e [Music] [Music] this game's being played in Oklahoma The Sooner State here at Oklahoma Memorial hi everybody I'm Brad nestler and I'm with Kirk herb Street here in the booth and we're also joined by our sideline reporter Aaron Andrews today's college football actions brought to you by Nissan proud partner of the Heisman Trophy we'll see the temple owls and the Oklahoma [Music] Sooners and and here come the Sooners for temple they have quite a hill to climb if they're to win this game sure the odds are that this is a route but you never know stranger things have happened and who wouldn't want to be around for a huge upset for Oklahoma they've got to keep an eye on a very dangerous running back he's really going to need to be on top of his game against a terrific group of linebackers today it's time to head down to the field for the coin toss now presented by Nissan proud partner of the Heisman Trophy the pregame festivities are over and we're just about set to get this game underway and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback so let's see what the offense can do as they come out onto the field this flag came from the Umpire and that means this is probably holding holding [Applause] the that penalty drives them back and they're shooting themselves in the foot here well if they could just keep their concentration they'll avoid situations like [Applause] that so the penalty puts him back for a first and long [Applause] they go with the run and he's taken down behind the line excellent job by the defense to diagnose the play so quickly this is really a well coached unit try to change the [Applause] play trying to get it to the tight end but it falls to the ground well he must have hurried there because his reer was wide open there was no need to rush that one at all they come out in a five wide [Applause] set looking to throw going deep on the left side knock down incomplete it can be really difficult to guard these long passes because you got to keep up with the receiver make sure you don't run over him and look out for the ball that was not an easy Play It's away and it's a booming punt he makes it out to maybe the 49 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense [Applause] still first and 10 ball on the 34 yd line throws to the tight end and that falls [Applause] incomplete second and 10 ball on the 34 it was the Umpire that threw the flag and generally that's a holding penalty that penalty will move him back a bit yeah with so many young guys out there it's bound to happen occasionally now it's second and long after the penalty he's looking to pass and it's knocked away [Applause] away third down and they need to get it to the 24 they come out in a five wide set he drops back complete and he's finally shoved out at the 17 yd line the receiver found the hole in the zone and turned it into a first down no matter what type of defensive coverage you have they're always going to be hold the best thing you can do is make those holes small so the quarterback can't get the ball in there we've got a first and 10 ball in the 17 first down looking to throw got a man in and out of his hands [Applause] from the 17 yd line Second down hold everything folks there's a marker down let's get the call way too much Jersey there pretty easy call for the officials [Music] so it's second down and long now after the penalty hand off inside and he's quickly brought down a yard maybe two on the carry so another third down here and this time it's third and long the crowd is really letting him hear it he's looking to pass swatted away well they dug a bit of a hole for themselves and were forced into a low percentage pass play here on third down but the good news is they still have a shot at some points so the kicker comes out he'll try to put three points on the board this will be about a 42 Y and it falls short no good so the kicker is unsuccessful and this defense couldn't be any happier so our count is still Temple nothing Oklahoma nothing it's first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 25 drops back on first down the senior makes the catch brought down at the 32 personl face Mas from the defense first down first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 47 here's the halfback up the middle for a nice game [Applause] goes to his back and it's in and out of his [Applause] hands third down and they need to get it inside the 43 they'll spread the field with five wide he drops back batted away I thought they did a good job of reading the play and positioning themselves well to break up the pass it's Fourth Down looks like they're going to putt it away here and this one is a beauty and it goes out of the end zone for the Touchback they'll start this drive at the 20 gets it out to the to tight end and he can't hang [Applause] on from their own 20 yd line it's second [Applause] down there's a flag on the field and I think I have a good feeling of what this might be that penalty drives them back and they're shooting themselves in the foot here well they can just keep their concentration they'll avoid situations like that drops back to pass deep pass down the left side tip down and we got an injured player on the field from their own 13 yline it's third down so this crowd is making their presence felt he drops back he's looking deep down the left side they're going to have to be more more successful throw in the football you can't gain solid yardage if the defense isn't concerned about the passing game they can end up crowding the line of scrimmage expecting a run on every down he punts it away and it's a great kick he Fields upon at the 20 flag down and I'm not sure when it was thrown let's find out flipping on the receiving team [Applause] so they'll move back after that costly penalty and they'll have to try to get that yardage back [Applause] here option they'll drop him for a loss once he saw it was a run he made a great break on the ball and used his speed to make the big tackle from their own 19 yd line it's second [Applause] down he drops back got a receiver and he dropped