good evening and welcome to the fulam versus Leicester City Football Club postmatch analysis show uh my name is enil maybe I should call this show the postmatch analysis show but um that jokes for you but let's take a look at the second game of the Premier League season sadly a defeat this time round at Craven Cottage away to Fulham let's look at some of the stats here overall it was quite an even game although was it really we'll have to kind of decide that fullam shading possession although I think that overall they they definitely dominated the game can see here from expected goals Fuller 1.72 Leicester just a 0.53 so us getting a goal is probably a bit generous and that said we had 10 shots made their goalkeeper make four says we had quite a few Corners in fact scoring from one had quite a lot of passes again managed to out tackle the opponent got a lot of free kicks so I think it's fair to say that we were competitive in the game although for a team that finished 13th last season in Fulham and who are resting 55 million pounds worth of players who they signed and didn't even play I think fans might be a little bit disappointed with the result um me too although I don't think it's terminal I'm going to explain why as we go through Today's Show let's just take a quick look at the Match ratings so man a match by a mile in this match was Andreas Pereira um I'll talk about that in a second second for Fulham I think he had an extremely good game for us I think probably the key you can probably see is Harry Winks only getting a 6.5 I think Fulham did a great job of preventing him from being effective uh Bobby de Cordova Reed returning against his old Club Fulham didn't have the best uh show I have to say we have to look at what why that was and vardy well vard's clearly not match fit so I think these Match ratings are pretty accurate you can see that wild fast was technically our man of a match I'm not sure I would agree with that but he did score so I guess he's going to be getting some flowers for that particular aspect H let's head on okay so let's talk about the starting lineup here so we played exactly the same team as we did last time round so that's pretty easy to say however this time round we had Skip and IU on the bench uh and that was interesting to see we also had Samar I don't think too many people please see him on the bench although he featured no part at all um no Michael Golding no will Alves I think it's safe to say those two are probably going to go on loan because they're not featuring into the first team at the moment although they may play in The Cup game that's coming up next As for Fulham they also made no changes so this is their particular lineup and that was a bit of a surprise because I thought that yok Anderson who they've resigned from Crystal Palace and sand de Burge would at least be on the bench but they decided to rest them and they were just watching on from the sand and that is kind of scary to show you that teams in the Premier League can sign that amount of players and not even play them they did of course play ail Smith row who scored one of the goals and had a good uh appearance well good performance with them overall I thought okay so the game started and we've said that this is their formation that Fulham are going to be playing a 4-2 31 but something that stuck out to me very early on was actually this guy Andreas Pereira and the positions he was taking up and it seemed pretty evident early on that I think Fulham had watched our game on Monday against Spurs and they recognized a very good plan to cter the way that we would play and a way to make us ineffectual and for me this is actually the central reason why we lost this game and why I think we struggled the whole game long to really build back to front and and make good chances despite making a lot of passes overall in the game and yes that's this guy Andreas Pereira X-Man United and what I think Fulham did is they actually pushed him up to make more of a 4141 and why did they do this well they did this because they know that the way that we build is with Harry wings and Wilford and D playing together and here get the Andreas Pereira number 18 and he's pushed up here to try and prevent Wolford and Dei from receiving the ball and try and reduce his Effectiveness in the game overall however it was a little bit more nuanced than that the way that they played and something that's pretty clever so as I say this is the big partnership for Leicester wolf anded and Harry wins but have a look at this picture which I think is very interesting so here you can see that Harry Wings there's actually two men that are attracted to him and here's wolf and Dei and there's someone here damat tror who's certainly got his eye out on wilver and de but he's nowhere near as close as Harry WIS so what's going on here so this is actually something called a pressing trap so what Fulham are trying to do here is they're trying to say if you pass it to Harry wins which actually we do here you know you're going to be in trouble because there's two people to get the ball off you so therefore we want you deliberately to pass the Wilford and de instead right they're actually trying to make it look like he's the free man and you should play the ball to wil and de but that's the Trap because if you do that what they're going to do instead is they're going to Target you so here again this is mads of the kick and we can see that Harry Wings someone's moved in front of Harry wings so they want to block the passing Lane so this ball from mads to Harry Wings cannnot be on they're trying to stop that however you can see that Andreas perea is pushed up here they are happy if the ball comes to wol and Dei because if the ball comes to him Andreas perea is going to jump on him jumping meaning move from your current position and go to another position and and try and rub the ball of him uh and this particular inance actually managed to to play out and indeed he does well here but in the game it was a bit of a mixed bag here in fact a little bit later on um I was going to say that if you look Below in the description I'm going to post a link to Fox's talk and on there I like to put a lot of the animated gifts and videos which showcase some of my examples that are given a lot more clarity but what happens in this example is the ball kind of ricochets and it gets played up over to Indi and this is a difficult ball to deal with aerially but again this time a different player jumps on inded it's actually Sasa lukage wins the ball