former top aid for New York's Governor hok is charged with acting as a foreign agent for China now at the end of this I'm going to give you my take about like why this story is so important but before we do all that let's first talk about the details about this story and what exactly happened so I first saw this story come across my Instagram feed on uh from ground news actually great account to follow if you're on Instagram and you like to get your news on Instagram uh I went then and found this article on Yahoo News where they go into detail about what exactly happened here so the Aiden question's name is Linda Sun uh Federal prosecutors have charged uh Linda sun with uh violating and conspiring to violate the foreign agents registration agent this is a a Visa fraud also money laundering conspiracy that uh was charged with as well as conspiracy to commit bank fraud so son is accused of acting at the request of the People's Republic of China uh as an official for the Chinese Communist Party Representatives by blocking representatives of the Taiwanese government from accessing highlevel New York state officers obtaining official state proclamations for the PRC government Representatives without authorization attempting to facilitate a trip to the PRC by a highlevel state politician and More in return uh son allegedly received substantial monetary benefits that she and who uh her husband allegedly laundered to purchase real estate in Manhasset a condominium in Hawaii and multiple luxury Vehicles okay so I kind of had dual reactions coming across the story I mean first not really surprised to see a story like this because I think you know inherently a lot of us just think that there is corruption you know in and around uh politics you know whether it's you know at the federal level at the state level but still I think every time that you actually hear one of these stories and you get one of the details of these stories it is a little jar at least it is for me anyway every time that I do come across a story like this knowing that there was somebody who was acting on behalf of another country you know within our country and at the state level even I mean sometimes you think these things are almost like localized to happening in Washington DC but it feels I think it feels a little more jarring even to see it happening in individual states um you know even a state as big as New York so you know money in politics is you know a conversation that we constantly are having right we need to get money out of politics money out of politics people talk about the disastrous decision that citizens united was uh back in the early 2010s when that just basically allowed infinite amounts of money to Kind Of Swarm over our elections as we're seeing this cycle for instance as billions of dollars are being spent on the 24 election but I think sometimes when we talk about money in politics one of the things that doesn't seem to come up as much when we bring up this subject is how influence can be penetrating our politics from abroad and it's something that I personally did not think about whatsoever um until more recently you know as we've been seeing a lot of conversations you know around APAC for instance which I'm going to get to here in a minute but you know we're also seeing stories that came out last year for those of you who saw the story about uh Senator Bob Menendez uh New Jersey senator Democrat who recently just resigned from the Senate after it was like proven multiple times over that he was accepting bribes from the Egyptian government we actually covered that story on uh on the left wing last year I show that I used to be a part of but you know that's not the only story that we've seen like that you know there was also you know some of you might have seen this there was a story that came out of Arizona uh this was you know like last year this kind of like blew up a little bit but this kind of been ongoing for a long time now we're going to put this up on the screen here so this is a article from CBS news said that Arizona is cancelling leases that allowed Saudi owned Farms unlimited access to the state's groundwater so when you go into the article one of the things you first see is that an investig vation by the governor's office found that the foreign owned Farm had violated some of its lease terms uhe uh Governor Hobs called it unacceptable and that the farm continued to pump unchecked amounts of groundwater out of the state while in clear default on their lease uh photoon photom Monti Arizona I'm butchering this name right now a subsidiary of a Saudi dairy giant uh grows Alfalfa in Arizona that feeds Livestock in the water stress Gulf Kingdom uh CBS News previously reported that Alfalfa is actually illegal to grow in Saudi Arabia because of how much water it takes to grow the crop okay so you may be asking yourself like what exactly does this story in Arizona have to do with the broader theme of what we've been talking about well give give me a second here let's actually go to this next part of the article here where it says the violations of the governor's office details relate to the company storage of hazardous materials along with other issues uh so the governor's office said that uh fond mate was notified of the violations in 2016 but an investigation in August found that the company had not fixed the problem 7 years later so how exactly is a company able to continue to operate with violations for seven plus years in Arizona and while also just pumping groundwater like unrelentlessly I mean know like you know relentlessly out of you know the Arizona desert to which you have to know that like the ground water that's actually underneath the surface in Arizona has been collecting down there for thousands of years so this is like a terrible thing for uh the environment in that state especially a state that like so routinely has a hard time getting access to water in the first place so the reason why this was able to be happening was and we're going to put this next one up on the screen here so this piece is from The Intercept where it shows that a lobbyist for the Saudi alphalpha company was actually elected to a Maricopa County Board of Supervisors this is Thomas Galvin who lobbied on behalf of the Saudi company soaking up Arizona's groundwater so Galvin was elected to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors where he held sway