welcome to the swamp the giant that the headball coach awakened one that thrived in urban renewal and now one where only the Gators Get Out Alive there's nothing quite like a great rivalry match up in college football the bitterness the intensity the lifetime of memories that will come as a result of what we're about to see in this one as we'll see the number team in the country the Miami Hurricanes taking on a team from the SEC the flors for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started and the canes will kick it away first here's the return from inside his 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 so the Florida Gator defense will get the first crack at it here and the adrenaline is pumping on overdrive in games like this guys and it's crucial to get your emotions under control no doubt in rivalry games you've got to limit the mental errors and you've got to limit the penalties because those will kill you p and you got to come out under control it means so much we know that the fans are all talking about it but it's just football we'll see if they can dig one up that goes forward this time on second down from the 18 he'll do it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well they're trying to go option but the linebacker shows his openfield tackling ability and also was recognition he expected the quarterback to keep it went after and was able to make the tackle for loss you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long inside their own 20 to the air it's MERS he unleashes a long one holds it in on the left and he's running in the open and he'll run it into the end zone touchdown Florida and it feels good to land that first big punch against a rival doesn't it no doubt in a game like this too you just want to be executing at a high level early so David that's got to feel great getting on the board first settles everyone down all the nerves all the emotion of this rivalry game now everybody can kind of settle in because you know you already got a touchdown on the board lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra makes it seven nothing quick strike offense on that three play scoring drive and they finish it off with a cating big play 83 yard on the touchdown pass kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so the Miami Hurricane offense takes the field and they'll have their first possession and there's no doubt guys we will be focused on these two star Playmakers on the outside I'm curious to see how much man coverage we're going to see today I don't know if either of these defenses is confident enough to go monoo with these two dudes on the field they're two of the best in the nation these cornerbacks aren't looking for manto man coverage I can promise you that like give me some help over here but we're going to see some split screens and we're going to see who had more catches who had more yards we're definitely going to be breaking that down this game this crowd full throat spitting the E drums and letting him know it's going to be a long day right through his hands and incomplete and he'll want that one back it'll be third down the biggest lie college football coaches tell is nameless faceless opponent David game like this you know their name and you know their face you know him well and it does mean just a little bit more because it's bragging right the rivalries matter so much all throughout the year all the fans talking about this game in particular that's why it means more and that's why these players will be jacked out of their minds well no real mystery there and I think this coaching staff has a lot of confidence in their offensive line to get the push needed to give that back just a big enough crease to fall forward and get the first and it's so hard my room for error is so small when I'm the defensive line like I got to get off the ball as fast I can try to get some form of penetration just stop that ball from going little South they don't do it there and they give up the first down this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last after picking up a couple at second and eight now the play fake fires left a beautifully placed ball to the outside and the tow drag for the big pickup the kanes build their program around Playmakers like that they do Ree and and speed on the outside makes everybody so much better finding those home run hitters those Playmakers those those are the guys when Miami's rolling those are the guys they're finding touch pass on the Jet Sweep and stuffed by that big defensive tackle up front really good job by the defense seeing it and going and getting it nice job understanding the touch pass it could happen those guys go Motion man I got to understand sa's got to see that start flying down getting ready to play that nice job by the defense being ready for that play this offense has a second down play looking for a man it's Ward and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack playaction success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big play seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down looking down field and he needs a bunch a little screen to the running back they play that screen nicely he tried to find his way to the marker but it'll be fourth down you got to love that on defense one of the most critical statistics out there is how do you play on third down how do you prevent the opponent from keeping drives alive right there tackling the catch you gave up the completion whoop youdo you set up fourth and long you're going to get the ball back go get some water and C first down for this offense [Applause] he's looking to throw it he finds his man they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker it's early in the game and as offenses try to get their Rhythm these easy completions are very important because that's what helps you get your feet underneath you as an offense and as a unit and hopefully as this game goes on they'll be able to rev up and get more aggressive taking shots off to Johnson they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense fairly manageable distance here on third down from the 27 scanning the field it's Merz just threw that one away to avoid disaster well it's third and short they're throwing for it they just can't come up with that one setting up a big decision now for the head coach on fourth down the gator will send out the punt unit they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 here comes the Kane offense looking to gather a little more strength they'll ride the running back and leave it with him not a whole lot of room there three yard maybe second and seven oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack got three on first down at second and seven he'll pull it on the read and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down there's an example of the offense taking advantage of all the attention the defense is giving this outstanding running back remember he's one of the best in the game they're expecting him to get the football so the quarterback says you know what I'll just keep it no one's keying on me I'm going to get up field and find an explosive play from the gun they'll try to impose their running game at the 40 there he goes oh what a big play for this offense as they get it to the 33 yd line defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats because he is not easy to bring down and the hurricanes have it with a first and [Applause] 10 they're going to ride this running back no he just flat R over it he stopped just a chain link or two away from the first down and sets them up beautifully here and that would be the definition of first down success putting yourself in a good position it's second and inches I can do whatever I want next I can take a shot down the field I can run the football and get a new set of downs like nice first down execution from the gun the G looking for room and he's to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down just moving those chains the way Frank Gore did back in the day Frank Gore Willis mcah Edan James so many Elite backs in Miami history finding that guy that you can give the ball to that's reliable important part of the Kane's tradition looking to move it through the air got his and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land I know a lot of people are going to look at that play and say man that was a bad play didn't gain any yards but that could be the offense maybe setting something up the play caller is going to remember that last play he's going to remember how the defense reacted to it made a quick tackle they might pump that throw and then hit another player vertically down the field for an explosive play down the line just keep that in mind and when you play defensive end it's all about getting off the football you can tell gets off the football really fast Gets In The Back Field gets the running back would hit him what a play by the defensive end ball spotted at the 27 they're facing a third and long to try to keep their hopes of a touchdown alive looking down field it's Ward trying to get to him didn't have anything working and just had to throw it away on third down nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long and field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball in and on fourth down they'll try