[Applause] it's Madden NFL 24 and it's brought to you by EA Sports It's the butts and the commanders all that and more coming up [Music] next this building holds just north of 80,000 and they have come out in very good numbers today at FedEx field in Landover Maryland today two NFC clubs going head to-head as it'll be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Washington commanders up in the booth with Charles Davis I'm Brandon garden and kickoff Straight Ahead CD what's one thing that you're going to have your eye on I think about what the great coaches of the past always said the key to any ball game can you rush theirs and protect yours well in this case both of these teams get after the quarterbacks I'm watching the pass rush [Applause] here's the former line eye kicker Chase mlin to get us started and we are underway from FedEx field and this will go as a Touchback and they will begin things at the 25 here are the commanders for their first drive of the game and they will be led out by their rookie quarterback I tell you what when he is on schedule for that week secondaries take notice because you've got to stay alert back there on every snap a truly powerful arm one is capable of challenging any level of the defense on any given play that's why so many Scouts preach arm time when preparing for the NFL draft a quarterback with arm strength to make every throw in the book he's an asset to have in any offense now a first Carry here for Robinson he stiff arms him and they'll get it all the way up about five yd shy of Midfield now we get a stoppage because as you can see a member of the Commander in some obvious discomfort well they come out and take a look at him we will step aside for just a moment [Applause] the big play to start him out has him at the 45 already operating from the gun Daniels and down he goes a Buccaneer sack multiple players combined for their team's first sack of the game and this is what you've got to do against a quarterback like Kim you've got to keep him in the pocket and not let him get to the perimeter because once he gets outside that's where he can really hurt you so after the sack they'll come up on a still manageable second and 13 operating from the gun Daniels nowhere to go here he lost the football and it's picked up by the Buccaneers and his guys will take over at the 30 yd line and without a doubt not the way they pictured that opening drive unfolding no they were making in progress they weren't exactly in high gear but they they were making a few yards along the way and now that they've coughed it up got to go back to the sidelines and regroup a little bit so the bucks now in great shape to begin their initial possession orchestrating the offense will be the top pick in the 2018 draft and that's Baker Mayfield and he's a guy who plays with a lot of emotion he's learned how to channel it really positively because when he throws the football downfield and makes a big play he'll be the first guy downfield to celebrate with with you but also when his team needs that confidence when they need that jolt they turn to him and he's ready to provide it so first and 10 now from the 30 Mayfield now after the fumble [Applause] recovery a throw on the run but that's going to be incomplete and I can see the officials kind of looking at each other down there silently wondering does this meet the level of grounding fortunately he did have a receiver in the area but I had I've seen less obvious throwaways called as penalties ball on the 30 as they come up second and [Applause] 10 a quick throw caught by Evans out wide he'll get only three there so it leaves him with a third and seven ahead the goal of a wide receiver screen is get enough blockers in front to create a wall and let him pick his spot to run the football how about the defense there swarming to it and not allowing that to happen did not let him get down field field in danger of squandering their great field position as they come up on a third and seven he's got his Target that's complete and he is going to have the Buccaneers first down as they're able to get the third down conversion after getting that turnover on the first drive of the game you'd hate to just stall out the momentum go three and out they're able to avoid that there yeah we talk about complimentary football all the time but I think it's a little bit deeper than that defense went out forced a turnover gave the ball to the offense as now the offense's responsibility to pay that off for them to show respect to them hey you guys got a turnover we appreciate it they want to continue their drive now a throw to the End Zone on first down but it winds up incomplete after the incomplete pass here now is second and 10 they Run for the first time here with Rashad white and he'll get about three just outside the 10 stopped at the 11 pretty good little two-play sequence there you force the incompletion then a very short pickup yeah now maybe you bring in an extra defensive back or two because you want to try and defend on third down they like to play those nickel or said packages don't they here's third and seven throwing Mayfield and he's got it caught in the end zone touchdown Tampa Bay Kade utton an 11 yd touchdown and the Buccaneers take the early turnover and converted into an opening touchdown you got to figure down by the goal line This is where a tight end earns his money in the high traffic area and he's able to work free in the middle of the end zone and grabs that one for a touchdown Chase mlin on for the extra point and that one gives the Bucks a seven to nothing lead so the drive there took six plays and Kate Aon Capa things off with a touchdown grab [Applause] [Applause] following the touchdown here's mlin to kick off taken at the goal line solid return pretty good field position they'll start at the 32 now Washington going to retake the field for Drive Number Two they had the fumble on the last Drive wound up leading to the opening touchdown now they'll try again here first and 10 throwing to to start the Drive Daniels and this will be incomplete physical play on the football there and it's second down it's another zone defense it looks like it's open for possibilities but they did a nice job patrolling the middle of the field and forcing an incompletion so now second and 10 after the incompletion on