welcome to niord Stadium home to the Cincinnati barats they've been playing football here since 1902 and this crowd today is fired up and ready to get going we've got a really compelling contest here a team that's earned the top 25 ranking heading on the road for a serious test of their Poise and their medal as we'll see the number 24th ranked team in the country the Texas A&M agies taking on a squad from the Big 12 the Cincinnati Bearcats 3A sports college football I'm Chris fower here in the booth with Kirk K Street I think we've talked long enough Kirk let's get this game going and the yit will kick it away to start us off Turner trying to create good field position and he stopped at the 20 trying to make something happen but that's good coverage there the Bearcats offense comes on field first today there's the star running back jogging out of the field he is trying to add to his huge highlight re Kirk Chris honestly I don't think we've seen too many running backs who can duplicate what this guy can do on the field he's got everything Vision speed power he can diagnose a defense in real time they're really excited to see this kid play well we knew coming into this game this offense loved to play the RPO game and here early they pick up some big yards that run good for a first down the offense still rolling and they'll run it out of the shotgun and the sopore able to bring him down quickly see that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just won the battle up front at the line of scrimmage not giving up any big plays everybody's Gap sound that's really solid defense on that play offense getting set it's second down there's the handoff that run moves the ball across the 40 well I feel like they called that knowing chances are they're not going to hit a home run but look at this put themselves in a perfect third down situation it's much more manageable now we'll see if they can convert offense facing a third and short from the 41 can they make the first down and avoid a tricky fourth down decision grab near the sticks it's Smith and bulldozing his way through out of bounds but not before a huge game offense gets a first set of downs boy nice job here by this offense creating an opportunity for this receiver to excel after the catch it's early in this game so this defense better get their arms around this receiver because he could be a monster today off the play fake on first down cannot Escape that ferocious pass rush it's a sack and a player was down injured after that last play we'll take a timeout while they check him out so this offense faces a second and 15 the oine needs to regroup they're going to run it here they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one looks like a player is down injured at that last play will'll take a timeout where they check it out they come to the line on third down try to keep this drive going can the defense get a stop here here's the snap looking to throw they've got him defense comes up with a sack you better be careful with your backup quarterback you got to protect him better they've already lost the starting quarterback they cannot afford another injury the Bearcats will have to punt this one away he's on to boot it away now but goes out of bounds looks like they'll spot it near the 15 so C we reach the end of one so far a defensive stal made here in the early stats illustrating the story as we get lined up here for quarter number two we'll see if the offenses can get going they didn't do much in the opening quarter trying to find room it's Moss brought down after a seven yd gain so it's second and three great job by the offensive line here over up some holes and giving the running back room to run on first down plays like this can open up the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think are they going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down field second down after that run on the previous play back to pass it's Wegman pass walls incomplete there was a lot of contact no penalty brings up third down [Applause] looking to pick up the first down through the air caught over the middle it's green he's tackled quickly but the yardage is good enough for the first down well this is called settling down in his own defense just kind of finding that soft spot so not only does this tight end show that he's got great athletic ability and great size here he shows that he understands coverage by sitting down in that hole giving the quarterback a nice Target able to pick up that first down Texas A&M getting set with a first and 10 now and he'll set up to throw sags the quick throw a lot of times when a quarterback sees man defense he wants to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible put the ball in the hands of one of their best Playmakers and hope that he can break a tackle or two on the outside and get a big play they'll have to hurry now second down with the clock [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] ticking looks like he didn't get the snap off in time that'll cost him five yards delay of game offense quarterback lost track of the play clock cost the offense five second down play coming up for this offense looking to throw again it's an out route the catch made that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first down I love how this quarterback is finding this slot receiver not only is he tough to handle but it's what he's doing after the catch he has such wiggle and quickness he's tough to bring down you see more positive yards after the catch here here comes a first down pass attempt here's a screen pass to the running back and they're finally able to stop him but great execution on the screen