[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and how about that for a Phillies win 11 to2 they take the second game of the series over the Kansas City Royals welcome into postgame live presented by Cado Insurance Ashlin Sullivan Ricky Bo here with you the star of the night of course JT Ruto two three-run home runs but also as well Rangers for us so good to see him back with the Phillies and did exactly what he needed to do Ricky Ranger was come on he he was back into his old form I mean is a guy that he goes out there he tries to hit the inside Corners to the right-handed hitters he was spot on there and I think that that kind of just carries his game plan it was a real really good outing for Ranger I know he got a little bit tired there towards the end his ball started elevating a little bit kind of got himself into trouble but Cam went out there gave him a little bit of a breather and he seemed to to kind of take it back in and finish that thing out I mean Rangers is one of these guys and and you heard it from JT that everybody in the clubhouse was kind of fired up because he was back on the mound why because he brings that kind of that kind of energy to the ball Club you know tough luck for him good job by the Phillies taking care of of miscues by the uh the Royals Royals really look like they weren't in this game at all tonight no it's about time that's what the Phillies have been looking like for a long period right it's such a big difference from last night they basically switched sides we go back to Kansas City and check in with Ruben Amaro Jr who's standing by after his game call and Ruben we heard about JT rut we heard that great interview you guys had how impressive was he it was so needed that these Phillies big bats came alive tonight yeah it's really huge and it was really a team effort I mean obviously those two big blows with the two two uh three-run home runs were huge uh I was really even more U impressed by the way that Ranger Suarez how sharp he was with his stuff you know his breaking ball was working pretty well but he had excellent life on his fast ball on the inside part of the plate against the righties um for him to be off basically for an entire month and really not pitching in any rehab games he just threw a couple of simulated games for him to be that sharp that was huge I think it picked up that Dugout in that Clubhouse when uh when they saw the work that he was doing and uh and you're right the baseball gods were uh you know shining down upon us uh this this evening and uh and the Phillies took advantage of it that's the kind of game that you saw happen for the first month and half two months of the season when a team made a mistake or something happened in the game where uh you know it was fortunate for the Phillies they really took advantage of it and tonight was definitely one of those nights yeah taking advantage of things is great but how about nine extra base hits in this game Ruben it's something that the Philly we haven't seen much as Rob Thompson calls slugging the baseball but this is what you call slugging I mean obviously JT had a nice game but it wasn't just him it was up and down the lineup yeah the beauty of it was it sort of started with uh Kyle schwarber driving a ball to left field over the left fielders head opposite way there's a lot of contact the other way which is exactly what Rob Thompson been talking about turning the field around in other words not looking to pull the ball not looking to drive the ball out of the ballpark but utilizing the big part of the ballpark and when our guys do that the Phillies do that on a consistent basis they're as good a hitting team as there is in baseball you saw it happen consistently it also opens up the inside part of the plate because now pitchers try to get in on you and they can spin on a few and that's exactly what happened this evening yes it was the Phillies get this win the second game of the series and they'll go for the series win tomorrow so Ruben we will chat with you tomorrow sounds good guys you could see it coming but you can't react to it you freeze because you're not really sure if that Ball's going to come more in towards you or it's going to stay right where it is you kind of have to freeze a little bit and once you freeze the hands drop Ball's already by you right and with Rangers as I know in pregame you were talking about his velocity how you weren't worri worried about it because Rob Thompson said he wanted to see maybe 90 92 but it was more just staying in this game giving the bull pins some rest and getting some innings in yeah it but but it was it was I don't know I feel like more than that I feel like there was some kind of a spark there was some kind of build uh because because of him I think he's just one of those guys that when he goes to the ballpark he brings really good energy I think people love to play behind him for the sole reason that he's throwing strikes and I I'm going to tell you right now now that the pitch that I was just referring to the inside pitch to The right-handed hitters or the or the pitch on the outside corner to the lefties you could throw that 50 mil an hour