Olympic Medal Etiquette & Vikings Schedule Preview

Corey also in on the morning Sports desk all right Olympics how much have you consumed a lot of it I I really enjoy watching the Olympics I don't know if it's uh if it's corny if it's not corny uh I know people's opinions very strongly on it I am not like a like an Olympic Die Hard by any means you know some people get way way into it and then the opposite version is like you just get made fun of if you even bring up the Olympics uh I'm somewhere in between but I really enjoy it I really enjoy rooting for the Americans um like like yesterday when I watched I really en enjoy rooting for the minnesotans who are uh involved in some way shape or form and uh I I I've always enjoyed the Olympics summer winter it doesn't matter I I get into it yeah no I mean I'm very casual like I'm probably I would say I'm more casual than you I'm like yeah if they're on cool I'm not going to like seek them out I'm not yeah unless it's Team USA Basketball I'm pretty much just gonna let it be and usually it's like you know my wife or if I'm at my parents house and it's on or something like that like if it's on I'll watch it but I'm not going to seek it out really but also uh you know there's just a little bit of patriotism where it's like all right cool is this the sport America supposed to win I'm all in I'm gonna I'm going to watch and I'm going to be invested and I'm going to whatever and and we'll roll with it because you know uh rooting for a flag has never been this Much Fun Since the world wars I um I am I gotta be careful how I say this I am not like a patriotic person in general like that's just it's I don't I don't have that bone in me you know what I mean yeah I don't have an American flag hooked up to the back of my truck kind of I don't I don't have that I don't have that like whatever it is and and you can feel free to misconstrue that if you want I feel like I explained that clearly enough uh um but um I I always for the Olympics I I get into it I get into it I I I like rooting for the Americans I like seeing I'm I don't really get into the human interest side of the stories that's not I I don't care I like watching the sports I like watching the races I like watching watching them throw or jump or whatever it is um watched gymnastics last night um and Simone B like here here's one of the other things about it it's it's it's special right so like if you wan to you get to watch LeBron James and LeBron James is of my lifetime the greatest basketball player ever some people think he is the greatest ever of whatever era LeBron is a part of he's the greatest basketball player of that of that era you I get to watch like I get to watch LeBron James through his Prime and the beginning in all of it I got to watch Tom Brady the greatest quarterback ever I get to I get to watch like I get to watch Simone biles there's nobody who's ever been better at gymnastics than Simone biles like like not even close uh Katie Lei swimming uh we'll never see or I mean we will but we have up until this point seen another uh female swimmer as dominant as Katie leeki I just I get to watch Michael Phelps fill in the blank right like that's the part of it that I love is these people who put their whole lives into it and they finally get to Showcase it like you get to see LeBron every single night if you want to during the NBA season but these people who like dedicate their lives to become the best in the world and then in these instances become the best ever is really I I really appreciate that um that aspect of of what the Olympics brings to the table and I know there's World Championships in the in the off years of the Olympics whatever um but like World Cup stuff I get into soccer World Cup when that thing comes around I just appreciate stuff I just appreciate stuff like this you know all right so let's take a look at the metal count have you been following along at all uh with the metal count so far I remember ye you know the story yesterday as of two days ago then would have been the Americans I think were leading the French overall by four uh by four total medals China had the most gold medals at the time with nine I don't know where we stand anymore with any of it but um you know that's a that's it's a fun side by-side comparison to make fun of other countries updated uh metal counts so China is in front with 13 gold medals over and 27 medals overall but China leads in Golds the United States leads in overall medals with 41 they are in second place with nine Golds they have the most silver and bronze medals with 17 and 15 respectively to get to that 41 number and then in total medals you have Great Britain with 25 France with 29 Australia with 19 Japan 17 South Korea 13 uh Italy has 17 total medals Netherlands eight total medals Canada nine uh and then everybody else just kind of trickles in along if you go to the bottom there is Austria Egypt Portugal Slovakia and chakhan and tazan and they each have one bronze medal cool then and they're sitting kind of at the bottom of these uh standings here uh anyway uh that's where it stands and of course now the running events are coming throughout the next weekish so you know that should if you're worried about the United States gold medal count you know there's going to be basketball you should get a gold