it don't think the other receivers didn't see that hit they'll be thinking about this guy when they're running their routes too from their own 19 yline third down [Applause] drops back to pass and he hits him hard at the 11 he was a Sitting Duck on that play and believe me these defensive players love a Sitting Duck and that'll be three and out after the sack it's now fourth and long it's away and it's a booming punt he makes it out to maybe the 49 yd line personal foul face mask on the defense still first down first down 10 yds to go ball in the 34 here's the give and they got him for a loss man did he play that perfectly or what as a linebacker you have to be able to read the offense and make a quick diagnosis which is exactly what he did on that [Applause] play screen pass he's got his halfback he's gobbled up in the back field they're stopped two yds behind the line pretty good St stand there they weren't fooled At All by the offensive play [Applause] call third down and they need to get it to the 24 these fans are showing you why teams hate to come here folks back to pass steps up in the pocket looks like someone was called for holding hey this guy's got to forget about the drop remember he was in good position to make a [Applause] play it's away and it's a booming Punt and goes out of the end zone for the Touchback they'll go to work at the 20 yard line it's first and [Applause] 10 they work the right side and there is nothing going there person foul face mask on the defense first down first and 10 ball on the 35 yd [Applause] line takes it right and he can't get back to the line personal foul face mask from the defense first down from their own 49 yd line first [Applause] down on the draw play makes it out to about the 39 unbelievable they can't get this offense off the field oh they've been like a machine on this drive very methodical and efficient and once again they're moving the [Applause] chains he's hit and taken down [Applause] here's a hand off and he's taken down for a loss person foul face mask from defense first down from the 16 yd line it's first down they go with the option and they hit him in the back field I'll tell you what for a defensive back this kid is a sure tackler and he showed it right there from the 17 yd line Second [Applause] down oh oh boy almost intercepted it can be tough making a play on the ball sometimes but that's probably a pick he should have made he drops back he couldn't drag his feet incomplete that was close but they're saying the tight end didn't get a foot in just a little too of Target by the quarterback well that's a tough break for these guys who were looking to put three points up on the board so the score is still Oklahoma nothing Temple nothing this drive will start at the 20 drops back on first down he might not be able to get the pass off and it's knocked away I love to see see a confident quarterback but you don't want to just go back there and put Blind Faith into your throws you need a little bit more time to evaluate the coverage before you release the football from their own 20 yd line Second down hands off and not much room there as they try to work the left [Applause] side first down from their own 35 yd line first down little hand off nice run to the outside personal foul face mask on the defense first down from the 43 yd line first down they come out on an empty Back Field and this one's broken up great reaction by the defender that pass was really launched up into the air and he had to follow it carefully to close in on the ball and to break up the play back to pass throws out to the back and he can't hold on to it it's always good to get your backs involved in the passing game but you never want to put him in a situation like that maybe he should have just thrown the ball away he gets sacked on the play unfortunately I've taken a few of those in my day and they are not pleasant they get this one off and it's a beauty and it goes out of the end zone for the Touchback they'll start at the 20 first down 10 to go [Applause] hand off to the right they'll knock him down for a loss from a defensive coordinator standpoint it can really help out your scheme when you get excellent run support by the corner again with a carry makes it to the 22 yd line three yd gain by the running [Applause] back back to pass he's got it with room to run and they finally push him out at the 48 you know they did a great job here of not just getting past the first down marker but picking up some major yards on the [Applause] play straight in the middle and he meets the defense the running back gets a yard maybe less Aon and out long tipped away third down now and they need to get it down to the [Applause] 38 he's looking to pass and he tackles him hard at the 45 he has one job on passing situations get to the quarterback and he did that job very very well on that play it's away and it's a booming Punt and this one goes out of the end zone so they'll bring it out to the [Applause] 20 the offense will start at the 20 yd line first and 10 hands it off inside brought [Applause] down first down from their own 37 yd line first down five wide and that's his receiver who's WI open he looked pretty cool back there even with the outside linebacker blitzing he made an accurate throw and the result is a new set of downs from the 48 yd line it's first [Applause] down gives it right side flags are out and this one might be on the offense you've probably heard it said that there's holding on every play it's just not called I don't think it's really that prevalent but you can get away with it sometimes and other times you [Applause] can't here's the run right he's got nowhere to go I'm not even sure the ball carrier saw the corner coming for him that happened so fast he never had a chance to make a [Music] [Applause] move wants to go long and does it's broken up and the safety comes up with a nice play these safeties are not only physical but here showing the athletic ability to get a hand on the ball that is great coverage he's looking to pass that close to being intercepted the