to put three on the board and he'll need to curl this one in from 44 yards out on the right hatch between the uprights it's good after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to [Applause] go from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 the gator sending the offense back to work they'll give it to Johnson keeps it moving for a three yd gain to the 24 and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger runs after the three yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven quarterback on the keeper and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go we had a barn burner the last time these two teams played and no reason to expect anything else between these two bitter Rivals attention to detail and I think the sense of urgency David in a game like this just goes way up and I think managing the emotions in these type of games you you know last year was a classic now you're trying to form this year's identity of this team and go out and get a win in a big time rivalry game a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down when you're a playmaker like this guy is your coaches are going to dial up plays intended for you especially on third down that's what you saw in that last play there was no question where the quarterback was going with that football all week long they decided on the biggest Downs of this game we're going to Target our best player and we're going to make sure that he gets looks it doesn't matter what the coverage is and you saw it right there and there nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes often times with play action you're asking the quarterback to hold on to the ball a bit longer and you're asking this offensive line to hold up and pass Pro a bit longer against this athletic front seven on defense it's going to be tough after the big first down sack it's second down he'll try to pop the draw that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys and they can't make the connection on third down every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success the Gators will line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away no return coming here as he signals for the catch and makes it right around the 30 yd line and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field dbe they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they moved the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that here got stuffed on first down second and 10 looking for a physical attack from the gun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple I love this linebacker because he's able to dissect what's happening in front of him and he reacts downhill uses his speed to get to the line of scrimmage and create the negative play third down conversions always a huge St and they've got a third and long from the 27 looking to pass it's Ward they'll run the screen defense was not fooled by that screen to the back and they'll stop him short of the marker it'll be fourth down he just didn't have a chance to get loose and make his way to that first down marker and I think fans get upset sometimes like run your route past the sticks so we get the first down but nice job by the defense understanding where the sticks were and forcing the fourth down fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way no return coming he'll call for the fair catch Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one and David to me that starts with being the more physical team I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute didn't connect last time let's see if they throw it again on second down they'll go to the air unloads to the wide out and he throws down the gut of the defense it's incomplete now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass right down the middle it's caught down field and they'll pick up the first down and Mark it at the 47 defens is throughout the week study every third down situation you got to be ready for what they do how they do it and then be able to adjust great job by the offense so far having success and the gator have it with a first and 10 [Applause] got it behind the line it's Wilson the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's in completion they lost yardage well that receiver's looking at his teammates like guys what's up you're not going to block for me on the screen seriously I just lost yards on a screen play how does that happen after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 looking to throw it again quickly out to the tight end really confident throw catch there big pick up and they have a first down and that's why QBs love their tight ends so much right especially when they're athletic because they make short throws turn into long games because of his ability after the catch it's so unique and special he is dominant in this offense the Gators have their offense in high gear they'll run it to the right Bulls his way forward and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play yeah this staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting him drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three looking to throw it's Ms feeling some heat that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble we're already in the first quarter but already you get the this could be a long day for this QB he's already been sacked he gets hit right there on the incomplete throw they've got to find a way to do a better job up front of protecting this guy or it's going to be difficult to put up points on Third and short the run and looking for the first down wrestled to the ground after picking up the first down all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down [Applause] now on the move at the 28 yd line on first [Applause] down they'll ride the hot hand the ball pops out oh look what I found the offense keeps it I don't know if it was luck or aggression or just a fortuitous balance but at least they've got the ball back one thing I do know ree this running back has got to do a better job with ball secured cannot turn the football over and expect to win this game they're very lucky they were able to jum on top of that one TR play action H his tight end they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down and guys how many first downs is that just on this drive alone I mean this defense allows one or two more drives like this and they're going to be gased by the third quarter now down to the 12 yd line it's first down in the red area it's Johnson and they'll make the Stop and we are headed to the end of the first period we've come to the end of the quarter and it's p on top we've played one before we move on let's have a look at the stats [Applause] and they've swapped into the field and we'll get it going in the second going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone they feed him again head to the end zone can't quite cross the plane to get the six but they'll have the first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of downs instead of trying to make those big touchdown runs he's knock down in the back field he'll lose a couple so on offense you've got to find a way to put six up on the board you know that in this game field goals may not get it done so big time players make big plays in big games who can you rely on right now to get you a touchdown can the D deny them on second and goal the GI they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one man and that's a frustrating play when you go in reverse near the goal line go too situations Palmer you got to get those positive yards you can't go backwards if you're trying to get a touchdown you know I'm trusting in my quarterback here to make the right decision looks like we're going to have to throw it right but if it's not open just throw this thing away you don't want to a sack lose extra yardage here justs it in in the end zone touchdown Gator defense has to be better on the back end they knew this offense was going to come out and they were going to challenge them they were going to try to push the ball vertically down the field they've now given updown passes in this game theyve got to up their in the back half ready to try the point after and the extra point makes it 143 he held the ball for 15 plays on that touchdown drive and they CA the drive with a four yd touchdown pass kickoff team out there and ready to [Applause] go looking for an alley from inside his own 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength they've been pretty much stifled on offense so far David only able to muster three points in their previous three drives and you got to find a way to open this up and create in play the passing game is obviously the easiest way Jesse put more speed on the field find those guys down the field you know they're frustrated too because they felt like there were some matchups they could take advantage of to get some points on the board early in this one they just haven't been able to connect on those opportunities but I like David's idea maybe move some guys around and see if you can create some better one-on-one matchups I think the OC would have been really happy with a small game and and an easier third down but how about the effort by the running back to get this close a first down marker tried to get to it got close enough now where it's an easy