over an ongoing water dispute also again a lobbyist for the Saudi you know company he was elected in the midterms to the post where he was first appointed in 2021 lobbied on behalf of the Saudi owned farming company uh which is using Arizona's most depleted natural resource for for exports I mean this this is kind of like you know again just another example about how people who are essentially working for foreign governments are able to come over here to America and find different ways to penetrate our you know our politics on behalf of their of their governments and you know the thing about all of this is like yes there's a lot of different you know issues going on in our in our our politics right now and there are you know people within our own country here you know different like companies that we've seen big insurance companies you know Pharma companies you know like energy companies what have you they are also going out of their way to you know extract concessions from our politicians to you know essentially like bribe our politicians that's true but I think the thing that feels really Sinister about all of this is the fact that we can't really see it happening we don't really know it's happening there's nothing really transparent about all this we just find these things out kind of like by happen stance sometimes it just kind of feels like we don't even really know what's going on I mean for the most part I don't think the average person even knew what you know an entity like APAC was just until maybe this year you know it's it's kind of like it's drawing to me that way and that's kind of like why I wanted to talk about this you know like I haven't yet on this channel uh this year kind of gone into what's happening over in Gaza and the West Bank you know uh but you know for those of you who follow me on Instagram you know that I cover what's been happening there you know pretty extensively and I have been just overwhelmed by the influence that I've seen here in America by the Israeli government through an entity like APAC and that's kind of the reason why I wanted to talk about all of this because it's not just you know Israel it's not just Saudi Arabia it's not just just China but it see but you know it is it's pervasive to me to see like all these different governments being able to have this level of influence over our politics you know truthly truthfully speaking because you know going to the Israel thing in in particular you know APAC has now contributed over like a hundred million into the 2024 election cycle they have ousted uh Jamal Bowman uh who was you know going to be who was going to be a congress person you know up in New York they spent like around $25 million which is the most ever spent in a congressional uh race before they spent that got him out of there Corey Bush they spent around another 8 million dollar uh getting her Ed from her sea in St Louis uh Missouri and I am just absolutely just again just overwhelmed by what we are seeing here because what I think there's different reasons that are this is that there's an upro about this on the left and on the right but there truly is like a Unison in the fact that you know people on both sides of the aisle like at the Grassroots level like your average day every Democratic voter and your average day you know average everyday Republican voter like nobody really wants our country to be involved in what's going on over in Israel uh maybe for different reasons you know I think those on the right are probably thinking more like hey America am first like let's deal with our own problems here people on the left are seeing the humanitarian atrocities that are happening over there and how Gaza is in the middle of you know an ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing and everyone can't seem to figure out why we are so entrenched in all of this when it's so obvious to everyone that no one really no one on the ground no average person actually wants to be involved in this the way that we are and the only real conclusion that anyone can come to is the monetary influence that these governments seem to have over our government you know it is absolutely unbelievable to me that an you know entity like APAC for instance is able to donate or not donate but you know spend a hundred million do uh on our elections here in the US and somehow it's legal somehow that is legal it shouldn't be legal but somehow it is legal and think about the return on investment that they have you know I mean how much money has been sent over to Israel in the last like year uh because of lobbying here uh in America uh actually you know to that effect let's play this video really quick so you have an APAC which is basically lobing for another country they paid $100 million in order to buy seats for congress people and senates and because of the people they were able to put there they were able to approve $ 26 billion to Israel your politicians are being bought for $100 million and because of that your country will send $26 billion to a different country 26 billion that could have been spend in my own country in my own Community this is the biggest the best uh return of investment ever you pay 100 million and I take back 26 billion from you that's crazy so here's the thing you know kind of like how that you know how that person was saying in that video it is an unbelievable return on investment and it's honest you know beyond unethical and you know being immoral it just let's just call it what it is it should not be legal it should not be legal at the end of the day for foreign entities to be able to come here to America and bribe our government it shouldn't be legal for domestic entities to be bribing our government with such like high dollar donations now it feels at the you know it feels really like every single problem that we have in our policy itics is concentrated behind the idea that enormous sums of money are able to flow into our nation's capital into all 50 state capitals and they are able to overwhelmingly dominate the policies that are coming out of those places and meanwhile the people are just being told basically any kind of spin that they need to be told in order to make them okay with the policy decisions that are being made until that Chang is I do not know if we're ever going to really have a truly representative government the government that we all deserve thank you for
