e e all right welcome folks all of you who are tuning in to the Rapid City Christian uh live stream channel my name is Kevin H I'm excited to bring you the second game of this fall tournament for Rapid City Christian as they will take on shadron our neighbors from the south both of these teams won their opening matches in pool play so this is uh they're both one and0 and so the winner of this will be seated first in bracket play and the loser will be seated number two and bracket play will get started uh shortly after this matchup so Rapid City Christian shadron and New Underwood are in the same pool Rapid City Christian beat New Underwood 25-4 and 2513 and their two uh and their two set sweep and then shadon also beat New Underwood in two sets 2514 2513 and so both teams will come into this one undefeated in the tournament battling for that top seed and once seeding takes place the first matchup will be against the number two and three seeds from both pools and the winner that will take on the top seed uh in pool number two we have uh St Thomas Moore Hill City and St Francis uh St Francis is 0 and2 so they're going to be the three seed uh St Thomas Moore and Hill City are about to battle for that top seed in pool number two and once the brackets are set we'll give you the information on who's playing who and when the first play the first games will be the two and three seeds so whoever wins this one there will be if Rapid City Christian is able to win this one and gain that number one seed uh they will have a a break before their next game uh if they lose they will pretty much be in action right away hopefully we'll have that by and we'll be the top seed now rap State Christian has hosted this fall tournament for I believe uh they said this is the sixth season so the sixth year that we have hosted this tournament and the Comets have won every year so far uh this year little for challenge um you know St Thomas Moore is a great team shadr's a good team uh and Rapid City Christian is they've had a much different roster uh lost a lot of great players from last year's team that made a historic run to the state finals uh where they lost to sou Falls Christian in four sets uh but you lo you you lose players like Anna eggy who was uh just instrumental you know uh she was an Allstate player had an had a great state tournament run and a great State title game as well so you lose her uh Faith King who was a key part of last year's last year's team she is a senior this year but unfortunately she injured I believe her ACL and she is going to be out uh for the season more than likely and so that's a huge loss for Crystal Weber's team but she's got a great mix of of other players there only two seniors on the roster this year uh right Lin and Claren uh many of the players getting playing time early in the season are the are Juniors or underclassman and so a very young Squad compared to what we had last year for Rapid City Christian uh but a long season and so they lost their first game on Thursday against Douglas lost in three set three sets three to nothing which um certainly was not the case last year there were very few games like that the Comets I had a great record obviously runner up in the state finals I don't believe they ever lost three to nothing last year and so that was a certainly I think a wakeup call a little bit now the comments knew that this is a different team coach Weber she knows this is a different team young team uh they've got to build some chemistry they've got to grow in their uh you their skills lot of young a lot of young girls so and they've dealt with injuries you know besides besides Faith King they've been a number girl just nursing minor injuries that have kind of been in and out of practice and so it's going to a while before coach Weber's able to I think really solidify that lineup and her rotation but a good start to to this game as they they came out hot in that first set against New Underwood winning 25 to4 and then they put that one away with a 2513 win in the second set now they look to uh to take out shadon trying to earn that number one seed for bracket play so both teams are on the court and we are uh just a few seconds from from getting started so if you are watching from one of our visiting teams I apologize we do not have there are no rosters and so um apologize if you do not hear one of your uh one of the the names of your girls from from your schools uh Rapid City Christian fans though we have yours and on the floor to start for the comments Paisley Griffith is the labero we have Junior Samantha wary and Miley Johnson sophomores Khloe Weber freshman Addie eggy and eighth grader l king uh L is number 37 eighth grader starting and she's going to get a lot of lot of play ins time uh a very skilled very skilled player she had a great service game in in game number one and it looks like shadon will start with the [Applause] serve and here we go and the first serve is an Ace from the Cardinals and they get on the board first one to nothing sering to the back row Griffith bups it eggy over to Chloe Weber Weber as she wound up for that Spike she got it just with the fingertips wasn't able to get a good hit on hits into the net and an early 20 lead for shadon that serve is going to be long out of bounds Rapid City Christian on the board two to one and L King will serve first for the [Applause] Comets L put together a good service match for her first game she had a couple good runs one of eight straight points and another of I believe six she this one into the back row shadon she going to have to bump it over on the attack Miley Johnson Johnson kills that one of the great assist by eggy great timing on that one and we are tied at two [Applause] King into the back row shadra not able to to set much up with that Chloe Weber great effort cuz that was a bad pass she tried to get it over but uh goes around the side that's going to be a point to the Cardinals 3-2 shadon Weber sets it up tried to set up Johnson little off on the to there back row L King not able to keep that one in play and shadon up four to two in the first [Applause] set myy Johnson bumps out in the front row Griffith gets it over to May Callahan number 