situation on third down and shoot and I got fourth down in my pocket if I want to go for it on Third and short they keep it on the ground here they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and the defense was locked in you could tell they saw it they reacted right away got the running back on the ground immediately and the kanes will try to pin them back with the [Applause] punt on the return it's Hawkins little pressure on the coverage team there and they'll stop him at the 47 yd line the gator sending the offense back to work Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one dve we'll see what they can here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it [Applause] going now from the 40 it's first and 10 from the gun they'll give it on the inside One Step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground the Run game just has not been working for this all game long saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down they'll leave it with him and the defense makes the stop after a minimal gain I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break and turn those types of plays into home runs now on third down for this offense back to pass it's Ms can't make the catch on third down and the rarest of drops for this guy yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board here comes the field goal unit as they'll try to take the three and he's going to have to get into this football this is a 53 yd attempt and it's no good after the Miss still an 11o game guys and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field last time David it was one two three kick yeah last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable and the pressure gets to him down goes to quarterback Gator fans love to see their teams light up the scoreboard but they'll take the defense bringing the heat too and I think that was a staple re back in the day you had great offenses for Florida but the teams that really had the most success and they reached the highest mountain tops they had great defense to go with it this defense playing well that sack gets this offense behind the chains it's second down little touch pass to the receiver get him on the ground after a four yd run out to the 31 Deb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down looking to throw needs a chunk play he's got an open man and that is a Nifty bit of navigation to get through that traffic and get the first down well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting to his progression to the ground with the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a of three that linebacker saw the express lane right to the ball carry and a great job by the defensive line getting some making resources line back last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 rides to the back and he find some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him not a huge game but those run plays add up they make you tackle the back every single play physically you have to get some guy on the ground it takes its toll throughout a fourth quarter game and that last run leaves him with a third down will they keep it on the ground looking to throw it's Ward makes the grab on the left now well within Striking Distance as that third down play gets him a first at the 29 third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most no it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and and when my gu's better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you just a short pass to the tight end and good coverage by the defense just a short game a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do wants to fire on second down catch in the middle it's a Royo and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down really nice job there by the quarterback understanding it's Blitz and not just that it's Blitz but knowing whether it's man coverage or Zone coverage behind the blitz you still got to know where your is going to be based on what the defense is doing in the back end and he add the answer to the test right there defense there to stop him after he picked up a yard balls at the 17 they're strong and they're SC defensive tackles they're SC there's such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly quickly complete and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play nice job defense you always hear people talk about tackling the catch you saw it right there there was nowhere for that receiver to go once he had possession as a result no game third down in this crowd is tearing the lid off this place to the air it's Ward got his man and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that they allowed the completion but this defense was swarming to keep them away from that first down line yeah and you allow completions in those third down situations underneath the sticks and you come up and rally and everybody flies to the football that's great execution by this defense and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive [Applause] so they were able to put up a three spot on that last Drive now the kickoff team out there as they prepare to put boot to leather on the run from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball down the field and miss the field goal David you know what don't leave it up to Kickers execute better offensively I think you move the ball nice you got to keep that in mind but Palmer I think stay aggressive and don't settle for field goals yeah because you got to know there's just no margin for error right now you just have got to be able to execute at a higher level after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 out of the gun the give to the back gets it out to the 20 after a pick up of four and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five six yd gains early turn into 20 30 40 yard gains later really wear down defenses and they test their physicality they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down third and long situations are really hard to convert the defense knows it's going to be pass the pass rushers are getting up field you're under pressure you don't have timing and as a result now fourth down the gator will punt this one away he's got great speed he was working his way on the return toward Midfield they'll stop him at the 46 here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength they'll run it from the gun really nice stop there from this senior leader all right the here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this [Applause] point didn't get much on first down it's second and n martinez on the carry tried to fight his way through that tackle but he's brought down awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football better find the earplugged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here what a good run there he has enough for the first down just a great job by the quarterback the running back the offensive line sneaky little Devils what do they do make it look like pass sneak in the Run catch you off guard great call by the offense the Hurricanes will have it first and 10 pre snap motion quarterback trying to get a read quick pass on the jet motion inside the 30 and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play yeah and way to be creative way to get the ball in the perimeter really quickly get some speed outside all you got to do is secure that edge and you're just trying to get that first down nice job nice play call by the offense The KES are flying down the field they'll put the tight end in motion they'll run it in the Red Zone it's Fletcher made a little something out of that run he picked up a couple down to the 14 man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked [Applause] out going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down dropping back it's Ward and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical match up there third down [Applause] coming Bo they love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal on third third and long he's going to have to throw for it didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth down and the offense got themselves in a tough situation third and long so hard to execute especially when the field starts to shrink but the good news is they got a field goal in their back pocket so here comes the field goal unit they've been doing work today they've already made a couple and this one the upright so the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away after putting up a field goal let's see what the defense can do and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the gator sending the offense back to work the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no r that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive [Applause] momentum still at their own 20 after that last incompletion it's second and 10 couldn't connect on first down now back to the air this time it's he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down I like the slot receiver because he gives his quarterback a good option working the middle of the field he's a nice weapon in this offense so they're facing third and short from the 25 back to pass it's Ms makes his connection oh he's so hard to get on the ground down he's got room found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get