the last time Shor and I going to make that walk after that last game there that's going to be tough guys like you get persecuted or or get wronged you start saying what's that about you and know getting along so well have there been anything that any on the players that have bought that you have been like no you need to go return that no no would you ever run for president Engish sh you [Music] we got a Hall of Famer an amazing broadcaster and now one of the hottest head coaches in all of football and he's doing it the right way but I got to give a proper introduction to this man he's the only man to ever play in the World Series game and a Super Bowl started his career as a quarterback at Florida State in case y'all didn't know then he transitioned to corner all right he picked up track and field for one year not even a year it was like two months and qualified for the the Olympic trials okay in 100 meter dash this man is one of the most dominant quarterbacks we've ever seen he used to get so bored on the field that he would bait quarterbacks into throwing passes to receivers CU he would make it look like they were open I'm talking about a man who used to do 360 dunks when he was a teenager and then go play in at the inter murals and then go play center field playing baseball this guy as his guy has his sons out there playing like their daddy's son or is that you said he got them out there playing like they they daddy Sons The One and Only coach Prime Deion Sanders welcome to the thank you sir first of all I can you introduce me please oh yes yes coach Prime this is my wife gret Griffin she is the best athlete in the family I feel like I know her because I watch y'all so much and your videos and the gram like I follow y'all like I'm a kid you know and I love the girls and know love what you're doing appreciate yeah no she's uh record holder of Florida State in heptathlon so Florida state Florida State see I didn't know that yeah okay this is a big moment for her too I know right you've always been great to me consider you family am man she's a huge fan and going to Florida State obviously knows knows everything well you keep a smile on my brother's face so I'm proud of that and you raising those kids right I love that she saved my she saved my life and she's definitely a lifesaver for them amen um um thank you for chopping it up with my sons they are crazy man they are crazy just they are funny I wish you would have threw Bucky in there because it's three different personalities you like junior is the calm right the older one to look out for the younger brother then then Shiloh is Shiloh right he's the one that God you you're going to have a daughter that he's going to keep you God's going to keep you on your knees praying like Lord please yeah it's always that one you know who's that one in the house we know and then uh shador who uh shador probably spent the most time with me okay so he's more like me than any of them because he spent more time with me than any of them right so that's kind of how the personalities break down you know what you saying that we going we definitely going to have to come back and and sit down and break bread with everybody but all y'all in there at the same time cuz that Dynamic I was just telling my wife like it's cool we've seen coaches have sons on the team yeah but the dynamic that you have with shadur and Shiloh and then you you know Deion Jr being the video it's it's something I've never felt and I can feel that cuz you actually was coaching them right here before we started and I do all the time commercial shoots anything wardrobe everything like like you can't you can't turn it off cuz you're daddy right yeah I'm not coach you're your daddy just like I told charlot I need to talk to you later he said the coach or the dad which one I need both of them need to talk to you but I love it I love it no and it's got to be cool to see um shadur right Heisman Trophy candidate yeah um Shiloh coming back trying to help improve his draft style that's right just how proud are you of just all your sons immensely uh the MVP is Junior because he keeps it together he keeps them together he's always uh selfless and give them just unconditional love to try to make sure they shine at all times um but the the unity that they have and seeing that as a father man is is unbelievable that's why this this year is kind of you're like I can't wait till it start but I don't want it to be over because this it this is it you know this is the last time Shor and I going to make that walk after that last game now that's going to be tough cuz you're thinking about I always think forward so I'm thinking about the last game what does that walk look like and where is that walk going to be right yeah that's going to be so emotional yeah you know we walk down the sidelines before a game together like we we've always done and we walk down as Father and Son but we walk back as coaching player yeah and the the things that we say to one another during that walk like what's your last name Sanders I want everybody to remember that I want everybody in the stadium to know your last name by the conclusion of this game and he like I got you and but I never know what I'm GNA say but those are some of the that's the energy of it and it's tremendous then I just go hug shallow hey man just go out there play man do you think cuz he's a little different yeah he's a little different how do you how do you manage you just talked about being coach being daddy how do you manage that the different commitments that you have to balance family right and being a coach well it it's not something that I manage it's a lifestyle this is all we know I've always coached them they've always had me as their coach charow is the only one who went to Carolina for a couple years then we uh reconnected in in Jackson so that's all we know they don't know no no difference they know my voice they know my sound they know my look they know my mannerism I know them like I know when shador is on I know how to what would say to him what to say to shalow what to say to Junior what to say