36 Junior May Callahan into the game for the first time she is blocked at the n so shadron has reeled off three consecutive points and they continue to [Applause] surve Callahan just has to bump that over shattering with the opportunities nice block at the net by Chloe Weber and Weber's excited for that one great job by Weber timing that one out just right and the junior Paisley Griffith to serve good job by shadon just keeping that one alive Aggie sets it up for Callahan off the fingertips still still in play and that one is called out of bounds it is 5 to four make that six to four after the serve out of bounds 64 shadon with the early lead W Griff isth great job to get over there and keep it alive the L King could not get it back over the net Chloe Weber her angle on that one was a little off and so instead of going forward it went backwards made it difficult P the griffi with a great effort to try and keep it alive not able to 74 shadon grip with bumps eggy sets it up for Weber Weber underhanded got it over nice job shatter tries to go AC Cross Court but that's out of [Applause] bounds into the game for the Comets number 10 brein Hermanson The [Applause] Freshman Weber serves K set it up Weber to Hermanson good dig there by shadon Weber to freshman Jaden gray who's in for the first time bumps it over looks like a net violation on the Cardinals 7 to six comets inching their way back Weber still to [Applause] serve Le into the back row shadon just has to bum over Weber over to Callahan Callahan tries to go back row but a little too long point to the Cardinals 86 shadon here in the first set of what will determine the number one and number two seeds in bracket play nice serve Hermanson a nice got some good uh speed on that but a good dig by shadon and it's still alive P the Griffins gets it over shattering on the attack just Taps it over but a good save make Callahan she Taps it back it didn't work for shadon but it did work for Callahan and the [Applause] Comets 87 Junior Samantha Wy back onto the floor She Will for the Comets trailing by just one [Applause] point and shadon out of bounds on that one and we are tied so comets have have erased that deficit we are now at eight a piece wary into the back row Weber bumps Hermanson tries to set it up a little too [Applause] long and looks like a little bit of a carry there called on the comet so point to shadon as they regain the lead 98 Leber sets it up over to King King just outside the line had the right idea it was open in the back corner but a little too far 108 shadon King on the return it's she wasn't trying to get over the net but it it went over the net and was fortunate for the Comets kind of one of those was like right above the net little awkward for both sides it falls in play point given to the comments but there is some discussion among the officials I think the shattering coach is arguing that the Comets were in the net and they're going to they're going to win that argument and so shadron will get the point instead of 109 shadon is going to be 11 to8 so they overturn that call shadon still to serve Griffith Weber sets it up for Hermanson Hermanson skies for the kill but hits it into the net Crystal Weber is going to take a timeout for Rapid City Christian one challenges with losing some players with injuries and what she's looking forward to this year among uh this batch of players so we'll have that for you just a few minutes after the conclusion of this game all right players are back on the the floor wary bumps it Weber sets it up to King and that is tipped at the net by a shadon player so that'll be point to the Comets nice power shown by the eighth grader l king 129 Jaden gray now to serve for the Comets on the floor for Rapid City Christian we've got freshman Jaden gray the eighth grader l king freshman Brin Hermanson sophomore Chloe Weber Junior Samantha wary and Miley Johnson and that one's going to be out of bounds point to shadon 13 to9 we got another discussion among the officials not sure what this one is about looks like maybe the Side official had a touch saying that it was tipped and so another reversal this one goes the comet's way so 1210 they said that ball was tipped by a shading player so point to the comments gray serves into the back court nice dig there by Jaden Mila Johnson hits it into the back court shadon on the attack great BT by Samantha warkey but some miscommunication Miley Johnson Chloe Weber were both there I think they it's one of those situations where they thought the other one was going to get it so the effort by wary uh is for not as that ball falls to the ground point to shadon 1310 Cardinals and that one is way too hard and out of bounds 1311 and freshman Addie eggy number four is serving for the comet she's back into the game well this is shapen up to be a very close match between two looks like pretty even teams eggy the Lefty gets it into the back court and a miss hit on that attempt from shadon comets back within one 13- 12 eggy into the back court again shatter on the attack tip it over but they're going to be called in the net as the player was able to get it over but hit the net on her way or on the attempt and the game is tied once again 13 all Rapid City Christian has not had the lead since very early on looking to maybe gain the lead they've tied it a couple times and I gave the old announcer jinx as soon as I said that serve into the net the 1413 [Applause] shadon Griffith bumps set by eggy across Court to Weber nice dig by the labero for chadon Aggie sets it up that set goes over the net and then it's hit twice they going call A A carry there on the shadon player so tied up once again at 14 a piece l king to serve May Callahan back on the floor for the Comets she wears number 36 King with the serve eggy over to Weber nice recovery by Weber as she was blocked but got it back over Johnson to eggy eggy sets it up for Callahan and Callahan able to get it across and it falls to the floor for the point Rapa City Christian their first lead since early on in this set 1514 King gets the ace dropped that one beautifully right in the middle and King having another good service run here four straight points and they let that one go that