the election I can't tell you how much I want to to win prge sister election uh let's get into this evening's issue issue one the manufactured crisis and health was funded by borrowed tax cuts can National get away with it issue to the government's war on continues when is too much redneck policy too much issue three is the economy in worse condition the market currently recognizes an issue for latest T drama inside the greens who will rid me of this turbulent electric bike priest plus we'll have a final word at the end of the show where each panelist can sound off to see who will breach broadcasting cons standards this week it will be hooton screaming about the Communists in Wellington again you all know it let's kick things off tonight with issue one Decades of under funding a botched organizational reform massive immigration of skilled staff to Australia Co and the usual winter flu cases have morphed into a systematic systemic crisis in the health system which is overwhelming the new government and they try and sell a manufactured funding crisis into a justification for more J job cuts and privatization that's $12 tax cut per week the majority of kiwis are getting and that won't cover the extra $80 a week in the costs the government are not funding Damian National claim $250 per week tax cuts when they really mean $12 a week for majority will voters feel that $12 which cost a borrowed 14 billion is a great deal now they see Public Health falling over well Public Health has been falling over for multiple Generations so I don't see that and and the linking of the two of them doesn't make any sense the the health system in New Zealand is not underfunded the health system system in New Zealand is mismanaged Fout question turns out the sweetheart deal for tobacco which taxpayers Union former pimp Casey Castello cut will cost almost a quarter of a billion dollars is giving big tobacco $216 million while public health is in a crisis anything other than an unjustifiable abomination of public policy how is how is Big tobacco getting $260 million that's for the 50% in uh uh tax cut that KC got for the heated tobacco Pro uh products that she got through last week it will cost 216 million um I okay I don't see what that's got to do with the public health system this government has increased funding to the health system quite substantially the health system has got what 90,000 staff it's churning through $30 billion a year it's there is not a it is not an issue of funding what you have is like with everything else from the Indian Railways to any government organization anywhere it's an a massively funded government organization that doesn't work Maria in the budget National allocated just 2.9% increases to Health Services but inflation was 3.3 and population growth 2.6 while an aging population adds more to costs meaning we need 8% to keep up can National keep pretending this manufactured crisis isn't a manufactured crisis I don't know quite what you mean by Manu factured it's definitely a crisis and it definitely way predates the sacking of the board of Tatu orur who were half gone anyway as Rob Campbell has pointed out I think that we do need more funding I I do think it's underfunded the the thing is it just keeps growing every year because there's new drugs there's new procedures um we have an aging population so it just it keeps burgeoning yes uh but yes it is unfunded otherwise why would we have doctor shortages why would we have nurse shortages why would we have waiting lists you know either the funding is not going to the right places which you know is arguably one of the problems they have but but probably The Wider point is more funding just literally more funding needs to go into it so let's just pick up on that what what what are you saying about 2.9% extra funding for health so all all they allocated all the National Party allocated was a 2.9% increase but inflation was 3.3 and we had population growth as as well the health the health spending in the last Financial year was 26.7 billion and the current budget is 29.6 billion that's a nearly 3 billion that's about a 10% increase on Grant Robinson's last budget so where are you getting the 2.9% from and as you know well that's that's how much they put into that was the extra amount they put in but as you they put in3 billion but you also but you also know from last week's Show with Craig reny that a big chunk of that three billion was just paying out the agree par costs for nurses right so so the vast majority of that money hasn't actually been properly allocated that may may not be the case but you can't go around and saying they're putting in 2.9% when they're putting in 10% can you because they've gone from 26 billion to 29 billion that's a $3 billion increase and to to to Maria's point the it doesn't we could double the health budget you're not going to solve the problems the problem is we don't have enough we don't have enough nurses we do train doctors we do train nurses they disappear off to to foreign um quarters we then go and import doctors from um other countries so so so essentially um you know third world countries are spending their hard resources training doctors over there and then we go we go and Nick them this is not an issue of funding the health system you we need to put the health we need to introduce Market dis into a health system otherwise don't we need to introduce don't we need to introduce a proper increase in spending each year to keep up with the population that's the surely the problem but but Martin they did they put an extra $3 billion more than what gr Rob has I'm saying it wasn't no no no before you said it was 2.9% you just I will I will come back with those numbers next week uh Maria followup question the meaningless tax cuts the majority of kiwis will get were funded by borrowing and slashing Public Services when the cost of all the unfunded things National have pushed to added together people are worse off each week will voters feel deceived