to all my kids you you know you know what to say at any situation to your your kids and I and I I take pride in fatherhood I really do I take pride in family and you are now also a grandfather I don't know how that happened uh it's so funny that today is the first day that uh my grandson went home with the parents because there's you know light complications in the hospital but the baby's is healthy as as as ever so just seeing that picture and seeing my daughter and uh Q just just have those moments it's it's a beautiful thing and I'm thankful that baby girl you know waited till she was 34 you know that that means a lot because it could have been different it could have been it could have been different and the baby was born on your own birthday how special is that tell me how how how good is God to me think about how good is God to me I'm sitting in a press conference dealing with dealing with some bull junk and I'm sitting up here thinking do you understand that that my grandson is born today like how good and how much of blessing is that and I'm sitting up here dealing with this foolishness are you crazy you how dare you like that was my thought process I didn't say all that but that was my thought process but God is so good to me that he would allow my first grandchild to be born on my birthday that's amazing that's amazing yeah I mean a lot a lot of your life has just been prophetic feels like God's had his hand on your life this entire time you've inspired a ton of people including myself uh to to want to or maybe want to get into coaching MH but what parallels do you see between coaching and raising a family uh leadership uh first and for foremost not only leader not only leadership but understanding all the Dynamics it's like being a quarterback and seeing the field you got to see life and you got to see your kids and not for what you want them to be but who they are and pray them through the storms and the trials and the tribulations and understand that the deal is you don't have to be the best but baby you got to give me your best mhm now see that's the problem with athletic parents cuz you trying to raise you and you trying to raise you and we cannot do that God only made one so the best thing we could do is say you don't have to be me baby but I want you to be the best you and I'm going to hold you accountable to being the best you wow power that is I mean that's that's so powerful because I know you do a great job of bringing in former great former players to talk to the team you had Ray Lewis in here yeah and he's given the given an emotional speech about about losing his son so when you talk about those parallels between coaching and and family how did that speech to the team like hit you when you know you got your sons here with you um tremendously because you never think like that I'm such a positive thinker that negativity don't cross my mind like I don't even think about losing I don't to the last second sck off the clock and it is what it is but I never think about the worst of this the worst of that you I remember going off on insurance company who when I had a huge huge home in in in in Texas and you know God bless me I'm not bragging by anything but when I got the insurance bill I was like hey should I really do this you know or you got me God like why would I do this and if it you know like is that really going to happen I don't want to pay that I got a just in case I don't want to pay no just in case thing but but that that was a tremendous message and Ray was just so passionate about everything he talked about but the main thing was the work ethic we have the propensity to dream but in the the midst of the dream we never see oursel working right we see oursel in the car you know with the jury with the chains with the money with the count with the fame with the fortune all that but we don't see the work now how can we see all that in the dream but we don't see the work part of the dream yeah that's like hey wake up wake up it's some work it's some work that's got to be done you want to dream all this but you don't want to know about that it's um it's a quote that I i' I've said to myself a couple times over the past week everybody wants the glory but they don't want the his story they don't want that they don't want your story they just want the glory they don't want to know what happened behind it right that's why that word history is so special because it's for me it's his story that's right right and that Glory comes along with it but we don't see all the inner workings and the trials and the tribulations that God's have to go through the work you have to put in right to become what that final product is and when I see the impact that you've had on your sons and I see Ed Reed coming here and talking to the guys about football is war and Ry and his experience with losing his son does that hit you a different way when you see some naysayers out there talking about hey we we think coach Prime is playing daddy ball at Colorado I I don't know what that means I play the best man like anybody whove ever played for me they know if you could ball you going to play and if you can't you're going to be held accountable so I keep it a buck all the way around um I don't know what that means because there that only uh pertinent to me because I've seen some other coaches kids play as well and I never heard that right so is that just me come on now is that just me because of who I am and what I stand for and how I get down but man my critics got critics why would I answer a Critic I love it my critics got critics so I would be a fool to sit up here and entertain a critic that don't make sense to me um some things are fascinating and to much is giving much is required and my requirements are Hefty and I don't disallow myself to understand that hey man I can't want this and not be affected by that like if you want to be up that mountain you're not going to have extreme Talent with minimal problems okay so for you my brother I'm thank you God give me this for you what you're dealing with right now first of all I'm upset I'm I'm mad