pass fooled the defense there well this is great execution here on this screen play to the running back to pick up big yards in the first down and I think in the process Chris they send a message to the defense you can Rush our quarterback all you want but when you do you better be careful cuz we're going to throw the screen on you looking to pass it's weitman catch made along the sideline but he's short of his sticks and he'll run out of bounds get up a few yards on the play the key here Chris is the timing by the quarterback the fact he got the ball out quickly gave his receiver a chance one more hitch or a slight hesitation and that's an inet or an interception quarterback wants to throw it on second down grab down the middle it's green he's brought down at the six the offense will have first and goal right there so the offense calls a timeout here that's their first of the half yagi has come to the line with first and goal quarterback drops back makes the grab in the end zone touchdown Texas ANM that kind of plays almost impossible to defend when the quarterback is throwing the ball with that kind of accuracy and timing and the receiver runs a route like this good luck trying to stop it so maybe this is a great start for this combination of this quarterback and receiver for a big day [Music] and they'll set up for the pat on for the extra point and the P makes it 7 nothing to open scoring that makes the score Tas Cincinnati Z so after the touchdown here's the kickoff and we'll see if the opposing offense has time to answer before halftime Fields it just outside the goal line he be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team and here comes the Cincinnati offense back out on the field let's see what they do here in the final minute of the half try to get aggressive and cut into this lead or play it safe a timeout is called important stage late here in the second quarter and completion makes it second and short dropping back it's sorby quick throw catch made on the out route a big game before he goes out of bounds the offense keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs just a good job of spreading the wealth making sure everybody's getting their touches when you do that the defense can't lock in on one guy or two guys make them have to be aware of everybody and allows you to continue to spread the ball around and spread the field making it tougher for this defense catch made on the out route offense tops the back with their second timeout to talk strategy anytime a quarterback and a receiver are in sync you got a chance to make a very successful play great job here by the offense caught over the middle it's Royer and a quick timeout call by the offense after the play and here the tight end shows off his hands for a nice game love to see the big man get his touches on First and 10 they'll look to throw it looking for the out looks down field and finds a receiver who worked his way wide open how about the arm strength from this quarterback he really didn't have any other option than to put it right in there and give it everything that he had great timing and a good job of squeezing that in between the Defenders the offense comes back out there not much time left perhaps just time for a couple plays before the half and he quickly clocks it you'll have a chance of attacking on three here before the break it's now second so on second down they'll try out the field goal unit trying to get three before halftime this will be a 35 yd attempt right down the middle the Ki snap the hold the kick everything there perfect to put three points up here for the offense [Music] so here's the kickoff now offense settling for three tacking on a little bit of momentum before the halftime break return to take a deep breath and digest what we just saw in Cincinnati and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top and on that note time to throw it back to our guys at the stadium Bearcats will kick this away to begin the second half return starts from inside the five he'll be tackled at the 18 that's good coverage there here comes the Texas A&M offense back on the field over first and 10 first play of the third quarter is a handoff and try the middle but gain nothing on that play that's a great Play All Around by this defense your first level Defenders hold their own at the point of attack allowing the second third level players to roam free and make the tackle close to the line of scrimmage getting set here's second down they'll run it handed off to the running back they stop him right at the 24 I'll take that every single time offensive line does a nice job up front this back's vision and ability to get positive yards by lowering his pads on full display right [Music] there important third down play coming [Music] [Applause] up to throw it's Wegman doesn't hold on good hit by the DB now it brings up in fourth down man on your own side of the field you're playing a risky game here third and short your goal should just be keep this drive alive the best way you can sometimes is just hand the ball off to your running back and have him get behind that offensive line and go to walk curious to see what they do now here on this fourth and short and at Fourth Down they'll punt it away here and the Return Man decides to Signal fair Catch and here comes the fa cats offense back out out of the field which offense can get it going first this one has been a struggle so far grab down the middle it's Smith good completion here by the offense good timing between the quarterback and his slot receiver but I really like how this defense sitting back in zone is able to get to the football and not allow any yards after the catch it's