it to him quickly the hard part now is running and tackling that guy not easy to do they used a chunk play across Midfield and they've got it first and 10 just outside the 40 fires the wide out makes a connection good execution they move the sticks and they've got it at the 33 well this offense told us coming in they were going to challenge this secondary early and often they were going to use their speed to their advantage and take advantage of this quarterback's touch and arm talent and they already in the second quarter they've got over 200 yards throwing from the 33 it's first and 10 quickly to the tight end and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle second down coming up he wants to throw it again and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep that's what I'm talking about that is how you close and when a guy's going to make a catch you make sure he doesn't physicality using your pads running through them and guess what not only this play does he feel it next time he tries to go over the middle or feels footsteps this will pay dividends coming after it no where to go with the ball and down he goes at the 39 well this is a quarterback who's not known for his running ability obviously we've seen him make some great throws but Mobility that's probably not on your bingo card and you saw it right there brought down for the sack and they're running out the kicker to give it a try he says he's got a big leg he's going to have to show it from 56 yard out oh that one will leave a mark no good still up by five after missing that has to put a little padding on it guys that's now the second Miss field goal for this guy and you have to wonder if the weather is playing a bit of a fact or not easy to kick in these kind of conditions with all this rain and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field in modern college football Jesse there's time there's an opportunity to attack and I like them being aggressive here too guys look they they practiced this all week long now you're in that situation to go out there have some fun and let it fly and defenses are taught to stay deep play prevent these situations so I think you could get a good chunk play and then possibly get a field goal to tack on before the half fires to the right he's got it there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a Little Closer from the 17 yd line it's first and 10 looking to pass inside the Red Zone intercepted bringing it back he's at the 50 inside the 30 he's at the 10 touchdown florid how about that D coming up with a play like that what about the from that defender on the return he's showing you Reese like listen it's not just wide receivers that can do that I can take this the house I got some moves watch this unbelievable job flipping the field off to score defense makes the huge plays and gets points out of it they'll try to add another to [Applause] lead and with the extra point they push the lead out a little [Applause] further so here comes the kickoff after the touchdown and the last thing you need right before the half is to give up a big return from inside the 15 chance for a good return able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 they'll come out and take a KN and that should send us to halftime that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin and our halim update thanks so much guys and I need not tell you rivalry games always bring out a ton of emotion and no surprised we saw just that in the first half today and we'd be remiss if we didn't start this halftime report by acknowledging the sparkling play of this tight end the guy's like an aircraft carrier out there as a blocker and then when he releases and shows off that speed and Route running he's almost unguardable got to believe he won't be able to go anywhere in this second half without someone attached to his hip that said let's get back to the field and our guys in the booth to see who comes out on top of this rivalry contest and the gator will boot it away to start the second [Applause] half from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 they'll open the second half on the ground picks his way and gets four out to the it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the productive first down play it's second and six right back to him on the ground and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this this defense great job a contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what happened there if every Journey begins with a step this offense needs to step into a third down conversion and then try to turn it into some scores and fast sends it down field and it's picked off got some room to Run's at the 30 he's at the 10 he'll go out of Bounds at the four yd line and he almost had a pick six man it's it's so frustrating as a coach because you go in the half and you're like listen this is what they've been doing this is what we're getting let's go out and execute and what do you do first drive you throw you throw an interception you turn the field position to the other side create momentum immediately this is an absolute disaster to start the second half the gator have it with a goal dropping back it's mer fires into the end zone can't make the grab as he was going for right there well that last incompletion is a good example of why your timing has to be so good as a quarterback because the windows they open and they close so quickly in this part of the field can the defense stop them again on second and goal they'll run the counter and he'll be stopped for No Gain still sitting at the three yd line and with the stuff there Jesse on second down this little third to midrange you got two downs what do you thinking here maybe getting your quarterback out on the perimeter and giving him a run pass option see if you can get the defense in a bind they'd love to make this short field payoff with a touchdown instead of settling for three but it is third and goal sopore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack and that's the thing about this defense yeah they may be losing the game right now but they've got difference makers on that side of the football they got guys that can step up like that create Havoc get a sack create negative plays they're going to need more of that here in the second half if they're going to win this game they'll try to salvage a field goal on this drive it's good he hit that one right down the middle and that will extend their lead even further [Music] so after the M field goal they'll kick it away and rely on their defense he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory forget that last pick you're dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind you some players can't do that real well and it leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it and move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws after a big Gainer on that first play now they can really go for it on First and 10 they'll turn to Martinez and you want to talk about G tackling everybody on the defense run to the ball didn't get much on first down it's second and N they'll give it to the back nice solid form tackle from this sophomore Here Comes his home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down power football with the Run they convert on third down as he gets it to the 46 yd line and they just kind of sneak that one in there as a defensive guy third and five plus I'm thinking pass they were thinking pass Palmer and they SLI the run in and it's so nice have this guy at running back two right because you could throw it to him on third down or hand it off and he's got the vision and the athleticism to go pick up that first keep the drive going from the shotgun the hand off to the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three you know the one thing you can say about this defense they pursue the football the first guy might miss the second guy might miss but there's going to be more and more hats flying to the ball carry you saw it on that play getting last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 out of the shotgun they go to the ground they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down they showed this run in the first half right you saw it they loaded up on this side ran the football had some success what do they do in the second half pull some guys run the counter the other direction to keep the defense off balance guys this offense is already reeling down multiple possessions really need to cash in on this Drive Martinez on the carry on the move at the 30 offenses gain momentum with third down conversions like that they've got it at the 25 well that's kind of the advantage of third and medium right is the defense you keep them guessing you can throw it you can run it that time they hand it off they pick it up and you can see the d drop back a little bit it creates a little bit of space the running back blasts through gets the first down to the air it's Ward takes the easy one to the back and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain well he made the grab but the doors closed quickly after that and I like this I want to find my running back but man he's got to do a little more damage after the catch I need I need a I need a spin move I need something where he can make that guy Miss and pick up a bunch