what we think we know about the 2024 college football season we got depth chart updat updates and is Connor stallan an American hero Camp is live right now it's Felix sharp Chris Moxley and Matt Bruning for campus canton.com hey support what it is that we're doing trying to push the college fantasy football format to the mainstream go ahead and like this video And subscribe to the channel if you want to support that mission uh Matt and Chris I had been waiting for this documentary on Conor stallions um since the news released that it was going to be coming out and I think I went in I I went in thinking one thing or really just wanting to know hey did this dude actually end up on the sidelines at Central Michigan but I came in thinking something else so I thought I would give you guys my take and you could react to it and of course my take is right and it's reasonable and rational um what do I think about Conor stallion so for those for those who who haven't kind of watched the documentary or understood parts of his story Conor stallions is from Michigan he's from Lake orian Michigan he grew up in that Lloyd Carr Bim Beckler era and always want wanted to be a Michigan football coach not a Michigan football player like he had come to the conclusion that he was too small to play so even as a child you see him in uh Michigan football coach GE like with the headset on and everything and it reminded me very much of the photographs that we saw of Tom Brady in Joe Montana's uh jerseyan helmet for Halloween those images reminded me really of that and I was thinking about this people are going to vilify Conor stallions they're going to call him a fanboy they're going to you know kind of demonize him but like how many people could have a goal or objective that lofty and like accomplish it how many of them could accomplish it in 100 lifetimes he said he wanted to be Michigan's football coach and to be honest with you you watch the documentary I'm I'm not convinced that he I mean I'm convinced that he actually would have gotten there had it not been for this he is um he went to the Naval Academy they don't just let people in the naval Naval Academy he went to the Marines after that and every by the way he went to the military because he saw that all of the coaches that he respected and looked up to had a military background so that's the only reason he went to the military and basically walked into coach and I cannot say coach's last name I can't pronounce it but the coach there at Navy walked into his office and said I'd like to be a student coach and then his career kind of took off from there and by the way that's what he was doing at Navy was code deciphering and he just got good at it but I think and this is the point where I'm G to get slammed for this but I think I'm absolutely right I think that there is very little separating the mentality that Conor stallions had towards becoming the Michigan football coach and that Kobe Bryant had and becoming the best basketball player that he could or Tom Brady or I even think some of the uh some of the the the folks that you guys will think are off The Rocker but they produced like Joe Jackson produced the the Jackson Five or uh what's uh what's what's John J yeah John Brown his son's equinus and amanra St Brown like we look at these people and we laugh at them and say they're off but I think it takes someone off to accomplish an objective that is that audacious I don't think that you can be just a normal person and reach that objective so there are people that are going to vilify Connor stallions out there but I tell you what I think most of us 99.5% of us if we had 100 lifetimes to do what he did to get to the place where he got to I don't think I think most of us wouldn't come close I don't think most of us would come close to coming going on staff at Bowling Green or Northwest Missouri State I just don't and so yeah could he have broken some rules absolutely and by the way the documentary doesn't clarify all of the points that you want to clarify but while Pat 40 and others are calling him a fanboy he was more than a fanboy he was someone who was obsessed with this particular goal and I think that we see Obsession in in some of the people that that we end up admiring and make it to the highest levels of their particular industry or profession that's my take on Conor stallion interesting take um I mean what what do they say Obsession beats Talent every time I was going to say that I think the difference between Kobe Bryant Tom Brady and stallions is they don't cheat Tom Brady did cheat I don't think Kobe ever did cheat so Tom Brady is admitted to deflating balls I believe like publicly so Tom Brady has technically cheated um I mean I don't necessarily disagree with the overall point if you're really that obsessed with something you want something that bad some people are willing to cross certain lines to make that happen I think when you say if we had a 100 lifetimes that we wouldn't get to where he got I think you're right because because there's I I this I don't even care if this sounds bad there's certain people who have integrity and they're not going to cross some line so I think a lot of people would not be willing to cross that line he was one of them and I think there's a lot of people that do uh who was it there was someone recently in college football a coach that said we all do it we all steal signs I think that there are ways that you can go about it that are legal and everybody does and I think he took it a little bit too far but again I don't NE I don't think he's aad B guy like I don't get the villainy for him I guess is it because he got caught doing something nobody else has ever done we don't know that nobody else has ever sat in the stands and videotaped another team's signs and stole them now I do think that we've never seen anybody go onto the sideline of another team and do that and didn't he get a play call or I I don't I don't I haven't watched it so I don't know exactly what happened to Central Michigan game but bu gu propaganda what do you mean no I don't think it's a bad thing I probably want you talking about Bucky fans are up in arms about this they want the national championship to be stripped I'm one of the few people I think who can openly admit that I don't think that really helped Michigan that much Michigan was a very good team they deserve the national championship they had last year I do not think that that changes anything I do not think that he's a I don't think he deserves to be a villain he just took it a little bit too far is what it is not like he like beat somebody or like he hit a student athlete or killed somebody he stole some signs he snuck onto the sideline get over it people we should have led this segment with uh just who is it given all the facts about the manifesto and their time in the University of Michigan and accomplishing their goals and being dejected from modern society because they didn't fit in and figured out which Michigan grad they were were speaking to um no I I mean I haven't watched the documentary but I I have seen what uh some reviews of it I it's basically from his perspective right so how much of the truth do you think you're getting out of this I think is is interesting because I I think it's probably all stallion's side to make it look very Rosy and if that I have not watched it but that's the impression that I get so if that is the case then I will have a more or that if that is not the case I will have a more informed take next week how about this I'll give everyone an assignment why don't you go if you're going to a college football game uh this year go ahead and tape the other team's signals now you can't do it because they're doing helmet communication and then tell me next week what that means it's not just a matter of getting the signals guys I I mean the dedication that it takes to only decipher it and then be informed enough to tell the coaches this is what's coming it takes another level of intensity and dedication to your craft and he was absolutely dedicated to his