and Fulham end up having an opportunity off this move so again you can see what they're trying to do and I think this is an interesting shot that I've taken here because you can always see up here in the corner at this point in the game Fulham had 70% of the ball so similar to the Spurs game they achieved in a different way Fulham were really good at containing Leicester by stopping us from ever getting going they were like okay you want to play it to Harry Wings we're going to stop you from doing that we're going to trap you into playing into IDI and when IDI receives the ball we're going to take the ball from you and that's going to stop you getting going and that's going to give us initiative and we're going to win the game by doing that and overall that is exactly what they did and that is exactly why they won the game although it was perhaps closer than um you know it wasn't like a runaway success for them so talking about wlf and D this is like a different example and this shows you both the good and the bad because I want to say that I don't want this to come across as being negative towards WF and D because he actually had quite a good game overall similar to the Spurs game it's just that some aspects he's very good at and some aspects I wouldn't say he's poor at but he's getting targeted at and that is a structural issue for the way that Leicester City play and it is something that is making our overall Effectiveness as a team less strong as it could be so here mad has played it out to W fast and W fast you know we like to play out from the back just like we did last year we want to do that this year too so he's going to play the ball into W and de so and gets the ball and he receives it and look he's under three player pressure but there is actually an outb and the out ball here is to Victor Christensen so he's going to play the ball to Christensen however what happens is that player that you can't even really see in the picture actually I think he is this guy actually so I say that wrong but full and recognized this and someone jumps now because I can't show you the video because we're on YouTube the pass that indeed he plays to Christensen it's not the best it's a bit weak paced it doesn't really get there firmly and that gives fulam the opportunity for summon to jump in and Rob the ball and get it off Christensen and now they've caused the transition and now they might have an opportunity now actually what happens as a result of this move is we actually get the ball back and indeed he helps get the ball back I have to say Bobby Reid who didn't have the best games overall did actually come back from this position he drops back in to help indeed he recover the ball and indeed he gets the ball back and now he can turn and he's facing towards a goal and this is to show you that indeed he sometimes I feel like we say he's really poor and a all but I think that's a bit unfair and I don't think he's terrible he just may not be of of a kind of elite standard not everyone can be Ry for man city right there's a reason why he is one of the best players in World football so indeed he receives the ball here and he actually plays a wonderful Crossfield ball to Abdul fatau now it's quite high but fatau is good he's quite tall he's 63 strong he manages to jump he chess it down and he manages to get it down here to uh this is actually Bobby Reid again Bobby Reid then manages to to play into no sorry this is fundo Buon yes because Reed is here he managed to head it down into Buon Buon does really well here um again I was quite impressed with him I think he faded as the match went on but he uses his physical strength here to resist the Challenge from Fulham who are trying to press us and Rob the ball back he manages a spin and now all of a sudden we have a move on ourselves so Bobby Reed Now Fair Play to he's just dashed back back to do the defensive work now he's pushing forward and he's going to make a run into this area and VY does really well here because he's occupying two players but despite the fact that he's occupying two players he makes a clever checked run to drag space and make some space for Bobby Reed to run into so what ends up happening the ball comes to Bobby Reed and again look vard's attracted these two players here so Reed's got quite a lot of space here and he decides to have a CH a shot and although the shot um is saved by The Keeper it was overall quite a good move um so that was encouraging to see but what we've seen there is that's showing you both the good and the bad of our buildup structure which is that if we can make it work we can generate chances from it but what Fulham did overall in this game and and that's what I'm going to say again is is why I feel they won the war if not this particular battle is that they stopped us from doing that as much as we would like to do and that's a structural issue that if we want to play this way we need to fix going forwards H and we have mentioned in the past that indeed instead of playing in that double pivot position last season we played Ricardo Pereira and we now have signed Oliver skip who I'm going to come to a little bit later on and it might be that that's what we need to fix going forward otherwise I think that this will be something that any team will look at this video and be like this is the plan that we need to do in order to beat Leicester just set a pressing trap for Indi okay moving on in our pre-match show we said that one of the key battles we thought was going to be Victor Christensen versus Adama trayor Adama trayor is just welcome to the Premier League physical strong fast can push you around round I would hate to have to mark someone like this and it was christenson's turn to try and deal with the deadly Adam trayor today um and how did it go it was a bit mixed I I don't think he was terrible but equally I don't think he was brilliant what I found interesting is not only did Christensen be responsible for looking for tayori but he actually followed him around the pitch if need be so here we can see the two of them have a kind of get together full and pled to trior and trior actually runs all the way from here makes a run all the way across the pitch dribbling with the ball into Center of Midfield you can see that Christensen follows him the whole way but this actually turns out quite well because in following him Harry Winks can then step up and the two of them together can act as a kind of like double buffer and we managed to rob the ball and actually Wings gets the ball he manages to play