honeyy gosh almighty who the heck are they hey Flim Flam BIM Bam Old Miss by golly and welcome to Ving way Stadium where the rebels are ready to take the field little gets the blood boiling quite like a rivalry game barbs shots trash talk things that go on throughout the week will now all be settled on this field as we'll see a squad from the SEC the Mississippi State Bulldogs taking on the fifth ranked team of the land the Old Miss Rebels for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going and the rebels will kick it away to start on the move from inside is five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 so Mississippi State offense will get the first possession of the game the trophy might look like an egg but you better not be fragile you better have a hard shell if you're going to come out in this one guy and the three of us have called this game in the past we've been in the stadiums we've felt the hate between Mississippi and Mississippi State right David it's real man it it's so cool to see it's so important to both sides handling the emotion early will be a big deal after the productive first down play it's second and six touch pass on the r smashes through After Burner coming and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop how many ways can I make you think right first drive out the gates get it to my playmaker going full speed across the formation with a touch pass you better be able to adjust to then when you adjust to it I'm going to have an adjustment to your adjustment because I'm always right I'm an offensive G on the ground it's Boo and how about that play by that giant that mountain of a man on the defensive front so many Rich layers in this one Dak coming off the bench fumbles in the end zone to lose it legs being hyped coaches being fired this has it all guys man such proud people in the state of Mississippi that love their football and it feels like Palmer these games always come down to something at the end of the game that's so fun and controversial what I love about this rivalry too is that historically there hasn't been a lot of conference Championship implications or national title implications but they play this game at the very end of the year and it just matters so much in the state bragging rights for an entire season on the line on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack and they didn't have to Blitz they brought in the dime package more speed on the field so we can cover in the back end and then let the dline do what great dline [Music] do Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter they'll get down and put a stop to the return at about the 28 yd line so the Old Miss Rebels offense will get the ball for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays and they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football Rebels took home the golden egg and eight close one the last time they met they don't care if it was closer a blow they got the W and they've been able to talk about it all off seon long and you can just feel the energy and electricity this year well and you know it matters you're talking about all these kids in state talking to them where do you want to go which side do you want to be on only Miss winning last year matters when it comes to recruiting works his way to the 38 after gaining five well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play they get just enough to keep the drive alive the rebels come to the line in the hurry up they'll run the toss they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the head coach told us in pregame he liked the way his defensive speed matched up and it's really hard to get the edge against these guys yeah and everybody wants to run outside and get their fast guys in space but you look at how fast these backers close and run the football it looks like you've got a little bit of space out wide and then boom it's gone in a hurry they move the tight end all over out of the gun the inside handoff looking for a crease he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple great team defense on that run play everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ons D linemen staying in their gaps linebackers and DBS filling you just can't do it better third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a DE if they can pull it off back to throw it's Dart unloads to the wide out right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver can get it and listen the defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they are able to cover him throughout the rest of this game they go to the ground we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up well man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down keep it on the ground and this one will be stopped for No Gain that's a great individual play and I love cornerbacks that don't just take pride in covering guys I like guys that like to put their face in the fan and affect the running game this dude is physical and he impacts the defense because of that and those guys are really hard to find a lot of Corners they're smaller they don't want any part of the physical run game nice job sticking his face in there setting the Edge making the tackle fires to the wide out wide open downfield and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play man this offense is so dangerous re they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels and the rebels want to crank the tempo the give on the inside they make the stop but they give up five yds On The Run it's down to the 11 oo and I love the running back here running into the blitz he saw the extra Defender he was able to put his foot in the ground and make a miss that was a good play going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down leaves it with the running back give him about a yard on the play it's down at the 10 boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal looking downfield it's Dart just threw that one away to avoid disaster third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive cuz they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back pocket they'll send out the kicker to try to salvage this drive and it's right down the ball lar and with that they break the seal on the scoring it's three nothing this is a team that really Prides themselves on starting fast we've seen that before and here they are playing at home today nice job on the opening drive lots of poys good emotion they don't get the touchdown they would have liked but they kick a nice field goal they've got the lead that coach has to be happy with so after the made field goal they'll kick it away and rely on their defense the returner