number 11 Mar kosic number 10 palosa number nine barbora Kiker number eight Jasmine Pini number seven Elena Racha number six Danielle Collins number five Jean chinen number four Coco goof number three Jessica Pula number two Shon Tech and number one for the first time in my power rankings history Arena sabalenka [Music] ready play well hello there and welcome to my WTA Us open power ranking um I don't know whether people still want this or not but I'm still doing it so uh here we go and I find it fun trying to see if I can work out if we can put the potential US Open champion of 2024 on some kind of short list now I am going to go out on a limb here and say this might be my most controversial power ranking [Laughter] yet we'll wait and see maybe you can tell me in the comments if you remember any of my others like no you won from Australia 2023 was crazier um I did one 2023 anyway um moving on I you know how to drill I usually do a um a list of 10 players I think you need to watch at a grand slam who I think are more likely than the rest of the field to win or at least are very likely to be seen in the second week quarterfinal semi-finals progressing towards the final and even the trophy I do want to do some quick honorable mentions I'm not going to go into why I'm just going to give you a Montage as it were uh they are Emma Naro Lea Fernandez Dian Schneider Elina falina and Donna veic they are players that I think you need to keep an eye on US Open as your kind of I don't know about Dark Horses because most of them will be seeded but players that are probably ripe for causing some kind of upset um and giving us some spectacular tennis in New York with that all being said let's get into the power ranking starting with controversially number 11 Yes you heard me number 11 Marta kosic and the reason I'm putting Mar kosic on this list is because she's been incredibly consistent with post Wimbledon in fact she's been very consistent throughout most of the year apart from a bit of a blip around by the Grass Court season but she's one of the few players who's reached the last 16 or further of the Olympics Toronto and Cincinnati with consistency comes confidence and I think that Mar Kosik will be there to pick up on uh opportunities the draw presents her I think it's very likely we'll see her at least the second week and uh maybe even Beyond if things work her way with the rest of the [Music] draw number 10 Pala basa the Washington DC champion and the Cincinnati semi-finalist and it does seem that Bosa is starting to look looked like her old self again the self that we saw who made world number two a couple of years ago she is still playing through pain there's a bit of a physical question mark but I think it's safe to say that P poder is is in form right now and could make uh waves in New York number nine barbora kika kika was really hard to place on this list I felt it' be ridiculous to not include the Wimbledon champion especially since people who do well at Wimbledon generally kind of follow up in the US um if you look at sort of vusa I think she made quarters of the US Open last year maybe I'm remembering that wrong but she she did all right the New York last year um you have uh what was it rebeccaa didn't do great but she doesn't do great in the US anyway um and then Ash bti was hot favored in 2021 um yeah generally speaking uh with the speed of the courts and the way K seems to be building some confidence back up I put her back in the mix here the fact she's not played very much since Wimbledon she's only done the Olympics she hasn't done a hardcore warmup it's putting question marks over how in she is right now which is why I'm not putting her higher up the list number eight Jasmine palini can't ignore her let's face it you can't really um ignore po after the summer she's had two grand slam finals doubles gold in the Olympics and um picking up some consistent uh wins throughout the season to be honest so she's uh she's got a lot going for her right now and I wouldn't bet against her making something like quarterfinals again uh in the US she seems to be comfortable on hard courts as well let's see how it goes number seven Elena rabaka yes you heard me right one of the top four quotes of the WTA is actually not going to be in the top four power ranking because let's face it RCA's progress has stalled a little bit Wimbledon upset with a bit of a shock she wasn't one of the Olympics she missed it and then she put in a very messy performance against Lea Fernandez in Cincinnati none of these un recoverable from but when you look at her history in North America and how she seems to have underperformed there um she deserves to be in the power ranking of her potential of the results she's built up over the course of the sort of last 12 months we will see um whether Elena Racha will be can produce her topend level um in New York that's the big question mark That's why I can't put a higher than seven all right top six Danielle Collins who is mainly here because she's the Miami Champion similar to Kika not coming in with a lot of form she's had an abdominal injury she's currently playing in Monteray we have a lot of question marks about how she's going to do uh in the US Open but she's here on the strength of she's had a very good season um going deep at Big tournaments very regularly you know L 16 wi losing to eventual Champion really the French Open was a blip in terms of her events that she's entered kind of Miami onwards in terms of her going deep in draws and you know she's going to want to make a splash at the her last US Open and she's a Miami champion and I'm going to be very much favoring people who have won uh 1,000 events in North America this season in this ranking so that's why Daniel K is number six number five junin W the Olympic champion uh high on confidence right now it's fair to say followed up with the last 16 loss in Cincinnati we don't know how much um that loss to pav chova was affected by uh potentially any fatigue or whatnot but we know J likes the US she's a quarterfinalist here last year um she kind of got that important win of Shante in the Olympics let's see uh how she is in the US um maybe she's going to play really free and really confident if she is she's gonna be super dangerous and I would not be surprised to see her in the US Open semi-finals so Junction went number five number four is Coco goof now I flipped go around this list quite a fair bit she ended up in like the three to six range and she was the one that wasn't entirely sure where to place because although she is the defending Champion um it's fair to say that her form is starting to stutter a bit after Roland garos Wimbledon last 16 ex to em novaro um defeat by to uh Dian Schneider lost to uh Donna veic in the last 16 of the Olympics obviously Cincinnati uh ended up being a little bit of a disappointment for her as well uh when she lost to unip ptin in the opening round now I will caveat this with saying that none of these are bad losses in terms of the players but it does highlight that she's potentially more vulnerable than not but when I'm looking at sort of the boxes that potential US Open Champions need to tick she still ticks a lot of them and so for that reason we have to take a seriously as a contender now no one's successfully defended the US Open since Serena Williams 10 years ago let's see if Coco goof can uh do that but she's certainly going to have the crowd behind her that's going to help her a lot she is a big time player and obviously he's got that experience of winning a slam four where J and Collins don't which is why I put her above however I couldn't put her above the number three player on my list Jessica beula who arguably is one of the um three players with the most momentum going into the US Open champion in Toronto finest in Cincinnati and whilst she didn't look like beating sapena in that final she held her own pretty well she wasn't demolished uh even if sapena hadn't got nervous closing that match out pulo still would have lost by only a single break in both sets Pula was serving out most of the service games pretty well sabalenka just did very good job of taking a chances in the end so I think that's kind of where Pula is at where I'm feeling pretty confident that she's going to make a Deep Run in the US the question then happens is what is she going to do when she runs into the other two kind of big name players in Flushing Meadows how is she gonna cope um because at the minute yeah I think she's only losing to um a top player in form or someone else having the two weeks of their life which could happen in the WTA but yeah right now Jessica Pula has a lot of momentum behind her far more than pretty much anyone else on the list we've had so far and so she has to be number three number two eager Shante Tech former US Open Champion two years ago there is a present for people defending US Open titles from two years before namia Saka did that in 2020 uh and as a former CH out of the former champions in the field if it's going to be a former Champion uh kind of lifting the US Open trophy again she's probably the most likely one out of all the ones who are going to be playing um the others being Coco goof SLO Stevens Emma raducanu Nami Saka herself bianc andrescu now that's not the only thing there's to be like a lot's been said about Shante on slow courts but she's still on Fast courts but she still made the Cincinnati semi-finals very similar way that she won the US Open it she is the world number one for a reason is she G to be more vulnerable here yes is she going to be the favorite in pretty much every match she has yes frankly um and so don't count shant Tech out at all I think she's going to be uh more likely than almost anyone else to to be a factor um and she's going to pick up plenty of wins in uh Flushing Meadows but let's face it there's an overwhelming number one choice right now my number one going into the US Open and probably everyone else's number one pick for the title is Arina sabalenka who is the Cincinnati Champion so she could be doing another Cincinnati US Open double it does seem to be that in recent years Cincinnati seems to be event that is better forecasting US Open form you have gof winning last year winning the double Garcia getting to the semi-finals in 2022 and maybe just getting upset by a bad matchup in onur in the semi-finals um year before would have been ashb it was a weird year in 2021 uh so there's precent here that Cincinnati is GNA help but even if it wasn't did you see how dominant sabalenka was how confident she's playing on these courts um she's a US Open finalist from last year she's been slowly progressing her way to the final over the years again semal 21 l in three semi-finals in 2022 lost from a break up in the decider to shant uh 2023 lost from a setup to Coco go I think arena sabalenka is edging her way towards an eventual US Open title and closing the Gap to eanch in the rankings we'll have to see um sapena has also got the benefit of being the player who is the most consistent at slams I mean if if she only played at slams it would she'd probably still be similarly ranked um she's probably out of the play the most trusted to get to at least the semi-finals so with that being said yeah you have to go with Arin saena as the number one favorite going into New York so recap to finish off number 11 Mar kosic number 10 parosa number nine papor Kiker number eight Jasmine Pini number seven Elena Racha number six Danielle Collin number five Jean chin Wen number four Coco go number three Jessica Pula number two eion and number one for the first time in my power rankings history Arena sabalenka I hope you enjoyed this leave a comment am I being controversial with some of my picks here maybe not the top one but the order of everyone else maybe um you know what do you think of me including kic what do you think of me ranking Rebeca a solo is go too high drop us a comment let us know I'd love to sort of see your thoughts about this uh and yeah come join us as we build up for the US Open there'll be draw reactions there'll be ATP and WTA weekly shows previewing and going through all the draw and then the US Open proper starts and we will get to see a little bit more of tennis history made and I'm looking forward to sharing all of that with you but in the meantime take care and keep talking tennis if you enjoyed this video make sure you hit that like button don't forget to subscribe and click that notification Bell so you don't miss out on all things tennis good afternoon good evening good morning whatever time it is in the world wherever you are tuning in from I'm here to present my Power Rankings on the men's single side for the upcoming US Open 2024 to give you a clue into a little bit about my workings before I present this uh rundown I tend to go to just basically the world rankings okay and I look at the list of players and I look at the obvious ones and the slightly less obvious ones the May bees and the has been and the could bees and the should bees and then I Whittle it down to the final 10 which I will begin with almost immediately but I'm going to mention some players that are here in these world rankings that are not in the top 10 and I'm going to explain why so we can already see I can see four players here in this little group here all in ranked inside the top 10 but none of which make my power rankings Hubert herat barely played since Wimbledon and when he did he was was limping around the court not enough recent performances to suggest that he should be in the power rankings and also he's never been super deep at the US Open in the past Casper Roode similarly some injuries or certainly illness issues with him of late and again his pedigree in New York since making the final in 2022 or his basically his run last year cut short by xiin Jang uh suggests that again lots of doubts uh surrounding the Norwegian and therefore he doesn't make the cut either Alex De Manor similar health issues again barely played since Wimbledon I think he played the doubles at the Olympics and that's it so he's on the comeback Trail fingers crossed he can stay healthy for the rest of the year but he doesn't quite make my top 10 Gregor dimitro was probably the closest amongst all of these players to make it into the uh top 10 of my power rankings but again you know Grand Slam finals semifinals has been a bit of a thing of the past for grigor despite a pretty good 2023 uh on the whole Stephanos CIP pass also doesn't make my top 10 just form just form for Stephan Aus and of course we know the chaos in terms of the behind the scenes stuff other players that didn't make it Felix o alas Lorenzo MTI despite um uh some good form from him recently as well uh also didn't make the cut and nor perhaps controversially did hulga Runa again just not got the form despite that semi-final run don't forget he didn't really play any top players in that semi-final run in Cincinnati and as soon as he did he ran into Francis TFO who just edged him out of that semifinal so who does make my top 10 well coming in at number 10 is Andre ruv uh Andre again some question marks but he did make the final in Canada he has had deep runs before in New York he has got the quarterfinal pedigree that we know about and if he makes the quarterfinals then he would justify his inclusion in my top 10 number nine Tommy Paul Tommy Paul has got the pedigree in New York uh got knocked out by Ben Shelton I think it was last year has made a hardcore semifinal not too long ago in Australia in 2023 where of course he lost in straight sets to novat jovic I think he's improved slightly as a player since then and as a result he makes my number nine number eight the aforementioned Francis TFO edging out hulga Runa recently didn't quite do himself Justice in that Cincinnati final I don't think just recently a couple of weeks ago against Yanik sner where he lost in straight sets was very tight in that first set but in the end Yanik found the the whatever was required to basically pull away from Francis but um I still think Francis is due a good tournament I think the Wimbledon uh result he had against Carlos where he was up two sets to one against alcarez uh at this year's uh Wimbledon tournament and I think that was a nice