"Luther Burden III Is A LETHAL WEAPON!" | 2025 NFL Draft Prospect Spotlight!

the 2024 NFL draft was loaded with some of the most wide receiver Talent we have ever seen and while the 2025 NFL draft isn't quite as loaded there was one Prospect everyone had their eyes on and were asking what if that Prospect was Missouri wide receiver Luther Burton a player many people thought was a first round pick in last year's loaded wide receiver class how high does he ultimately get end evaluations and big board but without further Ado let's take a deeper dive into Luther Burton Missouri was one of the biggest surprises of the college football season in 2023 and Burton was a massive part of that he finished the season with 86 receptions 1,29 yards and nine touchdowns on the season and was statistically one of the best wide receivers in all of college football he is expected to have a another massive year for the Tigers in 2024 a team that has college football playoff hopes and there he is the early favorite to be the first wide receiver off the board in next year's draft the first area that really sticks out with burden is his explosive speed he uses it a lot in a lot of different ways but he has some of the best speed in the entire draft class Missouri used him a lot on screens and short bubble plays and he is able to make big plays happen after the catch and turn nothing into something of his 1,29 yards 724 of them came after the catch and he has blazing speed his average depth of Target was only 8.7 yards but he turned those receptions into much bigger plays because he was just faster than everyone on the field but the other area his speed is really apparent is as a deep ball threat he has an amazing first step off the line of scrimmage and if he gets a good release he is one of the best deep ball threats in the entire country because he just blows by secondaries and it's an area that is a huge strength for Luther burden buron also has some really solid hands for the wide receiver position he had four drops in 2023 which is a number I'd like to see come down a little bit but they mostly looked like concentration drops and it's an area that I definitely think can improve but he does have really solid hands and he caught almost everything within his range I think his contested catch ability was something that I didn't expect to see from him that really impressed me he had a 56.5% contested catch rating which is incredibly impressive and he has Elite ball tracking abilities as well and the ability to make plays through the air with his hands is something that I think gets underrated when we talk about Luther buron Burton is also an extremely sharp route Runner he understands how a cella's routes and he knows how to create separation both deep but also in the intermediate game he is Twitchy he's quick and he understands how to get open and those are all tools that are going to translate incredibly well at the NFL level Burton doesn't have a lot of areas to nitpick we mentioned the drop issues but other than that he's a very technically sound Prospect the biggest issue people will have with burden is his size He's listed at 511 208 lb and while that looks solid on paper he does look smaller than what he has listed on Missouri depth chart he isn't the biggest wide receiver in the world now he does play bigger than his listed size with the contested catchability and the ability to go up and get it but it is an area that I think could limit him to being a primarily slot weapon at the NFL level that's something to take note of the other area that I think he could definitely improve upon is his blocking he typically like you like to see your receivers get out in space help create lanes for the running back but Burton really didn't offer for much in that department and he wasn't the best Blocker in the world for a Missouri team that ran the ball a lot I should say so I'd like to see his blocking improve a little bit before we start calling him a perfect Prospect despite a few critiques however Burton is still an incredible wide receiver and has so many tools that I think he can bring to an NFL team he has speed physicality route running I think he's going to be an awesome player he is my number one wide receiver in this class and to put that into perspective I have the same tier on him as I did Malik neighbors last year I think he's going to be awesome he's a top 10 player in the draft class for me in terms of a scheme fit I think Luther Burton is a perfect fit for the modern NFL a player who can be used in a high Tempo spread Shanahan style offense he's a guy who can be used a lot on RPO bubble screens but also can be a threat off of play action with his ability to go deep and win across the middle of the field he's exactly the type of wide receiver who NFL teams desire in the modern game because he has such a versatile skill set can play inside and out and he has the speed to make things happen after the catch and I think he is going to be a perfect fit and a spread offense in the NFL my player comparison for Luther Burton is Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore both of them have almost identical size and they have a very similar skill set both of them can play both inside and out and Moore is a player who is very good after the catch but I don't think he gets the love he should they both are very physical they're good route Runners and they have very similar ways in which they can make plays I really like DJ Moore and I think he's one of the most underrated receivers in football I think Luther Burton could come in and have an immediate impact very similar to DJ Moore so that's my comparison for him Luther Burton is a Lethal Weapon he has speed physicality versatility good hands and is exactly what NFL coordinators are looking for in the modern game I think he is a fantastic player and ultimately I believe Luther Burton will be a top 10 pick in the 2025 NFL draft [Music]
