NJ Transit will be free for a week after service wo gov Murphy announces in response to Growing frustration from commuters New Jersey governor Phil Murphy has announced a fair holiday for NJ Transit Riders during the week leading up to Labor Day from August 26 to September 2nd this move comes after recent service interruptions and a controversial 15% Fair hike that angered many regular Riders the fair holiday applies to all modes of transportation on the NJ Transit Network and aims to offer relief and appreciation for passengers loyalty during a challenging period additionally commuters who purchased August monthly passes will receive a 25% discount on their September passes while the fair holiday is meant to ease tensions some critics argue that it falls short of addressing the ongoing Fair increases and service issues