and let down by this government they're getting they're getting they're getting $12 in hand but it's costing them 80 a week I don't know that the average person on the street looks it that way I think they will be a bit underwhelmed by $12 whatever it is a week but I guess the thing is that every little bit helps everything that makes things just ever so slightly easier I mean we're all just hanging out for interest rates to come down that's why everyone's fixing that's why everyone's fixing for their mortgages for six months because they're just on teer hooks waiting for them to to come down uh so I don't I don't know that the average person thinks a bit you doesn't sort of calculate it in that way just going back though to your point about the um breaks on um smokeless tobacco for example I don't know what the government's doing with this because have they got some really good tobacco lobbyists hanging out in Wellington I don't know because the thing is the the company I think it's Philip Morris that makes that smokeless tobacco product they have a monopoly in this country so why why on God's green earth would they want to pass on that tax cut to uh their customers who apparently will benefit from this product because it's better than um you know smokes I I don't I don't understand I don't understand their tobacco policy Matthew I can okay please Matthew yeah yeah well someone gave a donation a big donation and then they said and they said here's the policy there we go yeah they CAU it thank you thank you Matthew your good friend prime minister Christopher luxum claims that there are 15 levels of management for health was he meaning his social media team or is he seriously claiming 14 levels of management and will appointing a new level of management and four subsections of management cut back on that management management well I mean what he said obviously wasn't true sure sure I mean if if what do you mean it wasn't true well are you calling him a liar the Prime Minister wasn't able to explain where the 14 managers were it was clearly not true and that would have been obvious to any normal person sure but the prim Minister however if noral if you have I mean if if they each had an average of two direct reports two to the power of 14 as anyone who's done High you know would know that's about 16,000 people but if they had three direct reports then that would mean there'd be 5 million people rough in level 14 of the health system which wow almost the entire country don't forget a lot of those would have been nurses and they don't count as a full person cuz they're woman is this like theal colge I mean I mean look I mean if if if everyone had an average of 4 reports then it' be quarter of a billion people working at level 40 in the so obviously it wasn't true but I think that calling him a liar is is a bit is a bit is a bit rough okay I don't think I did h said he was a liar well you know Damian seemed to suggest he might have been lying or something but no I said he said a statement that wasn't true well I just I don't think lying is the right way of thinking about Christopher right what is the right way of think about Christopher well it's like I mean if if if there's a person of very low intelligence I mean people I think in the past if they had an IQ under 70 they were described by doctors as an idiot or an imbecile people like that that sure or or any creature very low think say Moss well no parrot a parot let say a parrot a parrot a parrot I mean when a parrot says something like Polly want a cracker Polly wants a cracker exactly exactly I don't think it's meant to be I don't think it's meant to be understood that that's literally the parrot expressing a desire for a cracker I think that it's and it's it's just it's a combination of sounds and and and I think it's the same with the Prime Minister when and what the sounds that come from his mouth shouldn't be thought of as answers just expressions of but when you talk to normal people people IQ 80 say or above like when I'm talking to you sure sure when when people are saying sounds coming to their mouth that that represents some thoughts against which you can sort of assign a truth value right but I I just I don't think it's fair to do that to Christopher okay to those not the right way of of you wouldn't sort of say the parrot was lying when it said po wants a cracker would you you wouldn't and so it's so I I just think when people say he was lying it's ridiculous followup question you have been highly critical of this government's borrowing $14 billion for tax cuts and yet they've done it did your good friend prime minister Christopher luxen get this one right and you're wrong do you support borrowing the 14 billion for tax cuts now well well I don't think he I mean if look if Christopher if Nicola Willis says tax cuts aren't inflationary say or Chris Bishop then obviously they're lying sure that's fine they know that what they're saying is not true right but again when it's when it's Christopher I don't think I don't think lying is the right way of of us of of describing Polly wants a tax c yeah so but ironically I mean I don't know if Christopher thought the of course he didn't think it's true but it's possible it's possible that with the state the economy is in yes the tax cuts he promised in in February 2022 will have a positive stimulatory effect um in the economy right now um just as we need I mean it will mean interest rates will stay higher for for a bit longer which is you know obviously sad for some people who didn't fix their mortgage 2.69 for five years ago right okay but everybody else everybody else screws yeah it's difficult for other people it mean but but they will get that $1250 um a week sure okay uh quick round as Minister for tobacco interests is Casey Costello more powerful than the health Minister Shane R Damen Grant no silly idea no Maria really okay oh I should think so right yes of course I don't I mean I don't think at the moment I think that um