first down hand off to Robinson out of the shotgun and he work this one up to about the 38 they get six that'll leave them with third and four and that looked like some pretty easy yardage there right up the gut and he's a guy that has some height to him so when you don't have to drop a shoulder or create or get through contact or trash makes a lot easier to stay upright see the field and make a run as we just saw [Applause] there now throwing on third down there but he cannot connect every off tells you they want to come out and start fast That's Not Unusual at all but this group they've yet to get much rolling through their first two drives it looks like they have to give up the football again after this one so on fourth down Washington going to call on trese to punt it [Applause] away and he was looking for the checkup bounce didn't get it that scoots all the way into the end zone now for a Touchback Tampa Bay they're getting ready to to set up shop here for their second drive and they'll be looking to make this a two-score advantage had the touchdown on their first drive Charles hey they can get up two scores here on the road that's a heck of a start and not only have they thought about it I wonder if they visualized it I remember playing and they used to turn the lights out in our meeting room and run through a situation like this and say just think about what it would be like to be up on the road and take the crowd out of it maybe they did some of that on First and 10 and Mayfield this ball complete to Trey Palmer and he's going to get this one across the 30 yd line a gain of 11 to kick off the drive and it's a quick first down well it's almost as if they didn't leave the field after their first drive they picked right up where they left off another good throw there and this offense huming here in the early [Applause] going first down here's white and nowhere to run on the interior that defensive line he'll get back only to the line of scrimmage no gain on the play it'll be second down ladies and gentlemen that is a force of nature in the defensive tackle position yes he's as big as they come but still plenty agile he's able to make a nice play there to swallow up the ball [Applause] carrier on second down they'll run with white and they'll stop him after a gain of a couple to the 33 just there not a whole lot of room to operate there on that carry no not at all they did a really nice job staying in their proper places and not allowing any lanes to open up they'll be in search of eight yds here as they hope to convert the first down on third down Mayfield work in the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and they're going to have another first down here as the tackle made at Washington's 38 yd line he got 29 y yards that time well as a coach you absolutely love seeing your offense find their Rhythm early and that's exactly what we've seen so far they had a touchdown on their opening drive and now they connect here for another nice gain for a first down this offense is moving the ball well exactly as he drew it up in practice in Washington territory now here's first and 10 at the 38 now Mayfield running left on the option and maybe the wrong read there as he's going to go down immediately how about Jonathan Allen there pushing up field to make the stop behind the line and not a lot of success to be found there oh you got that right partner because if you're trying to make guys miss about 10 yards or so down field that's a pretty good play but if you got to do it in your own Back Field I consider that a problem that doesn't work too well that's out wide for Palmer zero hesitation that time that was get ball throw ball yeah turn turn into a smoke route if you see the coverage off the receiver doesn't matter whether you call a run or not just take the ball get it out to [Applause] him play number seven now coming up on the drive third and five play fake Mayfield and is caught touchdown Tampa Bay Mike Evans third 33 yds and the Buccaneers have taken a 13 to nothing first quarter lead another impressive drive so they're two for two two touchdowns Charles a great start to this ball game for them and one of the words has really worked its way into our lexicon is stacking they've stacked momentum each time out and not only on offense between those touchdowns defense held forced a punt to get the ball back and they've played awfully well in this one both sides playing at optimal level extra point by mlin is up and good and it's now 14 to nothing so this drive span seven plays and it's Mike Evans who caps it with a touchdown reception [Applause] following the touchdown here's mlin to kick [Applause] off here comes a return from a few steps into the end zone and the decision to come out of the end zone is going to cost him five yards as he's taken down right at the 20 out comes Washington's offense as they get set to take over here still in the first half but this offense has struggled haven't really been able to get anything going not only in the points category but in the yards category we'll see if they can do better here on this drive throwing to start the Drive Daniels and complete to Zack hers and they'll get eight out of this before being stopped at the 28 well it's time for them to be good teammates right here and what I mean by that is possess the ball for a little while get at least two first downs give their defense chance to settle down a little bit after they give up a touchdown line of scrimmage the 28 now as they come up on second and a couple off play action Daniels oh the buccaneer pressure too much down he goes multiple Defenders getting home there for a loss of 11 and that is the third sack this offensive line has allowed this first quarter yeah that puts him on Pace let me do the rudimentary math here to be sacked 12 times in a game I know he's not going to go for that I wonder if it's going to reshape what they decide to do on offense in terms of play calling well I can tell you what when he popped up shaking his head frustrated right now behind Center third down and 13 operating from the gun Daniels that's complete Terry mclen with it and he's going to be taken down about a yard shy of the first at the 29 they do get 12 but they'll be marked short and that leads to a fourth down there's another example what defensive coaches constantly