one's a little long and ball will go back to shadron with their trailing now 16- 15 so good run there by King one of the few service erors she's made all morning eggy bumps it up Weber to the back row for eggy eggy tries to go Cross Court but that is long and we are tied again at [Music] 16 the final first [Applause] was H got that serve is going to be long and out of bounds Rapid City Christian will now serve again leading 17 to [Applause] 16 hazy Griffith to serve for the Comets some trouble with the return but they do get it over Jaden gray set up by Addie eggy but gray is blocked at the Nets and we are tied once again this time at 17 sub tions for [Applause] shadon and shadon on the [Music] serve into the back row Griffith lets it Go overhead and a good decision there as that's out of bounds 1817 Christian in the lead Hermanson back on the floor for the Comets she is joined by by gray Callahan Griffith King and Weber who is serving and Weber's going to return the favor she's going to serve hers out of bounds so both teams trading service errors and back in fourth we go 18 [Applause] all they let that go thinking it might go out of bounds but it is called in Shad regains a 1918 and Crystal Weber wants to take another time out for the Comets as we are approaching the uh the closing moments of the first set so a good first set this one's been going back and forth neither team is led by more than two points and right now it's shadon with a one-point lead and they will be serving when the players are back on the floor so the comments hosting their fall tour for the sixth year in a row again in their pool with with shadron we also have new Underwood in pool number two is St Thomas Moore Hill City and St Francis St Thomas Moore and Hill City are playing in our other gym for uh to determine who's going to be the one and two seed in that pool and then we will set things up for pool play uh happening shortly after these games finish [Music] and then the Comas will be back in action for another home uh home match on Tuesday September third against Alliance [Music] Nebraska serve Griffith was calling out I think she wanted Callahan to let that go but Callahan tried to tried to bump it up unable to it goes out of bounds off of her hands shattering 20 to 18 and another Ace for the shadon server that one again off of Callahan's arms she tried to bump it up it goes behind her 218 comets need to stop the run hoping to do so right here serve it to the net but a good job by Griffith to save that shatter on the attack now they're going to hit it into the net that was a nice dig by Paisley Griffith that serve hit the net slowed it down changed the trajectory but Griffith is able to get the arm underneath it bump it up comets able to get the point they regain serve trailing 2119 Junior Samantha wary back in the game to serve wary into the back row not able to do much with that but it is still alive good set over to King but a good dig by shadron tapped over Heron bumps it up Griffith sets it up for King King again shadon able to keep it alive good rally going on going on here Hermanson to the back row shadron on the attack and they just tap it over over the outstretch arms of Paisley Griffith nice play there by the by the Frontline player for shadon and they have a 2219 lead here in the first [Applause] set Weber sets it up for Hermanson Hermanson into the back row kept alive though is shattering able to get it back over gray to Weber Weber Cross Court to King King off the hands of the shadon defense and down point for the Comets 22- 20 so great back and forth match both teams making some runs Jaden greena serving for the Comets hoping to start a run of her [Music] own a little long and right back over to shadon 2320 substitutions gray is going to take a seat Griffith back on the floor for the Comets shadron with some substitutions as well just two points away from capture this first set and that one's long so we've had a a flurry of service errors in the the latter half of this match now eggy back on the floor to serve with the Comas trailing 23-21 eggy the Southpaw deep in the back row played by the Cardinals wary Buffs it eggy sets it up for Weber Weber into the back but long looking for a touch but nobody touched that one so set point here for shadon 24-21 as the shadon players and fans are clapping encouraging them but another service there out of bounds and so the Comets save off one set [Applause] point l king the eighth grader back to [Applause] serve and she's going to get a service Ace as shatter unable to get that back over the net 2423 three they save off a second set point let's see if they can do it one more time set point number three for shadon but the Comets have been successful on the first [Applause] two King serves into the back row shattered on the attack just has to bump it over and that's out of bounds out of bounds and we are tied at 24 it is Win by two so we will have some we will have some extra points here in set one three straight make it four straight for El King from the service [Applause] line and a timeout by shadon the Comets Trail 24 to 21 but they have stayed they staved off three consecutive set points and now they're going to have their first set point when we return from the timeout so a great response by the Comets L King has had a solid Service uh service day both in game one and now again in game two just by watching her play you wouldn't know she was an eighth grader highly skilled obviously has great volleyball IQ and so she's going to be one to uh to watch and see just how she grows through her uh through her really first Varsity season seeing all kinds of playing time so that'll be [Applause] exciting and we are back on the floor set point for the Comets leading 25 to 24 looking to get a leg up on Shadd in this three set Match Into the back shattered on the attack set it up Griffith digs it out Aggie sets it up to Callahan Callahan into the back row Miss hit by shadon and Rapid City Christian they come from behind trailing 24 to 21 five straight points and the Comets take set one to take a one lead here in this final match of pool play again the winner will be the one seed going into the bracket play the loser