David Morrissey interview at Into Film Awards 2024, Best Film 11 and Under Award

so how does it feel to be here today and why do you think it is so important to nurture young Talent particularly from diverse backgrounds and across the country yeah I mean I've been to this award ceremony a few times and I think it's really essential really you know when I was growing up it felt like other people made movies you know that it was a closed shop it was sort of uh you had to have gone to Oxford or Cambridge in order to make a film really so the more we can make it inclusive for everybody to tell their stories yeah uh and also from an educational point of view in terms of an audience you know we want people to be informed audiences and know the choices that can be made in order to make films and television so it's essential really and it's great that the industry is giving back in this way and you've had such a diverse career what would be your top tips or advice for young people thinking about it maybe thinking like you say or it's not for me yeah I would say get involved I would think you know don't think about you know where it can take you as a career where you can go from when you're adult do it for now do it for telling the stories having fun enjoying it find out I I would say just get involved and also you know you can make a film on your phone now so you know just get to know the equipment get to know uh the the the sort of Hardware that you can get and and tell your stories it always starts with a great script it doesn't matter about the hardware great writing is the main one and can you tell us what you got coming up next I've got a TV show called show wood which I did last year the second season is coming out and I've got a new film a new TV show with Amy L wood called daddy issues and that starts in August you got any uh things on your bucket list you haven't done yet people You' like to work with genres you like to try so many I've got so many that's what keeps me going but we haven't got time for my bucket list another day thanks so much really enjoy the day thank you