will field it try to do some business nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to work they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense that you're disposed and here comes the offense on second down going to run it it's boo draged down at the 30 after a 5yd gain you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack dominating at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down they'll snap this one from the 30 on First and 10 he'll PLL it on the read got it enough for the first he gets those chains moving gets it out to the 42 yd line well if at first you don't succeed try try again right it's been really hard for this offense in this game to run the football but they finally break off a big run there that could be the play they need to really generate momentum and get this one one game wide receiver shows motion but jetw sweet pass across the 45 and he's brought down after a nice game I love that play call and I love the timing of the pre-nap motion because the quarterback was able to get it to the receiver right behind the offensive line because of the timing he was able to outflank the defense that puts him out in space where he's able to use his speed nice nice job with the pre- snap motion and timing and this will be incomplete a big hit there forc his second down well the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion no gain on first down after the incompletion now second and 10 from the 40 quarterback on the keeper oh he dropped it now the defense has got it going the other way he pulled it and kept it on the option but he couldn't keep it away from the defense I think the QB made the right decision not to pitch it he needs to do a better job with ball security the defense they were able to get swarm to him quickly and dis led the football from his body YZ offense ready to go back to work and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points the rebels will hustle to the line from the gun running back on the move they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and what you talk about on defense speed is penetration getting in the back field making something happen and you could tell they got in there so quick the offense couldn't recover couldn't do anything with them nice job getting the tackle for a loss as they come to the line on Third and short from the 43 I wonder if they already know they'll go for it if they don't make it here trying to pick it up on the ground they thought they could just run it on Third and short but this defense was there to make the stop awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football and the rebels will putt this one away pretty solid coverage there and they'll stop him at the 26 here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack after that last drive he came back to the sideline and the coach probably said you dropped it didn't pick it up come on get on the ball David no that's not what he said he said you're doing a great job just keep your head y yeah he got blasted you got to hold on the football ball turnover to side games those are big plays it's tough on him too cuz he knows he let his offense down on that last drive so you know that guy's eager and anxious to come out here and make a play he'll do it himself got room at the 35 good call good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 designed quarterback runs there's so many of them so many ways to do it but either way it's about getting that extra blocker and getting a Dynam DC athlete these quarterbacks are all Dynamic athletes they're basically running backs now playing quarterback trying to get them in space and you can see he does the rest he can chew up those yards quick fast and in a [Music] hurt got eight on first down now looking at a second and two he'll keep it himself that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there it's a nice job by this defense understand listen that QB is a threat and they're going to run all kinds of options he's going to run the football they were dialed in and got that St let's see if they keep it on the ground here on third [Music] down they'll try to bully their way for the first first they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 41 and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense Mississippi State really efficient on offense right now we've come to the end of the period and oh miss is on top we've played one before we move on let's have a look at the [Music] stats they are lined up and ready to go and get things started here in the second finally this offense starting to shake the cobwebs and get things moving it's first and 10 and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that play but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up after picking up a couple at second and eight give to the running back and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball hitting their guys holding their gaps running to the football nowhere a third and long coming up here dropping back it's shapen fires to the middle got his man downfield and he eluded the defense and he'll take it all the way touchdown Mississippi State this guy is so dangerous because of his speed he can take the top off the defense and he did it right there on the PO great armed Talent getting the throw out in front of them it didn't matter how many DBS they had deep on that one I don't think they could have stopped P unit on the field [Music] and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead they marched 72 yards and they pay it off with a strike from 38 yds out lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive on the run from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Old Miss ready to send the offense onto the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive the rebels want to move quickly to the ground he's got it again they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I love this linebacker because he's able to dissect what's happening in front of him and he reacts down hill uses his speed to get to the line of scrimmage and create the negative play lost one on that last one it's second and 11 and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit tell you what that was a lightning fast decision you could tell he knew what he wanted to do right away makes the decision but maybe his footwork wasn't a little bit good and the pass wasn't where he wanted to put that thing I know that it'll take some work to get to the sticks it's third and long from the 30 looking to throw it's D right down the middle can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's fourth down well the quarterback in his intended target just simply