it and he plays it into vardy but but we lost possession so that was a bit unfortunate but in that particular instance Victor Christensen actually did quite well but overall I think it was a little bit 50/50 I don't think it was terrible but it was certainly a little bit of like okay welcome to the top league so why I want to bring that up is that was indirectly responsible for the first goal that we conceded so Fulham have just signed Emil Smith Row from Fulham we know he's a great play he's had some injury struggles but when he's not injured we know he's a Class Act and he did show that today so this goal comes from a move where Fulham get the ball they decide to play it long from The Keeper this time and it comes in here they're trying to Target munz who's their Striker who's replaced mitovich to try and hold up the ball so vestard decides to push up and try and head the ball away from him and he gets some contact on it but it's not necessarily the best you can see here that then the ball kind of Ricochet off this direction and here it goes to Adama trayor you can see that Christensen is following him but here you can see already if this isn't immediately obvious that we are in trouble why are we in trouble look at vard's position bestard is not the fastest he's out of the game right now he's not going to be able to get back in this move to to make a meaningful difference we've got JJ here so he is in a good position we've got someone here ready to to defend and we can see that with trayor he's got two men on him so it's going to be hard for him to push this way so most likely he's going to pass the ball over in this direction but the reason why we're in trouble is you can also see Emil Smith row here in the corner and he's also on the prow and as we see as the move develops this is what's going to cause this issues so yeah p is on the MST Thro here's James Justin James Justin now is in a little bit of a difficult position as the move progresses Fu I have to be honest with you doesn't do a good job in running back and you can see that Smith row gets the run on him and gets forward so now JJ's in a difficult position who does he go to does he go to Emil Smith row or does he go to Alex aobi and it's a little bit doomed if you do doomed if you don't sort of situation here if he decides to go to Smith row Smith row could just play the ball down the line to AE no one's there to get him he was the last man back JJ when this move started even though to be fair to FAS he has actually managed to get back here and so is Harry wins so decides actually to go over to iobi um iobi then passes it to Smith row sorry yeah he goes to follow iobi but actually Smith row has the ball then he decides to move across to try and stop Smith row but by this time it's too late and you can see that f is you know a bit slow to get to the PACE and then they Smith manages to beat him and puts him a great finish into the top corner and that's one nil to Fulham and that was a little bit unfortunate I don't think you could say at this point in the game that Fulham did not deserve their goal they made a really good start and I have to say that overall I think Marco Silva has coached this team really well and they play really nicely together they aren't a team necessarily made up of star players but the sum is definitely more than the parts from FR and they play some really nice stuff which we will show in a moment and this was a good move but it was a bit unfortunate just because it was kind of an ugly one and you know here maybe vestig guard's a bit better in the air he can head it out or he can head it back over there to winks and and really it's just the case of transition this often happens in the Premier League that after the ball comes off vestard it's a bit of like a 50/50 what's going to happen and any small error in the Premier League you're going to get punished and we got punished for this move so that was a little bit sad so at that point in time um y it's one nil to Fulham kind of keeping on a Victor Christenson theme it did appear that that might have been something that they targeted here's another move that Fulham have a really good opportunity mun just heads it slightly wide but you can see that um they've put in across I think this is AI who's played the cross in over no sorry that's Smith Rose drifted again to the left and he's put in a great cross and here munas has peeled off to the back post and rather than trying to go one for one against either vestard or fast they've recognized that Christensen is probably the weak link you can see that he's jumped All Above him christenson's trying to stand strong but neither jumps nor really Stands Strong and moon is it's it's a decent effort and it could have gone in another date this time it didn't but there was a little bit of a warning sign so that's something that we've got to watch out for what does it mean going forward does it mean that we're going to bring in another new left back um I doubt it personally although I would be concerned because Christensen can't play every game I think we play Luke Thomas here will get murdered if I'm being honest they would probably put JJ on this side I imagine bring Ricardo onto the other side that's why I suspect although it might come on to Ricardo later as Steve Cooper had some interesting comments about him post match right so this point in time it's one- nil to Fulham and after this goal the game still kind of continued as it was Fulham still had the majority of the ball they looked like they were making more chances I wouldn't necessarily say that we're running away with it but it it looked like it was going to be a long thing of it let's put it this way but one thing that's really interesting this season is that in the summer we lost not just our manager but all of our coaches which is pretty brutal given we just got promoted but when Steve Cooper came in he did make an interesting appointment and that's this guy who's someone you probably don't know about but this is Andrew Hughes and he came from norch and he was their set pieces coach and under norch they scored a lot of goals from set pieces thanks to his coaching um and if we look at us so far Leicester have normally been pretty poor you have to say both from conceding from set pieces and from scoring from set pieces and actually prior today I can't even remember the last time we did score from res set piece but we did do it today and we did something that was a bit clever and we also didn't concede and we didn't concede against Spurs and