I don't think Shane R is really in control of events in the health portfolio I think that the Finance Minister and others have taking those responsibilities off his hands and he's just adding his name is being put on the Press statements um but Casey Castell has I mean she's this government promised delivery she has delivered she has delivered for that big toac the tax C I mean not for Philip moris for the users of their product sure sure sure sure what happened to the the lobbying company Senate they say suddenly vanished oh it's an awful business isn't it my heart goes out uh 7 78% of those online said that um Cas Castell was more powerful than the health Minister Shane why what what happened to Senate well senate senate had an excellent business model that quite frankly I yeah I only managed to do it once or twice with once with tpk and another time with the cross earthquake recovery Authority what they do is they embed their people that they're paying s of 7080 $90,000 a year and they charge them out $200 an hour and it's it's it's 40 hours a week so they had people embedded in for example the Comm commission um assisting the 17 strong PR firm of the Commerce Commission they there were people from Senate who were there fulltime yes and I I think with um I mean even this government with its weak pathetic approach to trimming fat I think that type of fat was obvious enough that even this government cut that was the byebye Senate comrades let's just say a heart goes out to one concern comrades we must move on to issue two the government's war on Marty continues this week with moves against Marty Wards preparing the race baiting treaty principles referendum and general [ __ ] on anything Marty the right have used Marty as a political punching bag to win the election but this time round will inadvertently start a race war while claiming to be protecting democracy when is too much redneck policy too much Maria uh Marty Wards are an extension of our Democratic infrastructure allowing Marty a voice at a community level yet the right have portrayed this as a bastardization of Westminster democracy that will see the end of Western Civilization as we know it why are cracker redneck so focused on cementing into place 19th century white settler privilege by denigrating the treaty thoughts yeah it's a mystery to me actually why people get so upset about that kind of thing why people get so upset about the use of Mari place names or names of government departments I me you know kangura it's just kangora it's just what we call it now what's the what's the issue and this this bill of course that's just passed um now requiring that you must have a vote if you are going to have Mari Wards and your councils and those that already have them are going to have to get rid of them and and start from scratch and have a poll it's ludicrous because obviously there's great chunks of um you know rednecks for one of a better word out there who will vote against um because they don't like a minority having a say so you're never going to get it ped so right so how do you then let the minority have a say it's it's how do you let a minority have a say in a democratic process it's a it's it's it's a conundrum because I mean without have worked on that without without Mari Woods of course I mean they're not allowed to vote I mean we're back to the Civil Rights era in the 1950s I mean that's that's a nonsense Maria they are allowed to vote but they are allowed to vote they're allowed to vote and the idea that that that we that um in order for Mari to have a vote they have to vote in racially segregated Wards why don't we have a ward for for Chinese people why don't we have a ward for but it is it's totally that it's getting someone on a council that you feel more fairly represents your interests we we have the Mari seats in Parliament I always thought Oakland council's setup was I was always quite against it actually the way that we have the Mari Representatives who are appointed and not voted in that was because um Rodney Haider at the time I think he was local government Minister when the super city was was constructed he wouldn't allow marry Wards and so we ended up with this sort of hybrid model of the mar representatives and I was always de against that cuz I thought why have we got people who are not actually elected making decisions in Council or having an influence on decisions in Council I would have preferred to see people vote for a marry representative now with what's happened with this bill being passed it turns out Orland was quite smart because I don't I don't know that they can get rid of those Representatives I could be wrong someone correct me if I am but so at least oand gets to keep its Representatives I suppose but I I I just think it's entirely fair that um uh the tongue ofena who were here first who are an equal partner in the treaty should have the opportunity to have people representing their views in our Democratic institutions but but the response to that is not everybody believes that the treaty is a partnership and that is one of the issues that David seor is pushing pretty hard the the idea of a treaty as a partnership goes back to 1975 that wasn't an issue before that that was that is something that has been created and and there are a lot of people myself included who think the idea of assigning separate political um rights bad they're not right correct but but but we are putting people in different categories based on their race and I think that is we're not they have a choice don't have to no they they don't but I couldn't go and sign up for the marry war no but you can't vote in the otar electorate either because you don't live there but that but that's those are those are not comparable um pieces of analysis we are we are saying they're arbitary we are lines are drawn on a map and these people can vote here and these people can vote there those lines those lines are not drawn up by race and we the issue that I think that we're