Ellie Glock the setter for Louisville is ready to get this match [Applause] [Applause] started at the net put down by fagron Kong for the first point of the match really good awareness by PK there recognizing balls right in the middle of the plane go up and grab it throw down seven kills four blocks in the three Setter against Penn State last time out for Louisville Louisville never trailed at any points in that match against Penn State good dig by Kentucky keep the point alive and in the her first appearance Brooklyn delay The Freshman from TOA has got a big arm and she shows it on her first swing even at one it was a beautiful set from Emma grome but delay just puts so much power almost looks effortless when she swings at the ball to go crosscourt for a really nice kill grome goes back to serve Player of the Year in the SEC a season ago out of system block got tripped up there chance here for Kentucky then blocked out of play it's a point for the Wildcats and they have their first [Applause] lead another serve coming for grome always been good from the service line she's got six Aces so far this season off the hands of the Lio Elanor B on the swing by eiko Jones nice swing by Aiko Jones she usually plays on the right side but because of serve receive she takes the first swing on the outside pin touches the hands nice swing there from the cards there's charity Looper getting her first first taste of this rivalry the transfer from UCLA where she played the last two seasons she has fit right in with this Louisville team Jones goes deep scrambling back after it is tuzo Jones picks the spot gets the point it's a really nice job by Jones recognizing a bit tight of a set here so she goes to tip and instead of just tipping it right over the block she throws it deep into to the court in between two Defenders just a heads up play from a very veteran player I go the grad student ACC first team selection three times in the last four years the bump set to beer and a good block at the net Johnny terer leading the charge really nice job by aanny ther and Reagan ruer that is a pair that you do not want to go against and they were doing a great job getting out making sure they were set up right in front of Anna deir and ruer puts it down yeah that's ruer who got it they'll get each credit for that block set back for Jones and another block that's Megan Wilson junor from Kingwood Texas the Oklahoma transfer spent the last two seasons with the Sooners in her first Louisville Kentucky match great defense of front here from Kentucky at 6'4 those are hands you want to go away [Applause] [Music] from deir T and ruer team up again for the block Point Kentucky it's Block City here for Kentucky heck of a job by a johnni terer I mean being the workout horse here in the middle just going back and forth between Rutherford and Wilson closing these blocks getting really set up nicely and firmly great great defense from the cats de ends the Run gives a point to Louisville okay put your coaching head on for me here what is the key here for each of these two teams today for Louisville to win for Kentucky to win well I think Louisville has to continue to serve tough as they always do they're one of the best serving teams in the country you ask any opposing coach they say they just put so much stress on you and they force you out of system where Craig Skinner will tell you he hasn't been thrilled with his team always on Q I mean say something about how good the serve is yeah I feel I have to George trademark right there Craig Skinner will tell you he feels like his team needs to be better in somewhat out of system situations more like 8 to 10 ft off the net he feels like if they're able to score more in those situations that two and four record would be much different seeing some good defense so far from Kentucky looking for more of it here it's off hands but it's not it's actually goes over everybody so good start for Craig Skinner team coming off a loss at 20th rank Purdue on Saturday in five they are down two sets to one they W set for 25 to2 you see his resume very impressive including that National Championship 3 years ago 2512 at Purdue give you an idea what Kentucky can do the question is can they do itain it yes and be consistent with it that's what they're looking for right now absolutely and it's hard to do volleyball is a game of runs what happens in one set can be completely different the next and so you want to be able to string together great matches and that starts with consistency so far so good for Kentucky although overpass here they're going to pay for it block and lisal within one Setters love the opportunity to be able to show off their arm swing Glock gets on top of this one puts it Right Down the Line [Music] Wilson took out by the outstanding Libo for Louisville Elena Scott off hands Looper de beir Kentucky in a bit of a scramble but that's how you clean things up when it's a little messy Rutherford that big left arm showing off that's a great job by Kentucky just being under control in a hectic situation not ideal but they're able to get up a nice set to Reagan Rutherford and she's able to go bang Craig Skinner wants to see more of that out of his team as we move forward tonight looking for more out of Rutherford hit 341 last year so far this year she's hitting 247 dropped that one in for a Kentucky point up three here in set one heck of a jump float from Reagan Rutherford you watch that ball cross the net and then it just dies just drops in front of you and Elena Scott couldn't get quite under it dropped in again another good Serve by [Applause] Rutherford Wilson that's Long Point W I still like the Run by Kentucky Emma Gro she's really pushing that Tempo out to the outside pin Wilson just gets behind it a little bit and it goes out of bounds but really fast tempo she had a one-on-one that was a great run just couldn't connect deir back to ser the Louisville native has played well in this series the last couple of years in those Louisville [Applause] wins Looper with the kill we talked to Danny bus boom Kelly pregame and one of the things she said if charity Looper gets off to a great start on the outside pin I'll feel really good about where we're at as a team I'll feel good about this evening if it takes her a little bit to kind of slowly work herself in that's a different story so great start there and nice swing Looper averaging two and a half kills a set in their first season with the cards on the slide getsinger off the mark Danny bus boom Kelly in her seventh season ACC coach of the year the last three years made it all the way to the championship match in Omaha last December before falling to Texas first time an ACC school had ever reached the national championship match CH a on the slide here's someone who's really jumped for L this year Cara cresy the middle and a great job just a quick back set here they don't go all the way to the antenna they leave her inside just a little bit so she's able to split that scene between the blockers and Cara Cressy what a phenomenal season she has had to start things off for the Cardinals 4 nothing run cresy is going to get a point here to make it a five nothing run for pressy someone who just needed a little time reps experience and now