second down after that completion now'll run it here that's the running back with the ball they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one Chris that play just didn't have much of a chance at all from the snap quarterback hands this off and just nowhere to go it's almost like the defense was anticipating the play call and they put themselves in a position to come up with a nice tackle for a loss the offense will line up chance for a couple more plays before the end of the quarter caught over the middle it's Johnson not much after the catch but it is good enough for a first down [Music] [Applause] and as we break for the quarter Kirk it's Texas A&M on top sitting in pretty good position as we wrap up the third quarter let's check out the game ST so far one quarter to go let's see if this sets up as a classic finish looks like the barats with first and 10 here to the air it's sorby quarterback finds a Target on the right it's complete and he's shoved out of bounds by the defense short of the first down marker and the running back that time just kind of sneaks out of the back field and shows his hands on that nice catch second down after that short completion here's the snap quarterback drops back grab behind the line it's kinder they wrap him up after the completion just short of the first down marker wow they get positive yards here but you have a sense that they wanted a little bit more with that pitching catch here we go late in a tight game this might be the biggest play so far third and two moving the receiver around free snap a pop pass on the Jet Sweep the defense grabs him after the completion he's just short of a first down how about this the offense gets the ball to one of their Playmakers out in space but the defense the athletic ability on that side of the ball does a good job of bringing him down short of the first down so here we go down one score they're going to go for it on fourth down from the shotgun it's a handoff well these are the kind of situations he practice every week you got to be able to get a yard and the offensive line was able to give them just enough push to convert here on the ground clearly they've done this drill before countless times and it shows new set of downs for the offense first and 10 quarterback drops back we're going to test the secondary that's caught it's Henderson really solid first down game he's just short of the marker so maybe a chance here to take a downfield shot man I love the route here by the receiver really sold he's going vertical down field ends up coming back to the football to pick up big yards looking to throw it's sorby it's hauled in here over the middle you make the tackle but the game moves the ball to the 28 how about the offense here dialing up a good Zone Peter let's give credit to the coordinator for calling the right play at the right time and the receiver finding the hole in that zone so it's a first down here the clock is stopped temporarily but they'll get to the line quickly quarterback drops back from the shotgun looking for a receiver the sure hands it's Smith the offense wisely spend a timeout after the play clock Management's going to be very important here in the final minutes the completion makes it second down back to throw again toward the left sideline but it's incomplete hey really good call here by the defensive coordinator working with the lead in the fourth quarter get six defensive backs with that dime look cover as much ground as you can and have as much speed as you can I think the quarterback may have been confused there and just threw the ball away now it's third and short from the 21 defense trying to make a stand here and prevent a touchdown grab down the middle it's Henderson The Tackle is made the offense is now set up with a first and goal from the eight well I'll tell you what this guy's been able to put the ball in some tight spots all game long and here we are late in the game he needs to continue to play with that consistency that's a great example that he's up to it forc and goal can the offense punch it in and claim the lead here in the fourth quarter launching one to the end zone touchdown Cincinnati they have jumped in front in the final minute here we go they take the lead what an amazing comeback by this team and this offense now it comes down to can their defense hold the lead with under a minute to go [Music] an important P now to make this a three-point [Applause] game kick is up and good they go up by three here in the fourth quarter can they hang on here's the kickoff team Now set to boot this one away set to ADV on the he's going to return it from near the goal line he'll be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team and the Texas A&M offense heads back out onto the field looking to pass it's wigman oh it's incomplete that's a good job of the defender to break that up some players just have a real match for timing their jump and that Defender was able to get a big p on the ball and bat it away offense will need some big plays to get into field goal range the clock a huge Factor here quarterback looking to throw it on second down pulls it in it's mohamd and a quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve as much clock as possible the offense here needs some big plays to give the kicker a chance here the clock is a factor third down out of the shotgun he makes the grab and he makes his way out of bounds good thinking there clock is stopped what a pitch and catch by the quarterback and receiver for a big gain for this offense first down for the off Texas A&M getting set with a first and 10 now offense looking to throw the ball caught over the middle it's moss and the coach