for each of the men's and women's basketball teams and then you know we'll see how the running equates into things unless I'm mistaken I think and I'm not saying the United States is going to win Golds every running event but uh I don't think China is going to necessarily build their lead out in the running events for for the gold medal count you're counting you're you're talking yes so and and one of the things that I that I happen to love about this and and you and I have a kind of very similar growing up situations I'm going to work around to to my point here in that I grew up playing team sports and then my younger siblings got into some of these individual sports like my brothers both did cross country and track and I know that's the same for you too and and one of the things I never unders stood growing up going to these Cross Country meets or or or track meets was watching people celebrate not winning and there was it was just a concept I hadn't really grown to understand or appreciate that um in an individual sport like track swimming some of gymnastics all of these sports that we're watching right now at the Olympics um they always used to say I always used to hear announcers say wins silver wins bronze and I was like that doesn't make any sense because it's not first place you lost the gold and that will be true come basketball time come team sports but in an individual count or sport winning you do win a silver medal if you're Sunni Lee from St Paul and you get the bronze medal in the uh gymnastics allaround you won the bronze and I uh it's changed my perspective on like this medal count that is yes China's won the most Golds up to this point but winning all of those other medals and sometimes it is just a numbers game there I don't think there's a country that has probably more Olympians than the United States so they're just you know it's just a sheer numbers game but I do really actually believe that I didn't believe always understand growing up that like if you medal at a swimming event you've won that event you didn't there's nothing you can do in a 200 meter breast stroke to stop the other person from swimming faster than you all you can do is swim as fast as you can you know and if it happens to be second place you want it and uh I think that's probably another thing I appreciate appreciate about some of these Olympics and things I didn't necessarily understand when I was when I was growing up you know yeah and the other thing is too obviously everybody like any individual sport there's different expectations for each competitor somebody like Simone biles winning silver in something is you know not awful but it's a disappointment like it's not the expectation they came in with for your average Olympian making it to the Olympics was the goal you know what I mean like whatever they do in these games are house money it was getting to they get to say Olympian next to their name for the rest of their lives and that's what a lot of these people are working for yes there's there's stories studies whatever A lot of times that the person who gets the bronze medal is happier than the person who gets the silver medal because that you know to contradict myself you feel like you lost out on the gold if you if you get the second place finish but if you get the bronze you're just so thrilled that you medled that uh that yeah there's a little ha your happiness is probably a little higher but um yeah you're right if you're Simone if you're Katie Le if you're if you're Katie lein don't win gold in the 1500 I mean it's probably because she cramped up and drowned in the pool what she does is just insane and I cannot wait for this track stuff to start I cannot wait gonna be fun all right so speaking of Simone biles Cory there was a story that's been making the rounds on the internet over the last 12 hours uh uh you know Simone B's husband is Jonathan Owens he's an NFL safety recently played for the Green Bay Packers now plays for the Chicago Bears uh there was a bit of controversy uh because he just committed the gravest ACT Possible Oh no look at what he did look what he did what do he do he's wearing his wife's medals oh he's not supposed to do that uh here's a couple different uh articles but I'm gonna say this headline from the Independent Simone biles's husband Jonathan Owens Sparks outrage for weing wife's gold medals after Olympics win and here's in the subhead that's Simone B's gold medal you're holding not yours my guy one person response on Instagram Cory take um there I just want to clear a couple things up if I may yeah these two they're married correct yes they are married he didn't he's this isn't the first time they've met he didn't steal those from her uh not according to my knowledge no in was like a heartfelt moment where like when she won the Medal she like looked at him and went like this and he went like that back yeah it was awesome yeah um okay and then just one more question a question I haven't asked yet these two are married correct uh yes they are they are one flesh I would like to respectfully tell everyone to shut up knock it off I have a question for you CJ I have I have a related question uhuh let's say your beautiful wife won an Olympic medal do you think you would have put it on I would have been strutting that thing around Corey like