preach not allowing any run after the catch they give up a few more yards than they wanted to but they were able to get him down quickly and force a fourth down that'll be a 43 yd punt just a single yard on the return and the Bucks will get ready to go on offense and Tampa Bay trots out there now it has been about as perfect of a start to this game as these guys could have asked for Charles they've scored on their first two drives they still haven't given anything up on the other side of the ball so they can already make this a three-score game here if they can come away with points on this drive yeah they're almost push them to the brink aren't they partner almost to the point now where it's a loss of words for me which I know would excite all of our viewers but you're just now supposed to see that type of dominance so quickly in a game like this everything they've done has been working so far offense defense you name it it's going well for them and he slides and covers up at the end as he's going to be able to pick up decent yardage The Improv on the scramble there gets him six and it it'll be second down [Applause] here's a toss right side with white and he's going to be met at the line of scrimmage and taken down no gain on the play that time and they'll look to convert on what'll be a third and [Applause] four 14 nothing the score this is the NFL on EA Sports second quarter now and it's Buccaneer football the Bucks on third down a perfect four for four thus far this is third and four to throw Mayfield and that is incomplete that might be the third down stop that they needed because they've got a lot of trouble slowing down this offense in the first half this might be their opportunity to get off the field a fourth down here's Jay kamart on to punt for the bucks back deep is Dax Mill fair catch called it's taken in right at the 20yd line so possession goes over here on the punt and the commanders will take over with a first and 10 they begin the drive with Robinson and he is brought down at the 22 after a gain of two and it brings up second down I think they want to start getting back into this game it behooves them to get better on first down yeah certainly not what they were looking for there out of the opening play of this drive from the 22 here's second and eight off the play fake Daniels this pass H in by doson and able to break one tackle but then quickly brought down but a nice little [Applause] gain well they've already allowed three sacks in this first half now a holding penalty so I think drastic measures had to be taken right the regular way was not working he was getting hit almost every snap it felt like they had to try and keep him upright a second down pass play there but it's incomplete they've given him some different looks here defensively in the early going he's only hit two of his first five passes with a big third down coming up he's hoping he's got a play dialed up that can take advantage of whatever the defense throws at him an incomplete pass on that last play and that means they'll need to come up with something here on third down operating from the gun Daniels and that ball incomplete nearly intercepted took a chance with that one it'll lead to a fourth down I know this offense was expecting to do big things but it certainly hasn't turned out that way at least not through the first three drives they're definitely going to have to put their heads together and start concocting some offense that'll move the ball down field and now the putter trese as he sends this one away away fair catch taken just inside the 40 yd line now the buccaneer offense set to take over again it's been a good first half so far they're up 14 to nothing points here that could really put them in command before intermission yeah and it's all well and good what they're seeing and how they're feeling right now but this is the NFL how many times have we watch 14 to nothing leads evaporate and quickly so how do have we seen them combat it continue to run your offense but don't back off at all don't start looking at the clock don't start thinking about hey just take care of the football keep attacking usually the best way to maintain control but now a throw on first down there but it's incomplete the defender certainly didn't forget about him leaking out of the back field there was a guy ready and waiting to pick him up in coverage and that throw had no [Applause] shot so after the incompletion on first now second and 10 [Applause] now [Applause] Mayfield looking for white on the Deep ball and that will be incomplete tried to dial up the long one way out there but it'll be third down a that's some good closing speed there defensively because that looked open for a minute that's great work with the ball in the air never gave up converged on his man and broke the play [Applause] up Mayfield looks to throw and he cannot avoid the pressure as the Washington pass rush gets home Jamon Davis drops him for a loss of 14 yds and it also brings up fourth down well that's what they have to do more of defensively not just getting sacks but have to keep getting in his face not let him get his feet set and deliver he's been carving them up previously yeah already has a couple of touchdown passes about time they put a few grass stains on that Jersey fourth down so Jake carda is out there first kick 47 this one looks good as well fielded just inside the 30 it's a 43 yd punt a return of five and it will be Washington football now with a first and 10 another Drive coming up for this Washington offense and they're in a bind early here down 14 nothing are you worried at this stage or still too early you're worried you're just trying not to transmit it to the rest of your team you want to make sure that they stay positive but at the same time you're wondering how are we going to move the football what do we have on this play sheet that can work Get Back to Basics is usually your answer and make sure you find the guy who can move the ball fastest for you if you just get it in his hands yeah still second quarter you get points on the board here I think you're feeling okay and good job of just fighting through one tackle there to pick up about three second down coming up defenses always talk about earning the right to rush the passer on third down and you know what offenses want win first