deflection prevented them from getting any yards and now it's Fourth Down they'll set up shop at the 28 first down 10 yds to go drops back to pass and that's his receiver who's wide [Applause] open try to change the play it's complete and he's taken down at the [Music] [Applause] [Applause] 48 throws to the tail back incomplete terrific coverage and when you fog up passing Lanes like that you can force a quarterback to make some poor decisions almost got themselves a turnover [Applause] too tosses across the middle to his tight endl face defense [Applause] it's first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 17 bat it away from the 17 yd line Second down they'll run the option good job of wrapping up the big fullback and not letting go that can sometimes be a tough thing to do to pull down a big strong fullback for a loss nice play and it's knocked away so for down coming up and give credit to the defense there they played very disciplined and were able to break up the pass the kick is up and this one doesn't have the distance well he tried for three but they came up empty-handed so we'll change possession with a score Oklahoma nothing Temple nothing they'll set up shop at the 20 yd line it's complete and he's tackled at the 29 second down and around one yd to go ball in the 29 yd line Rose and he's right there to knock it away good awareness defensively that time by the linebacker not only that but as you saw he also made a very athletic move to get to the ball and this crowd is going absolutely crazy he makes it to the 32 yd line yeah they stuck with a run and it pays off for him you know what Brad so important on third down to rely on the offensive line to get a good push and that's what they did there to pick up the first down drops back to pass he's tackled at the 40 yd line from their own 40 yd line Second down wide receiver screen play and he's level at the 43 there was a three- yd completion and we'll have a first and 10 coming up since he only needed a few yards the little dump off pass worked to [Applause] Perfection they run straight brought down quickly person foul face mask on the defense first down first and 10 ball on the 42 yd line passes to the wide out and he can't pull it [Applause] in it's second and 10 and this is the eighth play of the drive they'll line up with five wide [Applause] receivers he's looking to pass throws complete he's got space to work he gets hit Out of Bounds at the 32 yd line and so it's another third down upcoming here here's the option it's picked up by the defense I tell you when the option works it can be beautiful to watch but when it doesn't it can go horribly wrong not a good result for the offense [Applause] they'll get the ball here at the 35 yd line it's first and [Applause] 10 they run left and he'll lose yardage the offense knows that the linebackers are cheating up a little bit on the run if they can get some protection they might want to open up a little bit of space for some passes underneath so it's second and 13 ball on the 32 yd line [Applause] they'll keep it on the ground again makes it out to about the [Applause] 49 right side with the option and they'll bring him down behind the line super job here by the defense of filling the gaps on the line if you keep stringing out plays like that you can really shut an option attack down from their own 45 yd line Second [Applause] down tail back brought down for a loss really good job by the big guys up front to use their size and speed and get the runner in the back field third down now and they need to get it inside the 41 [Applause] and it's knocked down these guys were ready for the pass and played it well to come up with the deflection so it's fourth down they come out in a punt formation he gets it away and this is a really nice punt this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback the offense will start at the 20 yd line got his man can't tack on any yardage about six yards on the play tight end does a good job here of selling his block and then getting out on his route and then making a nice catch for a good game bat it [Applause] away third from their own 26 yd line third down they come out in a five wide set tackle made at the 39 yd line well you know this defense is going to come after you there's no doubt about that and as an offense you have to be prepared for that and that play they made them pay for blitzing from their own 39 yd line it's first down empty backfield quarterback in the gun five wide receivers and he can't hang on after the hit and a great job that time on defense good job here but let me tell you something that wide out was left out to dry that time catches it and now the ball is loose tackle at the 48 so it's the cornerback that comes up with a fumble and this ball will change hands fumbles will absolutely drown an offense it's hard to get into a rhythm when you make mistakes like like [Applause] that the offense will start at the 48 yd line first and [Applause] 10 it's the tail back he makes it out to [Applause] Midfield personal foul face mask on the defense first down and that's the end of the quarter we're scoreless after [Music] one it's first and 10 ball on the 35 yd line he's tackled at the 21 this is why it's so important to have success in running the football it forces a defense to prepare for it and then that creates chances on playaction they executed that one perfectly and they'll get him in the back field the option can be really tough to defend at that time it was well played by the defense [Applause] with the pass [Applause] incomplete from the 23 yd line third [Applause] down looking to throw touchdown Oklahoma Kirk that was a beautiful pass and a nice catch well this is is one of those plays to just sit back and admire the quarterback threw the ball perfectly and again the speed of the receiver is the difference in this play it was a pretty simple route but they run it to Perfection for the score he makes the pat so a four play 50yd drive and they add seven points to the scoreboard Brad I thought that was a textbook Drive I thought