you wouldn't believe let me let me ask you this question question Cory would your wife if she had the opportunity and won an Olympic medal would you wear it I'll answer this I'll answer this with a real life situation my uh lovely bride was named educator of the like a sourcewell educator of the year for Verndale and the second we could get a picture and I could make it my Facebook profile picture I did so yeah if she wanna if she if she won any medal at the Olympics like I would steal it from her I I would have been so proud of that I'm sorry Corey you're canceled for Stolen Valor um yeah no I don't have any patience for that yeah I S I saw a lot of these headlines be like that's not yours man it's like he knows he like he's not doing it to say look what I did notice how she's in the picture with him yes lovingly with their arms wrapped around each other like a happy happily married couples should be it's not like he is the picture of him like twirling around like a lanyard what and also who cares if he did right those two I don't think she cares the most offensive thing he could have done and who cares um I'm uh it looks to me like he is thrilled for his wife uhhuh just wants to celebrate in her achievements yes that's sounds like a good husband to me yeah well Owens has been hit with immense backlash in the comments with fans criticizing him and questioning why he posed with his partner's Olympic medal in the first place but why are you wearing it how odd somebody commented give the metal back baby that's not yours said one commenter uh I don't I don't not odd this is this is infuriating you know who should be mad the Chicago Bears that he's not at training camp to be fair I he's he's an NFL player I don't think they're missing him that bad it's fine everything about it is fine everything job you know what I wouldn't be at my job if my wife was in the Olympics right I would have found a way to take that time off and you know what this is just a thing of like everybody has to be miserable about something just knock it off like knock it knock it off you prove nothing other than the fact that you're an idiot if this is your argument if this is bothering you you have a problem because it's not bothering the actual gold medal Olympian I don't if because somebody had to take that picture by the way he took it and posted it online so through all this process if she was upset at all that picture would not have been posted she also has other gold medals right like weirdly as as much as an important as as important as a gold medal is to somebody I mean it's this one is probably way more fun for him because he wasn't with her I think when she won her other gold medals at the very least they weren't married I don't think and by the way the last time there was an Olympics don't know if you know this Cory uh still recovering from a worldwide pandemic the people allowed in was very limited yeah it's just I don't know I this is dumb this is dumb I I uh if these are the if if the people who are getting mad about this if you are not getting excited about your significant others accomplishments you're going to get divorced congratulations well and it's not just about that I think it's like you can say in a way I'm not saying he's taking credit for winning these gold medals but they husband and wife they support each other they keep each like they keep each other up they do whatever you know what I mean like he's I'm not saying he's taking credit for her gold medals but in a way like she what she's gonna tell him or whatever she told him when they went to their hotel room and put their heads down on the pillow last night I couldn't have done this without you has probably been said you know what I mean cuz that's what a loving husband and wife tell each other I'm sure he tells that about his wife when he has a good game you know what I mean like when you have something good in your life Corey you typically tell your wife hey I couldn't do this without your support your wife would tell you that back so why is everybody having a problem with this I just don't it's just kind of in general people getting mad on somebody's behalf without knowing like you know what ask her and maybe you know what I don't know I don't know the full story so maybe I'm jumping to conclusions here the wor I don't know maybe every who's mad about this had a one-on-one conversation with Simone biles and said and Simone said to them in private you know just kind of look at that dork he keeps wanting to wear my metal kind of bugs me he didn't do anything maybe that really happened I don't know I doubt it doubted congratulations to Simone and her husband yeah so Corey gold metal effort now as we oh wait did Sone win that I thought Jonathan Owens did because he was he he was wearing it is thats he have the medal on there in that picture didn't he yeah who is she again Mrs Owens yeah yeah I think so I think so you remember that thing uh with uh uh remember Zack Zs the NFL tight end yes and his wife Julie SZ played on the National Women's Soccer Team yes there was this big movement everybody it was like kind of a wink and Nod to everybody they'd be like whoa like whenever Zack hers would do something good in a football game they go Julie sz's husband sure is pretty good at sports yes that was always that was that was