NFL Fantasy Cheat Sheet (August 15, 2024)

[Music] what's up everybody welcome to another edition of the fantasy cheat she the season finale of the fantasy cheat glad you could be here with us I am Marcus Grant alongside Michael F Florio and lacoin Jones and fellas it has been uh a fun summer doing this now we're going to be doing this for the next I don't know half hour or so of course you can jump in with your your questions and comments in the chat we'll try to get to them but Florio you uh you also have an eye on something else as we're doing this correct yeah the flex online super Flex draft which I won two of the last three years last year I lost to now current champion and fantasy rival of mine Frank stanel uh I lost to him last year but yeah I'm trying to Draft Matt Milano got ruled out pretty much for the year right before we came live it's it's been an emotional filed day for for your boy yeah I can imagine I um actually as you say this I uh oh thankfully I I made a pick I'm in the the slow draft the the flex League best ball slow draft um which this is the fastest slow draft I have ever been in in my life oh that's a blessing it is great I just I went just looked and so uh thankfully my pre-draft list was already set and so it made a pick for me uh but I had to set my my next ones for the the next go around but this has been a a blazing blazing fast draft um let's see all right so we got plenty of stuff to talk about our film festival today uh our final one of this season I made an audible uh audible call I I originally had said Blade Runner but I decided to to Pivot to office space uh something that's very 90s but kind of fun kind of lighthearted something that I think you know we would all sort of enjoy uh so we'll talk about that a little bit later on but did want to kind of talk with you guys about the fact that preseason week two does kick off tonight uh Eagles Patriots you can see that 7 PM Eastern on NFL Network and I was just curious about what it is you guys are looking for and lacoin this is a will Shipley question are we paying attention to him in the Eagles backfield and then anybody else that maybe you have your eye on in this game I me we we might get some gain will and ship like I I definitely feel like that's a nice combination of like fighting for that backup role behind saquon Barkley like Shipley was highly praised in the offseason so of course I want to see him get some action and honestly hopefully he could lock up that rb2 spot uh I mean are you down with the the Shipley action uh Florio yeah I mean that's probably the one thing we have to watch on the Eagles side of it right like we we know who the rb1 is we know who the top two wide receivers and all the like and and we know it's pretty straightforward when it comes to the Eagles offense on on the other side though I'm going to be watching these wide receivers and their usage very closely I hated hated that we had to wait four drives until the third string quarterback was in to see Javon Baker touch the field last week so I want to see how that kind of shakes out it looked like KJ Osborne was the wide receiver one because he was the only one they decided to hold out so I'm going to be watching that side of the ball very and especially with with Drake May being there like that that gives us something to watch yeah there's definitely a lot more I think to pay attention to on the Patriots side of things because there are so many jobs that are still up for grabs in that offense and we don't know the order of of whatever so I think that's definitely going to be something interesting to watch uh for sure for sure um a lot of questions in the chat makes sense right because everybody's kind of getting into it favorite running back for non-ppr not named Christian mcaffrey uh who do you guys like uh Kyon Williams I mean for me the answer is Derrick Henry oh I was GNA say I don't know if it really changes for me from Breeze Hall and bejon Robinson probably I mean not no I would say in a non PPR format it might favor Bree a little more than be that's what I was thinking um I mean he'll catch derck Henry though is a good one yeah I would think K's a close second behind Henry because Derrick just a non he's a non PPR running back to was eating on the ground he didn't really see that much targets I mean I think the Rams were dead last at running back targets last season anyway yeah the czecho yeah czecho is another at the ground at the ground you got a lower though like James Cook Rashad white those guys they all take a hit they take a big big hit yeah I mean so like here's nji Harris much better running back in non PPR formats than in in PPR formats for sure he's probably the face of it that's a great call really might be uh would you still rank CD at number two in PPR with him not practicing ask as I'm second pick and reigning champ also I'm considering reaching for beon potentially um I don't know Flor I mean like I'm still cool with CD at number two I don't know how you feel glorio I we I said yesterday that like if this is still going on when preseason ends then maybe I'll change but but if you are someone who isn't of our mindset and Lawrence Jackson just took Anthony Richardson first overall in the super no surprise he's been he's been banging that table he's been pounding on that table for a while not I got my boy Josh Allen third I am the rest of the show could whatever could happen I'm ecstatic right now um but what was the question uh C it to if you want if you don't want to take CD lamb it's easier than ever to Pivot because to me Tyreek Hill and CD lamb are in a tier of their own at the wide receiver position yeah I mean again if if we're still talking about this like 10 11 days from now um then maybe I start to kind of rethink the the process but