>> THIS IS ABC, 15, ARIZONA AT 5. WE WANT TO GET RIGHT TO OUR WILDFIRE WATCH RIGHT NOW. WE'VE GOT 2 FIRES THAT ARE FORCING EVACUATIONS RIGHT NOW. THIS IS CONCERNING. THESE PICTURES OUT OF SCOTTSDALE, FLAMES JUST FEET FROM HOMES. THIS IS JUST NORTH OF THE MCDOWELL MOUNTAIN PRESERVE. AND IN THE SUPERSTITIONS, THE SIPHON FIRE IS GROWING TONIGHT. IT'S HIGH WINDS FUELED THE FLAMES TONIGHT. WE DO HAVE TEAM COVERAGE FOR YOU. CHIEF METEOROLOGIST AMBER SULLINS TRACKING THE FIRE DANGER. ELENI DOW IS AT THE SITE AND FIRE BUT WE START WITH MERS. U.S. ARE BACK LIVE IN SCOTTSDALE AT THAT FIRE. MARISA. >> KATY, AT THIS POINT, WE HAVE JUST HEARD FROM THE SCOTTSDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT THAT THERE IS NO CONTAINMENT AND THIS BRUSH FIRE BEHIND ME HAS ACTUALLY GROWN IN SIZE. ORIGINALLY THEY WERE CALLING THIS THE SAND HILLS FIRE. IT IS NOW UPGRADED FROM THAT. 25 ACRE BRUSH FIRE INTO AT LEAST 80 ACRES, POTENTIALLY 100 ACRES. AND THEY ARE NOW CALLING THIS THE GATE FIRE. I WANT TO TAKE YOU TO SOME VIDEO FOOTAGE THAT WE SHOT JUST ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO. THIS WAS WHEN THE PLANE WAS OVERHEAD CIRCLING IN THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO DROP AT LEAST 3 OR 4 ROUNDS OF THAT FIRE RETARDANT IN THIS AREA WERE 100 28TH STREET AND RANCH GATE ROAD RIGHT NOW. THIS IS WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO SEE THOSE DROPS FROM THE PLANE. SCOTTSVILLE FIRE TELLING US THAT THIS FIRE IS MOVING IN NORTHEAST DIRECTION. CAPTAIN DAVE SAYING IT WAS REPORTED THAT THAT FIRE STARTED IN A PILE OF DEBRIS. >> IN ONE OF THE HOMES BACKYARDS HERE, SCOTTSDALE. POLICE ORIGINALLY TRIED TO EVACUATE ALL STRUCTURES AND HOMES, EAST OF RANCH GATE ROAD AND ONE 32ND STREET. MOST OF THE STRUCTURES WERE UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN THIS AREA. MANY OF THE HOMES ARE NEW BUILDS HERE. SCOTTSVILLE FIRE, HOWEVER, CONFIRMING THAT ONLY 2 HOUSES NEEDED TO BE EVACUATED AT THE TIME. I WANT TO TAKE YOU BACK LIVE NOW TO THIS SCENE WHERE YOU CAN SEE THAT LARGE PLUME OF BLACK SMOKE. THERE ARE A LOT OF DEPARTMENTS HERE. THIS WAS JUST UPGRADED TO A SECOND ALARM FIRE. OF COURSE, SCOTT STILL IS HERE. DAISY MOUNTAIN FIRE DEPARTMENT IS HERE. PEORIA, PHOENIX, CAVE CREEK AS WELL AS THE DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE. SO AGAIN, NO CONTAINMENT ON THIS AREA AT THIS POINT. THIS IS THE GATE FIRE NOW AT A MINIMUM OF 80 ACRES, POTENTIALLY 100 ACRES. THEY ARE TRYING TO GET A LINE AROUND THIS AT THIS POINT. CAPTAIN FOLIO TELLING US THAT THIS IS ALSO IN THE BURN SCAR AREA OF WHERE THE DIAMOND FIRE WAS LAST YEAR. THAT IS HELPING TO SLOW THE BURNED JUST A BIT. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, IT IS KIND OF WINDY OVER HERE. AND THAT IS NOT HELPING THE SITUATION. OF COURSE, WE'LL KEEP YOU UPDATED AS WE GET ANY MORE INFORMATION FROM FIRE OFFICIALS FOR NOW REPORTING LIVE US. THIS ARE BACK FOR ABC. 15, ARIZONA. YEAH, THOSE WINDS ARE CONCERNING. HIGH WINDS FUELING THOSE FLAMES AS WELL. >> THAT TRIGGERED EVACUATIONS, PUTTING SOME COMMUNITIES ON NOTICE. LET'S GET TO ABC, 15 FELONY DOW. SHE'S AN APACHE JUNCTION FOR US TRACKING THIS FIRE. THIS ONE HAS ALSO EXPLODED IN SIZE OVER THE LAST 24 HOURS. >> YES, THIS IS ACTUALLY CALLED THE SIPHON FIRE. AND WE'RE A LITTLE WAYS OUT FROM IT. BUT YOU CAN STILL SEE HOW HAZY IT IS BACK. THERE ACTUALLY STANDING NEXT TO THE LAST ACTION IN STATE PARK WHERE STATE ROUTE 88 LEADING UP TO THE FIRE IS CLOSED RIGHT NOW. THE FIRE STARTED ON SEPTEMBER 10TH AND IS CURRENTLY NOW AT MORE THAN 2300 ACRES UP FROM JUST THE 80 ACRES YESTERDAY MORNING. FIRE CREWS ARE NOT ABLE TO REACH THE WILDFIRE FROM THE GROUND BECAUSE OF THE RUGGED TERRAIN. SO THEY'VE BEEN USING THEIR RESOURCES. THERE ARE MULTIPLE EVACUATIONS IN PLACE RIGHT NOW, INCLUDING CANYON LAKE AND TORTILLA FLAT. SOME HOMES ALSO IN SET STATUS IN THE APACHE JUNCTION AREA. YOU CAN SEE THOSE LOCATIONS ON YOUR SCREEN RIGHT NOW. I CAUGHT UP WITH THE CO-OWNER OF TORTILLA FLAT AS THEY TRY TO HOPE FOR THE BEST HERE TO HOPEFULLY MAKE IT THROUGH THIS.