she's really finding her own she's been a bright spot for the Cardinals this season Kentucky was rolling but right now Louisville's rolling time out called by the wild cats if you've ever wished you could take a buffalo chicken dip wherever you go today's your lucky day because Sonic stuffed it in a crispy portable bite now wish for something else like more Hands to Hold Your bites Sonic 299 buffalo chicken dip [Music] [Applause] [Music] bites football's here you know what that means more Flame Grill Bee from Burger King celebrate with us cheer on your team y know this Park come on let's sing B have it your way there you go that's what I'm talking about is this your plan to watch the game today uh yeah I have to watch my neighbors's NFL Sunday Ticket it's not your best plan but you know what is my plan from Verizon switch now and they'll give you NFL Sunday Ticket from YouTube TV on them this plan is amazing another amazing plan backing away from here very slowly oh JH Allen mm football season is here get NFL Sunday Ticket from YouTube TV on us a $449 Value Plus get a free Samsung Galaxy Z flip 5 only on Verizon welcome back to the ACC on ESPN KFC y center first of three regular season matches played in this building for Louisville of course they're going to play their Arch Rivals here about an hour and 15 hour and 20 minutes down the road from Lexington of course this rivalry has been tight as we mentioned the last few years they used to play here a little bit more often Louisville's been playing at lnn Arena closer to campus and as the sport grows the popularity grows the demand grows the opportunities here in the KFC Yum Center continue to grow for Louisville pressy off the hands another point for Louisville and the Run continues great job by Cressy going behind the center with Ellie Glock in the front row next to her she's able to connect on that slide six nothing run right now for the cards Wilson the Run continues how about the service run for an de beer right now and if you're Kentucky coming on the timeout just get up a good ball allow imma grome to have all of her options and then you got to be able to put the ball on the quar of play [Applause] the bear back throw attack and this is what makes Anna deir so effective yes she's a great outside hitter but she's always an option no matter where she is on the court she comes up for a bck out of the back row there you never can lose sight of where she is on the court because she can always bang she can always be an option no matter where she is Aaron lamb comes on on for Kentucky as the Wildcats try to shake things up here they serve L right away the beer locked in on the service line right now another timeout called by Kentucky Aaron lamb checks into the game and I understand why Craig Skinner puts her in she's a consistent passer Anna deir goes right at her says welcome to the game overpass results in a kill and the Louisville fans absolutely love the run that they've seen this team go on it's a N9 nothing run right now and Kentucky has used their final timeout of this first set gives me a chance to tell you about Saturday night ESPN it's a prime time college football double header emphasis on the prime 7 Eastern Tennessee heading to the swamp to take on Florida then it's Dion Sanders and 18th rank Colorado host in Colorado state in the Rocky Mountain Showdown a rivalry that dates back to 1893 I have a feeling it's gonna feel a little different than any other Colorado Colorado State Showdown you don't say prime time out there on Saturday prime time for Prime 15-9 right now for Louisville after the slow start Kentucky was in good shape but now the cards have gone off and gone up 15 to9 I think Katie the big question among the questions for Louisville coming off that national championship appearance last year was they've got so many players to replace one in the building here today Amaya Tillman so good defensively two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year honored pregame for 500 career blocks Danny bu with Kelly giving her the little praise it just reminds you of what they've lost but they have not lost a step after losing such talented players from a year ago no they haven't they lost CL CH on the outside Amaya Tillman who you just saw on our pregame and then Rock luthro who was the team Setter in steps Ellie Glock carck pressy and charity Looper who have done a phenomenal job kind of filling those roles and upping the production that you need to see and that's just a testament to Danny buum Kelly and the jobs that she does recruiting the job she does in the transfer portal she is so good at assessing talent and bringing them in and they can have an immediate impact that one off the mark on the bid by Ginger 10 nothing Run for the cards and certainly this run is credit to the serving from Louisville but also you know KY is doing them some favors by the unforced errors and you like to see Kentucky just settle in a little bit get back under control inside out they go to Rutherford on the back row attack that's something that Craig Skinner says they need to have more of they want to get Rutherford going from the back row that ends the run at 10 straight Louisville points and it's so helpful when you have a player like Reagan ruford much like Anna deir who can be that option in the back row it's somebody that can bail you out if you don't feel like you have a perfect set but just like you said Craig Skinner has challenged her to be more active in the back row so that she too is always an option hly tuzo The Freshman with the serve cresy Looper doesn't have to have a lot on it we've seen a couple of those soft shots from lville be effective here in the first set it's not all about power Eric sometimes you just want a little finesse and charity Looper just roll shots this baby to the donut sucks the air out of the defense hit them where they're [Applause] not here is Cara cresy back to serve for the cards that one goes long a service error for Cressy and Louisville that is their second of the set and a nice job by Molly tuzo there recognizing hey I'm just going to bail out of here open my shoulder and let that one go long Ginger back to [Applause] [Music] Ser that one's going to go long but they say it was touched so it'll be a point for Louisville great job there by Looper she's so athletic you can see serve Reed got right back up in position to get the kill and a heads up play by Ellie Glock as well not a great pass so she just hangs the ball really high and allows chy Looper to go up and attack lock back to Ser delay off hands Point Kentucky this is such a good set by Emma Gro the pass takes her behind the 10 foot line so she's on the run but she still keeps this ball in Tipo and gets it right out to the antenna so delay is able to go line or crosscourt if she wants to excellent set igr with the serve Glock quickly to the middle Kong with the [Applause] [Music] kill I don't even have words quite frankly I mean heck of a set on a 31 Gap set PK's already in the air timing's perfect you did you say you were a lost for words I know surprising right I mean you know you get paid by the word you can jump in anytime you want R the fur lets her actions to her talking right there with the swing from the right side