1st quarter yeah been waiting and waiting and finally the moment is coming in the opening of the season and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line so the Notre Dame Fighting Irish offense heads onto the field for the first possession of this game and they're LED out there by a man who will carry the ball plenty in this one guys well it's real simple he's the best player on their team they have got to force feed this guy the football David no doubt about the offense goes through him excited to see how they've built this offense and how many different ways they can get him touches they'll keep it on the ground makes a man miss stopped after a pick up of four good run to get it out to the 34 this crowd trying to make life miserable for this offense they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they have a first down out at the 43 they'll run this play from the pistol it's a really good sign if you're on offense you're you're putting it on your offensive line on third down critical down in distance opening drive of the game let those guys fire off get a hat on a hat you can run the ball pick up the first you're around Midfield all things looking pretty good here early for this offense that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there the give to the tailback and he's able to bounce off one tackle but still not a whole lot of running R got three on first down it's second and seven scanning the field it's Leonard they're bringing heat couldn't find anyone open here and he'll live to fight another play it'll be third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum he fires one deep down the right side and it looks as if they're going to try a field goal and he's going to have to get into this football this is a 53 yd attempt it's good and that'll put the first points of the game on the board it's three to nothing and that's exactly what you want as a coach you want to drive the ball down the field and get some form of points to create some momentum for your squad to start the season how about the kicker one for one in the year he's perfect [Applause] after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it [Applause] away he'll start the return inside his spot and he's able to pick his way through the traffic nicely for a good return on that one before he's brought down so Texas A&M's offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today and how about this matchup of a couple of guys who just don't get tired and don't mind being handed the football Jesse and I love this matchup too because in modern football it's all about throwing the ball and spread and Tempo and air rate offenses let's go back to toading the Rock old school two of the best running backs in the business here and the defenses now like they know the challenge they know these guys are going to tow it they got to be physical committing guys to the Box not letting these running backs have success today on Third and long he has to throw for it got it set up on the outside defense was not fooled by that screen to the back and they'll stop him short of the marker it'll be fourth down Texas A&M will have to boot it away they make the stop on the return but there is laundry on the field let's get the call personal foul kick so the decision has been made and the coach will take the p penalty so it's first and 10 after that costly defensive penalty on fourth down and he find some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop it got eight on first down now looking at a second and two defense a little too jumpy there and they got into the neutral zone too soon contact in the neutral zone leads to that penalty good news for for the offense wide receiver now comes in motion touch pass on the run and how about the work up front by that big defensive line offense gets set for second down dropping back it's Wegman quickly to the tight end and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there they're within field goal range at the 29 let's see if they can pick up a few or the first down on Third and long throws to the wide out t spot in the middle and fire the completion there in the red zone and set up at the 13 and listen the defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they are able to cover him throughout the rest of this game and it's incomplete it was wild High high and wide on that one boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal off play action and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 great timing by the defense there obviously the offense has the ball in the Red Zone you're trying to create a negative play to back them up they do that with the sack and if they're now going to try a field goal it's going to be a little more work for the kicker now on fourth down they'll send out the field goal unit the kicker will reach for a 36 yd attempt it is true as he puts three on the board but wait there is a flag on the play now this is on the defense it won't be enough for the first down can't make contact with the kicker like that a costly special teams penalty you've got to know your path in front of the kicker offense comes back on the field snowed under after a pick up of two they'll mark it at the eight defense rolls up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he'll run it to the middle looking for the End Zone dragged down at the six after a pick up of two they've held this ball forever driven it deep now facing a third and goal Let it Fly and it's caught touchdown agies and what did ni start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this [Music] offense lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point makes it seven to three precise Relentless execution on that 13pl scoring drive and they get it into the end zone with a 6yd touchdown pass on the run from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 nerame has the ball and ready to get moving the give to the back get it has the first down marker and still running and he's brought down after a nice game they'll snap this one from the 30 on first in tag receiver on the Move gets the touch pass just working and poking and pling and finding his way up to the 36 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four FSE start off the official offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty back to pass it's Leonard a beautifully placed ball to the outside and the tow drag for the big pickup NRE Dame ready to go with another first down the Irish have always been built on the run but timely completions are important like the great Tom Clem back in the day or John hu got to be clutch right got got to be balanced and got to find those moments where you can drive it's always a system it seems like it noted a it's been built around the Run game and it's built around physicality but they got to get that element of balance to really take off and get to that next level good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch on the run it's l got enough for the first and you're going to hear this guy's name a lot they're going to ride the big fell such a stud they're going to build the offense around him this is just game one but you're going to get a lot of big runs from this what a snag by the defense