res set piece either so I think so far so good to this guy but let's obviously see how it goes over the course of the season so here's what happened we have a corner and it's a pretty simple one and pretty routine it just gets played into fast and fast is a pretty simple header in so you might think okay there's nothing too sophisticated there but actually the thing that we did was clever was here vardy standing just in front of Leno so we can see that the way that Fulham have set up here is they've decided I guess to sort of say we're going to prevent you from doing any kind of flick on in the near post and we think if it comes any deeper than this then our keeper is going to come out and be able to punch it away or grab it I'm not sure if that's something that they looked out on the pre-match uh maybe they looked to the way that Lessa did it because I've got to say that otherwise if I was F him i' be like well why is indeed he completely free and well fast completely free unless they're trying to like provoke us into playing across in this direction but anyway vardy stands here and it's subtle enough to sort of get in away as the corner is played he moves forwards a little bit to make it look like he didn't totally block him but as we can see here what happens is fast heads it in it's pretty easy now this one went to V and if this would have got called off by or sorry struck off by V that would have been absolutely outrageous they were trying to say that vardy was offside but come on he's not getting he's not blocking the Viewpoint he's not even blocking the path um and luckily the goal stood um I've got to say I absolutely hate V that was one of the few good things last season about the championship is that when a goal went in you could celebrate it instead in this game had we scored or had we not scored in the end luckily we had scored but you know it's it's not great as a viewing spectacle but y I just wanted to say that that I think was um a well worth set piece something very simple but it looks like we are adding something to our repertoire it was also good to see that actually for the corner we actually found man because that was something that we often struggled with and I believe that was um was that Harry wings I think that must have been fando Buon there with the the corner there with the his left foot I will check that postmatch so still that was something that's nice to be seen right talking about W fast um he was our highest ranked player probably for scoring that goal and I do think that overall he was good but one thing that I didn't like that he did and I've got to say for some reason we're doing this a lot this season and that's that we're doing these sort of weird kill flicks in some quite often stupid positions so playing out from the back this is actually something we knew fulam were going to do and we thought it might be something they were susceptible to but I think maybe we were more susceptible than fulam were in this match so mad has got the ball here and he's going to play the ball out here to fast and there's nothing wrong with that and he's got plenty of time if need be although it's dangerous he can play the ball into vestard he could play the ball through here or just play it long so there should be no risk but for some reason what is he doing here he's decided that this is the perfect position to try and do a back kill you can see my facial expression not too impressed I guess he's trying to play it to Christensen but I mean what ends up happening is the ball unsurprisingly gets robbed here by trayor trayor plays it into mun and mun puts it wide but this is just an entirely avoidable opportunity that should never have turned up in the first place but it did so this is the problem with fast we often say he's got like an accident weight to happen or he's got a mistake in him and there was just no need for him to do that there and you know if it wasn't for that then I think he'd have an even better display overall so it's just a bit weird that that he does that and does he lack something in his concentration I don't know it's something he's got to need to work on because you know if you end up losing a game because of an error like that it's just so frustrating because you know the other team doesn't even have to work for it um at least with the first goal whilst I think we could have done some things better on that you know there was some good play there over and they've won the ball back on the transition here's just a giveaway which is really poor right so anyway at this point in time it's still 1-1 and we're into the the second half and that was pretty good for us I don't think we deserve to be one1 but we were but then unfortunately Alex wobi scored and I want to talk about why this go happen because this one I think is really frustrating because although I am not going to take anything away from foram I think they thoroughly deserved their win they were definitely the better team on their day this goal ah it's just stinky so again prematch what we talked about is the way Fulham play is they like to use these triangles and rotations now even though this is from last season so not all of these people are playing anymore because Williams moved on Kenny was on the bench jnez was on the bench as well they like to do this you would have seen this as a feature in the game is they like to play the ball around between themselves and then they basically trying to find somebody to get in behind now in this case I've demonstrated an example it's the fullback but it's not always the fullback sometimes it can be the wide forward they take it in turns and that's really clever because it means that when you're defending you're not really sure which one you should go to and if you make the a mistake and you go for the wrong one then someone's going to get in behind you and that's exactly what happened for this particular goal so um the ball's been played out from the keeper the ball's been played here into Robinson and JJ's decided to jump from his position where he would normally be so here we can see vestard so someone actually asked me on one of the forums they said okay what does jumping mean so normally when you're in football you're supposed to defend the position and maintain that position and that way you're keeping the same amount of space between you and your other players so you're set so wherever the ball comes you've got adequate cover in the right positions so if someone's going to beat you or score a goal they've got to do something a