down so that can set things up for themselves better and that wasn't helpful there not a big impact on first down to throw on second down Daniels looking for SS but it's intercepted picked off by Jamal Dean and he's able to get it back here to the 43 yd line well this is something we've seen before partner we've seen a defense bait a rookie pretend to leave a window open and then the defensive back jumped it as soon as the ball was released Big Time play they love taking advantage of the youngers and in this case it paid off well so out come the bucks now no points last time out they were forced to punt if you remember but no time to dwell on that they've still got the lead here and a chance to add to that here first and 10 as this new Drive starts [Applause] they run Straight Ahead here with white Jamon Davis there to bring him down absolutely love the effort there the ability to flow from his inside spot and stop that one to the line of scrimmage nice linebacker [Applause] play now second and nine Mayfield now and he's going to go down back near Midfield at the 49 donon Payne coming right up the gut gets in there for a loss of nine but found his way into the back field and he simply would not be denied well they say that life's all about opportunities and that holds true when you're playing defense as well how about him seeing that chance making the most of it did a great job of wrapping him up and bringing him down under pressure again and down he goes again dorant Armstrong providing a little Deja Vu backto back sacks and now they're staring at a fourth and long okay I'm not sure you could actually draw a better pass rush than that one right there nowhere to go outside he had to keep backing up and backing up and backing up eventually dropped for a huge loss [Applause] Jake carda sent on now to punt this [Applause] away and this will be taken at the 13 it'll be a 47 yd punt with a net of 40 following a seven yd return and it will be first and 10 as they take over now we get another look at Washington on offense still early in this one Charles but the last time this offense was out there they threw their first interception in the ball game so trying to avoid repeating that mistake here on this drive and to put a positive spin on it at least it happened in the first half and not in a close game in the fourth quarter but you're absolutely right partner one of the last things this offensive quarterback wants to witness again in this game kind of an obvious question Charles but anything you try to avoid after your first pick or you say it's one interception we're still in the first half I'm going to do the same thing I think you want to avoid playing scared you know and and put it into the mind of the quarterback that you've lost confidence in him make sure you get some throws that he's going to be able to complete make him feel good about himself and continue to run your offense on second down another shot for Robinson only a couple there as he'll be brought down about the 28 and the big fell stuffed that one up in a big way I think doubling him has to be a priority because you can't move up to the next level if you don't take care of him first this offense so far on third down 0 for three to this point they could use a conversion this time it's third and three and a big loss here as he's taken down kijah cany that is now two sacks for him here in this first half so that now four first half sacks this pass rush has been unrelenting and partner you hear that sound of paper being ripped to shreds that's the game plan that they've had so far because they've got to say to themselves right now we have to do something differently TR way on fourth down is sent out to punt averaging over 50 yds a punt so far as this one's away that'll be a 44 yd boot just a yard on the return as he's covered up quickly and out will come the offense as they take over and Tampa Bay trots out there now if you're a fan of punting and I know that not many people are but this game kind of turning into one for you well it's okay if it's a skills contest right we're really into it then but not during the course of an actual game this has turned into a field position game though sometimes a better punter may actually determine the outcome they begin the drive on the ground it's white and strong run that time as he's across Midfield and down to the 43 15 yds is the pickup there in the drive starting very nicely first down well CD a lot of times like to separate speed and quickness and they've got a back that's both we know that he's fasten in the open field but man his first step is so quick too it is something isn't it because you think of that type of speed getting to the perimeter and turning up field but also when you run those inside runs he can get into the secondary so fast the linebacker don't have a chance to react Nothing Fancy on first down but a very consistent type of a play hit that slant a lot of people call it an extension of the running game and it can be if that pass is completed cuz you hit a guy on the run like that you often can go for big yardage sets him up nicely for second down staying ahead of schedule and he'll be brought down at the 27 yd line seven yards there and a first down and they really needed to get something going didn't they they had punted on the last two possessions the running game starting to come to the front for them providing a nice pickup there to keep this drive going two minutes to play first half it's 14 to [Applause] nothing Mayfield now looking to throw on first down that is caught it's Chris Godwin and in for the Buccaneers touchdown Chris Godwin 27 yds and the Bucks take a three touchdown lead boy so if you are scoring at home Charles and God bless you if you are but that's now three drives and three touchdowns so in a baseball game wouldn't that wreak havoc on your scorecard yes I mean with all the action that's happening now how they got here whatever cliche you want to bring into it they're locked into a Groove they're clicking on all ERS bottom line they're piling up the points extra point by mlin is up and good and that makes the score 21 to him [Applause] it baby let's be smart let's ball following the touchdown here's mcgoffin to kick off and they'll put up the stop sign there as his guys will get it at the 25 and here we go on the next