turning point for him it was a loss a five set loss just like he had it to Carlos in 20122 when caros went on to one win the tournament and if he's going to have a mega Deep Run again at a slam says to me it's going to be in New York okay next on my list at number eight is is Ben Shelton or I should say number seven actually on my list is Ben Shelton Ben Shelton last year semifinalist yes he hasn't had the most consistent of 2024's but I think he has the game to deliver once more and he has got some Grand Slam pedigree having also gone deep in Australia okay next on my list is number six France next on my list is number six Taylor fre Fritz Taylor Fritz by the way um need to say something about him because this time last year I think he had a pretty bad loss to noat jovic where he just didn't seem to be able to offer anything different to what he'd done before in their encounters however he then played him in Australia and I think I saw some improvements and I've been thinking about that match pretty much all year long as I'm waiting for Taylor to really really have a really good Grand Slam run and I think it's going to come in New York York he got a difficult first round but this power ranking by the way a difficult first round against Mato bartini this power ranking is draw independent so we just ignore the draw and I continue on where I get to my number five which is a pretty easy pick actually for me Daniel Mev he's kind of in this no man's land right now where he's got the track record he's got the pedigree he's the hardcore specialist but hasn't won a title since Rome of last year uh obviously he got to the final in New York a year ago and he's also won this tournament in 2021 so there's plenty of pedigree there but actually recency bias is the reason why he doesn't make the top four because there are some doubts about his form as I say having not won a title since 2023 and obviously he made the finals this year in Indian Wells he got to the semifinal uh he also made the final of course in Miami as well back toback so it's still there or thereabouts but when he's coming up against the absolute top top players in the world he does tend to lose also his form in Cincinnati and Canada was scratchy so he is at number five on my list number four no surprise is probably Alexander zv doesn't quite crack the top three for reasons that I'll get into shortly but uh Zev this year has taken on my opinion another step forward uh where he's now pretty reliable okay he lost a sebie quarter uh recently but in terms of the slams if we think about it this year he was in the semi-final in Australia he was in the final of the French Open and only injury I think really cut short his Wimbledon run so he's pretty reliable these days especially in grand slams and over five sets and for me he has the game he could even be lifting the title uh in a couple of weeks from now there may still be just one or two mental hurdles for him to overcome though he is to achieve that goal number three on my list now this is where it gets tricky Noak jovic the 24 time Grand Slam winner yes a multiple US Open winner including last year's event when he beat down on ever straight sets comes in at number three it's a paper thin difference between the top three players in the world right now but I've gone for Novak at number three why his 2024 form Olympics aside Wimbledon final You could argue was by his very high standards no great shakes uh losing early in Indian Wales uh losing in the semi-final was it to Casper Rudin Monte Carlo uh also losing in Geneva um etc etc and he's run to the Wimbledon final did not impress me much Shai Twain reference there um because he didn't really play any top top top players on Route had quite a nice draw got a pretty nice draw in New York but if we think about his year as a whole the Olympics aside I think and even the Olympics he basically has to win one match to get that gold medal and he did it and he did it phenomenally well but for me his 2024 form is the reason why he doesn't quite make the top two and by the way for many others he may well make your top two or maybe even your top one do get in the comments section below and let me know your thoughts okay number two on my list Yanik sinner how will he be dealing with the controversy regarding uh himself at the moment in regarding obviously the doping scenario that he had where he did provide a positive test or bit he managed to appeal that and show that there was no intent and there was no negligence involved in uh taking on board the steroid but how is he going to deal with the whole fuori around it well you could argue that he's dealt with it for six months or bit we didn't know about it pretty impressively obviously in the last six months he has one in Miami for example he has uh got to the quarterfinals at wimbl he has made the semi-finals at the French Open and so on and so forth one in Hala as well among other things but some question marks lost to Andre rublev Rec recently um how is he over five set still seems to struggle at the absolute you know depths of it I know he won a five set final against Daniel Mev in Australia this year but um Daniel was just completely completely knacked by the time that final came around having had so many five set matches and lengthy matches on Route so those doubts remain but he is the first or second best player in the world right now on hardore courts possibly even maybe even more of a clear number one so he has to be for me in the top three and for me in the top two actually but he doesn't quite make number one for some of the reasons I just highlighted and my number one pick going into the US Open is Carlos alarz I know he lost a mon in Cincinnati recently but if we put that just into context here compare it with the US Open that was three sets I still fancy Carlos to win those matches over five we've seen him go down like we did to Francis for example uh earlier this year like we did to zvv as well in in Paris so over the five sets things can get away from him but he gets it back so I've got Carlos alcarez at my number one I also trust him over five sets a lot more than I do yanic sinner uh for example and even some of the other players on my list he's got to be in the top three it's then just a case of where you put the first second and third I've gone for the US Open champion from 2022 uh he's got the pedigree he loves the hard courts comparing it to Cincinnati as well I will add this these courts will suit car us just a little bit more I think they are a bit slower despite some of the comments pre- tournament that they were going to basically have very very similar court level speeds to Cincinnati but the conditions in the US Open in New York little bit more humid sometimes in New York and a little bit more suited for me for the Carlos style of game as we saw in Indian Wales for example earlier this year maybe Indian Wales Miami is an interesting comparison with Cincinnati and New York Cincinnati being sort of Miami like and New York maybe being a little bit more not quite as gritty and as slow as Indian Wales but for that reason I have Carlos alcarez at my number one quick Refresh on my top 10 number 10 Andre rublev number nine Tommy Paul number eight Francis tifo number seven Ben Shelton number six Taylor Fritz number five Daniel Mev number four Alexander verev number three Novak jovic number two Yanik Sinner and number one Carlos alcarez do let me know your thoughts on my my power rankings get in those comments below and uh yeah tell me whether you agree or disagree until now see you soon [Music] ready [Applause] play good afternoon good morning good evening whatever time it is in the world wherever you are tuning in from for Nick and I it is mid to late afternoon but if you in New York it's 11:00 a.m. how are you Nick I am doing good John I am very very happy this US Open has finally started I've been waiting for days for us to get underway and uh I can't think of many better matches than this one to kick us off yeah there's a few highlights from today and I think this has to be up there I mean if an Anis MBA brings it like she did in Canada for example then Jen might have a problem or two yeah I mean when I made the the power ranking um and I put jengas five I did not this was obviously just blind pre-draw um and then Anis Sova comes in and she was obviously a contender to get on in the first place and I was like oh oh great so you've already got upset alert straight away out the door and yeah two of the form players from the post Wimbledon period um are clashing in round one it's not a good draw for either of them no that's a good point and sometimes when you're the player as well I think it's important to remember uh because when you're Kim W Jang or Kim W Jang fan for example you're going oh I can't believe I've got Anis MOA but if you're an an MOA fan then you're also thinking I can't believe I've got Kim W Jang in the first round but obviously Amanda is a wild card although I believe is is her ranking now must have severely improved after that Canada run pretty much top 50 now I think um yeah but too late for um a direct entry into this tournament yeah unfortunately she needed it to be there around there after Wimbledon Canada was a bit too late uh I think ghost is referencing the color of our tops today I mean look all the best best people wear red yeah burgundy really or Clara I don't know something like this right uh no mine's actually pretty red it's just you can't the lighting okay maybe it's the lighting maybe it's I've got I've got a bright light and you got a sort of dim light at 2024 win loss record 31 and 13 for Kim Wen Jang uh but of course her year is really all about that Olympic gold medal I mean I know you you can also look at the Australian Open final run but that sort of transforms your year from being pretty good to just amazing right yeah I think a little bit gold its own gives you an amazing year anyway um I think uh she I think with the Australian Open final it's kind of putting her up there as like one of the leading uh forces on the WTA tour at the minute and uh I think it's going to be a big um uh I think I'm to see how she's going to play the rest of the season how she's going to take that kind of Confidence from finally winning that Olympic medal um especially when we come around to plague in China which there are two WTA 1000s um in play I always feel as though as a fan I have a slight dip post US Open um that probably you know maybe Vienna and Basel sort of bring me back a little bit uh the Asian swing of course we didn't have for a few years is because of Co and one of to other issues of course so it's now back on the calendar but um the time zone as well is yeah it's a little little different for us isn't it it's like the finals are basically sort of 11: a for us aren't they yeah um which you know if you've got plans for Sunday lunch with your family don't necessarily work out um but uh notless they tennis fans of course uh got bra's got his eye on bck versus Jerry Shang yeah that's a good I didn't even think about that one that's today is it crazy I didn't know that's happening right now on cour 11 um that's a match that I would say that like if it were if you're on the US Open grounds um go see although having said that it doesn't look like the stands are that full like you can get into Louis Armstrong stadium with a ground pass and uh there's plenty of empty seats there if you want to check this one out there have been comments on social media about ticket prices which seem to be just going up Beyond I think reliably that the US Open is actually sold out um so any tickets are available are at a premium yeah I mean sold out and sold out I'm very um uh what's the word skeptical about this expression in tennis because you know the French Open finally sold out six months in advance and then the night before you go on the website and there's tickets available if you like plus sold out as well the other the other second part of sold out which is related to the first part as well is the corporate nature of it in terms of there will be 2,000 tickets in this stadium for example that are just purely for corporate and they are sold out but who knows where those individuals are right now yeah maybe on their way um but those who are on the stadium in for retreat and hopefully you guys are going to enjoy us sort of talking through uh our take on what's Happening as it's happening yeah I'm just going to share some other live scores I I I bet my stream will be slightly behind cuz I'm relying on sky sport so am I yeah Sky Sports Germany we'll see you'll see what I mean yeah yeah know I know Sky Sports and British Sky Sports were a little different but when when you said the players were coming on to court they were about five or 10 seconds away let's see I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than that though in terms of the difference between where we're at um uh let's see I've got them I've got them practicing serves at the moment anyway yeah well we actually have one match that's now started um which is Elina Selina has got underway on court five against Maria Carl um and Di ster is underway against K Nar and they've played two points in that match already yeah in fact citan has already won the first game oh there you go yeah C won the first game so you go that's why go stop the count stop the count SP on way yeah um any thoughts on this match in terms of predictions on paper you're saying Jon wi mhm um but the reality is is that Anand Anova is not going down without a fight so this is probably going three I think um and then I think it's going to come down to who's going to hold their nerve I maybe trusting slightly more yeah I'm going Shang in three as well um it's sort of just because I'm not 100% convinced about either player in in various different ways but I I'm also convinced I mean like as I say Anison she brings it there might not be a lot that Jen can do we'll see but um I think we kind of know the level from Jen I know that you know she didn't did she play Canada no she didn't play Canada did she she probably played Cincinnati got last 16 yeah by the way uh Jen won the first point with a return winner that hit the Baseline nice good stuff I'm about to see that point but um yeah so it's I mean maybe I keep saying it it's sounds like I'm putting it on anova's racket maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration against you know the seven seed and you say that an is the kind of player who when she's on the matches on her racket it's just how often she's on yeah yeah s maybe a sort of ostop Peno light yeah I've just seen that return of serve lovely a second serve of course but yeah I mean the followup we're I'm just seeing the third point of the match now and Anis M's won that with a backhand crosscourt winner um the second point was Lo was lost by Jen who put a full hand in the net so both players looking to bring it brazy I want you to elaborate on what this togate issue is not an upt ax in okay thanks bra um Matthew I think Sak's draw is not bad um I can't remember where I had her getting to but I had her getting a little bit further than I would have thought which probably suggests that her draw isn't too bad actually I did my brackets last night yeah I think I've got zakary I I looked at and I went Sak's got potential to make at least round three if she doesn't get any kind of Slam nerves um I can't remember who's in her but then I looked at like who else is in that section and I think she'll run to trouble around round three round four um yeah she's in the Kika section yeah probably I have her maybe losing to kikao maybe before um let me have a look I've got my I've got my um WT I don't have the draw but I've got my WTA weekly notes and that was giving me players in from certain sections um uh let's have a look as Anis M Clos out the first game to 30 so good start for her should me who I've got going far that it's probably controversial Naomi Osaka oh which could of course all done in round one I know but I've got her going far I I yeah no her round one draw is not actually contending to be because a Pega is the kind of player who would self-destruct who could self-destruct against her so a Pena's a wonderful match for Saka it's more