I think you know CD the Cowboys they'll figure something out um come on he's not going to pull Levon Bell I don't see I don't think so he'll pull Zeke he'll pull the curtain right before yeah off um which by the way like are we are we all have we all gotten Brandon auk fatigue now a little bit um I I I don't want to sound like we were saying this but we've been saying this like the most likely outcome is the 49ers and even when a dog was reporting that uh Brandon a was gonna get traded and stuff I I never once moved auk Debo KD Pickins in my rankings because I was like until this happens yeah I don't believe it's going to happen because the incentive for both sides was to come to an agreement in my opinion yeah yeah no I'm I'm with you like I've gone through a roller coaster of emotions mostly as a uh a 49ers fan but it just it seems like we're kind of back where we started where like nothing's going to happen and brand ANUK is going to be a uh a 49er in one I did notice though that in in beste ball drafts Underdog Debo was going wide receiver 10 and auk was going like wide receiver 20 I've seen auk's a drop a lot if you bought that good for a bit yeah for sure for sure um yeah that's it's been amazing I guess because I just believe that he's not really going anywhere so I haven't really really moved what how does this make you if he gets a long-term deal like they're saying does it make you kind of sad because you know that after this year like Debo's probably gone yeah yeah a little bit although I think I've I've I've sort of embracing myself for that right like this this could be the last you know this could to be the last ride with these guys as as is um I got a two-year window for the Rams to go back to the Super Bowl I just need one of your players to just exit left just like you say twoe because Stafford's got two years left is that basically what what you're that's basically what it is cuz after that it's going to be very hard to be a ranch fan again I know it's coming I got to enjoy I just got to have this smile don't worry Jimmy G's there yeah man and the Rams are letting him be himself whatever that no jimy if Jimmy G is starting I will not watch football for the rest of the season like I will come here unprepped well yeah I mean if he's starting if he's starting something went really wrong for the Rams right Stafford got hurt or Stafford is playing awfully um look at this way chances are you won't have to see STS and Bennett as you're starting bad boy through four in a se but one touchdown Which was the gamewinner that's all that matter right it was not great it was not great I do love that he got he threw the game-winning touchdown so you know that matters uh PPR draft eighth pick 12 team which receiver would you choose if somehow Chase Aman ra and Jefferson all fall to you I don't know which of those which of those three do you like the most I like am mon ra believe it or not I think both are handcuffed to some type of quarterback situation where Chase has to deal with you know if Burrow's going to stay healthy it could be that type of season again and then obviously the situation with Justin Jefferson with Sam darnold yeah I at first I was like all on Jamar Chase and I still love Jamar Chase but I'm starting to come around that I think I'd rather have Aman raah than Chase like he's getting moved up like I've I've been seeing him kind of just slowly but surely getting picked right before these two guys and like it's not a bad move like I won't sit there and be mad if somebody did that and their drafts coming up yeah um Jefferson is last of that for me yeah absolutely I think so I think so too crazy things can change let's see uh 12 team full PPR who would you choose for RB to Tony Pard uh javante Williams or toer spears Tai Spears um shout out to Tar County though say wait what there's a tari county in central California I'm guessing that maybe uh only I guess the auto correct I guess the auto correct might have uh uh you know sabotaged Joey here but I know who he's talking about Tai J Spears um I don't know I I'm still a Tai J Spears stand I think I think he is going to challenge Pard for that rb1 job Tennessee definitely challenge for sure I'm surprised you didn't say javante Williams but you probably finally let it go I'm I'm I haven't fully let it go there is a part of me that like you know the last string might send like a might send a late night like you up text or something like that like hey Big Head hey man what's going on like see something like that like um I have it fully let because I keep seeing and reading things that kind of have me sort of back in on oh yeah I mean he would be the one to prove all of us wrong because we've been doubting him these last two seasons and it paid off now it's like he watch this watch me turn up he's also just been in a terrible situation I mean yeah the the offense has not been good the coaching situation has been kind of a mess it you know it's just Melvin Gordon was such a thorn he's a couple years removed from the ACL injury now so you know I don't know there it is um I'm in an eight person PPR league would you take Gibbs or Marvin Harrison if they're both available in the second round I'm going to Target JT I would take Gibbs just because you get JT and then you get a pass catching running back and jir Gibbs um touchdown upsides higher yeah I love that eight team I would almost always go with at least one wide receiver but in an eight teamer you could you're going to get great wide receivers either way yeah yeah wide 12 team 12 team uh drafts it's hard to find wide receivers FL you and I were in a mock draft with the Great Scott Engel last night and boy were we that was a wild draft that was a wild mock man because like wide receivers just kept flying off the board