how are all y'all doing today hi hi oh yeah I just want to thank you for giving me my latest binge of session just like I needed this it was right on time y'all just know all right it's good to hear that but one of the things I have to talk about is this intro y'all actually made me watch the intro to all of the episodes something that I were you like so confused about what it was it was it the intro yeah was it a scene I was like what's going on but I'm trying to learn to dance now I know oh that's I think that's the point like can y'all tell me the reaction when they told you like okay like this is what you got to do and this is what we're actually going to use it for no yeah nobody know that was no no was the response everybody freaked out and I know everyone was like I'm not doing it I'm not doing it I'm not doing it and then um we were forced into it and now it's like my favorite thing I've ever done yeah it ended up being really fun actually yeah yeah Eve Eve was like like I do it for Millie and then we all eventually just I did not say that Dakota fic said that that was not and and then now she's like I'm a superstar and I was born for this it's true I was like honey they are giving I was like yes yeah I mean I see like chore dance choreography some type of like tour just just a little some something in all your futures I'm just say that's very generous I don't know that's in my future but okay I do one of the things that I do love about this series is you have this eclectic group of people together and you know this unfortunate event takes place but I think there's so much Nuance in your characters because you have to convince the audience that anyone could be capable of something like this while still providing Humanity to when we learn like the inner workings of what your characters are dealing with so can you talk about the balance of being being able to like you know be a part of this like top-notch Society but also too showing that there's real people behind the glitz and the Glam well that's a wonderful question for one I think uh yeah I think we were all kind of put in a position where there was a fine you know line to walk and um and that's a murder mystery but I think Susanna had a very unique take on it and and she brought humor in the most unexpected places and um yeah I certainly think like there are a lot of unexpected twists and turns and red herrings but uh it's like you said it's what makes these characters human that makes it perhaps worthy of a second watch and like bingeable in that aspect as well and yeah I as far as shooter is concerned I think uh I really enjoyed playing into the mystery of it and and how it evolves into finally kind of understanding who this guy is is um is one of the funner aspects of playing him I love it I mean even with your character you know there was something she said and I was like hold on am I looking at love right when it was like there has to be like a passion a desire when I'm not with them I want to be near them yeah like oh honey I was like am I have I ever really been in love now what kind of love have you been experiencing that's the only love I want okay I'm like damn I need to like step up my Tinder profile or something cuz I'm like but can you talk about the complexity with her I mean really even Megan too your characters is like you can tell that they're constantly hiding something that it doesn't deal with the mystery that they're internally like battling themselves of wanting to fully live their truth yeah I think that's sort of like the genius of Jenna's writing is that every character has a secret and throughout the show it's revealed um so that was always really interesting I think for all of us in the cast to play with that and then also to play with the storyline and the Twist and um all of the secrets that we can't talk about but I think it has comes firstly comes down to the writing and then it's just sort of like extra fun for the actors to play them yeah and I think that the cast is like so talented everyone was so good at fully embodying whatever their character's Vibe was in a way that just felt really like genuine so I think that coupled with like the writing and everything it just kind of made it like feel alive look I felt alive I love me shows where rich people mess so y'all gave me my entire I know thank you for taking time to teach me what real love is and with me today I'm just sending love and light all your ways I hope you have a great day thank you so much thank you bye I just feel honored to be able to speak to the person who gave me my entire life watching this series I appreciate you it was a good binge I'm telling my whole family watch it cuz I need I need to talk about this but one of the things that I love is like all of these characters you know you have to believe that they're capable of something as Grave as what we're introduced to in the series but then they also have to have some type of humanity at the same time you can tell that they're like battling their demons so I really wanted you to talk about doing it so beautifully showcasing that you have these people people who live the life that everybody wants to live but there's darker demons that they're still fighting against I mean you are actually totally hitting the point of of of what the series is about it is about you know you know supposedly they're having this glamorous beautiful um Rosy life but underneath there's so many secrets that there's quite a lot of dark secrets and and nothing is what it seems and no one is who they really say they are and um and so so so so the trick was to to to place them comfortable in the world and believably in the world and also to portray some kind of potential happiness and yet at all times have leave gaps for those secrets to kind of pop up and then be closed down again I love it because it's kind of so relatable you feel like once you reach this certain type of status that you know no one would fully accept you if they knew who you truly were as a person so I want to know for you like being in this industry like how do you make sure that you're still staying true to who you are cuz I feel like sometimes we can lose ourselves a little bit well I'm a pretty honest person and uh and I've always been I I don't know how to I'm actually a terrible liar and um which at time has been a bit of an issue but uh but I think in a way what it does and and and it does it does kind of induce a certain trust I think the cast trust me because I do not I am always honest to them which makes me you know at times I will say h this was boring or I would say things where you go whoa and I know first time enough of them went whoa that's not very kind that's not very diplomatic but it's done with a lot of love and it's done for the I mean for the pure for for the only purpose being making them be as great as possible but I do think staying true to oneself is is is key in order to survive as a human being but I mean also too I need to know what was the conversation like cuz this opening credits like for the series I was like hold on like is this the show I think is going to be is this something different now like how did you convince because the caliber of talent that you have in this series how did you even tell them the idea and then on top of that get them to say yes like I'm going to do this dance sequ well I did it I put it on the schedule and then they all went no way and and and and they even had like a WhatsApp group uh the cars going no no no we're not going to do that they going to have to you know and then they came and I think maybe they were hoping it would go away and then they came to sat and um and they were all going no no I can't do that we can't do that we can't do that and Nicole who's like a great dancer we're going my my dress is too tight I can't do that and they all just went and we said we'll just try and if it doesn't work it doesn't work we'll just do it and um and then and then we did and then I said but I promise you I will jump in with you and I will do one dance with you and I did that and that was so embarrassing for me and so much fun for them because it totally showed how difficult the dance actually is and I will put it on Instagram I will put it somewhere so that everybody can see how great they are and how terrible that director is at daning well I think it was very commendable that you decided to like do it with them I think that took a lot of guts so I'm happy for it I'm happy you convinced them to say yes I'm I'm very happy too I think it's really fun no it is like I you know everyone always skips through the intro but I actually watched it for every single episode I watch that intro every single day I'm trying to learn a dance too so I just want you to know I'm a fan of this decision all right good I'm glad that's intention but I'm glad you actually did watch it yes look I love this series but I mean also too like when you're because this is based on a novel I want to know like how what's the process behind it like do you try to just add your own twist to it because you have to make the fans of the novel happy but then you still have to get those who aren't introduced to it you have to get them invested as well so what does that look like when you're kind of crafting this story together before we actually get into shooting well I read the novel quite late I read the pilot and then I got involved in the scripts and then I decided I was going to wait reading the book until I needed some new inspiration so I read the book like two weeks before we started shooting and what it did like Ann Hilder got such a rich texture description of plays of mood of you know of atmosphere and it gave me a key to when actually shooting it it gave me a key to really to the plays and to the you know the smells and all of that which I feel is very much reflected in the show so for for me as a director it's less about you know word for word doing the novel it's much more about capturing the actual soul of it and um and I think we did and um and and and and and and I'm very grateful that she thinks we did so and I think for the fans you know it's really about it's really about bringing a great TV show more than trying to do everything wor for worth the same thing well I appreciate it and I think you did a good job because I watched the series twice so that's just to let you know how good it was I watched it twice so I just want to thank you so much I cannot wait for everyone to watch this like I feel like I'm let in on this secret that I need to discuss but like we're almost here but I just want to thank you so much for taking time out of your day