if you're throwing it in that spot it's hard to hit and Ranger Suarez has has enough velocity to get it in there and he's not afraid to go in there a lot of Major Leaguers are afraid to go in there because if their ball Tails back over the plate it's over the middle and guys get good swings on it but Rangers is not afraid of anything right and he had his command that was so clear and I think when you talk about that spark it just seemed like this Phillies team just needed something new right like needed something new that's a really that's a really good point maybe they just needed something different maybe maybe uh you know when when you think of Ranger Suarez you think of like almost smiling when when everybody goes on the field and then you watch what he does on the mound and everything is very and I bring up Tempo a lot because when Ranger Suarez is going well it's get the ball go to the Mt get the ball go to the mitt there is no messing around and when you're sitting in let's face it baseball if you're sitting in a certain position gets a little boring at times when your pitcher is fiddling around throwing over the first base two three two three times I mean you start getting a little aggravated you start getting a little annoyed but when Ranger is out there I think you just stay on your toes the whole time and hope that a ball is hit to you so you could help him out get him out of the inning a career high for him and it's just a night the Phillies needed after we talk gosh it feels like for three weeks of how just the big bats weren't showing up the key guys needed to step up and here he is well there were a lot of bats that showed up tonight I mean it was really everybody in the lineup I mean the one guy who really who didn't do anything was Alec bone but that's okay because he's had a pretty good year and that's not a guy you really worry about but you look up and down the lineup nine extra base hits a couple home runs obviously by by real Muto mixed in there but taking advantage taking advantage of situations we've seen this before by the way we've seen the whole picture we just never get to finish the book and this time we got to finish the book because the the hitters stepped up with runners in score position and did damage I mean JT hit that hit that home run that was a close game at that point that the first three run Homer he hits a he hits a bomb to left and I mean it was a 3oh pitch you don't really expect guys going after pitches on three 0 unless you put it in the middle of the plate singer left that ball out out in the middle of the plate little comeback and JT got the got the head to it I mean that that's just really good hitting and it wasn't just him I mean you you look all the way down the lineup Bryson stop today had four hits this this could be one of those games where everybody feels really good going into the clubhouse and when you get in that Clubhouse you're like why can't we do this every day I mean you're not going to see this type of hitting every single day but this is this is a good good photo to have yeah it's it's a good photo to kind of put up on your refrigerator and say we could still do it right knowing you're capable this line up with all the talent it has it definitely can do things like this every night as we go back to Kansas City and hear from manager Rob Thompson tonight just tremendous you know um the the first three run Homer really sort of everybody exhaled at that point and um you know seven RV in in one game is uh pretty impressive 2 three run homers so I mean our our bats were really good tonight um the extra base hits the hitting the ball the other way using the entire field that's what you got to do it's kind of obvious but how much better does it make your offense when he's he's not going to do that but when he's on a roll offensively JT yeah sure it makes you know makes the lineup that much longer and um you know it looks like he's getting his timing down so that's good hopefully he keeps it going he'll be off tomorrow but um um that's just the way it works out how about the top of the lineup the top three guys yeah great you know scharver starting to get his timing um starting the ball the other way Trey at two base hits opposite field and then the infield hit St four hits I mean it's just up and down the lineup the only guy that didn't get a hit was bone um so uh it was really really good to see everybody starting to collect a little bit what you make S is uh tremendous um first pitch strikes outstanding uh efficient a lot of soft contct uh landed his breaking ball when he needed to kept them off balance um he's I he was super really was I was I was worried that I mean he was going to be at 60 pitches after after six Innings you know and and we would had to send him out for the seventh possibly I would had to make that decision but sort of worked its way out was there a maximum number yeah 75 pitches yeah do you think uh the time off this past month has kind of helped him reset for I do and I I I mean in my mind I I who see we'll see what happens but in my mind I think this will help him continue for um September and hopefully October does that count go