[Music] hello guys welcome to the Adam schne YouTube channel SL podcast guess it's kind of a podcast not really but a little bit but um this is my first video on this channel um this is a true crime based channel so a lot of what we're going to be talking about is True Crime related or even just like stuff that is [ __ ] stupid that happens in society and the plan that we live on if you watch my other video uh the polar opsis podcast uh you'll notice that I'm in the same filming area and that's because this is the only place I can really film and also the place I'm only comfortable with filming so I'm in the exact same spot as my outer podcast which uh weekly We Do videos on Wednesday uh the first one actually just came out today so I'm really excited about that yeah I'm going to tell you guys a little bit about me real quick and then we'll get into the case that we're going to talk about today my name is Adam Schneider and I recently had just gotten into True Crime about a couple months ago I've been kind of like involved in True Crime stuff I love watching True Crime and just seeing like the victim side and the perpetrator side as well to uh True Crime cases is always in uh interested me and um yeah that's what we're going to do today and um one thing about this channel is is is that I always make it clear that there's no criticism or judgment on this channel or in the comments so if you want to put in the comments on you know your point of view on the case you can totally do that um just be respectful and be kind in the comments and don't be a [ __ ] [ __ ] we're going to get into today's case and this case I already did a couple of videos about it on Tik Tok but I didn't really um know much about about it I kind of just um put pieces together but I actually have a little bit more information about it so uh let's get into it today we're going to be talking about the case of Janelle Renee Matthews this was a case that happened a really long time ago 1984 to be exact and um I watched a documentary which I'm going to post a link below in the video in case you guys want to watch the full documentary I think it's a really good documentary because um it really goes into full detail of her story and I also think uh the people that were um involved in the case really um helped out a lot and so yeah I highly recommend watching it but let's get into Janelle Renee Matthew story jelle Rene Matthews was born on February 9th 1972 And she was born in the Santa Barbara California uh Cottage Hospital the place that she grew up in was greenle Colorado which is um from what I've seen is a beautiful place I've seen some photos um on Google Jan also had mother and her father the father's name was Jim and the mother's name was Gloria and she also had a sister as well and her name was Jennifer I thought about jenel was that she loved singing dancing um just any type of entertainment it's also uh really involved in the church that they went to which is uh really cool to hear about a lot of friends and she also likes AC as well so now we're going to talk about the incident with Jan know Matthew on December 20th 1984 and at 6:00 p.m. Janelle went to a bus for a Christmas choir that she was going to be a part of going to uh Janelle and the school apparently it was only a students only choir so the parents were allowed to go to the choir and so at 6 p.m. Janelle took the best and she went to her school the time she went to Franklin Middle School is where she was doing the choir the choir was done it ended and uh she needed a ride home so she uh talked to one of her friends who name was Dianna and her father Diana's dad uh decided to give Joelle a ride home to her house and so at 8:15 p.m. Joelle was at the house she was dropped at the house and that was about 8 8:15 p.m. at 9:30 p.m. uh her father came home and he came home and he didn't know that anyone was home at all he came in he said hello and he didn't get anything back from the house no one to his knowledge no one seemed like anyone was in the house during that time he went to the living room and their living room I'll try to put a photo or find a photo but their living room was a very standard living room couch table and TV and he noticed that the TV was still on when he went to the living room which obviously is kind of weird considering you know no one was in the house according to his knowledge as well is that the heater was still on so that was thing that he also thought was definitely a he then after that went upstairs to joelle's bedroom and he did not find her at this point Jo's dad is freaking out he just does not know where his daughter is and he's concerned and you know T was just left on and all this to him is definitely weird and so he decides to ask uh de Deanna's Dad if you know what happened and stuff and he said that he dropped her off at 8:15 p.m. at 11:00 p.m. Jo's father called the police and said that his daughter was missing and then at 11:15 p.m. the police R to the house and the detective that was working on this case in the beginning detective Robert cash said that during the day that they were searching the house on the day of that she disappeared they found absolutely nothing Disturbed or a