for the point for Kentucky really nice job by Rutherford there finding the hole between the two blockers hands and going Cross Court perfect shot Rutherford had 14 kills in that five Center against Purdue here's delay Jones [Applause] Ru the thir had just enough room but it's not going to make it across the net really nice Pursuit effort there by [Applause] Kentucky Rutherford goes over the score table one hand unfortunately just sends it a little bit behind Emma Gro who's unable to get it over the net at the nick of time really nice effort Helena Scott with the serve [Applause] and contacts at the net so a point for Kentucky net violation on [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Louisville here's Elanor Bon from Louisville homecoming game for her going up against her former teammate on the other side Elena [Music] Scott set back for Rutherford Point [Applause] Kentucky it's a really nice job running the offense you go outside get the ball back send it back to Rutherford just playing and using both antennas using the full width of your court from Bon go on a little serve run here to get Kentucky back into it chance here for the [Applause] Wildcats set back for Rutherford dug out by glock de bear back from the net still got enough on it off the hands point for Louisville really nice dig by Setter Ellie Glock on Louisville side she sticks right in there gives her chance gives her team another chance to set it up and Anna deir goes up and hauls off on some [Applause] hands here's eiko Jones led the team in Aces a season ago so she can dial it up but not this time now I have the Katie George jins welcome to the club take a seat it's now a club of [Applause] [Music] two ironically you said that earlier there was a service there but right after that is when Hanah deir went on that long service run that really made the difference in this first set for this moment can Kentucky make a late push oh look at Looper with the attack from the back that is so fun to watch oh it is because they can just Sky sets a bit right up in the middle of the Court which allows charity Looper to go left right down the middle if she wants she's only got two hands in front of her also helps that she can jump out of the gym heck of a play the bck is so hard to defend against and louva runs it so well on the roll it's Ginger gra Skinner says she is playing the best she's ever played for Kentucky she's been in double digit kills in five of the six matches so far in 23 and this is her bread and butter starting left of the center and going behind all the way out to that antenna she can cut back go Cross Court or go down the line really hard to track Elise get singer when she goes off of one foot tuo that's going to float long and Louisville two points away from taking set [Applause] one Cara cresy looks to the bench for where to go with the [Applause] serve Del leg pry came up for the dig smart shot Looper off hands set point for Louisville and it's a smart shot by Kentucky you recognize you got a middle blocker serving you're going to tip it right over but Cari great defensive play to serve for set [Music] [Applause] point [Applause] Johnson Kentucky fights off set point number one and again get singer finding success behind Emma Gro on the slide she now checks back to serve and the crowd checks back in to try to get their team over the finish line here in set [Applause] one bumped over so a chance here for Kentucky delay off the block Point Wildcats that's a really nice job by Kentucky capitalizing on a free ball situation they control it nice and easy put it right on gr's head she pushes the tempo outside delay goes right down the line heck of a [Applause] shot service error will end set one Louisville takes it 2519 great energy in this building Kentucky came out firing well I think for starters they have to serve receive better than what we saw in set one Louisville completely took them out of their game because of the serve right and so they were out of system a lot and then a lot of self-inflicted wounds we saw a lot of unforced Errors from the attackers on Kentucky side if they play cleaner volleyball that score is going to be much closer first point set two goes to the cars Kentucky hit 226 in set number one that is right in line with what they've done so far 232 that's an area we're not accustomed to seeing for Kentucky as they try to find themselves here in the early going this season against a very challenging schedule gosh does Craig Skinner put together tough non-conference schedule he should fire his schedule maker wait a minute it's him it's him bar get the first two points of the set I will say even though there's growing pains when you play a tough non-conference schedule like that of kuy you are so much better for it when you get into conference play once they start SEC play in a week from now they're going to be so strong I truly believe it I mean how many times have they won an SEC Championship what has been like six seven years in a row couple of those have been split coach for Florida that one's going to head out of play good start for Louisville here in set number [Applause] [Music] two including tonight it's a string of six straight non-conference games against top 25 opponents top five tonight and oh by the way after this they head to Nebraska on Saturday take on the Huskers on Sunday all Nebraska did in there last match was go to Stanford last night and win in four sets now it's all Louisville right right now so in a situation like that you're out of system it's a low set you hope Megan Wilson would recognize the situation excuse me Brooklyn delay you can't just tip into the hands right in front of you you got to try to make a better play out of that just to give your offense another opportunity another swing at it just put it in the play the quarter play that's also a freshman learning lessons like this in this environment against the number two team of the country to your point it's going to help down the line but right now it is a tough lesson to learn for sure it's baptism by fire and what a better environment to learn in [Music] right so the first point of set two for Kentucky Ginger at the service line for the [Music] [Applause] cats 51 cards [Applause] [Music] Scott with the [Applause] serve [Applause] deir there's the Freshman with the swing delay gets the kill wild and that's what I like so much about Brooklyn delay Craig Skinner describes her as fearless and sometimes it's good to be a little naive right you're a true freshman because you have an air not a great play but you come back and you rip this one Cross Court and you beat Elena Scott to it that's a great sign as a true freshman better from Kentucky they get the Ace from Emma Gro Emma grome leads the team in Ace is one of the best servers on this team let's see if she can put together a run here for the Cs seventh Ace of the season for Gro good one here too Tracked Down by Scott good hustle play Louisville still in the point doesn't last long though ruer with the kill you need more plays like this heck of an execution from Kentucky here free ball situation tzo puts it right on gr's head she's got a one-on-one for Rutherford on that right side Rutherford turns it down great swing more execution like