Craft um oh speaking of the dedic like he made a basically the equivalent of like Andy Reid's play call sheet he made a sheet of signals that he recognized that was his play call sheet but he ended up not even needing it because he memorized this sheet and you're talking about like thousands of signals thousands of signals this is this is a crazy person this is crazy person if he had made it like what's the difference between like him and Bill bich is like Bill bellich record's a huge billich is the coach well what's the it's success that's why bill bich is not a crazy person right because bill bich has the superl behind his name billich recorded signal practices he recorded practi he also went to he also served in in the military he also like all those things I'm asking this question in Earnest the only difference that separates Bill bich and somebody what what we're laughing at what we perceive of Conor stallions is Success because if we would have if we would have found this out 30 years later after Conor stallion's head coaching career we'd have been like oh that that's what it took to get there that's what it took to be the best I probably would still called him like a crazy person to be honest you do have to be crazy to to reach the heights of your profession no matter what you do you have to be kind of crazy person I mean if you ask most of the college football fan base they will tell you that Conor stallions is the reason for Michigan success so I would argue he at least has one National Championship so he's gonna get a ring is he not I I could have swore that he should by the way he was at he was at the Ohio State Michigan game that was revealed in the documentary and the national championship game he went to the he went to the the the game with the mask and everything which is easy to do because it's outside and he was he was covered though but he went onto the field after they rushed the field but people would call all of these people crazy Richard Williams the father of Serena and Venus Williams uh John Brown the father of of Joe incinia St Brown Joe Jackson the father of the Jackson Five like people would people would and have called all of those people crazy but to get to that level it probably took that mentality to get there that's all I'm saying that is my case for Conor stallions and by the way I've never been more right on a take that that I've uttered on this program never been more right Conor stallion the father of the Michigan coaching staff and players or I'm just you know as a father you can't see the connect you can't see the parallel between those two between those examples you can't you can't see the no I can't I can I just don't think the the inference is the same one the ear making I just disagree with the premise the the one thing that's interesting about that documentary no mention of going out girlfriend relationships none of that like it seems like everything that this dude had was dedicated towards accomplishing this objective by the way shout outs to the Troops because I'm glad it's somebody like that that's on the front lines of being a Marines to be honest with you there was watched part of that first episode I think you you misheard that part they were he had no dating life because he misinterprets signals out off the field on the field are you being are you being sincere or you is that a joke I'm joking I not oh okay I like is that for okay because that that ladies man I apologize Conor there's no way Connor goes out on dates there's no way he that's time taking away from studying the other team but you know who just said and and I'm sorry make fun of me if you want to you know who just said they don't go out all they do is football school and play with their girlfriend and play the video game Travis Hunter like that's what Travis Hunter was just talking about he said he doesn't like going out don't like doing stuff that's what he does is football school hangs out with his girlfriend and goes home and plays okay um let's move on to the news here you got a couple of what' you say said shador didn't say that no shador did notor very much likes very much likes he going out uh death taxes in this program hating the Colorado program the Colorado uh you got it got all right uh okay come come on let's get to fantasy football stuff we're at College fantasy football stuff uh show I think some of these headlines are relevant and Matt and Chris you tell me which of these you think is the most relevant and if there are others that you think we should discuss throw them out there too uh at Oregon State Giovanni McCoy named the starter over Ben go Branson he was a stat a standout for a couple of years at Idaho transferred to Oregon State uh at Iowa uh Kamari Molton is named the starter as a true freshman I don't remember if it's a true freshman or redir a red shirt freshman over lesea Williams and uh Caleb Johnson their offensive coordinator is Tim Lester who I used to watch at Western Michigan University in the 90s throwing the ball up to Tim Neil um true freshman Shamar Rigby is listed as a starter on Purdue dep chart doesn't have a lot of great comps according to the campus to Canton athletic database at Arizona Jeremiah patter who we I think we've talked about on this program before he made uh he is the starting slot wide receiver for Arizona could be filling in in that um Jacob coing role uh Nick Harbor for Chris moxley's Gamecock not starting at South Carolina tedo McMillan expected to play that's what I got guys which one is the most relevant go ahead Chris I'll let you go first if you believe that know if a is throwing for like 3500 yards or 4,000 yards I think Jeremiah Patterson could have a big year um transfer in uh I I think he's a good player he fills that Jacob coing role I was even reading on I think it was cats 247 um or whatever their Arizona side is is they keep mistaking him or like people keep mistaking him for Jacob cowing in practice same build same route running like that's a really good signed and I mean he was a transfer coming in so they had a lot of depth in that room well depending how you think about depth uh for me gvan McCoy and it's it's a little bit surprising too because I know a lot of people were kind of well I don't know if this was public this may have just been um a private thing there's a lot of talk about the Oregon State you know beat reporters um getting this wrong they've been pretty good over the past couple years I mean talking about how great Damen Martinez was when he was a freshman uh there was a lot of talk about um obviously everything with Aiden Charles and and the way DJ looked at time in practice there wasn't a lot of positive talk about giovan McCoy throughout all of fall Camp it was really Ben go Branson it was Ben go Branson and gabari Johnson now there are still reports that gabari Johnson is gonna get playing time which is interesting to me because him and Giovanni McCoy I think are very similar players so I'm just intrigued to to see how that works out I mean obviously it's a completely different coaching staff for the most part it's going to be a different offense but they have at least in my opinion a a decent schedule and playing all those Mountain West teams so I'm just going to be curious to see what that looks like with Giovani McCoy I was a big fan of gabari Johnson so I'm interested to see what he I mean I know you guys talked about what uh giovan's been able to do at the FCS level I mean gabari coming up through the high school ranks there P ran for a thousand yards I think it was his I know for sure his senior year it might have been his Junior and senior year in high school he is a fairly good athlete as well so like I'll be interested to see if he's able to steal that away from Giovani mccor if he holds that for the whole year and just what that Oregon State team looks like yeah um I think the one that I need to pull out is Nick Harbor I actually want to throw this out for a question also not starting for South Carolina a year ago people were very excited about the measurables that we knew