she seems to struggle to maintain momentum at the minute and that and she's in a she's in a very very competitive section that includes Carolina muker Lea Fernandez Anastasia poova um Jasmine Pini Lind Noosa ulia ped saver if she's the one that's going to come out of that mess uh she's gonna have to fight like crazy for it um so it's not it's not implausible but we need to see whether we get that sort of name him assaka slam roller coaster uh that she can carry through as we've seen her do before um and by the way I'm looking at Sak's draw and yeah she'd have to get through one of Kika BOS as a ranker to get to the to get to the quarterfinals probably I've got her going out to PSA in the round of 16 so there you go yeah so you've got sakur beating what would it be um her first two or three rounds aren't bad I mean listen I know what you mean about the you know a little bit of form I would say has gone off for her since since a good run in Indian Wales for example uh obviously she had a very short stint with David wit didn't she that didn't work out but her draw is just pretty good I'm just having a look see who her third round is against oh um yfan Wong I've got in the third round for her um got oh so that's the first round so I've got her winning that one then I've got in the second round her beating someone you know sakur I've just see the score sakar is just safe break point against Wong okay the opening game oh yeah yeah I can see it as well shared on our screens back to D brutal back hand winner from a man and this m to move to love 30 in this um J opening Ser again Amanda's turned to hit a backhand return winner the the Montreal sorry the Toronto final the Canada final let's call it it makes it a lot easier between her and Pula I mean it was kind of a bit strange in that so fast it was 1 hour I'm going to say 1 hour 25 1 hour 30 for a three set match uh was was pretty quick short rallies from both players except for I think the last couple of points which took a while um but uh yeah that on another day she does win that I mean it was a third set she seemed to run out a bit of steam in that third set and that's why I think Pula won it reasonably comfortable in theend I've just seen that backhand return by the way lovely and now Jen's actually got three break points to try and save at love 40 I was really going to the attack of the service game she got a second Ser to look out from Jen Jen's short with the forehand inside out five she wait for too much out 5040 you thought you thought she was going to win that one I did think so but like she was teeing off for an inside out forehand returns by the way I've just seen the one for love 40 sorry yeah yeah she's going for this Rudy's going for it um oh Eddie Eddie's saying hello I think is he is that our Eddie or is that a different Eddie I don't know I was I'm making assumption it's R but maybe it's not um if whatever anyway they're writing in a language I don't understand and somewhere from Asia yeah this is why I already but yeah I don't I don't unfortunately I don't speak that um any could be saying it could be saying some horrific things I don't know quickly baned them um I see why you thought Anis M would win that point I mean it was an inside out forehand but went wide in the end um osaku and Peno play tomorrow yes I think yeah second match on Armstrong tomorrow after um take after Collins and dohy J can't find a first surf right now oh and saak has been broken yeah after I mean like it's not unrescued Jang has saved all three break points w wow wow wow wonder how important this game will be coming the end of the match yeah I mean an was trying to bring it to Jen um but Jen is currently um she's now figured out how to fend her off a bit and maybe an SM is getting a bit tight kind of going uh this quickly in her favor and that's the thing about Anna Sova she is a player who does get tight sometimes okay i' definely had seen her a couple of times in um when she had that Toronto final run uh I think she' get into a couple of matches that went three sets unnecessarily particularly her uh her semi-final run her seminal thir great Point save Nick I mean she's well down in the rally she's really done well to get a racket on that was sort of a defensive shot but it was pretty low over the net in fact so much so that it clipped the net and pretty much helped her win the point she still has some work to do with the passing shot definitely but um huge relief I mean oh neet cords yes I do bra I am a coffee drinker although I've not had one today you're doing well gets Ace there bra you have to tell us if there's any more drama in the uh yeah right the other match Shang bub which I think could be quite entertaining yeah any broken falina oh yes so she has any optimism for um Dommy team against Shelton um y because you're covering that in 40 minutes aren't you yeah uh I have some I think given how um their their match last year at the US Open went um and maybe Dominic might be playing playing a bit Freer at the minute um I think Dominic's going to come out feeling pretty confident that he can take it to Ben and he's if he's feeling fit I can see him getting a set or two and making it and then if you get two sets then it's kind of game on really so um yeah I'm optimistic that he's gonna he's gonna give himself a good showing at his what will be his final US Open who would have thought he his final US Open would be four years after he won it as Jen hold huge hold that one for Jen um some people making their moves ready on the men's side s up a break on his compatriot Mar I think Mar is a luck a loser there actually was s he was supposed to play ruso wasn't he it was yeah yeah uh lucad is down a break to Roberto Bautista a good Spaniard rolling Back The Years Gro up a break on Krueger and in the other matches Uber Montero winsky and caras Baya they are on serve the matches Eddie have indeed started have indeed um and we'll be kind of we're here to kind of talk with you guys whilst we watch this is a watch along um so yeah let us know what you think about the matches um or if you needed to describe what's going on to you then we're more than happy to do that Becca up a break as well I have I have ER Andre winning that by the way so that's at least and Wong has held as held serve against Zachary so yeah the Andre V1 match um is one that I looked at and I went I genuinely can't call who's going to win that um so that would be that could be quite fun for those who on court nine get themselves like a niche epic although unless Andre Erica really kind of motives it because she she she should have picked up some confidence from winning um against Daniel Collins and Monteray by the way speaking of confidence and anova's just hit an amazing backand up the line winner I on the left hand side I can remember I went veic Eric Randa Spina and yasta um no great predictions they obviously swi in a little bit of trouble already and I know I went sacker Jen and kazakina uh I don't remember who I put between Dian parry and Wong uh I would well yes so for those like Parry and Wong like much it pains me to say I'm actually going with Wong to win that one um I think she's got a bit did go Wong yeah I did go Wong yeah as Jen net it's 40 La Sova um brazy yeah uh Linda Noka for winning in Monteray um huge for her I'm really pleased for her it's about like I I was saying to Mario on WTA weekly um it feels like it's about time even though she's still 19 but she's one of those players been waiting until she gets a hand on WTA trophy for it to be a 500 is really good I think uh you have to playing really well to win a 500 in the current ERA uh and yeah I think this feels Justified for sort of the talent level that she's showing right now and I'm hoping that now that's kind of off her back she might loosen up and play with a bit more confidence I don't have her doing well at the US Open just because of the turnaround from Monteray and that's the only reason do with her Talent um but I could see her being a big factor when we go to Asia so yeah very excited I gather it was a very good match or at least the first set was very good between her and Lulu son yeah lot's going on yeah as an holds to love controlled that game really well and it has to be said Jung did well to hold eventually but Anova does seem to have got the better start of the two uh sorry I think I was off the air for a second but I'm back now right uh yeah you're back I didn't see you leave oh okay it was just um I was just changing my microphone I hadn't plugged it in and then when you do that sometimes it makes me disappear I did wonder why you were sounding so uh far away ah okay the poll has Jen at 5941 that sounds about right to me interesting I mean prettyat I would agree with you um I like based on these first three games that should close up yeah well it might well do um yeah that's the other thing for me about nosha is her she's got Putin sa in the first round I think I even got I'm not making great predictions about her in the the US Open um I think you know you can't you can't take the 500 in Monterey and say great she's going to do really well at the US Open partly because of the draw and partly because of the travel turnaround involved um so I'm but I'm my competence is more more looking longer term than the two weeks sakar is in another fight on her own serve uh Spina does have a break point uh to get back on serve against the Argentinian Cara Cara beat um beat ruk CaRu didn't she in maybe Madrid this year uh yeah yes that was probably one of Andrew ruk kanu's worst matches of the year and what has been on the whole a pretty decent season for her um that was probably the low point but other than that there's great to for an error from Jen um other than that I think Emma's season has been pretty good for someone that you would expect to be kind of a top 50 player yep uh Shang and buck are on server to all Grenier is seeking to consolidate uh his break advantage over Kruger and Bautista has indeed also Bautista has also Consolidated his break to lead three love over Luca nardy uh Stricker comma yeah that one could go either way um Stricker of course he can rekindle his uh run from last year that would be amazing for the Swiss uh he beat of course Stephanos cityy pass on Route I think I have Cy pass having his having his best Us open yet but that's not difficult but um it's all about really the cockin AIS match I think he could go the first round I've got him getting to the last 16 by the way that's it's not it's not amazing but he's not been beyond the round third round yeah it's doable for him and you're right he's never been around past the third round I think it is doable for him this year I think he's he's in a tough section isn't like if he gets past kakis it was kakis is the main one but let me just have a quick look there could be other had kakis losing in the very next ratch to someone else who was actually quite good let me have a look I have City Pass beating Nuno boures in the next round boures that's right so actually I have Nuno boures going on run this USA and then I have sitz pass speaking yob menik oh yeah sorry oh what a rally between these two Anis brought up two break points 1540 um great uh sort of cat and mouse point from the two players with an M defending really well at the net with a lovely sort of drop shot and Jen just missed the pass not by much and the previous point the 15 30 point again it's all about the anisimova return just killing it uh bra I believe public versus Shang is caught 11 yes it is yeah I'm not surprised people are going to see it because I think Jerry shang's quite well known in the US after his UTS Antics the the shot before I think the sort of penultimate shot or the one before that Jen really should have done better with the passing shot and she sort of hit it kind of at an over but it was actually quite an easy volley for Amanda oh another returna that looks like oh she just missed the line she just missed it she went on the attack with a crosscourt forehand and it just missed so 30 40 is she going to get out of jail again at some point if she does those missed opportunities are going to start having to weigh heavily on an Sova but we don't miss opportunity until it happens calina didn't break back so calina in trouble at the minute forand um seeing uh comment from Matthew here into a long rally here and SM trying to get on the attack T again really going with the back hand huge backand from Jean Shin Wen to win the point juice uh kakina breaks lead 3-2 hope she wins uh as I quite like her Vlogs okay do you know what I had kakina losing her match against Christian I thought Christian would win that one okay yeah I mean you got to go for a few surprises having you along the way yeah don't listen to me through earphones that's just generally good advice Parry leading three love over Wong okay going different way than we both thought so far yeah yeah so far loving having everyone that chat by the way this is great this is a proper watch party here proper party I I found the the um the chats in the last month or so maybe even a bit longer have been always pretty Lively there's always a good five I mean I remember not even that long ago six 12 months ago sometimes there might be one person in the chat it might be go ghosty me you and ghosty basically um and um yeah but now there's always a good six 10 12 people you know regular in all with great contributions and all tremendous fun yeah and Yeah Yeah by large um don't name names here no name me no names um but um yeah yeah no it helps a lot yeah definitely break point for for an again second Ser for J and on the attack with their return this time she gets it she's got it but she forces an error from J with a huge backhand return she's finally up in the match 3-1 I just don't know what Jen can do in terms of I mean other than hope that anim over misses these returns because it's putting kinw in all sorts of bother yeah and I can see now why Anisa is so so dangerous to someone like sabalenka because sabalenka is such a front foot player V's return is fing against her she's going to get pushed back I'm looking at the the the the point where she breaks right now she's about or she's was a meter inside the Baseline but then she steps back to the Baseline but again it's the return that does the damage taking time away from kinw and not much she can do about it absolutely not and let's see if she can consolidate though she's just put a backand into the net after a very short second surf so again then this is the big weakness for over the nerves do play a big part with her uh the uh Carla is a double break up once with now 4-1 yeah and I can see Andre a double break up on Andre as well as a double break up as well yeah um ah yes uh bra Yeah Eddie is a much Karma commentator I would say um very nice to listen to um for sure I hope we get him doing talking yeah he's in New York oh he's there brilliant oh yeah no he did mention that he's certainly there for qualifying I and I'm pretty sure he's there for some parts of the first week I think um Nardi has broken back against Bautista a good all the um all the updates coming um it does seem that Shang Buck is the most closely contested match out there right now did you see much of qualifying no I wasn't able to for some reason like something always came up which meant I couldn't watch something I saw hoinsky against um Maxim cressie oh I was asleep when that happened yeah maybe not start to finish but certainly The Lion Share of it and uh it was a good watch it was a little bit messy at times messy from cresy in particular um and a little bizarre uh there was one for example ches has a match point 4015 on his serve and there's a ball looping up a very puta away Vol volley basically very putable away volley if that makes sense yeah and he decides to let it go and it lands in and then it goes to 4030 and from that moment onwards there were one or two other bizarre match points L this in fact I think hoinsky lost one as well uh in the tie break but uh yeah it was one that got away from cresy put it that way Ho's actually in action right now on course that's what made me think of it I can see him yeah one two yeah but break point down potentially uh break point down against kayz I actually