one of my favorite Twitter jokes it's awesome like just kind of because normally it's the other way around and nobody says it like in a bad way but it's just like a flipping it on its head of because like JJ watt's wife plays soccer she's pretty good like that exactly which is anyway so all right let's switch over to football core and let's talk Minnesota Vikings because their schedule was released a long time ago but now as we get through the middle of training camp let's try and talk about some games their first preseason game is still a ways away it's far it's next Saturday okay don't call of Fame game was last night yeah uh did you watch no I had the Olympics on yeah no exactly even the Vikings preseason stuff the game got suspended due to due to weather and then they're just like ah forget it to show you how much much people care about the the Hall of Fame game who cares anyway so here we go let's do the Vikings schedule Cory we are going to pick each game and kind of do our rundown and I have this written down and I'm sure you've written something down somewhere a good so and we're gonna kind of just keep track of these throughout the regular season and just kind of check in with it like we did a year ago yep all right so and I'm going to list off some I'm going to list off betting odds for each week uh I know you've already kind of made up mind but I'll just add it for extra context let's week one at New York Giants it's a noon kickoff MetLife Stadium the Giants are going to be wearing those god- aul uh like brown pant 100-year throwback yeah for that game uh and I'm just going to add that uh it's Vikings minus one with a 41 and a half uh total Point uh bet on this game according to Vegas the favorite the Vikings are the that has been changed because the Vikings According to some were not favorites in their first like 10 G uh eight 10 games something like that well it's it's um it's G to be it's G to be dicey and and to go on the road in week one with all the hype that's really difficult but I do want I have I have some clarifying questions that that if you can help me through Danny dimes is their quarterback or is they do they have a different quarterback nope it is Danny derps and did they make any do they have anything like they don't saquan Barkley is not there anymore no I they they did draft Malik neighbors the top one of the top players in the draft he's having a really nice Camp LSU wide receiver don't know if you know the last couple LSU wide receivers have been pretty good so that's that's what they're banking on pretty much for their entire offensive production I have might be controversial I agree with the Vikings as the favorite here I think they're going to get a win week one at New York I think they're going to get a win too I think so what a start to the season undefeated start printing the Super Bowl T-shirts we're all going to be there I mean like you can just hear it after that week one win like everybody's just all right let's move on over to week two which is going to be the San Francisco 49ers home open Home open uh get your beer jokes ready uh the 49ers are six and a half Point favorites in this game so by a touchdown 47 Point kind of total is what the betting is on that one Corey are the Vikings two and 0 well if you're gonna play San Francisco it's probably best to play them early but this is too early for CMC to get hurt mhm so I have an L yeah I have I have an L for this one too it's early in the season so maybe somebody gets hurt in training camp but somebody like you talked about nobody from the 49ers has a chance to get hurt yet which is typically they start out hot get hurt in the middle of the season and then if they can get guys healthy in time they make the Super Bowl that's typically been San Francisco's Mo the Vikings are one in one so far yeah if that were a week seven game like it was last year that yeah you know a week like four to seven four to eight somewhere in there I'd be more interested in picking the Vikings ain't going to happen week three hosting the Houston Texans Texans are three and a half Point favorites in this one and a 46 and a half total Point bet Corey what do you got there's something to be taken into account here for a little sophomore slump uh a little high expectation um uh uh being a too much for Houston uh the their schedule being a little more difficult in this year than in years past however I don't think the Vikings are a part of the reason that their schedule will be more difficult this year I have this as an L I have this as an L too and remember Corey this is going to be Stefan digs and Neil Hunter's first game back at US Bank Stadium oh that's right I forgot about those two guys yeah so that'll be it'll be fascinating it'll be uh interesting hey Vikings fans uh week four they go to Green Bay and again the vi Vikings are one and two at this point uh Packers are five and a half Point favorites at home and a 45 point total kind of guess there yeah do they get the win in Lambo uh Jordan love holding out is weird uh he got a lot of money despite only playing six good games in his entire career I'm I'm a little interested to see what happens with Green Bay because they are going to have uh a ton of hype around them and they going to be everybody's like watch out everyone's going to pick Detroit