I think that that kind of um exploded even more this off season because was trying out for the Olympics or he had those kind of elite uh track times at South Carolina 102 101 somewhere in there in the 100 meter dash I I've never thought that he was a wide receiver he does not move like a wide receiver like wide receivers are Twitchy athletes and he's very much not like a quick quick quick twitch athlete but Matt if you have Nick Harbor rostered in a C2C League what what are you what are you doing with him I mean at this point you're probably holding him I don't think that you can really if you want to move him I don't think that you'll be able to move him for much I know he's still got some name value but he hasn't I think done a ton to bring back probably at least what you paid for him last year in supplemental drafts I think he's going to have his moments this year again you mentioned he was doing a lot of that Olympic stuff early on he missed a lot of football from all the reports I think he'll get out on the field at some point there's going to be some it's going to be some game like Tennessee or Clemson and harbor is going to have some big play and everybody's going to be like har he's here because they're going to see him on national TV dudes and then at that point if you really don't believe in Harbor you flip him I I've agreed with you from the beginning I think we've talked even before he should have stayed at at uh on the defense he should not even have gone to offense so like he should have stayed as as a defensive Edge player if he goes to tight end whatever it is like I I I've always been I love the the player love the athlete I do think he is in that special category but I've always said I find it very hard to believe he's going to produce that one percentile that I think like his real outcome is for that so I'm waiting for him to make a couple big plays and then probably move him at that point at this point I don't think you can move him for much he was going so high in drafts that I didn't get a lot of him I do have him in a couple and it was really to as a matter of fact in the cff league because I just plugged him in to uh the tight end position because he has tight end eligibility but Chris can I even I mean are there they're probably 15 guys that you would rather have that are actual starting tight ends before you would put a backup wide receiver in that your tight end slot am I reading that right or would you start Nick Harbor at tight end and just hope that he gets you know some yardages and pots of touchdown or something I yeah I I tend to think that you can only really start him if you're desperate there there's a good chunk of gu guys that should should be above him the rotation there will be a rotation at South Carolina right like that is going to happen Gage larvan playing Jared Brown is playing transfer from Miami transfer from coast Carolina and Dy is Jacobs beat him out M they want to get maio Bennett run um true freshman coming in there I mean like it's a de deep room and I don't know how much salers is really going to throw for this year so like it's a tough position to navigate but I had been saying all off season that he's not going to start like that's just he missed all of spring training for track he comes in the fall and like I think he works hard and whatnot like this is an indictment of him as a player but like he just isn't technical enough and he's not spending enough time being a technician he he had these track aspirations but he was never going to make the Olympic team to be honest and like yes he runs track just I think he's trying to do too much if he really wants to be a receiver and I don't think that's his path he I like Chris saying that he's not spending enough time there because that might also to apply to uh deuce Robinson at us at USC so um Nick oh by the way I was misquoted on Campus Life today I tweeted about Nick Harbor after the dep chart news came out I said in a cff league I would wait one week to see if he's worth starting at tight end and then I would drop him in a cff league I would um okay uh I had an idea to do what do we know about the season or what do we think we know it really the inspiration from from it is Peter King of course now retired formerly of Sports Illustrated and NBC Sports what we think we know about the 2024 college football season so I don't know how we want to start this off I've got I probably got more than 20 because I just kept writing but um I'm interested to hear yours I don't know how to do this Matthew I mean we could just go you know one by one I'm I'm just going to like I'm just going to preempt this right now misunderstood the assignment I thought this was like what I expect from the college football season I did put some like bold Tes in there as well that's the same that's the same that's the same I only have 20 because I'm gon be honest I found it hard to get to that like I was something like okay like what uh I was trying to make him some realistic there are like I said I do have some bold ones in there some nostal I have one nostalgic one as well just a just a throwback to the good old debut debate days but um yeah like just in previous Seasons like you would have known that uh Kyle McCord is gonna win the Heisman like I I was high on uh Hunter Deckers at Iowa State I mean you know what do we think we know about the season that's in PR it's you got it it's about to same so I mean it's probably easiest way you give one Chris gives one I give one we go back to you we just give until we get through all of ours if you've got more then you can give the rest of yours I don't know how many Chris has I have 20 I I put 20 down exactly all right go ahead yeah go ahead you're supposed to start it off I said Felix Chris oh I'm starting it off oh okay my bad okay um I I think I know that at NC State Robert and I is going to use the athletic use and abuse the athletic tight end he thinks it's a mismatch a a match excuse me a matchup mismatch I don't know why I can't say that and so I think Justin Jolie is headed for you know another breakout 700 plus yard um season in 2024 do we if like if we had something should we chime in on these or yeah that you do okay cool cool cool I don't have anything I was just clarifying because like I feel like I will at some point disagree with something you say so like I just want to clarify if I can jump in go ahead Chris I think you're gonna agree with all of them to be honest with you these aren't hot takes it's like what I actually think I believe you know what I me I know you guys will not agree I know for sure there's one you will definitely disagree on um possibly two or three okay uh mine is that Colorado is a very very much improved team over last year significantly so you mean like Bowl eligible improved or how improved yeah I think they could good bowling this year really okay I don't think it's out the question not not at all um I think this team is significantly better I really do I I still worry about injuries and stuff but this this team if they're healthy I really like I do not like they're not gonna win like eight games but like I think they could be good the the biggest question for Colorado would be well from like from a fantasy perspective would be the offensive line because we saw shador Sanders get beat up late in the season and he is a guy that likes to hold on to the ball do you think that the offensive line is going to be improved enough for him to look what he looked like you know at at the start of the season I think it will um I think it'll thin out really quick though uh so like there's I think the floor on Colorado could always be really bad I that always exists with the type of program that Dion is inevitably going to run I think I know that uh Miami and cam Ward are going to have a top 15 offense in college football this year cam morg will finish as the top 10 cff asset doubling down baby doubling down okay we're gonna do this for all of them huh so so I we we were excited about even one of the bad ones I thought that was a good one was