going to confront as a nation I think that that we are we are refusing to confront is that we are the idea that the treaty is a partnership we are saying that there is Pia our rights and they a tongue of defend well they're not tongue of defend a tongue of the treaty right so we we are saying that there are separate political structures set up based on the on on your DNA on your blood and I think that is that is going to result in very bad outcomes and I challenge you to point to anywhere in the world where you are separating people politically or in any other way based on their on their race where you get a positive outcome I think I think the ship is sailed I think we're going to go there we won't we won't start on Israel then obvious yeah of course let's go start Israel that's right where everything just suddenly gets Tipsy bloody tury for their but that is but that is a that is a that is that is an excellent example because in Israel in Israel really you are are you are allowed to vote is based on your citizens you know what I reckon the problem with all these issues are let me too many white people um no is is is the obsession on them like it can't it can't possibly matter one way or the other um whether there are marry Wards and local government or not um local government has no power uh certainly the elected representatives have absolutely no control so whether or not it however these people are elected can't matter but what I think happens is on one hand about you know 3 4% of the population let's call them the mai radical are obsessed about this issue and then at the other end of the spectrum there are 3% or so of the population who are Pary who aren't just opposed to these things but see them as somehow the number one and most risky and dangerous issue facing New Zealand and they are just as insane quite frankly as the so-called Mar radicals I've always found the people make any difference I've always found the people to get really worked up about it can't actually name any of the counselors on the wards um Maria followup question former race relations conciliator Susan devoy lamented last year that some culture War boomers are so reactionary racist that the best we can hope for is that they don't die off I know I was quite Amazed by that statement either are we really only going to advance race relations when the racist Boomers die off is that our hope let it help yeah it'll help it'll help yeah I just can I just I think I find it quite interesting the the names thing just going back to the names thing for example I I always think that you should choose a name that's the most appropriate for something like I quite like the mai name for the reserved Bank um T mat I think uh my memory is not so good I think I'm correct which basically means that manager of the money which is what they do so you know I just don't understand what people's problem is with language why can you not just think a little bit laterally and think that maybe some of these some of these names might be better they might be more descriptive than Matthew because Christopher luxon is the weakest prime minister in New Zealand history he can't reign in the extreme race baiting of act on New Zealand first is National dragging race relations backwards no I think all this is a complete compl Sideshow mhm um on all sides I think um the treaty principles bill is is an irrelevance um as I said I don't give stuff about I'm a local government abolitionist so it doesn't you're that much of a nihilist Ian I like I'm a central government abolition well I like this I like the Swiss system if we're going to have it where and you know it'll be 200 people making decisions for their own neighbor but anyway you know we Face the most profound problems um we have I mean forget it doesn't matter what a billion here a billion there currently in the health system this is completely irrelevant compared with the demographic and health technology disaster that's going to is hting uh that we've known about for 20 years the treasur has been warning us for 20 years when you follow the um Health spending um line it follows almost exactly what the treasury was saying 20 years ago all the politicians say oh no no politician would ever let things get that bad and you just say but you are you you have for 20 years you have you you haven't listened to the warnings we've got our middle class leaving to be um replaced by um people with uh lower uh skills for a modern economy um if I Mai that is the number one issue for Mai they will be replaced by um Indian Uber drivers there'll be more Indian U Indian and Filipino Uber drivers than the armari very soon um I mean that somewhat poetically but we don't have a tax base our productivity never improves we these are the issues that matter and I consider all these other things are complete distraction follow question as the census proves 20% of New Zealand is mildy and one in three are under 25 the age of the redneck settler Boomers is coming to an end is the problem that no one wants to [ __ ] rednecks does the right need a new condom free Tinder where they can meet and breed because the problem seems to be social I think there's plenty of w Baby Boomers in Grayland I I I don't see I mean look there's there's many reasons to be against the Boomers and we'll never forgive jinda for saving them but you know this this is a this do some polls on on you know climate change Treaty of why Tangy these are not even they don't even get 3% 4% um people being concerned about them they dominate so much of the media narrative and mostly these issues are completely irrelevant to the real world the forer and cish I see we're going to have a fight about that's not going to make any difference one way or the other what's happening in that Dam your beloved act are calling for teat order to dump kakia in meetings what sort of easily triggered cross burning banjo twanging redneck cracker gets offended by caria in tat Aura meetings who isn't kakir a prayer that's correct