um also I was I was sniped by Matt Hasselbeck multiple times in that g at least three times he literally took the guy that was at the top of my Q right ahead of me it was the WOTE the yeah that happened to me multiple times as well I'm on the clock right now okay I could take puka nakua who is my highest rated wide receiver I already have Josh Allen and AJ brown but Kiran Williams Henry Pacho were there I know where you're going I know who you want to get I I mean I think Kiren is or not kir PUK I think puka might be the move that's what I'm thinking like I I really feel like puka is kind of like there staring you in the face like pick me yeah I think I think puka is the move I mean unless you feel like a brown puka that's a solid start cuz you can still get yourself here's the thing you can still likely find yourself you know I don't know maybe James Cook is there but maybe you know I you can find a pass catching running back somewhere in the next couple of rounds James Cook I mean James Conor James Conor J Warren um I mean I guess if you if you still believe in Alvin Chima a little bit he's still going to be there such a value on him I don't care what anybody says it's just I mean I think it's I think I think he's basically paying a David car or a Derek Car penalty a dard cheat code all those targets and no yards that's all I want baby oh man I me he's he really is going to I was already sort of radicalized against PPR but man if he has another season like last year I am fully fully radicalized Against full point PPR do you guys remember when he was getting like 81 catches three it was like 881 like the first three years wasn't it it was like 81 81 81 like I kind of wish he just kept that going I so I wrote the play callers and like the fantasy impact it had earlier this week and I'm firmly out on Alvin CRA now because of that like kubak was the the passing game coordinator for the 49ers last year and I know people could be like CMC had 83 targets but that's the first time ever he's played 16 games and has hasn't had at least 108 so that's a huge drop off and in his only year as the OC they didn't really get the running back heavily involved plus he likes to use two running backs so I don't know volume is all that CRA has left and and that's a scary proposition I mean what works in his favor is I think he's the number two target yes I about to say I think I think it's he probably is it's it's chimra and means you know uh Rashid rashed Shahed right like Rashid Shahed is like I know he's everybody's like favorite sleeper down there in New Orleans um you know that's that's kind of we need to see him as a full complete wide receiver before I get all crazy very true uh from Frankie zupo original OG follower of this show for years now thanks man uh won all four leagues last year hashtag humble brag thanks to the weekly advice on NFL Network what positional depth slots are you looking to fill within the first four rounds PPR for for uh PPR league with 10 teams um so basically like is there a position you're kind of loading up on wide re receiver it gets really dark after that seventh round and it gets really really scary to where you're like oh no I wish we can use a mulligan to go back so I can get some wide receivers I'm telling you I am I'm sort of curious as to what drafts will look like CU now you're starting to get you know more of the Casual players coming online start play a little bit they obviously you know those folks they're not they're not degenerates who are in this all year right and so they will draft differently than than the rest of us do so while like all of us who have been drafting early like we are going hard at wide receivers like I do wonder will it be the same in casual drafts right like no you know um those folks aren't going to reach for like George Pickins you know what I'm saying like like I don't know Derk Henry I think Isaiah Pacho Travis etn we already see kyen Williams there I think they're all second round picks in in a regular home League like yeah which is going to push wide receivers a little bit further down but I still like am anticipating the first round being heavy wide receivers but I just I think yeah running backs are going to get pulled up in home leagues way more than they do in our sio leagues I'm fully expecting in my home link for Odell Beckham to go in like the seventh eighth round I'm not going to put my friend on blast but I'm telling you now you know the person who's going to do it I know he's I'm pretty sure he's watching he's in the chat Odell Beckham is going to go in the 7eventh fath round because names still sell when people start waking up late in August they go to the people they know by name and think they're still good I'm telling you these things happen so be aware Toronto Dave wants to know if you're going to Greg dorch 101 let's go we got our tickets ready to go let's go we're packed and ready season pass let's go Toronto B I saw that same high highl of him running that out route like I don't know how many times last night just tweeted and retweeted on my timeline we're going to dorand baby all the folks who are going to dorand whove got season passes uh pack and ready to go I I got to get a shirt I got to get a shirt when uh when do you guys do your home League drafts you guys have you set set dates for your home League drafts yet yeah I mean end of the month I mean it's kind of How It's been the last eight years for a Cutthroat season it's these guys don't want to change anything we're we're still doing one quarterback we got kickers and defense it's the standard of standard of PPR league so we're not drafting during the preseason I'm fine with uh with one quarterback leagues I'm actually fine with kickers and defense too like I it's like traditional right it's traditional