they did a really good job of showing balance mixing the play calling with the run and the pass just an overall well executed touchdown guve no chance for a return it'll come out to the 20 they'll go to work at the 20 first and 10 there are five wide receivers split out the quarterback in the gun option right gets out out to about the 21 he keeps it and picks up maybe a [Applause] yard from their own 21 yd line Second down fires incomplete he was looking for the tight end I think the secondary caught a break there with that ball being overthrown to the tight end I know he's a big fella but he's still a playmaker and that had big play written all over and he's going to be sacked the blitz was the call but the D lineman was the one who made his way to the quarterback and he showed great quickness getting off the line into the back field this guy can move for a big fella the sack makes this a fourth and very long oh excellent punt oh what a hit not a great return there boy he got a hold of that ball this punter has a big time leg and you can see that when he gets a hold of a ball like that he really goes there hasn't been too much daylight between these two teams in games like this some players try to press too much and that can cause mistakes catches it that's a great tackle at the 39 yd line just about three yds there this young wide receiver has the raw ability to make some big plays so that was a good job there by the defense to stop him for a short [Applause] gain they'll go ground makes it out to about the 50 pass on the defense [Applause] from the 35 yd line first down Oklahoma is up seven got it to the senior they just couldn't get to the quarterback in time that's one of the things that can happen if a defense brings extra guys to rush to quarterback the offense will have favorable matchups to get the ball down field a huge play and now they're in a great position to score great job by the quarterback he had a slant called against his Z coverage and threw it at the perfect time he drops back swatted away it's second down they're four yds away here we go [Applause] on the hand off he will score this back has great vision which allows him to make runs like this one we just saw he made a really clever move to get fre that was fun to watch he makes the pat so a five play 53 yd drive and it's good for seven points so our score 14 nothing Oklahoma ready to kick this one off and this is just a booming kick and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll go to work at the 20 yd line and they make the stop at the 28 so it's second down and about two yds to go the option left and they get nice yardage on that run so the play works as designed and the offense picks up a first down good read by the quarterback he made a quick pitch off to the running back and they came away with a pretty good gain and he's taken down at the 44 [Applause] from their own 44 yd line it's first [Applause] down fakes to the back he's got it touchdown the wide receiver flew down the field on that touchdown connection well he has the speed to stretch to defense and his hands are getting better every single game you've always got to be on your toes when you're covering this [Music] guy he makes the pat so a Fourplay 80 yd drive and they add seven points to the scoreboard boy that is scoring in a hurry this offense is looking more and more explosive Temple is lining up to kick this one off and he got all of this one great kick and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback they'll go to work at the 20yd line gives it off brought down after a nice run up the middle so the draw to the halfback picks up [Applause] four looks to pass catches it and he's looking for more and he's tackled in the open field face mask on the [Applause] defense first down first and 10 ball on the 45 yd [Applause] line and there's a penalty on the play let's see who it's [Applause] on that penalty will move him back a bit yeah with so many young guys out there it's bound to happen occasionally [Applause] throws in the middle and he's tackled right around the [Applause] 50 they go to the ground game and down he goes at the 39 just a simple draw play there but they picked up some big [Applause] yards here's the option tackled for a loss those linebackers do a great job of stopping the run but they need to be careful the playaction pass you can easily get fooled and give up some big yards through the air second down and they've got for the first down ball on the 44 yd line they go to the back and he's hit immediately in the back field and the defense just swarmed over him on that one yeah they were able to penetrate the offensive line and get to the running back before that play even had a chance and he can't get away from the pressure [Applause] it's Fourth Down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one off and this one is a beauty this one will go into the end zone and they'll bring it out to the 20 [Applause] they'll go to work at the 20yd line first and 10 pass complete and taken down immediately that's four yards on the play you know little passes like this Force the defense to start to come up then you can see an offense take their chances downfield later to take advantage of the defense starting to cheat up drops back to pass they bring the quarterback down you have to keep an eye on this guy especially during passing situations because he does a great job of getting to the quarterback as we saw right [Applause] there it's third down and 14 yds to go now after that set back by the sack he drops back very Stern effort there by the defense they weren't giving up anything on that series it's fourth down and they're ready to punt this one away he really got a hold of that one he makes it to the 38 yd line he showed a good burst there they'll take over at the [Applause] 38 handoff inside brought down after a nice run up the middle the halfback picks up maybe five yds on the draw play he'll get it again takes it up the middle for a nice run pass defense still first down first down 10 to go ball on the 37 ydd [Applause] Line