didn't have the timing there the ball Falls incomplete on third Now setting up fourth down and the rebels will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away looking for a block it's Coleman he's brought down but a real excit solid effort to pick up every bit of yardage he could on the punt return here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back they pick up half of it it'll be second and five I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make him onor the Run make him know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively halfway there on first down it's second and five he's looking to throw finds a tight end they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down no reason to panic when you see those extra bodies coming just find the big tight head well and the great ones do that I think the great ones are okay you want to Blitz I know my answers I'm all right I'll stay patient find the matchup this time it was the tight end finds the tight end throws a strike gets the first down wide receiver now comes in motion to the ground with the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one offensively you want to run that counter right to try to take advantage of hyperactive defenses but just poor execution not a good job understanding where I need to go when I bounce that thing backside and it bounced outside you want to take that thing inside so the offense needs to operate a little bit better and maybe not run as much counter because the defense got it there pretty quick looking for room it's V and this guy has some shiftiness to him and he showed it off to the defense after picking up a few and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run great job finishing with his PS after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver he ended up going backwards on the play and they will not convert that third down and as an offense you've got an unconventional call you're trying to get your receiver the ball using pre- snap motion but You' got to do a better job up front blocking couldn't get it done and now it sets up fourth down so Mississippi state will have to punt this one away they'll look to pin him deep and no shot at a return here as the punt goes out of bounds YZ offense ready to go back to work they've been pretty much stifled on offense so far David only able to muster three points in their previous three drives and you got to find a way to open this up and create some explosive play like the passing game is obviously the easiest way justess put more speed on the field find those guys down the field you know they're frustrated too because they felt like there were some matchups they could take advantage of to get some points on the board early in this one they just haven't been able to connect on those opportunities but I like David's idea maybe move some guys around and see if you can create some better one-on-one matchups off the play fake on first down wants to throw and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on yeah and I love taking deep shots I think it makes quarterbacks play honest safeties play honest and you could tell just missed a little bit deep on that shot but listen those are shots that we want to take because the risk is definitely worth the reward hand off from the shotgun they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well he was trying to do it all by himself at the end of the day it's a tackle for I mean the number of tackles he broke at some point somebody's got to get blocked to help the guy out a little bit man the defense was like a bunch of zombies on that last play they just would not stop chasing that ball Carri the rebels racing to the line in the hurry up to the air it's D fires to the middle he's got an open man just carving up this defense and getting it down to the 24 nice play design on that one you make it easy for your quarterback too because it's easy to see what's happening right in front of over the middle of the field you can see where Defenders are dropping you can see where the soft spots are in zone coverage and just a really nice job by the QB locating his guide making an ACC throw off the play fake on first down to throw fires complete on the Crosser russle to the ground after picking up the first down great job by the offense listen the defense is going to sit back in zone you know what you got to do run those crossers across the formation those guys that they're looking at the quarterback they're not trying to pick up receivers all the time make those precise throws right in those holes get those first downs get those big chunks he'll pull it on the read not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward out of the gun the running back has it Relentless tough running gets it down to the four looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can pick up the first without scoring oh the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving around and he'll finish the run in the end zone touchdown Old Miss he didn't see anyone open said no problem I'll take care of it myself yeah I've been there before been there done that not my first rodeo I've been in this kind of situation down by the goal line I'm getting outside and I'm taking it in myself [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point gives him a three-point lead at 10 to7 they marched 72 yds and they finish it off with the score from the four almost ready ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll start the return inside his spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to work and a really nice run and pickup there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play defense is going to have their hands full trying to get this guy in the ground man he's got some serious moves once he has the ball in his hands and they'll line up from the 31 on first down they'll give it to him again and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening well they want to come out and try to get the Run game established but up front defensively they made a play they gave up nothing on that one got to find some pre room if you're going to establish yourself on the ground and there wasn't any that time yeah Reese I wonder now if this offense is maybe going to try to get to the perimeter of the field and see if they can use their speed to hurt this defense nice gain of six leaving them with third and four I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a whole run so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the table after a strong run on second down third down coming do they do it again catch in the middle it's Coleman they make the stop but the sweet growing catches plenty