think that could be a winable match for hoinsky oh it's winnable yeah I mean I've seen hoinsky quite a few times this year he was in Esther real he was in we Das and he was also in BN the B open so from B open to US Open b a turn around an is trying to Surf this this game out by the way at 4030 um it's not been super clean so far let's see if she gets it oh first serve just misses the line unfortunately so uh she was going for a t- serve kind of Ang angling away from J go try something else on the second Jong goes for her own rocket return massively over hits it and Anova holds 41 41 that's uh it's a nice you said Carl was a double break up on sine didn't you uh yeah why did I make a mistake with that no no you were right yeah yeah you got me a bit you got me a little bit concerned not like not big style but uh yeah no no you're you're fine um I think Wong is now a double break up on zakary as well oh Maria your fun anyway ever since I said about I think it was about May June this year or may time this year I said I think Maria's back or Maria's playing the best tennis of her career ever since I did that video oh dear veic is still up a break on berel Andrea is M ER Andrea is two points away from a five love lead over Yuan but Spina does have some break back points against car trying to get his well get one of those breaks back um Wong is back on serve with Parry yeah just just broke as well yeah yeah so lots happening all around um has to be said like yes I I did not think that Carla would be that much of a threat as falina but that would be probably the first I am G to say upset because I thought SP was looking decent coming into this yeah and she looked very good at the US Open last year in fact from across the three slams that she played last year super consistent you know going deep all in all three I think she was maybe fourth round the US Open last year I might be wrong on that I remember having a really good match with pav Chena that she emerged the winner of and I'm thinking that was the third round she would have been was she semi-finals at Wimbledon last year semis at Wimbledon yeah and I think Quarters at the bench I think yes lost sabalenka yeah that's the thing with um Spina this year is since she got injured in Australia because she had really good opportunity there um and just got injured in the last 16 because I think she was playing nosha would have got your strs go and then junin Wen um as Jong currently Jong is struggling to De with another huge return from Amanda's Andis Mo for love 15 um uh but then after that I think she's already really brought like she's had some good runs at only like two tournaments and that was Rome Where She Went toe toe with sabalenka and then Wimbledon where she made quarters lost to raka yeah so yeah I think she's got one of the breaks back by the way okay so C back is on for El Felina yes sir yeah kakina serving for the set of 52 there Nick is uh not not happening at the moment no um and like I suppose with Christian I I thought Christian might Shar this tournament but maybe she's more of a clay player yeah I've got yasta beating neiah uh Nei for me uh is largely about the grass a little bit about the clay and she's fine on a hardc court but she's just she doesn't stand out as much she's good on a fast hardc Court I would say um I've seen her play on like faster hard courts and she's pretty good on those um bra keing us updated with um uh Shen against buck that does seem to be the most closely contested match so far um with I did I tell you my mom nearly walked into new Jula Nar at Wimbledon oh okay no I didn't know this story so you you've been you you've been to wimon right you know they've got the practice courts yeah where like you can go you stand behind a a line like a sort of a ribbon there uh to watch and so like we were seeing we could see like we were pretty much next to Karen HOV Bianca andru walked right past us and then we were kind of like well we we stood there for about 15 minutes 15 20 minutes they were like well I think we've we've seen people changing over for their practice let's go and actually watch A Match now and uh the attendant said oh if you're leaving you know I'll let you through the ribbon and you just need to just go straight out mom decided she just wanted to get one last photo stopped and wasn't paying attention as hul Nei walked out of her practice and nearly into [Music] [Laughter] her Mom keep walking we're supposed oh never mind imagine imagine Ula neemi breaking news she's out of Wom Wimbledon uh because um uh some lady bumped into her and stood on her foot or something yeah I think she actually then rocketed through her Opening match like what it was how she did wi this year but um s under a little bit of pressure on her Ser at 1530 uh kinw Jen has got a game point for two which she does not get because you've got a huge forand from Anis Sova that is impossible for any player to get back so it's back to Due or he's on due sorry yeah bra's updating us saying that um Shang has broken to love ah there we go so he's gonna serve for the first set I think I had Buck win in that but but yes uh Shang g off to a good start it would seem after this tightly contested first set does see uh one of the two players blink and better his seven for the first set as well at 52 um we've gotov has now got another break point as again uh Je when tries to go an inside out back hand and puts it in the net um if anyone's watching the par match let me know how she's doing because absolutely love watching her um but yeah yeah lot compliments her one-handed backhand like Top Spin forehand one-handed backhand dream player for me Great Rally going on between these two to contest this break points exchanging forehand it does feel like is just trying to live with and man Sova and she can't cuz in the end she Nets with a backand Anna Sova is going to serve 5-1 double break for the first set wow wow we might be wrapping up just around the time that uh Team Shelton well how long can anim MOA keep this level going that is that is the key to the match and it was probably the key to the match beforehand as well as I said I did tip King W to win and I'm still you know I'm still not convinced that we're going to see this level for Amanda nonstop for for the length of time that she'll need to bring it to win this match but yeah the first set of this year's US Open has been won by Daria cassad kinaa 62 indeed it has so well done Quest her latest quest to prove Nick Carter wrong um Dominic Stricker Alexander zv and and Jerry Shang are not far behind they all serving for their respective sets against their respective opponents Stricker just recently got the break there hoinsky is down a Break by the way to carbas Baya and uh yeah Grenier is up a break on Kruger uh Jen has run down an a drop shot um which was definitely getable and uh made it love 15 I I do agree with Anna Sova um yeah she does have these dips um and can get a bit nervous um to answer ghosty's question it's a focus issue I think I don't think it's Fitness it's not is Fitness but it's even not for me Nick it's not even focus it's just law of averages yeah you know you're you're trying to paint constantly and it so I guess you could you can link it to focus but um it's she just dou faulted by the way yeah yeah well there you go that that might be Focus so it's it's if it's anything it's it's focused but I would also just go you know you go for 10 shots you're probably going to make seven um to some extent and if you make nine in a row then yeah the law of aage says you might mess up on six more well she's messed up again double F again love 40 for Jen to get one of the breaks back and suddenly Anis samova cannot get a Ser over the net her last five service deliveries have ended up in the net Shen's going second which is in the court oh she gets the luckiest of Lucky net cords all the backhand return and breaks to love to delay anisimova getting this set and Carla has re extended or whatever the word is got the double break Advantage once again is going to serve for the first set over Spina 52 um as I said that's going to make Coco go happy because falina was her potential third round opponent okay yeah Go's draw not too bad from memory um so not for the first two rounds no she's pretty good like Spina was one in the third round I could see seen that being a real banana skin for her and kazak Keen is making a good start to the second set as well I'm going to switch over here and I expect to see one or two people having one there respective sets I see Z has won the first set over Mara 62 Mara he was also in Bon I think Stricker has won that set over Kam sna and Shang has two set points uh in the first set over Alexander boob lick H oh is up a break now as well on Mona that that slipped Me by what s You by sorry uh I didn't realize that uh was up a break on Monto no I I think we C there's a lot of stuff to keep up with I wonder who got that who got the set first in the men's side whether it was F or striet probably f it was nip and T they were both serving pretty much forward at the same time but I don't know who who got over the line in terms of the first one might have certainly not Shang though because B has got it back to juice yeah Shang having some trouble closing out not surprising in what is what is looking like as said as we said a very competitive match was Shang on the other side of the net when we had some M antiques I'm going to say was it Madrid or Paris I can't remember now I think it was yeah yeah there was an epic they had between the two of them in on a clay Court event um I think it was when when when when he was when um mutet was asking for uh coffee I think it was that match yeah because I was hearing all kinds of noises about this crazy match that was happening on an outside Court oh bra sh does indeed eventually close out the first set though bra says so thank you for that Anova already going on the attack with the return and definitely like it does seem to me that this set Amanda Ana is much more confident on return than on serve whereas Jun chin Wen uh you could probably say the same given uh maybe you say the same although having said that she's probably being pushed back by the an some over return and Jun just not netted a forehand cross from the net so love 30 uh yeah I would say more confident returning right now than serving but Jung's return is nowhere near as effective and SM as is right now I'm giggling because I think from ghosty's reaction that he's not aware of this story about the coffee uh yeah it was about midnight as well in in in in Madrid I'm pretty sure and uh surely would be enough yeah I with mutet there is some you know stuff going on that could be gamesmanship could be all sorts of stuff I don't know whether he really did feel the necessity to have a a shot of coffee um or not there's normally other things that Sports people will take on uh oh he is aware he is aware yeah he is aware but yeah he just finds it hilarious yes indeed MCH divides I always look at him as a case by case individual um I don't mind the coffee one I think that is funny uh do I think he I also think that he was largely in the right in Chile when he was having a lot of issues with the crowd there when he was playing Nicholas xar Nicholas xar of course a Chilean but does he cross the line sometimes probably but Case by case two set points for amand overa as Jong chin Wen again breaks down in a full hand to forand Rally uh that was this time going over the Baseline instead of into the net and it's two set points for the American uh which could put her half way to an upset of seeding if you know the quality of these two players you wouldn't necessarily call this result an upset given that they you know given their pedigrees and their CVS um not an upset I agree but it would have to be near the top of the the head if Jen wins this match it's probably not at the top of the headlines but if anisimova wins it it does sort of add another layer to the to the headlin of the of the situation Jung picks off a crazy short ball from Anis Sova saves one of the set points 340 what's this about M whacking balls at a Russian guy during their warm up yeah I think I've heard something about this as well that he was hit p a bit too hard during a warmup yeah all yeah I mean like this does not surprise me with this guy um I I bu yet I feel like that could end in a fight yeah just watching some of these points here I'm watching the first one that was sa an sova's backhand return failing her just it it wasn't out by much but uh it is to juice yeah okay I didn't know that pad Gilbert would drink coffee all the time during his matches it was the 80s it's a different time it doesn't count yeah Jane was in your power rankings but I I'm not quite sure was she seven probably something like that five and she was very close to being four actually okay I came into this un open with a lot of confidence in her and then I told first round I was like really at the end of this game I'll I've got a 30 second video with your with your power rankings go for it um we're into a rally at the minute um lots of stuff going on Jen Nets again so now it's another set point for Anova again just being pushed back bya which did go in this time and kasak already a break up in the second set against Christian so she's really running away with this one set point number three for Amanda Andis mova first delivery from Jen is really good that was a first set when she needed it Anova couldn't get uh anything well she got really swung through it but she H yeah there was too much power on it to get back in court and it's back to ju so we're a five minute game got one of the breaks back K's got set point though W yon has got the zakary 62 yeah and that but that that set point is on S Dela serve but yes and jul Nei has got a break against Yanka for 43 last woman to break this match I think this this tournament oh backhand winner from Jen that was lovely absolutely lovely so j's got gain Point um to force Anis Sova to serve the set out again and we know how that went when she last tried to serve out at 51 let's see if it goes any better for her at 53 she'd really want to break now second serve for Jen coming up Jen player who was on my power ranking backhand attack on on the attack for an on the return it's long Jen holds all right I'm going to play this video when the video is done you will be alone Nick okay okay number 11 Mar kosic number 10 palosa number nine Bor Kiker number eight Jasmine palini number seven Elena Racha number six Danielle Collins number five Jean chinen number four Coco goof number three Jess bagula number two eion and number one for the first time in my power rankings history Arena sabalenka [Music] it's the telis hillybillies here um so there you go power rankings if you not seen them before let me know what you think of them I mean so far not going great for me um I might have to keep a tally of who makes it through from them um forehand on the attack from Anis Sova trying to close this set out backhand crosscourt backhand young up the line and Nets the forehand under pressure from Jen love 15 yeah uh yeah tennis Hill yeah ho down like it yeah that's also you could also use that in the context of some tennis matches maybe I think only miles would find that funny if he was here um and already and over again not finding the service that she needs to close this out she's double faled again love 30 um I do want to uh um clarify like there are some other honorable mentions that didn't make it in uh to the power ranking obious started with cuk who's still in the tournament um foran in in play from Jen who's under attack from an Sova finish gets the job down into the Open Court 1530 um I know you been sh about sort of three or four players having predictable results um I'd never bet on tennis because I don't like risking money on things um but I know what you mean like there's only a like yeah there's a reason why the top the top three or four in the world are the top three or four in the world because they show up almost every tournament I don't think we've ever really really had a an era where more than three or four regularly showed up for every tournament huge attempt at a return from Jen dragged wide on the forehand 30 