doing man Bryce I'm reporting to you live from Sunset Beach North Carolina one of my favorite places in the world my my first take of the day is that those that little strip of North Carolina beaches in the southern coast of North Carolina under underrated beaches some of some of the best beaches uh in the country I think and so I'm here Sunset Beach we do a big extended family trip every summer and I love it and you're right Fantasy Football Fantasy Football isn't work for me it's it's pleasure it's vacation you know and so it goes being being here with you is hand inand with an enjoyable vacation best part of my day today you know don't don't don't tell my family I said that I'm kidding I'm kidding I'm having a great day all around but I'm excited to be here with you brother absolutely no that's great I I I took my Beach vacation early in the summer so lots of mock drafting at that point but but now we're talking we're talking real draft we're talking uh Final Cuts are being made today so we are we are recording this and all of a sudden I mean lots of news is happening left and right so if we miss something today it's because it happened in the final hour of of Final Cuts as a Panthers fan seeing terce Marshall get cut uh that was okay wow there goes the second rounder but that's part of the deal um daic Prince got got cut from the Chiefs that was a little like oh maybe he's going to be the guy this year as a backup but not the case they found some other guys there so uh CDE Edwards Air looks like he's going to hang on in Kansas City but the biggest news we've got to talk about the the big wide receivers your boy cidd lamb finally got the contract we've all been waiting for Hallelujah man Jer you know Jerry and CI finally work things out you know they settled their differences and uh what he's second payest second High highest paid non-quarterback of all time so million dollars under what Justin Jefferson just got paid earlier this summer I I think CB deserves it I'm glad that he's going to be there for week one I do think that one thing we've seen over the past few seasons uh is that be playing together during the preseason does matter you know so I think there's this narrative that these preseason practices these preseason games uh they're skippable they they don't matter that much I don't want to have any hard fantasy takes based on what I see on the field in preseason but I think what we've seen the past few seasons especially as more and more the veterans are it's almost like they're looking for ways to miss the preseason workouts the preseason practices the preseason games it seems like they come out a little flat the first couple of weeks of the season so I would say that with everything that's gone on with the Cowboys this offseason it does make me a little more hesitant to take CD as the first wide receiver overall that said I love him as a player and I'm excited he's going to be there for for all of their their games so my My Philosophy has held up as as far as when I'm drafting and I see one of these guys with huge question marks or just kind of contract issues and and even sometimes injury issues as well it's all factored in I tend to avoid the the risks especially when I'm talking about the top three three top three overall picks with with CD lamb and including Jamar Chase in this conversation as well right um or at least first round picks or first three rounds that's that's where I'm I'm trying to be pretty safe so that I've got a solid foundation for my team and as I look back over the years those guys that held out to your point they start off slow or because they're not in the best of shape they're they're more likely to get injured and so that that always is a big concern for me the chemistry issues other teammates maybe not being on the same page with them and and so they understand it's a business so for the most part that's not usually the issue but all of that it just concerns me a little bit and when I look at the first round and I go all these guys are studs I'm probably not gonna get cidd lamb here I'd rather take bejon Robinson which I did so I did that twice um and so and then later on I I passed on Jamar Chase and took Jonathan Taylor instead of Jamar Chase and so now Jamar Chase apparently is back at practice his situation is still unique he may start the season and not get a deal so will he actually be out there but you know what direction I have gone I've been taking T Higgins in draft yeah yes so he's playing for for a contract and let's just say my theory on uh I get nervous about guys holding out or holding in or whatever if Jamar Chase doesn't work out this year who's gonna be the guy it's gonna be T Higgins so either way I feel good about Higgins and he's been going like pretty good value so I've been psyched I've been psyched to snag him a couple times um and then the third receiver to throw into the mix Brandon auk uh which we're still we still don't really have an answer on him either I think auk plays this whole season with the 49ers um the difference between uh auk and Jamar Chase uh and and versus lamb and Jefferson is that I they still have two years left on their this is not their final year of their rookie contract where they're holding out for an extension the team has control of both of those guys for this season and the next so they're not there's not a lot of urgency to I think that auk plays for the 49ers all season this year and the thing that I'm slightly worried about is that I think that Kyle Shanahan as well as John I I think that they hold a grudge a little bit you know so the this the whole emotional kind of personality Factor you don't want to have that front of mind when you're making these decisions about fantasy football but I I think there's a part of Kyle Shanahan that says this guy's been stringing us along all offseason and so when the rubber meets the road if it's a question of Debo KD and iuk who am I gonna kind of favor in our offensive scheme I think auk has shot himself in the foot a little bit with the way that he has behaved this off season there's