what does it mean to you to have the scoring records you have in college but then also get this assist record up to to do this um in this year what does it what does it mean to you yeah it's it's definitely cool I mean if you would have told me I would like lead the league and assist coming in here in my rookie season I probably would have told you you're lying um but I take a lot of pride in that like I want to set my teammates up first and foremost because I think that's going to help you have the most successful team um whether that's in the pick and role that's probably where I'm most successful with that and I'm lucky enough to play with ab and l in the world of professional basketball records are made to be broken but some stand the test of time year after year defying even the greatest players Until Now ladies and gentlemen witness history in the making Caitlyn Clark breaks the WNBA single season assist record Samson nice pass there to Clark Clark behind the back oh it's and then on a fateful night against the Las Vegas Aces it happened assist number 3177 a new WNBA record the crowd went wild teammates mobbed her and somewhere in the stands you could almost hear the sound of the Old Guard passing the [Music] [Applause] torch not every record is good though as Clark has already shattered the all-time Mark for turnovers in a season with 209 entering Friday the previous record was Thomas with 137 last year she she has already set the all-time single season record for turnover which is kind of bananas not for rookies just for players but so the turnovers are a legitimate demerit yeah I mean there was a couple here and there I think one was a set design where I kind of just assumed a Leo was going to be open and I didn't even really look before I threw it so I think just slowing down a little bit um honestly I'm trying to remember the other ones one another one was to aah that was s out it's all right don't worry because don't worry because I mean you you look at Caitlyn and you look at the way she passes the ball and so sometimes things are going to happen that way and that's okay because we're not going to let her hang her head we're not going to hang our head off of any Miss passes because we're still continuing to gel together and we know that she's a great passer so if she thinks she can get that ball there she's going to throw it and if if I miss it then it's we're we're good we all right wor good don't wor that inefficiency hasn't hurt the fever too much the Indiana Fever perennial underdogs clinch their first first playoff birth in 8 Clark individual accolades are just the beginning on to that accomplishment honestly like I'm just I'm just happy we won um like I've said like I take a lot of pride of being able to do a lot of different things for this team like I want to be able to I think we're really good when I can get the ball off the glass and just go in transition and find my teammates and set them up um but like obviously 13 assists like that means my my teammates made 13 13 shots on my passes so um that goes to them um but I mean I don't know she's so humble isn't she I don't know what to say like I I mean