that brings you confidence as a team five kills for rean Rutherford hitting 625 and then the block ther and Rutherford team up and now kuy's on a [Applause] [Music] run these two are so good and so fun to watch when they team up in the front row and they go I mean they're in sync they're in unison it's perfect perfect execution they are over impressed right when they need to be thr can't clear the Nets it's a service era and that ends the 4 nothing run for Kentucky but a great serving run no doubt by in the grome there here's Aiko Jones and a service error for the veteran Jones so they give the point right back Kentucky and Louisville even at six as delay will head back to Ser KCK R [Applause] delay delay shows off that big serve dug out by Louisville deir over pass Kentucky still in it well where would Kentucky be right now without re ruford that's six kills and nine swings the team is hitting below 200 she's hitting over 700 right now and what's interesting is K Skinner will tell you she's been a little inconsistent with her attacking so far this season right now she's been unbelievably efficient just under 700 to be clear there's a service error again for Kentucky so that's going to be service error number six so far for the cats and we're early in set [Music] two here's the beer went on that long run in the first set made the [Applause] difference lamb looking for it rolls down the [Music] [Applause] tape like Kentucky was out of sink that entire Point Louisville finally gets the [Applause] point looks like it's a point for Louisville but they're calling it for Kentucky it was enough to bring some confusion here I think we might get a challenge card Anna deir is going to go talk to our R1 bill thorberg so car crusty when she goes on that slide she thinks that she's hit the hands of the Kentucky blocker the head official Bill thorberg essentially overrules his Down official who called for touch and said no it just went along the tape that ball was out no [Applause] [Music] touch so they will go to the monitor H Park our R2 talking with our scores so let's take you through it Louisville thinks this is their point yeah it went over the tape and then it catched the arm it's all the way down the line so we'll take another look from a different [Music] angle that's over the net it's inside the antenna is it not but does it touch lamb is the question I don't know if it [Music] does and remember the head official ruled it out no touch kuy's point so do we have the evidence to be able to overturn that call here based on the views that you're seeing as a viewer at [Applause] home I haven't seen anything yet because when you saw from the first angle caught the tape and then kind of rolled down the tape and away from lamb you're waiting to see this angle it's like well did lamb help it down the line one more [Music] angle oh see there that's a great angle to me it hits tape and arm before going out every view that we had seen prior to that every view we had seen prior to this one I thought it was out no touch on Kentucky but that last view great job by our camera crew through that looks like it touched just touched her arm barely and that is the call Katie George I applaud you 11,000 of your friends are applauding as well you are one for one you owe me a beer is that how this goes no that's throughout the season that's fine you're one for one I would just suggest you stop right there stop L ah head so just to remind you you're given two challenges if you're successful with the challenge you keep the challenge so Louisville with two challenges remaining if we get to a fifth set you have fewer than two challenges you are given an additional challenge that's a key challenge right there because think of how things flip here a little bit Kentucky trying to build a little momentum but instead challenge is successful for Louisville and Anna deir is's on a run again three nothing run right now for the cards four nothing wrong when you're in the practice gym working on your serve 38 mil per hour to about 42 mph is considered a really strong good fast serve Anna deir on a jump float looks like she's clocking 45 mph it is a laser beam right into the net a laser beam right into the net I I got nervous cuz you know I'm like well you're praising somebody's serve what's going to happen here if you've been following ktie George's serve analysis Through The Years here's Bon point for Kentucky there's the beer on the attack for Louisville it's a great run by Ellie Glock recognizing on front row I've got two hitters on the pins but I've also got Anna deir coming straight up the middle two blockers here and she's still able to split the gap between getsinger and Rutherford for an excellent swing and [Music] kill cressie with the Ser pretty ball here for Louisville block sets it back Kong on the slide what impresses you about Ellie Glock who is for the first time a starting Setter here for one of the top teams in the country she puts up a really good ball I mean she's been so consistent look at that placement gives PK an option to go cut back or down the line Ellie Glock is so consistent her teammates know what to expect from her when she takes the floor and that's important she has stepped up and as a result lville up four Kentucky timeout here in the [Music] second just between us you know what's better than mopping anything well I switched to Swiffer Wet jet and it's awesome it's an all-in-one that absorbs dirt and grime deep inside and it helps prevent streaks and Haze wetat is so worth it love it or your money back it's bow time this bowjangles made until you run out of what are those called again that's it for doing that doesn't stop download The Home Depot [Music] [Applause] app what a week in college volleyball from Tuesday to Sunday three matches on ESPN one on ESPN 2 you're seeing the number one team of the country the number two team of the country twice number three in the country number four in the country number five in the country twice number 21 in the country star power Galore and it all comes to a head on Sunday two versus 5 to get things started on ESPN 2 at Stanford here in the Derby City to take on Louisville then Wisconsin at Florida Sunday 3 Eastern on ESPN that drops in Ace under the Kentucky timeout for deer I just feel so lucky as a a broadcaster a fan a viewer that these coaches are willing to schedule such tough non-conference schedules so that we see top five matchups top 10 matchups top 25 matchups every which way you look and that they're getting the coverage that they deserve it's going to be a heck of a weekend already been a great week last night Nebraska taking down Stanford record viewership on any ESPN platform for a regular season match over 400,000 466,000 viewers last night on ESPN for Stanford and for Nebraska was an awesome match in Meritt be for Nebraska with 15 kills transfer from Florida has already been big for the Corn Huskers we'll see how Stanford rebounds by coming out east to play against the Cardinals on Sunday O Okay Reagan rothaford with the tomahawk doesn't matter how you do it just let you do it heck of a swing from iiko Jones excuse me charity Looper and you just tomahawks it over the net she should celebrate it seemed a little bit more self