and I would rather have Debo Samuel over auk um and I think KD is going to be the beneficiary as well so yeah I'm super worried about what things are going to look like for auk this season and I won't have him on any team because of where he's being drafted no it's crazy I have seen him fall a little bit but uh but yeah he's sliping a little yeah yeah I but did you did you say John Gruden you said Kyle Shanahan and John oh John Lynch did you say John Lynch yeah sorry John Lynch did I just hear John Gruden I've got my signed football here it gives me an excuse to talk about my my signed John Gruden football John Lynch John Gruden easy mistake to make just strong you know big jawbones former Bo man manly men yeah the GM for the 49ers John Lynch Not John guden yeah there you go I think guden Lynch will hold a grudge there yeah John guden doesn't have anything to do with this situation so we can we don't have to worry about that at least thank goodness yeah all right so we just gota yeah make sure we know what we're saying here but uh make sure I know what I'm hearing too um all right so the other kind of big thing newswise uh lots of injuries that's always a big part of it but specifically guys that will start the season on ir and pup there are a few guys that were wondering all right are they gonna be health healthy week one it looks like Jamir Gibbs is gonna be good uh Sam leapa uh jayen Warren some of those guys we were worried about the hamstrings all right they should be fine but when we talk IR pup there's like the NFI list I don't know what all these lists mean I just want to know are my guys playing or not but it seems like a bunch of these guys are are being added to this all three lists seem to be the exact same thing they're out for four weeks all right fine you're not gonna play for four weeks so what does that mean what do we do with Nick chub Jonathan Brooks T.J hackinson I'll even throw Keat Mitchell in there Marsha Lloyd so these are guys that you have to decide do I want to waste a bench spot and wait for these guys because you really believe in them and then when you're when you're drafting how late or how early are you willing to take some of these guys too uh Jonathan Brooks you got to pay a decent price for like in the draft that I was just in I was staring at him and I go if I draft him right now he's my rb2 I I can't do that but then another guy drafted him as his rb3 okay fine you can somewhat justify that you're hoping that hey in week five is going to come back and be a stud um so what has been your approach with these this kind of specific group of guys do you have a specific strategy or principal or now you've got draft coming up so will you target any of these guys and then I guess we also have to factor in it just depends on if you have an IR spot most of the leagues I'm in are two you have two IR spots and so if you can stash a guy it really just means you you extend your bench and so if that's the case there is a I I think you can make a case to Target these guys in the right round and it actually adds value because this is a 17-week season if we talk about playing in the the fantasy Championship yeah I don't hate this strategy of taking a guy that I know I can slot into my IR spot with my last pick of the draft and for me that guy might be Keaton Mitchell I think um you're hearing these things coming out of camp that they don't want to give Derk Henry every carry and kind of run him into the ground the Ravens are a team that they're playing for the playoffs they're playing for the Super bowl and I think they've already said they're going to work Justice Hill in a fair amount I think ke Mitchell when he's healthy is better than Justice Hill and so I'd love to take him at the very end if I have an IR slot if I don't have an IR slot I'm not drafting him uh I I Nick chub is such a great like a player that you love to root for and I don't want ever want to count him out I what with what happened to his knee I just don't think he's ever going to return to the form that we think of when we think Nick chub which means that Jerome Ford is being underrating uh with this Nick chub news I want Jerome Ford on my team similar Dynamic with Jonathan Brooks and chuba hubard I've already stated on an earlier podcast if the Panthers start off like two and eight three and seven I don't see any reason why they Rush Jonathan Brooks back and so I think chuba hubt is the starting running back for the Panthers until they're by which I think is week 10 week nine or week 10 so again that means that I'm not going to have Jonathan Brooks on my team because you have to take him so early you pointed out that he could be the kind of guy who wins you your your playoff games when the fantasy playoffs roll around and so with some of these guys I'm I'm kind of putting their names in the back of my mind and maybe I try to trade for them later in the season but man guys who start the season on the IR that just makes me nervous and especially with running backs I yeah I I just I I don't see myself having chub or Brooks on my team Keat Mitchell's a name just to keep in the back of your mind I think he's a guy to pay attention to later in the season he's such an athlete such a dynamic Runner uh that if he comes back healthy he could be a fun guy to have when your fantasy playoffs roll around but yeah and he would be a great compliment to Derrick Henry like because what what Mitchell did last year in very limited amount of touches was amazing now he's got had a major knee injury so he's got to come back healthy from that so that's a big if for sure but he is Young uh chub is a little bit older uh the one guy that I'm I'm I'm wrestling with is TJ hackinson I'm a big hackinson fan liked him in Detroit liked him he's been great in Minnesota one healthy uh I've avoided Minnesota I don't have any Vikings players on any of my three teams and so I'm and I'm okay with that I feel very good about that I brag about that I'm I'm strategic about that but but I have hackinson in a keeper League that I have to make a decision do I want to keep