run the middle and nothing there nowhere to go on a [Applause] delay he may have changed things up here here's the option and they got to him before he can get back to the line the entire defense just collapsed on that run and got penetration into the back field nice job by the safety to clean up the [Applause] mess he drops back finds his receiver who's all alone he's pushed Out of Bounds at the 15 yd line and he's got 200 yds passing now I'll tell you what this guy is so much fun to watch when he gets into a rhythm like [Applause] this he's changing things up they try running left and he carries the ball for a nice game person foul face mask from the defense first down Oklahoma first and goal about to go up by two [Applause] scores puts it right in his hands touchdown he gives them another score his second in the passing game the quarterback knew exactly where to put the pass and the receiver went out there and made the grab good communication there and he TS on the extra point so a five playay 53 yd drive and they add seven points to the scoreboard the score now 217 Oklahoma to kick and this is just a booming kick no chance for a return it'll come out to the 20 they'll set up shot at the 20yd line first and 10 there are five wide receivers split out the quarterback in the gun gives it left side and he is drill at the 22 person foul face mask on the defense first down from their own 37 yd line first down they'll go with the option they'll wrestle him down in the back field it's got to be frustrating for this offense to go backwards but they've just got to stick with it and know that big plays will eventually happen they'll run the option they'll get in for a loss the the penetration by the defense was so good on that play that it didn't matter who the ball carrier was anyone would have been brought down for a loss back to pass deep pass down the right side oh and he can't hold on so it's Fourth Down the punter comes on the field getting ready to send one [Applause] off oh excellent punt little too much leg into that punt they'll bring it out to the 20 this drive will start at the 20 we've got a first and 10 option here he got a lot of Jersey on that play not too much argument about this calling on holding penalties can really kill momentum but sometimes if you don't hold your quarterback can take a pretty good [Applause] shot it's complete he's tackled at the 22 yd line [Applause] line he's changing things [Applause] up caught and he's hit immediately two- yd pickup this was just a little dump off pass to the halfback but it was very well defended keeping them from moving the ball very far down field they're calling in Audible over the middle to his tailback tackle at the 25 yd line they got a little bit there but less than a yard it's a nice play by the defense to shut down all the lanes so this halfback wasn't able to make anything happen on that play he gets it away and this is a really nice punt he's to the 20 makes it out maybe to the 26 yd line person foul face mask on the defense still first from their own 41 yd line it's first [Applause] down now he's going to run and watch out slides down good gain there on the quarterback scramble you know I really like the decision to tuck it and run here he waited and found no one open so instead of throwing it away he just took it up field for himself from the 49 yd line Second down here's the handoff and he's taken down for a loss really good play here and run support by the linebacker the big guys up front took away the running lanes and he was able to get through for a loss everybody on their feet they want to see a stop right now he makes it to the 48 yd line and they keep it on the ground for the first down nothing too fancy here the key is that the running back was able to convert the first down from the 48 yd line first down takes it up the middle for a nice [Applause] run from the 42 yd line it's second [Applause] down back to pass stays in bounds to make a nice catch and he's got 200 100 yds passing now I'll tell you what this guy is so much fun to watch when he gets into a rhythm like this first down 10 yds to go ball on the 24 yd line [Applause] second down 10 yds to go ball on the [Applause] 24 here's a run up the gut but nothing going there really nice play by the defensive lineman I like this guy's size and instincts drops back to pass complete wait a second they put the points on the board but they might have to take them [Applause] down they'll line up for another third down play because of the penalty well here you're in a third down situation and then someone makes a mental mistake it makes your blood boil if you're a coach and and he throws it away so the kicking team is on the field they'll try for three this kick will be about a 35 or 36 yder no good he missed it to the left well they lead three points on the field there and our score Oklahoma 21 Temple seven they'll set up shop at the 20 for first and 10 here's the option he's gobbled up in the back field well the defensive line got such a good push up front that there was no one on the offense to account for the linebacker and he got through almost untouched second down 14 coming up here ball on the 16 yd line playaction he passes it catches it and he's looking for more he's tackled in the open field and a great pass play that time and here we see just how much this defense respects the running game they got sucked in here on the play action and got beat on the pass good play call they're changing the play handoff brought down quickly personal foul face mask from the defense first down from the 42 yd line first [Applause] down he makes out to maybe the 39 yd line so they get about three on the [Applause] draw he drops back throws complete he's got space to work and he's taken down at the 19 the Sooners call for a timeout and they've got two remaining looks middle got his back brought down at the 10 yd line Oklahoma will take a timeout that's their second of the half looking to throw got his man but he was out of bounds yeah the tight end caught the ball but not before he stepped