will take uh will be the two seed and will play in the first round of bracket play so a great response by the Comets just back and forth most of the game shadon had a late run to get to set point 24-21 but the Comets aided by a service error but they were able to uh to bring it all the way back and with five straight service points from l king they earn the first set Victory and now have the advantage shadon is going to have to win two sets in a row if they want to come back and win this match well folks it's we are in the throws of another fall Sports season uh volleyball had their first game Thursday across country golf girls tennis uh our football team played their first game last night for those of you that that maybe watch the uh the live stream from Canton a tough loss we went into a uh the preseason number one uh Canton uh they were undefeated last year and the Comets they had a lead late in that game and unfortunately uh Canton was able to put in a touchdown in the closing seconds to earn the victory 20 to 16 but the Comets uh comets football team high expectations they moved up a class this year to 11a from 11b they made the playoffs got all the way to the semifinals where lost to Hot Springs uh the eventual 11b champion and this year they move up to 11a so facing some stiffer competition the first three weeks Canton sou Falls Christian and Del Rapids three really good teams sou Falls Christian is going to be our first home game coming up this Friday September 6th so make sure to join us for that we will be streaming that live for you uh here from the Comets home field and also on Tuesday we will have another volleyball game as the girls will be back in Action playing against Alliance Nebraska Varsity start time is scheduled for 6 o' with the c and JV games coming right before [Applause] that well the teams are back on the floor getting ready for set number two Rapid City Christian with the early one to nothing lead early one set To None lead looking to put this one away on the floor to start for the Comets l king Addie eggy paisy Griffith Samantha warkey chloey Weber and Miley Johnson so you got an eighth grader a freshman a sophomore and three Juniors and it'll be l king continuing her service run five straight to end that first set looking to keep it going here in set number two Aggie sets up for Johnson Johnson with the kill tick by shadon but it falls to the [Applause] floor and the Comets strike first l king that is six consecutive service points going back to the first set and she gets the ace as she placed that one perfectly on the side shadon tried to get a left arm under it but hits it into the crowd make that seven consecutive points for King into the back row bumped up set for the back row into the Nets [Applause] and the Comets continue their run from the first set they've got a three-oh lead here early on King into the back row set up blocked at the net by Weber and Johnson still alive Weber on the [Applause] attack and add a kill to Weber's total 4 nothing Rapid City Christian eight consecutive service points by L King and King again into the back [Applause] row that time Nice Nice kill by number two for shadron King got a hand on it but just not enough to get it in the air for her teammates but a good service run by L King with eight consecutive points going back to the first set and the comments with a 4-1 lead here in set number two Aggie sets it up for Johnson Johnson into the net that set was just a little behind so Johnson had to reach back for it couldn't quite get the power she normally gets hit that into the top of the net comets were not able to save it four- [Applause] two good job by Johnson to keep that alive comets get it over shadra now on the attack into the back row King to eggy eggy over to Chloe Weber again eggy a little long on that pass [Applause] attempt Weber tried to get it over not able to hits it into the net and three consecutive points for shadron after four straight to start for the commons [Applause] Miley Johnson Taps it over almost got it but a good save there by shadon King eggy sets it up for Weber good pass good dig though by the labero for shadon into the back row and out of [Applause] bounds and Comet will retain possession or regain possession excuse me Junior p hazley Griffith the labero is back to [Music] [Applause] serve and a good job by number two for shad and just Taps that over to where there were no comets Weber and Callahan were at the net looking to block it and a great job by the shadon player to just tap it into that empty space and just like set number one it looks like we're going to go back and forth again here in set number two Khloe Weber tried to go Cross Court but hits that one out of bounds and we are tied at five it's a good job by sh shadron after trailing early 4 nothing they've gone on a 5-1 run of their own Callahan bumps it up Weber's just going to have to bump it over shadon now on the attack into the back row King eggy and Weber again just got to bump it over Addie yagi sets it up for gray that pass was a little low gray got it over but she got into the Nets and so point to the Cardinals and they now have their first lead of this set six to five Callahan they're call it in right on the line says the side judge and we are tied at six Nice Shot there by May Callahan right down the [Music] side shadrin's coach is not doesn't agree with the call now we're going to have another discussion among the officials they bring in the line judges as well as all four officials are meeting at the at the net we saw this a couple times in the first set and both times the point was overturned this time the point will remain with the comment 66 and Khloe Weber back to serve [Applause] shadron can't do much with that just has to bump it over Weber tries to set up Callahan good block but a good job for the Comets are keeping it alive and the block there by Hermanson the freshman and Rapid City Christian regains the lead 7 to6 Weber on the serve into the back row and she's going to get the ace on the miss hit by the shadron player on the floor for the Comets Weber King Griffith Callahan Hermanson and gray good Serve by Weber good dig though by shadra they keep it alive Weber