him stash him on the IR and I and I I may do that but but then then it it's a keeper so I have to decide decide all right is that worth him being one of my Keepers so um yeah but I am I I've snagged Marshon Lloyd as a backup running back in Green Bay because I am not a Josh Jacobs fan and AJ Dylan has crushed me he's crushed my heart too many times uh so I can't I can't do it again I'm not gonna put myself out there um so marshan Lloyd's he's he's gonna start on on the pup list or whatever so but he's a guy late in the season I think could could get some time get some action all right so there you go there's a couple thoughts on on some news uh you mentioned one thing uh you said the Panthers buy I I can't I don't know when the buy is but guess what I never worry about buys I'm not a buy guy I I I had this conversation after the draft on Sunday night I was telling some guys this I don't I'm not when I'm drafting my players the last thing I'm looking at is oh what buy do they have and some people say oh that's foolish that's silly you don't want six guys on the same buy well we're talking about August I mean it'd be awesome to have the same eight players as my starting lineup as what I've drafted but the chances are not going to happen I'm G to have injuries certain guys on my bench are going to be better than guys that I I've started I'm going to grab guys on waiver wire and so by week 10 my team's gonna look slightly different and the buys me if I was making decisions based on buys I just I don't think it's worth it that that's my opinion and let's just say Everything went perfect my team is great and I've got six guys on the Buy in week 10 and I lose that one fine it probably means I've got a great record up until that point so I can afford a loss if that's the case so I don't know if you agree or disag agree but that's my take yeah I totally I've been in draft rooms with those guys who think that they're playing 3D chess and so they won't take players with the same bye and all that stuff it doesn't matter it it just doesn't matter you know um you you can work that out as those by weeks come I do think that what we see in the real NFL is that they will use by weeks as kind of transition moments especially if the team is bad so if the team is bad they'll say let you know for for instance I think if jacobe brassette starts for the Patriots or if he isn't seriously injured I think the Patriots say the beginning of our schedule is brutal our offensive line is terrible we're not winning this season let's let's not start Drake May until we hit our bye you know and I just think with especially with the running back position that is so demanding and you just invested in a guy like Jonathan Brooks if you're the Carolina Panthers if you start off poorly you wait for that bye the the last six seven games of the Season you see what you got and Jonathan Brooks I think that is the most likely outcome I don't hear a lot of people talking about that they keep saying Brooks is coming back week four uh if if they're one in three in week four are they really rushing to get Jonathan Brooks into the game I don't think so but but you're right by weeks is sort of a drafting strategy just don't even look at it don't don't even think about it yeah you can work it out when it comes and if you if you're that guy who week 11 hits and you've got seven starters on buy then just just have a good laugh about it and I'm loosen a week 11 and you probably had a pretty good season leading up to that week so yeah the only POS like quarterback fine if you want to really are you're you're looking between two backup quarterbacks I I think that's fine that's probably that's probably a wise way to go but even then chances are you're going to drop that guy at some point the first five weeks and so you can you can make a trade closer to and you can work it this is a full season so you can you can make make that happen um all right we love talking fantasy the show we are passion about Jesus and so each week on this podcast and all throughout the season we do what we call breakouts and so we take fantasy Concepts relate them to the Bible relate them to life uh when you sign up as a a member you get that content for free in written form and today on the podcast and each week on the podcast trip and I will uh will'll unpack a topic and so today we're talking about this concept of perception verse reality and and so you know as we are drafting we have thoughts opinions beliefs and perspectives on different players we just shared a few uh you know and trip and I may agree disagree on different players you listen and you go wow that's not my thought on that player and and so we have perceptions right we we perceive this to be what this player is going to do this season we perceive that this is their role in the offense this is how good the team is going to be this year and so we are trying to gather information and ultimately make a judgment on these players and and whether or not we want to draft them when we want to draft them and how we put together a team but often times we aren't willing to draft a certain player because we have a bad feeling or impression of them and it's not always based on truth though we've we've bought into a wrong perception of that guy and that's why fantasy football is so crucial to factor in the feelings the stories the narratives consider them but then we also have to make sure we're looking at Stats and truth and and reality and and sometimes we can't figure out all the truth until the games are actually played but we have to be able to decipher the the the best we can and so trip when you think of different players that that you believe maybe the fantasy Community has the wrong perception of or maybe somebody that you feel like man my perception of this guy is this maybe I was wrong and the reality is this who comes to mind for you well yeah when you've been playing fantasy long enough you've got a background with certain players that you just you can't get past so for instance you're you're seeing uh cam Acres get some steam this