plus I do appreciate the the little bit of Randomness that's involved I think that levels the playing field you know like if you're playing in a league of people with sort of mixed skill levels um you know having that kicker in there sort of Random things a little bit right when you have a kicker you have a kicker that you know out of nowhere scores you like 19 points or what have you like it just you know it changes things yeah I think I think that's sort of fun for sure um so sorry to keep bringing my draft Labor Day weekend um I'm on Deck here Brandon auk and Devon aan are still on the board and we're in the late fourth round Brandon auk is going to be the guy that you get Florio I'm praying that he falls to you I think I I think it's iuk oh hn just went so all right well the decision's made for I love that though when the decision gets made for you when you're like sitting there between two people and somebody just like okay well now I know what to do auk is a wide receiver three I'll take that all day yeah man so what you have you still haven't gotten a running back yet right you got no or my second quarterback it's super flex but I have Allen AJ Brown puka Brandon auk who to me are all in my top 10 at wide receiver so yeah you're good to go all right all right um yeah Mr scampers actually brings up a good point about home leagues like it may swing so far the other way that you're going to regret not getting a running back early that if you go you know if you try to go zero RB it might be tougher if everybody is drafting a lot of running backs like for sure for I'm sure Derk Derrick Henry's going like in the first round in some of these drafts I can tell you now somewhere I would guess a home League in Baltimore Derrik Henry probably goes really early y really early yeah um when either you buy mayonnaise scented cologne oh God if Will lives up to expectation you will catch me smelling like mayonnaise around the he said it's like a citrus smell though like it's a very like I don't know as somebody who like so here's the thing I don't love mayonnaise enough to like buy a jar and keep it in my fridge but every now and then if I cook something that calls for mayonnaise I've learned to make my own just make a small batch of it and it does like lemon juice citrus is a big part of it um I will say that I you know maybe I'm biased because it's mine but I think the homemade freshly made stuff is way better than the stuff process foods yeah yeah you know it's just better so yeah like citrus is actually a part of it you squeeze some lemon in there a little salt and pepper with your eggs and oil and just like blend it all together uh and get you some creamy mayonnaise uh yeah I apparently though he sprayed it at a press conference yeah like he sprayed all the uh you know in the vicinity of all the reporters and um it apparently uh I I guess the smell lingered like it wasn't terrible from what I heard lingers I don't want to hear that like it it wasn't apparently it wasn't terrible but it lingered a little bit Ken Walker or Trey McBride Trey McBride Trey boom didn't W on the squad wow still no running backs through F oh Mark Andrews went right after so all right so good call here comes the the tight end run begins Marcus on the exact OPP opposite of you I love mayonnaise okay like I'll put it on a lot of stuff I don't I don't hate it I just don't love it like and I don't eat it enough to buy it on what though I need to hear what you put it on so I'm not like a weirdo who will like put it on stuff that it doesn't belong on but like any sandwich Burgers yeah oh Mayo okay with French frieser on a burger or something like that with french fries were you like a European with what's wrong with you not raw but like if you mix it with ketchup oh got it okay that's a that's I feel like going to Louis Burger now for some reason all right do you guys like dipping french fries in vinegar no um like just like The Malt vinegar stuff yeah I will do it if I have fish and chips like I won't just order a burger and fries and use malt vinegar but if I have fish and chips because then I'll just sprinkle it over all of that stuff okay and it is an interesting like you know sort of Tangy Zippy flavor to it for sure I I like it but I only do it at Five Guys I still have never eaten it at Five Guys I hear what mortgage out on your house that's what I hear and it's not a it's not like a you know intentional thing it's just that I've never when I get hungry especially if I'm out like get never crosses my mind to go to one East Coast hype thing though easily like accessible like right I'm not like you know actively railing against the place it just you know circumstances have never led me to enter the door it's better than Inn out well I'm going to go with no you never had it oh come on Mike I'm just going to say no like just again I I will tell you that as a native Californian I I am Duty Bound to You are obligated to defend in and out against all foreign Invaders I will also tell you I will also tell you that fat burger is better good don't like fat burger this guy's confused well I Five Guys is really good but the reason I like In-N-Out more is because I think it has to be like if you were comparing like a featherweight fighter to like Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson obviously like Mike Tyson would knock out but you got to compare by the price point right and like In-N-Out wins in that battle every single time oh man all right all right uh I guess we should answer a fantasy question uh I'd rather not have the number one pick in a snake draft waiting for the next pick and watching all the top players go would be awful rather having a mid- round pick six7 or eight which do you hope for so basically the question is where where do you