let's talk about what's been happening in conservative Canada concerned about vote splitting in British Columbia's October general election BC United leader Kevin Falcon suspends his party's campaign and endorses the BC conservatives [Music] concerned about vote splitting among the center right BC United leader Kevin Falcon suspends his party's campaign and announces plans to fold the party he was joined by British Columbia conservative leader John rustad for the press conference I made the decision uh that I made as leader of BC United to suspend our campaign I will be withdrawing our candidate and nominations and uh in cooperation with uh John rustad we will work together to to uh assemble the best possible team of mlas and candidates that can serve the best interests of British Colombians the BC conservative party hasn't won an election in almost 100 years when Simon Fraser told me became Premier in 1928 so many conservatives have supported the BC Liberal Party as the best alternative to the NDP the BC Liberal Party recently rebranded themselves as BC United and now as a BC United party again the name is about trying to unite people but what became apparent to me uh as I've crisscrossed The Province and heard from literally tens of thousands of people is the number one major concern that they had and that is Kevin if you guys don't do the right thing and be the adults in the room and help bring together that free enterprise center right Common Sense Coalition you are going to help elect an NDP government and all of you that know me know that there is nothing more important to me and my children and your children and grandchildren that we not give the NDP one more day in power than they absolutely have to have in neighboring Alberta the NDP formed government in 2015 after conservative voters split their votes between the progressive conservative party and the Wild Rose party take a look at this something most Canadians probably never thought they'd see not just an NDP government in Alberta but a strong majority the Wild Rose party and the PCS in Alberta United to form the United conservative party in order to successfully defeat the NDP in the 2019 election I've decided to seek the leadership of the progressive conservative party of Alberta seeking an explicit mandate to unite with the Wild Rose party and all like-minded albertans so we can defeat the NDP and put this province back on the right track John rustad became leader of the BC conservative party in March 202 3 he was first elected as an MLA for the BC Liberal Party back in 2005 and served as a cabinet minister under Premier chrisy Clark he had this to say I think Kevin has uh shown himself to uh to really you know put the interests of the province first uh and I can't thank him more for the work that he is doing we have a ton of work that we need to do together and that we need to do with all of us in British Columbia British Columbia's election is slated for October 19th of this year be sure to like And subscribe to our page to stay in the know with what's happening in conservative Canada and sign up for our free email updates thanks for watching
