actually picking up a little bit tonight compared to what they saw earlier in the day for the bridge fire. Then we also go farther north into the high desert. We have a wind advisory here with wind gusts 35 to 55mph. And then of course, a large part of our area dealing with the smoke. So air quality alerts continue through the day on Thursday for everywhere in gray. So for LA it's pretty much from around the five eastward. And you can see all these gray areas here. Now as we look at current air quality sensors, most of them are not too bad. Closer to the LA basin. But you go on the right side of the map right here. Notice these kind of maroon colors right here. That is hazardous air quality being reported right now at Big Bear. And also over towards Palm Springs. Alex Adam, let's talk more about that. Given all those fires burning across Southern California, let's talk about the impact the smoke can have on your health. Marla is here with that. Marla. Alex, more than 100,000 acres are burning across four local counties tonight. As we've reported, that's a lot of wildfire smoke, as we just saw from Adam to. This is all causing terrible air quality. Well, tonight, our medical contributor says the most vulnerable residents are those with chronic respiratory issues like asthma. They're going to be really at risk for an exacerbation of those chronic medical problems, because wildfire pollution is much more concentrated with particulate matter than just our regular air pollution. So it doesn't take much to trip you over into an exacerbation. Doctor. Michael Daniel, there on set with Alex at six tonight, gave us his tips to combat the toxic air and stay safe. Tip number one is for those lucky enough to have air conditioning. What I recommend everybody out there have your AC on and turn it to recirculate within the house, within the apartment so it doesn't pull in air from the outside. You really want to get a portable Hepa filter for indoors, and if you need to go outside, you got to wear an N95 mask just to reduce your exposure. So speaking of limiting exposure, doctor Daniel says now is not the time to do any sort of workouts outside. He says it could take several more days for that air quality to improve. Once all these fires are put out. Now, once it does, that's when you can head out for that walk or run. And we just saw Adam in that map and he basically said from the five East we have the air quality alert, obviously Riverside, Palm Springs, those are hardest hit right now. So it's going to take some time until it's really safe and healthy to go out, especially if you have asthma. Yeah. And we saw Chelsea Edwards needing that mask tonight because the air was so bad. It sounded suffocating. Yeah, yeah. All right. I was actually in the Mid-City area and I saw an ash, which is it's amazing. And then have you seen the