Breakin or anything at all that seemed like a burgy or a robbery of course mostly with cases they always suspect that the family was involved maybe it was the father maybe it was the mother or anything like that and they were instantly cleared and and they had nothing to do with this and so at that point they reported a missing's report on Joelle Matthews and they s a $20,000 reward for anyone that knew where she was or if anyone had any idea as to any leads or tips or anything and by the end of 1985 a year later after she disappeared there was absolutely nothing new or anything that they discovered at that time the case began to go cold there was no Lee there is no new information that they found so for a while the kiss was cold and they just could not find anything and on December 20th of 1994 they held a memorial service in Janelle Matthews honor so now we're going to go to a person of interest that definitely was very very suspicious in this case we're going to talk about Steve Pinky and he was as far as I know he was considered a bad man in the neighborhood he was considered someone that you know you just don't want to be near or you don't want to be in his presence and just like a really sketchy not a good guy so in January 19th of 1985 a man named C peny reached out to the lead detective decided to ask detectives to share information about Joelle that might add to what he had he claimed that he had evidence of his own that could lead to where jelle was and so he decides to ask detectives for their evidence and he wants to see the evidence that they have for joelle's case according to him he said that he had positive evidence to prove that a Joelle was kidnapped and B she was dead another thing that he said which I just cannot believe is that he had the audacity to blame the church for her disappearance they he said that the church is sublim for her disapperance which I totally disagree especially when you hear all this Ed [ __ ] that he's done so years went by they had nothing new they had no new evidence anything years went by and there was absolutely nothing so in 2013 detective cash he was still working the case he decided to enlist a detective his name is detective p and he decided to help out the case in 2013 I started work on the case from 2013 and you know they were trying to find new stuff and then again this this case was decades old and there was just so much that did just did not found and this case was decades old and so they had no idea where where to look anything to find they they had absolutely no lease in this case now we're going to go to April 8th of 2019 so detective cash had his first conversation with C pinky about jela's case and this was years after the whole you know I have evidence give me your evidence conversation DET cash is that he was suspicious as [ __ ] he thought that he was definely suspicious and Dey was hiding something according to him he says that he was very Leery and very suspicious detective cash went to his house in April 8th 2019 and he goes to see panky's house he knocks on the door and then py opens opens the door and he says word for word I need a deal I need my lawyer and attorney present before I even speak to you and then that was whole conversation and obviously cash thinks that's weird and is definitely suspicious of detested cash 100% we're going to go to July 23rd of 2019 an oil company contacted the police sheriff's office and they were scrapping through the ground to prepare for their next pipeline project that they had on 2019 and when they were digging up the ground they noticed that there was a skull in the ground and so they contact the police saying that there's a skull here and it might be a person school so police sheriff's go to where uh the pipelines are and they find bones and they discovered that it was a human skull one thing that they noticed about this skull was is that it had Braes in it now one thing about Joelle is is that during before and during her uh disappearance she had braces on her teeth and so a lot of people were thinking that this could be joelle's uh skull The Remains were taken to a forensic analysis and they discovered that it was a positive match to draw Matthew's skull so and July 25th 2019 the family was contacted about the human skull and they told him that they confirmed that it was Joel's Matthews um skull and you know they were obviously shocked and very sad about it but they were also kind of relieved because they they found closure in the case and I think um that's um an important thing for the family August 11 2019 they did a second Memorial because they had uh the human goal and so they held a second memorial service virtuo so in August 15th of 2019 detective cash and PE drove down to twinfalls Idaho and py Steve py mailed a letter on August of 2013 to the district's attorney's office and they never received it according to what they say is that they claim that these letters that c pangy wrote and it claims that he had a strong Alibi 40 years ago so they went and met up with C pinky again CU he went to Idaho I guess I don't know why he was in Idaho but he was and C py immedately went to the uh place that he was at knocked on the door C P's open the door