drive for Washington well CD you kind of feel like they're in a bit of a danger zone right here cuz now you're down three scores and I know we're in the first half but the way this offense hasn't been able to generate anything you feel like they probably need to get something going on this drive right yeah and sometimes I overuse that this is an important possession but I think this has to be a possession where they come up with an answer because only a few teams in league history have ever come back from a four score deficit and if they don't score here that's what they could be facing the next time they get the ball that's good the completion there for seven yds and it's second down y now you've got to hustle your guys to the line and get them set looking to throw on second down Daniels he'll drop this one off to atler and he gets this up across the 35 before he's out of bounds a gain of five good enough for the first down when you're struggling on offense you're looking for anything possible to get you going sometimes you do it like basketball teams that don't normally press you put a press on bring people to life make a move a little bit quicker maybe that'll help them as they head towards the half now a throw left sideline here is complete and he's able to get this one out closer to Midfield across the 45 so the completion results there in nine yds and that'll give him a short yardage situation here for second down back to throw again yet again it's mclen and mclen going to pick up a Commander's first down as he'll get this down to the 47 yd line it's a pickup of six this has to go down as one of the simpler routes in the Playbook but oh so effective nice completion there keeps the sticks moving this offense finding its legs now here's a another first and 10 buying time to his left and Washington now going to use the first of their three timeouts as the clock shows 50 seconds to play here in half number one second and seven right go back to throw Daniels oh hit as he throws there incomplete they're putting together a drive here in the final minutes of the half but the coverage has been tight all game long and they certainly want to keep them off the scoreboard here here's play number here on this operating from the gun Daniels this to mclen out on the left side call it a gain of three on the play and that's going to bring up a fourth down timing is so important on a route like this because he's going to line up out right then cut straight across the field I think the ball might have come out a count or two too late because by the time he was able to secure it not much of a chance to turn it up field and look at this he's going to keep it and he will not even make it back to the line of scrimmage a little trickeration there but it doesn't fool this defense and the Buccaneers defense holds and they get the football back fourth and short in this part of the field you just know the Special Teams coordinator was rallying the team saying watch the fake watch the fake but Brandon don't they usually say that on every punting situation oh yeah they can be up 40 in the fourth quarter that's their job they scream that every time and this time though though his team locked in and they were well aware that it truly was a situation that they could fake it and they were ready for it and stopped it they'll start the drive with a give to White and a pretty good burst there as he'll get this across Midfield and down to the 46 and with just 1 second remaining in the first half they'll call the timeout [Applause] they go right back to White here on first down and he's going to be taken down here as that will lead us to the end of the first half of play so we reach halftime and what's been a fairly one-sided game so far as we'll send you down the coast now to Orlando that's where we find Jonathan Coachman ready with our EA Sports half this was an extremely one-sided first half one team showed up ready to go the other's been in a days thus far but there's still plenty of time left for this one to tighten up significantly all right coach thank you and we welcome everyone back for quarter number three the bucks with a lead and they'll get the football first as the second half is underway away no run back here to begin the half and we will start at the 25 yd line out come the Buccaneers they'll have it first to start the third quarter now Mayfield in the come up on First and 10 at their 25 yd line they'll start here with a hand off to White oh he breaks a tackle and he's got an alley and he gets this one just shy of the 40 down at the 39 62 yards rushing for him now on what was his 10th carry of the ball game most of their damage has been done through the air I mean they've rung the BT three times with passing touchdowns but guess what ground game has not been neglected nice little burst right there they stay on the ground with white and the big boys up front they're going to stop him right at the [Applause] line so they sight the Right Guard this time with a holding penalty and so many different assignments you can have at that position and sometimes you might just be a step too late and have to grab and hold on and now Mayfield up the bootle that'll be taken in downfield by Godwin a big play that time for Tampa Bay 45 yds everything's been going right here in this one this offense they've been in complete control from the outset and here's another big play these kind of routes have been open all game long and they continue to take advantage are terrible seriously so now then the big play has him all the way inside the 30 now first and 10 Mayfield over the middle complete that's Evans and he'll go down right on the edge of the Red Zone following a pick up of about seven or eight here's second and three playaction now here's Mayfield firing quickly here and that's complete seven yards there and a first down whatever the discussions were at halftime to try to slow down this offense it has not worked to this point yeah have a vision right now of everything that was discussed at the half just being torn in shreds or being erased off of the Microsoft Surface tablets because none of it is working they are really locked in on offense they'll try the right side here with white and power running here down to the 6yd line a solid run on first down gain of seven leaves him with a second and three