obervation looking for a point yeah bonus to get the point rean serving and that drops in Ace for ruford she has been the standout for Kentucky here tonight she's hitting at 727 which is impressive when you take a look at the team hitting 143 where would they be without her right now heck of a serve it looks like it's floating deep just drops right on that line but tier point that to your point she's played so well and consistent this evening she needs help from her teammates though a lot of her teammates in the front row too many errors you got to play cleaner volleyball especially when you're playing the number two team in the country you can't give away freebies Glock serves it at Rutherford Gro gets here in the slide good block by Louisville great coverage by Rutherford micho Jones another defensive play by Rutherford that's in play Jones off the block for the Louisville [Applause] Point Aiko does such a nice job this set looks a little low but she's able to speed up at the last minute to get there in time and still able to get a really nice swing in to Tool those hands outside the quarter [Applause] play [Applause] that one is going to miss the mark on the swing by charity Looper so an attack eror for Louisville point for [Music] Kentucky Molly tuo will head back to [Music] [Applause] serve [Applause] Kentucky has used one of their two timeouts here in set number two they drop set one 2519 oh good swing there off the hands Louisville answers back with a point one of the differences I see between Kentucky and Louisville right now is Louisville's able to side out immediately we haven't seen Kentucky really string together a couple of points with their serve we saw earlier in the the the set with Emma Gro she got four serves in but Louisville's been able to side out really efficiently and not allow Kentucky to go and runs yeah that's a great Point ktie Louisville siding out at 59.4% by comparison Kentucky 45% big Edge for Louisville in that category too's got it he's [Applause] set off the block point for the Wildcats trying to claw back into set number two down down by three now can they go on a run or will Louisville side out again [Applause] [Music] see side out [Music] cards and it starts with the pass Elena Scott Wes Libo she's just so efficient and effective in that back court as a serve receiver even if it's not a perfect pass it's high enough that allows Ellie Glock to go wherever she wants as a Setter with her three options Scott back serve so good in the NCAA tournament last year average better than four and a half digs a set comes up empty on this serve for Louisville so a gift point for the Wildcats back down by [Applause] [Music] three [Applause] De Beer nope attack a foran a beer point for the [Applause] Wildcats and Kentucky build a little momentum here in set two with grome on the service line not this time service air for Kentucky that's they're eight I think Stanford missed 11 serves in the first two sets against Nebraska last night in the game that you were just referencing eight in two sets is it's a [Music] [Applause] lot good rip kept Alive by Louisville great up by the cards Ru theer leaves no doubt on that swing I was just telling our producer Replay for the Dig from Elena Scott never mind Replay for re unbelievable great dig by Ela Scott just to keep it in play but Reagan Rutherford makes you pay right between the seam unreal so basically Carol Lagana our producer gave you both replays you looking for in your role as producer here Courtside that's cressie with the kill I mean some of these attacks just unimaginable do you want to go sit in down the line and dig this look at this slide all the way out into the antenna unbelievable placement by Ellie Glock that allows Cara crusty to do that she hits it with such pace and power too Cressy hitting at 667 the division one leader in attack percentage coming into this match looking for her again not this time Looper Point [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Kentucky Wild Cats hanging around here in set [Applause] two Setter look for the kill wild cats were ready for it they don't have an answer for Rutherford right now that is her 10th kill of the match no and Louisville's blockers are late Glock sends over a tip that's easily dug and unfortunately car cresy just has no time to be able to get out to close that block against Rutherford who makes her pay to Bear floats that's ruford hustling to keep it alive Looper count this one for the Cs great awareness by Ellie Glock she recognizes hey I can give my outside hitter a one-on-one situation that is where you make your money as a Setter she pushes this ball outside charity Looper is going against Rutherford one-on-one she's got all that Court to work with makes it so hard to dig that ball 20 assists for Glock so far as we play in set two Rutherford off hands another kill for rean ruford that's 11 on 14 swings and no attack error so far I have a big smile on my face just looking at the stat line she's hitting 786 as an opposite usually you see middle blockers with the high percentages because they're not getting set that often she's been set 14 times off hands Point [Applause] movable what I like about charity Looper is she'll have an error where she pushes the ball maybe a little too long unforced airor right she comes right back and betters the ball that's the mark of a mentally tough outside hitter R theer from the back row another kill for rean rer that is number 12 and imma gr gives you no time as a defense to get set look howow and fastest set is to Reagan Rutherford the timing has to be perfect for this to be executed and it was that is textbook running your go-to hitter out of the back court and that's a feeling what Craig Skinner the head coach for Kentucky was looking for more attacks from the back row for Rutherford we've seen it a couple of times here tonight Looper that's Off the Mark Point Kentucky we're tied at 21 and a timeout called by Louisville good fight by the Wildcats forcing a Louisville timeout here in set two the WNBA playoffs are underway tips off tonight and when we're done here in Louisville we will send you out west game one of the first round series between the Chicago sky and the defending Champions the top seeds the Las Vegas Aces Asia and the aces on the court tonight as NBA playoffs get started great battle here by Kentucky but it is really all rean Rutherford right now for Craig Skinner's team Katie no doubt I mean the score is 21-21 because of this unbelievable performance we're witnessing from Reagan Rutherford she's obviously got it done from a defensive standpoint AET she's a great defender but gosh she is just swinging lights out on that right side pin Craig Skinner told us look she can be unbelievable out of the back row but she's been too inconsistent we need more from her and right now she's delivering more came into this match averaging 3.4 kills a set hitting 247 on the season down as we mentioned before from what she did last year when she was all SEC and an all Amer well right now she's averaging six kills a set and is hitting 800 for Kentucky as a team for this they're hitting 200 so she is the rising tide for this Kentucky team right now if I was a statistician I'd like to see the difference of