sets up Hermanson good dig by shadron again Cross Court dug out by Griffith Weber Cross Court to Callahan Callahan hits it whether or not great shot by Callahan as she gets the kill and a nice pass there by uh Weber I believe on the assist nine to six now we have another official timeout at the scorebook this time look maybe some substitution confusion and we're back 9 to six commas with the lead Weber to serve into the back row return into the net shatter and unable to dig that out 10-6 four straight points for Weber Comet already with the one set To None lead and the ace by Weber it falls in the middle of the shadon players five straight points that's going to bring a timeout from the shadon sideline so ever since the they trailed 24-21 in the first set the Comets have found another gear they had five straight to close out set number one and they've had a great start to set number two leading 11 to6 with another fivepoint run so far by kloe Weber and [Music] Counting again stick around after this match we're going to talk to coach Christa Weber to get her thoughts on the uh on the games so far today um on the season outlook what she's looking forward to players to watch um yeah so that will be that'll be just a few minutes following this match which the comments hope is after this set shatter hoping to extend it to a third set but right now they've got some work to do trailing 116 here in set number two already down by one set Weber back to the service line Weber into the back row Nice kill but what a dig by L King great job to keep that alive Callahan into the back row Weber digs it out to Griffith Griffith sets up for Callahan again off the hands of the shattered player and down to the floor 126 what a great rally number 10 for Shadd put some power into that shot but what a great dig by the eighth grader l king to keep that alive with the Comets able to get the point and Weber service game still going over the net now Weber sets it up for Jaden gray gray puts it down the kill for gray on the assist from Weber seven straight points for the comets substitution for shadon and Weber back to the service line Weber tries to go down the sideline and just misses tried to place that one right on the line but wasn't able to so service error but a good run seven straight points comes to an end shadron finally regains possess regains the serve trailing by six Midway through the second set all right some substitution questions we got that off sorted out and here we go shadron on the serve [Applause] Griffith tries to bump it up but it goes into into the crowd good effort by Callahan to try and run it down but just not enough space to do so 138 [Applause] comments never sets up for Hermanson not a great pass but a good job by Hermanson of getting that ball over and shatter hits it into the net so point to the Comets so again following this match um besides the Chrystal Weber interview we will set up the bracket play for you we'll let you know where everyone is seated and when Rapid City Christian will play again so don't go anywhere nice shot by Shad there to find the open hole in the Comets defense 14 to9 Comet with the lead and they let that serve go out of bounds and a good decision as it does go out of bounds wary and griffith were back there good communication making sure that neither of them touch it they get the point and Jaden gray back to serve now for the [Applause] Comets shadon on the attack nice job nice dig by warkey almost able to get it back over so wary great job to dig out that kill but they weren't able to get it back over the net by the third shot so 1510 Shad shad trailing and they they have the serve serve off the net that's one of those that you can't really do much about you think it's going to be in one spot then it hits the net and all of a sudden it drops lower than you than you expected and just not enough time to react and Shadd now within four 1511 that serve into the net service error Rapa City Christian will regain the serve Addie eggy The Freshman back to serve for the Comets she's in there with warkey Griffith King Miley Johnson and chloey Weber shadon tried to tap it over the outstretched hands of Mila Johnson couldn't do it into the net point to the comets Mila Johnson and Khloe Weber and even l king the eighth grader doesn't look like an eighth grader some height along that front line it's made it difficult for the shattered player to get it over the net and again King and Johnson rat the net contesting that attempt and it goes out of bounds point to the com 1811 they've stretched the lead out to seven here in set number two eggy the serve into the back row set up but hit into the net once again J shadon they've just gotten a little off off their game here in set number two you wonder how much that that closing of set number one took out of them as they had three set points were unable to close Rapid City Christian came back to win that one and shadon just hasn't been the same team since they get the point on that one 1912 shadon will regain the serve if the Cardinals want to send this to a third set they're going to have to they're have to do what Rapid City Christian did in the first set and come back to win nice serve little bit of confusion on the part of the Comas players and it falls down with no one making an attempt on it so the service Ace by number 21 for shadon this 19 Team 13 Comet still with the [Music] lead that serve is going to be too long out of bounds and possession back to the Comets they lead 20- 13 with l king who was at the service line last time and brought the Comets back to win set number one she's back there hoping to do the same thing I run of five more would put this away and give the Comets the win and the top seed for bracket play King into the back row shadon hit it out of bounds they are arguing that there was tipped but the officials say no and 2113 King this time service area into the net she tried to get that one just over the net with a little short hits it into the net 2114 shadon with the [Music] serve Griffith eggy sets it up for Johnson that set actually was a little bit over the net made it hard for Johnson to get to and a good job by shadon contesting that keeping it