well no matter how they phrase it staying on schedule staying ahead of the sticks whatever you want to call it seven yards on first down that fits the bill from the six now on second and three white he'll try the left side and not a whole lot there he does get a couple take it from the five down to the three defensively we always know that he is tough in run support and I think the way that he gets there is he understands what an offense is going to do before the ball's even snapped a great job of scouting prior to the game then reading reacting and taking the right path to the ball carrier third and short yardage Mayfield pass taken in by his big tight end touchdown Cade auton two catches two touchdowns here so far and the Bucks take the opening kickoff of the third quarter and drive right down the field to extend their lead well partner he has carried them in this ball game throwing the football all four touchdowns through the air and that's really helped them get this nice lead and I know it's a team game but right now he is truly the focal point every touchdown his team has so far has been the result of his arm how about him throwing it downfield creating big plays I don't know how you slow him down unless you can make him uncomfortable in the [Applause] [Applause] [Music] pocket following the touchdown here's glofin to kick off and he'll elect not to return this one so they'll bring it out to the 25 on the Touchback first possession of the second half now for Washington a CD they certainly know the hole that they face as they begin the second half they have to do what precious few teams have done in NFL history that's try to come back from a four possession deficit and partner you know as that team Gathers they're saying to each other you never say never right because if you're on an NFL roster that's how you have to think you can always come back and win a ball game and let's face it we saw a certain Super Bowl a 25-point lead late that wasn't enough to put someone away but that being said this task is near impossible let's face it and bottom line is it officially becomes impossible if this possession is an empty one they'll operate from the 32 yd line line here second and three on the counter this is Robinson and bulldozing his way through and this is going to be a commander first out as the tackle made at about the 43 yd line despite the score despite the deficit no quitting this guy he's running angry running through arm tackles he wants to change what that scoreboard is saying on First and 10 it's Robinson and he's across the 45 it'll be second down give credit to the defense for stringing that play out and they gave up no cut back angle you know he was trying to Dart through no place for him to go a nice job there only giving up a three- yd gain here's second and seven out of the gun Eckler running it oh what a move and a good run here as he'll Rumble all the way down to the 40 yd line it'll go as a pick up of 14 and a Washington first down not too shabby for his first Carry of the game that's exactly what most teams are looking for a really good change of pace back still in search of their first touchdown of the game but they're on the Move first and 10 now they'll switch it up here and look to throw [Music] man open is Robinson and he gets this one inside the 15 just a yard or two shy of the 10 that's good for 28 yds it's taking a while for this offense to get going a little creaky at the start but they're oiled up now a nice throw there and they're really putting together a good drive on first down Daniels and he short arms that one just a bid it's low and incomplete nowadays quarterbacks don't mind throwing into coverage because of the confidence they have in their receivers to come down with the ball but sometimes you have to be careful you don't get too confident and throw an interception in the third quarter here in DC a second and 10 UPC coming back to the ground with Robinson and he stopped immediately there officially nothing on that one no gain so their left was still 10 to go on third down looked like he was trying to bounce it outside but no success yeah sometimes you got to just figure out where you're going to go and sometimes you just have to take it to another spot and trying to get it outside the defensive Pursuit was there and just ran him [Applause] down now throwing on third down there but he cannot connect the Bucks defense stiffens and pushes this to fourth down a misconnection there he's hit on just 50% of his passes thus far that's not where you want to be now you see the evolution of the game you go back to the quarterbacks of old 50% would be terrific CU they threw the ball downfield almost every time they threw it now with a short passing game you should be above 60% just to be in the average range I'm kind of surprised by that that they kick the field goal I guess you get some points but this deficit third quarter I don't know yeah I don't either yeah I'm with you on that one when you're down that much kicking a field goal does it feel a little bit maybe waving the white flag and just want to get out of here yeah I I think you got to go ahead and try and get some bigger points on the board baby turn it up anytime that ball come to kick team out there for the commanders as they send this one away and not much happening on the return as he'll get this to about the 23 Baker Mayfield leading the buccaneer offense out for another series he continues to just torch this defense perfect on the last Drive including his fourth touchdown pass of the game similar to hitters that are in that great zone in baseball and they say the ball looks bigger when it's approaching the plate and they're smacking it around I think for him the windows to throw into are wide open doesn't matter whether they're tight or not he feels like it's wide open puts it in there four touchdown passes he thinks he's going to throw a whole lot more before this one's over a running play on first down and it turns into a fight just to get back to the line of scrimmage delayed give there out of the gun defense was ready yeah and I'm not a big fan of a draw play out of the shotgun formation because the quarterback's not having much action where he's getting away from the line of scrimmage he's catching the football making a little head fake and then handing it off