bit special right now of course you have the concept of pressing so pressing is good sometimes you want to run forward and try and win the ball back quickly off the opposition to cause a transition moment so you can start attacking yourself and there's nothing wrong with that we know how effective pressing is but the issue isue is is that if you jump and you jump at the wrong time a good team is going to exploit that because you're going to be leaving space so you can probably already see this in this picture JJ should really be leveled with bianic vestard here but because he's jumped forward right there's now space in behind him and in fact there is no one now behind him and wins if you look at wings's position he is actually not goal side of iobi iwobi's got past him so the problem is is that ball over the top is iobi is completely and utterly free here's those positions there again and so what we can see is as the move continues now W's got the ball and now we're in big trouble again speaking about Yanik vestard he's not got the pace to get back to try and put a challenge in here and I think a lot of people will be saying well is that a big fundamental flaw in a Leicester team maybe maybe I mean I've shown now two examples of it but I want to say again that in both cases I don't think it's directly his fault right if you struck your team in the right way you can do things to get round round some of your deficiencies and play to your strength Yanick is usually good on the ball and overall I don't think he had a brilliant match but I don't think he was terrible so wins is run running back like crazy to try and get back fast is here but can fast make up the distance Christians in a team is in a team for his Pace as well but chrisan to deal with the wing on the other side he can't be involved and you just look where JJ is JJ just because of his jump is now completely and utterly out of the game and the problem is with the way that we play because we're playing with vestard we're relying upon JJ to get back and help him out on the transition uh I think a good example of this is Kyle Walker both for England and Man City he's been in that team for years because he's so fast that allows Man City stroke England to play certain ways because you know you got someone who can get back the other way to help you out if you get into trouble but if that player is caught out of position even if you're as fast as Usain Bol you can't get back in time so it comes to aobi and by this time vestard has of trying to get back to try and put a block F has got here aobi makes the shot Hermon actually almost saves it maybe he needs to learn a bit for from schmeichel and do a bit more of the starfish but it's a bit unlucky and in the end thei just Powers it through it goes past Hermanson and it's 21 and so that's just really unfortunate and so yeah coming back to this what's the lesson here the lesson is is that we just need a bit more practice on the training run JJ shouldn't be doing this jump if Harry wins isn't goals side of the man or the way that playing we know that for f have got a three-man forward line so if he's vacating um it w be here who's on him and in this case Winks is not on him so that's a mistake so unfortunately I think that this mistake is down to JJ if he just sat back here and Robinson's on the ball what's he going to do with it you know he's going to have to hold it up if he if he waits he's marking a position we've got a play on him already here which is f so there's not much he's doing so basically this is a completely selfin Ed wound and I think that's really unfortunate because do you know what prior to this I actually felt that a big difference between the two halves is we were starting to deal better with the Fulham rotations and it wasn't working anywhere near as well for them they were definitely the better team in the second half but I felt like they were running out of steam a little bit as well and it was probably going to come down to substitutes to see if anyone was going to get a winner and we were starting to look more competitive and sadly that's given it away right now I want to talk about with the Cordova Reed so he's a player that we signed from Fulham Fulham know him all too well and you would think that maybe sometimes player against that old team they really want to show what they can do and and remind that team what they've done for you even though to be fair I don't fulam wanted to get rid of him they just didn't want to offer him as long a contract as Leicester would do and I think it's fair to say that right now amongst the fans fans are not impressed with this signing and today I've got to be honest with you it doesn't paint a great picture so looking at his stats he didn't win any Jews neither on the ground or the air and he lost possession five times um I did show you an example just earlier today of him doing some good defensive work getting back to help out a teammate and then running forward to support the attack to making it to generate a chance for himself um but look he is starting in a team madidi didn't start and you know does the team look as good I think you know the answer to that I don't need to answer that for you um here's something that I wanted to kind of point out so the examples of him losing possession what happened is the ball comes into vardy vardy plays a nice little layoff here into Bobby Reid Bobby Reed gets the ball he's got now a run in on there on goal I think he actually would have been offside here even if he' have done something with it but the point is he gets the ball and he neither goes to the by lines AC cross with his left foot nor Cuts back in with his right foot to get a shot away and fulam just deal with the the threat very easily and play their way out of trouble and this is Premier League you know he's supposed to be a premier league player that's adjusted to the league and can make an impact he's playing instead of madidi and he didn't really do that much going forward so the rating for him today he was quite low ranked he was the lowest ranked player in the first game too um it's only been two games so I'm certainly not going to you know immediately cast judgment on someone but I don't think he should be in the team based on these two performances and I think it is affecting the team going forward um especially when at the moment a striker is Jamie vardy now Jamie vardy is the goat he's the greatest player of all time for Leicester city there is no doubt about it but he's 37 years old and more importantly