welcome back middle school it is week six for our distance learning but you are on lesson seven so I got a lot of really great responses last week on lesson six you did a lot of great things at the activity board I felt like your work was more authentic this week and then I could really hear your voice I know there are some students that are still trying to get their work and don't give up now we are almost at the finish line we've only got a little bit more to go and then you are on to the next grade so I'm going to talk you through a little bit of our week seven activity board and remember you're to choose three out of the five activities that are listed and you don't just want to list the number that you did but you need to create a create your reflection as well on this page it looks like this so you'll put the number activity and then you're gonna reflect here and let us know if you like the activity so I'll talk you through the activity it's the first one today is to create a rap song in 4/4 time that just means four beats per measure or four beats per line and you can choose it you can write about the topic of your choice so if you do that maybe write down the lyrics that you created for me or you could send me a video of you actually rapping there's a lot of great instrumental tracks on YouTube that you could find you can just type in like rap instrumental and you would be able to find anything you could rap along to what we when we talk about 4/4 time that is really it's just one two three four two two three four and then you put your words right over top of that four and then whatever words you have on beat four you want them to try to rhyme with beat four of the next line so that would kind of help make your it's kind of like poetry rape so it kind of helped make your would your rap all kind of flow together the next activity was fine one song that you like that has a hook also called a refrain or chorus eighth grade you should know all about that and try to think of one that is about twenty seconds the reason why is that we are creating an activity you know we we have this thing we want to wash our hands for 20 seconds right now during our or pandemic times and always it's good hygiene but it's often been recommended that you could sing the verse or the you know you could sing the song happy birthday twice and that would be 20 seconds of you washing your hands can you think of another song that has a hook chorus that you could sing for that is about 20 seconds long while you wash your hands and then for seventh and eighth grade you can change the lyrics up a little bit about washing your hands and make the lyrics about washing your hands so if you come up with that share it with me I'd love to hear them the third activity listen to a song and then find another remake of the same song so that's basically a cover song or our remix so and then after you do that respond down here according to your grade level so there's a couple of different elements to finding the two different songs that are like one the original song and the cover song so make sure you read through your grade levels on that activity for you can make your own instrument out of things that you have around the house sixth grade we're talking about you funding and making a percussion instrument that has anything you hit or strike I've got a ton of things here at my desk you can it a percussion instrument can also be a shaker too so at my desk I have my notebook and my pen all of a sudden I have a drum I have my jar of paper clips and all of a sudden I have a shaker 7th grade you would be trying to create a wind instrument a quick and easy wind instrument that you could create would be a soda bottle or a pop bottle and an empty or with liquid in it and you could blow across it like a flute like that and you could create a wind instrument out of that now you could also if you're using a soda bottle put water or soda or whatever is in there at different levels and see what different pitches they create and eighth grade your job would be to make a string instrument if you have got rubber bands laying around the house or gum bands you could very easily use us to create a string instrument and activity 5 would be practice lip synching to one of your favorite songs use acting facial expressions and body movements to tell the story along with your lip synching so find somebody at home limp sink a song - and then follow along with your grade level activity and let me know how it goes so again stay engaged remember we are dragons we are friendly we have integrity we are responsible and we are engaged and that still is in play for our online learning for all of our classes music art gem ela math world languages science we are engaged in our learning so we are looking forward to your responses this week I hope everybody has a good week and let me know if you have any questions we'll talk to you soon middle school bye