and then the last person on a panel is going to be like yeah but watch out for Green Bay and uh so I worry about that for them um but I have this as a loss it's at Lambo like this is just one of those it it wouldn't matter this could be this could be the the 15- one Vikings I still would have picked an L at Lambo yeah I have a loss here too the Vikings are one and four through the first quarter of the Season we move on to week five this game is in London remember M at Tottenham hot spur Stadium Aaron Rogers plays the Vikings for the first time as a member of the New York Jets it's the 830 a.m kickoff which everybody loves until it's their own team that's playing in it and then they go wait I slept in it's already halftime F uh all right Corey uh I'm gonna put I'm gonna go against the grain the Jets I think are gonna be they're going to be if Rogers stays healthy I think the Jets win that division but I think the Vikings win this game if Rogers is healthy it's a Jets win and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be healthy so I have this as a Vikings loss one and four I have the Vikings at two and three here we go moving into uh should mention the betting for that game uh for the Jets jets are fourpoint favorites 43 and a half total uh moving on to the Lions this game is at US Bank Stadium lions are three-point favorites on the road 4 point by the way what week six by so we're on to week seven you're right uh quick question Corey by the time we get to week seven is darnold still the starting quarterback yes or no yes I have yes to baring injury of course I have yes but it's not like a 100% yes it's more like a 65% yes oh you're that low I I think McCarthy's had a nice Camp so I think like if he not I mean it hasn't been great like he has been laying the world on fire they're potentially GNA be one and four 0 and five two wins M you know what I mean like it could be really ugly and it might just be a we have to move on situation that really does Exist by this point in the season you're right I think they run darnold for as long as humanly possible this year well and the thing about running darnold or uh running McCarthy out of the bye would be he run into the teeth of the the Detroit Lions and that might not be the game that you want to have with the Vikings being this meticulous about getting about developing him I think they're going to pick not the Detroit Lions for his first NFL start but it's the NFL things can change on a hurry uh I have a loss loss yeah uh moving on one and five uh two and four and now we go Thursday Night Football in La going uh the two time zones over on a Thursday night game to play the Rams yep and looking at the betting ODS for this one the Rams are four and a half Point favorites yep got I agree L this is another one where if Matthew Stafford plays it's an L yep if Matthew Stafford doesn't play I don't know who they're backup their backup quarterback is somebody like random uh it's not Carson Wentz because he was their backup last year it's somebody else either way I have the Vikings winning this one actually against the Rams I'm a little hopeful although the thing about being the road team on Thursday night is never a good thing correct that's that's the one thing that I'm kind of hedging on but I'm going to stand by my pick I think uh through the first what do we got six games of the year I think the Vikings are uh through the first seven games of the year I think the Vikings are three and four yeah no I have this as another loss all right let's go to Indianapolis this is a home game for the Vikings and they are onepoint favorites in this one 46 and a half point total yeah what's their quarterback's name again Anthony Richardson yeah so I think he's gonna probably be fun but this is essentially his first year it's only going to be halfway into his first year because he didn't play at all last year plus the Vikings are coming off a an extended it's a it's a long week plus it's not a bi-week but they go from a Thursday night at the Rams to then a Sunday at home uh versus the Colts I have this as a w all right I have this one as a win too so I have the Vikings clawing back to four and four in my schedule what do you have the Matt Corey two two and whatever then two and six two and six uh all right next game up the Vikings go to Jacksonville it's a noon kickoff down in Florida and if you look Cory uh on the graphic here it has the Old Jacksonville Jaguars logo which makes me think they're wearing their Throwbacks for this game which would be really fun they're going to wear their 90s Throwbacks interesting um at some this is to me this is my um mental hurdle I need to get over I I have certain people in my NFL fandom that I just like and I hold on to that likeness for much too long or dislike and I hold on to that dislike for for much too long uh on one end of the spectrum is um Kyle pittz who I end up having on my freaking fantasy team every single year and that's just depressing and by the way I'm going to be half-heartedly excited to have him this year because of who his new quarterback is it's I'm so annoyed by that Michael PX yeah yeah it it's gonna be pretty fun exactly so uh but on the other end of the spectrum a guy I like and I probably have liked and held on to that likeness for too long is uh Trevor Lawrence this is