Norman, OK: Excessive Heat Warning 8/24/2024 Wilderness Weather

well thank you for joining us here on Wilderness weather I'm meteorologist Thomas Gite here on the afternoon of August 24th 2024 we've got an excessive heat warrant today which means we'll have heat index values up to 110° today and our actual air temperature will even be reaching over 100 today with temperatures topping out right around 101 or 102 and it it's going to be very hot out there today even a few degrees warmer than yesterday um and that that heat index that heat excessive heat warning began at at uh noon and is going to last until 900 p.m. this evening um and so it it'll be very hot out there today temperatures tonight will fall back into the mid to Upper 70s probably and then um tomorrow we will Top out in the in the high 90s in a heated visory is possible tomorrow too we're we're kind of teetering right on the edge of that and then after that temperatures will fall back to the the mid90s for highs most of the this upcoming week with lows in the mid 70s so slightly cooler than it will be this weekend but still relatively warm out there and we also have a very small chance for some scattered showers this afternoon too I'm thinking mainly west of I35 for those but uh certainly certainly there is a risk of a few showers out there today but nothing nothing crazy and um and and then also we're going to monitor potentially for a cold front um as we head into next Thursday or Friday so yep stay tuned on if we have a heat advisory tomorrow I'll certainly send out a video if we do and thanks and have a great and safe evening