about what you're dealing with right now so we'll talk about that on another date because you're a good dude you're a good father you're a good man you're a good husband you're just a good dude that we all cut for and you going to keep it a bucket you going to keep it 100 on television and you're entertaining you're clean as the Board of Health you well spoken articulate and I could go on forever but when guys like that guys like you get persecuted or or get wronged you start saying what's that about but see I'm a man of Faith so I understand okay so you can't have extreme talent and average problems so if you have extreme Talent you're going to have extreme drama extreme foolishness extreme um uh adolescence you're going to have extremeness in your whole life you've always had this ain't no different right so why would this be different in this the life you've always lived mom extreme ain't she oh yes okay so how would you be sitting up there with extreme and not expect extreme it's going to be that you just got to weather it and keep on walking and no Flinch don't let them know they got you don't let them know they got you you just got to keep on going no matter what the day is no matter what the move is keep going God gave us everything to point forward to go forward and what we doing at a stand still a stepping back because we don't do that we keep on walking regardless of what they say what they think and how they feel that's what anger do that they can't affect us infect us why did you not prepare me for this interview I course you kind of make me cry over here word we like he said we we have been through a lot over the past week week and it's actually a week to the day as we're sitting here but you just spoke life into me yeah you spoke life into us and that's why I rock with you because I see the vision that you have and when it comes to your sons I don't think you're playing daddy ball I I I believe you are playing the best guys and it's okay as a father to want the best for your son yeah at all times but the the bottom line is they're the those two that are playing on the team and I know you consider you know Travis as well to be a part of that family they're the ones that are going to lead y to the promised line they can play right they can play cam Selman who spoke today in uh the banquet we just had one of the team leaders yep cam been playing for me since he was a junior yep so why did they forget about cam you GNA say Daddy but what about Ma you know what about all these guys I have relationships with I just love them you know and and and I you know I I kind of fathered them I fed them I love I love these young men and some of them didn't have that in their home these guys did but I genuinely love them I really want the best for them so Travis and I just don't talk about football or Cam as well we talk about life man we talk about making the right um actions with with your personal life as well as your finances man so it's it's much bigger than football for us yeah and you talk about that and the next question that comes is nil yeah right your boys your boy rolled up in a in a Rolls-Royce today today thank you right today yeah I'm saying that today we got I know what you man got some other some other some other things right so he rose up in the Rolls-Royce and we see him and we just got out of our our musty Uber cuz the Uber driver didn't put on deodorant y'all got to get some deodorant out here I know it was kicking his pits was kicking like a roty chicken I don't know what it was but to see that and then to also understand from your perspective you know what it's like when these guys get money right and you and we've seen some horror stories like how are you working to make sure that your players have Financial that's great we prepare him tremendously one of my dearest friends Richard Fain who grew up my best friend played for the Chicago Bears was one year after me went to the University of Florida he was in banking for 25 years I bring him in twice a year not only did you talk about financial literacy to teach these young men how to establish llc's to just teach them all about the finances of life I mean a whole tutorial and he they have his number we're about to do some other fascinating things with uh our kids our young men who have fathered a child okay yeah you'll hear about that real soon but I'm trying to build a total man not just the football player I want the total man because if he's strong over here and weak over here that's not the total man that's just a football player with a lot of talent a lot of ability that's going to be broke real soon so we got to match up U his intellect on the field as well as off the field and that's our job you know to prepare and give these young men weapons of life to prepare for this fight cuz this is a fight out there man right you know every time they Journey on the ground shoot they hunting and it's a fight okay like you got to know what time it is not only that I bring in and I I I I find somebody online on the gram that I think is very thought-provoking that is keep it 100 and I put them on the screen ask any question you want and she brings it and they bring it it could be somebody they like that they have interest with it could be like a auntie type it could be anything that was was going to put them up on game because that's our job right what did the oldheads do in in NFL we set the youngsters in the locker and say look man let me just talk to you about this we put you up on game and I got to do with it do that with my team no doubt about it it's different now in college you know like yes you have earlier you had to you had to make it to the NFL or to the next level to make the money but now yeah you're already in college you know you're already a millionaire so the problem with that is if they don't have financial literacy which it should be a class should be mandatory in college first and foremost as well as high school agre but if they don't have that they going to wind up broke again Y and see this broke is worse than the other broke cuz the other broke you never had