he has had no preseason he didn't appear in any of the friendlies he declared himself fit for Monday but he hasn't got the match Fitness and I think unfortunately it showed in today's game um He was largely isolated but in the second half he started coming to it a bit more and again this is something that's a bit frustrating because you can see here that it's 1-1 at this point in time and I think in the past what happens is Victor Christensen received the ball here and he LS this pass over the top to vardy and I think if this was 2015 2016 and you saw this sequence you'd probably be thinking oh I think Leicester about to score here because the ball's going to bounce vard's going to run onto it and he's going to finish it that's what he used to do in the past and he was truly aite at that but unfortunately modern day Jam vardy hasn't got the pace so the ball drops and unfortunately he he can't beat anything for pace and in this case it's Calvin Bassie Calvin Bassie gets back and manages to defend the situation and that would be a potentially good opportunity that that we've wasted now I imagine that if he wasn't injured Pats and Dak would have been starting this season and Dak I think would have got to the ball now would he finish it that's a different story I never said that but I think he would have taken the move a little bit forward and look to be fair if vardy was 100% match fit maybe he could even have scored it but it did look like he was struggling a bit and to kind of add further weight to that argument a little bit later on we make like a nice little move here Bon not pass it back to vardy and vard's got a few options here he could go for a shot but you know they're sort of blocking his shooting Lane but the clear ball in is here to play to P or even he could drop it back here for the onrushing um is this Harry Wings Central attack midfielder coming forward to potentially score but in the end the move just broke down and he tried to play it to F but actually uh who's this Anthony Robertson manages to cut it out and again the move is wasted and that's not really like vardy I think something vard did really well last season under Moresco is even though his role changed he actually showed that he could link up play before people thought he had never be able to do that he's a very intelligent footballer um he doesn't get enough credit for it and he's actually very good of his decision making and I suppose his decision was right in some ways to try and play it to the but he just couldn't execute it maybe as I say because he's not quite match fit or not quite on it and that's unfortunate because otherwi you consider that move and the move that I've just shown behind you know there was a little bit of an opportunity there maybe we could have got something you know I I think I'm pushing it a bit to say that like we deserve something else but there were some half chances there so you know that was kind of story of the game um now I want to move on to this guy so Oliver skip also came on we've signed him for 20 million plus five in variables and he's coming to the team and later on after we're two1 down we did make a change and in the pre-match what I suggested is that we might even have started the game like this and that is to play Harry winks and Oliver skip together and to push Wilford and Dee up as a 10 now by this point in the game we'd made a few Subs but as you can see here we did sort of do that so wilf is pushed up to be one of the attacking midfielders at this point Jordan a has also come on the pitch and he's come on as a striker we've actually changed the other attacking midfielder from bonate to madidi um and you can actually see that Oliver skip is standing here so we are doing this we're doing a double pivot of the two former Spurs players and we're pushing indeed forwards and I actually think that this gives us better overall balance going forward and I think it could be the solution solution to the problem I said before where that otherwise teams will Target and with the pressing trap if I compare the two of the players together again I just want to say here that I indeed actually overall had a strong game he had a good rating lots of touches of the ball extremely accurate passing percentage 91 percentage over 39 passes and he didn't just pass it sideways and back he made that really good Crossfield ball uh he made one cross he made some long balls you see three of them were accurate he had a shot he actually dribbled past it people few times look how many ground Jews he won that's really what he's in the game for um but he did lose possession eight times because he was targeted he made three fouls he was fouled once himself but he did do some clearances and blocks so we know that wilon Dey from a defensive point of view is good he's good at winning the ball back he's actually not terrible on the ball either but Oliver skip when he came on well he didn't really come on for that much amount in time but you can see he did win a jeo he did manage to dribble pass someone he did lose ones to be fair I've got to say here but did have some overall passing accuracy but what I noticed when receiving the ball and again going into the description to see some of the clips I've got of him they're not the greatest Clips but here we can see that we played it through to skip and Skip as a nice little lofted chip pass over this is it w be into another man and we managed to continue the move going forward and I think that's not the sort of thing that indeed he typically does so I think that look the way that the team is structured is that these two players aren't really necessarily here to to win the ball although they do need to leave their share of tackling but they're there to help us build out and play out from the back so we can even start and I do feel again that that was generally the problem in our match today that we just couldn't build out and couldn't get going um but here wilf DD has pushed forward and he was able to win the ball up there and he's still being aggressive and his skip could you know help dictate play alongside Harry WIS we could also have played Ricardo as I'll continue to say but I will say that in these particular positions I could understand if the thinking is that Ricardo may not be physical enough to play in the double pivot in the Premier League especially if he's playing alongside Terry wings I don't really buy that I think we'd have to try him and see if that is or isn't true like we're trying Bobby Reed right now why not try Ricardo in