cam Ward top 15 last year uh he was definitely top 20 I don't know if he was top 15 it might depend on your scoring format because he's not a like a huge rusher he doesn't run yeah so okay mat I just have a problem with you projecting Mario crystal ball for like Elite fantasy production especially given that he has he has Damen Martinez in the backfield like I feel like Mario crystal balls let's give it to this guy 40 times a game I said top 15 offense which includes the rushing they have a great offensive line I do think that they will run the ball a lot but I don't necessarily know that I believe this if you go through like all of these college reporters and everything else they're all talking about how Mario Chris is already on the hot seat so if that's the case I think he will allow the offense to be opened up a little bit more they go get Cam where I actually think they have a pretty good wide receiver core as well like Sam Brown's what their third or fourth guy and I don't think he's a horrible wide receiver I think you know Restrepo can be really good for them this year so I think that this offense will be better they let Marcus Mariota throw the ball more than people think he did so like I I granted oh no no no no that was was that Chip Kelly or was that crystal ball now I'm I'm getting confused that was Chip Kelly wasn't it it was Herbert the I think first yeah yeah year before he declared was okay and he and he did not let Herbert throw the ball down the field so I'm I misremember that but I I think that it's going to be a more open offense that people give it credit for people change oh is it's your turn uh it's my turn um I think that KJ Jefferson is probably the best Gus melon style quarterback that Gus moan has had since Cam Newton and so for that reason I think that he like KJ Jefferson could be putting up 28 plus points a game if he's healthy healthy is a problem because his his play style also lends itself to getting beat up but Gus Maan loves that style of quarterback and you know John rice Plum Le probably more explosive of of an athlete but putting it all together you know our quarterback being used as a fullback on the goal line all that stuff I think that g Gus mil on KJ Jefferson match made in heaven you think he's better than Nick Marsh wasn't Nick Marsh a cornerback so I hope so yeah hope so not better than Thomas ctios though I wish we could have seen Thomas ctios in this didn't Nick Marsh almost won a national champion show Championship though I I don't remember I'm almost they almost did who was the running back on those teams because I'm trying to remember um there was a running back thought was gonna be good it's gonna frustrate post car on Johnson pre it was pre was pretty car it was like dwire or something like that I I I'll remember it here I'll remember okay go ahead MOX um mine is I just acent closed out my sheet sorry uh I think Ruckers has the best team they've had in the Greg sh since Greg Shana 1.0 um they they lost a linebacker last week that was kind of tough but I I think Ruckers is so much better where than where they were 10 years ago like so so much better this is this is a team that's pretty good with a really good schedule so if Ruckers wins eight games I don't think that's totally out of question Michael Dyer that's what I'm thinking of Michael Dyer remember Michael Dyer at aror yeah I remember Cameron arst Payne I don't remember Michael Dyer it's my turn now sorry uh unless you have a Rucker's take I'm guessing you don't have a Rucker's take no no this one um or I I how do we word this againin I think I forgot how this is I think nobody's gonna help me out okay cool Oregon is gonna Oregon is the best team in the Big 10 I don't I don't I I don't necessarily disagree with that I do want to see what that offense looks like once it gets cold and they play some cold weather games but I don't necessarily disagree with that to 10 offensive line is that correct top 10 offensive line at worst Oregon top 10 offensive line at worse Jordan James in the backfield Noah Whittington I think they'll be just fine handing that ball off I really do if I have a if I have a take that disagrees with a previously said take can I can I share that at the time yeah go ahead I think the best team in the country plays in Ohio I think Ohio state is the best team in the country Cincinnati Bearcats getting some love oh my bad you're talking about the Ohio State blackc I CH how bad here's so here here's here's why I disagree with you I don't think the offensive Line's there I don't think the quarterback's there and I I think the defense is comparable that's just my opinion so I'm I I lean what do you give Ohio State I think defense is equal you give Ohio State wide receivers that's it and running backs they got and they got two good ones at orgon I had an Ohio also go go ahead I I'm just saying I think Ohio state has the most complete roster top top to bottom um in the country even though I don't like will Howard I I agree and my take was they might they may not pass this year I mean I'm saying that figuratively as opposed to literally but I think that this is a team with a chip on its shoulder like that 2000 whatever Patriots team remember Patriots team had Spygate and then the next year they ran through everybody I mean they were calling timeout up by like 28 points with less than two minutes left and because they they were and I feel like this could be that type of team for Ohio State this year but they want to show people that they're physical like I thought I think they brought in uh Seth henigan and will Howard and quinon Judkins and uh the safety I think that they oh the the casmer the tight end from Ohio I think that they brought in all those guys to show that we can punch people in the face and it's like it's personal so I can see this team being like the way that um that Penn State Michigan game was in the second half and I'm not I'm I'm saying that we could see Ohio State be like okay bet we're gonna be physical this year you're you're muted Matt you're muted my mouse died well that's not good I'm have to use my uh so I don't disagree with you clearly that this team was a finesse team for the past couple years that's what Ryan Day wanted and they've moved to a more physical team my biggest concern with what you just said is I think in those games for instance like Oregon where they have to go to Eugene which will be a tough game granted Dan Landing has not won the big game yet either so I I don't think you can give either one of them like an edge here but we've just seen in those big games Ryan day is kind of puckered up in the moment moment and and not like in that for instance that Georgia game if you go back to that last Drive CJ stad was just destroying that Georgia defense using his legs using his arm and when they got down into the Red Zone what did they do he puckered up he called three straight runs got knocked out of field goal range and then they miss the field goal to go into the national championship yes yeah I forgot that's what I worry about with that Ohio because also if you go back to Chip Kelly's era to go look at that Oregon national championship game against Ohio State he went away from what he did with he plays not to lose sometimes as opposed to playing to win I've never even though Dan Landing has not won that game I have not seen Dan Landing do that in that game against Washington they went they went for a fourth and one in their own territory and it was only down three in that game Dan lenning is not from what I've seen Dan Landing has not coach scared now he has not won the big game either so it's a fair knock on him but that's kind of my that's not his personality either to coach SC it's not no it's not okay who are we on who are we on Chris now because you you you gave your Ohio State one so now it's back to Chris okay um I think we know that college football is building parody in the sport and eliminating super teams I think the teams of like three years ago are potentially going to be impossible to build at this point um the nil