it yes this broke you had it and lost it that broke is far more severe because now you're you're you're turning into that person that wish you could have and should have and would have and you heard one thing about God he always sends a message to you it's for you to receive that message or not and that's the thing these young men are making it and but the fames are at once upon the time man our parents they just wanted us to make it not for them just for us yeah these parents talk on it speak on it cuz I know what you're talking about you know every once in a while forget him a head coach and I want to say some stuff but I can't but the parents got to back up a little bit off the kids and let the kids have their day have they turn out if they want to bless you let them bless you right but don't that should be mandatory yes it shouldn't be mandatory because now the kid is right back where he was before it it's a darn shame for a kid to come and make hundreds of thousands of dollars in college then when he's done he's done yes that that hurts me I can't allow that to happen on my watch yeah I really can't and you and you talk about uh it's not just the parents right it's the Entourage yes right it's the Entourage that starts feeding off the athlet the agents A agents shouldn't even charge honestly agents shouldn't even charge these young men while they're in college I agree with if you believe in them that much won't you wait till they get it and get to Pros why are you in their pockets in college that don't make sense to me and is is somebody that knows the father he befriends the father now the father gets them to sign with this guy this guy really don't know what he doing really don't know how to get down but they got you a little deal little nil now he's getting a percentage percentage off of it and he didn't even tell you to pay your taxes so he's gone with his 20% Which is crazy he's gone with that and you keeping your 80 but nobody paid taxes on nothing right that's a problem it is a problem and it's you know I've seen it happen with uh players at GoPro that were in my own class right they they buy a house for mom dad cuz they separated right not a one family then they buy a house for brother and sister right and now you're you're you're spread so thin mhm that you can't even really take care of yourself or the bills that you got coming in but even on top of that if you give people something that they cannot maintain that's the problem now are you not only giving them something but you actually adding to your plate if I if you go by mom dad and sister a Rolls-Royce what happens if that Rolls-Royce breaks down right you paying for that and them Parts ain't cheap that's right and if when you start that you got to finish that because a lot of these young men don't have the the nerve to say no right that's one thing about me and that word no we've always got along we've always been the best of friends you ask my family we've always been kind to one another yeah so I've never had a problem with saying that and establishing the groundwork that no no no uh uhuh who was really there for me my mama the rest of y'all no right okay no and my mom ain't never asked me for nothing in her life you and no getting along so well have there been anything that any on the players that have bought that they have bought that you have been like no you need to go return that no no they try to hide it from me like I get here so early I really don't and I don't park where everybody Park so I don't really get to see the parking lot but I heard the parking lot is pretty phenomenal oh oh it's ridiculous is pretty phenomenal oh it's unbelievable it's a variety of whatever you desire out there but the problem is with that they got to do their jobs you know we don't share information and I don't even get into the finances of I don't want to know because I'm going I'm going to feel a certain way like if you ain't balling that de and I know we just gave you this I'm going to feel a certain way so the best way to do don't tell me they just keep me in the darkg I don't want to know because I'm here for football and we've had some instances where recruits are come in and want to talk money with me and and uh first thing I say you go you get out I ain't got time for that don't talk like that with me talk like that with them I'm here to talk about football and what you want to do with your life now that's how I get down I don't I don't do that other thing I'm not good with that I'm not good with a kid coming to my office want to talk about money first let's talk about the scheme right talk about how you going to fit in this defense of this office let me talk about what you going to contribute and how your practice happens here cuz I'm looking at film right now you're kind of lazy so how we going to improve that instead of talking about this bag that you owe cuz this bag right now I'm see it got holes in it got several holes in it right now no I I completely understand it but do you understand the significance of what you're doing here at Colorado we talked with with Shiloh and shadur predominantly white state right right 66% I looked up the numberers 66% white 3% black right right that's uh that's half of this room that's yeah half of this room that's that I mean that be you Shiloh shadur and Travis you know what I'm saying like to be able to bring the swag the attention you mean show up exctly that's how we show up I listened at the uh at the luncheon five of the top 25 games throughout the year for a team that has been the intersection of sports and culture right we all know you 4 and8 was last year but I also know that the amount of games you guys are in that were one score games means closer than people are giving you credit for but do you understand the significance of like doing this here we we we don't we don't think like that and it's not the target we're just who we are like anything we've ever done even from growing up in the inner city and and going over to the other side of town to play baseball going over to the other side of town to play football stand right here