it is it's a prayer well I mean what if you are believe in another religion and you don't want to sit through a car here I don't think they should have I mean I think the entire government Department should be scrapped um and given that most of these meetings are massively unproductive the more time they spend in pair probably the better the entire but I mean it's that that misses the point the the what that what the point is that what does it say about that organization that that's what they want to do party the you you are there as a public servant to achieve an outcome for your constituents and you want to sit there and and don't be of course there I agree that was my that was that was my you're going to the left you are heading to the left I want to speak true rightwing perspective why do you care about this that whole organization completely pointless that's what I said yeah there is a massive but then but then you then you have bothered to have further thoughts about this matter um oh what if someone doesn't want to do a care well they can pray in [ __ ] Islam in in in in Arabic if they want dam is defending party Daman is defending in Latin because they're a Catholic who cares question the point the point the point of my state there is no point to it was that the fact that the these public servants are engaged in this sort of stuff is demonstrating your point that they're not engag in whatever it is that the the entire government Department should just be shut isn't it race baiting by isn't it R exactly so my question for for for people for Daman is yes given that is what act should be focused on yes the privatization of the health system and shutting down Health New Zealand that is what I expect that is why I vote for act that is why didn't make money to act for them to focus on those things why are they wasting political capital and time on whether car here which is not compulsory is occurring in the government Department that shouldn't exist anyway why am IAM sorry can we just come back and said always saying that the the um Act is moving to stop this government Department from saying that's right that's exactly they being racist and they are attacking Kia in um tat Ora they've called for it to be dumped I'm uh I'm not over the this particular thing but um I I don't they send you out an email just to point I don't I I I would have thought that government Department should be secular I don't think that should be a controversial okay okay no's he's my followup question he's my follow I'm not emotionally invested so why doesn't the ACT party call for an end to the pray in Parliament I mean if it's such a bloody problem when it's spoken in too oh that must be shut down yet the prayer in Parliament happens every [ __ ] week and there's no I haven't act have said nothing about that so when Marty say it that's what and that's the whole point it's just another example of using Marty as a political punching bag isn't it um sure whatever it's not an issue that I'm particular it is though and and and and is the other issue that is associated of this is the public service in Wellington must be butchered has to be absolutely butchered can I just ask who's going to run the Health Service not just the sub not just one of these 14 apparently nobody's running it now should Beed so the government has abolished how many one one government Department AB by the naal government the Mari health authority whatever it was called I don't care what it's called didn't they get rid of the productivity commission yes they did but they rep replaced it with something else so the only the only the only government Department that has been completely abolished as it should have been I'm I'm fully supportive of the Mari health authority right now I can then understand why if you were a Mari person particularly if you're from the political right you'd think why is it that our that thing pointless as it is was abolished yet the tertiary education commission continues to exist nzte continues to exist the walking access commission continues to exist and it isn't difficult to understand why somebody might perceive that there is a racial element to that decision comrades we must get a word from our sponsor our sponsor is gravity and credit managements uh I was doing lines of cocaine with Andrew Kingston the other day and he was he was on fire let me tell you he was saying goodness gracious me the amount of work that he's getting out of the working group is um is keeping him busy uh gravity cter management is in the business of third party deich and Andrew Kingson does not do uh cocaine um sadly uh what he does do is's far too focused on getting money far to focused on getting money what he is very good at however is going out there and collecting for you money from reluctant and recul dettor so if you have got people at 60 90 12 days call Andrew on 800g gravity or go to gravity credit.co and Andrew Kingston will help you out you know I was thinking about Andrew K gravity Credit Management yesterday and I I tell us unusually I didn't I didn't think of him in terms of comparing him with somebody else but I just not Jesus no no he there are parallels with Jesus blood out of a stone and that sort of thing it was when I heard the terrible news about Senate I thought if only they had called Andrew Kingston of gravity Credit Management a bit earlier they may not have gone out of business not that anyone takes pleasure of that comrades we must move on to issue three there are increasing warning signs that the unemployment number is about to blow up as data shows a 5.4% rise in cost of living with insurance rate and mortgage repayments decimating people's spending power the economy is sliding and inflation declining because economic activity is imploding a $12 a week tax cut will seem like just cinder's kindness during Co Matthew Chinese growth was forecast at 5.1 but came in at 4.7 trade is slowed down and the lack of vision is Hing confidence bing up on Mai won't