and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set its offense up for business Zone equals eyes when I say that DBS linebackers all covering the middle of the field so many guys over the middle of the field trying to take away the easy stuff but reading the quarterback's eyes the whole time whenever he breaks to throw that football and that hand separates from the ball I'm breaking on it you can tell they had a beat on it nice Cut nice instincts give me that int Texas A&M has it back on the offense ready to go to work Jesse looking to take it down the field for backto back touchdowns I think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place Texas A&M has the lead at the end of the quarter and after that first quarter let's see if these guys can get back in the game in the [Music] second will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down 2nd quarter looking for a physical attack from the gun and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs Foundation of Aggie football built on toughness like that running it like John David Crow back in the day and those Texas people are tough and rugged and you know they wear their great outfits that you love to watch but these these Aggies I think they're at their best when they got great running backs and you've seen Spiller and achain in recent history finding those game Breakers those game Busters that can make big plays tackled almost immediately they well short of the first down to the air it's Wegman nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away and the agies will send out the punt unit every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the passes coming so I can have more success this guy is a daring punt return man he's not going to settle for the fair catch a solid return gets a little bit of ground for the offense that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five well they were trying to set up the option but the quarterback had no chance did you see the defensive tackle penetrate what a great first step he shot right through the offensive line and got the tfl let's see what they find in the playbook for third and long from the 43 trying playaction and the defense gets to the quarterback and third and long and the offense goes with a little play action I don't know why the threat of the run I'm not scared by that you can tell the defense doesn't honor it doesn't buy it flies by the line gets to the quarterback gets the big third down stop the Irish send out the punt unit three and out and not much choice but the get rid of the ball fair catch called for and made around the 20 yd line Texas A&M has it back and we say howdy to the AI offense again they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one day but to me that starts with being the more physical team no I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute here they come trying to convert a third and short from the 28 they'll try to pick it up on the ground and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short the aie send out the punt team to kick it [Applause] away and they'll get down after the return at the 27 yd line out comes the offense as they get set to take over from the gun running back gets to give they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 looks as if the defense was a little too eager there got into the neutral zone and that'll be a 5yd penalty defense couldn't quite hold its water and it'll be five free yards for the O looking downfield it's Leonard using the quick game and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they're going to test the right side with this one and sticking to the run I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubborn and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football you can tell he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three better find the ear pluged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down and they got him for the sack things working pretty well for this defense out of the dime package and still getting plenty of heat on the quarterback get off the rock understand the situation all the fast guys got the back endend cover it's my job to seek and destroy the quarterback great job by the defensive line rushing after that guy and getting him on the ground Notre Dame lining up to pun it away you'll call for the fair catch here Texas A&M has it back and the offense ready to go to work they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead though yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass they're trying to get to it still on his speed at the 45 picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact the aies come to the line with a fresh set of downs from the gun the running back has it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and [Applause] 11 power football with the run just a solid stop by this sophomore they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here back to pass it's Wegman pressure coming unloads it fires and picked off bringing it back and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception who says defensive backs don't have hands nice job breaking on the football and making the catch a lot of times you see guys SWAT it down or you see them trying to catch it it looks like they have two left hands def defensive backs don't catch real well nice job breaking on the football nice job securing the int and actually catching [Applause] it here come the Irish back on offense they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no out too don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here catch in the middle it's Evans and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break trying to find his man on first down quick strike complete and that was some kind of collision between a couple of Big B there and he stopped from getting the first [Applause] down they keep attacking through the air and the defense will Corral the quarterback and down he goes at Midfield there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer grabbed in the middle it's Mitchell he gets the job done on third down they move the chains it's at the 37 now will throw it on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball and here comes the offense on second down looking to throw it's Leonard fires to the right and he had it for a second but it just dribbled out of his hands Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down pocket starts to collapse strong pass rush gets to the quarterback and they get him at the 46 well I think one of the biggest reasons why this team is finding themselves in a hole here in the first half is this has been a sack party they can't keep the defense off of their quarterback they haven't been able to get the ball deep down the field throwing it with the consistency they want because they can't keep their quarterback standing up straight the Irish send out the punt unit they'll look to pin him deep the punt goes out of bounds done a nice job to get them backed up I think they'll spot it right around the 15 Texas A&M has it back and we say howdy to the AGI offense again got it in the middle it's coun the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half line getting