preseason um he's looked better than Damen Pierce you know Joe Mixon is no Paradigm of Health at the running back position and so that Houston backup running back is something that you want to pay attention to I cannot have a healthy an unbiased perspective on cam Acres because the of the long journey that he and I have been on together maybe that's the one thing that Shawn McBay and I have in common as we have a complicated relationship with Cam acres and so I'm hearing all these news stories I can feel myself getting a little bit excited but I just I'm not going to touch him I I just know that my perception is totally different from reality and and I just don't know what to do with him and I just want to save myself the headache and not even bother with him I'll tell you the other one that comes to mind for me is that I have Kyle pittz on a dynasty team that i d i drafted him as a rookie he had that exciting rookie season um and then it's just it's been uh tough sledding ever since then and I don't know what to believe about Kyle pit so I find myself sitting there looking at him in redraft leagues this year and feeling and feeling like I love Kyle pittz I believe in Kyle pittz and I just don't know what to do with him uh and so my perception is hopelessly biased and and sort of uh corrupted by previous seasons of experience and those are two guys for me that just don't act ask me to have an accurate and unbiased take on them because I'm not capable of doing it I'm right there with you with Cam Acres he absolutely killed me last year I had him in the fifth round as a keeper and he was a total disappointment but but I I'm getting sucked in as well because he because I've always thought he was a good player and so that's why I wanted him last year and in that Houston offense there is a chance so what is the reality versus the perception of a couple other names that come to mind I was just at lunch with somebody was telling me about his fantasy team and he said he drafted Mike Evans or he kept Mike Evans and I go oh Mike Evans my perception of Mike Evans is he's older he's got Baker Mayfield the Bucks H I'm a Panthers fan my my perception of the Bucks is GH except for my uh John Gruden football over here um but but I but I'm just like I I never draft Mike Evans he's never been on my team so that's been that's just my perception of him but the reality is he's consistent he catches touchdowns he catches passes he's huge with yardage he's great he's one of the great wide receivers in the NFL and he's had different quarterbacks and and he's been the one constant and he's he's pretty healthy for the most part throughout his career so the the reality on Mike Evans is he's a guy you like to have on your team um but my perception has been wrong um I think Devin single ter is an interesting guy because the perception is he's a journeyman which he been he's bounced around from different teams he's not really that good but let's face it when he started in in Buffalo he had he had some some moments where he was like his rookie sees him he was averaging a ton of yards per carry uh but sometimes he he just wasn't as involved in the offense and he goes to Houston last year and he was the guy they they ran the ball to to dein sleary New York Sly they were Silly sillly that up Sly you like that uh foolishly it's probably better way to say that got rid of saquin Barkley well they replaced him with Deon single ter they're used to running the ball they're not going to depend on Daniel Jones throwing the ball all over the field sure they got Malik neighbors but I don't know how much you're gonna you know the passing attack they're gonna run the ball so Deon single ter the reality is he's going to be involved in the rushing attack and he's going to get touches um and so this perception that n he's just not that good you might miss out on some value because single ter is going pretty late in drafts and can give you at least least running back three production if not more um so you can go through the list I mean you know Amari Cooper Kirk Cousins uh I think Trey McBride the perception of him is that he's this epic legendary unbelievable tight end I read this the other day he's averaged less than 10 yards a reception for his career he has just four touchdown grabs in two years is Trey McBride really the next Travis Kelce I think that perception's off I really do I think this perception of Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals is way out of whack that that's my thought um they've gotten way too much hype for my liking but I think you've you like that perception so I I'll let you uh jump in on that the so the Cardinals last year before Murray came back were really really bad uh and and sort of the one bright spot was Trey McBride and and so with McBride it is not a this is a great example of the the dynamic you're talking about it the the eyeball test on McBride is that he looked like a really really good tight end but that could be just because everything around him with the Cardinals last year was so bad uh and when Murray came back there were a few plays where it just looks like okay this guy could be legit but I think it's too early to say and he's going as what the tight end three that feels a little Rich for from uh for me uh so I do believe in that the Cardinals offense is going to be dynamic and high scor ing um and I think McBride is going to be good I I don't know whether I think he's going to be the tight end three overall to to your earlier point during the offseason for people who pay attention to this stuff during the offseason there's nothing more exciting than discovering an unknown running back especially if it's like a UD like an undrafted free agent running back who's gonna supplant the veteran that everyone expects to be the starter if you discover that guy in July you feel so good a few years ago it was Isaiah Pacho you started to hear whispers about Isaiah Pacho and now he's the dude in Kansas City all summer long we've been hearing about Tyrone Tracy with the Giants we've been hearing about Chase brown with