solve those economic problems will they well um things are absolutely terrible um and if we had a stats Department that was um I never advocate for government departments getting more money but once we've abolished all those other places we need to fund stats New Zealand so does a monthly inflation um series yes uh and if it did um then I think we'd be looking at um interest rate Cuts almost in in probably this month um and the but the last you know problem I guess is whether the tax cuts will be inflationary and uh we'll we're yet to see that the government is hoping that people will use those $1250 a month a week or whatever it is to pay off their mortgage faster I don't know if the banks terribly keen on that because if people are fixed mortgages the banks often don't let you increase your pay anyway the bank the government says look as long as everybody uses their tax cuts to pay off debt um particularly debt held by foreigners then they won't be um inflationary and probably the Bank should cut interest rates immediately but alas I just can't see that happening Daman as a liquidator you're at the Forefront of late stage capitalism what insights do you have this week on the economy from the front line please I don't have any insights necessary from the front line I can say that those of us in the inance industry um are picking up and most of us are are looking for for new staff um but is it interesting you're talking about stat New Zealand I mean the the recent data um it's not that interesting is it no well says that the total number of employment has actually gone down by 0.1% which doesn't seem like a lot but the population has gone up in that in that period uh and so what what you're seeing is the growing population in a and a static Workforce and so all of the the demographic issues you were talking about before we've got a we've got an aging Workforce we've got a whole bunch of people who um are not currently working and we have a very static pool of people to actually fund all this thing the numbers just don't work I mean there is a there is a a problem here but just in terms Matthew you're talking about um um monthly data there is a a GDP live Messa University it's excellent yeah so GDP live.net uh and they they do have some um that's that's excellent and it's much cheaper than stats New Zealand in fact it's free to members of the public Maria as a business journalist how bad it is out there in the economy right now I was talking to the CEO of stride uh the commercial publicly listed commercial property company a couple of weeks back they have about something like 1,00 odd business tenants and uh he's out talking to them all the time or a staff are he said in the in the past um three or four months think things have got a lot worse than the Reserve Bank seems to think they are really um and he believes we're at the point of you know risking doing long-term damage to the economy because they've gone too far for too long um and yeah it it I I actually totally agree with Matthew I think monthly inflation reporting would uh go a long way to getting a much clearer picture of where the economy is the numbers they work on they lag so far behind and I really do think that that us you know those of us that are sort of out there talking to business people and stuff you know we've known for ages that that it's a bit worse than than the wallers and Wellington seem to think it is and yeah I I would like to see them cut next month too but again I don't think it's going to happen and they were too slow to to increase interest rates for the same reason so look I can't I can't believe the two of you I mean the the Oracle of Adrian or does not make these sorts of mistakes you know I mean he is so good he is so good he started cutting the OCR and running a stimulatory monetary policy even before Co hit that's how far that's how brilliant that's how how farsighted he is that man not only can he see a donut from the other side of the cafeteria he can see into the economic future I will hear nothing just scrap quick to you all newal use the money for much needed tax cuts quick survive till 2025 why what gets better in 2025 if Trump wins and puts 10% tariffs on everything Damen Grant so what survived 2025 the whole the whole vibe is survived 20 till 202 20 2025 but what happens if geopolitical situations occur and there isn't much to wait around for oh look I don't care I I am just killing it right now I am just I am knocking it out of the park we are we are hitting the numbers we are currently looking for three additional staff members J so particularly at the moment we're looking for lawyers so people that have got um philosophy experience no experience we in the Commerce Commission internal comps because some of them looking for jobs uh survived till 2025 why well because people expect that um we'll be waiting until at least November or the new year for the interest rate cut to happen um there'll then be a lag for example in the um residential construction industry there's such a surplus of cheap properties empty cheap properties it'll be at least a year before even when demand for housing comes back up that they be sold for them to be sold to be reinvested in new um projects so um it really is more like survive till um 26 for a lot of people5 is just a slogan isn't it no I think Matthew's right I think as I said before people are hanging out for the interest rate cuts which they're desperately hoping will happen uh but even then I mean it's it's going to happen slowly isn't it that they're not going to suddenly you know drop the OCR by sort of you know 200 basis points no no something's gone terribly wrong in the meantime though I think we need to Stage an intervention with Daman and Adrien or we need to like just you know have a a sort of a kumb kind of bringing together and you know get them to talk to each other see each other as people I would I I would if Adrian or wants to come on the podcast you know we will always find a spot for