to play basketball okay I'm on a plane now for my first time time me and my family you know when I was seven eight years old never been on no plane before I ain't no so my game took me on that plane you know but seeing those things and doing those things we've always been different and God has always taken us from this to this to change that right always so this we don't look at it any different um it's the same formula that we had in in youth football that we had in high school football that we had in Jackson State that we have now we hadn't changed the formula it's the same formula it's just different customers so when you when you hear guys like Paul fine bomb calling your program irrelevant M you know but he talking about us how can we be Irrelevant in you talking about me yeah like every time I turn around somebody sending me a quote that you talking about so he's a fan how well the thing about a fan you got to understand a fan only blows when you hot ooh I'm going to go away from come on man I'm writing these down man yeah a fan only blows when you hot so we must be hot I love that right I love that so so I know what he's doing and I'm proud of him that he's smart enough to understand that this generation in this thought process and the way we communicate on Sports is different yes and he's a Dying Breed so what does he have to do to stay and keep up with this change oh I got to go find that big bad wolf and talk about it yeah so now I keep my relevancy and I'm like cool but I'm not going to help you I'm not going to add to you I'm not going to respond cuz that's what you want M yeah you just want me to respond I don't do that I'm not going to help you come up I love it listen there's so many layers to that reference that just made he said I got to go find a big bad wolf that's right and he got that Gray beard right look at that's right it's always a subliminal in there L um so Florida State uh you want to ask me Florida State question you got it no you got it go for it no no no goe it you get why'd you pick Colorado I was definitely rooting for you to come to Florida State um I think that was the option early on I'm going to stay away from that okay uh we we I'm a praying man first and foremost and God never sends me where I be comfortable he always sends me where I'm uncomfortable that it's my job to make things comfortable so I can't be mad at the decisions other colleges made by me not going that way or I'm not being received there I think we made I don't think I know we made the right choice for what God desired in my life the same thing with Jackson see the thing about nobody saw Jackson nobody saw that move yeah yeah he did he saw that move I didn't even see it and I prayed about it once I prayed about it I saw it but this move right here it happened at a restaurant I called all them I said hey God just spoke to me man we're going to Colorado that's where it's we coming come from I said Rick we coming that that's where that that that slogan came from so God always sends me to desolate places to to to do some dominant things that's amazing yeah I mean you have dropped so many gems today here I'm like I don't even know I I'm with RG3 I got two I don't listen um you clearly take care of your players outside of just football and you you teach them things that they were going to need down um down the line in life that's right and you preach them a lot about women and how to treat how to treat the women and how they should be treating the workers and the staff and the women in their life like where where does that come for you how how important this that that comes from my mama okay um my mama worked her butt off so ends would see each other they never met U my mom never saw me play ball wow in high school now you got to understand I'm him my himy about football baseball and basketball okay and nobody there so I got to take this tough bravado off me sometimes when when when guys get a little sensitive because I have that I I have no sensitivity in me to feel sorry for you when things ain't going right like come on let's man up you know let's man up because I looked over there with nobody there when nobody hey come on you nobody there no sport nobody there because she was working I didn't hold it against her though but I just said you know what I got to do something about that I got to get you off the job I got to get you off the job and the respect that I've always had for my mother transcends everything the way I treat women the way I look at um the custodian the way I look at the cooks the the everybody that plays a tremendous role in this University that's not in the light I just got so much respect because my mother was a housekeeper you know at one point my mother cleaned up Lee Memorial Hospital was a custodian so I have so much admirations for the little things because the little things are really big things because she made that a big deal everything she did did to the best of her ability so that's why I have the tremendous amount of respect for women because of my mom man you preaching yeah you preaching right now everybody in this room is is uh is the better for getting a chance to listen to you appreciate you boss and um I'm sitting here and I hear you talking about your mom and and I talk to your sons about about you yeah right and about black fatherhood yeah right it gets a bad rap in society it does but you you do you think you've inspired people to to want to be better be be better fathers to do right see the thing about black fatherhood women as well as men African-American we think we got to be perfect and we don't come from perfect so how can we ever be perfect we just got to be present right I just need you back in the day you know y'all are a little young but when they call Ro when I was in class we you said here we raised our hand right we don't do that no more we ain't there we just need you to be present you don't have to be perfect just be present when I coached Youth League uh in Texas we had we had 1500 Kids come out for a during trial I mean we had one of the biggest youth organizations in in in the country