Adam Stenavich on QB Malik Willis: 'An exciting guy to work with'

sen what do you think of how uh Sean Ryan has handled right guards since since Jordan went out of the team stuff yeah I thought he's done a great job he's really you know given that opportunity uh he's stepped up and you know shown that he can be our guy if we need him to be is he going to be the guy we'll see um Jordan's coming along in practice and stuff so we're just kind of taking that situation day to day and seeing what's happens there did you watch Willis uh did you watch any tape on him before trade uh yeah and uh I was impressed with him it's good good athleticism um I like his ability to make plays he can create and make plays um so yeah it's an exciting guy to work with how do you feel Manuel Wilson has progressed with the pass blocking pass catching elements he's come along he's still got a ways to go but he's come along a long ways and uh he's doing a good job with uh with Willis what's the process been like just trying to teach him the offense and yeah the good thing with him um he's not a rookie so he's been around a couple years now and he's been in a his first year his rookie year he was kind of in a a familiar system so there is familiarity with some schemes and some Concepts and stuff like that so when we're talking um he can go back into the past and kind of pull some things so it's not all brand new to him uh he is a quick learner he's doing a good job so we're just meeting with him extra trying to catch him up and uh so far he's he's doing a good job you're you or your offense is the fourth different coordinator he's had in his three NFL seasons at some point can you can you learn that way is that is that is that oh no it's not ideal that's for sure definitely not ideal um but that's the circumstances that he's had to deal with and uh he's done a good job and so hopefully we can just keep them here for a while and give him a good foundation so Clifford has had the offense for two years for was into his second year and Pratt had several months at it how do you get Malik ready to go with on what nine days yeah it's kind of just cramming it in and just seeing what he can handle seeing what he likes what he's familiar with and kind of building from there uh you don't have to put the whole playbook in for him uh but you can kind of just find out his favorite plays what he likes to do and and then go from there as you progress throughout the season so what's what's the backups for rooll this time of year be ready to play that's the role you always got to whether you're a quarterback an old lineman whatever your job is to prepare like a starter so that when your number's called you're ready to go as far as I mean does he have duties in helping Jordan throughout the weekend what what are some of those tasks that he yeah I mean it's it's basically those guys are just studying the film studying the defense you know just seeing what their defense is all about learning and then uh once we put in the concepts and put in the install then their job is just to learn all that so he doesn't really have any extra responsibilities being a backup it's just his job is to be ready to be the starter St what do you when you're looking at your running back situation right now you know Matt told us that you guys had a pretty good idea of how you wanted to use Dylan so it's a bummer not only personally but what you had planned for him you got a rookie who missed a yeah huge majority of camp and you've got a manual and you got the guys on price out how do you not overuse Josh even though he's a high volume guy when you're in kind of predicament you're in yeah that's the one thing about Josh like you just said that's nice is he's been in those roles where you can really lean on him in the Run game and everything else uh he's used to that but yeah you just got to be smart with it kind of play it by year and and make sure you're not overusing him too much early um uh emanuel's played so it's not like we're putting in a guy that hasn't done anything and then you just take it week by week and kind of see what the situation is with the running backs with the health of the room and you know just go forward week by week don't really look too far into the future obviously the same way the other direction but what's the challenge for you as an offense getting ready for a defense with then you coordinate with dick yeah I mean all of that is very um interesting they have really good personnel with the Eagles um obviously Vic he's been around he's done a lot in the in his career so you just got to understand you know kind of what his foundation is and then try and figure out what he wants to do with the players that he has um so you kind of have to keep it simple and just see how see how the game progresses you guys have a couple options at at swing tackle with Glover tord and Dillard is Elton your swing tackle though is he just going to up there because he can if a guy go uh no I I was actually I liked what I saw from those guys in the preseason I thought they did a pretty good job so that's still kind of up in the air that whole situation so we're just kind of going through it every practice those guys are still competing uh for that job Adam where did you see tord make the biggest leap from where he was last year when he started on the practice squad to this year being able to yeah I think you know in the Run game you saw a flash of his physicality he's a big guy um and when he gets his hands on people he can really creates a movement at the point of attack and then uh in the pass protection world he did a really he did a much better job playing with balance and playing in front of Defenders and uh still got a ways to go but uh I I was impressed with what he did in Camp know I I enjoy the good problem to have we always talk about with so many wide receivers and tight ends but how and if I get too close to game planning just smack me down but how big of an advantage is it to have that much in terms of being able to go you could literally go every single snap you could change personnel and how do you B balance wanting to be multiple and changing Personnel a ton with maybe trying to Up Tempo and keeping the same guys out yeah that's a good question um I think a lot of it you got to look situationally you know if a defense changes personnels then you probably don't want to change your personnels to go up Tempo that way if you get an advantageous personel on the field you can go fast or whatever you want to do there offensively it's just what what do you think your advantage is over the defense so it all depends on if you think 11's better than 12 or vice versa or really doesn't matter um and then then just keeping your players involved in the game trying to create plays for certain guys um you know in whatever situation you want to I'm not asking you to boast but like I remember Rogers and the coaches talking in 11 hey we got so manyy they're not going to have their fourth corner is not going to be able to handle our fourth receiver or whatever do you guys feel like you're in a position where you you might have that same yeah no we definitely have guys that you know if you you can create some really good matchups with that's for sure with Jaden Reed or Luke Musgrave or whoever it is uh Wix like all those guys you can really you can really get them on you know other parts of a defense and really get some advantageous looks for sure hey what did you think of the camp Luke had Luke I was up and down uh I thought he'd made a lot of good strides in the past game there's still some stuff I'd like to see him work on uh but I'm excited to see him play um you know he flashed some really special things out there at times so yeah I'm excited to watch him go out there and compete can Ben help I I mean I know that you're really happy with Tucker too but can Ben help you more than he could a year ago when he just got here yeah definitely I mean anytime he just walked in from another team we picked we claimed him off waivers or whatever that was and uh he just came in and it was kind of like here week one you're playing and he did a great job for the circumstances but now he's got a year under his belt and he's definitely you know just feels more comfortable in the whole situation so yeah I think he's definitely going to help us this year a lot