out of bounds good call there by the refs dumps it complete over the middle it was the Umpire that threw the flag and generally that's a holding [Applause] penalty they'll give this one another try after the flag and on third down too that's when you don't want those kind of things to happen [Applause] back to pass and they get the sack well they sent the cornerback and he was able to make the sack the offensive line was just too slow to pick him up by the time they saw him it was just too late and he hooked it left every time you have a chance to finish a drive with points you've got to capitalize that time they couldn't come through they'll take over at the 20 option right makes it out to about the 36 personal foul face mask on the defense still first and 10 ball in the 49 they'll line up with five wide receivers they'll throw on first down and he's going to be sacked for a loss face mask on defense first down [Applause] first and 10 ball on the 35 looking to throw he's at the 30 he Dives and he'll be marked down it's first and 10 and they continue to work the ball down field drops back to pass complete this one might be coming back folks let's check out the penalty CPP that one will put the offense in a hole and they'll try to get some of that back on this upcoming play from the 25 yd line first down throws it and oh he dropped it man I don't know if this quarterback Miss r the defense or just made a poor decision but that wasn't a pass he should have thrown the quarterback in the gun empty backfield five wide receivers in the formation has a man but he couldn't drag that foot he let his wide receiver too far to the outside yeah he just had to pull the string a little bit more there and he just didn't have the leg for this one don't go anywhere folks it looks like we might have a pretty good game on our hands after all our score here in Oklahoma Memorial the Sooners 21 the owls seven [Music] we are set to start the second half both teams are on the field and we're ready to go and this one's going to come back to the 20 for temple they were one or two plays away from making this game much closer Aaron Andrews will give us more details EA well Brad the problem according to the coach is that they let too much get by them they held them in check some ways but he feels like he should be able to clamp down and even cause some turnovers which should help them get back into this in a hurry and for Oklahoma they'll look to keep the pressure on adding to their four sacks back up to you Brad let's see if they can get something going now drops back and brought down immediately [Applause] first down from their own 35 yd line first down option to the right they bring him down in the back field the thing about the option is you're going to have some negative plays but if you keep running it it'll create some big play opportunities from their own 32 yd line Second down gets to about the 34 yd line from their own 34 yd line it's third down and he's sacked that makes four sacks today well this speed is difficult to defend because you have to try to keep them off balance so they can't use their quickness so it's fourth down here comes the punter looking to boot this one away it's away and it's a booming punt as pretty an option play as you'll ever see it took all fall practice for the quarterback and the halfback to get their timing down man do they look good now and he TS on the extra point a nice six impressive game by this defensive lineman but when you have a defensive lineman that's able to control the football game from the inside it forces the offense to have to account for him on every single play to me this is just a classic example of just being bigger faster and stronger than the guy trying to block you I don't care if this offensive line uses two or even three guys to stop him there's nothing they can do to stop this individual performance that he's putting on display today if you want to point to certain individuals as reasons why they're winning he'd be a good start and it's knocked [Applause] down from their own 20 yd line Second [Applause] down he drops back [Applause] it's third and 10 ball in their own 20 drops back to pass and they got him can this offense do anything to slow down this pass rush I think they need to make some adjustments with their pass protection maybe allow the backs to stay in the block because the quarterback is getting pound did back there after the sack it's now fourth and long it's away and it's a booming punt gets to about the 41 yd line face mask on the defense still first down from the 44 yd line first [Applause] down it's complete and he's taken down at the 21 runs left and quickly taken down a yard maybe two on the [Applause] carry and that sets them up with a first and goal everybody was fooled on that one hey that was a good job here by the quarterback that good a play fake is a real weapon against an aggressive defense like this fumble and they fall on the loose ball wow very close to turning it over but they'll keep possession of the football way to play heads up out there that's just one more reason to play to the whistle this defense just hasn't been able to catch a break all game long hands it to the back gets out to around the [Applause] six they put everyone up on the line and he's immediately [Applause] tackled so it's fourth down and the offense is still on the field they're crowding the line they'll try the fullback and he Plows in for the touchdown so it's the big hos on the score and I think the fullbacks deserve to get some of the spotlight they're always out there working hard for everybody else they're like a glorified offensive lineman they never get any recognition and he TS on the extra point a seven playay 44 yd drive and they get it in for seven the score now 5 occasions you know all week long the defensive coordinator for this team told us that it was a major priority to put pressure on the quarterback that's exactly what they're doing and because of all their problems at the Line This offense is having a difficult time moving the ball well I think