him I would I would love to interview Adrian come on Adrian you know you want to comrades we must move on to issue for I want he's not going to come on there he hates you he hates you did you see that interview with medicon reading that was so funny so you could just see Adrian sitting there saying ah this silly little woman I can I can deal with this whatever she'll be and then he takes her in and he shows her his etchings or whatever the hell it was and then Madison R had done her homework she sits in there old J and nice and yes and Tu of full Lo and then just smashes him again and again and again that was the most beautiful piece of Journalism I have ever seen folks we need to move on to Issue four latest T drum inside the green says an identity politics faction claim the greens aren't culturally safe for brown woman as Chloe continues to steer down darene tarma who in turn announce their pronouns as they and them I'm not kidding it's like they're trying to outwalk each other it's like a showdown at the wok Corral nice the working group come for the political Insight stay for the word play ladies and gentlemen uh the green leadership is asking who will rid me of this turbulent electric bike priest Damian oh Jesus um I found the use of ao's memory to try and justify this tantrum is actually quite disgusting uh the green leadership have been were decimated when when aeso passed they have listened to ao's family for this faction to grab on to that and hold it up and to you know I I I knew f for 30 years I know he would not want his memory was your 50th he was he was he was he was it you reap what you sow I mean they they are so deep into the identity politics and they have absolutely and utterly abrogated promoting people on Talent they they believe that there is something special about you because of your [ __ ] Papa because of your heritage this is the world that they want they can suck it up Maria the opposition to the Walker jumping legislation from the greens was the idea a party could throw an imp out for having a conscientious objection to party policy but that's not the case here at all darene has been asked to leave base on a review that found her link to allegations around exploiting migrant labor she's refusing to leave should the greens expel her and how do you think Chloe's handled it the greens need to grow up here and they may do yet judging by some of the um you know Vox sexist [Laughter] but you can say it we can't we can't but you can yeah isn't it nice being the exactly the only even James there's nothing like the greens to over democratize everything and now it's got to go to a vote and i' sincerely hope they do vote to and vot the Walker jumping legislation but honestly as you say this is not the same situation as Rod Donald and Janette fit Simons were in all those years ago you know they're not standing for a cause here they they're getting rid of well they should be getting rid of a person who's caused no end of grief who has made a mockery of the Parliamentary process right and needs to go Matthew you once tricked an entire faction of the greens to start a coup against James Shaw without any follow-up plan and then dump them like a bay of vegan pigs have they managed to best that self muttil with this new self mutilation well I think that um they need to pay a penalty for this and so I don't think they should be allowed to or shouldn't invoke the um Walker jumping law I mean there is the argument for proportionality that's right um however and then there are people who leave for conscience but our parties have to do a hell of a lot better at fetting people hell of a lot better every single one of them has bought in profoundly unsuitable people it's only a parliament of 120 it's not as as big as the UK Parliament we seem to have at least as many across all parties hopeless people crooked people um dis you know just terrible people across all the parties and it seems to me that if parties are going to be able to say oh [ __ ] you know we didn't vet this person properly it turns out they're dodgy and we've now done this report that's found out their dodgy GE shouldn't we have done that before the election what a shame what we'll get is they'll be get even slacker because they can just kick these people out get a new one in and I think um I know you know the greens would lose money if if Darlene whatever her name is stays there um whatever their name is I should say my apologies yes um it seems to me that she should they should sit there in Parliament and the as a way of saying to the greens and all the parties in don't [ __ ] up in the 2026 elections don't get people like this in your party um and if they don't pay a price why would anyone care quick round will greens use walker jumping legislation to push darene out Damen gr my indifference is total Maria I'm thinking they might yeah I think they will Matthew 88% of those online say yeah they will comrades we need to WRA the the final show with a final word Damian your final word this week is please sir I just want to have a quiet reflection on our friends in the United States um the selection that they are facing between Trump and Harris uh the United States has got much bigger issues they and the thing that worries me most about the United States is their complete inability to get any sort of fiscal discipline they I think the last time they ran a balanced budget was under Bill Clinton so God don't knows how many years ago that is the United States would appear to be uh an Empire and possibly terminal Decline and as somebody who loves the United States even though as they find individual Americans deeply unpleasant and difficult to deal with I think it's uh it's a shame I think we are living potentially in a post Pax Americana uh era and I'm not entirely to sure what comes next thank you Maria your uh final word this week please I'm going to have a go at Damian's beloved act party oh God I think that I like Brook vanon I admire her in many ways but I think