quickly calls timeout after the play trying to hold on to as much time as possible fresh set it down for the offense first down from the shotgun drops back that one Falls incomplete good defensive play brings up second Down Chris I thought he had his hands on that football I thought he was going to come down with it but give the defense all the credit with a big hit to knock that ball loose an incompletion makes it second and [Applause] 10 using his legs it's Moss the senior to make the stop after a short game the offense takes time out with 26 seconds remaining Christino this rat era over the years has always grown offensively but what I've been always impressed with the defenses that really build their defense to play in space still have an ability to be sound at the line of scrimmage and defend a running game it's exactly what we saw right there nearly intercepted there that was almost the ball game but it does set up fourth down [Applause] so here we go one of the biggest moments of this game the field goal unit is out there for a pressure kick he knocks this one right through and that ties the game in the final minute of Regulation man I tell you life of a kicker this guy's not been called on the entire game probably cold as ice on the sideline but when it matters he's hot as a stove when his numbers [Music] called They Come Away with three points on the drive and now the kickoff team will boot it away and here's the return from inside the five he'll be tackled at the 18 that's good coverage there first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be and the running back takes the hand off they try to run inside but nowhere to go on the down coming that's the so tied up after regulation we go to overtime remember in college football it's dueling possessions in the second overtime if we get there you have to go for two points if you score a touchdown and the third overtime C just becomes a series of two-point tries and I know that's your favorite to see if we can get to that third series of these overtimes I love extra football so I'm looking forward to this let's see who's going to win it so first and 10 our first play of overtime on the handout they'll test the right side here brought down but it's past the line to gain game of 15 first and goal Texas so the offense will set up first and goal here in this first overtime first and goal handoff they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one of one now Ang [Applause] so off the loss it's second and goal from the 11 offense will keep it on the ground here able to fight for a decent gain here in that running [Music] [Applause] play Let's see what the call is on this critical third and goal he try to punch it in in overtime anding to throw for it on Third and [Applause] goal looking for six touchdown Aggies to jump in front in OT well that's a thing of beauty right there good job all around offensive line gave the quarterback enough time quarterback puts it right on the money and with this receiver running a route like this makes it pretty simple all he had to do is get his head turned around catch that football he's already in the end zone for the [Music] touchdown and now for the crucial extra point to push the lead to seven in OT P puts him in front by seven good that makes the score Texas 17 so pressure on this offense here in overtime they must score a touchdown to stay alive on First and 10 here looking to throw the ball looking to scramble he's taken down behind the line he's going to lose a yard or two on the play brings up second down the offense will look to regroup here at second and 11 dropping back it's sorby quarterback escapes the pocket keeper for the first down and more first and goal be so needing to reach the end zone to keep this game alive it's first and goal now and the quarterback drops back looking for an open man and it's a touchdown for an extra point away from OT or you know for two and win it right now well this is one of the benefits of going second when you get into overtime now you know what you're facing you put a touchdown on the board you can either send it to another overtime if you kick an extra point or potentially hey let's win the game and go for two right here [Music] and now for the crucial extra point to tie this up and force a second overtime and the extra point was up and good so one overtime not enough to decide this one here comes the first play of double oot off the play fake looking to throw on first down couldn't find anybody open and just has to throw it away it needs to Second down offense getting set up here's second down bakes the hand off looking to throw with the catch it's Smith and he's out of bounds after gaining decent yardage set of B at the 22 yd line third down coming up now it's third and short from the 22 you expect this is four down territory let's see what they do on third down looking to throw it's sorbe throws to the tight end trying for a pick six to win the game and he's wrapped up after a solid return intercepted by Texas they'll take over first and 10 so here we go this defense needing to come up with something special here make a play to keep hope alive in this game out of the shotgun he hands it off the sophore with a strong tackle there second down after that run on the previous play now the play fake he'll look to throw it and he'll Loft it to the endzone and he's in it's a touchdown to win the game a double overtime classic well that's just textbook right there great timing and recognition by the quarterback great route by this receiver he gave a nice stem to the outside before he went to the post perfect timing tough to defend and an easy TouchDown for this offense [Music] [Music]
