How to Trade In iPhone with Apple Trade-In Kit 2024 Full Tutorial

Intro hey everyone this is Mr everything and this video I want to do a update for 2024 on the Apple tradein kit uh today I'm returning an iPhone I know I've done an iPhone before I've done an Apple Watch last year and I I think you can trade in iPads and MacBooks so obviously it's going to be a much bigger box and probably you know different way of doing it but I think the most popular one is the iPhone actually might consider Trad in one of my MacBooks but it's still pretty good so I don't know but more importantly for this it's a little bit different than the one actually both of the ones I've gotten When Does the Box Arrive? before so with me they sent this box separate sometimes it might come with the phone for me it didn't the phone came from UPS I think two days later the box came from UPS um people have asked that so I'm going to address some questions along the way just make the video a little bit longer but people have a lot of questions about this so in the past the box was similar to this but there was almost like this Saran wrap on the box and it was a little bit confusing I guess to kind of get it in there you had to bend it and stretch it a little bit I mean it wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't put it in it but it's for protection I think so this one doesn't have that I mean I don't know if it's better or worse so I I believe with this you're just going to put the phone in here like this close it up seal it but we have to prepare the phone first and then this is your lame instructions your Erasing Everything on the iPhone seal so uh the first thing you want to do I mean if you bought a new phone which is I'm pretty sure you can't just send this back I think you have to buy a new phone to be able to trade in through Apple so you should already have your new phone I would imagine you'd already have it activated so you likely don't need to do anything more with this I'm ready to erase it but I notic at least with I don't know if it's the phone or iOS 17 you can just go here and go to get started and before you used to have to sign out of iCloud and then you type in your pass code looks like it's going to do this whole process for me uh usually what you do is you would just go into your iCloud which it's telling me I'm going to erase it anyway so I know I kind of got hung up there you type in your password for your Apple ID account and then it kind of just sat there for a while didn't do anything but then I just restarted the phone so I assume now it's just erasing everything so like I said in the past you had to uh sign out of iCloud then you could erase your phone but I guess the way it's configured now you just tell it you want to erase it and it just takes care of all that for you what you can also do is go on any other Apple device you're signed into and view your other devices just to verify that it's signed out but when this reboots and it's completely wiped there should be no I think this is much more streamlined and simple it should be pretty you know foolproof so I would just say erase it and again if you don't go through the settings and you don't have that prompt you can just sign out of iCloud first and another thing I guess I'll Removing Sim Card mention since this is the third I mean the new one has an eim so no longer using any SIM cards might want to you don't have to take it out it's not that they going to reject the trade but you go your little SIM card there popped it out I'll just hang on to it I mean I don't need it I don't know if I'll ever have another phone that'll have SIM and now that I switched to eim I don't know if that deactivates this one probably does I don't really know how stuff like that works cuz I really don't do too much of it but again just pop that SIM card out and while this is doing this you can I wipe the phone off and then it also says you don't have What Needs to be Returned? to return anything you don't have to return the original box you don't have to return the charger or the cables or headphones or the case anything they just want the phone back and they you know get your max trade value of no scen scratches no cracks no brakes looks like the phone's already been reset um I am going to return it with the case uh mostly just because the 15 doesn't fit any the 13's cases and this one's like ugly so I can't even resell it I'm going to pop the phone just for a little added protection since it doesn't have that you can see I had this clear one that's starting to Yellow so I'll just put it in there I'm kind of curious to see I don't see how it would defect the trade value and it still has a screen protector on I did a really good job with this one so I'm going to leave it on I'm sure they'll take it back off but you I just want to return something with all that on there and see what'll Turning the iPhone Off happen so it looks like we're completely signed out you can shut the phone off or leave it on you might as well shut it off but again I don't think either way it really matters all right so you actually can't even set these up if you go through this you have to uh connect it to a Macbook or uh a Wi-Fi network so that pretty much verifies you know there's it's completely wiped if you hold the power button you can you can start over you just go to shutdown and you should be fine like that again I put it in this case you do not have to I'm sure they they say they recycle it but either way I mean I I doubt someone there is going to take it and use it so to probably just get thrown away or recycled so don't send them something good if you think you can sell it but I'll leave it there uh that's all I'm going to send back is just the phone and the case and screen protector I don't think these are really Interpreting the Instructions worth anything uh same with an Apple Watch but I've shown that before they're basically not telling you anything this one's a little bit better than the prior kit just minus the Saran Inserting the iPhone Into the Box Wrap so you can set the phone either way although it does look like in the uh instructions of the little Doodle that they do want you to set it face up and have to kind of fin angle it in here so the next step is just to close it but I've noticed it's it does not want to stay down it might be just that slight added thickness due to the case um that makes it really hard to close you can I mean I know they want it to be a lot of pressure from this cardboard to keep it from bouncing around but uh as far as I can tell I guess that's just the way it's going to have to Shipping Label close and uh in in the past they would include a label so you'd rip off the one they gave you on the package and reuse it and and apply the old label well now the label's already a fixed to it they put their shipping label on top of it to get to you and it has a obvious like little tag here it says peel here and it it you know usually when you peel a label it leaves residue this one's designed to where it peels off real clean this label underneath is the one to return so they've made that a lot easier so I I covered it up obviously just for this Adding the Seal and then you get this little almost there's a little perforation here so you can have a little spot to tear it from and this is basically just a clear piece of tape in the past they used to get like a striped one CU it's like a tamper proof so it' make it really obvious if someone broke into it which I mean someone could just steal the whole package do it anyway this would just tell whether someone actually did it um so I'm going to verify this make sure the phone didn't jump out away and then I'm going to adhere this and then pretty much done so after you've checked it like three times and you've gone through the mental checklist have I actually reset it is did I break it did I forget something that I put the wrong phone in there my new one and you've convinced yourself that you actually know what you're doing then you can go ahead and I'm going to try and put it a little bit over this old one but I want it a little more in the middle and then nice and tight again it's basically just a piece of tape but that's basically all there is to it so you would have your label here you'd be done for me I just got to take off this little paper that covers but the label is ready to go this one is a UPS UPS or FedEx? Drop Off ground so for me I can take it to my local Advance Auto and they'll do it there you can take it to a UPS drop off last time it was through FedEx and then you can there's FedEx boxes which are a little more convenient these will easily fit and though there's pretty big boxes oh like a glorified mailbox and I think uh Dollar Generals are FedEx drop off points prior to that was UPS so I've had two two ups returns and one FedEx so that'll be up to you you'll have to see Summary if you have a f or FedEx or UPS location a drop off point wherever you can do it uh that's how you'll uh send it back and then you can track all this progress in your Apple ID on your tradein kit tracking so hopefully that was helpful uh not that many things different just a you know different box different way the labels on it but it's basically the same concept clean the phone up erase everything remove it from your iCloud uh put it in here make sure it's secure don't have to include anything else seal it up make sure the label's on it and then this case it's already on there for you and then you're ready to go so hopefully that was helpful enjoy your new phone and hopefully you can get the uh max value back out of your phone when they get it so thanks for watching and you'll see me in the next one have a good one