to give him a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good reys at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on third short the RPO fire complete to the left they get him on the ground at the 37 but give him 15 yards on that chunk play and they'll move the chains big play in the passing game there and I like the receiver gearing down in the zone did a nice job finding the soft spot on defense between the Defenders giving the quarterback an easy target to throw to to complete that throw leaves it with the back may work that running game down down to the 34 let's give him three on the carry yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the Tipo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge got three on first down it's second and seven they'll leave it with him tackle is made at the 30 yd line after he picked up four offensive lineman love to run power why you run power you run power then you can play action you don't want that defense to be sitting there saying it's a pass it's a pass having a pass block every play you got to keep defenses off bounds they've worked it down to the 30 this defense Standing Tall trying to force a field goal try to throw it's shapen floats it out in space he couldn't find anywhere to go and now it's Fourth Down they' hope to get him in space create Running Room and they're just wasn't anything there yeah I love the third down aggressive iny face defense not giving you any room to run down the field great job by the defense they saw the throw the Quick Pass reacted to it got him on the ground for a loss never a doubt for this big-footed guy 49 yd field goal is good after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again he'll bring it back from inside to five good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that return the clock has stopped and we've reached the two-minute warning before halftime wasting no time throwing on this drive got a man it's Harris they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two and the rebels want to pick up the tempo looking to go up top on first down got him downfield there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give him a first down everybody holds their breath when this guy has the ball on defense now you got to stop the bleeding because you're allowing one of the best at his position in the sport of college football now have back-to- back catches you better be anticipating this offense going back to him again right here to the air on first down all kinds of room to throw that one in there and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one the rebels have it with a first and 10 looking downfield it's Dart he makes the grab they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught caught over the middle it's Zimmerman the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half a nice job by the QB there timing out that drag throw it's Zone coverage so he's got to make sure he gets it to his receiver in a window to allow him to catch the ball and then turn it up field and good hands there by the defense on that shot to the end zone you simply don't see that very often a quarterback of this guy's caliber missing a guy wide open in the end zone he makes those throws in his sleep boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal on Third and long try to convert through the air and the rush will get to him at the 25 timeout called here by the defense it's the first one they've used this half well you just sort of felt like this defense had to do something to get this quarterback out of a rhythm right he's been picking them a part all Drive long and finally they come up with a sack it is perfect and guys after the field goal now they have the lead [Music] so they were able to put up a three spot on that last drive and now the kickoff team out there as they prepare to put boot to leather and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack this lead in the half you're behind you'd love to create something before the break to build momentum Jesse but you've also had some miscues on offense big part of why losing the game right now I'd take it into halftime make my adjustments and come out ready in the second half yeah I'm going to take it in halftime too par but I'm trying to put some points up right here be aggressive set the tone be like Hey listen this is what you're going to get in the second half so find something really quickly you can go to theyy get him down after he makes a catch and that's kind of a lot of today's running game right spit the ball out quick get it to your Playmakers in space get positive yards it's instead of running the ball a couple yards up the middle now you just spit it out wide and a lot of times if you break a few tackles it could be even bigger looking to pass it's shaen feeling some heat pressure is all over him and he can't get it off down he goes and that'll bring us to the end of the first half [Music] that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin and our halftime update fellas it's one thing to have a rivalry game but when you have two longtime foes separated by about 100 miles battling here in the Egg Bowl you know emotions tend to run high and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top with that let's throw it back to the guys to see how the fight between Mississippi State and Old Miss plays out Mississippi state has it teed up ready to go here in the second half and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Old Miss ready to send the offense onto the field they'll start this third quarter with a run didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it and the rebels headed quickly to the line trying play action he lets one fly deep and this is dropped oh my goodness it was just too easy and he didn't look it in my job is to make sure that ball comes loose and I got to go through that guy use my shoulder pad drive my feet really really really be physical cuz if he bobbles it at all or as soon as his hand gets to the ball you can tell the difference when that body jerks forward and that ball starts to come loose and pop out slips a tackle and he's got room and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play Third Down A lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my guys better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you off the play fake on first down how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion that's one thing about this defense they've got some dudes in the back end that can cover and they can hang with some of these intended targets nice job swatting that one away the incompletion on first down leaves him with second and 10 from the 43 