on the comet side of the net they ear in the point 2115 comets serve bumped High into the rafters of the gym here and griffith unable to track it down so another point for shadon but trying to put together a a late run here trailing 216 three straight points for the Cardinals King eggy eggy across Court to Weber Weber comes down hard and the shattered player cannot keep it in play nice assist by eggy good timing there for Weber timed it just right put it down hard 2216 comets Griffith now back to serve Griffith into the back row she's going to get the ace 2316 as they are approaching set [Applause] point Griffith into the back row again this time shadon able to keep it alive Nice kill there by number 12 for shadon she got up high with that left hand put it down hard the Cardinals hoping to put together late run 2317 commas with the lead leading one set to nothing Griffith passes over to Callahan Callahan not quite able to get over the net kind of skirted across the top of the net and fell harmlessly on the comet side point to shadon 2318 comets lead they let that one go and it is out of bounds just a little too long and that's going to give the comet set point set point number one Khloe Weber to serve Hermanson back in the game Weber looking to put this one away for the comets and earn them the number one seed in bracket play Weber goes deep a miscommunication by the shattered players and there it is the Comets wi set number two and so they have played four sets and they've won four sets so far today and the Comets will be your number one seed out of pool number one shadon will be the two seed so the Comets will get a buy as they will wait for the winner of the game before then we will set all of that up once we get everything uh a officially ready to go we'll let you know who uh who will be playing who and when the comments will next play and stick around here and just a few minutes we're going to get an interview with Coach Crystal Weber and get her thoughts on the season so far on the Outlook and where she see things where she when each team will be playing so Rapid City Christian we have The Bu they are one of the two number one seeds uh but their next game will actually be played in our new gym we have two gyms going on at the same time and so Gym number two is not equipped with live stream so we will not be able to stream that one live the championship game uh will be streamed live um and we will update that on our on our Facebook page and let you know when that's going to happen and if if Rapid City Christian advances to that one uh you will see that live here in our main gymnas the Rap City Christian is a one seed Hill City the one seed from pool number two so our first matchups in the main gym chadon who you just saw play Rapid City Christian they will play against St Francis uh the number three seed from pool 2 and then in our second Gym St Thomas Moore the number two seed from pool number two they will play New Underwood the three the three seed from pool number one Rapid City Christian will face the winner of St Thomas Moore and New Underwood in Gym number two which is our unfortunately the gym not equipped for live stream and then Hill City the number one C they will play the winner of shadon in St Francis in the main gym the two the two losers will play a third place game or we will have a third place game and a fifth place game uh then our Championship will take place in the main gym and if Rapid City Christian is able to advance to the championship game you will see that streamed live um right here so just stay stay tuned to our Facebook page and we will uh try to get you all the information as soon as we have it Rap City Christian 2 and0 with straight set wins over New Underwood and over shadon so a good start for the Comets Hill City 2-0 in pool number two St Thomas Moore finished 1 and one and St Francis 0 and2 so we're going to have about a 15 20 minute break here at uh you here live before the first round a bracket play begins um and then the first the next live should be joining us pretty shortly want to talk to her just about her the prospects for the year and get her thoughts on uh her teens place so far today so don't go anywhere e e e e e e e e e all right folks if you're still with us thanks for sticking around we're here with H coach Crystal Weber for the comments um so coach Weber so far today good start right four games or four sets four four victories I imagine coming off of Thursday right tough start three set loss to Douglas not the way you wanted to start but just give us a little talk about first of all just talk about the play today from the girls and maybe the response from what you saw Thursday sure so obviously coming off Thursday night that you know we were frustrated as a team because we just didn't do the fundamentals like we know how we can do it we we really drill the fundamentals all summer long and in practice and and passing is one of their fundamentals that is normally a pretty pretty good good uh positive for us and that just didn't happen on on on um Thursday night um but we have a lot of young kids that are on the floor because of injuries um and so we came out today and we just really focused on we said we wanted to focus on our passing and our serving and then everything else would come together with it and so as soon as we you know we started off and as soon as you can get the pass up to the setter we can still run a really fast offense and so it's exciting to see players like Miley who you know this is really Miley's first time of stepping in on varsity and so we're really working with her to speed up her game and she gets that arm s and so she had a couple of really great hits today out of the middle um which is a good positive cuz we always you know our philosophy is is that we have to use all of our hitters in the front row and uh we can't just you know rely on one player on the outside um which is what was happening on Thursday because our passes weren't fa yeah so I mean they've looked great so far today and uh hopefully they'll carry that into the bracket play uh so just give us a little preview you know you've been working with the girls all summer uh long year coming off a historic