set on second down he's looking to throw finds the tight end they get him on the ground but that'll be enough to give Texas A&M a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll immediately call timeout they'll put it in play from the 27 first down he wants to throw makes the grab on the left they'll wrestle him down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one the offense waste no time getting the timeout call and they'll come to the line just needing a few chain links for a first down looking to pass on second down and the quarterback is snowed under we've got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break Ball's at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long leaves it with the running back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three the defense calls the timeout and that's their last one of the half Texas A&M will have to boot it away catches it at the 30 that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt one more play before the teams head to the locker rooms he's going to pass fires one high High inde deep and it's caught inside the 20 they finally get him stopped man oh man that he almost make a play to end this half but stopped on a touchdown saving tackle first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen what else is new a really rockus environment there in College Station and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top and with that let's send it back to the guys at Kyle Field Notre Dame will kick it off to start the second half 3rd quarter [Applause] kick fielded In The End Zone it's Allen I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 off the play fake on first down wants to throw going over the top and they can't make the connection going for a big play on first down the incompletion brings up a second down back to throw it's Wegman fires to the tight end this guy runs with some attitude discarding tacklers and works his way to the 19 I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job formt defense is about feeling out the offense and what they like to do what are they going to do in third and short third and medium third and long so far the offense is winning defense going to need to make some adjustments didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical matchup there third down from the gun wants to pass fires the pass intercepted the sudden change on the turnover man he was looking for Running Room couldn't find that but they'll have it at the 22 a really nice job by the linebacker there understanding his responsibilities in that coverage that's a cover two look there's two safeties playing deep but the linebacker knows there's nobody Underneath Him keeping him close to the line in scrimmage so he can kind of Sloat back a little bit watch the QB's eyes jump the throw and make the pick another Dame has the ball and ready to get moving and then a lowc scoring game like this one David every possession is magnifying and I think more than anything it just gets frustrating and you got to put that behind you you got to see what this defense has been doing to be so successful caller now use it against him yeah David I think for a play caller this is and the defense a got him at the 27 and you could easily argue the biggest reason this team is trailing here in the second half is because they have not been able to protect their quarterback tonight they've already given up five sacks in the game and you just saw another one right there this offensive line has had problems all night [Music] long and they don't want to waste this great field position here on Third and long looking to throw it's Leonard fires to the wide out got him down field and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and here comes the field goal unit for the second time tonight and it's no good and it is still a four-point deficit Texas A&M has it back and the offense ready to go to work the sledding has been tough scores have been at a premium Jesse in every possession seems like it could switch to and it's picked off again his night vision hasn't been on par and they capitalized not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position I love when people start to understand what we're doing defensively if they're going to pass the football and that's where they're going to live well I'm going to live in dime I'm going to bring more defensive backs on the field so I can cover more of these speed guys that they have out there great job by the defensive back breaking on the football making the int making the DC look very smart here's a quick throw out to the left and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few kept it on the ground on first down see if they stick with that plan on second he's looking to throw he lets one fly deep and the DB making a huge play knocking it away down field remember they missed a field goal on their last drive but at the very least they need to get back in field goal range here on third down and this looks disastrous oh down he goes a huge loss on that play you can just see the excitement this defense has every play they're almost just wishing this quarterback drops back to throw because they know they're going to get home to him that's the sixth time they've registered a sack Notre Dame lining up the planet away three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them [Applause] out personal foul roughing the kicker kicker [Applause] defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keeps this drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty plows ahead for a pick up of one to the 32 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine drop back it's henard finds his big tie end and he's brought down after a nice game Notre Dame coming to the line with another first down they'll go to the ground they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone looking to throw on second down touch down down Irish and that one will give him the lead and this offense gets on the board and the first passing touchdown of the season and I feel pretty confident saying the first of many this offense looks like they're in a good Rhythm and this passing attack is going to be hard to stop he'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point gives him a three-point lead at 10 to7 and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished off the coyotes were far from the friendly confines of home but were able to pull out a narrow victory in one of the biggest upsets of this college football season 60 Minutes of football and a vincing outcome and certainly a game with implications far beyond just the standings fellas Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there the play action fake got it in the middle it's Calhoun and the first guy couldn't get him but the second one does but not until he picks up the first down it's first and 10 from the 31 these routes have some reads and adaptability built in and the big fella found that cushion and made the play play man it's so awesome how much offenses have evolved they know exactly what they're getting where to sit down quarterback tight end on the same page gets the first down and the ball comes out what a disastrous play once that ball