off the play fake throws to the wide out good quickness to grab it off the bouns it falls incomplete and man did they think they had that one set up and it didn't quite work some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third down from the 43 he wants to throw it again and the defense gets to the quarterback well the defense obviously went in at halftime they were trailing on the scoreboard they needed to make some adjustments and already they're showing some positive signs on the very first drive of the second half they're able to register a sack on third down looking to get the ball back to their offense here the rebels will bring the punt team onto the field not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field man oh man these offenses just haven't been able to find any room to get things going David and to quote the great philosopher reys Davis this is very un good just nothing working for this offense Palmer they got to find something well the plays look good against the scout team during the week in practice but they have just not been able to find a rhythm against this defense today now on second down and short caught in the back field it's Coleman finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down he's just winning that matchup in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot Reese he's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that slot position the offense lines up at the 40 they've got a first down the give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting down downhill and getting in the back field and making the tackle for a loss 12 one on that last one it's second and 11 he leaves it with his back they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 [Music] let's see what they find in the playbook for third and long from the 43 looking for a man it's shapen fires it incomplete well after struggling so much in the first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half they're just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down in your own end you're expecting them to punt Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit fair catch called for but there is a flag on the play we'll have to sort it out personal foul ring the kicker defense the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three I think a lot of times when offenses run these counters you're going to fake one right right pull guys the other direction if you can get some penetration really quickly get behind those pullers you got a chance to get in the back field just like right there and create a tfl let's see what they've got on second down he's looking to throw quick slant complete gets him down at the 30 after a 15yd pickup they are threatening and they have a first down love the location of the throw on that slant pass put it out in front of the receiver put it on his face maskk so he can catch it and try to advance and the Bulldogs are moving quickly down the field they'll throw it on first down unloads it left and that one's incomplete and I tell you what I know it's little when these QBs Miss and and the ball's not right to him but man it makes such a difference with yards after the catch and in this case even catching the football it was just a little bit off and it just made it a little bit difficult for his wide receiver to try to make the catch just a short pass to the tight end they make the stop right there good pickup and still short of the first down love the decision making by the quarterback there on the rbo play defense took everything away deep down the field so just check it down get it to your guy in the right right flat let him go get yards headed to the line at the 23 trying to convert this third and short they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker tackled but he has a first down it's hard to stop great Runners it really is that's why you run the football consistently you got a big offensive line a big physical unit you run the football like this man it will take a toll later but you got to tackle this guy over and over again who has this ability to make people miss and make big plays Mississippi State to the line with a fresh set of downs from the Red Zone he's going to throw it he's got the tight end that completion gets them inside the 10 and the defense is running out of room to defend really good concept there to get things going and use the tight end early yeah I mean just such a great job on first down setting up an easier second down understanding I don't always have to push the ball down the field but see the tight end make the throw no it's not a big gain but makes life really easy on the on second down oh how did you make that move touchdown Bulldogs they take the lead with the six one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch if this quarterback gets through his progression David he hits you in stride these guys will take it to the house man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down that makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiver you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead personal foul nothing the kicker defense def so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty the kickoff team out there to boot it away in 15 yds farther up the field after the roughing the kicker penalty just unloaded on that kickoff don't have to worry about a return on a kick like that and they'll bring it out to the 25 coming out on first down with the play fake finds his tight end at the 40 there he goes and an explosive play has him on the move and he gets it all the way to the 48 yd line it's amazing in college football the tight end position and how much it's changed back in the day you're a blocking guy maybe you catch a flat route today these guys have athleticism and you just saw it from that dude after the catch on that last one power football with the Run you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play they showed this run in the first half right you saw they loaded up on this side Rand the football had some success what do they do in the second half pull some guys run the counter the other direction to keep the defense off balance and the rebels are in the hurry up pulls and throws off the RPO he almost pick up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game here on third down will they go back to the running game to the ground to try to move the chains they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one you know the runner just has to have a little bit more patience he bounc that thing outside a little too early and as a result lost yards the rebels will punt it away on fourth down fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to