year last year year made it all the way to the state finals gave sou Falls Christian everything you guys could um you know multiple you know Championship winners and sou Falls Christians so uh you guys really had a great season new new team you lose some seniors you got injuries so what how are you approaching things this year coming off of that state championship run last year sure so obviously a big hit that we took this summer was When Faith had her injury at Unk and so she's out for this season with her knee injury but one of the big positives is that she immediately when she knew she was going to have to have surgery she reached out to me and she's like what do I need to do how can I be a leader from the sidelines and so she actually has taken it upon herself her her mom bought her some leadership books that when she was recovering from surgery you know she's sending me screenshots of certain things that she's highlighting because that's just the type of person that she is she's a very knowledgeable volleyball player who always studies film and she sees the court well and so you know we talked about how she was going to be helping the girls from the sidelines also because you know it's one thing for a girl for the coaches to tell the kids something but when one of their teammates is also helping them and so that's been a huge positive for us because they can really still look to her um to be a leader and then like we said you know Matty all steal is out right now and we're hoping to have her back within the next couple of weeks and so right now the only really returning Varsity player that we have out on the court is Chloe and um she's a sophomore and so she's had to step up quickly um and jump into to a role that she wasn't expecting to be in um but then we've got a lot of young girls and so you know as a coaching staff we talked about how our goal this season now just has to be to get better every game and we keep telling the girls look how many touches you're getting on the court you know you're improving all the time we have lots of kids that are getting lots of experience that might not have gotten that experience and so we're just looking at it to get better all the time as we go through and just to see what kind of team we're at we are at the end of the season and to be that tournament team again that you know nobody's expecting sure yeah I mentioned on the just on the broadcast you do have a very young team now you got L out there uh eighth grader doesn't play like an eighth grader uh had a couple really great service runs that that first set against shadron you guys were down 24-21 and reeled off five straight points she was kind of a catalyst from the service line there give us just maybe a few young players that you're looking forward to this year to kind of really take a step forward and be big contributors to your team sure so obvious ly you know El was the JV um labero last year and so she was already as a seventh grader she was playing at a pretty high level um on the JV team and so um she just she works really hard and again um when you're a faith sister and when you're at home all you do is you you eat breathe and sleep volleyball you know it just kind of comes naturally so she's got a pretty good role model in her sister that has brought her up with her and so that's kind of where she where she gets her Talent from and she's got a lot of pressure on her you know because we have hers playing all the way around um so is an eighth grader hitting from the outside and and then having to pass in the back row but she you know we talk her through it and we just let her know that you know she's just out there to do what she needs to do um Addie eggy is stepping in again so she's young she's a freshman uh she also um so last year as an eighth grader we had her as the setter on the JV team and so you know we kind of look ahead when we're trying to put our put our teams together as to who we might possibly need each of the years and so we really look at those young kids trying to build them up um brn Hermanson came in this summer and right away we knew that she was going to she was going to be a special hitter and so you know we were kind of working at her with or working on her on the JB team for the middle hitter but she is a natural right side hitter and even in the matches that we've had she hasn't even done what she's capable of doing in practice because when she um gets her timing on her approach she does a great job of swinging down the line and she adds that extra block for us as well um we even have more you know younger kids that we have on the JB team right now we have a lot of middle schoolers that we pulled up to train just because we think they have a lot of potential Sam mberg is sitting on our bench right now she went with us this summer and did some setting When Faith was out also so between her and Addie so she's going to you know we're looking to her to improve quickly um on the JV level and one person we haven't talked about is paisley Griffith so Paisley all three years of high school Paisley's play played a different position cuz when she was a freshman she was a Setter um on the C team and I think she did a little bit of setting on the JB team as well maybe um but then she also then was doing some DS and some labero work last year she was playing all the way around on the JV team and then at the end of the season her defense just came out of nowhere and so we had her playing as a DS in the state tournament when we had to switch our lineup around and you know this summer she has just stepped into that labero role she's a very quiet person but when she gets on the court she reads very well and she'll come out of nowhere and dig that ball yeah you know I highlighted just a couple couple times where she was making some great digs um you especially in that uh that shadron match they've got some good hitters they had some good hits there and uh Paisley even you can just see on that back row you know talking to the other players she's recognizing hey it's going long don't hit don't hit um and that's you know that that's key especially with the the number of players that you lost from last year kind of learning