situation at the top 15 schools 20 schools it's not necessarily comparable but it's good enough where you can poach guys that you wouldn't normally get like missou is doing a great job of keeping instate Talent um you know there's a lot of good Memphis is doing a great job they're G5 but like they're they're an example of teams who have resources and so I think you're going to see a lot parity coming forward than we've ever seen at the sport at the top um I think it'll get worse for the the G5 yeah yeah I agree with the G5 part uh so my next one uh I think that jayen mava will start at least five games this year for USC hey you're not g i mean I got Jaden Maya is like quarterback 22 so uh you don't hear any qualms from me on that one I think that at Central Michigan Mount Pleasant stand up Joe lieus is going to have us watching maxan again this year it's going to be excited Max the last last year like two years ago or three years ago we had C pimpleton I feel like C pimpleton was like must watch maxtion television and there have been other players in the TR Trayvon Rudolph a couple of that feels like it was five years ago now but J Patterson rushing for like eight touchdowns in a game absolutely yeah and then and then not getting the record remember uh because uh what's his name Kansas now didn't realize he was that close yeah Lio didn't realize he was that close to the record pulls him from the game um so uh yeah I think that Joe lius by the way I went back and watched the 2022 Music City bold music liberally Bowl what against Kentucky yes he went 14 for 24 in that game he only had like a 197 yards or so but he looked I mean that was his first start he looked poised he looked like a power five quarterback at least on the scripted stuff and he can run a little bit and he can run a little bit so give me Joe Leo Central Michigan Soaring Eagle Casino stand up uh we'll watching match again this year I'll I'll stick with my maction one then um I think the Mac finally becomes recognized as the worst conference in the country I think some of the football being played in the Mac right now is is pretty terrible um I think the southern conferences have actually made a really big jump with with some of the teams um especially pulling out from the FCS like James Madison was an immediate hit in Sun Belt so I I think the Mac is is is some pretty bad football and I think people are finally going to catch on that it's not your your fun action anymore I don't have any match and take so I'm going to stick in the in the Big 10 for the moment uh I think that Drew all is going to remind us this year why we all fell in love with him as a recruit I think that and Andy cotal Nikki is actually going to get the best out of him this Year all right here's number I have this number 13 on my list this is my Drew take uh I don't think Drew has a weapon around him to build on last season's uh initial production like that's my problem with Drew So and I've made the comparison before between Josh Allen with the bills and uh and Drew Josh Allen that first season that first season with the bills do people remember him throwing it up to Triple coverage to a fullback on a wheel route like what what's going on here uh and then they went and got Stefan Diggs they got um not Brennan stokeley but the the other white slide wide receiver Cole Beasley yeah yeah Cole Beasley they went and got like other weapons they got James Cook Out Of The Back Field you know Penn State just hasn't done that they haven't surrounded Drew Aller with talent and so I think that we're looking at Drew all going into 2024 like he might take a step but I think that he's on a Drew Aller career Arc so that's my that's my drewal take MOX on you I don't have one uh for Penn State um we're going to find out what the NFL thinks of onedimensional receivers this season my mind immediately comes to Baran Brown and zachari Branch unless either of these two players develop I think we G get a real good test case on can you be extreme like it's kind of like what w Del Robinson was to be honest but like can can you Emer can you emerge as a valuable NL player a legitimate Dey asset for some of these onedimensional players I don't know the answer is yes but I'd like to know yeah yeah good who's more developed at this point Baran brown or Zachariah Branch I'd say brown but like I don't think Brown it's it's brown we haven't seen enough of Branch to know and the reports out of his Camp were not glowing at all so right and and I hate to say I mean I think branch is probably listed as a better Athlete on on campus to.com but like we haven't even seen him be that dynamic in returning kicks like we have Barry and brown I mean yeah he has he has he's not been Barry and brown Barry and brown has been that's what I'm saying like he hasn't been that dyamic years yeah so that's like if you're saying one of those guys is going to go to the NFL I'm leaning brown right now because of that by the way I feel like my take that Barry and brown as a potential first round draft pick is like getting laughed at I'm literally getting mocked and ridiculed for that take when the dude is by Austin he's the like we we've seen this before it's Ted G we have seen this before he's gonna go run a 4-3 flaty Tavon some GM is gonna be enamored with him and he's gonna get taken the top 32 picks of the draft look I do think he's gonna go first round but just Playing devil's devil's advocate here since Austin is not here who's the last guy though that did that that went first round was it John Ross like because you said mention Tavon Austin and Ted G that was like a different NFL era than what we've seen over the past couple years so I mean who is the last guy that those same owners own the teams though same own Tony tonon those same people still own the teams that own them when Ted gin was playing when Trayvon Austin Tavon Austin true or their Neo baby child who has never had to work for anything which is worse right that is true uh I think I know that Aiden Charles is going to take Michigan State Bowling this year bet the over what's their team what's their line four I think four I'm pretty sure wow they don't they don't like those Spartans this year no okay um I think that Bobby patrino is still a good offensive coordinator Brian he had the Brian Brum age he had the Ryan Mallet age and he had the Lamar Jackson age I think in 2024 he's going to have the tail and green age I really hope so because I've got a lot of tail and green so I think Bobby patrino oh B wait nobody responded to my text message about ranking these legendary college football controversy stories how do we rank Bobby patrino on the on the uh subject here Bobby patrino on the motorcycle Conor stallions what was the other one there was the third one oh here I'll pull it up what did you put I don't have it on my text I'd like like ta's girlfriend so for me yes yes I'll I'll rake them for you for me it's m Tao because that was like Peak me being a college football fan everything going on at that time then probably Connor stallions I don't remember much about the Bobby patrino thing so like it would be third for me I remember I think it's p I think it's patrino second and I would like to add a submission um for the uh uh the polar assassin monkeys situation oh that was a good one too that probably too you don't remember pole assassin to the monkey with Texas Steve sarkeesian's first year where a monkey attacked one of the students the assistant coach was dating a stripper and she had a pet monkey and it attacked somebody on Halloween her name was assassin you remember there a Halloween thing yeah yeah yeah no I gotta go I'm gonna go Google this your boy Josh P had like episodes upon episodes about this pole assassin and no I don't remember that at all yeah um that was a good one that's a good one Mox that was one of the best social media College I don't remember I don't how we were doing so's only been the head coach since we've been on it was his first season it kind of got it yeah it got buried we definitely talked about it on here oh we talked