punt the punt goes out of bounds and a nice job to get them backed up I think they'll spot it right around the 15 the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to work boy David they would love to stack another touchdown on top of that last drive and this offense did such a good job on the last Drive everything in Rhythm moved the ball down the field didn't make those mistakes Jesse and they need to do it again on this one yeah you're right they had the defense on their heels you wonder what sort of communication was going on that sideline what sort of changes were they able to make cuz they got to stop the bleeding right now setting up for a first and 10 from the 26 trying to get the edge on the right Works ahead for a couple they'll stop him at the 27 picked up two yard on that last one they need eight on second down back to pass it's shapen just gets rid of it to the running back underneath he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short you see this more and more in college football motion the running back out of the back field what am I looking for I'm looking to see if it's man coverage does a linebacker going chase him if he does guess what I get to do take advantage of my matchup I like my speed better than years and you can give all the credit to the crowd for that one offense no chance and call for the false start the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air couldn't quite haul it in they almost had their first pick here late in the game well the offense is trying to throw for it in their own end on third down and quarterback receiver not not quite on the same page and they're lucky cuz that was almost picked up so Mississippi state will have to putt this one away here's the fair catch but there is a flag on the field we might have to do this one again kick def so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keep this drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I I think this offensive line right now they've got a lather going they're really sort of getting in the groove and flow of of this game they're just getting tremendous push at the point of attack it seems like every single time touchdown bulldog and once he found daylight it was Katie Bar the Door baby and it's now the second time this wide receiver has scored another outstanding job with the route great job securing the catch lining up for the Pat and the extra point is good and they have an 11-point lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finish things off with a 44 foury touchdown pass just about set to kick it away here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 y Miss offense ready to go back to work that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them and the rebels in the hurry up from the gun they'll try to impose their will tackle is made after the first down you got to wonder if that's a moral victory for this offensive line cuz they have not been running the ball well at all all game long but on that short yardage situation they finally pick it up and maybe that's going to be the Catalyst for them to get this thing going and Spark the Run game they'll put it in play from the 27 first down they're going to ride this running back holds his way forward backs are like tackling a dump truck a lot of times you get them in the open field and they're they're so fast but they're so thickly built they're hard to get to the ground and a lot of times you're just like all right how can I hang on for help or for somebody to get here but you could tell they didn't get there fast enough and those somebodies need to get there quicker for him if they want to get this guy on the ground now the play fake looking to the big tight end got his man all by himself and there was lots of space as he gets it to the 39 yd line sometimes your tight ends a safety valve and sometimes he's your go-to receiver and the offense knew right away it was the primary target it was where he was going with the football cuz you know you get a little bit of suck up from those linebackers with the play action and you feed the big fella off play action on first down complete downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big big chunk of yardage is picked up and as a quarterback when you're facing man coverage you've got to find your best one-on-one matchup that receiver did a tremendous job quickness changing direction out of his break able to create separation there was no question the quarterback was going to Target that receiver on that play they'll run it from the gun FES through the pile and picks up a couple down to the 16 as we head to the quarter break Mississippi state has the lead they've built a cushion they've got a nice lead now the task is finish the deal as you take a look at the third quarter steps one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory after picking up a couple at second and eight dropping back it's D receiver looks it in it's complete they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre- snap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right now they're going to go to the air on Third and short grab near the marker it's Harris into to the house touchdown Rebels well how about that and after that touchdown we might have a finish after all Jesse I love it reys and this team is not quitting yeah they're down on the scoreboard right now but they are clawing and they are scratching their way back in this game they're going to keep going hard until this clock reachs all zero [Music] obvious thinking here get the two-point conversion now and all you'll need as a field goal to tie the snap sets up to throw he gets it in for the two and now a field goal with ti so a drive there of 85 yds and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown Dart the kickoff team takes the field to Bo Bo this one away on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack and it's intercepted a huge fourth quarter play for this defense and with the interception he'll take it all the way back touchdown all Miss how about that play by this defense the offense trying to Salt the game away with the lead defense makes the biggest play in the ball game getting the pick finding the end zone and taking the lead late in this ball game [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the fourth they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six returner will field it and try to get some field position and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next drive all right guys so here's the offense back on the field again hand off from the gun that hole closed quickly a pick up of one to the 15 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine