the stars have descended on Hollywood North it is the first day of the Toronto International Film Festival we have full coverage of day one starting with the red carpet premiere of The Comedy Nutcracker starring Ben [Music] Stiller the red carpet rolled out for some of Hollywood's finest including Ben Stiller making his return to acting after a six-year Hiatus with nutcrackers a comedy about a man forced to take care of his orphan nephews I had so much fun making the movie it was such a a labor of love and and and just an organic process making this movie with David and who had this idea in his head because he KN knew these kids and to be working with these kids who' never acted before is you know their first lead um it was it was just like it was just so much fun the film by director David Gordon was inspired by the Janson brothers who also star in the movie alongside Stiller their first ever film our and David were best friends and he came over to visit us like a couple years ago and then we swam in our pond with him we were having a great time and then he just said this would be a great movie and then he just ended up being us and then we basic characters off of us and now we're in a movie the red carpet for nutcrackers was the first of many that'll be taking place over the two we long movie marathon the event featuring over 270 films for this 49th Edition ition of the festival mayor Olivia Chow walking the red carpet tonight excited for Toronto to Showcase its talent in the entertainment industry it's a boost to the Toronto economy but also Toronto is really a fil capital in North America we have diverse talents we have good production world class uh film studios and we have very good um what do I call it imagination of people