they're doing a great job right now with their athletic ability putting pressure on the quarterback and when you're an offense and you're struggling like this it's going to put you in a lot of third and long situations which obviously allows the defense to pin their ears back and just flat out come after the quarterback and it hasn't just been the work of this defense that's been impressive every unit has come through to contribute to the blowout flag on the play Let's see what it is clipping is the call and now they'll have to find a way to make up those yards right here from their own 19 yd line it's first down throws complete he's got space to work looks like someone was called for [Applause] holding holding on the still first down it's first down and a lot runs it and tackled in the back field well that's just a good call from the defensive side of the football they know what it's been for this quarterback Kirk well it's been a fun afternoon because he's having a lot of success and the reason is he's in tune with his receivers and they're really playing with a great rhythm their own 46 yd line first first [Applause] down and he's tackled at the 43 quarterbacks just love this scenario he had his man one-on-one on a corner route versus Man coverage and you just saw it it results in an easy first [Applause] down from the 43 yd line first down down and it's caught he's tackled at the [Applause] 29 first and 10 ball in the 29 yd line they come out on an empty Back Field he guns it to the left looks to a receiver touchdown excellent play here by the quarterback making the proper reads and finding his playmaker for the score [Music] and the extra point is no good so a five playay 80 yd drive and they put six points on the board after missing the extra point and a huge contribution from the aerial tack boy they had some nice big pass plays on that drive so the score now 41 13 and it's sails out of the end zone for a Touchback the offense will take over at the 20 first down 10 to go tail back brought down for a loss the D line did a good job of nullifying out the blocks up front and that allowed the linebacker to roam free and make the tackle in the back field try to get it to the tight end but it falls to the ground the receiver needed to get a step or two further into his route to have any chance of snagging that pass he drops back he hauls it in he's put up some great numbers in this one 400 yd passing now the guy has done a great job moving the been rewarded here today with some pretty good throws leading to some remarkable touchdowns they call it a catch but the booth signal down to the referee that they'd like to take another peek at this man as I see this play again it really looks like he made the correct call on the fieldi well I think the play warranted a review but the call on the field stands and he missed it he missed the extra point it was a six play 81 yd drive and it results in six so the score now 4713 Oklahoma is lining up to kick this one off and he got all of this one great kick and they can forget about returning decides to take it himself and he's got it touchdown so the quarterback decided to improvise and took it in for the touchdown this is why this guy is such a special player this is what makes the offense even more difficult to stop when quarterback can take it himself and run that's just one more weapon the defense has to account [Music] for and he converts the extra point so a 12 playay 69 yd drive and they come away with seven points I think the thing Brad that I'm seeing is the quarterback's taking advantage of some one-on-one opportunities on the outside for some big plays for this offense he boots it deep down field and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll set up shot at the 20yd line first down 10 to go throws it out right to the running back and down he goes at the 20 not much there on the screen play they're changing the [Applause] play from their own 20 yd line third down looks middle got his back very good tackle in space person foul face mask defense complete breakdown in judgment and discipline these are the types of mental errors that drive coaches crazy the quarterback really took a shot after the play and I'll bet that's what this flag is for pass the officials have gotten really serious about hits like this I think it's good for the game that they're doing such a good job of protecting the [Applause] quarterbacks and he's hit immediately line the running back gets two on the carry that's a nice play there by the sophomore out in the corner he read the run and stepped up and made a nice tackle and they've got the dime package in there quarterback is really frustra there have been problems on the offensive line this whole game and he's just taken hit after hit today over the middle to his tail back brought down at the 47 the screen is good for four it's a well-designed play to the halfback and it worked at at least to get them a medium gain on the play booming kick this punt goes over the goal line and this will be a Touchback they'll get the ball here at the 20 yd line first down 10 to [Applause] go here's the option the they'll drop him for a loss good discipline here by the defense stringing the option out and plugging the running Lanes he moved them back run left side makes it to the 27 nice job by the running back and that'll get him seven maybe eight yards third and three ball on the 27 yd line again with the run and he's tackled after positive yardage that was a nice run on third down getting up field and picking up the [Music] first first and 10 ball on the third 33 they run left and he'll lose yardage he like to have that one back yeah you're right this offense relies so much on timing and as you saw there when their timing gets knocked off they have a tough time connecting on plays like this [Applause] thir third down and they need to get it inside the [Applause] 43 drops back to pass they bring the quarterback down they simply have too much speed for this offensive line they're just too the 20 yd line first down 10 yds to go first down