all and M might might be rescuing the situation here to try and close this set out but Jen is showing that she's not going away and I did say this one would could go three we're not saying an over's in control even if she does get this set oh oh an is looking frustrated because the first half at the te was just wide and she's frustrated looked really really good short attack from Jen for hand into the net for break point Jen to get us back on serve after being a double break down this m this momentum of the sets really swung here by the way if you are wondering where John's gone um we are going to be doing another stream simultaneously for oh oh um well I was going to say about the um good grief there's news happening everywhere schw has now informed us that sakur has retired that's a shock she very rarely retires there's obviously something very wrong there for her to pull out um and clear there was something very wrong for her in her match with W yon so sakar is out huge forehand from Jen putting an under pressure is Jung going to finish off here he lets it she lets it bounce goes on the inside out forand she gets it she breaks we're back on serve 4 five Maria zakary is out of the US Open on a retirement that is a shock 62 I don't know if anyone was watching Court 17 was there a medical timeout or anything like that but that's big news so we have our first result and it's a walkover it's not ideal but for one year F she's probably going to be happy that she's got through that match out first top 10 player out of the US Open junin W might be about to turn things around for her um I don't think you can call that sacker his fault though this time for not going too deep in the tournament uh you know body letting you down I don't think that that could ever be said that's a player's fault it's not like other early slam exits that Zachary's had but there you go so bit of a disappointment out there on Lou arms uh disappointment out there on court 17 for those um who were looking forward to that match uh so I guess well um they're going to have to call out the nexile players to make sure that they're ready um just checking to see who that would be C seven I think that's rude against bu so I think Casper rude she'll be coming out soon um in the next or 10 to 15 minutes on that Court um and by the way yeah to say what I was in the middle of before I saw that breaking news John is going to be doing a stream um for team versus Shelton which is obviously the other big match and what an opener on Arthur rash that one's going to be but I hope that you will stick with me because this one's turning into something uh fairly special as well um kab Bay has the first against yany we're going Bear's got the first against Thiago Montero it's it's actually staying Mar's making a bit closer with fa in the second set Shang bublick is again super close in the second Christian got the break back against kasak keina veic is serving for the first set against Kimberly Burrel we've got set points for Eric Andrea on court eight um Carl's got the first set six3 against falina and uh yeah um you serving set we've got Wong wongu uh trying to avoid losing D and Parry as forehand goes long from xang under pressure from the an over return love 15 you are as upsate as we can be on right now I will see if we get any other set results coming your way mainly looking at women's game I would say so that's love 15 uh seeing what's going on uh was she injured from before the start of the first round I mean probably I don't know I haven't seen the match so I don't know if she went over if she didn't fall over or anything during the match or she didn't tweak something during the match then yes but no kind of uh indication of that as the return goes into the net 15 all bra still thinking we Court 17 better out of it I could see why you wor fit this Dave but I I don't often see any kind of concerns for a player in that regard physically I think she should be fine she goes three set she wins them UNR returnable surf from J 315 kakina looking to get the first break Eric Andre has closed the first against oneway Dean Parry two points away from the first against wongu happening all over all over it's a shame that John left for before Zak we we heard the news about Zachary he literally just missed it that would been a fun interesting talking point with John oh huge return from Anova forcing an arrow from Jen it's 30 all and an's now two points away from the set once again she's had set points remember at 52 young serving interesting brazy you're saying you think you don't you don't see like I I'm not watching the public much but I I'm looking at the scores and um I it looks competitive according to scores but obviously you're seeing seeing Shang is playing much better is shang's medal in her tennis bag I don't think it is it's probably stowed away in China somewhere like the Chinese authori is probably not going to want her to uh take that around with her oh no actually no she brought it to New York actually no she brought she is actually has brought it to New York she showed it to the Crowd Oh no was that no actually that might have been jovic I think jovic is the one who's brought his medal great r at the forehand to forehand between these two has Jan gone long she has is another set point for man an Sova 3050 3040 can an take advantage of these set point she's only been having set points on her serf she wants to get this done so there's as little drama as possible fourth set point for Anand Anova first set in from Jen great return for anov now they try again oh that's the rocket from Anova on the forand at the line and there we go an breaks she had a double break J Pega back it looked like the set was gonna be competitive and then Amanda goes on the attack and is attacking attack Sova who goes up 64 in this in this match Jen in trouble one of my power rankings in trouble by the way I will say there's a reason I do want mentions is because I do want to make sure that I cover the eventual Champion somewhere if I get it wrong uh my other honorable mentions being I think Spina was on there she's in trouble um Emma Navaro Lea Fernandez Dian Schneider donovic who has just got the first set against Kimberly Barrel 64 apologies if I have broken people's ears again uh I have habit of doing that Di and have Marathon game in court six that looks like a fun match and again Marathon game potentially to finish first set between parry and Wong what else is happening around the grounds by the way feel free to throw questions by way and more than happy to come back to you on uh anything you guys want to talk about hug Gren has just won the first against Mitchell Krueger it's kind of going with serve in all the other matches Mona's up against um in the second set so that could be uh that could be uh split sets on that one waiting to see what the next one is so yeah if you are umly thanks for sticking with us hopefully you're enjoying the coverage on the channel um describing everything to do with this Jun chin when Amanda over match um looks like this Jerry Shang and Alexander public match is super fun as well but that seems to be what we're talking about so if you guys can I'm enjoying seeing the updates that um ghosty and Dave and brazy are giving me uh from that match and I'm more than happy to keep you up to speed with what's happening in this anisimova Jing match I know what you mean Dave I don't understand why no actually know what you mean like I know you want a fist pop with your dominant hand but I never like I never change my racket for my like my ra my racket never leaps my right hand I very much treat it as an extension of my arm now obviously I'm not a tennis player I do understand that you get calluses and blisters on your fingers when playing um and you do need to give your hand a Break um especially when playing at that level I don't play at that level um I believe my um world tennis number is 34 so that gives you an idea of the level U that I play at um uh but yeah my so I always fist pump with my left because uh yeah it makes sense to me no I I think we do need to ghosty don't don't worry about talking ATP like I agree with you atlam we need to keep across both we need to keep across everything um because obviously we need to see what's happening across um everywhere um so men men's or women's so yeah that is one of the matches to watch there's a lot of good matches out there as I said um because it looks like we've got um real epics going on between wongu and parry and dianaa let's see what's going on so okay so uh Wong did hold to it five all in that first set between parry and Wong um still du between the emman St I don't know if they PA or something SPI has got break points and she's just broken to lead the second set she's digging herself out of trouble time price of digging herself out of trouble here as we're at love 30 on the an overa serving this Opening Service games Jung's just netted and Veet just a set in the breakup she broken the opening game of the second set I mean I don't care what my level looks like Dave I only care what it is I don't see how it helps interesting um that uh Publix's Entourage has been told to calm down According To Bra maybe the kazak lad should be uh stirring up um trouble Elena rea's matches for her raak obviously opening obviously uh getting her campaign underway to tomorrow I think she's first on Grand standand first second man over out wide goes for the attack on the forehand that is a winner clean winner playing with the line a little bit but still well inside and it's 4030 so for love 30 to 4030 good few sequence of points from Anova here great serve from Anis Sova oh J somehow find the cor with the lob return but over hits the for hand and it's game anisim over and she's going to be happy with that right let's have a look and see we've got going on around so again women's matches donovic is set to consolidate her early break in the second against Burl go set to love up cakenis um still set a break up against Christian and Dera is trying to consolidate a early break against Yuan um make it s break Advantage F trying to consolidate the gate the break against KL um NE has so y actually held that insanely long game she had against NE so ne's now coming out to Ser for the first set is 5'4 but I'm wondering the Str is going to take some Solace from uh get get a bit of a boost from holding that long service game we'll have to see what happens on court six and then Wong serving again to stay in the first set against Dean Parry at 56 on the men's side still going with Ser in the second set between s Mara and again between bu and Shang although Shang looks like he's getting into this public service game Montero is three love up in the second un be up in the first Bautista good got the first 75 against Luca Nardi they're just siging the second Yan kinsky is one to down second um on surf uh and set down to Roberto cab Baya uh and Dominic Stricker sent the break up against kamana and Ben Shelton and Dominic team should be getting underway in the next few minutes um I mean I feel like the day drinkers in the stands that pretty much any tennis match atlam definitely the US Open and uh definitely um at Wimbledon as well okay well that's uh that's interesting um oh huge Ace from Z to move to 40 love um ghosty interesting stats from veic uh 54 said I'm not surprised Burl probably doesn't have the power to punish her on return uh when she's she's getting second serves if she's getting second serves um and Dave I have to say that you ghosty just mentioned Danielle as Jen love and it does feel like she's working this match back in her favor um for me no when you're uh blowing smoke off a gun it's cooler to blow the Smoke Off the tennis racket Danielle Collins Style she did that French I think it was 2020 she did that that was such a cool moment I know I'm not super popular um in the eag fandom for liking Danielle Collins as well but hey you like who you like and I like I think she's a really nice genuine per I think she's a genuine person um and does I think she's her Antics on court are fun rather than mean-spirited great backand return winner from Anova but since Danielle's retiring we don't need to worry about that for too much longer uh by the way if you are joining and you're wondering what's going on like we do have a breaking news that Maria sakur is out of the US Open she retired after losing the first set to one fun uh great backand oh great backand crosscourt winner off the short ball from J and an really had to get around really low to pick it up and when you're doing that on the Move that's really difficult it's a great shot from Amanda there interestingly uh some crush and Rush T some uh crush and Rush tactics um from bu being on display gets Jerry shine back inside out from ANA on the attack again an showing why she's got com to the backand it's an inside out backhand winner almost in the corner and it's 40 love and we have our first tie break of the US Open People it's happening between Dean parry and wongu thank you for the update ghosty best First Strike player in recent times that's a good question brazy uh I mean when first strike you have got some really good options there but yeah David saying sabalenka I find that one hard to argue with as Jen Nets and Anderson over hold for 2-1 in this set um yeah on the women's game I I am going to go with sabalenka although having said that on Clay eager um but yeah I can't think of anyone else I can think of where they they consistently when they get the first strike in and getting the ball I an's rivaling it right now to be honest and then in terms of the men's game First Strike uh probably May I'm trying to think about who there is probably the American players um but I think probably consistently he's got to be C right now oh bartini says Dave yeah that's a good shout yeah I do think I agree with you ghosty rodic has too few Slams on his record like it does seem bit silly that some of his talent only won the one is there a bigger gap between e sapalo on a clay or a hard court um well there's a problem with that in that you're assuming that all clay courts and hard courts are the same cuz we know Madrid's very different and they and on Madrid that they're just so the two of them are basically the same level at Madrid um because like eager won loads of hardcore matches against sabalenka of varying speeds so I guess given that savalen gets Advantage when the court is super fast maybe the and Eagle got right in yeah maybe the Gap is bigger on Clay like proper clay r or um rore Paris clay there's a there's a significant gap between Arena young serving by the way at 15 love gets an ace there 30 love um oh Mar has got a break verev in the second set 4-2 verev not having an easy start and Shelton and team has got started Shelton serving first is only the opening game uh what else is happening uh C ke is about to serve for the match 6254 we've got 40 love here for jenan Sova sh misses the first serve try and close this out yeah Y is really by the way Yer has got this Nei service game to G which is critical as Nei serving for the first set and we've got a Ty this it's 41 42 to Parry in the tie break between her and wongu oh ghost's now updating us on um Parry um oh bu's up thank you brazy so that one could be split sets that's going to be competitive Ace from Jen she holds to all on the Draper racket thing I think um as a player um look he says he was look I think Draper was looking at the ball but then I've also played where I've never been entirely sure about a double bounce when I've hit it like I'm just in the moment of trying to hit it and then after I have gone or was that okay and I do need that third party to tell me absolutely sure so I could see a scenario where you could lose count of a ball bounce or be not sure if he quite got the racket underneath it I could see a scenario where Draper [Music] um where Draper didn't know but he wasn't short andam Anderson over touched the net concedes the point do Jung chin when 15 love 30 even yeah she was trying to run down a drop shot from Jen um and ran into the net you can see there like she's she like the ball dropped sooner than she was expecting she tried to reach over the net but her foot walks into it and yeah concedes a