the Bengal and I think it's possible that just Devon single ter and Zach Moss are just these boring steady running backs that nobody feels cool when they call their shot on Devin single ter but he might just be the best running back on that roster and the Giants are going to run the ball I don't think it's Eric Gray it might be Tyrone Tracy but who knows you know so yeah the the the excitement of finding that diamond in the rough at RB feels really good when it pays off and this is something you and I have talked about before you remember your one hot take that comes through and you don't remember your 10 hot takes that fall short which is the great thing about fantasy football you don't have to remember all the terrible decisions you made you just remember that one really good one that you made but yeah the de the Deon single ter thing I think I'm probably just steering clear of that Giants backfield but it's just gonna it might just be boring you know he's the guy let me be clear I I am too but I'm just saying the reality it might be different than what our perception is like to me Devon single ter still gets a bad rap and I don't think that that's really the reality I mean he played pretty well in Houston last year so he he Sur planted uh Damen Pierce um so we have to we have to factor in the reality here and get to the get to the truth for a lot of these guys but we just we we buy certain narratives and we have this perception of of certain players and situations that that really aren't true and you know something going on in in with the LA Chargers my my one guy all all offseason has been kamani videll and some some report came out that he's gonna be a big guy on special teams this year don't buy that that's some silly that's some silly report get to the truth get to the reality the reality is they drafted this guy they targeted this guy this is Jim Harbaugh's pick he's gonna he's going to be in involved in this offense he's going to be I I believe he'll be the best of the running backs when all is said and done so I'm going to stay by that RE stand by that reality so there you go but the point of bringing all of this up is is to set up a a parallel for us in our own lives and and in really it plays out in three different different ways because you know in in fantasy when we view you know certain players the wrong way and and and and sometimes our perception has to change in in life often times our perception doesn't line up with truth and this comes this comes up in ways and how we view people and how we view ourselves and how we view God our perception is off and it needs to change and it needs to be grounded in in truth and reality and and so we we'll start with how we view other people and and all too often you know we judge someone wrongly based on a false narrative that that we believe about them and and our perception is that maybe they're doing something bad or they aren't something we somebody that we would like to know or our impression is that maybe they don't like us and however the truth of the matter is usually very different than our unfair perception and and so the this is what Jesus says in John 7:24 uh which hopefully helps us in these types of situations it he says do not judge by appearance superficially and arrogantly but judge fairly and righteously and so we want to get to the truth of who people you know really are and what their situation is and what's really going on before jumping to conclusions and sticking to a perception of somebody um and so we avoid you know certain people because of that or we avoid getting to know them because of that trip any any quick thoughts on on this side of the perception I mean the very first thing that the Bible tells us about other human beings and ourselves is that we're made in the image of God you know and and I think that is the great corrective towards the bias the arrogance the unrighteousness that I can treat other people with especially people who I disagree with who are or who are very different from me is that I forget that they're made in the image of God with ex extreme Supreme dignity and value and so yeah I think that the the correct to that Narrative of bias and of anger towards another person is to remember here's here's someone that God values greatly who God Treasures uh and who am I uh to to devalue them and to disrespect them so that that's what I want to keep coming back to when it comes to the narrative with other people the perception with other people absolutely and and then this plays out with how we view ourselves as well and so sometimes we view ourselves with too much pride or or arrogance and and so when when that happens we could be reminded of what Paul points out in Romans 12:3 uh he says because of the privilege and Authority God has given me I give each of you this warning don't think you are better than you really are be honest in your evaluation of yourselves measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us and and so we want to have humility we we want to view ourselves in in light of what trip just said that that God has created us God loves us we've been made in the image of God and and and ultimately though we are humble in in in response to God's grace and love and and and recognizing we are broken and and we are in need of a savior and and we we do fall short and that's why we need Jesus and so we we we keep that proper you know perspective and and and the right perception of ourselves uh in that as well so so trip any any additional thoughts I can't remember where I heard this Bryce but a few years ago I heard a pastor say that you know as humans one of the things that we're prone to is making ourselves significant in all the wrong ways and insignificant in all the wrong ways and so on the outside for me I think hey if I don't advocate for myself if I don't promote myself if I don't defend myself then no one's going to uh and on the inside I'm just riddled with insecurities and anxieties if anyone really knew the real me they could never accept me they would never like me if I confess my sin to others