you should be able to read it as they did there opting to run again here with white and not much there maybe a yard up to the [Applause] 24 here's third and nine Mayfield to throw it he's got his Target that's complete and he is is going to have a box first down as they're able to get the third down conversion well I certainly don't want to pile on but this defense has just now been up to the challenge in this game and this continues as we see here coverage not been very good soft in spots there's an easy throw and catch for another first down under a minute to go in this third quarter as they come up first and 10 throwing Mayfield hton brings it in over the middle and he'll be taken down but not before he gets into enemy territory 11 more yards that go around a first down as well and if anyone thinks they're just going to tuck their horns in and pull back off the throttle a little bit you can forget it even with this big third quarter lead I think this team's going to continue to take their shots downfield and there's another [Applause] completion throwing on first down but this one winds up to be incomplete this could be the start of a nice stand from this defense now after getting walked backwards on this drive come through with another one here and you have them staring at a third and long and that puts the defense in position to dictate to the offense an incomplete pass on first down that leads to a second and 10 they'll throw again here's Mayfield that's taken in by Palmer and he'll go down and that will do it for the third quarter of of action so they'll get a little extra time to come up with this third down play as we've played three quarters we'll return with more after this you're watching the NFL on EA Sports back now at FedEx Field a lot of folks starting to make their way to the parking lot their guys Trail big here to begin quarter number four here's the seventh play of this drive this is third and four now a give up the middle this is white and he'll lose yardage on the play back at the 45 yd line he lost two and it brings up fourth sometimes I think these defensive tackles get a little bit of a bum WP we just see them as big guys that eat up blockers for others to make tackles often times they're quicker than they get credit for and this time he uses quickness to make a play Here Comes the Buccaneers punter now as he'll putt it away for the fourth time today and this will be out of bounds now it's a question of where they'll mark it and they'll say it crosses at the 11 yd line the Washington offense set to take over we said it at halftime that they would need a nearly perfect second half to erase that deficit that they were facing CD but unfortunately the second half has pretty much been a carbon copy of the first yeah that early lead was almost insurmountable the way their opponent was playing and partner they do have some good news though this one is getting close to being over and they can try and hit the reset button starting tomorrow and he'll protect himself at the end here as he winds up getting pretty decent yardage he'll get eight on the scramble there it'll be second and a couple I do think it's fair to say they were caught off guard a little bit when he decided not to throw it on first down but give them credit they recovered in time to deny him the first down yardage but it's only second and short so that run is still likely to lead to a new set of downs a throw on the quick slant going to be complete and he works it across the 25 before being tackled and the quick slant gets exactly 10 and by the nose of the football they've got a first down operating from the gun Daniels a throw here right sideline and Falls incomplete and that's another play that's painted the picture of this game overall it's been a blowout it's been continually fueled by big turnovers and stops for one side and an inability to advance the ball from the other so now they'll come up on second and 10 once again from the 28 looking to throw Daniels looking middle and it's incomplete at this point in the game they've got to continue to try anything they can they're still working at it even though this one feels like a lost [Music] cause the offense on third down they're struggling 0 for six thus far this is third and 10 now meanwhile a pass that should have been intercepted but it winds up falling incomplete I know we spent a lot of time talking about how the defensive backs read routes and make plays on the football how about a good linebacker feeling the route seeing the quarterback jumps the play and knocks It Away really well done as expected they're going for it to keep the drive alive work in the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and this is going to wind up working out just fine as he'll have a Washington first down and an exhale there as they convert on Fourth and with this game well in hand perhaps we are seeing the coverage lighten up a little bit as they got burned there a bit for a first down well we certainly know the coach isn't happy along the sideline cuz he certainly wants him to finish this one out the way they started it he doesn't want to give up any soft completions no late points he wants his lead to stay right where it is and down he goes at the 49 a three yd pickup good reactions there defensively that screen was a little slow and developing and they shut that one down with little gain they'll come up second and seven again he'll drop to throw he completes this one to Terry mclen and this is going to lead to another first down as the tackle made at the Bucks 34 yd line a new set of downs after a strong pick up of 16 yds well this game was decided a while ago and that completion there it's going to artificially inflate his passing numbers so right now the only one really applauding probably his agent as he thinks about angling for a new contract and now a throw on first down there but it's incomplete now the trials and tribulations of being a quarterback in this league it's tough it's got to be wearing on him out there well he has been sacked a number of times he had an interception so I'm going to give him a sco of credit for hanging in there and trying to make something happen despite the amount of pressure he's been under this entire game they'll look to throw again here's a screen for Robinson and he takes this just a few