Reagan ruer just the compilation against all her other teammates because the reason they're hitting 200 is she is keeping that that stat AF float right now with her great play be interesting charity Looper just hit a ball out of bounds how does wolver respond here to side out can Kentucky capitalize on this moment being tied up after 20 out of the Louisville timeout tuzo The Freshman gets the ace that ball had no spin I mean I don't think it moved in the air just died heck of a float big spot here for the Freshman out of Texas who's been making plays for Kentucky she has started each match and now delivering at the service line here's Looper tuo bumps it over block with a set for Looper point [Applause] blable it's really good recognition by charity Looper here recognizing she has a smaller outside pin hitter and Emma Gro she goes right over top of her to the middle of the court for this kill Looper leading the way for Louisville Nine Kills hitting three 33 serving now for the cards Ginger with the point for Kentucky Elanor beon with an absolute perfect dime pass on gr's head Ginger just takes a little off of it sometimes you just got to mix it up mix up your shots and defense is unexpecting third kill for ginger she's back to serve Kentucky two points away from taking set two that one is going to float long [Applause] 23 all a reminder you need to win by two fena Scott who's G on a service run or two in her time with the cards with the serve Jones tried to drop it in Gro Rutherford with the attack from the back but hits it long and it is set point for [Music] [Applause] Louisville timeout [Applause] Kentucky Kentucky got what they well they got what they wanted I mean they got their hot hand in position to take the swing it's just her first attack era of the night I know in an un fin situation and Craig Skinner had mentioned that right when we were asking him about the two and four start not something that this team is accustomed to and he said you know a couple points here and there we'd be four and two but we've had some untimely errors late in sets where we had to have them and unfortunately you see that right there from Reagan ruford as you mentioned it was our first error of the game be really curious to see how does Kentucky respond with their backs against the wall in set two Kentucky had gone in front 22-21 on the tuzo ace after Louisville tied it Ginger had the kill they're up 23-22 but now backto back points by Louisville and the cards have set [Music] point the attendance record in this building for a Louisville match 9,000 and 58 that was against Notre Dame last season they had a big crowd for the Oregon Regional final as well looks like this one's going over 10,000 maybe over 11,000 waiting for the official word from louisv people the upper deck is open usually speaking they curtain the whole thing off to make this place look full the upper deck was opened on one side to allow for more than 10,000 fans which is just [Applause] unbelievable set point for the [Applause] cards Scott with the serve Gro [Applause] terer getsinger the Dig by [Applause] Scott deir Kentucky can't save it Louisville takes it [Applause] two wiconsin playing tonight how about this scene right here in the vill just enjoying it enjoying their number two team in the country and this is what they saw in those first two sets a team hit 309 and hold Kentucky to 179 hitting and something I I see there the digs and the defense are similar as is the blocks right kuy's playing good defense but unfortunately their hitting percentage is so much lower than Louisville's because of those self-inflicted [Music] wounds third set is underway and it's a point for Kentucky to get things started here in the third Kentucky needs to win this set to keep the match going if Louisville wins the set it's over it's a clean sweep for the cards we don't do sweeps do we these two have not done sweeps the last two years so the last two times these two teams have played five Setters usually when not you and I are working together it's a five Setter could be a junior high match that we do somewhere it's a five Setter yes you're say snacks I mean I was prepared for this to be a long night what a teammate see Looper good dig and a good start there's another great take Scott and then the block back IO Jones with a little Flex at the end of it Grandma Jones can still get up there but what a dig Elena Scott she's so pretty and elegant when she does that dolphin dive which makes it look easy and it is not trust me I've tried and failed many many of [Music] times and a whistle and violation on Louisville so a point for Kentucky [Music] viol we mentioned the tough schedule that kuy's playing they've already faced Pittsburgh twice on September 1st September 3rd they lost them three in home and four at Pittsburgh Pittsburgh as a team we saw them in Omaha last year one of the final four teams of the country they look loaded again they are going to be in that ACC battle as we've seen time and again with Aiko Jones and the Louisville Cardinals this year pit so physical and they've got such great Scrappy defense they suffocate you they make it so difficult to score points and that just really weighs on you when you play them and I'm sure Kentucky felt that way Jordan Williams on the floor for Kentucky playing in the middle Loper got [Applause] there blocked out of play point for Kentucky Rutherford on the swing this is something I was really impressed with when charity Looper got to Louisville I expected the great attacking ability I didn't know she was such a strong Defender and look how much ground she was just able to cover there the willingness to dive after that ball great effort that's going to be a point for the Wildcats Kentucky up three early they led by three in the first set but Louisville went on a 10 nothing run in set one and one going away 2519 titer second set 2523 even though Kentucky had a lead late 2322 in that second [Applause] [Music] set lamb great start for the wild cats up four here in the third the worst thing you can do when you're up 2 in a match is get complacent and think your opponent is going to go away easily it's a mentality you have to fight you can't expect that KY is just going to willingly lose the third set they're going to fight for it you can't be complacent if you're Louisville here and that was not a complacent shot AO Jones on the right side a little close maybe to hear you there so she responded I mean you heard the pop off her hand and look at that se seam I mean you could drive a truck through it right there unbelievable pop to the ball she's got to be like 37 years old at this point still doing that I think IO would tell you she feels 77 years [Music] [Applause] [Music] old deir andah deir battled injury last year as a matter of fact it was against Stanford last season when she suffered a knee injury she missed 12 matches she didn't return till November remember though where she finally got to being back to being Anna De Beer came at the perfect time NCAA tournament here in this building she was the Louisville Regional most outstanding player at 17 kills against Oregon six in the fourth set six in the fifth set that's when Anna deir was back to being Anna deer it seemed I don't know if I've