hi everyone so today we're going to be talking about monkey pox what really is monkey pox I know that's a million dollar question right now well monkey box is a double stranded DNA viral infection of the Box V family which also houses other infections such as cowpox and small pox yeah ring a bell exactly small pox was the same disease that ravaged the world but was finally erated towards the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the year in 1980 according to the World Health Organization monkey pox was discovered in Monkey scale for research in Denmark monkey pox is eved into two genetic clades with the c one said to have origin in Central and East Africa and the second C having its origin in West Africa it is also important to note that monkey pox is a self-limiting infection which means it reses on its own and of course with the help of proper medical attention so next we're going to talk about the IAL presentation of this disease what does it look like what are the symptoms to look out for you have symptoms like fever headache rashes you also have uh something called acute telis which is an inflamation of the back of your mouth acut onitis leads to other symptoms such as Sal tro um difficulty in swallowing there are other symptoms which can also be found presenting this infection such as anorectal pain and proctitis which is a pain found um towards the anal region the anal and the rectum and also the inflammation of the rectum respectively you also have another symptom which is the Solon lymph node that can be very painful so what are these lymph nodes exactly so lymph nodes are small gland that distri all over the body that are part of the immune system that play a key role in fighting infections these glands help to filter out powerful substances such as viruses and bacteria so a swo lymph node would indicate that there is a heavy sign of viral or bacterial infection the swo lymph nodes they appear in different stages and they progress over two to four weeks the first stage is the m here they just look like flat red spots all over the body the second stage is the Papio here those flat red spots become elevated the third stage is the vesicle here they look like they blister field the fourth stage is a posture just like the name implies it looks like it's filled with PST and the last stage the scares here they cross up dry over and then fall off so what are the next steps to take when you do notice the disease first it will be very wise of you if you do notice or see any of these symptoms so please check it with your local Health provider for proper diagnosis to prevent dehydration and also to administer the right antibiotics to prevent secondary infections so how exactly is monkey pox transmitted monkey pox is transmitted from person to person animal to person and vice versa person to person it is transmitted through the open SS and sces of infected persons and respiratory droplets and bodily fluids of infected persons via animals monkey PS can be transmitted through bites scratches bodily fluids and direct contact with infected animals monkey pox is diagnosed through something called PCR testing polymer Gene reaction testing otherwise known as genetic fingerprinting for this test to be done sample of your tissue through the open s is taking and analyze to see if the virus is there and what antibodies your immune system forms for the treatment of monkey boook we have anti drugs and Vin anti drugs such as CED and mats as well as some others have been approve for the treatment of this disease but Vines are usually used for prevention and are usually recommended if you are at risk of exposure of having been recently exposed to monos so what other steps can you and I take to keep disas at B we have a dead sentence and it is not a f is either or if left untreated it could lead to secondary complications such as pneumonia sepsis which is also an infection of the blood could lead to conern vomiting and diarrhea therefore leading to severe dehydration it could lead to an infection of the cornea leading to loss of vision could also lead to inflammation of the heart muscle and inflammation of the