out of the gun the give to the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three great job by that Defender I mean he timed that snap count perfectly got into the back field and created the negative play you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 to the air it's shapen getting some heat they're going to get him for a safety tried to make something out of nothing and still got stuck for the two and that's a big time play by this defense when you needed it the most in the fourth quarter this game is super close it's tight not only do you make the play and get a stop you put points on the board and you get the football back with a chance to Salt this football game away that's how defenses step up late in games the kickoff team lined up they'll have to give it back after giving up that safety he'll bring it back it's Watkins finally stopped after a solid return out to the 32 Old Miss ready to send the offense onto the field man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal running toward the tap he's at the 10 touchdown Rebels and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house speed kills this offense they've got multiple guys that can burn you you can see it doesn't take them long to light up the scoreboard [Music] two-point conversion attempt is coming quarterback on the keeper he's got the two-point conversion and they build on that lead that's the kind of Drive everybody loves he'll see quarterback One Snap put it in the end zone about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the run from inside his zone five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field looking for a physical attack from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three that defense is about getting off the football and when that defensive line can be disruptive and get in the back field right away and mess those polar actions on those counter plays it can be really advantageous for the defense great job by the defense being hyperactive to the air it's shapen looking down the middle and the pass is intercepted and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception it doesn't get any better for your defense you know exactly the situation in the fourth quarter everything in your favor don't let him make big plays how about you make a big play nice job getting the interception it's not icing on the cake yet but it's getting pretty close and the offense takes over to dip into its Bag of ball plays leaves it with the back you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six well no mystery on that play call right you've got the lead wait in the game you've gotten the ball back on the other side of the 50 on your opponent's side and so so you're just going to run it and it's fine if they know that you just want to stay on the field and bleed this clock and you got to start thinking about where are your best run at runs which side of this offensive line is the strongest which guys defensively do you want to attack so you can take as much time off the clock as possible they go right back to him brought down after a pick up of five yds down to the 10 I think that was an example of the offensive coordinat trying to help out his quarterback he's trying to keep these third Downs manageable you know you throw the ball on second down and it's incomplete now you've set up third and long and now you're set up to fail really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal they'll try to drive ahead on Third and short and from this angle I don't think he got the first down the defense one at the line of scrimmage man not much wiggle room for the ball carrier there I'm not really sure what they can do to try to create some space I know block better how about the offensive lineman push some guy backwards and make some holes so here comes the field goal unit they've been doing work today they've already made a couple it is true as he puts three on the board and they'll push that lead out a little further well they're able to get a field goal put three points up on the board after getting that interception you would have like has seen the offense do a little bit more with that possession give themselves an opportunity to score a touchdown but listen teams will take three points anyway they can [Music] get they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work he'll start the return inside his five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Mississippi State offense headed back to the field to go to work looking to throw it's shaping he looks that one in nicely they stop him just short of the first down but it will be second and inches coming up here's the deal you're down three possessions you know it doesn't feel likely they're going to come back and win but we've seen crazier stuff happen in college football it all starts with a big completion on a two-minute Drive they'll get the momentum started in your direction he's looking for an open man on second down unloads to the wide out a strike downfield and he gets a big chunk of yardage to the 34 yd line it's important on offense in the passing game you got to have balance and I mean you got to be able to attack different thirds of the field you got to work the perimeter to both sides but you got to let the defense know too that you're not afraid to go over the middle and they did right there big plays like that makes play calling so much easier now it's first and 10 from the 34 he's looking to throw it and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 yeah and they get him again this is a offense that you expect them to protect their guy I mean he is a dude that you you know if you give him time he's going to make plays but this defense is making sure he's not getting that time negative play on first down that's what a defense always wants he's going to pass on second down quickly to the tight end and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain and defensively this is exactly what you want right you got the big lead so you can play Big Zone coverages just keep the ball in front of you keep your eye on the quarterback rally to the football get tackle you're going to win this game this is a third and long looking to throw and he needs a chunk play got it in the middle it's bman that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the Stop and with that one he's now over three bills for the game and there's two reasons why Rees he's made good decisions and he's been accurate throwing the football all game Long Mississippi State right back to the line he'll do it himself they pick up half of it it'll be second and five and when these quarterbacks run these Zone reads or read options whatever