prefer to be uh in your draft order I I found a lot better builds in the middle of the draft so I can understand not having the one Mante Tao just talked to him not too long ago he's trying to move out of that first round pick to get to the 12th spot so that's kind of like a huge leap so we'll get back to him later but I definitely feel like the middle of the draft you could build a nice little team there little bit of a peak behind it CT we are actually uh efforting to get Manti Tao uh who's one of our newest one of our newest co-workers yeah uh we are we we have learned lacoin learned that he is a big fantasy guy he loves it so we're GNA try to get mantio on the show hopefully really really soon so keep an eye out for that um before we get out of here we have to do one last edition of florio's film festival uh as we wrap up our season finale I had originally suggested we do uh the Ridley Scott classic from the early 80s Blade Runner which by the way is an excellent film and you guys should watch it on your own time uh and if you love it go watch Blade Runner 2049 but that's a different story uh but asid to Pivot to office space because you know workplace comedy from the '90s uh it just I think has a little bit more of a wide appeal to it uh it is one of my favorites um so and neither of you had seen it which was is really great that neither of you had seen this movie so Flor I will start with you your first impressions having now seen office space this was like paint manning breaking down the defense and calling in audible cuz I I've never seen Blade Runner but I'm going to go out on a limb and say I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed office face I really enjoyed this movie it makes fun of all of the stuff of office life that I hate uh and and all of that and like it does it in such a funny way the characters are likable um so yeah I really I really really enjoyed this movie I'm definitely watching it again it to me I can't put it ahead of like Warriors and and Godzilla minus one and Gladiator but like comedies I think it surpasses the big Labowski for me okay that's fair no but here's the thing office space is incredibly rewatchable it's incredibly rewatchable uh I mean I don't know Lan what what did you think of it uh my favorite character is Lawrence like he needed more scenes like I love La n man not going to let you ruin my life Peterman turn on Channel 9 yeah L was needed more scenes like he needed to be more included in the movie but it was just the right amount dosage to make you go rewatch it man like that that that dude is off the chain um yeah it's just there's so many quotable things from that movie you know um I I still to this day want a jump to conclusions Matt you know um there are some conclusions and you can jump to them um yes you know stuff like that uh I one thing I didn't learn about this movie because you know have the scene where Jennifer Aniston uh breaks up with I did not expect to see her in this movie by the way so this was around friends the reason this literally around friends it was around friends and also the reason they had that breakup scene is because I guess halfway through filming the movie she was like this movie's awful I don't want to be here anymore like you got to write me out of it U like this movie is never going to do anything it's never going to be anything so she wanted to kind of get written out of it so they wrote that breakup scene and that got her free and now here it is it's a cult classic that has endured for but uh yeah man I it's it's a fun movie and I feel like at some point we have all felt like you know probably Peter you know the I don't want to come to work today um every day you see me is the worst day of my life which means you see me that today is the worst day of your life and straight faed he's like yep yep yep and tomorrow will be worse you know we've all we've all had a boss like Bill Lumberg like it's just all samir's underrated character as well that's funny because I only remember him from Bad Santa and if you watch that movie in the scene that he's in in the parking L it's completely hilarious yeah Samir uh great Michael Bolton which by I mean we have our we kind of have our own Michael Bolton situation here where we've got a guy on this show who shares name why I change my name you know shares a name with another guy in this industry that also has like a big following it's it's a it's a whole thing so um hilarious yeah man I'm I'm glad you enjoyed it uh it's been a fun summer uh of of us doing it I I'm glad that we put this together shout out to to lacoin who this was his brainchild originally um and and we made it happen we got to go through it thanks to Susie who uh had to sit through our Shenanigans for number of weeks this summer but especially a big thanks to all of you out there yes in the chat uh who really made this thing happen right you guys were very engaging a lot of questions a lot of comments you made it fun for us uh you made it worth kind of jumping in and doing this every single week so we appreciate it uh we're not going anywhere obviously we're going to have podcasts for you as the season is underway twice a week Monday and Wednesday you can find the podcast NFL fantasy live uh is back on television as well so uh you be on the lookout for all of that stuff and who knows uh because this thing was really kind of fun maybe we bring it back uh next offseason too because uh it was it was a whole lot of fun so um yeah there was a time a couple like a month or so ago where or maybe even a little longer than that where we were like maybe we're picking up schedule wise maybe we get rid of the cheat sheet and the reason we didn't was because of all the people in the comments and everything like that so thank you guys for making