and I used to call the fathers get the numbers from the mothers and call the fathers with the broken relationships the broken marriages and say look dog I I don't even need you to come to practice just come to the game though I just need you to sit over there and just tilt your when you shorty look at you just tilt your head that's affirmation that's like yeah he did that he just want affirmation from his dad I just want you just to be present man so that's what we need to do as black fathers and we get such a bad rap for a multitude of us hadn't been fathers so we don't know and we trying to figure it out see back in the day I had I had Fred sford I don't care what you said but that relationship between him and LaMont was real I had George Jefferson you know moved on up to Delux apartment you know that relationship with with with him and his kid what was the what the George son I forgot it just that quick I had it in on the tip of my tongue it wasn't uh I forgot his name but liono he had two Lionel remember one with the FR one other Li had two liel the relationship was was tremendous and all the the African-American fathers that we grew up with we I used to watch them and see that connectivity that they had with their sons and it was just so DN phenomenal man I would mimic that we don't have that on television right now right we can't even think about a relationship with a black man and and the son on television so now we turn to sports it's true and we making a comeback everybody jumped you know why they jumped on lvar ball because he was present no and he was speaking out for his babies that's true he's like I'm he y'all my son's going to be this my son's going to be that they a believe him two first rounders later yeah and three playing pro sports the other one's overseas you got to give him love man 100% you got to give him love you you got to give run love yes you can say what you want he's been there yes he's supposed to pave the road he's supposed to pave the way for his baby he's supposed to do that y last time I checked everybody else doing it yeah ain't no fun if the homie can't have none huh I guess we can't do it but they no we are making a tremendous comeback and I absolutely love it man I'm just trying to fulfill my role in doing so and and showing people a glimpse of it and not only glimpse of the the the gentlemen that are are married like you all our wonderful relationship I'm a divorced father but I didn't stop fathering right one custody of my kids that I never stopped fathering right you know by myself working in CBS and working at NFL Network never stop fathering so I've been at whole time so no matter what life presents you don't stop doing what you've been called to do never stop fathering I built my life around my kids yeah the the moves I made was based on my babies not me it was based on what was good for them so I take pride of that ain't no baby daddy I'm a father oh come on now come on now you preaching yeah because you know I felt in many ways TV sports tries to take you away from your family yeah and they'll say well you can't be a great dad that's a and a and a great athlete and a great broadcaster and and and a great you know car salesman or whatever it may be but you can you can you can you never let one take away from the other that's right and that takes real dedication it does it it takes a real uh person with you as well to understand your your plight and your toll and where you weak at you got to be strong 100% and where she's we get you got to be strong so you got to be you got to have each other back that's what relationships are and and this it's going a different direction but I just saw uh our brother Tyrese yeah on The Breakfast Club yeah man and he's talking about the thing that he's had to go through yeah and how a lot of times as black men the perception is we have to be strong can't cry can't talk about our emotions that's right but we need to be checked in on as well ain't nobody checking us they don't care for us like that do we we you know not calling you out but we we don't get the we don't get the nice stuff Mother's Day they get all that Father's Day we get some little funky socks or a little tie or so brute by Fab you know we we we get something like that I'm sorry Brook I apologize you you took me to my childhood but we don't we don't get the gifts that others do and we should be appreciated not just tolerated man yeah it's so true I fully agree I fully agree um so just we Flash Forward right it's next Thursday I can't wait I'm ready it's game day we ready what's the mindset uh mindset is the same mindset we we we picked up time the season was over I made a uh initiative with the scouting Department with everybody we brought in here we going to run the football and we going to stop the run those are the number one and two things we're going to run the football and we're going to stop the the run those are the points we got to do that once we do that we know Shor can spin it right and we got some dogs on our back end that can cover their butts off I mean three of them are probably uh pre three of them have a potential cornerback wise to go pro after the season wow yeah and then we got some safety that's that could bank they come down to get the job done but the thing you're going to see you're going to see some past rushers that are unbelievable four to five of them that could go get that quarterback man and we just got to have those big guys in the inside the hold up because it's going to be hard to block us right it really it really is of course everyone wants to know 52 sacks last year for Shor yeah he's will you be able to protect yeah you're gonna be straight and uh that comes along with being the coordinator Pat Uh Pat Sherman is awesome has a pro mentality um Pro thought process a lot like Rob Lion on the defensive side those two guys are phenomenal and I can't wait to for them to display what they have and what they come to the table with man shador is going to be straight though back there he is I'm excited about that cuz you know you give him time you know you know come on