welcome in duall Daily presented by Jin jag.com I'm Jordan delugo thank you so much for tuning in here on Thursday August 29th right now after preseason has ended we've had cut Downs to 53 man rosters we've had practice squads filled out for the most part it's a little bit of a LOL for the next few days you know a cal before the storm of the 2024 and season in the 2024 Jaguars season so we're going to take a look at some big picture things over the next few days you know bold predictions for the seasons final record predictions strength and weaknesses of this roster Jaguars roster and of course getting into next week we will have a ton of content previewing the Jaguars week one matchup with the Miami Dolphins but today I want want to take inventory of what the Jaguars 2025 needs could look like because again we will be embroiled in this 2024 season for quite quite some time you know after this week next week it is full steam ahead towards week one and towards that 2024 campaign so we're going to take a look at what the Jaguars 2025 roster needs could potentially be here today uh just because again we're not going to be thinking much about 2025 for the next several months it doesn't it doesn't look like so uh I just wanted to kind of take a peek ahead where things could be here really appreciate y'all tuning in if you enjoy the content please like subscribe hit that notification Bell you can also check out jj. shop pick up some new doall gear become a channel member here on YouTube so I have a couple uh couple categories here and it's really four position groups that I'm looking at that I think could or maybe will be the Jaguars biggest needs Head into 2024 2025 excuse me um the first group I wanted to look at is things I think absolutely will be a need and then the second group is things that could be a need depending on how some contract situations go so I think cornerback is absolutely going to be a need and that has nothing to do with Tyson Campbell or jarian Jones or deontre Prince any of these young guys any of you know Tyson Campbell is going to be the Jaguars number one corner or at least a starting corner for the Jaguars for a while but Ronald Darby's up there in age he's dealt with injuries throughout his career um do you want to enter 2025 with him stall on the roster the Jaguars could certainly get out of that deal do you want to enter 2025 with him still as your number two corner I'm not sure and I think the Jaguars could look at it and say we we and it probably will depend on the development of again jaran Jones deontre Prince these young guys over the next several months but I think you could certainly look at cornerback and say the Jaguars could view it as a need and and maybe they want to go address that with one of their first couple picks in the 2025 NFL draft to get a really young super talented guy like as good as jarian Jones can be I do think he will project best inside um he's not the biggest cornerback he doesn't have the greatest length so I think finding someone with more prototypical size Jones absolutely has prototypical athleticism but more prototypical size combined with athleticism I think that could be a a major play for the Jaguars heading into the 2025 season um I personally have said all offseason I thought that they should have pursued another quality starter veteran at cornerback not because I don't think Ronald Derby can't do it but because both of your starters have significant injury history and if either of them goes down you're looking at starting probably a very young player either a rookie or Buster Brown so I just think cornerback is a position to keep an eye on I really do and then even more pressing maybe than corner I think absolutely will be a need here is guard Ezra Cleveland is locked in for the next couple years at the very least um Cooper Hodges I think the Jaguars are going to try to keep around they really like what he can be but you know Brandon Sheriff he's not getting any younger and he's a a player that while I still view him as a very good pass protector and I'm someone that has kind of been a Brin and Sheriff Defender over the last year or so because you know a lot of folks have been wanting him to be no longer a Jacksonville Jaguar no longer in the starting lineup I still think he absolutely does in in this situation deserve to be a starter for the Jaguars and I think with an improved plan in the Run game that Brandon Sheriff could look a little bit more like he did in Washington where he was a really great run blocker and look he's still one of the best pass protecting guards in the game and yeah I saw the play the other night where he gave up a quick pressure that was a difficult assignment thought maybe there was a little bit of miscommunication as well but overall you go watch Brandon sheriff and pass Pro like just go watch him over and over and over again this guy's getting it done at a higher level than most guards so I'm fine with him in the starting lineup for this year but he's 32 going into his 33 season and he's on the final year of his deal and so do the Jaguars resign someone at that point I don't know I don't know I think you might want to try to get younger at that position and they like