Construction Begins on LNG Center of Excellence at McNeese State University

[Music] welcome back joining us in studio right now we have Jason with LG Center of Excellence welcome thank you so much for being here thank you for having us to okay so for those at home who aren't aware tell us about l& Center of Excellence CU you guys just had a groundbreaking for this we did we had a groundbreaking two weeks ago in Lake Charles on MCN State University's campus it's a 23,000 ft facility about $8 million that spent a couple years in the Mak uh partially federally funded and funded through private donations but what it's going to do is create an opportunity for Louisiana as a whole to take advantage of this globally significant industry that's that's in our backyard there's been over 35 billion billion with a be yeah investment in LG in Louisiana and this Center is going to help ensure that Louisiana students have an opportunity to work in that industry and that research about that industry happens here in Louisiana as well I think it's really cool that we're going to have a facility like this in kind of our our own backyard and we were talking during the break UL actually has a role in this as well yes so uh Dr rsh colu Mark zappy at at at UL have been big uh time advocates for this project and uh it was just recently announced a couple weeks ago by Senator Kennedy who's been a key leader on this um that we're bringing the national Center of Excellence so Congress actually created a center with a national designation created by Congress and that's going to be located in Lake Charles but MCN we're a smaller University UL is a research one University so we're going to be collaborating with ul and their research resources to be doing really worldclass research to ensure that the industry that's in our backyard continues to operate safely environmentally efficiently and can continue to operate safely for decades to come and that's kind of gamechanging for students it it it truly is this is creating an opportunity to learn not just about the technical if you want to go in and work into in a plant on the technical side we'll have a curriculum for that but as we're waiting for the building the building will be open in Fall of 2025 so we'll have students in in 2025 but now we're already teaching in our business school a uh certificate in LG business so students who want to be part of this indry can be part of it now too that's amazing and if there are students out there that are watching that want to learn more about this this might be a career path that they want to go down how can they learn more we'll be we will be advertising as as we get closer to the construction date a website and things like that we don't actually have it yet we're about 14 months from the building opening um but tremendously excited look to the mcne State website or here at UL through the through the energy Institute here at UL we'll have information available very soon for students who are interested in this them thank you so much for hanging out and sharing this with our viewers today thank you thank you for having us it's really a great step for Louisiana and we're happy to be spreading the word about it yeah I love that it's in our own backyard too if you guys at home want to learn more about the l&g center of excellence head to our website ken.com everything you need is right there let's check in with Adam Olivier
