J let's just kind of rewind to a year ago Sam Houston there was some frustration it was a 14 nothing game there were big question marks obviously you wanted to come out and make a statement this year because of kind of what happened how did you feel like the team generally speaking took a major step forward compared to where you were at this time last year yeah I feel like we came out played more physical um you know I feel like we we started struggling again at the beginning but we bounced back from that and we're able to show our adversity we were able to come through adversity and uh you know put up a couple points last time we talked about a week and a half ago you told me and the butterflies and the nerves are always there and until you kind of get into the pace of the game how was it for you tonight emotionally yeah it was really nerve-racking you know just com back haven't really done contact but you know just going back out there it was like nothing ever happened so you know just grateful for my my guys you know all my coaches you know just believing in me and you know allowing me just to come back smoothly what was the most encouraging thing about the Run game tonight specifically yeah they're opening them holes getting into Combos and you know it look really good so you know we just got to keep building on that and go on to next week okay on and on the opposite side what are some specific things you're looking to clean up as you get ready for SMU yeah you know I mean there wasn't I wouldn't say there's one perfect play we had but you know we just got to go back look at look at the film and you know we had a good couple plays but you know I'm sure we'll find some things to clean up and to approve on how did you feel like the running backs as a whole performed tonight because a lot of you saw the field yeah yeah miles he he had a big catch right there down the sideline we were trying talent to he step he would have went into the end zone but yeah good to see him out there Enix saw the field some so we're happy for him and of course for just being back after a year being out you know he came back and you know we saw the impact he was making so we're really grateful for all him I need to point out that when you scored your touchdown you handed the ball off to someone else to spike it what what went into that well I scored and they were like kind of wrapping me up so I just did my little thing and then I had the ball so then I saw whing right in front of me coming back I was like you want it he was like yeah took it spiked it I was like yep how would you rate Wayan lao's Spike 10 out of 10 10 out of 10 hey we'll finish with this um I know that Jill is the defensive coordinator but the whole team felt that frightening scenario with him having a heart attack on Thursday night but to see him walk back into the stadium what did that mean to you and the BYU Cougars tonight that was a big uh relief to us you know we always interact with them all the time in practice you know he's always messing with us so you know just not having him there like in pregame and stuff he kind of worried us but you know just seeing him at warm-ups you know it kind of just really relieved us knowing that he's all right doing well and you know we want to go out and perform for him okay one more that I need to ask I forgot as far as the lights go and the new bright lights at level stadium and the turf is it's brand new grass like how was that performing under with with some upgrades in the stadium yeah it f felt really nice the grass is really nice the only criticism I had was after we score we should turn the lights blue and like they should flash that's that's that's just my idea so yeah we got to get you in a meeting with athletic marketing and talk about some things exactly that would be really cool just flashing blue lights after we score but alj congratulations on a big win appreciate you guys