of yards and maybe get a big play out of he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down you know as a defense you can have the right call and the right guy in the right spot but that guy's just too good and how about the running back on that play just making it happen breaking off the huge game it's tough to get these guys on the ground and the kanes have it in scoring position on first and [Applause] goal he's got the tight end touchdown Kan that is the ultimate grab and go for the score you know what methus lived 969 years he was born and died in the amount of time it took them to walk it down the field and score that touchdown that's just so frustrating play after play after play you line up you try to do your assignment and you fail and they cap it off with a touchdown oh methusa now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the P will draw them one point closer so it's a 77 yd touchdown drive and they cap things off with a nyd touchdown pass the kickoff team out there set to boot it away he'll start the return inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little empty and I think it's great to get points but the great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this drive you're absolutely right David generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see they can be a little bit more physical on this after the big play to start now they are on the move at their own [Applause] 45 want to throw on first down he's got his man good pick up there they'll move the chains in their set up at the 41 I tell you this slot receiver he really does give his quarterback a nice option runs really good routes he's got nice hands you saw it on that last play they have a first down at the 41 yd [Applause] line making sure they have good balance keeping it on the ground you see they need more runs like that it's just been so few and far between defensively they've been in position they've been winning their one-on-one battles getting off the blocks and ring to the ball carrier this defense has done a job slowing down the Run game th faryd pick up on first down leaves him with second and four to give to the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well they're trying to get that run play going to the outside but it's the defensive end who does a great job winning his oneon-one and forcing the negative play a third and long coming up here back to throw it's Merz got his and he'll be forced out of bounds but not before yet another big play in this passing attack well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there he leaves it with the back and this one will be stopped for No Gain that's a great individual play and I love cornerbacks that don't just take pride in covering guys I like guys that like to put their face in the fan and affect the running game this dude is physical and he impacts the defense because of it and those guys are really hard to find a lot of Corners they're smaller they don't want any part of the physical run game nice job sticking his face in there setting the edge making the tackle here just trying to bash It Forward he got a couple it's down at the 11 really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal third and long and he'll try to throw for it and that one sails through the back of the end zone really nice third third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre- snap to post Snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up fourth and on fourth down here comes the field goal [Applause] unit it's good and that lead grows even bigger [Music] so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away inside the 10 here he comes he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field hand off to the single running back out across the 20 to the 21 yd line a three yd gain small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on in the Run game you got to do a lot of this got three on first down it's second and seven back to throw it's Ward getting some heat and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 I personally love aggressive defense I love it bringing the strong safety down blitzing that sucker in there to get the quarterback boom get that guy on the ground nice aggressive play call by the defense they've got him deep in their own end and this crowd trying to help keep them there on Third and long no secret what he needs here and that one's incomplete they weren't just trying to move the chains they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's fourth down man this quarterback is going to need an ice bath when this game is over because he is getting whack seen him go down he's been sacked time and time again he just got nailed another time on that last play he can't wait for this game to be over a fair catch is called for and made just across the 50 Y Line the gator sending the offense back to work he'll keep it himself a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward snagged in the middle it's Johnson they get him down after he makes a catch Listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of back field getting him the football letting them get some positive yards passing game very effective on second down what about here on third looking for a man it's mer the quick out he steps out of bounds but he's got a first down on the play We asked earlier this week who's your favorite receiver and of course he said the open one but we know who he really wants to go to on third down the one I mean I think the open one obviously the politically correct answer but you want to find the guy that you got that great chemistry with you know exactly where he's going to be you got that Bond and that trust got him in it's Johnson he gets it all the way down to the five yd line a terrific catch and run before he stopped man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be May a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different the Gators will try to punch it in on first and goal looking to throw through his hands and incomplete he normally makes that catch every time it's second down obviously when you're playing in weather like this the ball is very slippery and it's hard to catch the QB threw a bullet that time and his receiver just could not reel it in and the D Deni him on second and goal off the play fake makes the grab and he won't be able to get in as the defense gets him down at the one nice job by the defense staying glued to him getting him on the ground as soon as he catches the football knowing he's a threat I'm not going to let this guy get out of my sights nice job by the D as they come to the line they've moved it but they need one more yard on third down slams it ahead he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple third and goal and I like the play call you're trying to run it in you expect to be physical but this offensive line just not getting the job done they need more push they'll try to put three on the board as the field goal unit comes on and he'll boot one from the right has he ought to be able to navigate that angle from this distance it's good and now the lead is even [Music] bigger they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it [Applause] away he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up play had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the football the give on the inside they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up got over 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there and they can't make the play on third down I think the quarterback's got to do a better job with his eyes guys he's already been picked off twice in this game and that one got swatted away he's telegraphing where he's throwing the football and it's making life really hard on and the Hurricanes will punt it away on fourth down they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today yet another punt on the way got to make sure that hamstring stays loose he's been busy looking everywhere for room to run but really good coverage and he'll step out of bounds Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense going down field for the big play and this is incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold [Applause] on here comes the offense on second down looking down field it's mer makes the grab down the middle didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass he hurs one deep down the left side oh intercepted and what a momentum swing that could have been but they still force a fourth down man you know you always look back in games at single plays that turn the tide and with his defense now trailing by two possessions if they could have just caught the ball and gotten that pick that potentially changes everything in this game that was a missed opportunity fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way able to keep them from getting a return and the ball goes out of bounds they're going to mark it right around the 20 and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field caught behind the line it's brown and the defense coming with bad intentions they knock him down for a loss he has been in seall getall mode all day and he is making his Mark in this rivalry game guys I'll tell you he was sick and tired of reading about and hearing about the offenses coming into this one this