another position right because Ricardo is someone that's been one of our best players for years um but I'll stop moaning about it I do still think the skip looks quite good in that position and regardless it does give us additional cover because you know last time round wink say he started getting a bit tired around Christmas time his performances started dropping so something that we could remedy this season with that signing just want to quickly talk about Jordan a um I think he was all right when he came on to be totally honest with you he had one free kick which was awful and he should not have taken it and I cannot believe he was even allowed to take it to be honest with you but other than that we can see you know um dribble attempts he beat a man he had quite a few touches he managed to keep the ball up and Link it he made one key pass he made a cross he won three jaws and although he did lose possession once he was also fouled twice he won free kicks in dangerous positions for us so he was okay and look I I'm not going to delude anyone we've signed someone who's 32 soon to be 33 but I think you saw why he might have been signed because he's a useful impact player to come on and he gives it everything and he actually the team did improve he's got what I call that okazaki effect okazaki even when we won the title I think he only scored five goals but yet when he was in the team the team performed better that was a fact and that's why he got in eventually over a joa and and kept his plays for most team and okay okazaki got removed after 60 minutes but he certainly played his part during that title win and was hugely integral to the way that we play um yeah just to say with au there was obviously the question of where would he play and in fact in our pre-match analysis there's another one I got wrong I said that you know his season heat map for Palace is he showed he was playing on either Wing but today um Cooper decided to play him up front given that we were behind given the fact that vardy was tiring he probably wanted that front pressing to try and force someone into a mistake that's how how he was deployed um and I don't have a problem with that I guess my problem is is this gentleman here in the picture which is madidi well in that case why did we wait for so long to put madidi on given that Bobby Reed had an overall poor game I thought it was because madidi was going to be the striker replacement for vardy and that's why he wasn't starting so look come on Steve I think you've got to play Stephie to start in the next game I think the next League game is against Villa so um yeah that's going to be a tough game if that's the case so that's just I'm but yeah just to call out I don't think he was terrible he done half decent and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on and I can actually see why he's in putting a team and what his role would be because when we're behind we're trying to push up and make something happen although maybe if I'm being critical I think after we went 2-1 down did we ever really looked like scoring not really I kind of feel like we huffed and we puffed but we never looked like we had the quality and that I think is the big concern for us this season we know it's going to be tough the big golf between the champion ship in the Premier League right now I just want want to go over what I said would happen before the game and how the game actually panned out and see what was true and what wasn't so a lot of crosses unun but some things all right so I said it' be a much more even game and technically 55% possession to 45 possession perc possession I should give a tick because I said that's what I felt it would be but I thought that was a bit of a lie I think fand basically dominated the ball and when we got possession was in the last two 10 to 15 minutes when they were two1 up and they just wanted to protect their lead and although they protect their lead they were not hanging on it like I said once it was 2-1 I think it was pretty much game over I did say the game is likely to determin for both teams by moments of transition and that's exactly what happened so in the end it wasn't because either team particularly created something beautiful out of a beautiful flowing move it's because the ball broke someone jumped at the wrong time someone exploited the transition and scored and in fact both the fullum goals came from that way we scored over a corner and I'll be honest with you most of the games in the bottom 10 teams in the Premier League that's how they're going to be determined um I said i' expect a much more aggressive start from us that wasn't true either and that's maybe something that I think was a bit of a disappointment in the second half against Spurs why we were so good is all of a sudden we stepped up we started getting stuck in we started winning the ball I do think indeed he pushing further and further up made a big difference there in this game we didn't fulam quickly got on the the front foot as I say Marco Silva's decision to use Andreas Pereira to push up and Target and DD didn't help us in any way shape or form but look I spotted that after about five or six minutes so you know what we could have done something to maybe get around that you know I know players don't or managers don't like to make Subs very early on but sometimes you've got to recognize an issue and think of a different way to deal with with the matters um I said that Fulham have a number of new signings that may feature and unfamiliarity may help us but that wasn't true neither sander Burge nor yok Anderson came into the team so they just played the same team that they played last week and if anything I think they look pretty familiar I think that like I say other than maybe Andreas Pereira no one really had like a superstar game um but they didn't need to they just played well together I have a good coach Michel Silva won the championship at caner with Fulham and has kept them up since then he's doing a really good job there and I was quite impressive for I've got to say um said both teams will have chances I mean technically that's true but I don't think that's really true of leester an expected goal output of 0.5 we got a goal so that's lucky but it's luck kindness is that we didn't really deserve to get a goal and if Willam have won 2-0 I don't think you could say that was unfair I did say it might come down to which team has more quality and I would say that was true so V had the few moments there where y could have found someone to put us through