ever seen a performance quite like that in the fifth set against Oregon here at the kfcm center she's just stoic player to begin with as she obviously rattles off another kill but it almost looked like a veil went over her eyes in that moment of okay I've arrived everybody get on board just climb on my back and let's win this thing because we're going back to a national semi-final as we remember clearly and as Louisville fans remember clearly there's a back row attack and that's off hand going to be a point for Louisville Louisville was facing a match point for oron in the fourth set of that match but de and the cards battled back and made it to Omaha such an emotional Victory and such a great set by Ellie Glock there kind of a weird start to that play she gets it to charity Looper Tandon Shan freshman getting a chance to come in and show what she can do from the service line and Louisville right now is answering back on a run six straight points for the cards prie with the backhand save but Looper she gets to a lot she wasn't going to get to that one point for the wild [Music] cats here's Jordan [Music] [Applause] Williams the pass usually doesn't work out too well for the team that commits it but this time it worked out great for Louisville it was tricky one to track right you think it's going to hit the tape and unfortunately just skirts over and you're [Applause] unprepared here is the [Music] beer lamb recovered nicely to get the good swing and the kill for KY really great job by Aaron lamb tracking that this set is hung inside here because they're out of system she's able to work her body in and go right between Ellie Glock and Cara crusty Rutherford with the serve pry on the slide great dig ruer hangs in the air but Looper there with the defense Pops that chest a couple times too [Music] [Applause] I got to say even with the blue nail polish the charity Looper is sporting she's still able to block that ball she realized now this is her first Louisville versus Kentucky matchup she said after the match against Penn State the other day I made a mistake got my nails done in blue you don't I'm not the expert in this area you don't do that you don't do that before not rivalry we no she'll learn won't happen again I bet that is deflected out of play and a point for the [Applause] Wildcats really nice job by imigo flipping this ball back to Johnny ther who cuts it crosscourt recognizing she's got Cara cran right back tzo back to serve for Kentucky down by one here in set three [Applause] Kong's attack goes long tack error for Louisville and we are tied at 10 here in set [Applause] three [Music] really a great pick up for Louisville when you think about what they were losing play CH ACC Player of the Year all americ who did so much for Louisville I don't know if it's fair to say well this is a one for one trade choss for Looper because I I don't know how similar do you think they are how different are they they are similar in a way because they're both a bit undersized MH and yet they can Sky I mean both CH and charity Looper have the ability to jump out of the gym which makes them so hard to defend against because they're able to hit over top of blocks and you just don't expect them to be able to do that at 5'9 510 at the K Jones with the block yeah but when you're 64 we expect that from you if you're pein Kong and iiko [Applause] [Music] Jones PK getss that left hand right in the center just in time five blocks for each team point for the cards sometimes let serving helps out [Music] mhm Louisville with three straight points and Kentucky is going to take a timeout right now we'll take it as well set three in a packed KFC Yum Center Louisville in [Music] control so I went to experience they actually helped lower my monthly bills phone internet Experian did the work also subscriptions I forgot about Experian canel them for me help me take control of my money see all you can do at every year take charge with the freedom to upgrade every year with go 5G next at T-Mobile also he's [Applause] hungry please please please please please the allnew Hyundai Kona oh thank you with class leading Advanced safety [Music] features Saturday week three college football on the ACC Network first 3:30 Eastern Time 21st rank dup hosting Northwestern end Durham and then our Prime Time matchup Death Valley 8:00 p.m. Florida Atlantic visiting Clemson both games also available on the ESPN app well I said at the top more than 10,000 no more than 11,000 no how about more than 12,000 12,760 here at the KFC Yum Center it's a new Louisville attendance record you put a cap think the little fans would cap out at 11,000 no no no sir close to 13,000 unbelievable I just wanted to set the bar at a realistic level but in college volleyball in 2023 I know to take that next step so 12,760 the attendance for a Louisville match and there is Aiko Jones at the net for the cards [Applause] and you know what I love once the fans hear that they become so invested that the next time there's a match at kfcm said oh by the way on Sunday against Stanford but there's a few more this season the next time there's an opportunity they want to break it they want to be here to make history with this team with this program and that says a lot about what Danny bus boom Kelly has been able to achieve in a short amount of time Looper with the serve Williams off of for a point for Kentucky Well you played at Louisville it wasn't that long ago and you played home matches here you didn't have this kind of crowd what was it like when you were playing compared to this atmosphere where we're having to raise our voices to hear each other all night long you know on average I think we got around 2,000 3,000 fans to a regular season home match when we played Kentucky my freshman season I believe we got around 5,000 fans decently full bottom bow which was a big event it was it meant a great deal to us to have that type of fan base supporting us but when you look around this and they have to pull back the curtains because they have so many people clamoring to get tickets on a Wednesday night on a school night we've got students behind us that are here it's 8:00 tip by the way sering pass it's a late match but they want to be here because this program means so much to the community and it's not just here in Louisville it's at Kentucky as well they've got a national championship trophy in their chest Craig Skinner's built something special down at Memorial Coliseum as well of course this year ky's playing at rup Arena as Memorial goes through a multi-million dollar renovation Skinner's pulled out the challenge card here with Louisville on top by four trying to do whatever he can to slow things down stem the tide as the Wildcats are down two set to none so you saying you think that this is more of a a timeout used challenge well he had a good look at this was it off hands is going to be the [Music] question call on the court is point for the cards but was there a [Applause] touch so you're looking at the left hand the left pinky finger of Anna the beard is that pinky or her ring finger move at all as Rutherford makes the [Music] swing very difficult to tell and it happened at a spot that is opposite the net cam well they're taking a long look at it