dog you know like you you give him time it's it's going to be a it's going to be surgical you know what I'm saying you had that phrase when I was playing you said you down with RG3 yeah you know me you remember that dog listen oh dog we had all kind of stuff for you man as players as players we remember we remember those things we used to say that when he was balling you down with RG3 in the whole set that you know me it yeah yeah yeah you took it over boy you took over the league man good Lord you came in there took it you know I was right down the street in in in Dallas while you was doing your thing in Baylor so I was right there watching stuff closer like good Lord where this cat came from you know and you had your style you had your swag but you was making astute decisions good reads and all that stuff and I'm like this dude is different then I heard you articulate yourself he different he different he different he he he gets it he gets it man and I yeah I always appreciated your support and it's kind of what we talked with shadur about yeah as an African-American quarterback the standard is different different and like for me when I came out everyone was like oh he can run right I'm like man that ain't it bro I can run don't get me wrong I'm Olympic Olympic level Sprinter I don't want so so is coach you good girl there you go she already know so is she by the way that's right and can I represent the kids can I I just you want you want I just going to put some on can I put offer can I put nil on the kid hey they crazy athletes but because of her you know and she's the one that has been on task more often than I am when I have to go away and do call a game or I got to go play she's always been there so she's been the been the rock uh that that makes that happen but you know for me looking at you and everything you've been able to accomplish it's been nothing short of amazing I appreciate it yeah people don't ever get to see behind the curtain of what happens yeah they just see the show in front behind the curtain there's a lot going on no doubt yeah there's a lot of focus there's a lot of determination there's a lot of walking away from folks there's a lot of holding your tongue and turning the other cheek there a whole lot of that going on and that ain't G to stop because that's who God called God called us collect you know that right and we accepted the charges there you go all right so we we we we got we got to pay for that cuz he called us collect and we accepted those charges so I know you're a guy that loves the grind yeah right it's been a long offseason yeah lot of things have been said what do you love most about the fact that come Thursday love college game day what do you love dog everybody love the results in the game I like the journey man I like the Journey of of getting there you know the Journey of of not the trip like we drive from here in the veil and when we get the veil it's going to be run for we going to get this snow mobiles and shallow on snowboard grown M ski and all that I like the Journey of getting there they like getting there again I like that Journey that's what I like so I love that I I take pride in the journey does that does that does the journey feel more worth it when you see the fans when you see man that Stadium could be butt naked man that St be butt necked out there for me now I love it I I I I I respect him because our fans are selling out like crazy they the Stadium's going to be sold out app apparel's going to be sold out everything's going to be sold like crazy but it could be naked out there man I just I can't wait to to show what our our young men have done this offseason to see the Journey of who they are and how they get down and what we have have assembled in the lab I can't wait for that you you said that people mostly see everything that you do you know when the when the lights are on and everything but they don't really see what happens behind the curtain but in front of the curtain mostly people have only seen you just win yeah so how do you instill that winning mindset into your players well it's a lifestyle it's like nothing that I'm trying to force on them or I'm trying to push in in into their Spirits is it's a lifestyle so I put winners in front of them even uh um L rdick I had him on I brought him in so like guys that that you may not know their record but that guy's a winner like when you hear Lou talk like shoot you like darn why is he a GM like he's be a GM somewhere when they hear you when they see you they're seeing you just when they see all these guys that come they're associated with success so when all these celebrities or these people of influence come and they're able to just give them a gy or just shake their hands and they see them it's it's it elevates them and I don't have to be that sound in voice at all times because sometimes you know Mom and Daddy gets monotonous but when the grandparents come over there can say this and that then the kids straighten up right you know that's true and that's a great question because you had 90 was it 95 some odd transfers over the last two years and you're going up against a team in North Dakota State that's won 17 national titles that's right right they're the second winningest program in the last 10 years no pushover and they're used to winning you're bringing in all these guys and trying to instill that winning into them how do you overcome that and how do you get them to buy in so quick well I ain't selling nothing so that that we don't have to get them to buy into nothing um second of all just being consistent U every coach on the staff probably eight out of the 11 position coaches have come from the NFL and they have a track record of being successful so when they're around success and you're being told and you being challenged to do things that will grant you success you got to adhere to it like we're in this generation where people use the El all the time and all these kids have a navigational system we're just trying to be that navigational system to get them to their dreams and their desires and their goals that's all