like the make a Break season in for my not nationally not professionally just for my brain um I still think Trevor Lawrence can be good like really good like gener like Elite kind of in that Elite tier like like who's you know like H Joe burrow like Joe Burrow's Elite whatever who's just like can he be Josh Allen like who's just under Joe burrow Josh Allen like that sort but better than Kurt Cousins I was gonna say because right now Trevor Lawrence is on Pace to be like AFC Kirk Cousins correct and I think he's better than that so I know who that I don't know who that is yeah I don't know who that is but I I just this is kind of my last year for this so I have this as a loss at Jacksonville yeah I have this as a loss too I think the Jaguars are going to bounce back I think it's on the road I think uh just all the things considered um I think that one's a loss okay moving on now to week and I should say by the way the Jaguars are four-point favorites in that game the Vikings have back-to-back games on the road and then they play at Tennessee they are onepoint favorites on the road against the Titans and I have this one as a win because I don't think will Levis is going to be anything first year head coach I think this is gonna I think it's a growing year for Tennessee and the Vikings are much better in their growing year and they don't have Derk Henry yes and DeAndre Hopkins is missing the first six he's up four to six weeks is does he get banged up again how old is he now 200 years old he's uh he's probably 32 which for a wide receiver 34 in that range this will be his 10th season 11th season I think yep I agree I have this as a as a Vikings win all right uh backto back to back road games they go on the road to face Jonathan Owens defense in the Chicago Bears yes they do uh this is a noon kickoff uh and if you look at the Vegas betting odds the Bears are threo favorites weird things happen at Soldier Field for the Vikings I have this as a loss I also have this as a loss this is probably about the time where Caleb Williams we'll know if he's figured in yeah so I have this as a loss also okay moving on to now the next week's game they come home for a couple play the Arizona Cardinals and the Vikings in this match up with the Cardinals are twoo favorites I have this one as a loss I think Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr is going to be really really fun so I I don't know for whatever reason I have this in my mind as a loss I am banking on a few things here one this is in the midst now of what I think is going to be a a little bit of a heater for the Vikings um with that like they're patented mid-season heater that they always go on and now we're talking about getting into the late season by the time we get through this but they've got a win at the Titans I have on the 17th of November a loss of the Bears I think they're going to beat the Cardinals to open up the month of December um a lot of that has to do with it's a be it being a home game and also even though I agree with you that Kyler um Harrison combo is scary Kyler's gonna be hurt this week for sure that's also Fair it's just I'm I'm just he's he's he's the Byron buckton of the Arizona Cardinals he's just gonna be hurt he's gonna get hurt and this is going to be one of them so I have this as a Vikings win all right week 14 the big one yes Kirk Cousins return as the backup quarterback and Michael Pennock and the Falcons roll into town in the playoff mix anyway uh this is Kirk Cousins return to US Bank Stadium this is going to be a big one it's a noon kickoff but it's going to be probably uh the big noon game that everybody wants to talk about at least if there's nothing going on I don't know maybe there's another game on the schedule but I have this one Corey I think the Vikings make a point to try and win in kir cousins return to US Bank Stadium I'm also going to throw the fact in this is a big game for Kirk and Kirk is not weird in big games but let's be honest he's a little weird in big games ain't he he's not quite comfortable in Atlanta yet I'm gonna have this one as a win for the Vikings he is great midday he's put up some uh incredible numbers if the Vikings I'm Gonna Be Sad on that Monday if the Vikings let the Falcons beat him yeah I have the Vikings uh winning their second in a row and three of four Falcons are one point favorites in that game so it's a tossup I think the Falcons are gonna be nice I think they're gonna be a nice team a nice team and a bad Division I think the Bucks are going to regress the Saints are going to be 500 like they are every year and the Panthers are an NFL franchise so yeah I think that's their division to lose I think they're also going to lose this game to the Vikings yep moving on to the Monday Night Football game where the Vikings host the Chicago Bears week 50 I have this one Corey uh and the Bears are onepoint favorites coming into this game by the way I have this as a Vikings win they always split with the Bears it feels like I don't think Chicago's that great this will be Caleb Williams Prime Time game uh and potentially by this point in the year we could have Caleb Williams versus J.J McCarthy which will be fun I I have a a there's a very strong part of me that thinks this is a Caleb Williams coming out party I don't know what he's got for Prime