yards shy of the Red Zone before going out the Washington passing game dialed in now it's a first down and when you're throwing the ball downfield really well like they have been on this drive it's really a nice time to work one of the screen plays in one of my favorite play Callers In the game has always told me he starts every game with 10 to 12 screens because if he starts feeling the pressure from the defense he uses their aggressiveness against them throwing there but this pass is going to wind up incomplete they had their backs up against the wall a little bit and they come through by forcing an incompletion now they've got to continue to ratchet up the intensity a couple of more times and get off the field before giving up any more yardage after the incomplete pass here now is second and 10 they'll stick with a passing game as he looks to throw nowhere to turn this time and he goes down sacked back at the 29 credit the sack to V DEA and you hate to say it with a rookie quarterback he's done some good things but overall looked a little bit overwhelmed back there hasn't he he certainly has but in his defense he hasn't had a lot of time to throw the football you like the way I said that in his defense in his defense I got it you see what I did there he needs better protection that's for sure call it no gain there and it leads to a fourth down that time on the outside pretty nice job as a cornerback to shed any wouldbe blockers and make the tackle and think about the praise we're giving him what do coaches a give him but how about the respect he gets from his teammates to be a complete Corner who doesn't just cover receivers but also tackles ball carriers all right they're going to try and keep hope alive here on fourth down they're going for it got to try it here he's back to throw that's and he bats it away and it falls down incomplete Washington goes for it but it does not pan out and this long drive is going to wind up yielding nothing the attention shifting back to Chris godwood and the rest of the Tampa offense they might want to mix something up defensively cuz he's been shredding them a bit hasn't he that he has and even with all the changes that you know are going on on the defensive side of the ball he's still finding ways to get open finding the right spots and the delivery has been pretty good too as over 100 yards has the one touchdown score to this point they start to drive with white this will be stopped about two yds shy of the marker 8yd gain second and two Brandon I've got to think this offensive line has got some Smiles on its faces and and I know it sounds crazy but they practiced for this back in training camp they knew they'd be in situations where it' be extra defenders in the Box coming after them trying to keep them from locking down a game right now they want to show the world they're up to the challenge and able to get this one across the 45 before he's brought down he's been big two touchdowns earlier now he's got a first down here there's a beautiful throw there and he's been Sensational the entire game moving it around spreading it hitting the right guys and look under normal situations partner I would expect him to come out of the game now they've got it in hand but you and I have been around this league a long time and every time we ask head coaches about it hey why don't you take your quarterback out when the game's in hand they just kind of give us that look like that's what he's paid to do so it's a very unusual situation I'd want him out they tend to leave him in from just shy of Midfield here's a second and eight [Applause] they keep it on the ground wi again and they get him behind the line so that short gain on first down quickly negated they give those two yards right back and now they're looking at a third and 10 they have three tight ends in that formation that's almost a universal sign that they're planning to run the football but how about the defense there they met force with force and caused a stack up behind the line of scrimmage and threw him for a loss so it's Buccaneer football as we welcome you back they've got a third down now as they look for one more first down to help salt this one [Music] away able to find the open man that's complete and they're going to have another first down here as the tackle made at Washington's 31 yd line and a nice gain of 21 yards he's been the go-to guy they needed a big play there on third down went his way it worked out doesn't matter whether they scouted it or that they think he's going to get the ball he has a knack for finding his way open and completing the connection line of scrimmage the 31 now on First and 10 white running to the left to the 27 yd line I like the call there because that was one to take time off the clock and get them closer to getting out of here with a W in the mind of the play caller all you want to hear is tick tick tick what second down and six [Applause] now throw right side taken in by Godwin and he's going to be taken down right at the 10 yd line partner I know we're still in the afternoon slate here some Prime Time game still on the docket but it's going to be tough to Top This effort what an offensive performance we have seen they have been Unstoppable from the moment we began this game and they're not holding back they're still throwing the football here in the fourth they certainly are and let me tell you something if you're old school you don't like this at all but in today's football you just go ahead and savor it watch a team execute at a high level doesn't matter what the scoreboard says so time has run out on what will be a Tampa Bay Victory and we talked so much about the turnover battle determining who wins and who loses this game no exception they didn't turn the ball over at all at all and they go on to Victory they look like a smooth operation in this one didn't they because you look at every facet of the game they handled their business offense took care of the football converted it into points defense took the ball away gave it back to the offense special teams right there with them that's the type of game a coach is going to really love and value and when they show the film they have to be careful not to give out too many Kudos and kill their motivation going forward and for Charles Davis and our entire crew here at EA Sports I'm