up incrementally as he goes forward yeah so he'll it's usually 15 20 pitches um now he's had five UPS um you know if he's really really efficient I'd give him seven UPS if if he was that good but um you know now we can go to six probably 90 pitches what you see in that fifth inning where he uh had a little soft contact a little trouble and then finish with two strikeouts yeah I mean he just he just bow his neck right there it was a good trip to the mound and uh just sort of settled everything down calmed everybody down and he just went right back after it and uh just hit his spots have you liked what you've seen out of seen out of Orion lately yes he's attacking the Zone attacking the hitters um slider been outstanding the fastball velocity has been good um you he's just he's just getting after right now he's post game live taking a look at the box score and that is a whole lot of guys contributing and interesting to know that this is the exact same lineup that we saw last night so you have back-to-back nights with double digit hits a team that's getting on the right track Ricky yeah you got five guys with multi-hits tonight um like I said a lot of extra base hits guys with RB guys scoring runs everybody's pitching in Alec bom relax pal you're going to be all right trust me yes he will and you see on that box score there JT Ruto you can highlight that one two home runs to three run home runs we go back to Kansas City and here from JT Roo didn't think you had quite gotten going you feel like you did now yeah uh ideally yeah keep this going for a little while but yeah um definitely feeling feeling good with play was it nice to catch Ranger again given how efficient he's been in his command and everything absolutely um just kind of stepped in and looked like he didn't really miss a beat um Commander the strike zone Great got ahead of guys was able to throw swing and Miss pitches when he needed it um it's just kind of a he's a calming presence in this Clubhouse and we know he's on the mound we know we're going to get a good chance to win the game and he do the ball great for today I know he was on a pitch count but did you think for a minute there that he was going to go deep into the game because of how efficent he was yeah honestly I didn't even know what his pitch count was but but as fast as he was getting I was I was wouldn't would have been surprised if he was going six or seven today with how fast F he was working um they slowed him down a little bit there at the end but he threw the ball great what's your approach when you're swinging three and0 are you looking for certain pitch and certain zone right yeah for sure I think um in that situation just with with runners in scoring position looking for one pitch one location and and try not to miss it well you heard it there in the clubhouse and you heard it in the postgame interview as well almost more excited to talk about Ranger and his return than his own performance which was of of course incredible but that's the Boost we talk about with Ranger but yeah I mean he's but JT's that guy too JT is the guy that gets to talk about the pitcher he gets to talk about what he did on the field I mean I think if he was taking specific questions about his appats tonight like he did there at the end like what what were you looking for for three oh he'll go over it but he doesn't like dwell on things I I think he's a type of guy that understands when you know you're going well just keep it as is you know you don't need to answer every single question about yourself and I I I think that's good I think he as a catcher you're supposed to care more about your pitching staff about guys coming back about guys being ready and and I think he knows the importance of what Rangers Suarez means to this team and obviously it's a lot and now I think there's a lot of people in Philly nation that are taking a big breath tonight and having an aah relief because it seems like Rangers back what did you make of the night overall no on I expected uh I felt uh good at inning as as the game went on and I'm just happy to being able to contribute to a win uh today it's been a long in for you um feel like refreshed or [Music] [Music] yes I think I feel a little fresh now I mean uh I missed a a couple starts maybe four or five starts for during the my SED ner list but uh I think that important thing is how I felt today uh how I look today as well and uh I think that all this will just uh you know build confidence towards uh the end of the season as well how impressed were you by the night JT [Music] [Music] the truth is that J is a great hitter I mean he of course he had the seven RBI today but I think he shown time time and time again that he's capable of doing that every night out and uh you know um I'm just happy that he was able to do that we know that it's first time that he had seven RBI in the game but uh again he's just a guy that we know that he can do that every single day and I'm not just happy for him I'm happy for the team as a whole because we had a tremendous game today the offense and the defense were tremendous we had a lot of great bats today and uh we did a tremendous job overall