and give us an opportunity a few times we could have played out from the back but indeed he got caught on it because he didn't have the technical quality to be able to navigate through the Press whereas with Fulham you know the ball breaks to Smith row and he has a really good touch and manages to do a good finish and it woi exploits the gap on the transition runs all the way through and does manage to score and that's maybe the difference it w be himself I believe cost 30 million Smith R another 30 I mean when's the last time we signed the player for 30 million I think Yuri Tillman's at 32 million probably all the way back in 2019 is the last one and yeah my kind of final closing thought so teams are going to continue to Target indeed in the buildup and that is going to prevent us from getting going I don't think that's really a surprise um we kind of predicted that and of the season it's like the obvious thing that you would do as I said not trying to blame Andi here I think he actually adds a lot of value to the team but that's the obvious way to go about trying to stop Leicester it has been for many years now in the Premier League and we need to think of some way of solving it and you know playing the double pivot was a thing that both Brendon Rogers is tried now Steve Cooper is trying but I think the answer is as I'm kind of picking my next point is to not use Indi as a double pivot and I think it's likely skip will start next to wins to resolve that he's been signed for 20 million so you know I think this Factory going to do that um you know I suppose we could always use Hamza chalry or Ricardo Pereira I think Ricardo Pereira could play that position he's got the techn technical quality to play out Hamer I think would have the similar issues to Indi though he may start in a cup game V's not match fit mentioned that before and I think a lack of a striker will cost us you know you need goals to to survive in a premier league ER it's an interesting one because I think before the general consensus was that if you can see too many goals you're going to go down and for sure Sheffield United conceding over a 100 goals last season is definitely the reason why they went down but if you look at how many goals Burnley scored I think they only scored 31 or 32 it's not enough you need to be hitting like 40 to 50 goals and then even if you've got a negative goal difference you know goals can win you the games in the in the six-point battle against other relegation teams where it's just keeping a clean sheat and getting nil nil isn't going to do that so it's really unfortunate Daka got injured maybe some people would say it's not because we to sign the striker we're not using cannon fine but to rely on a 37y old vardy to keep you up in a season where you've got a points deduction we've got to bring someone in um I got a feeling it's going to be drro F from Chelsea I don't know how he'll be we'll have to judge it if he comes in let's let's talk about that when that player has come in uh Bobby Reed shouldn't be starting based off his first two appearances he's probably the lowest scoring player overall across those two games I've not been too impressed I don't have a problem with signing a player in their 30s at the end end of the day how good are you on the pitch if you're good you can play but he hasn't looked too good so far that's just a fact but look overall I do think that people are overreacting to this defeat I don't think we've looked awful so far we had one bad half I think actually that first half against Spurs was much worse overall out of the four halves of football that we've played but it's a fact there is a golf in class and quality between the championship and the Premier League it's never been so big for of I think I was really impressive them but they finished 13th last season and yet they fairly comfortably won this game so that just goes to show you how difficult it is they were playing at home we didn't have everyone that we might want might want ideally not everyone's up to match Fitness but neither did they like I say 55 million P worth of Talent on the bench they might sign some more players as well who knows so it's going to be a really big Challenge and we've got to try and be more competitive we might have got away with a 1-1 that would be kind of good if it happened but I don't think we' have Des deserved it so that's going to be the question for us how do we cross that Chasm how do we deal with it I personally think you know having less possession and playing more of a counter attacking style I think that is the way to go personally I think the game that we played against Southampton at the back end of last season when we won 5 nil Southampton more had more of the ball but got demolished nothing wrong with that in the Premier League Most teams are going to have better technical quality than us so trying to dominate by a possession I don't think is the way to go and in fact I saw the stats for the Southampton game today they had I think 65% possession but only had one shot on Target and Forest beat them they only beat them one nil but I think they had something like 24 Shots in the match or something crazy like that so it just goes to show you that that probably isn't the approach to go there um but yeah look there you go that's my tactical analysis of the game um like I say I'm going to leave a link in the description there it might not be up right away but it's going to link you to the foxes talk for a great for and on there I like to put like more detailed pictures and explanations to kind of be the accompany and guide to this video um as always please let me know what you think um these videos do tend to be a bit longer but I think it's important to be quite thorough about it I am wondering if I should do this as a live stream instead of as a video so let me know if you think that and yeah just please give your comments um it's the thing that I'm trying to bring uniquely to the kind of content creator space I think when people do their postmatch analysis in my opinion they don't really give a proper insight as to what happened and it's all a little bit vague and Superfluous um I don't mean that to be critical I just think that you know that's a space that could be exploited that on TV they'll never give you as in-depth analysis as what I'm trying to do here and I hope that you enjoy it so I'll be quiet now this has been the Neil this has been for Fox's sake and the postmatch analysis show thank you very much for watching and see you next time Sarah