guy had his own designs and his own plans he has been falling David all over the field and it's so fun a rival game you have so much emotion so much passion guess what you can let that out on defense and defense you can fly around make plays and he's been doing it all game long and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches in a chance to show off their hands in the passing game one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in [Applause] them on Third and long you'll need to push it down field they'll throw it to the back on the screen they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back I'll tell you you cannot count this team out because of who's playing quarterback when this guy's in the game it's never over yeah they're trailing here in the fourth quarter but this dude can put up points [Applause] quickly the give to the running back from the shotgun at the 45 on it way and they're getting it rolling with that play to the 42 yd line and they say a quarterback's best friend is a good run game and a good running back I think he agrees over 150 yards on the day I don't even think I need a quarterback the way he's been running the football all game long and the kanes have this offense rolling they're getting this guy gaed up they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one honestly it just looks like the defense has better players on the field and that's really demonstrated itself throughout the course of the game they've got more speed they've been able to shut this offense down in every possible way and even on that last one not letting them get out of bounds you got to be impressed with what you've seen by this defense to throw it's Ward and he'll Chuck it into the cheap seats there and save the down nobody getting open there and how nice is it to have the home crowd going absolutely bananas communication is harder the snapping the football everybody being on time man this crowd really affecting the football game Deb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down he lost one down the sideline and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at fourth down and the defense is playing with a sense of urgency right now obviously they're playing with the lead they know this offense needs to find a way to generate points expecting a shot on that last play so nice job in coverage the Hurricanes decide to it away they're up to a half dozen kicks [Applause] today not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch the gator sending the offense back to work boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here PA yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this after misfiring it's second down pre- snap Motion in the back field looking to throw on second down snags it over the middle they almost got a first down there stopped the yard short it'll be third down this offense is not letting up guys they've got a lead here late and they are still taking shots they're still looking for explosive plays this defense just has not had an answer here all game long a completion but not quite enough for the first down third down coming for this offense catch in the middle it's Johnson and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving and you just get the feeling that this defense has to find a way to get off the field and get the football back at this juncture of the game trailing late if they're going to win and Ne gators come to the line with a fresh set of downs the give to the tailb and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing it's hard to run on a defense that comes off the ball like that and runs to the football like that good luck no holes in they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 dropping back it's MERS got his man quickly he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense he just keeps piling up numbers with completion after completion in this standout performance I think some people might say late in the game you got the win everything's in hand be a little bit conservative or you just say I'm just going to keep doing me and what I do with this offense is throw the football all over the yard and I'm going to try to win me a big trophy at the end of the year he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust fires to the big fella snowed under by the defense defense just hasn't had an answer for this guy he has been on point this is about as good as I've seen him play at the quarterback position and here in the fourth quarter with a big lead he's still taking shots trying to wear down this defense a seventh play of the drive it's third and one fires to the big fella putting together a real scoring threat here as they pick up the first down at the 36 he has been the go-to guy on offense all game long and on a critical third down here in the fourth quarter surprise surprise they go to that guy they've got it at the 36 it's a first and 10 they'll go to the ground breaks the tackle just enough room to gain a couple down to the 34 at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist and he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one after picking up couple at second and eight from the gun the running back looking for room not much room to run let's give him one to the 33 I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it they've made clutch t plays on this drive on third down they need one more on Third and seven quick completion on the out he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks well this defense has given up some big plays in this game so far but they've got a lot of Talent on that side of the football someone has to step up here make a play get a stop and put their team in a position to win long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field throws to the wide out oh did he find a hole in the defense touchdown Gator and they take it in for six more points now they have extended this lead guys starting to put the hammer but sometimes a rivalry game can give you a little of extra fight back and there can be no Panic at this point now you worked too hard this offseason David they've had this game Circle for so long you've got your best football right now and fight back and you just need something good to happen on this next possession you got to get the crowd back into this football game big rivalry get some emotion get some momentum on your side lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point splits the upright and they're up a full three touchdowns a 21o cushion in the four kickoff team lining up to send this one [Applause] away from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 trying to start the drive with a pass unleashes it on the run and BS incomplete but that could have been disastrous a Defender was right there well the defense really stepped up in this game they knew they had to slow down this passing attack they knew they had some matchups they were going to have to win oneon-one they've been able to do that and as a result they haven't allowed 200 passing yards in this game looking to throw it's Ward pocket starts to collapse on the Run fires down field lost the def he's wide open just gashing this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line well I'll give this offense some credit because they've got a lot of fight there is no quit in them and they're obviously trailing by a big amount in this game they haven't had a lot of success but they're still taking shots and their players are still out there competing one big play and you go from a little backed up to threatening it's first and 10 from the 40 got it in the middle it's brown they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first well here's the problem offensively because you're trailing by so much so late in the game the defense now is going to be playing big Zone coverages and they're going to allow you to throw the ball underneath in the middle of the field rally to make a tackle and Bre the clock it's going to be hard now for this offense to claw their way back in this one they want to just keep throwing it and they can't hook up going a big play on second down now it's third down well they take a shot down the field it's another incompletion it's really been that kind of story this defense has made this guy earn it every single play really small Windows to throw into one touchdown pass that's a little bit surprising you thought maybe they'd have more in this game from the gun on third down unloads to the wide out connection to the right he's run out of bounds after the big gate and they are in is this first and goal well the field goal kicker can step away from the net and go sit down grab some water they're might not going to need him just quite yet that was a great play call throwing the ball on Third and short in field goal range to get the completion Now setting up first and goal the canes are moving quickly down the [Applause] field he makes the connection he's all the way down to the two yd line just spectacular execution there how nice is it in this offense to have your best receiver playing in the slot you're matching him up against linebackers against safeties or nickel Corners nickel Corners are often times the defense's third best cornerback this guy is virtually uncoverable they'll try to blast their way in he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and