point that she otherwise would have won un retainable serve though for man for 50 1530 yeah in recreational tennis you are but like I genuinely can't tell sometimes in the heat at the moment um but I do when I can unable Ser again F 30 all set points for Dean Perry nei's got the first set against Dana 64 she does close it out in the end and Dean Parry seals the first tie breaker of the US Open seven points to two against wongu double breaks for CA in the second set with Carl I wonder if cinaa will complete the turnaround there I would expect her to match points for Daria kakina the first match point of this US Open can we get our first completed match result we've got break point for Jang chin when as well 3040 Great Ser from anov but j's got in play and an's over hit the forehand Jang breaks in the second set for 3-2 and she is now up in this match and it has to be said I think the momentum is with the Chinese player at this moment in time in the match Junction when is up 3-2 having lost the first set 64 Christian save the first match point with kasak Keen I'm going to keep another score there oh oh I really wish I was watching this Dean Parry performance I mean I say that I think that this is the match i' I'd rather watch because I think this is turning into a really good match but yeah seeing Dean Parry hit like painting light without forehand I'm G have to go and find some highlights and they're just showing replays at the moment that Anisa just put her foot in the net and ultimately potentially cosing her that game um because we'd be looking at 4030 then and not a break kazak gets it 6264 she is the first player to complete a match this US Open um and she is through against shn Christian and proves me wrong about her early exit so kasaka Marches On into the next round um so just to be clear we've got two players through already one yon who is benefited from sary's retirement and Daria kakina um we're not anywhere near result on the men's side although I do believe it's now a set all between Shang and buck um in a match that's going pretty quickly strier looks like he's having to restore the break advantage against commas on the other side and far is broken back against Mara so that break advantage in the second set did not last very long for Maxine marer we're up to dates yes bra a kakina is through I mean yes Dave you it's probably a better description for yeah she did kind of step on the net and that's kind of the most egregious thing I've ever seen I don't think I've even seen an amateur player do that to be honest she just got completely caught out with where the ball was going it was shorter than she expected 50 love in this service game from Jin he's got a second serve coming up oh backhand up the back hand up the line winner from an on the return 15 or that return is not quite gone away from Anova still a big threat in this match Sean are you talking about on like amate tennis if you're calling your own lines um saying if it's close it's out cu I was I was taught to go if it's close it's in oh huge back hand up the line from Jang but she's missed it she kind of spins around afterwards a little bit of frustration uh 1530 now so Jen might have some trouble consolidating this break uh I have never played on claya there's actually not that many clay CTS in the UK I think I know some in Birmingham there might be some in Nottingham uh but they're really they're at like the places where they play the tournaments so they're going to be expensive to play on um I know there's some down south um that might be want to run London but yeah I have never played on Clay I would love to play though i' would love to give it a go yeah I agree with you ghosty it's more fun and it avoids arguments if you just say close is in and I agree with you Dave as well like you know I've definitely put my hand up and C when I called the ball out realized I was wrong and I said no I was wrong your point tennis is only fun if you're Sportsman like jeang Aces by the way closes out five for 42 I'm not sure if uh if sha was joking and I'm sorry if I'm taking you seriously but like you know I'm not saying you're wrong if that is how you do it um as long as the other guys's okay with it oh no okay J's not closed the point out it was l so 4030 still he watching the chat not the match why is it that um I always watch the chat when nand's not here um yeah I know you're a nice guy Sean uh first service out from Jen on this replayed Point backhand attack it for asov but she puts it in the net now Jang is held for 4-2 uh let's have a look around what's going on whilst we wait between these games and Eric Andre s to break up against youan way veage might be in trouble of getting broken she's got something to break against Burl falina serving for the second set against Carla 52 second set started between neyar and Justa Wong has served out her opening game against Parry in the second set then what about the men's side um for all juice between Mar and spev Shang bu's underway in the third H's broken back against Montero so that one's that second set still going between them it's a set to break Advantage for Roberto Batista good against Luca Nardi going with serve between kab B and chinsky in the second as Alan Nets a backhand Cross Court love 15 she's now struggling to hold serve although she's definitely been struggling to hold serve for most of the match it's just that she got she she was handling her very early service games a lot better it's go with surf between Shelton and Team by the way as well not many breaks to report at the minute oh very short ball from uh Jen um and and misses the crosscourt backhand trying to pick it off love 30 barl has broken back it's three all with veic on court 12 so barl suddenly got himself back in this match great first serve from Alis MOA oh the return from Junction went was just inside the Baseline but Al picks off the back hand Cross Court winner um uh Jane um I mean I know that you are uh paying more attention to I mean I was going to ask you how Stricker is looking but clearly aspects of him are looking good to you but how's his tennis looking like how's that match going is it an interesting match um interesting rally going on between J um and over backhand to forehand trading forehand now and an's gone long didn't do enough with the short ball that she got from Shen it's 1540 Shang has got points for a double break as Anderson did in the first Set uh also Dave your question about the Brit who is playing uh the Brit who's playing K Bayer Yan yany Daman could tell you more about him I believe he was playing under the German flag but now he's switched the British in the last couple of years um Regular on the Challenger circuit um has played Wimbledon a couple of times winner from over there by the way to say the first break point 3040 um yeah i' never actually seen him play which is the problem but tall guy I think um yeah Damian's probably your best bet to ask him about was long trying to defend a second break point short second T goes on the attack with the return back hand over short forand into the net missed that breakpoint chance de okay you're just here to uh check scores Jane um were you here for the last score round up if not I can give you him we'll see if uh I'll probably give him after this game anyway oh Schwan is saying that spit is having a medical timeout thank you for the update there schwana which is interesting because she's 52 up in the second she's about to surf for the second set so there must genuinely be an issue there or maybe she's trying to kill any momentum car might have huge huge forhead return from Jean chin Wen winner advantage to Chin Wen who yeah that was that was wonderful the kind of return anovo there she kind of CAU it with the corner of her racket what a shot from jeanin Wen 4and and then we're trading for up the line with a forand that's a winner wonderful tennis on display from both what a corker to open this account it has to be said that the shots these two are producing absolutely brilliant it's a shame that uh the people you're in uh that's actually quite funny Dave um yeah it's a shame we need to get your um your charges interested in tennis chain Advantage Anis Sova forcing an error from junin when veic has reinstated a break Advantage 6443 so James stick with us for the next couple of minutes and I will give you a scores round up after this point or after this game I would say after this game because this still could be an epic we've got a second serve coming up for Alis Sova second serve on the attack great return from Jin from Jan chin Wen backand winner uh yeah I'm just looking around seeing what else is going on arre has lost her break against uan and Carl's got the first two points of this F service game so there must be something up with falina on court five first Ser delivery from um Al is good then follows up for hand into the net another break point for Jan chin W Al looking very fed up that she's in this situation it does feel like a critical game she can get through this she still feel very much in this set if she gets broken she's very much in danger of not just having the set but potentially the match running away from her six minute game why these players need to uh get the job done because they're preventing me from giving Jane the update on the scores second serve for amand andova break point down Aon 23 on the clock forehand on the attack from is into the net so we're back to juice I will give you a couple cou of results Jane uh because we have two results Daria kakina W 6264 she's the first person to complete a match uh today the first person to the second round is Wong yon who took advantage of the fact that sakur retired after losing the first set 62 great backhand winner Cross Court from man an over for advant to get her to Advantage so yeah the big story so far is that Maria zakary is out due to retirement was a good thing most of her points aren't from slams anyway first Ser from an SM is in now she's fin with a back hand up the line Jung's going to struggle with that she dumps it into the net what an escape from Ananda Sova she holds for four to get to stay at three four and only the one break and she's making this match still competitive hello miles you're just in time for me to now round up the scores so from as I said Maria sakar is out lot retired against won Dar kakina is through in straight sets um we've got 64 43 Donna veic but she might be about to get broken back again by Killy Burl Erica Andrea 63 34 against one UA um elen Selina has managed to um get this game to juice she is serving at 3652 against Maria car trying to get this to a deciding set Jula Nar is leading six 6412 against Dian STA and Dean Parry is leading 7612 against Wong XU that's all the women's for you lots of competitive second sets going on here not just in the women's but also in the men's men's singles so far um let's go um from bottom to top so uh Ben Shelton is three all with Dominic team they're going with servant arur Ash um k s has just got the second set against Dominick Stricker so it's set all between those two um hug gr is 64 up but one4 down in the seconds to Mitchell Krueger Roberto B kab Bay is going to be serving for six um is serving at 6253 so serving to make it two sets love against Yan hinski uh barut is leading 7542 but Luca Nardi does have break back points um ugan has come from a breakdown of the second and now is going to is leading 6354 so he's going to be serving for a two sets love lead um Jerry Shang and Alexander bub are into a third Shang is leading 21 um in on serve in the third Shang won the first at 6'4 buic won the second at 63 it's a very competitive match on court 11 and on grand stand Alexander Zar won the first set 6-2 against Maxim Mara was a breakdown in the second but clawed it back and know's now serving to stay in the second set at 56 you are now up to date with all the school scores so if that's what you were hoping for great um hope that was helpful for you and I'll keep you up to dat with any other score updates if needed um don't worry about following the chat schner it's fine um you know just let us know if there's anything to do with a match that we would need to know about no one's watching this vitalina match right now so would appreciate updates is she looking like serving this out um how many matches are you watching by the way scha actually I wish I could watch more than one but unfortunately my TV subscription does not allow me to do that it's not like Wimbledon where I could literally watch every single match if had 20 screens if I wanted sadly um I would need to pay a lot of money to let me do that for this one oh yeah Casper Roode vers is probably underway now against uh be CH so maybe I need to refresh uh my scores so I can see what's happening there because I haven't included that uh yeah 15 or by the way um doesn't look like it's an easy service game for Jun chin went so far great return oh huge return for because of the Net post and bounces on her side side and it's uh 15 all oh and I've lost my scores that's annoying still plenty of great matches to come by the way and by the way if you're interested John is covering the uh Shelton team match on another stream but please stick with me because and keep me company if you so wish it's four games all between fic and barel barl has once again broken back in the second set and suddenly this second set between those two players has become a breakfest back had wewood from J chin when into the tra line 30 all Anova looking to pull off the comeback wongu has broken in the second set against Dean Parry it's 3-1 there Wong is a set down of course in the men's uh side I'm just checking to see what's happening there is uko and bear got second set yet o chin when benefits from and over just missing that shot it's 4030 Yan hsk got break back Point against car Bay that's interesting F long from Jing went I'm not getting the rude match on my scores I don't know whether they've started or not not see it's been delayed maybe the players weren't ready oh huge return from for of the aror from Jang juice this set's not Jang doesn't have this set yet this is actually getting quite competitive oh brazy what makes you think that um Bon can um upset rude Young have bound on the ball toss bartini and Ramos Finas have just got underway on court seven literally the first game and bertin is going to serve to um sering 40 love ug Bears now Tak a two sets of Love lead against tho Montero ju second serve we've still waiting for for Jen to deliver a second serve me she know she's got to watch out for the return she's abandoning it and suddenly we've got some service Yips for Jang chin Wen now she serves up wide oh what an Ace from Jen high risk but it pull she pulls it off and it's Advantage to the Chinese player this is a really competitive match now it does feel like the match is of stabiliz it's going quite good I mean it was good anyway Carl has broken Spina he's got one of the breaks back 35 c f not feeling good out there first into the net from Shan chin Wen to a rally four hand from Jen up the line back hand cross that's a danger shot for her as she forces uh J to Loop it now she's bring j under a lot of pressure again slices that back hand puts it in the net and game J who is going to be now uh who is now going to be one game away from the second set at 53 scha saying that SPI is looking desperate is she looking desperate because she's injured trying to get the second set against Carl trying to play through pain just moving looking around and seeing what's happening H we're into a tie break between Mar and Zev in the second set on Grand standand and kab Bay is now two sets to love against kinsky the qualifier End of the Road might be coming for Yan kinsky I thought it would be a winable match for him but uh he's goingon to have to do it the hard way if he is Eric Andrea looks she's in a real battle there yeah sh saying she thinks f is playing with pain doesn't look good for a long-term Prospect and I think Coco goof might be happy to see that you even if does get to the third round she might be compromise oh Le cord for J who's trying to go for up the line winner that gives an M up in the point and enabl to put the point away uh Jen could not control that shot it's 15 