they're going to reject me and shame me uh and what Jesus does with the gospel is he comes along and he makes us insignificant and all the right ways and significant in all the right ways he says hey that you you are not the center of the universe you are not the hero of the story and so stop pretending like you've got to be the one who achieves and succeeds because if you don't no one else will but at the same time he says man does God love you man does God value you he holds you you as a person with great worth if you're in Christ he counts you as a son or as a daughter he loves you and so I don't have to advocate for or defend myself anymore I'm free from that that's what humility means humility mean doesn't mean self-deprecation or kind of thinking of yourself as as dirty and shameful uh it just means being free from selfishness and self-centeredness free to live the story uh and the adventure of loving others and caring for others that God has called you to yeah so again Jesus wants to subvert the bad perception that I have of myself the the inadequate and inaccurate perception that I have of myself that's exactly it because yeah we can think really highly of ourselves or really bad about ourselves we just gota we got to view it through the the lens of of Truth and and not thinking that yeah we're worthless or we're a failure no we're valuable not because of our own greatness but because of who we are in Christ and and adopted in to the the family of God and and that he he values us and he gives us uh that that value so the the the last piece of this as far as perception versus reality people's perception of God and my perception of God can can be off a at times and and we can you know buy wrong narratives uh about him and and and have the the wrong perception of his character and who he really is and so you know we we we have to be careful you know not to have misguided feelings about him that that would lead us to avoiding him or undervaluing how amazing he is and how loving he is and how he he wants to know each of us in a in a a personal way and and so in order to uh you know help us think rightly and understand the truth uh here here's a good prayer from Ephesians 1 17- 19 this is the the Amplified translation he said Paul Paul is praying this he goes I always pray that the god of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of Glory May Grant you a spirit of wisdom and of Revelation that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight into the true knowledge of him for we know the father through the Sun and I pray that the eyes of your heart the very center and core of your being may be enlightened flooded with the light by the by the holy spirit so that you will know and cherish the hope the Divine guarantee the confident expectation to which he has called you the riches of his glorious inheritance in the Saints God's people and so that you will begin to know what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of his active spiritual power is in us who believe these are in accordance with the working of his mighty strength so that's a there's a lot there there's a lot again Ephesians 17 and 19 but but we want to pray to have that that that knowledge and and that understanding and and our eyes opened our heart our heart opened to understand God and who he is and and listen it goes beyond and it's deep and it's a never ending uh wonderful uh uh River of goodness but uh but but we but but we do have the ability to understand his character versus the the false perceptions of him and so we can move past those lies and those things that are preventing us from from seeing God for who who he really is I love that man and you're right there is a lot there and the reason there's a lot there is because this is a journey that we'll be on for the rest of our lives and in fact a journey that we be on for all eternity we'll always be discovering new things about God we'll never get bored of him which means you don't have to have it all figured out right now you know if you're like man I know a little bit about God I want to know more but there's so much that I don't know uh not only is that not a bad place to be but hey you're in good company that's that's the story of the the whole Bible and that's going to be the story of Eternity so we really can pray hey Lord by the power of your Holy Spirit open my heart to understand who you really are you you use the word narrative Bryce and that's exactly there are so many cultural narratives about what God is like and almost all of them sort of turn God into a caricature they overemphasize one detail or one character trait to the neglect of all the other beautiful things about God uh and and the way that we you know heal from that heal from those imperfect and incomplete narratives is to meet God in his word and ask him to reveal himself to us and he really will answer that prayer he loves to show us what he's like and the main way that he does it is in the person Jesus so yeah let's let's be grounded in truth and so we've got to actually dive into God's word not just you know listen to what other people or whatever narratives or are talking about God no let's get to know him for ourselves and and and through his word and how he reveals himself to us um and so just like we're talking today about fantasy football there's a lot of perceptions out there let's get to the truth let's get to the reality and and same same for us in our beliefs and thoughts about others about ourselves and and most importantly about God so I hope that that's encouraging for us today I know it is to me um this perception vers reality so that's this week's breakout good Insight from from trip uh and again you can find more breakouts all all season long at Fantasy footall fellowship.com well with a few minutes left here on today's show uh I want to just continue to talk drafts and and certain players and and kind of what we're learning and strategies and and hopefully for for those of you that are entering into maybe your final drafts this this next week uh trip I think you said you