that's a great stop by this defense second down and goal getting the Lost yardage play now putting your defense in a better position for third down and they'll try to bite a chunk out of this lead on Third and goal to the air it's ward he wants it all and he can't find his man as he was trying to pay off this Red Zone opportunity well this guy must feel like he's run into a buz saww in this game he has been under drest all game long that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure of this defense and that's why they find themselves down by so much here in the fourth and it's knocked away they'll give up the ball failing to convert on [Applause] Fourth leaves it with the running back running with power that is exactly what you want from your offense create some space get out the Shadow of Your Own in zone Palmer and make it easier on this offense yeah it's nice when you have a running back like that too that can create that space for you now if you're the play caller your entire Playbook is wide open they'll snap it from the 26 on first down to the ground he's got it again defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down takes this hand off and headed to the right he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and that was a big time stop defensively being physical creating a negative play on that last run now you're setting up third down this is the critical time you've got to find a way to get off the field you're trailing late in the game give it back back to your offense to go see if they can score somebody needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 from the gun wants to pass just missed his man gave him just a little too much and that is a frustrating possession for this offense you wanted to run the football maybe take some time you did the opposite got in a bad situation threw the football stopped the clock not how you manage a game late in the fourth quarter the gator send out the punt unit they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today another punt on the way got to make sure those hammies and glutes all activated don't want any muscle PS from overuse that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength to the air on first down he's going to let one fly down the middle and he throws his third pick of the day his head has to spinning and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position and as a defensive lineman late in the game man when you know it's passed you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this them stats get the int nice job by this D they'll get this drive started from their own 45 yd line the hand off to Johnson he stopped at the 45 after picking up 10 Y and the first down man this this is a punch to the gut when you know you're losing and you know you got to get a stop and you know they're going to run the football and they still run the football down your throat it's been that kind of day for this defense offense threatening at the 45 yd line on First and 10 they'll run it the clock moving nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 wants to throw it's MERS and boy was that pressure in his face immediately down he goes and I think if you're the head coach here you kind of got mixed reviews on your passing attack so far because yes you've thrown for a bunch of yards and you thrown a couple touchdowns but you've also given up four sacks now pass protection has not been great even though they've got the lead in this game this is a third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch and the defense gets loose bringing the Heat and down he goes again man this offense has had a great day and they've put some big plays together but the last two plays man getting a little complacent they got to protect their quarterback that's backto back sacks the offensive line has to do a better job the Gators will bring the punt team onto the field and these guys have been busy sixth punt of the day bringing it back it's Restrepo returns like that or while you don't settle for the fair catch if you don't have to picks up just a little bit of yards to help out the O they'll start this drive with a pass and the DB forcing the incomplet pass the deflection and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that were going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next time pressure coming that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down and this defense has put a game together like it is hard to put all the facets of Defense together run defense pass defense they've been so good man dialed in you could tell they were ready they were fast they were physical they dominated this football game today back to throw it's Ward zings it complete to the right the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious and the canes come to the line with a new set of downs the aerial assault continues just missed on the connection incomplete at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage after the quarterback and receiver couldn't connect it's second and 10 he's looking to throw he wants a big play here late just about had another one picked off they have been way too Reckless with the football throwing it away three times already it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one on third down he drops to throw and that'll be incomplete they certainly weren't afraid to take a shot there and now it's fourth down you know it's one thing to take shots early in the game when the defense may not be expecting it but at this point fourth quarter you're trailing by a lot they know you're going to do it the defense was expecting that one great job in the back end down by multiple possessions you can't come up empty on this drive they'll go for it on fourth down here's a throw down field late and he's got it inside the 15 yd line how about that one fourth and forever and he just turned one loose and fired it for the first down man does that sting defensively you get him in the perfect situation you know they're going to pass the football you play the ball deep and you give up a deep pass that is a back breaking play [Applause] going up top on first down and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally herly to the air it's Ward they're trying to get to it and he feels the heat coming and it burns him up another sack the defense puts the exclamation point on the day they have had a wonderful day man doing everything great just you could tell they were dialed into what was going on and now just throw another sack in the equation hitting the quarterback being disrupted they've been all over the [Applause] field on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm another interception that's his fourth of the day and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception keep up them pass rushers bringing them DBS what I'm doing in this situation when I got the lead by a couple scores late in the ball game in the fourth quarter I'm going to rush the passer like crazy I'm going to put all those DBS back playing the pass that's what happened great job understanding they're going to have to take shots we get the interception this one's almost done Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense now the chance to take a knee and just put the finishing touches on this victory yeah and this offense has done their job man they've been so productive built the lead listen their defense has weight as well but now Jesse you get to Exhale you get to breathe and you know we got the W and we played well and we got to think about where we're taking our girlfriend and parents for dinner right what side are we ordering with our giant steak we've earned it in this game now it's time to go sell a for e [Applause] and the Hurricanes will kick it off to get us underway on the move from inside is five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Florida's offense will start this game off they always butterf to start a game but when you have a rivalry like this the adrenaline is pumping on overdrive guys they aren't all the same we say that but we know differently the blood is boiling the temperature is hot Jesse you want this week more than most yeah David we' played in these games before everything just seems to be heightened right the game seems to be moving faster the crowd noise feels louder your composure will be tested early in a game like this after picking up a couple second and eight might as well stick with him not much there picks up a couple to the 22 last time these two got together it was a tight one Jesse seems like every time these two teams play the game just feels faster right because it is a rivalry game there's just a greater sense of urgency when we see these teams match up yeah the fans feel it they know it there's so much to they think about it year we about the next game on the schedule they're always looking forward to this one and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew ex exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done and the gator line up to punt it away first time we've seen their punt team this afternoon looking for a block for stpo they'll put a stop to that return at about the 37 yd line the hurricane offense will get its first crack at it now and a big key as this game unfolds is just how aggressive