love parry's got a break back against one as you that's good to see veic is now broken barl for the third time uh this set um bearing mind barel keeps breaking her back veage is now going to serve for the match at 6454 to be the third woman into the next round of the US Open and will serve from Anisa 30 love plenty going on across the board here huge forehand from Jing on the attack slice from an backhand cross cut from Jen is good that a great backhand winner from Jen and it's 3015 ghost update from ghosty apparently Buick has a double break opportunity coming up on on uh com up on 11 okay not for a double break but he has two break points 405 Anis MOA she's going to try and put some pressure on joh chin Wen and this is now giving me hope that this third set's going to be competitive that Jen isn't going to run away with this the momentum seems to have been stabilized because Jen did have quite a lot of it backhand Shen Under Pressure really short slic from drop shot from an Jen's got to pick it up off the line way too exposed from Anova it's and it's 4030 didn't handle that short ball well from Jen still going with s between Shelton and team yep no Dave yep absolutely this keeping an eye on the scores in the far of tie Break um Amanda peppering Jen at the minute and gets the game with some heavy for hands and is uh and now J got to Surf this out at 54 um lots of drama but buic breaks Jerry Shang for a break lead in the third set those of you who are watching bu Shang do you think that one's going to go five say if bu gets the third set is Shang going to then get the fourth and make it an epic uh ghosty asking me about Erica Anda um am I surprised uh a little bit I mean when I checked the live rankings and saw she Broken Top 100 recently I probably shouldn't have been but she's been very under the radar recently and then that Collins win impressed me and I wasn't sure how she was going to do in this opener against rway like that one could have gone either the way but yeah you know pleased for her but little surprised it does feel like it's coming a little bit out of nowhere but least like breaking through the biggest stage a little bit out of nowhere they've agreeing with me the Public's going five we've got match points for donovic 6454 40 love and she's got the job done 6464 against Kimberly Burl so Donna veic is the Third Woman through to the US Open second round following Wong and Daria cassina spi's got the second set as well she's broken Maria car 53 so we're ready to a decider can spiy last this match can she last out this deciding set physically we know she's struggling lots of really good matches going on at the minute like you are we are spoiled for choice and I I really wish I really really wish um I had like a wall with a load of screens on it I could see everything that was happening obviously you want to pay attention to one match on a big screen um but it would give me a sense of where all the drama was I don't know if you're being sarcastic ghost you whether you're actually watching but donovic is an emotional player so it wouldn't surprise me backhand in play for man M second serve backhand loped up as Jong goes long love 15 Anova looking to break back here J's trying to surf the set out SW saying that fi played really aggressively to close out the second set um yeah uh uh yeah I'm not surprised especially if injured playing more aggressively would make sense try and keep points short as an over net again running down a short ball from from Jen she's she's hitting a lot of unforced arrows off short balls she needs to be playing those it's not really uh it's not really paying off for her um Pam effect for J V yeah she's had Pam as a coach for a while I did interview Pam last year um after Wimbledon um and that partnership when that part was taking off but sort of in the year between Wimbledon veic seemed to have gone off the radar a bit so yeah I'm glad that she's feeling confident and happy again because yeah she's doing well um obviously that wimbl thei final Olympic final this has now turned into a great season for for donovic she is three 315 two Jin went two points away from evening this out into a deciding set she's missed the first serve and it's an unable second serve from Jean chin Wen to get to 4015 so two set points for Jong chin Wen to get us to a third set of what's been quite a competitive match um filled with some stunning hitting from both great serve from Jun chin Wen oh no she's just missed it never mind yeah I know what you mean like I Dave you are definitely very annoyed by sort of the the the unusual service toss from Shin just it's just so wide she's missed the first Ser obviously it was L previously no either way doesn't count we wish you find more egregious Dave the hitch in the Jen TOS or the hitch in the Rebeca a toss oh Jen's abandoning The Ball Toss on the second serve little bit of nerves creeping in great second serve back hand from Jen oh the return from Anis Sova was on the Baseline and Jang had no hope there 4030 first set points saved by amand D Sova oh update from brazy rude is already a breakdown in the first set and it's lendable surf of jeanin when you may not like the hitch in it but it's very effective when she needs it to be she gets the job done we're Going the Distance on Louis Armstrong Arena second set six4 to Jong Chun wi and Anders got first by the same score line it is this close and Jen is now going off Court she's got her bag she's going off Court she's talking about with the Umpire she's taking off fluids I can't tell if Alison m is going off court or not Jen definely is so if anyone says they don't know much about a player chances are they are um grinding out on challenges Amanda is staying on court so she's not going off but Jen is yeah and over just doesn't need to lock it down da but I I think I'm seeing tennis from her this towards the end of this set that was giving me hope I wasn't feeling confident about it sort of early in the second set when she got broken uh right let's do a scores update so Eric Andrea is surfing at 56 in the second having won the first 63 against oneway um trying to get second set to a tie break l f has won her Opening Service in the deciding set against Maria Carl um Daniel St has got three break points against julle neem to take a break advantage in the second set which would put 53 and potential to level the match at a set all Nei got the first set 6'4 uh it's four games all between Dean parry and Wu and what is a very competitive match despite the score line um that's all the women's matches in the men's I've lost track of the Zev tie break Mara got it 75 or a set all between Mar and Zev once again Sev continue to leak set it is going with serve at two games all between R Finas and mat bertini and Dominic team is serving at duu 45 against Ben Shelton you can hear about that on another stream Ben Shelton actually has a set point uh bu is at 4 43430 in the third a set all bbear is has actually got points for a double breaker for by two sets to lead by two sets two breaks against Tio Montero it's five games all in the second with lard and Roberto Batista good batist get set up Amanda Anova is receiving a magical Timeout on her foot by the way um might be some kind of blister we know she she she was dealing with I think she had a blister problem in uh Toronto against Navaro um it did Hamp her a little bit in the second set before she got back together and won the match Kruger against Grenier set all and strier Kamas is going with serve in the third strier leading and that match is a set all you are now up to date and of course Buu is um up break against Casper Roode yeah I was gonna say buo is is Chinese um hello Hedgehog lovely to see you so what's happened to sakur um so sakur uh was um uh Zachary retired um I don't know what the issue was no one was watching that match if anyone does know why zakary retired um can you let us know because that would be sort of great information um if someone could check Twitter real quick that'd be great but yeah zakary retired after losing the first set 6'2 uh meanwhile let's have a look and see what else is going on so Y is serving for the second set but she's at 1530 she's got to fight her way through Parry is serving say in the second set in her match against Wong that's wongu of course yeah um Anova is getting her foot strapped up I don't think it's blisters I think there some kind of strapp going it could be blisters I'm not sure uh but she's definitely getting it very strapped Ben Shelton's taken the first against Dominic team six games to four kabas bay is now a set in a break two sets in the break up against Yan kinsky mono seems to going double break down there third his third set against ug be yeah it's not looking good for the um kinsky who did qualify in an epic way uh but looks like he's not going to survive into the next round obviously we've still yet to get our first men's result uh first men's singles winner um it's currently a race between uh ug be and uh Roberto cabz Baya to see who can get the job done quickest um very similar scores two sets 2 one with a Break um X is coming back on court but obviously Anis sova's medical timeout isn't done yet either so it doesn't matter too much with this toilet break they're both taking oh yeah they're both taking uh as much time as they need really no rush no gamesmanship here they both needed to do what they needed to do bra is saying that Shang is taking a medical timeout obviously we haven't had an update from that match for a while so appreciate that brazy thank you ghosty telling us it's a right shoulder injury for Maria sakar so thanks for the update there someone's getting a um someone's getting a timeout anyway um in that match ghost you ask about the temperatures in New York uh I don't know uh it's one of those things they don't put on court in full view sadly excuse me for Ying there guys sorry about that yeah looking around uh we're not quite there yet in terms of um any further updates we're into a second set tie break between Eric and d one that's worth keeping on D having a little bit trouble serving at the second set against jul Nei Dean parry and Wong and Wong XU xiu Wong xiu um that looks like being another really close set but yeah I think Erica and d 83 Fahrenheit in New York there you go what is going on um all right junin went first point on the board left 15 but the next return is long so it's 15 all should to see how competitive this match is going to be I just want to see what 83 Fahrenheit is got 400 return from Jung now under pressure from 400 Sova who then attacks again but she's missed it over the Baseline 1530 that's hot in New York 28 degrees Celsius got up to that about a couple times in the UK early this month but we don't didn't quite have the humidity that New York does which does feel somewhat painful 52% 1530 long from Alison M on that serve not ideal for her oh I've lost my stream sorry guys I've lost my stream two seconds I need to fix it technical difficulties please stand by um what's I mean shouldn't be too took me too long to fix it we'll back up and running in a minute there we go I've got it back and it looks like that Jan chin Wen has broken already she has broken to 15 it is one game to love yeah I don't know why what's going on with the sock thing there Dave uh not something I have much I would imagine you would have more expertise on that than I would oh okay um nei's broken back um as you trying to go serving out trying to Ser out the second set so still got stay in the set but still 4 five fitting a holding off Maria Carl still on court five are we any closer to a results uh not on the men's singles not yet not yet Erica Andrea might be the fourth player about to go through as junin when um has got the opening point in her service game 15 love it does feel like she has the slight momentum here does seem to have figured out an over over's Rocket returns are just not happening the same way anymore but chunks got a second serve to give her five all now that on quate between Andre and Yan back count long on the return no it was right on the Baseline and then Andre's pushing um Jung back now she's still trying to put Jung Under Pressure great slice from Jung to keep herself in the point the counter slice from ends up in the net and asov drops her Racket and twists her wrist she's feeling pain in her hand she shakes it off maybe she didn't make contact right she seemed to be stretching her hand a bit after the contact yeah really went for the backand oh and then yeah so big backand waves the right hand again slices and then is not feeling good and S is in pain right now her hand or her wrist is not in a good place looks like Jerry Shang needs some physio work as well obviously an over did have a medical time for the foot 30 love is an struggling physically with the demands of playing Jean chin Wen huge backhand winner from her suggests not 3015 we are six points all between Andrea and Yuan this is going to be a dramatic end on court 8 I'm not sure who whether who had set point or match point I wasn't watching that was either a match point saved or a set point saved I'm going to keep an eye on the C8 score and the Jung chin wi match unable Sur from Jung 405 she does feel like she's she's starting to really assert herself in this match five seven to the net still under a little bit of pressure to deliver on the first service is the Chinese player second Ser is Good from Jung it's too tricky for an to pick up it was well out wide and it's game Jun chin Wen two games to love lead in the second in this deciding set U1 way has 76 lead in the tie break she has set point against Andrea to take it to a decider drama everywhere at the minute f is trying to carve a break advantage in the deciding set as well and draa saves set point Erica that is not mirror seven all in that tie break Andre serving now so it was obviously saving on her serve backand into the net from Anis over on the attack L 15 first deliver is Good from then Falls up with a bullet forand J is doing best to get back back in court and comes in to slice the forand leaves the Gap open for Jung to pass up the line there with the forehand love 30 match point for Eric Andrea 87 but it's on the oneway serve oh that was not a nice unfortunately from and from Anis mova who's just missed it second serve at love 30 short second sh runs around to hit the forand return now she's teeing up another forand to the forand of over just cleared the net and Junction when misdirects the forehand into the tram line and it's 1530 haven't seen an over flexing a hand since that incident I to see you ghost you hope everything's okay back hand from an back hand up the line oh again from alova under pressure from Deep backhand from Jung who's got 1540 for two break points to establish a double break advantage in this deciding set what can Anna SM do she's avoided the double break a lot in that last set first Ser is long update from schw Erica Andrea has won nine points to seven in that tie break thank you schner so Erica and draa is through to the second round of the US Open she's the fourth player to win a match today forand long at the line for Anisa and there we go it's a double break for Jean chin when free love so yeah so players through to the next round Wong yon um Daria kasak Donna veic and Erica and D not miror she's playing tomorrow great result there for Eric Andrea continuing her great her very impressive form as of late what else is going on it's 30 Old between parry and Wong at 56 Parry serving Wong potentially two points away from leveling that that match jul nar's got break points at five all uh to potentially try and set the match out it's two games over between stian and Carl San cannot break in this deciding set what about in the men's game rude has broken back against Buu and is now leading 3-2 on serf Shelton is leaving a set in the break do team by set the break it's going with serve early in the third between Mar and S for one set all Shang has got it back is trying to get it back on serve bu is serving at 54 and Shang has got break back points and bear still serving at two sets and a break hoinsky is broken back against K Baya so that match is still going on Court 16 we're into a second set tie break between nard and