Cooper Hodges I know a lot of fans like Cooper Hodges right now Cooper Hodes is not looking like the same type of player that he was before his injury his knee injury and so I think that I would be hesitant to say that to say that he's ready to you know come in and be a starter in 2025 at Right Guard Cooper hajes so I think you could be looking at guard as a position where maybe they go get a younger veteran um maybe they draft someone on the first couple days of the draft at guard that can come in and and start right away I think that that's a strong possibility and then these other two positions I think you could you can certainly point at them and say that their immediate needs for 2025 but my gut feeling is that the Jaguars will solve these issues potential issues at these positions and that's offensive tackle um and safety and at offensive tackle cam Robinson and Walker little are both unrestricted free agents following the 2024 season I I look at it and I think Walker little is going to be on the jack Jaguars roster in 2025 I think they're going to sign him to a deal where it's like you know we're signing you to be our starter we know you haven't had a ton of reps but we have seen you in games every single year and you performed well at tackle um you're a good pass protector you're a hard worker you deserve this opportunity uh it's just like if if you're Walker Little's representation do you want to test the free agent Waters who knows but I think that one way or the other the Jaguars are going to keep Walker little in Jacksonville beyond the 2024 season that's just kind of how I view that he is a Trent buy draft pick he's got great size great length again has been good on the field for the Jaguars so I think Walker little will be kept and I think that will solve the Jaguars you know potential offensive tackle issues needs following the 2024 season but that is yet to be determined that's just kind of personally how I'm viewing it I think that they really value him based on the way they talk about him and I think that if all things were equal and cam Robinson wasn't getting paid what he's getting paid that he probably Walker little probably would have been given an opportunity to really compete for left tackle this year but because they're paying cam Robinson you know just an extremely high amount they got to pay the they got to play the guy that's getting paid and then at safety you have Antonio Johnson locked in Darnell Savage can play safety as well even though he's going to be the Jaguars primary nickel I believe um but Andre Cisco is entering the final year of his rookie deal and I was pretty adamant about I think the Jaguar should have signed him to a reasonable deal prior to this year maybe he didn't want to maybe the Jags didn't want to I'm not sure but I think that's going to be a tough one the Jaguars have the cap space to get things done that they need to get done they absolutely do they have the cap flexibility to do that like everybody talks about Trevor Lawrence's contract that contract does not get big until like 2027 2028 so they have the flexibility to do what they need to do if they want to keep a guy like an Andre Cisco and a walker little Andre Cisco I think is going to have a magnificent season in Ryan nielson's defense and I think the fact that they're not paying him early could end up being a Josh Hines Allen type of situation where they just have to pay a ton like a premium at that position or let him walk and so either way uh hopefully they're able to keep him but if not safety is going to be a huge need unless you say well Darnell Savage you're going to be our free safety in 2025 that's what he did for the Green Bay Packers the Jaguars signed him more to play nickel I think that he has a better shot at being more effective at nickel than he was at safety um just playing in a lot more uh confined spaces where his athleticism can really show and his instincts can really show but it's going to be fascinating to see how it plays out with with Andre Cisco because I I think he is a star I think he is a Bonafide Ball Hawk at safety you saw Jesse Bates go from Cincinnati to Atlanta last year and absolutely take off on the interception front with Ryan neelson being his def defensive coordinator I think you could see a very similar and I don't think that Andre Cisco is necessarily in the same tier as Jesse Bates but as a ball Hawk I do think he is I think Jesse Bates is a little bit more consistent otherwise but as a ball Hawk I think Andre Cisco could be up there with the very best safeties in the game forcing turnovers and getting the football back for the offense so it's going to be fascinating to see how it plays out there with Andre Cisco but those are the top needs for me I think looking at the roster elsewhere you've got answers you've got youth you've got guys under contract but the bottom line is cornerback um safety offensive tackle offensive guard those are the spots that the Jaguars are going to have big decisions to make following the 2024 campaign if there's a position I missed let me know in the comment section below if you enjoy the content please like subscribe hit that notification Bell you can also check out gag.com shop pick