was loose offense didn't have a chance Defenders everywhere it's a turnover there is little that warms the heart of a Defender like a strip sack even better if you get the ball and I like the awareness of this defender on the play because he knew he might not actually get to the quarterback and make the hit but he was able to still SWAT away use those long arms to create the turnover fast motion from the offense comes out throwing on first down intercepted they got him down pretty quickly after the pick but now they've got it at the 15 yd line you've just seen in this game the ball has just got away from him a little bit a couple of times just hasn't been able to put it where he wants to and as a result that's now his second pick throne in this game Texas A&M has it back and we say howdy to the aie offense again they put it on the ground last time they had it got to take care of it this time David and I think you got to put in context a lot of times fumbles are just luck the expressway is wide open they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about so the officials spy that face mask penalty and the offense gets a first down wide receiver coming across in motion quick pass on the Fly motion Bulls his way forward dismisses another two and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down went to the running game on first down now here they come again dropping back it's Wegman gets it out quickly tackled after picking up the first down new set of downs after that completion they'll try the Run they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 they'll go right back to the Run tough sledding there as he picks up one to the 29 it's a makeable field goal from the 29 yd line let's see how aggressive they are on Third and long getting some heat that passes well off Target he got hit as he was trying to throw and they can't convert on third down they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down it is perfect and we are are dead even after the field goal here in the third and we're all square as he's set to kick it [Applause] away and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 here come the Irish back on offense and boy they missed an opportunity last time throwing that pick in the Red Zone David yeah and you got to put that frustration behind you you can't turn it over that's that's a Cardinal S you know better than that Jesse you can't take points off the board but you got to move on you do I I think he just got way too overeager down in in the red zone that last drive so just come out here trust your reads trust what your coaches have told you to do and just go out and next to keep the offense another incompletion and I've said that a lot and these teams are just struggling I mean the offense just doesn't know what to do nothing's working ground game Throw game it's kind of been a rock fight on both sides and the offense has found a lot of success throwing to this guy out of the slot he's done a nice job working the middle of the field winning his one-on-one matchups and this quarterback really feels a good Rhythm when he's looking his way now the play fake and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense third and long from the 42 if they can get some of it it might give them a chance to go for it on fourth down and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack goodness gracious this is a Master Class A clinic on how to get to the quarterback the seventh sack of the game are you kidding me that's a season for some teams they've lived in the back field the Irish send out the punt unit kick a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work Texas A&M has it back and the offense ready to go to work maybe they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they moved the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field goal I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that here and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for [Applause] nothing we reached the end of the third quarter and we have a potential Classic on our hands all tied up as we take a peek at the [Music] stats this is when winning plays are made and we start right now in the fourth it'll take some work to get to 4th quarter the sticks it's third and long from the 30 back to throw it's Wegman firing to the right complete he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go so the offense accepts the roughing the passer penalty and they get a new set of downs to the air on first down unloads to the wide out and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again on second down he'll let it fly throws to the wide out he strike downfield and you can see the offense just kneeling itself they've got it down to the [Applause] 21 going up top on first down snagged in the middle it's green they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground covered pick up the first a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do he'll throw on third down gets it out fast couldn't quite nudge it in not sure you could get much closer but it'll be first and goal and this offense is so close they can almost taste taking a fourth quarter touchdown Texas a&n they move on top here in the fourth follow the block the offensive L will take you to the Hallelujah land and I tell you what most of the time ree it requires a little bit of skill to find that hole and you know Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision because the blocking was outstanding ling up to add another the extra point is good and now in the fourth there're up by a touchdown and an extra point the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one [Applause] away he'll take the return try to get better field position Just Trucks through it he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 M Dame has the ball and ready to to get moving he'll come out throwing on first down fires to the big fella and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short gain it's now second down after the short completion you just get the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late and they're going to try to tackle everybody in bounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the selins you got to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field start the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty on Third and long he'll have to turn it loose deep right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it and they take another look at the play but the officials on the field were right and the play will stand they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 two the air it's Leonard and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit these fans stepping up to help this defense on third down from the gun wants to pass feeling some heat has no choice but to throw it away and it'll bring up fourth down Notre D lining up to put it away and the quarterback gets hit again we already know this defense has gotten home to him multiple times in this game so here you are you're trailing in the game defense knows you're going to throw it they're pinning their ears back you can't feel very confident right now if you're the play caller certainly if you're the quarterback