Bautista regut Bautista Le by set to love Dominic Stricker is up a break in the third against K it's one set all there it's one set all between Grenier and Krueger meanwhile on court 12 Alex airin has got his US Open campaign underway it's one game more between him and sunu Kuan now J on 12 for the last 15 points she's definitely taken control of this match first s into the net to start off with hopefully I'm keeping you guys updated um just let me know anything from your matches if you want to keep me update with anything or um I'll keep us up toate with anything um if there's any questions you want me to answer more than happy to do that uh but yeah looks like Jerry Shang despite having the physio out um is still trying to extend this although it looks like bu's now got set point for a two sets to one lead oh what's happened to Dominic team is Dominic team retired again oh no he's he's starting to break down but uh first s j is too good and uh love 15 oh love 30 sorry it's a double fault this is me not paying attention I'm paying attention to the chat the scores love 30 and was trying to get one of these breaks back is Dominic team struggling against Ben Shelton John is watching it on the other stream what brand of Racket do I use I use a prince racket I've had that racket since I was 17 um I don't see the need to change it I don't know what I'd change it to to be honest but I know Prince is no more another abon Ball Toss from John chin Wen feeling a little bit of pressure oh looks like Zev has broken in the third oh great return again from Mana Sova shun can't do anything about it love 40 so one of these breaks break back is possible for Amanda it would be one break but it would make this um third set semi-competitive and throw a little bit of Doubt as to the outcome of this match forand cross cour from Jen to the forand of Anis MOA Jen tries to redirect puts it in the tram line that cord and Anis breaks to love it's 3-1 we also have um a second set tie break between parry and Wong Parry won the first set on the tie break let's see how competitive that is and julle Ne is serving at 65 for the match against Dian strer to upset the number 32 seed although maybe not an upset given H NE did get to the US Open fourth round a couple of years ago and took a set off EOS fantech what kind of person is a Dunlop kind of guy brazy first into the forand into the net van Sova love 15 she needs to make the most of this momentum um I mean it was helpful that the guy who was coaching me when I was sort of 15 to 19 uh he was kind of a prince specialist a prince rep so he got me some nice discounts on Prince rackets but yeah no it's fair yeah Dunlop is a popular British brand um although you do see people using a lot of head rackets um partly because of Andy maray and Wilson as well Wilson's quite popular over here ins that forand return is well out from Jen 15 or um yeah I don't know what is I think I I think the the racket I've got I like because I've only had it rest strong once actually I should probably do it again but like uh I tend to use uh but like I need something to kind of a racket more built for control than power because I produce a lot of natural power anyway tend to have a very fast swing so um I need my racket to kind of compensate for that because I can't really change how I'm instinctively swinging 315 back hand up great back hand return from J Anova somehow gets to it Great Rally again back forand off the top of the net from Anis Sova but still deep Great Rally for the Oh What a Beautiful angle fromand Sova what a rally that should be a highlight re both are really going for it what a redirect an over to get to 4015 I mean the you Dave I keep testing the strings and it still feels all right I just don't play that often like there's still like I've tested it out it still feels all right maybe I need to get someone else to play with it and then tell me how it feels short second from goes for the backhand crosscourt backand fromen redirected wide but I think andison moa's back head was over the Baseline according to electronic line calling and J's shot was right on the line anyway so doesn't matter either way she's got the point 4030 first serve into the net for Sova still under pressure for the comeback oh forand cross forand Shen forand Cross Court to crosscourt into the net from Jen that's enough an over to hold and she's got a big smile on her face after that's her first hold for a while it's 2 three she's only she's reduced the deficit to one break Dave what happens if I play twice a week for a month then take two weeks off then play once a week for a month take a month off and then yeah you get the point like I'm probably not going to be like I'm playing I'm probably going to play until October and then I'm not going to play for the entire winter because there's nowhere indoors all that has flood lights apart from like one location where you can play around here during the winter hi Jake always good to see you are you coming off a night shift Cedric which um are you talking about Nick cuos or are you talking about someone else let's see what's happening so neemi did not serve that match out and they're into a second set tie break with Dan she's in second with Danka F has the break against Maria Carl 42 405 so she might escape the Trap it's four points all between parry and Wong in the second set tie break that they're doing so we might get some results coming thick and fast um I'll quickly check the men's singles on this change EV ends um it's three games all between rude and bu but um I think rude's gonna Hal to love here bartini also going four all s leading 41 in the second in the third one set all as I said set and a break Advantage for Ben Shelton against Dominic team it's Shang did break back five games all with B but B looks like he got break point again and be taking a while to finish this match off with Thiago Montera it's four games all between kski and Cab in the third set cab b a lead two sets love Batista Goods just taken a two sets love lead against LCA Nardi thanks to a tiebreak win there um kamasan has got it back on serf in the third one set all with Dominic Stricker and it's going with Ser between Pap and Quan and in the opening set and graner and Krueger also going with Ser in this third set well out of court from Anis over there um thank you so much luky I don't think I am the best host but appreciate it uh well we'll try and keep you updated as much as uh Jake is um oh right sorry Cedric I get you now hello yeah um tough yeah brazy like how's Casper looking is he looking a bit more confident now after Buu kind of shocked him early on 30 love for Jang in this service game by the way San is one game away from the match against Carla after a bit of a scare it has to be said after going a set down and having a medical timeout we trying to serve at the second set sort of close opener got to two allall V hoping to finish off but Carl will be serving at 25 overhead from Jen forehand redirected but right into strike zone forand now forand inside out from um Mo who then tries to redirect but Jung's ball is long I believe yes it was it did look long so 3015 Anova still making this good 10 shot rally still some competitiveness in there we have match point for Dean Parry she's she's going to be serving at 76 six0 six points to five in the tie break Dean Parry in what I I didn't expect it to come through but she does 76 76 against wongu I thought Wu was looking pretty good going to this but Parry had other ideas and showing that she's still dangerous in Grand Slams wonderful player Parry I'm glad I get another option to watch her go Dean Parry the fifth player to make it through winner from junin went on the forand for 4015 and Dian EST has four set points to level up with julle Nei who did serve for the match at 65 I think your strength also did serve for the set earlier on at 53 or something like that yeah it was 53 so that match has been quite dramatic Ace from Jen to close out the game 4-2 in this deciding set with Amanda anisimova yeah okay so Caspar is looking settled thanks prra uh yes F had a medical timeout um thanks TR yes your has taken it to set all um yes so Jake um medical timeout for fitina um I think it was her shoulder oh then that was sakur sakur retired with a right shoulder injury um Nan what s have get the top 10 lose matches pretty much like that's how you lose the top 10 you lose matches and and consistently lose them as well uh but she's got some big points that are helping her out a little bit uh that sort of keeping her up there I think let's see if how consist she is up until Indian Wales 2025 oh tried to take on that short ball from Jen but just dumps it in the net love 15 but yes fiina medical timeout um can't remember what it was for uh but not ideal start for her campaign even if she is through or she was hoping to get through I don't think she's through yet she's not um Carl held for 35 so SP is now serving 53 to try and be the uh who who's gone through already um wongon uh Daria kakina [Music] uh yeah yeah dar dar kakina is also through um and then you've also got uh Dean parry and Erica Andra is through as well so yeah and donovic is through CS to be the sixth player to go through today Great Rally going on an over hits line moving from side to side eventually um getting that point it's 1530 so an again in trouble on serve and she has been struggling a little bit on and off on serve it's a good question no that actually where might need to break out break this down okay so uh bublick has got the third set thanks brazy so I know that bu got broken back by Shang so obviously bubl just um established himself back in the match there back head to the net from Jen a little bit limply from the um Alis it was a good rally though but I thought it AER that Jen could cope with we're at 30 all so sh well don't say you were wrong brazy because Shan could still break she can still get the fourth but um if he's struggling physically that might be a problem that being said bear is going to be serving for the match to be the first male player to win a match today against Thiago Montero four hand to four hand rally again now backand from Jean Cross Court back hand Sova crosscourt long 30 40 break point chance for Jong chin Wen 30 40 yeah I agree brazy is super talented I'm very excited to see what he does and hopefully he gets less injured less often as he gets older he is still 19 he's still developing it's not surprising he's getting injured at this point in his career 3040 J takes on the return now forand from the line X gets it still peppering side to side Shang Shanks it juice this feels very like the end of the the second set as well Anna s was fending off J as much as she could but she's really got to get more into J service games because she she was to start this match off when she raced to a 5-1 lead and it's been all junqin Wen since and an has just been fighting to keep up short return from jien backhand cross slic from Jen just clear to the net another slice from Jen up the at the line forand cross from Jen and the forand r over is well out Advantage again to Jen for another break point another break point let's see if Elena fiina is getting the job done that's the wrong day another Advantage for it as um spitin is broken serving for the match by Maria Carl she'll be serving at 45 so drama on court F fails to serve the out that c from Anova mid rally now she got forand into the net Jen breaks again restores the double break Advantage for 5-2 and she'll come out to serve for this match against amand Anis Sova switch that back into the men's um really close SE between and bartini by the way bar serving to try and take to a tie break Monte two points away from finishing his match off let's see what you guys in the chat are saying um I okay so both players are off Court thanks bra in the Shang public match which seems to be one of the matches to watch at the minute um uh I don't think they have a heat rule in New York City it's definitely not warm enough for one though like it given the temperatures we were just told about I think it has to be much hotter before um we get a heat roll Jen's being brought up special sort of bottle thing she's not drinking it yet U puts her bottle of water down spills it or the drama at this change of ends she might get nervous Dave it's a possibility stina now has three match points against Maria Carl love 40 on the K serve so uh we might have a result to bring you from Court five in about a minute or so Mona has break back Point against um who's trying to serve this match out it's been two and a half hours and we haven't had a men's singles result yet this is uh interesting it's usually I would expect to be like half an hour ago we start to get men of men singles result KL saves the first match point Who's going to close first fit or or Jen would be neither of them well first Jen is wide looks like Y Mar your St taking extended break ahead of their deciding set backhand Inside Out returned from anov on the attack now goes cross cut with the backand huge sh scrambling for it take takes the forehead out the air now does a drop shot which is too good love 15 great first point from Anna Sova another Match Point saved by Maria car on court five uh Lan Eric Andre underrated um yes and no i' say um second Ser coming out for Jun by the way first for net um yes I think she is talented and I think she is overshadows a b by her sister but no because her own results need to speak for themselves it's only recently that her results have kind of picked up to the point where they would be noticeable but she is back in top 100 she got that Danielle Collins win maybe people will take her a bit more seriously A Drop Shop attemp from Al's gone into the net So it's 15 all um looks like an feel the drop shot might be her best course of action just to mix things up late in the day but yeah I agree with you Dave Erica needs more results in bigger tournaments at the minute we're just not seeing those so yes she's overshadowed by her sister no I don't think her results are good enough to say that she's under underrated ala trying to go to on the forand with Jen got a great angle from Jen that she's produced Moon from alova and Jen hits the forhead Inside Out open court 315 she's two points away from the top from the win SPI has got the job done against Berea Carl she is through into the next round 36 63 64 little bit Rocky though fit maybe not on Solid Ground and Coco go fans might be breathing a side relief we'll have to see what happens if they do actually meet in the third round might be getting some matches wrapping up in quick succession we're into a first set tie break between bartini and B Rosas and CT seven s has set points for two sets to one lead and Ugo and be is the first man into the next round of the US Open he's beaten Thiago Montera 63 64 64 he's got the job done and caught 10 can junin Wen be the seventh seventh or eighth woman through she's got 4015 Match Point abandon to the Ball Toss she's been doing that quite a bit today first serve out wide is an ace it's all quite Ace but it's UNR returnable it hits the line Al Sova has no hope of getting it back even if she did get a racket on it and Jang chin Wen is through an gave her a bit of a scare at first but once she said little about Jang was impressive and an Amanda her she just couldn't sustain the Firepower that she was producing for that opening set junin Wen is through and the score is 46 64 62 not a classic but good quality matches and I've enjoyed a lot of the rallies like this was an example of what happens when you've got some big but stable ball striking and they're able to go toe-to-toe it was a very watchable match I enjoyed it I hope you all did too um is Jen serving more stable this days yeah I'd say so actually she's definitely a lot more confident definitely a lot more confident so yeah um junin went is through and keeps my keeps my pride and my power rankings still alive but still a tough battle with um still a tough battle going on and John is here John what are you doing you should be on the other stream I'm I'm on both streams I'm just coming to say just just click end stream whenever you oh I was going to do that I was about to tell people to go and join you on Shelton