Time games leading up to this point but this is a Monday night game on the road there's this he the number one overall pick he has kind of that savior status pinned on him and if in week 15 he can go on the road I'm with you I don't think they're going to be great I think they're improved obviously and and better but if he can lead his team to a victory at a Monday night on the road in the division that is going to look very very it the people are just aren't going to shut up about him it'll be like one of those he can cement his rookie of the year status sorts of situations that being said what you said I agree with wholeheartedly they'll split with the Bears um lose in Chicago win at home I have the Vikings getting the win here they're third in a row and four out of five the fascinating part in these two matchups with the Bears will be Chicago has Keenan Allen they have romad dun who they drafted and they have DJ Moore who they just extended now Keenan Allen will be hurt by this point in the year like he always is at this point in his career I don't know how good romad dun is GNA be and DJ Moore has been a problem for the Vikings uh and the Vikings secondary right now is a problem in its own right so the Vikings lose it's not necessar like I think it could be a Caleb Williams coming out party because the Viking secondary will be and who knows how many injuries they have at that point completed and like they'll they're just going to run right over over top and and when I say coming out party I mean like just nationally it's going to have storyline not it's not matter what the context of the game was just the fact that he's gonna finish with like 300 yards and three touchdowns is gonna can I um can I ask a Chicago Bears question really quickly yeah sure name uh tell me the the wide receivers name again which radun yep so this is this is true for me it's not just you it's every time I've heard this wide receiver's name and I have never looked it up ever once in my entire life to know the difference I don't know if his name is Rome adun or if his name is Roma dun I have no idea what his actual first and last name is because everyone just runs them together and says romad dun I have it's one word to me I have no idea what his actual name is is the a at the beginning of the last name is it at the end of the first name who's to say it's a secret I'm fine with that I just want you to know that I have no idea because I've only ever heard in it's borderline when you said Brett far's name you would just say Brett Favre he was never just Favre he was never just Brett he was always just Brett Favre romad dun has always just been Roma dun and I don't know I don't know where to split up the names it is r o m space o d u NZ ah okay that makes the most sense but it does kind of sound like Roma doesn't it his name is Roma dun like the greatest pizzas you can have when you're enjoying them at 2 am on a Friday night it's get me that radun on December 22nd Corey in a week 16 matchup the Vikings go on the road to Seattle which again has always been a house of horrors for the Vikings the Seahawks are two and a half Point favorites at home uh I have this one as an l l yeah again Soldier Field Century Link Field both those places just whenever the Vikings go in there weird things tend to happen all right so the Vikings now have two games and these will be big at the end of the season against divisional opponents their home finale week 17 a noon kickoff Green Bay Packers uh looking at this one the Packers are twoo favorites I think we'll know by this point if Jordan love is legit or not I'm a hater I'm gonna say he's not legit by that point I think the Vikings get a split and they beat the Green Bay Packers in this game if Jordan lens up being who he looked like he was in the last month of the Season then then it's a now but I think it's a win so because I'm also a hater uh I'm gonna kind of combine these last two if if you don't mind in my analysis of this okay um I'm not I'm not like a Jordan love hater per se um I think he's probably fine he he's probably arguably even good he I don't know that he's really good I don't know that the Packers are really good I whatever I think he's probably I think he's probably fine I do think the Packers are probably gonna have a good year not a great year but a fine Year good enough to be in the mix to win the division yeah I think Detroit was on a heater a year ago and they've kind of been on a like a two-year ramp up to this things are going to be more difficult for them um but they're going to be right in I don't think this is like a 14- win team uh Detroit uh I I I I just I don't think things are going to go as smoothly for Detroit this year as everyone in Detroit hopes they will this is the hater Viking fan of me talking about both of these two teams that being said I do think Green Bay and Detroit are going to be kind of neck and neck for what should be a division title which means that week 17 and week 18 games against the Vikings are going to be very very very important for each of these two teams so and you can add up our wins if you want to if you've been doing so mentally we should also know that these games aren't going to be that important for the Vikings no probably have them closer to a wild card than I do I don't have them even in a wild