we're trying to do they just got to just listen just listen just listen I promise you it's going to work and we don't feel like we got nothing to prove we just feel like we just got to go out there and do what we do yeah yeah I love it coach you always talk about you always talk about your faith yes right I can't help but I always want to finish all these with faith what does God mean to you uh everything um all things um the reason I'm going to be successful in life consistently is because God trust me he trust me with success he know I'm not going to lose my mind when he grants me success because he he's always granted me success and I've always given him the glory before they write the story right so that's why I'm going to be successful he trust me in the midst of anything and everything we have that type of relationship it's almost like a friend of yours like the wifey like you trust her so she going to be there for you cuz you trust her she trust you you got her that's the relationship I have with the Lord he trust me before we walk off that field Thursday night he know I'm going give him the glory so he's going to make sure I'm straight not that he's going to give me favoritism over my opponent right but he's going to give me favor [Music] has that helped you yeah just over the course of your life yeah tremendously because with the push back the push back against your style not only as a coach but even when you were a player right has has God and your relationship with him helped you in facing that yes because the Bible says in this world there's going to be tribulation I didn't understand that until tribulation start coming consistently uh especially those who walking with the Lord not walking against walking against you it don't it don't make makes sense but God has always been my rock in my salvation so I'm cool that he know I'm bold like I was bold when I had to Club you know I was bold when I sleeping with two or three women at a time like I was bold then why I wouldn't be bold now right don't make no sense like like I was you know glorifying the devil so I'm G to glorify the Lord cuz he got me and he's giving me peace so no that's why I don't give a d what they say what they think I got peace right I'm good cuz I know who I am how I am where I'm going know how to get there this might seem like a question off the beaten path but when I when I look at your story what you've been able to do as a Hall of Fame player broadcaster as a dad as a coach very well-rounded right you've lived a lot of life experiences would you ever run for president and get shot you I heard a gunshot when you said that oh my they got some good Security Guys we ain't like that right we ain't ready for that you said if they shoot Trump yeah you trouble I don't want even get the mic I'll be just sitting down hey man I ain't even got that yet you no that's right oh no no I wouldn't even R president of the school no I'm good I'm good with my life n it's been a great life and um gotta ask these two questions just from a journalism standpoint what happened with uh I think it was Coach Riley um yeah uh Trevor it's interesting because I'm trying to take care of him because I love him I love him as a man I love him as a father um my prayers for Trevor is just that that it comes together right it comes back together like Trevor we didn't fire Trevor and everybody knows Trevor is my guy like I had love for Trevor and I try to support him in every way imaginable the thing that I can say the most man I'm praying for Trevor man right and you know when a brother say I'm praying for you you know what time it is I know what time it is so I'm praying for Trevor and he knows that uh I heard you mentioned during the luncheon how was that flight back from Saudi yeah it was good good that was a good one that was a good one that was a good one yeah that a good one that stuff is crazy I heard so much stupid stuff right here right I think the dumbest thing is is this summer has has been when we forced everybody to go to the concert to hear Shor rap that was wait I missed that what happened yeah they say that we told the whole team that they had to attend the concert cuz Shor was performing after the spring game forget L Wayne forget L Wayne who else was there Big Boss Man Dow YG yeah forget all them but we we forced him to go to the concert because they had to hear shador yeah concer free too now concert was free yeah but we forced the team who wouldn't want to go see all those other guys and wouldn't want to support their quarterback that was that was that was funny that that was one of the best ones but we got time we got time they going they gonna come up with some better ones oh no doubt about it s was good too last uh song was good yeah I enjoyed the song yeah I'm not just saying that because you're here yeah I asked sh shador when he's dropping his next single and he's told me he's probably already shador has about she know probably had 50 something Bucky now Junior has probably hundreds of songs he said that he listens to his brother yeah Bucky is good he Bucky is talented sh Shiloh does beats okay yeah he's does beat he's the engineer type guy I asked them both what what do you listen to before the game and they both said themselves yeah that sounds like them sounds like a Sanders to me don't it sounds like a Sanders to me all right we good appreciate brother and uh still on because I do want to say this with the camera still on Coach what happened to me last week you called me and that meant everything to me yeah you my dude man so you talk about as black fathers as black men a lot of times people don't check in on each other that meant the world to me I want you to know that but you a good brother man like you you don't bother nobody you don't mess with nobody you don't talk about nobody you thought provoking you're entertaining you're clean you're a great husband you're a great man we got to support that so that foolish the they did dog I don't know what God has plans but I know it's mighty and I can't wait to see the results of it I'll show wish I had a vehicle to put you
