What to Expect from Zachary Orr's Ravens Defense!

[Music] but Joshua we got a new defensive coordinator this year Mr Zachary or um not a name that many had initially thought would become the Ravens DC after Mike McDonald left a lot of people thinking uh Weaver would take over that job but what are your thoughts and what are your expectations for what this Zachary or Ravens defense is going to be I mean let's go back to it let's think about the way Zachary or played you know as a raven he was he was you know a hostile linebacker you know he knew how to break down and make a tackle he'll run through you um whether you put him on the field on special teams or you know during regular snaps he'll get up the field and he he it was Reckless uh endangerment um I think he runs the same type of Defense um a level variation of what Mike madono did you know a sort of a sort of a par package you have a young Trenton Simpson who I feel like I'm not going to say his comp is Zachary or but in regards of speed strength length um he can get downfield he has crazy speed you can put him on you can you can put him you can put his hand on the ground he can line up on the outside as a you know outside linebacker if needed to be he can be the middle line he can be the weak inside linebacker you still have your you know your captain in the middle of ran Smith and you also still have Kyle Hamilton like you just said M that's going to year three so he has chest pieces that he can literally move around and these guys ain't goingon to get I'm going say it like this these guys ain't goingon to get tied the reason I said they ain't gonna get tied it's going to be a lot of moving pieces and he gonna make sure his dogs are out there on the field and when you have and I feel like he's going to have the same type of effect that Antonio Pierce had and Deo Ryan when Antonio Pierce took over for the uh are they in Vegas now Raiders uh when he took over everybody showed up the voluntary o OTAs Deo Ryan and CJ strot both I mean granted that's that's a different situation but first round pick and also first year head coach them young men played their behinds off for demo Ryan and their defense was all over the field they had Young Guns blitzing stunting you know getting getting interceptions and he has a lot of agile players that he can use to an advantage so I definitely see I see a PR package I definitely see a lot of one-on ones not a lot of not a lot of stunts I feel like you know when it comes to the guys on the trenches it's going to be a mono aano type of situation they're going to be stunts here and there but I feel like hey adafi I know you work best you know us just uh bull rushing or using your power moves go get go to work on this right tackle right here you know this is this is his weakness he move he moves like this when he when when you get him like this do this you know David Ojo I know you have I know you got a nice decent package with you I'm going need you you know to use your use your uh technique and uh you know get to and and get to the party in the back field ran you you're the leader of that middle stunt you know go drop you in zone make make sure you show that you blissing uh Cal come down come down and show me what you're doing show me what you can work with guard I want you to guard there uh tight end CU I promise week one against the Kansas City Chiefs I know what the NFL was doing and uh doing that um it's going to be a hell of a game B I know the Ravens got a chip on their shoulder uh but they want to start I know they and understand that for well for me I want to start off this this upcoming year with a statement and this will be a statement game if well I'm not going to say if we want speak in the B when uh DC Zachary or Downs up a style of Defense where you where uh Patrick Mahomes Travis Kelce and Company going to say well damn they really they really put it on us this time and uh you know I hate to see him again in the AFC Championship game so um I definitely play it's going to be a PR package it's going to be hybrid it's going to be some hybrid type of players moving around he going to have people all over the field and those guys goingon to have fun I feel like those guys are going to really have a lot of fun yeah and one thing first expectation Zachary always is going to be on the sideline um Zachary or is not going to be a uh a booth coach he is the most he was the most entertaining coach the Baltimore Ravens had he was the hyp man coach um and when you look at the quote unquote hyp man at defensive coordinators right that have been successful and have been on good teams right I think you have to look at what the 49ers have done with their defensive coaches right Salah was first uh he was super energetic that defense was unbelievable I believe that's the he was there when they played the Chiefs the first time in the Super Bowl and then uh they go get another former linebacker um C solah I think was an outside linebacker uh when he played but then you get Deo Ryan former player they're flying around um they're having fun he's hyping him up because he knows what it it what it takes to be a linebacker in the NFL and Zachary or last year I love the fact that he's paired with ran Smith um you know one of the best linebackers if not I mean like in terms of what the Raven defense is he is the best linebacker for