and he immediately says boom I need immunity and he also says which means I can't be prosecuted for anything that I might admit any crimes and so the detectives are just like what in the [ __ ] they're just like why is this guy just immedately just pulling the attorney card on him and it's just like this guy's so stupid decided to ask J's family if they had any idea as to who St pankies was or they had any idea as to who he might be related to and neither of them knew who he was so they decided to look into Steve P's history and they found out that he had an ex-wife and her name was Angela Hicks and they decided to contact her and talk to her and ask if she knew anything about C pank and boy she dropped all the [ __ ] all the [ __ ] tea she knew [ __ ] everything like she did not hold back in the slightest and so when they called uh Angela Hicks they call her and they say you know is this Angela hick she says yes and then they decide to ask her about questions about you know December 20th in 194 and she tells them why has it taken you so long to ask me about this they also found out that she had multiple conversations as well with the uh the police department and supposedly she sent in evidence for joelle's disappearance and they didn't recover that which I don't know where it is now she then decided to talk about conversations that her and PES had in the 1990s is what she said she mentioned how she felt like her blood started to get cold inside like she started to get chills and like creeps about conversations that they had during this time she started to really focus onto what C pensy was doing during the day and his movements and his schedule and start to really pay attention to what he was doing daily she thought that his whole schedule was suspicious and definitely um thought it was definitely out of the ordinary what he was doing and so they decided to ask her if she knew about Jo's appearance and if they knew her story and she said yes I know about her story then she decides to talk about December 21st of 1984 she was at her house just chilling out relaxing Steve comes in through the door under the 21st and he tells her that they're going to California for Christmas and so the next morning they start to drive to Big Bear which is a 20 hour drive which is sounds exhausting that sounds like the worst [ __ ] drive I've ever heard in my life and so they arrived to Steve's parents house for Christmas and they were definitely shocked to see them at their house they're just like what are you doing at our house we didn't expect you to come and he just says oh well was a last minute plan [ __ ] idiot and so they spent Christmas Eve and Christmas at his parents house after Christmas the 26th of December they decided to go back to greeny Colorado and this is something that she mentions as well which is definitely questionable what happened after this talk about the first thing first thing that happens is is that they're on their 20-hour drive and so he's driving and he decides to ask Angela to turn on the radio to see if anyone was talking about him on the news or if there was anything about specifically Joel Matthews and you know he didn't really hear much about the news about her and so you know he felt relieved about that and they decided to go a a [ __ ] grocery store and buy all the newspapers that had Janelle matthews's name on it clearly he was involved in some in some way so they get home and they go to home to their house and he tells Angel to go ahead and unpack the bags and you know get settled into the house instead of going into the house he decides to wear his overalls and start digging a grave which clearly first thing you think of is what the [ __ ] according to Andel he was out there for hours just digging into the ground and just digging a hole in the same spot and two days after they returned to um from their Christmas trip which should be about like the 28th or 29th she notices that the car is on fire the car is on fire just out and about on fire and you know she's worried she's just like our car's on fire we need to save our car and so this [ __ ] dumbass SE py decides to tell her to get back in the [ __ ] house and not worry about it and so the car's just burning up and it's just burning their car and not doing anything about it uh I think you're [ __ ] stup stupid putting all this evidence in here and all this [ __ ] that Andre has said they M are just thinking boom he's the one that's responsible for jah's disappearance September 13th 2019 detec us get a search warrant for Steve's house to see if there uh found anything suspicious or anything that could lead them to anything related to Joel and [ __ ] they found [ __ ] weird ass [ __ ] first off they found that he had three cell phones a Macbook a iPad 13 handguns and about according to them 1,00 documents and clearly when you're looking at this when you're in the house and you looking through all the [ __ ] that he has you're just like what the [ __ ] like no like no one has three phones 13 handguns and 1,00 documents like no normal person just has that in their house and another thing that they also noticed that he was doing which is [ __ ] sick sick he was looking up Janelle Renee