will he be throwing the football in a lock down corner like that yeah and when you're an elite quarterback you think you can do whatever you want to be and you think you can make the right decisions I'm interested to see how much he'll test that quarterback on the other side you know there's a saying there's no defense for a perfect but's be extra careful and sharp when he's throwing that guy's way didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 looking for a man it's Ward and a little too much adrenaline on that throw never gave his receiver a chance I know you want to prepare for every game the same way but there's just something different about rivalry games Jesse it's because Rees I think players are aware that games like this Define your legacy as a player your record in rivalry games is something that people are going to talk about for years and years down the road you have got to show up and play your best football in games like this yeah it's nice to have guys like this on third down on money Downs that you can go to and you know he's going to win hit the gas hit the brakes create a little bit of Separation nice job this crowd bringing the energy and noise early from the gun they'll try to impose their will that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yard great tackle there and these defensive tackles just eat people they swallow human beings when you get near them they're so big so strong those guys those running backs com they just need a on a running back and he usually falls to the ground just because of their sheer mass and strength setting up the screen just ran over it didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down and he didn't get a big gain you you want to call that play and probably want to get more yards but you could tell that was super close from seriously busting loose nice job running the screen getting the ball to your playmaker if he could just make one more guy miss that might have been huge that was almost picked off and what a disaster that would have been to throw a pick on the opening drive instead it's fourth down really nice job by the defense playing aggressive understanding it could be a running situation but still playing disciplined enough to play the pass and be successful on that third and Sh and the kanes will call on their punt team he ought to be able to use his first punt to s him deep fair catch called for and made the gator sending the offense back to work they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal on down from their own 22 right back to the well and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening defense is about firing off hitting the offensive guys and staying in your gaps everybody knowing where they're supposed to be you can tell the defense everyone was right where they're supposed to be nowhere to run got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 scanning the field it's MERS they're bringing heat finds it back in the middle you know the short passing game is a great goto weapon for any offensive coordinator in the first quarter because it's reliable obviously but it also allows you to see how the defense is going to react and play so for coordinators this can really open up the rest of your playb for the rest of the game looking for that first down on Third and short from the 28 from the gun wants to pass trying to get to him trying to get rid of it and the third down pass is incomplete I don't hate the play call there on Third and short either because you try to catch them off guard third and short on your own side of the 50 it's not there throw it away now if you want to go for it now and run it Now's the Time to do it on fourth down the gator will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away they'll put that return to a stop at the 33 but the offense set up in pretty good field position they'll start this drive at the 33 yd line try to get the edge with a quick touch pass finding a way to put that foot in the ground and get it up to the 37 yd line now on second down from the gun the running back has it shakes off the defender they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one great running backs consistently make people miss and he did a really good job of breaking one tackle but he couldn't do it to the next and the next at the next the offensive line going to have to do a lot better job giving him some more space so he can get out in the open field and some play for this offense better find the earplugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down he's got it he's got first down yardage across the 50 they'll mark it at the 49 and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down they'll run it from the gun and he'll get behind those pads and deliver the blow and get it down to the 44 I think tackling is about effort most of the time it's about how much passion how much physicality you can bring to get your guy on the ground refuse not to get him on the ground that's not a big back you got to get that guy on the ground you can't let him pick up an extra coup yards and stay ahead of the sticks looking down field it's Ward shoots it to the left wide open down field slicing and dicing through this defense and they've got it down to the 23 that kind of play is just vintage hurricane receiver play I mean Big Time Playmakers on the outside the list is long for Miami but finding those Elite Speeders down in the State of Florida it's not a hard job movement here from the tight end from the gun the ground game they're there to stop him at the 21 after a pick up of two yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge picked up two yard on that last one they need eight on second down he'll do it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well they were trying to set up the option but the quarterback had no chance did you see the defensive tackle penetrate what a great first step he shot right through the offensive line and got the tfl let's see what they've dialed up on Third and long from the 22 from the gun wants to pass he'll pull it down and run and he couldn't quite enough Running Room to reach the line to game looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out and now on fourth down they'll try a field goal he'll line it up from the right side a 37 y coming up that is no good guys after the no change in the score [Music] Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense after picking up a couple at second and eight looking to pass it's MERS finds his man down the middle and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and stopped from getting the first down it's so important that this offense is able to stay on schedule and what that means is keeping third Downs manageable that last completion to the tight end accomplished just that really nice play [Applause] call he'll pull it on the read still running up the 40 and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down oo I like that option play keep running that too because it's obvious the defense right now is really keying in on this running back that was a big point of emphasis for them all week long in practice and it's opening up holes now for the quarterback to run the gator will snap it on First and 10 out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the back field and get the tackle for L lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw almost had the completion just missed it well the receiver getting a little ahead of himself on that one you saw him calling for the ball he thought he was wide open he thought that was going to be an easy catch the ball finally gets to him and he drops if you're going to call for the ball like that and call your shot you've got to secure the catch on Third and long he has to throw for it and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense third and long situation we're bringing an extra DB on the field and we're telling our front guys to pin your ears back and go get the QB and they get the job done and the gator will line up to pun it away they'll look to pin him deep he'll call for the fair catch here and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field we talk about settling for points but sometimes when you have to settle for nothing it can be demoralizing yeah it can definitely be frustrating and I think it leads you to say maybe I go for it more but Jesse I think this offense just needs to put another drive together and just finish Stronger Yeah and and be a little bit less predictable too especially as they get closer and closer down to the end zone after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 looking to throw it's wry down on the field as the pass is incomplete but let's see what the penalty is so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty listen to this crowd just shaking the GDs of this place trying to help their defense they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making a tackle for a loss and the running game is collaps so far on this drive and now it's third down he's looking down field to throw Lofts one high and deep and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you worked on it get your feet set at the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off this spot nice execution by this defense the Hurricanes will try to pin them back with the punt