that you're going to have time to throw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 he's looking to throw quick complete tackled immediately after the catch man this sophomore quarterback knew he was going to get hit and he stood in there and delivered a DI trying to move the sticks on third down through the air and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes the defense coming up big there and the sack is great but the secondary deserves some credit too no doubt when you can cover like that in the secondary and drop back in your Zone and only run a few and you feel comfortable getting home and they're going to get to the quarterback that is a great feeling and that's fun to be a defensive coordinator calling the plays the AI send out the punt team to kick it [Applause] away slips through the line he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on him here come the Irish back on offense that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass and I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going got his man downfield oh and the defense in Chase mode and they finally get him down at the 35 Notre Dame lines up [Applause] quickly wants to throw it's Leonard and he's picked off again his night vision hasn't been up to speed his third interception trying to take it back touchdown Aggie how about that D coming up with a play like that man what a play by this defense you're trying to get the ball back to your offense trying to Salt this game away and get the win not only do you create the turnover you get the touchdown now you take a two-score lead late in this ball game this defense just stepped up in a big [Applause] moment getting set for the point after and the extra point is true and they have a two two touchdown lead up 14 in the fourth let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got right guys what to update you on a game that went final moments ago the coyotes were far from the friendly confines of home but were able to pull out a narrow victory in one of the biggest upsets of this college football season the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking its woundes and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got too excited listen to this crowd just shaking the girds of this place trying to help their defense he makes the connection and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch I think if you're the head coach at this point you're telling your offense doesn't matter what's happened up this point of the game obviously things haven't gone our way but we have a chance to execute and that's a live ball behind the line oh looks like the offense was able to recover it after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 to the air it's Leonard at the 45 on it way they're able to keep him out of the The End Zone he'll be stopped at the two after the big play in the passing game that's a beautiful pass and catch I love the job the quarterback does manipulating the defense with his eyes he Froze that safety and that allowed his receiver more room to work his route first and goal and this feels like their chance to give him a finish they're going to run it and he takes it in for the score touchdown Notre Dame Notre Dame they got the score they needed but this isn't over no don't call it a comeback yet the first part step one accomplished but this offense obviously still has work to do but the defense has to go out and get a stop and get him the ball back two-point conversion attempt is on the way he'll set up to throw he makes his way in for the two and now they Trail by only six about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Texas A&M has it back and we say howdy to the aie offense again out of the shoot quick toss to the right got room at the 35 no what a move and he's brought down after a huge completion and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get it to him quickly the hard part now is running and tackling that guy not easy to do give to the back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there clock continues to run and they'll be happy to wind it all the way down before they snap it the handoff keep working on that clock he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple certain moments in the game you know are just a little bit bigger here's one of them big play coming on Third and long looking to pass it's Wegman b a little time lets it Go finds him out of the back field and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world and it's good from 58 yds out and he takes this from inside the [Applause] five Notre Dame has the ball and ready to get [Applause] moving they'll throw it on first down fires to the wide out how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion after the incompletion looking at second down he's looking to throw a connection able to work it to the 39 yd line and that'll be a first down apparently some confusion as the offense calls the timeout it's their first of the half unloads to the wide out oh what a spectacular layout and catch trying to get everybody set with the clock still running and first looking to move it through the air grabbed over the middle it's love and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and that big Gainer on the last one has him ready to go from inside the 10 looking to throw fires into the end zone this is caught for the late touchdown so let's not put this one to bed just yet and that's step one great job by this offense getting in the end zone so now you got to go get the stop you got to get the football back you got to find a way to do something to create a turnover get an onside to get the football back to get back in this football game now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer now down by two inside a minute to go if they can get this on side kick maybe they can get into field goal range and a few anxious moments but the hands team is able to fall on it Texas A&M has it back and the offense ready to go to work guys you want to be productive here and not go into a shell but you've got to take care of the ball yeah and I think you say productive re productive at this point in the game is running the clock and getting first downs so Jesse I can expect this defense to be aggressive way up near the line of scrimmage bringing a bunch of bodies trying to stop the roll and that's why it puts a lot of pressure on an offense David because you know if you do try to throw the football it's probably man coverage probably getting Blitz it's going to be into a small window it is not easy to execute in this situation of the game quarterback takes a knee a disappointing start to this season as they open o and one tough way to start but you see it so many times throughout a season people start slow figure out who they are get better as the season goes on and your dreams still very much ahead of and the sky not falling right now you're just 0 in one there's no need to panic you don't have to try and reinvent the wheel what you got to do is go back you got to watch the film you got to be honest with yourselves where could you have made better plays you got to limit the penalties you got to limit mistakes this team is talented they've still got a lot