you want to call them they have to put their eyes on a c Defender and they're reading him and basically you can't be right that's what makes it so hard to defend because if you do one thing he's going to do the other you do the other thing he's going to do the other so good luck stopping him he'll keep it himself really nice stop there from this senior leader you know this offensive line they've just got to hold their blocks a little bit longer this offense likes to run their quarterback undesigned plays if you can just give him a little crease he can take it the but they couldn't get it done there they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal he's looking to throw on Third and short he wants it all throw to the end zone picked off nice job by this defense that might be the exclamation point fourth quarter I got to lead bring on the nickel defense you know they're passing the football for plays just like that to make the int and almost put this one away [Music] y Miss offense ready to go back to work always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little empty and I think it's great to get points but the great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this drive you're absolutely right David generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see if they can a little bit more physical on this drive they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 back to throw it's Dart fires to the big fella and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one such a tough spot to be in on defense because you're trailing You're Expecting the offense to run the football they just did it on the last play and then on a critical third down they go play action and they throw it over over your head you got to feel for this defense out of the shotgun on third down snagged in the middle it's Harris that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 he has been the go-to guy on offense all game long and know a critical third down here in the fourth quarter surprise surprise guess who they go to that guy the rebels with the first and 10 used the play fake now to throw hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver I'm a little bit surprised they're still throwing the football here this late in the game with this kind of lead they're on first down taking a shot Falls incomplete but obviously they're still seeing matchups that they want to take advantage of in the back end of this defense so they're letting it fly the playaction fake he's going to let it go and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed [Music] it now facing a third and long from the shotgun the hand off to the [Music] back and the rebels will try to pin them back with the punt they may have to pay him overtime he's pun running for the fifth time today he'll get away another punt he's been really active today and no doubt he's going to earn his vars lad they'll get him coral and down at about the 19 yd line here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage they'll spread the defense out going five wide on second and 10 fires to the wide out and that pass will be jar Lo on second down that brings up third down well this guy must feel like he's run into a buz saww in this game he has been under duress all game long that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too nothing coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure of this defense and that's why they find themselves down by so much here in the fourth wide open downfield and they get him down at the 43 but this is the kind of explosive play you want to build on and I really like when offenses attack over the middle of the field between the linebackers and the safeties there's usually a soft area that you can usually have some success and really nice job by this offense taking advantage of those areas he'll just keep slinging it makes the catch it's Mosley open space of the 25 and he just kept running and he ran away from the crowd and he'll take it in touchdown Mississippi State when that receiver got free it was all over over and it's so nice to have a receiver like this as a quarterback cuz you pad my stats I like those long touchdown passes where I just threw it really short and he did the rest of the work lining up to add another and the Pat will draw them one point closer quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they Clos the deal from 43 yds out with a touchdown pass they still have work to do trailing by two possessions here in the fourth lineup for the onside kick cool as a cucumber as the hands team makes a sure catch Miss ready to send the offense onto the field after after a punt on their last possession they are set up in plus territory this time and honestly it wouldn't have mattered if they scored a touchdown their last possession you've got to be able to turn the page and see this as a brand new opportunity to go get points yeah and your defense has set you up for a position to get points right away now let's get this offense back rolling again create some momentum just get a few first downs and I'm in scoring position clock continues to run and they'll be happy to wind it all the way down before they snap it off play action he'll take a deep shot here excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away well things have gone pretty well so far right you've got the lead you're playing play at home it's late you just need a few more of these completions to ice the game that time couldn't come away with it it's a nice play by the defender knocking it down couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and four back to pass it's Dart got the Quick Pass still on his feet and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up well I tell you man this guy's been putting on a show all game long we've seen his decision decision making we've seen his athleticism because of him they've got this huge lead in the fourth quarter so why stop throwing it just keep it going when the Going's good the rebels have it with a first and 10 on the ground trying to pull the plug on this clock defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense operating in the Red Zone here on second down from the shotgun they'll run it and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone they'll ride the running back and leave it with him gets it inside the five down to the four and it'll be first and goal timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible and the rebels will try to put one on the board on first and goal and they'll take a knee and watch this clock keep on winding winding its way toward a victory [Music] go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music]