Matthews daily on his Google search which is [ __ ] disgusting first of all I found out something El was disturbing according to them he was looking up BDSM porn images I don't know what that means I don't think I even want to know what that is but it's definitely something disturbing so it has to Define not only Andrea's evidence but also this evidence they were looking out for him they were going to make an arrest instantly because they knew that he was [ __ ] guilty they knew that he was the one responsible for this [ __ ] [ __ ] so on October 13th of 2020 they traveled back to Idaho and they arrested Steve Hanes for the murder and Abduction of Jano Renee Matthews see decided to take the stand during the trial which blows my [ __ ] mind Joel's and Joel's sister Jennifer in dockary she said that it was like 45 minutes of weird strange words according to her which you know sounds like a [ __ ] dumbass on trial on saming what I think and so he did not plead guilty to um the murder in the Dutch and general Matthews which you know I'm not surprised and during the trial detective uh Prill said that he made a timeline of 130 pages long and they had about 5,000 pages of data which oh my God could you imagine going through all of that 5,000 pages of data like I I can't even like I can't even do 10 and so on November 4th of 2021 the trial resulted in a hung jury which uh if you don't know what a hung jury means it basically means that no verdict was reached at all to them a 9 to3 in favor of conjunction on October 4th of 2022 prosec prosecutors came in with even more evidence against C Panky and this is so [ __ ] stupid I will never understand why he did this but they had information and evidence from a jail cellmate that said that he confess to murdering Jano Matthews so this is how the conversation went according to the S me in said you know I became close with cpes in the sense of a spiritual connection they prayed together and there was a point where C penies came to the ma and said I need to pray for forgiveness and the ma said forgiveness for what and then py looked to the ground and said that's between me and God and clearly clearly this is something about the guilt of murder buring jelle easily there's no [ __ ] denying so they did a second trial in 22 and C P's cousin which um went who was a part of the trial and took the stand in the second trial he said that he caught Steve on multiple instances parking outside of the school that Janelle went to by the way [ __ ] creepy like that is that's a [ __ ] creepy padophile [ __ ] [ __ ] as far as I'm concerned and Angela Hicks took the stand and she talked about you know everything that we just talked about and how her relationship with uh her and Steve hes was obviously um abusive best way to put it and so on October 31st of 2022 the jury came to a verdict and St P was guilty of second degrade kidnapping and murder and so C pangies received a 20 years of life sentence meaning that the earliest that he could get out of jail is in 2042 and at that time I think he'll be like in his 90 so he'll be an old ball sack as far as I'm concerned that's pretty much it there hasn't been anything new or anything else that they found um about Janelle or even about um cpy the fact that you can just take away a Minor's life is always just so cruel like I just the hardest cases for me to talk about are the minors because it's just like they just didn't get to live their lives they never got to experience things that a lot of people would go through and be excited about you know she couldn't get her license she couldn't you know get a job or have a career or possibly be a mother if she wanted to be one and it's just so sad that one person can just take that away from from someone it's just so [ __ ] disgusting so he's still in jail you know he's going to be rotting hopefully in jail and I hope he stay her for the rest of his [ __ ] life because I know that he deserves to get out in the slightest in my personal opinion so um yeah so that should do know Renee Matthews uh murder case I think um I think overall this case is really sad like I said if you want to watch the full documentary they do such an amazing job um I'll link the uh the video below cuz I think I think that their documentary on her story is really well done and I think it um I think it shows a lot of good highlight moments that they um that like the trial didn't really like recognize so I think um yeah I highly recommend watching that if you're interested in this case but yeah that was J Matthew's story and um I just hope that the family feels closure and can hopefully move on which I hate saying that cuz I just know like I just know for like for me personally it's really really hard to do that as a family to move on and accept the fact that your daughter's dead it's just so it's just heartbreaking I just can't you enjoyed this video uh leave a like subscribe if you want to see more um I'm going to upload daily or I keep on saying daily I'm going to upload weekly there we go I can actually speak English um and yeah um hope you guys have a great rest of your day take care of yourself stay well stay safe out there and have a great rest of your day bye [Music] y'all