have five coming up so you're in full draft mode it's go time that's right man draft season baby yeah I'm G to have a four- day stretch with five drafts I can't wait I love draft yes it is a blast I've I've had fun I will say this uh I drafted seventh overall in my last two drafts and my teams are way different it is wild one was on fan tracks one was on ESPN and so when you're drafting online and you see the players right in front of you it changes how the draft goes it it really does and so um I will say though what I've stuck with I have hted the quarterback position so far this season and I was okay in my first draft I ended up with Jared G in a 14 Team league I'm I'm okay in my second draft I landed with Jaden Daniels who I was a little hesitant about on last week's show but I I got him at a good price and then I followed that up with Trevor Lawrence and so I feel really good about that on-two punch heading into the year however my decision to punt cost me dearly in in the 12-man league on Sunday night at church I wanted Trevor Lawrence and the guy right before me sniped him I got sniped I got sniped all night long it was one of those drafts where nothing was falling my way on Wednesday it seemed to be falling my way I felt pretty good Sunday night the opposite I wasn't getting my exact guys it was a weird draft for me guys were going way earlier than anticipated so you have to but you have to adjust and thankfully I was able to land on Jared G because if I didn't I was in big trouble so now I am riding high on Jared G um that was that was one thing um and then because I things didn't go exactly how I thought I ended up getting Garrett Wilson in The the 18th overall spot and here's a player that I never put on my draft board I'm not real into the Jets I don't I'm not totally convinced of Aaron roggers but we know the talent with Garrett Wilson is there we've seen it with our eyes he's very good and coming out of Ohio State he's a stud and so to get him as my number one wide receiver I took Jonathan Taylor in the first round um that onew punch I I feel pretty good about with with the seventh pick uh to get both of those guys um so anyway that so that's my two lessons are are this be willing to adapt if value Falls to you so Garrett Wilson fell to me and I go I can't pass on Garrett Wilson even though he hasn't been on my board I I've got to take him here and so you have to be willing to do that now there are certain guys that are on my do not draft list that I I'm still passing on him Jaylen Wadd he was sitting on sitting there and I know you like him but I the value is there and I go I can't take him I'm not doing it I can't pull the trigger and so I didn't I did not but with Garrett Wilson I I did um I still can't make up my mind on javante Williams I I don't know when to take him I don't know when I feel comfortable taking him and and I'd feel the same way about Brian Robinson so I haven't been able to take him either I I don't like I I'm not against him I just don't know when to get him so I don't know there's any been any players that you're still wrestling with you're not sure how you feel about them um or guys that maybe you'd be willing to to draft that yeah normally I don't want them but if you fell I would I don't know any guys that come to mind for you yeah as I'm doing mock drafts and and a a couple of best ball drafts what I'm realizing is that I want to wait on running back and quarterback and I want to load up on some high-end wide receivers early I think I'm coming around on the idea of also wanting those one wanting one of those stud tight ends so for I mean Garrett Wilson if you ask me pick a wide receiver outside of the big five who could finish as the wide receiver one overall the answer there is Garrett Wilson easy for me so if I don't get Aman rosate brown or one of those first five guys uh Garrett Wilson is the one that I want uh and so I I mean 18th overall I can't believe that I feel great about that um yeah I I mean there are I still think you know it depends on the other thing that what you said highlighted is pay attention to the platform that you're drafting on because some of those platforms with their rankings in your draft room adjust much faster to news than other ones do and so on ESPN I still think that Cooper cup is undervalued if you're drafting on ESPN he still hasn't risen enough up the the draft boards and so I feel great about taking him um I just think that the whole we talked about this before it happened right so you and I predicted this don't let anyone tell you otherwise we were the first ones to say the Jaguars are going to be much better this season go than they were last season they looked good in the season but baby they look good yeah and and I just think Trevor Lawrence is healthy I think etn is is is great and is going to be great again this season uh and so yeah I mean I I think waiting and getting Lawrence as like the 15th quarterback overall now again you got to pay attention to what's happening in your draft and if guys if there's a run on QBs and dudes are drafting their Backup backup quarterback before you have your first one you you better you better act quickly um but but I'm generally willing to I I think right there 14 15 16 is Tua Trevor Lawrence and Jared G and and I'm willing to take any of those guys with the understanding that maybe I'm looking to Pivot or to make a trade down the road but they're all going to have strong starts to the season I'm happy to wait on quarterback this year so the one position that I want one of them in the top probably six rounds is a tight end I I want one of the better tight ends you can get some maybe you know throw some Dart Dart throws later in the draft that's fine it's your second tight end but I I actually want to secure one of those guys so so far Evan Ingram let's go he looked great in preseason I've got him I've got Sam lorta and I finally got my boy Dalton conc so I did I did him uh in theur League Sunday night so uh so those are my three tight ends so I want one of those guys I got leaport I think in the third