about it on here it got buried because almost right after that happened they had the incident I think it was with the offensive line coach or whatever on the bus where he was csing and yelling and one of the people recorded it and then that became a big thing but like the pole assassin thing was like big for like two weeks they still make jokes about it on on cover three all the time I don't they have a whole segment dedicated to it yeah yeah they they talk about all the time chip references pole assassin all the time I should say all those are going over my head then I guess yeah okay I I can't believe I just can't believe that you never heard of Po this just this is insane no no I thought you were gonna say uh Tennessee and the McDonald's McDonald bag that was that was a good one too yeah another good one is uh Nick Sabin and I will know I will not be the next head coach at Alabama that's a good one yeah uh on the tail and green thing real quick though I'm just worried because of that schedule they they have a tough tough schedule yeah it's SCC well if it's not Tay green it could be Malachi Singleton so I'm sure you have the Malachi Singleton chairs too he's he's probably probably all right who's up M I think it's Chris yeah um so I was actually bring this one up earlier when we talk about Nick Harbor mine was I think we know Nick haror made a mistake playing wide receiver yeah yeah we've said that since wases the beginning we said that we said that he wanted to run track he couldn't beef up to Edge so sometimes you watch a player's tape and then you watch them in college and you go back all right am I seeing the same thing the same body movement and all that fluidity like yep it's the same it's the same thing so um this goes to our earlier discussion but I think um the reason Ohio State falters this year is because of the quarterback position really yeah I I do not I mean we've talked a lot mean Felix you and me have talked about this for years and and it's still something I don't think people realize with Ryan day and they're rushing the quarterback he said in his press conference today we will have some scripted QB runs yet everybody is out here talking about because chip Kelly's there Howard's going to run all the time it's just not going to happen people and I yeah he said and I will pull up I actually have someone sent me a text of it he said I will pull up the exact quote if you guys would like of what I just assume that that's the reason he was brought there is to be I they will have scripted and designed runs planned each week but it will be dependent on their opponent that is what he said yeah I still I think they when you're talking about running with the quarterback you get Plus numbers in your offensive line you can block everybody up they want to play physically like it makes sense for let's get this 6'4 240lb guy slamming into the back of this line that's why we went and got this Center that's why we went and got this big ass tight end that's what we're gonna play that's what I think though I just I just think he's going going to be the reason why they they fall so you but you think the offense is going to look more the same as it's looked in previous Seasons or yes more different I would I'll have to go look at how many times because I know Justin Fields ran less than Trevor Lawrence did in their college football careis I would imagine it's going to be less than what Justin fields did at Ohio State because there was a couple games where Justin Fields took off I'm telling you I do not think I know everybody keeps saying that Chip Kelly is there and it's going to be his offense but like every time you hear Ryan day talk about my offense and like I just he's not a guy I think that's willing to give the Reigns over he's not when it comes down to it just you watch sque when it gets to squeaky when it gets to squeaky bum time he's gonna start calling those plays and he's gonna get conservative yeah you never heard of squeaky bum time when it's like you know really tight game Chris you don't know what to do squeaky but you mean tight what are you talking about it's a soccer it's a soccer reference I didn't want to go too far and Austin get upset with me now I got I got listen toy when it gets to Crunch nobody gets that your butthole clenches up that's what it's means yes that's what we say but squeaky nobody call trying to keep it clean because last time I made sounds like something sounds like something Austin gets all mad at me so you know all right Chris I want to get your take on this because you lean cff heavy so I've got Josh Hoover at TCU quarterback at TCU he's locked in for a top 15 uh quarterback season and based on those last five games he averaged 43.6 attempts per game now he doesn't run so he would have to lean on volume and I'm saying that he's gonna have that volume he finishes as a top 15 locked in top 15 cff quarterback I don't hate it I like coer a lot this year actually I'm I'm a big fan of his uh but I've seen some push back from TCU uh be reporters on how good the offense is going to be this year so I guess we'll find out um I got I'll just I'll be topical on this one Miami has a better season in squeaky bum time because Mario hired a a uh late game coach coordinator because they hir management time management a time management coordinator so he's not gonna he's not gonna run the ball when you're supposed to be kneeling it to close out a game in squeaky bum time in squeaky bum time baby all right this one is a little bit of a a hot take uh Danny O'Neal will not only lead the Mountain West imp passing yards this year but be considered the best freshman of the season I had that one down too do you really all right not the second part but the first part yeah okay I just don't think that many freshman quarterbacks Play It's really G to be between him and Dylan rayol and I think the best freshman in the country you know what I'll stick with best freshman in the country because he's only GNA competing with Jeremiah Smith and I think he will well I have one for Jeremiah Smith so I don't know if Danny O'Neal runs the ball but I was assum in Sean leis offense that he does okay all right so he might need to be picked up so okay all right uh I guess it's on me I think in 2024 Louisville is going to be a super aggressive vertical passing game and that Tyler shook is going to um capture some draft Capital that we were not expecting coming into the season what do you what you mean like day three guy no he means like third fourth round fourth round I'll take fourth round third round seems a little bit much I mean he was getting projected as a first round guy back in his Oregon days I mean I do remember that listen the gifts have not left they just been diminished by injury yeah yeah but I think he's going to be protected this season and he's got two trees on the outside Jak Cory Brooks and Chris Bell they lose uh Colin Lacy like I think that would have been a safety blanket for him so now I mean schematically it almost behooves them to throw the ball to the outside they also have Mark Redmond in the uh at tight end there so maybe Redmond can get some of the targets that Lacy was going to get but I think that they're going to go outside I uh I like that um I like I like I kind of like the Louisville offense this year even though their receivers are a little bit down um so I'm gonna go to sha Lewis's old team and tell you that we know Chris Shan we think we know chrishan McCrae is gonna lead the mack in all purpose yards chrishan McCrae the he's a running back wide receiver hybrid yeah K State pretty much but I don't remember if he has running back eligibility like I feel like think I don't believe he does but he um I mean he ran for like 1300 yards in high school he caught 1600 yards in high school like he he's a he's like the chess piece kind of player hey another reason to watch maxtion this year another reason to watch maxtion I'm trying to decide if I should give my hot take one that I know is gonna get Felix going or I'll save that one for a minute um I I think