card position I think Green Bay wins this game because they have to win their week 17 game on the road at the Vikings yeah no that's fair and then for week 18 I think Detroit will have to win that game to cement the division to cement the division so I I have I have losses to end the year in 17 and 18 lions are five and a half Point favorites in their uh final week of the Season uh I have the Vikings losing that one too I have the Vikings finishing eight and nine which will just miss the playoffs uh and what is your final record as you T you that I have a six- win season for the Vikings this year yeah and I think six to eight wins is pretty you know give or take I think pretty much kind of the most expected outcome for this team I think you had the lower end I had the higher end um one last question and then we'll wrap it up uh assuming JJ McCarthy gets a start in his rookie season Corey what is the most likely game you think that happens holy [Laughter] smokes um well it'll be if if if darnold gets hurt anytime after the buy he'll start any one of those games I think that's I think that's Nick Mullin is like the emergency quarterback like in week one if darnold gets hurt like they're not going to roll McCarthy out their week one correct yeah um I guess probably not till December yeah probably not till December probably that Arizona Cardinals game would maybe be the like we've had enough of this and then he comes in and if it's if if he comes in then and then the Vikings follow my win loss prediction he'll come in and win three games in a row and and and Vikings fandom will be in an absolute tizzy and Sol eye yeah so I think probably around then just because why the heck not unless he really turn some sort of corner here in the in the near future at training camp and it's very clear that he's the man and has you know in quotes it and it's his team um I if we don't we won't see him like he might play snaps but it won't be a I don't think it'd be a start until December yeah I think I'm gonna go just a little bit earlier in that November 17th game I think at Tennessee now I I I know you're picking Arizona to get the home game and that's probably what they'll do but I have this idea like you talk about of you know you have Tennessee that's a winnable game going to Soldier Field will be tough but you know basically like you have this very soft part in the schedule which like you talked about has a chance for him to kind of rip off some wins and whether it's him because of him or just he's the starting quarterback when the team wins it's just a good way for him to build confidence and the team to build confidence around him in the fan base and I think at some point during that softer part of the schedule in that kind of middle like third of the Season or that like third quarter of the Season where they just have a soft spot and by the end of the year when you're playing Seattle Green Bay Detroit teams that'll probably be competing for a postseason spot if you're the Seahawks and maybe even Atlanta too but like you know there's just by that point in the season your season's over and you're just trying to see how he Stacks up against some of these other good teams and then you kind of get a good idea of what he can do going into year two and there's a you know there's a world to where you could even go up earlier than that to that November 3D home game against Indianapolis right it'll be after that Thursday night game at the Rams it's like a mini buy for yourself a little mini buy but also we're talking about being you know again if you're looking at what I have for a schedule one and one and six by that point and you know Sam darnold can give the other team the football he's been known to do that if it's just as ugly and he seems incompetent which I suppose is in play here then why not be competent with the guy who you're trying to groom and and learn anyway so there there's a couple like I think obvious dates after that Thursday night uh after that Thursday night game when you get to that softer part of the schedule or anytime that darnold gets hurt post by all right one last question just looking for a quick answer here um let's say I know I made you pick a week for JJ McCarthy to start but just on a gut level what percentage chance is there that JJ McCarthy starts a game in 2024 I'm sitting at about 70% I think he does start at some point I'm not I don't think they roll darnold all year so are you okay can I'm let me ask a clarifying question and then I'll give you a of uh an answer okay are you assuming Health yes are assuming Sam darnold is heal all year or will get hurt well I get see I was assuming I'm just assuming at some point so I'm mixing in health there uh just I guess whatever you feel like is best because I would mix in health and I would mix in if you think Sam darnold's gonna get hurt in like week by week six or something like that throw it in there trying to be as realistic as possible if Sam darnold is healthy um I don't I don't think I don't think McCarthy starts at all I so what one I'll just whatever what's one and 18 what percent what's that percentage that that is my percentage I'll I'll give it a one and a if darnold is healthy going back to what I said before if darnold gets hurt post byy McCarthy could start any one of those games preby it's G