how to you know how to communicate uh so how much do you or or do you at all do you use the State title run at all motivating this team or do you kind of approach it like you know this is a new season that was a great year but these are new players not all of them were part of that how how do you use that as a coach sure so obviously um at the beginning of the summer that was one of the things that we talked about so when we came into the season last year the beginning of the summer the big thing was we wanted to make it past the sodak 16 because they had had this mental block for how many years and they would go to the soda 16 and they would kind of fall apart and so last year coming into the season we talked about the goal was to just you know go to the soda 16 and not have a mental letdown which they did and then everything after that was just kind of you know the cherry on top of the cake and and they just showed what they could do so you know at the beginning of the summer we talked about all of that again we said hey we you know we have the capability to do this and um as the summer went on and like I said unfortunately with the injury to Faith you know that of change things but we didn't back off of it because we still talked about okay we have other people who can step in and we can we can we've been training these kids when we get back into the gym and can actually go to you know practices full practices um in the fall then we can train up some younger players to get where they need to be um our what we've been talking about since we've gotten to the season actually is just getting better one day at a time and then we keep telling them you never know what you're going to be like at the end of the season because you know we train everybody for every position so we've got a lot of athletic girls we're very fortunate at Rapid City Christian um and honestly in practice it's a dog fight every single day and so it just happens to be that you know to um on on Thursday we had Riley Lin and we had CLA and Ally who were in the lineup and and both of them get did a good job and they've never been on the varsity before um we we saw in practice and we switched a few things up today so may Callahan who also has never been on the varsity team um she came in and she did a good job and so we have all of these kids that are that are in our gym every day that are just fighting and we tell them you know you need to do whatever it is on the court so that so that the coach doesn't need to replace you and so and then on the flip side about it if you're not one of those starters you need to do everything that you can to show that you're a better player and you deserve to be out there and so we just focus on the competition each day and and getting better fundamentally because then that's going to carry over into the court sure yeah so I mean it is cliche but it's true right just it's one day at a time I me you never know with the injuries people have to be ready to step up and so you know I I mean the approach you guys were taking uh certainly you you know what you're doing right you Coast them to the to the State title last year to the state championship last year uh so hey long season we're we're looking forward to to watching the girls grow right along with you and as you're figuring out rotations and all of that uh great start to the tournament today and good luck and bracket play Will Come Away with the thank you we're hoping we've got you know one of the other ones I forgot to mention is Jaden gray Jaden gray is just a freshman also she's she's normally an outside hitter or right side hitter but we were trying to find another middle that could do something this week and Jaden was the hardest worker that we had and so as a coaching staff you know we just decided we're going to put the person out there that's going to work and who's excited to be out there and so she's doing a good job also she had a little little bum ankle in practice last night but again like we we're just like the injury we have the injury bug last night or just at this point in time and so you know it'll be exciting to see what happens when we get everybody healthy um because you know we get when we get Maddie back in there also and Jaden's Health healthier on her ankle we'll even turn into another different team but we're going to use that competition right now we're going to get everybody as many touches and as much experience as we can so yeah I know you you just as a teacher having some of these girls in class uh you they coming Friday just you know kind of down like oh that was not our best game at all um but such a quick turnaround and to see in two days really I mean less than two days like a day uh to come out the way they did so that very first set 25 to four like they they were ready to go they and so I think that says a lot about the team that you they could have hung their head they could have stretched into more bad play but instead they bounced back and said okay we're we're going to be better cuz we know we're better and they were better they were absolutely it's all about building confidence in them you know they've got to they've got to understand that that they're out there for a reason and that they just need to trust in their skills and they need to trust in their teammates and so as that goes along also and they they see that they're successful then that'll build more confidence and and they just yeah they're a fun group of girls to work with and they build each other up all the time and so they're I'm just excited to see what they'll be able to do awesome awesome well season so far what she's looking forward to some players to look at uh so far today uh the comments have looked completely different than they looked Thursday right lost three lost in three sets to Douglas just didn't look good at all um you know the girls knew they didn't play well and so uh just a great you know great sign to see them bounce back so quickly and looking so good so far and and they know that they've you know they've got even more more ways to improve and more room to to be better and so we're going to we're going to end this live stream here we will keep you updated on when