that Billy Napier will be fired by week eight or week nine yeah called last year we've called him last year head coach Billy Napier that's what we call him on this I mean In fairness we've been saying that he was not gonna survive at Florida for the past years we were right about Josh gtis at Miami and we knew as soon as Billy neier was hired that he was gonna be fired uh yeah so it's on Bel there we go he could probably just go reprise his role at at the at Louisiana would take him back I don't know that they like desarro yeah I've Got That Rock OBET is going to have a great 2024 and here's why because he's the type of quarterback that gets better with age so in 20123 his first year rockle Beck is a game manager and I don't think that that's a pejorative i g he's a game manager and that he makes good decisions in 2023 we saw him make good conservative decisions I think in 2024 we'll see him make good aggressive downfield decisions and we will see his game evolve and you guys will like him more because he will get more comfortable with what he can get away with uh as he you know learns the game so he's the type of Tom Brady was this way somebody like uh who's the who's the the what's the Ia Iowa State's quarterback's name that plays for the 49ers now birie Brock P yeah Brock P Brock py will see that way like there are some of these guys who are game managers and you see as they get more comfortable uh Ben rothberger his game was a little bit different because he he went from running the ball aggressively and then his game kind of evolved later in his career when he got Antonio Brown and um uh Mike Wallace and those guys so um but yeah I think that we'll see rockle Beck's game evolve because he's getting comfortable I think we find out that this is the worst quarterback class since the howl Willis class and I'm not sure it'll be close I just Carson like listen I don't love Carson Beck I do think he's the best quarterback in this class I do think he's a case to be a top 10 pick but if Carson Beck is your best and then number two is Highly Questionable not a great quarterback class I mean I have a quarterback one with Carson back so I'll just stick with it uh I think that Quinn ERS will produce better stats than than Carson Beck maybe all right here's my my Quinn 's take my Quinn 's take is Quinn 's game being dynamic means that he's hitting some of these wide receivers that are wide open deep that is what will take him to the next level what will get me to buy in is when he has some of these layups deep with five or six yards of Separation Isaiah Bond jonte cook those guys can create that separation deep that is when I will believe that he's a first round Talent until then he's he's he's not he's not so that's my take on on Quint eers can we discuss Quin really quick or Texas in general did you see the message board genius thing I'm sure Chris did did you not see it either Chris uh I don't know did I all so Felix Felix will love this there's a you know Message Board Geniuses they tweet out all this stuff about Message Board stuff we talk about it quite often or I know Chris and I have talked about we think it's one of the best things about football there was a person who posted on the Texas A&M Message Board um proving that their Source in the past about something that was proved to be right he said so my source is good works in the Texas locker room whatever said to him recently this was posted like eight hours ago something like that that the locker room is completely split and that they think Texas is going to fall apart this year because Steve sarkeesian is struggling with things off the field again that he dealt with earlier and that's why he's getting a divorce he's got a lot of things going on off the field and he is not paying attention to what's going on in the locker room most of the players apparently support a different quarterback than the one that is starting and it's going to cause a riot that's just what you're just repeating Texas A&M propaganda that's exactly what a SCE that detailed that knows what's going on in Steve saran's house in the locker room I mean this guy Source like the athletic director or something I'm just let you know I'm just letting you know what message for genius has said man I'm just letting you know it's out there okay okay okay uh I've got one mox's turn you just read yours qu yours turn sorry um I think H I think we find out that a quarterback Heisman is not an quarterback quarterback only award and a non-quarterback has invited to New York I thought you gonna go like real hot take um I I think it's gonna be running back and I think it's either gonna be Ashton Jey or Ole Gordon oh oh Ashton gent Ashton Genty going to New York would be such a big deal for us would be such a big deal for us so I there's no chance a non-quarterback wins this doesn't win this award um or I think with Jey he has just enough name recognition yeah to like I think he's already getting talk in NFL circles yeah so I think there's some voter buys there that a non a regular G5 player wouldn't have I think it's G to be very very difficult to get him there just saying but I think I think him or Gordon do have a chance to go it's just such a weird year for the Heisman almost like the devont Smith year winning it yeah there someone called on this show by the way and was ridiculed for that by the way um anyways uh mine I think by the end of it was me because you tried to tell me that Devonte Smith was like the odds on favor to win and I went back and pulled the article that showed that he was like sixth on the list of best OD at the at the time he was one of the odds on favorites to win was the sixth best odds on to win it I pulled the he was having he was having a ridiculous season just at that point like I said wide receivers had had not won it since was the last Matt took a front runner there's no news here five star Felix over here calling me the front runner all right my next one I think by the end of the season we will be talking about Nico being by far the best quarterback in the SEC you're muted I don't I have a Tennessee one but I have another one that I haven't gotten to read yet so can I do two can I just do two back to back really quick I want to do my Tennessee one since you Tennesse Tennessee will get more of the henden hooker offense than the Joe Milton style offense um and they go back to having Elite fantasy options at wide receiver in Brazzle and squirrel white that's my Tennesse take and then my other take that I wanted to read is I think Washington State in 2024 could be very similar to uh Western Kentucky 2021 similar similar I I have a similar take that one's out there for for me but I have a take kind of like that I think the next Western Kentucky Texas State FCS to FBS jump is happening in UTEP this year oh you're you're UTEP miners weren't you in on them last year too sim a Austin P's basically entire offense is coming to UT and I don't think it's going to be to the same extent but I do think it's going to be the best example that we have in 2024 okay I don't think I can name a single player on on uh on utep's roster right now I don't think I can name a sing player okay Matthew couldn't either check him out oh no I I was trying to think of I almost played with I was almost going to play with them on the dynasty leag that I joined with uh the guys from South Haron and I didn't so I was trying to think if I could remember anybody on that roster I can not will not lie let's get everybody do one more what no I have a bunch I want to run through all mine you do oh I want to get through all mine I thought that we were getting close 20 I thought we were getting close to 20 that's oh no I still have save everybody I like have like half a list for Chris your list we haven't done that many we've done a lot of like discussing each others um my next one I think that uh Jackson Arnold is going to show us just how average he is and drop out of the top quarterback rankings for us starting next year sorry Nate I had a jack Nate Knows by the way Nate's the one leading not