them him and ran him and sorry ran Smith and Fred Warner I think are two top five defensive players in the NFL they're the two best linebackers in the NFL I don't think there's anyone remotely close to them um they're very different players Fred Warner is more of a pass defense kind of guy Ran's a run stuffing defense uh linebacker but again whatever you want teach their own yeah overall Zachary or is going to have these guys playing with energy and even though Mike McDonald was a very good coach I don't think Zachary or is going to be at least not in year one he's not going to be as good because I don't think Zachary Oris coached a defense like I don't think he's ever been a play caller he is going to make sure that the energy and the passion that these guys are playing with is going to be unmatched and for a defense that includes like you brought up Joshua Kyle Hamilton ran Smith David ojabo adaa away you know Marlon Humphrey Nate Wiggins Marcus Williams you know young linebacker Trenton Simpson Justin matab all young like feisty players that are willing to talk trash are willing to you know back up like they're willing to fight somebody and this defense is going to be fighting for each other they're going to be incredibly physical I think that's what he's going to be preaching but I love that he was able to sit underneath Mike McDonald and learn from his defense and figure out how he wants to adapt it and I think that's going to allow the Ravens defense to be very good I think they lost the best defensive coordinator in the NFL that's going to be difficult to replicate but this is one of the this is probably the most talented defense in the NFL when you're looking at it and they're not necessarily getting the credit for how good their defense can be and the and the reason is because people pointed they lost Patrick queen and I want to say this for the people at home Patrick Queen was not good we do not care that we lost Patrick Queen like Patrick Queen was a legitimate only was good because he played with roquan we watched Patrick qu without R he was horrifying it was they thre him in the fire immediately as a mic like people are like oh man like losion Patrick Queen that's got to be tough and it's like I guess but really all Patrick Queen did was like run fast and like like if he was right he'd make a good play but he was wrong all the time and there were so many times where he's just way out of position and he is in coverage and you're like dude you're like eight yards away from where you need to be because he would just shoot in a direction yeah and not know where he was going hell I can do that Trenton Simpson can definitely do that like Trenton Simpson watched under him Trenton Simpson's more athletic so if you want him to play like Patrick Queen Trent Simpson can play like a better Patrick Queen we don't want him to play like a better Patrick Queen we want him to play smart linebacker football which is why we have one of the smartest linebackers ERS from you know when he was playing Zachary or yep leading this defense so I expect this defense to be really good I expect them to be you know putting guys everywhere right Marlin's gonna play on the slot he's going to play on the outside Nate Wiggins on the outside in the slot Brandon Stevens slot outside safety ardarius slot safety uh you know like niichel linebacker like they're all going to play everywhere and that's what makes this defense so hard to stop is you can put every single player at every single spot on the defense and you have no idea what the Ravens would be running and that's one of the benefits of the Ravens losing goo stone is goo Stone can't play in the Box goino Stone can't play slot he has to be single high or you know two high safety because he can't tackle like that was goino Stone's issue goino Stone could not tackle anyone and people will question well Nate Wiggins won't be able to tackle It's like because he's so small Nate Nate Wiggins was a very willing tackler Nate Wiggins was throwing himself at people but you know what MCC I love people if people say say that about Nate Wiggins uh go back and look at the history of quarterbacks that the Ravens has had especially number one quarterbacks that didn't mind tackling that was little um by by far one of the best quarterbacks in Raven history is larius web yeah small as hell but he still he still didn't mind you know getting into the trenches and get going for a tackle you know so hey I'm just saying yeah my my favorite safety of all time um is the smallest player to ever wi Defensive Player of the Year Bob Sanders um that man was that man was a willing tackler right that was a hitter man Nate wi put you out your misery he throws his body at people like Nate wiggin was a good tackler in college but people are like n we don't know if it'll work in the NFL I'll say this I don't think Nate Wiggins is tackling Derrick Henry but guess what Ravens fans we don't have to worry about that problem anymore because now we have them so that's like that was the whole question it was like remember every time we brought in a player Joshua for the last like three years it was like but can he tackle Derrick Henry like we brought in Ron Smith and we're like now we can tackle Derk Henry we got him we don't have to worry about that anymore we're done we're done with the worries about Derk Henry [Music]