she's being naive and idealistic with this this proposal to get rid of contractor's ability to challenge their employment status yeah the so-called section six um cases that that you know number of them have been brought and one successfully uh you know cases in which people like couriers are being exploited effectively yeah uh this is a huge problem across our Workforce uh cuers Uber drivers sex workers um strippers they were you know presenting a a petition to Parliament the other day I think if they are going to change the law in this manner there's got to be something else that comes with it don't just remove this right bring in some other protections or framework around um the the Casual Workforce you know the law was written back before we had Uber and those kinds of um gig economy you know players we did have strippers though didn't we I believe we did yeah but I think there needs to be a much wider thinking going on around how you provide protections for people who who you know they want to work as contract workers you know I I've done a lot of stories with The Courier industry and spoken to their representatives and they don't want to become employees but they want basic protections so I'm thinking I would like to see the ACT party do some better thinking around this Matthew your final word this week please sir I've been thinking about poor old um Chris in the labor party and things are going to get a lot harder for them because the economy is um going to reach its worst point and then interest rates are going to be cut and unemployment will Peak and start falling and house prices they you know they're going to stay they're falling probably this year but they'll start to go up again uh and off a terrible base and without any um Improvement in the long-term Outlook things in New Zealand are going to feel better and next year and certainly an election year and if the labor party thinks that um they will just come back to Power because Chris Christopher has the problems we've been talking about and and that and that the government has no program they're wrong um and this often happens people they think they should be the government they think the new government's illegitimate and they think they can just Cruise currently they had their Norman Kirk and Jinder Adan very popular charismatic stupid useless she left and then Wallace rolling has replaced her in Chris Hipkins and I just can't I you know they they put Wallace up in um 78 again in 81 and they lost to moldun by the rules as they were twice in a row similarly when they lost John Key they put in goof and I just think Hipkins is starting to feel that he's one of those uh and yet there is some talent in um in that party if you um carel seone is a talented person um Barbara Edmunds is a very very talented person um you think if even Willie Jackson in his own way has things to offer and if labor does want to try and get rid of this government um the worst we've got the worst government in New Zealand's history so they should try and get rid of it even though that'd be worse again um I think they've got some serious thinking to do you're starting the coup against chippy tonight oh no no it's not going to start no no no it's not starting now oh you kicked it off earlier no no no it's not till it's probably not till um next year okay okay we'll do we'll talk there we'll work out who we want to lead the labor party Damian uh we would we would uh before uh B descends into um Madness we would just like to thank Maria for coming on if we should thank her she's done a great job she's amazing the why that they preferred Maria she won she won I'm I'm really going to have to examine my choices aren I exactly exactly uh if you like what maray has had to say you can catch Maria at business disk you will need a separate subscription I think for business disk and you will to to uh Matthew hon but you can uh read Maria's work at business desk you can get her free Records On it Slade Iving uh if you like what Matthew hooton has had to say you can catch a him at nzme also with a paid subscription and if you really like what he's got to say you can pay him to say whatever you want him to say for a very reasonable fee and you can contact him uh directly or indirectly and if you don't know how to contact him can't you can't afford the bill Martin take it away thank you comrades to my final word this week news last week that the king cobras had been patched over to the common churros is a dangerous escalation in the New Zealand drug scene that will see a tsunami of cheaper and more hitting the streets of Oakland by christmasing Acquisitions the New Zealand under activity in the economy the New Zealand underworld has been hit with an unprecedented event and that is the forc deportation of thousands of 501 Australians who were brought with them a level of violence and criminal sophistication far in excess of the domestic gangs these 501s have brought in new meth contacts from South Americans cartels that sell a cheaper more pure product of the imported math that the alpha domestic gangs like the head hunters ship in Via their Triad contacts the Head Hunters Run The Docks and the KC's run the airports and what the commos just did by patching over the KC's is gain an airbridge with South America this is the mechanics of meth profits at work this is an industry all those drive by shooting you see are for drug debts and all the killings of 501 syndicates taking over from the less violent domestic gangs the most dangerous part of this involvement of chi the most dangerous part of this is the involvement of Chinese gry Zone mandated Shadow banking that allows mirror banking services for 501 syndicates to directly pay South American cartels that's why the military boot camps and banning the gang patches tough on crime posturing from this government is such [ __ ] we have Narco State actors deploying counterintelligence tactics in Sleepy old New Zealand it's like the nasal have set up a stall at the sh's