hoping they're going to get a call here the review continues take a look at this angle rack it back and forward does it hit the beer's hand there I'm not seeing enough to overturn things I'm tell I'm saying it now cuz you're one for one I I just want you to to retire on top this year I appreciate that I appreciate that but I think that touched it oh you're two for two Katie George no I had prior information I don't care about your prior information I'm a good teammate two for two I think touch no touch is one of the most difficult things to overturn when we're talking about a challenge of all the things that coaches can challenge touch no touch has to be the most difficult for an officiating crew and Danny buman Kelly clearly hates the [Music] reversal [Music] interesting is [Music] it coming back to some wide-eyed staff members on the bench too Dan he was a little fired up all right Kentucky needed that bring in two but then Carol cresy says no need to challenge anything on this swing I'm dropping the hammer and Louisville's Back on Top by three starts with a great pass from Elena Scott just a quick one set and look Jordan Williams she Dives One Way Cara cresy recognizes able to go a different way cresy played well against Kentucky last year in the victory eight kills and seven blocks in that match R the thir off the Touch Point Kentucky oh that violation yeah you can jump in I you we've been working together long enough was a net violation Jump Right In on that net violation bottom line is it's a point for Kentucky block to beer blocked out of play point movable she just Swings with so much power that if your hands aren't perfectly facing the courter play she's going to Tool you left or right here's de bear 14 kills against Kentucky two seasons ago 15 kills in the win in last season Loopers leading to the charge for Louisville tonight with 11 kills battle at the net won by the cards really nice shot by Ellie Glock she didn't have much to work with in terms of the pass but she just got her hands over played a smart heads up play no need to be super powerful just get the ball over dances over the net Kentucky unfortunately unprepared to block it De Beer service air point for the wild cats wild Kentucky back within three Ru who has been outstanding for the Wildcats tonight needs to go on the service run right now 16 kills tonight four blocks hitting at [Applause] [Music] 583 Looper steps into it Kentucky can't get it that's 12 kills for charity Looper heck of a swing she goes High hands over the top and again we talked about Ellie glock's location she's on the run and still puts charity Looper in a great situation to have her choice of swings Carrick cresy back to serve for [Music] Louisville lamb Shan's dig started it Kentucky finishes it though Lamb with the [Applause] kill good job by Aaron lamb recognizing she only had Ellie Glock in front of her PK unable to get out and close for kills for lamb as she heads to the bench heads up play tozo to serve [Music] service air Point [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Moval Ellie Glock will head back to [Music] serf Louisville W set one 2519 set 2 2523 and and they are closing in on a sweep really nice Serve by Ellie Glock going to zone two short serve just drops it right in timeout called by Kentucky now down by five it's getting late here in set three we got some late night football for you on Saturday night ESPN's Prime Time college football double header starts at 7 Eastern 11th ranked Tennessee heading to Gainesville to take on Florida and then Coach PR and his Colorado Buffalo and the Rocky Mount Showdown against Colorado State at 10:00 eastern time all here on [Applause] ESPN you know Eric charity Looper has been so much fun to watch and played so well in front of this incredible crowd she's tied her season high with 12 kills she's gotten it done from the back row certainly from the front row and what a pickup from the transfer portal for Danny Busom Kelly Danny told me pregame if charity gets hot starting hot I feel good about things I'll feel good about the evening if she came to play early and boy has she well you're getting a look at a Louisville team that's 8 and0 they're closing in on going 9 and0 on the season they've got a showdown with Stanford coming up here on Sunday afternoon we talked about what they lost but Danny Busom Kelly has built a program that is just reloading year after year right now what do you think of this team in the National picture can they get back and get over the top and win a National Championship here for the Cardinals you always want to be able to point to progress right and Louisville is the perfect example of that they make it to a regional final Elite eight essentially at Texas a few years ago then they make it to the National semi-final lose to Wisconsin the next year they win and beat their conference rival Pittsburgh in the National semifinal to play in their first National final every single year they've been able to build and improve so yes I think that this is a championship level team that can get back there to Tampa in December they're also going to face a team that they feel like is Championship caliber as well in Stanford on Sunday tiller blocked Kentucky has used their two timeouts here in this set and delay missed the Mark it's a point for the [Applause] cards woo three points away from the [Applause] [Music] sweep good rip and a point for the Wildcats The Freshman Brooklyn delay with the kill and this is what's got to have you excited as a Kentucky fan Brooklyn delay going down the line with so much power heck of a swing from the true [Applause] [Music] freshman set out for Aiko Jones and that is long and a point for Kentucky here Elanor B can you continue to string together a couple of points put louville on their back [Applause] heel floats it in clock sets it back Looper that's in another kill for charity Looper 13 it's a new Louisville high you're used to seeing charity Looper on the outside pin here she set up on the right because of serve receive doesn't matter where you put her she's still able to find [Applause] success delay off hands to beer and it's a good kill and it's match point in front of a record crowd here in [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Louisville how about that charity Looper closes it with an ace it's not over yet though because Kentucky will challenge so the celebration will be put on hold here for a moment challenge card is out boob birds are here in the building but if you're Craig Skinner of course you're going to challenge this so Louisville will get in position to celebrate but they will go to replay you got it you might as well use it in real time that Top Spin floater from charity Looper looked like it fell right in on that line here's another look to see if it's in or [Applause] out we go back now we go forward frame by frame looks like it's on the line I see some white I see angle it'll look like it's a little before the line probably no it's right on [Applause] it Katie's fan club Behind us they're playing replay official they're yelling it's on the line does it catch that back part of the line is the question Louisville's ready to celebrate I I match over Moville [Applause] wins [Applause] [Music] w