looking to throw he's tackled at the 21 yd line they don't have enough time to play Dink and dunk football like this they need to move the ball and do touchdown huge play he's up to four TD passes now well what we have right now is a quarterback who's very comfortable with his offense he believes in his system and the coaches and players believe in defense is fast enough that they can create negative yards on completed passes so the offense might want to consider that next time they try that play so it's Fourth Down looks like they're going to punt it away here he gets it away and this is a really nice punt a little laundry on the field and we'll find out who's it is on theing [Music] these are the calls that drive a coach crazy senseless penalties can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing the game he Chucks it downfield and he's finally out of Bounds at the 49 that's a good looking throw and catch obviously the defense is going to have to give them some room but they're not going to give up the big play throws it deep downfield and got him he'll take it all way for the touchdown and there's touchdown number five for this quarterback he's got great blocking up front the entire game and his receivers are making plays so I don't just give credit to the quarterback but to this entire offense for getting things done I'm kind of surprised these guys are still losing after the type of game that this quarterback's having [Music] he makes the pat a quick two-play 82 yd drive and they come away with a touchdown you know when you could throw the football as well as these guys can you don't necessarily always have to have a balance attack because you're so proficient in throwing the ball so the score now 53 39 and this one's going to come back to the 20 they'll start at the 20 yd line they'll give it off here and he's taken down at the 22 yd line personal foul face Mas from the defense first down first and 10 ball on the 36 again he'll get the call this one might be coming back folks let's check out the [Applause] penalty that one will put the offense in a hole and they'll try to get some of strength that this quarterback plays with he's a real valuable part of the defense they keep it on the ground with a tail back and he gets a yard on the run that was a great tackle the Defenders seemingly came out of nowhere and put a big hit on the ball carrier try to change the play he lets it Go got a man watch out here and he's all the way in for the touchdown another catch and he's up to 100 yards now well this guy is such a big part of this offense if he doesn't get his numbers they usually don't have much success moving the football and the extra point is no good with a three-play 66 yd drive and they'll walk away with just six points after the miscon conversion and Brad right now the offensive line just winning the battle in the trenches opening up some big running LS Oklahoma get set to kick this one away and it sails out of the end zone for a touch back what a day this receiver's putting together Kirk well not only is he having a great game but he's also just seems to be having fun out there I think the entire offense for that matter the entire team seems to be responding to his infectious attitude and the thing that we're seeing is he has speed to burn when he gets behind the defense there's virtually no chance of stopping him he'll have to keep up this performance these guys sure could use another boost and as the defense comes back out you can be sure they're thinking about that score they surrendered the last time around and this offense needs to continue to produce on the scoreboard because they are still losing this game inside the 30 the 10 he's all the way touchdown this guy just continues to impress me every time I watch this team play he seems to come up with big plays and doesn't it always seem like he just finds a way to get open [Music] and the point after is no good Temple lines up for the kickoff he just drills this one and they can forget about returning this one the offense will take over at the 20 first and 10 they keep it on the back to the line well I think it's safe to say the defense had his number on that one it can be very frustrating for a running back when he's stopped before he even gets going the quarterback in the gun empty backfield five wide receivers in the formation looks to pass got a man in and out of his hand boy that hurts the offense to have to go three and out they're going to have to think about how to get something going the next time they come out and this one is a beauty he drops it this one might be coming back folks let's check out the penalty on the receiving team so they'll move back after that costly penalty and they'll have to try to get that yardage back here slings it out there incomplete that one sailed on him he wanted his receiver but I think that may have slipped out of his they tackle him at the one yd line the offense caught him flat footed to convert that third and long you can tell by the coach's reaction that that is a huge [Applause] disappointment they're going to pitch it touchdown Oklahoma yeah there's the icing on the cake they played a terrific game and this will put the official stamp on it and he misses the extra point so that's a five play 66 yd drive and it results in six so our score 6545 Oklahoma to kick he sends this one deep and they can forget about returning this one they'll go to work at the 20 go less than two minutes in the fourth quarter looking to throw throws in the middle and he's tackled at the 40 yd line personal foul face mask from the defense still first down first and 10 ball on the 45 empty backfield quarterback in the gun five wide receivers he's looking to pass and it's knocked away on [Music] and so it's second and 10 ball on the 45 yd line they come out in a five wide set he's at the 40 bat it away [Applause] third down and they need to get it down to the 35 he's going to air it long tipped away I thought they did a good job of reading the play and positioning themselves well to break up the pass he drops back