round which I felt comfortable with I'm not necessarily going up to grab him in the second round but if he falls to the third I feel more comfortable uh with him um and now knowing that his his hamstring hopefully isn't isn't an issue he'll be ready for week one um and then I'm trying to think the other guy that I would take those are basically the three those are the three tight ends that I want one of those guys in my in my drafts I don't hate the strategy of taking Mark Andrews and then if you have a deeper bench so if your bench is bigger than let's say five bench players if you got a six or eight bench player League getting Isaiah likely late in the draft if you can hold on to him I think Andrews is is good and if he stays healthy he's gonna be pretty solid if he gets hurt I think Isaiah likeley immediately vaults up into that kind of tight inone conversation if I don't get one of those let's say seven or eight top guys I think it's probably like the seven where Ingram somewhere around round eight um I'm waiting on tight end I hope he's he should be six but yeah I hear you think so yeah I think if I don't get okay maybe pittz Ingram uh they're they're all around there maybe I think about in joku if I don't get one of those top seven guys let's say I'm waiting till the end of my draft and if taes Hill is tight end eligible I'm putting Tamm Hill in a tight end because Dennis Allen the Saints quarterback has an enormous man crush on tames Hill uh and and tames Hill looks like he's going to be their Red Zone running back I so you're you're buying the perception you're buying the perception hey let hey check check with me check back in six weeks man but I just think Tamm Hill there are GNA be weeks where he giv you gives you four points and then there are going to be weeks where he gives you 20 points and if I don't get one of those stud tight ends I'm happy to wait till the end and just get a guy who might win me the week uh and and and if I put him in there and he scores Five Points one week I probably don't feel that bad about it because it was the last position that I drafted but hey look man every Dennis Allen is in love with Tamm Hill Dennis Allen may not be the coach of the Saints by week five yeah no kidding but but for now he he likes him some taes Hill um and and chra is GNA be more of a receiving back I just think when they get in the Red Zone I think taes Hill is gonna score a bunch of touchdowns again this season so I I'm happy to be disagreed with on this man but I I I believe I I understand the The Narrative but I just I can't buy it now in a best ball I think Tamm Hill is probably a good good late round guy because he'll give you the one big week the two big weeks maybe if they really made him their official goal line guy Perhaps Perhaps but he's gonna play five positions this year Bryce that's everything they've been say to the St there is a chance that the Saints are the worst team in the NFL there's a that could that could definitely happen this year so don't be Sur Ur rised by that either so I they're kind they're probably the team that I just don't have a good grasp of um man my Panther blood is really coming out the Bucks the Saints but I'm all in on Atlanta I got beon in in multiple leagues now so um still haven't been able to grab grab Drake London yet but all right let's wrap up with this talk about late round guys and and we'll even start with tight ends so I've I've drafted uh Ben I still don't even know how to say his name Ben sonat uh Ben on my the French the French pronunciation Ben s yeah maybe Ben maybe that's better that sounds better than sonat it feels like sonat gonna be on my team after week one um but uh but I did draft him as the Washington rookie uh playing hopefully instead of Zach Herz but that may take a few weeks um but I like him and then I think Tyler Concklin we talked before the show he was solid last year with no quarterback play if Rogers is healthy Tyler Concklin could be one of the more uh targeted guys in that offense um other guys that I've maybe mentioned even in throughout the summer of course at the end of drafts taking kamman viel uh Bucky Irving the that's the one guy I do like in Tampa Bay because I'm not a big Rashad white guy the the running backs I don't like Aaron Jones Josh Jacobs and Rashad white those are the guys I I don't like drafting running backs in that part of the draft I want their backups um and so Bucky Irving is the guy in in Tampa Bay and then Jaylen Wright I'm starting to come around on two with the dolphins it's like man he's their third guy but let's just say aan is just sort of a like big home run guy but not a consistent guy like that there's a possibility of that and then what if Moser is just old like maybe he doesn't like he's not gonna repeat what he did last year Jaylen Wright's the the the rookie that could come in and and Mike McDaniel falls in love with him and gives him a ton of Carri so it's gonna be a little crazy in Miami I think there's so many weapons they got a lot of it's a good offense so Jaylen Wright's one of those guys at the right price I'm I like targeting him who are your final picks in drafts to your point about Aaron Jones I am ending up with Tai Chandler on a lot of teams I think that Tai Chandler is already sort of the 1B to Aaron Jones 1A and if Chandler gets hurt uh then he then he will be the um excuse me if Jones gets hurt then Ty Chandler is going to be the dude uh t rb1 type guy uh second I think I love Rico Dole maybe you saw the news yesterday that umin uh what did they bring in dman cook right Dalin cook that does not wor worry me about Rico D at all what I think that that means is that they do not believe in Ezekiel Elliott and so they're gonna um they're gonna have D be the guy and I think that he is going to be a good RB one there so I love both of those guys late late in drafts it the injury history for D is my concern there but I like him more than Zeke so if I if I need if I was desperate for running back help late in the draft D I'd consider him for sure so I'm with you but all right trip you