leading this campaign yeah he he's Nate's fully aware I just I keep hearing all this talk about how he's so I've said from when we tried to make him the number one cor like I just don't think he's that good he's just not average I had a similar Jackson Arnold Tak and I can't oh I think Jackson Arnold I I said I'm anxious about the camp reports and I I'm thinking that he might be taking as DJ weal La slide like Jackson Arnold Andrew Aller make me really really Irving so I I almost added a second part in there but I wanted to you know calm down the hot take a little bit I was almost gonna say that we see Michael Hawkins starting at some point at the end of the year oh he's got a hot name right now I think the take that you should have is that because Drew Aller and Jackson Arnold fall Lenor C as being like a top three quarterback consensus I have I have a I have a good not a sellers one but I have a different one you want me to just go with it I mean we're free we're free okay fine I think because of the Falls of guys like um I think I put because I think Kate kumnick comes back let me let me pull back up what I have um drew Jackson Arnold and Kate kumnick fall I think we see three current freshman outside the top 25 jump up into the top 15 next year Daniel luk choman H and I forgot who the third one is now I trying to pull my rankings back up that's a little too much Danny O'Neal Hy for me I got to get off the train gotta be all in baby gotta be all in who's the third one what have you seen a Danny odal that you just love that much I just like to oh CJ Carr CJ Carr was the third one because I think carj car is not gonna play this year okay all right yes he will Riley Leonard all right hey look I told you I was going to bring some spicy ones that's one of that was one of the more spicy ones okay MOX you want to go or you want me to go um I have one more that I feel good about I've got a bunch I'll just read all mine if you want go have you can you can read them all off everyone I spent a lot of time on them man I sat you know go ahead I'm giving you no I want you to go first I'll give mine after the fact I just know I spent a lot of time my M I worked hard I think we find out that the best quarterback in the SEC is playing at LSU for the second year in a row oh I just dropped him in a league nire yeah I mean it's it's a one quarterback cff League So and I've got I've got green in sellers so the best I've got green and sellers he dropped I dropped n one quarterback League it's like it's a five bench League this is the guy who has Lenor Lenor sellers is like again remember who you're talking to Chris wait wait wait so you're saying I should keep nus me and drop sellers yes very much so I got sellers starting this week if it's a cff league I think I actually kind of agree with Mo C2C you never agree with me first of all no I I have sellers ranked just as high as you do but I'm talking C I'm the low I do not think the sellers has that kind of year I think nire could legitimately throw 4,4 plus touchdowns couldn't Lenor sers have 600 yards rushing in eight touchdowns yeah but I I don't think that he goes anywhere near that passing I like two we just saw we just saw Devin damp here do nothing and have 20 points do virtually nothing and have 20 points in that game right but I think that like that's I think that you're hoping that Lenoris sers does that every couple weeks I think Nar could be 30 plus every week I think that's what Chris is saying with Jaden Daniels type thing as well especially with how bad that defense is they're going to be yeah okay but okay would you start nus meire over Garrett green though no you wouldn't you wouldn't uh you would not start Garrett nus over Garrett green it do even matter he this this week who does West Virginia have this wait wait you're saying that yeah Penn State yeah I would I would not now I see why you're that's why you don't have starting yeah and they get Old Dominion they're like 21 and a half Point favorite or something oh okay do you want to read one of yours Felix I'm trying to see have one two three I've got more I mean I can I've got eight I've got eight I didn't read these in order so let me you just gonna read all I yeah I'll just go through and run through the ones that I have that I haven't read I think cavor and Barnes is a day two NFL draft pick I've got uh CES CES at BO State yeah we have whatever yes let me go through them Matt I'm just I'm gonna forget them so I want to react as you read okay okay I got cavian Barnes as a day2 NFL draft pick I've got uh CES uh I don't Cel at Boise State he's the leading wide receiver for Boise State this year over bolt over stra yep uh I think cam rising and brt keithy will lead Utah to the Big 12 Championship um I think this could be Deion Sanders last year at Colorado Kaden Fegan is breaking out in 20124 did that uh Georgia doesn't have a top WI receiver but they have a good rotation of at least six deep there's not one guy that you want to roster uh speaking of Georgia Georgia is the worst opening OPP opponent for a Clemson team that's trying to reestablish itself as an elite program and definitely an elite offense Victor Rosa and there's Victor Rosa the Yukon backs Victor Rosa is the he'll be a junior this year a true Junior and then there's another one I forgot his name but I actually like both of those guys I wish it's cam something I wish they were not at Yukon and they were not sharing a backfield um I love Brennan storby this year I love I know I love Brenan sarsby at Cincinnati the quarterback there at Cincinnati I think I know that we want Kirk signet's quarterback whoever it is but I wonder if 2024 is that year or do we have to wait until 2025 Kirk Kirk cetti at Indiana all right that's all I got Matt those are the last ones I had all right I was trying to pull up Yukon really quick so we can see who this running back is you were talking about and you are talking about remember Cameron Edwards yeah it is that sounds right yeah okay is he the big the big the big guy they're both the same size they're both like 210 511 210 they're both yeah all right I'm reading reading the rest of mine all right Conor wigman will lead the agies to the playoffs and be a first round pick or I think I know that Conor wigman will lead the ausa playoffs and be a first round pick uh I think I know that Sam levit finishes as an all American in the Big 12 this year uh I think I know that Kyle McCord will have better passing stats than will Howard that was my that was my throwback uh my my Nostalgia one uh I think I know that Jeremiah Smith will break Ohio State's freshman receiving record of 550 yards I think I know that Dylan rayola will pass for more than 3,000 yards I think I know that Nate Frasier finishes the season as the second best Georgia running back I think I know that we will see enough out of DJ lagway to move him to qb2 going into 2025 in our our quarterback rankings um I already mentioned the the three freshman quarterbacks and I I think I know that Malachi lemon will finish as a top 10 wide receiver ranked of consensus for us by the end of the year currently he's ranked something who sorry M lemon maai lemon I was G say because okay maai M Maliki Coleman not even starting so yeah yeah my bad maai lemon you guys love McKai lemon I don't think that there's a USC wide receiver that we should care about to be honest I just don't I I think it's shobe Lane so does everybody else anything else any other takes uh we I think we're going to do a pregame show tomorrow to cover the the Thursday games Chris is Shing his head yes Matthew's probably gonna drive and we will definitely be with you on Saturday morning at at the very latest at 10 amm Eastern you're going to want to join us for the tailgate like this video give us your uh takes for the things that you think you know in 2024 in the comments for I'm sorry apologies k stre ran out of time we went we went a little too long Matthew read too many takes otherwise we would have got you in for Chris Moxley and Matt Bruning I'm Felix sharp good night good luck
